A New Consequence To "Global Warming"?

And just what might this nefarious peril, this dire threat be, that has some NASA scientists all atwitter?  Brace yourselves, for the answer to this question is so, so shocking that you might never sleep again!!

Ok, now!  Be seated and have smelling salts at the ready!  You've been warned!  The answer is (drum roll and trumpet blast, please)..

INVASIONS BY ALIENS FROM OUTER SPACE!!

(Imagine now the Twilight Zone theme playing)

Read the dire words of warning here!  I quote "Green aliens might object to the environmental damage humans have caused on Earth and wipe us out to save the planet. These scenarios give us reason to limit our growth and reduce our impact on global ecosystems. It would be particularly important for us to limit our emissions of greenhouse gases, since atmospheric composition can be observed from other planets."

Who dreams up this nonsense?  So "little green men" are coming to earth to tell us to be "little green men" or they'll zap us with their ray-guns?  Since at least some of these quacks are NASA scientists (using the word "scientist" lightly), we can only surmise that at least some of this crap is funded by our tax dollars - and at a time when our economy is going down the drain.

Actually "little green men" have invaded this planet already.  They occupy high places in academia, mainstream media, the USCCB, the White House, etc.  They're called "progressives".  We aim to retire some of these in 2012.

  1. 1) The Great Communicator himself thought very seriously about contact with extraterrestrial intelligence (or he really loved Watchmen).

So the fact that we have scientists thinking about the consequences of such a contact is hardly unexpected or frivolous. I'll bet if aliens landed tomorrow and enslaved the entire species, you'd blame Obama for failing to protect us from the obvious alien threat.

2)Q: "So "little green men" are coming to earth to tell us to be "little green men" or they'll zap us with their ray-guns?"
A: Probably not. You DID read the part of the article which stated that such an encounter was one of several "highly speculative" and "unlikely" scenarios, right? And of course you DO know that the people, at NASA and elsewhere, who think about this stuff for a living believe that even if there are other intelligent civilizations in the universe, the chances of them even being able to reach us by any means is incredibly slim? Or do you just read the headlines of sensationally-edited science articles?

    3) You can put scare quotes around "scientists" all you want, but I'll bet you the complete works of Carl Sagan vs. those of William F. Buckley (or whomever you'd care to name) that "science" discovers proof of primitive life existing or having existed in our solar system before Jesus comes back.

  2. Thomas, I don't doubt the possible existence of other intelligent beings on other planets. What I find ridiculous is the notion that these hypothetical beings would be envirowhacko enough to harm us over any imagined "damage" in the earth's environment.

That's nice that they consider the possibility of any such encounter "highly speculative" and "unlikely", but that causes me to ask why they suggested such in the first place.
