Commencement Catastrophes

In a few months, high school and college seniors will be receiving diplomas during ceremonies where they will listen to speakers.  We would hope that at Catholic institutions that those speakers would be people who exemplify fidelity to Church teaching in their lives and words.  Sadly that has not always been the case during these past few decades.  I and others have often stood in protest at commencements where the speakers scandalized students and others, simply by being honored despite (or maybe because of) their publicly sinful conduct.

That trend still continues.  During these past two years, commencements often were canceled due to covid-related concerns, but now they are ramping up, as are the appearances of dissidents.  The Archdiocese of Baltimore, via the Catholic Review, just announced two such speakers about to poison the minds of the graduates.

The first is Sister Helen Prejean, who will address graduates of Notre Dame of Maryland University on May 22 at the Baltimore Convention Center.  She will be delivering her address virtually, but the plug needs to be pulled on that public address system when she speaks.  I have written quite a bit on her over the years.  Her heretical position on the death penalty is NOT her only problem.  I am considering a picket of that event, urging attendees to walk out during her prattling.

Then there's Anisya Thomas Fritz.  She is a bit of an entrepreneur.  There's nothing wrong with that, but she has other questionable associations.  According to her Linkedin page, she is a founder and current chair of something called Georgetown Ambassadors for Women, Peace, Security.  Any group that gives out "Hillary Clinton awards" is questionable, at best.  Then I googled that group and discovered who's on the board.  Ms. Fritz is, of course, but so is someone else named Tricia Hoefling.  Her bio blurb quite plainly states that "she is an outspoken advocate for reproductive rights" and counts as an "accomplishment" the establishment of two abortuaries.  Mind you, this is right on the website of Georgetown University, an ostensibly Catholic institution, but then again, it's Georgetown.  Anyway, we know a lot about people by the company they keep.  If she was a founder of that group, would she not have had some input regarding the composition of the board?  Can Ms. Fritz be that much of an exemplar of Catholicism?

Fritz will be speaking at the commencement of Loyola University on May 14th at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore at 11am.  That's a Sunday morning.  Just when do the Loyola administration think that attendees will be able to attend Sunday Mass that day?  Or don't they care?  What's even more peculiar is that the Review staff didn't pick up on that.  On second thought, maybe not.

The fact that these scandals are happening is bad enough.  That they are lauded in an archdiocesan newspaper is itself bona fide evidence of the corruption that exists within Church hierarchy.  As I said earlier, I am contemplating a picket of the Notre Dame fiasco.  We've done it before, many times.  I link now to a picket that some of us conducted when Sr. Carol Keehan of the Pen of Perfidy spoke at Gonzaga High 12 years ago.  Watch the video to the end.  We need to rebuke the sinner.

Consecrated To The Immaculate Heart Of Mary, Or To Pachamama???

There is some confusion and consternation regarding some translations of the consecration prayer used today by the pope.  I linked to it a few days ago; obviously I linked to the English translation.  The phrase in question is "Queen of Heaven".  In the English, this is a perfectly fine reference to use for Our Lady.  However, in the Italian, the language used by the pope in the consecration prayer earlier today, the phrase put in its place was "tiera del cielo".  Roughly translated, it means "earth of heaven".  Some think this may be a not-so-veiled reference to the pachamama demon-idol.

Below are two videos, one from Taylor Marshall and the other from Michael Hichborn - both men whom I respect.  Marshall believes that the phrasing is, at best, suspicious.  Hichborn doesn't and he cites some Byzantine liturgies as precedents for the phrase's use.

I tend to side with Marshall on this one.  Even if Hichborn is correct in believing the phrase has basis for usage, it doesn't explain the variance between the English and Italian translations.  "Queen" simply doesn't get translated into "earth".  If anything, "Queen of Heaven" should be rendered "Regina Cielo" or something to that effect.  Why the disparity in those two words?  Most other languages, by the way, have the "earth of heaven" phrase as well.  So again, why is the English have a phrase that is more compatible with traditional Catholicism?

Well, call me a cynic, but I believe that you are looking at one of those reasons.  Blogs and other media outlets such as this, many of them in English-speaking countries, are run by us "neo-palagian rigid trads" who have obnoxious habits of calling the shots as we see them and doing so loudly and often.  Perhaps the Vatican thought we'd be so ecstatic about the consecration occurring that they thought we wouldn't notice such teensy details.  But, as they say, the devil is in the details - perhaps literally.

At the end of the day, though, there is hope that the consecration was done properly - not assurance but hope.  Both of the men below agree that no matter what, we must still conduct ourselves according to the requests of Our Lady of Fatima.  That means praying the Rosary daily and wearing the brown scapular.  That means keeping the Five First Saturday devotions.  That means prayer and penance.  We are still in for some intense battles so stay close to Our Lord and Our Lady.

Consecration Prayer Published

Here it is, per the Catholic News Agency.

O Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, in this time of trial we turn to you. As our Mother, you love us and know us: no concern of our hearts is hidden from you. Mother of mercy, how often we have experienced your watchful care and your peaceful presence! You never cease to guide us to Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

Yet we have strayed from that path of peace. We have forgotten the lesson learned from the tragedies of the last century, the sacrifice of the millions who fell in two world wars. We have disregarded the commitments we made as a community of nations. We have betrayed peoples’ dreams of peace and the hopes of the young. We grew sick with greed, we thought only of our own nations and their interests, we grew indifferent and caught up in our selfish needs and concerns. We chose to ignore God, to be satisfied with our illusions, to grow arrogant and aggressive, to suppress innocent lives and to stockpile weapons. We stopped being our neighbour’s keepers and stewards of our common home. We have ravaged the garden of the earth with war and by our sins we have broken the heart of our heavenly Father, who desires us to be brothers and sisters. We grew indifferent to everyone and everything except ourselves. Now with shame we cry out: Forgive us, Lord!

Holy Mother, amid the misery of our sinfulness, amid our struggles and weaknesses, amid the mystery of iniquity that is evil and war, you remind us that God never abandons us, but continues to look upon us with love, ever ready to forgive us and raise us up to new life. He has given you to us and made your Immaculate Heart a refuge for the Church and for all humanity. By God’s gracious will, you are ever with us; even in the most troubled moments of our history, you are there to guide us with tender love.

We now turn to you and knock at the door of your heart. We are your beloved children. In every age you make yourself known to us, calling us to conversion. At this dark hour, help us and grant us your comfort. Say to us once more: “Am I not here, I who am your Mother?” You are able to untie the knots of our hearts and of our times. In you we place our trust. We are confident that, especially in moments of trial, you will not be deaf to our supplication and will come to our aid.

That is what you did at Cana in Galilee, when you interceded with Jesus and he worked the first of his signs. To preserve the joy of the wedding feast, you said to him: “They have no wine” (Jn 2:3). Now, O Mother, repeat those words and that prayer, for in our own day we have run out of the wine of hope, joy has fled, fraternity has faded. We have forgotten our humanity and squandered the gift of peace. We opened our hearts to violence and destructiveness. How greatly we need your maternal help!

Therefore, O Mother, hear our prayer.

Star of the Sea, do not let us be shipwrecked in the tempest of war.

Ark of the New Covenant, inspire projects and paths of reconciliation.

Queen of Heaven, restore God’s peace to the world.

Eliminate hatred and the thirst for revenge, and teach us forgiveness.

Free us from war, protect our world from the menace of nuclear weapons.

Queen of the Rosary, make us realize our need to pray and to love.

Queen of the Human Family, show people the path of fraternity.

Queen of Peace, obtain peace for our world.

O Mother, may your sorrowful plea stir our hardened hearts. May the tears you shed for us make this valley parched by our hatred blossom anew. Amid the thunder of weapons, may your prayer turn our thoughts to peace. May your maternal touch soothe those who suffer and flee from the rain of bombs. May your motherly embrace comfort those forced to leave their homes and their native land. May your Sorrowful Heart move us to compassion and inspire us to open our doors and to care for our brothers and sisters who are injured and cast aside.

Holy Mother of God, as you stood beneath the cross, Jesus, seeing the disciple at your side, said: “Behold your son” (Jn 19:26.) In this way he entrusted each of us to you. To the disciple, and to each of us, he said: “Behold, your Mother” (v. 27). Mother Mary, we now desire to welcome you into our lives and our history. At this hour, a weary and distraught humanity stands with you beneath the cross, needing to entrust itself to you and, through you, to consecrate itself to Christ. The people of Ukraine and Russia, who venerate you with great love, now turn to you, even as your heart beats with compassion for them and for all those peoples decimated by war, hunger, injustice and poverty.

Therefore, Mother of God and our Mother, to your Immaculate Heart we solemnly entrust and consecrate ourselves, the Church and all humanity, especially Russia and Ukraine. Accept this act that we carry out with confidence and love. Grant that war may end and peace spread throughout the world. The “Fiat” that arose from your heart opened the doors of history to the Prince of Peace. We trust that, through your heart, peace will dawn once more. To you we consecrate the future of the whole human family, the needs and expectations of every people, the anxieties and hopes of the world.

Through your intercession, may God’s mercy be poured out on the earth and the gentle rhythm of peace return to mark our days. Our Lady of the “Fiat," on whom the Holy Spirit descended, restore among us the harmony that comes from God. May you, our “living fountain of hope,” water the dryness of our hearts. In your womb Jesus took flesh; help us to foster the growth of communion. You once trod the streets of our world; lead us now on the paths of peace. Amen.

Frankly, I don't know if this suffices to fulfill the specific request put forth by Our Lady of Fatima.  The words "consecrate" and "Russia" do occur in the same sentence, but Russia is not named at the primary object of the act of consecration.  However, it does come closer to the request than have all the other consecrations put forth by previous pontiffs.

Between now and this coming Friday the prayer could change - for better or worse.  As always, keep praying the Rosary.

Archbishop Vigano Analyzes The Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Archbishop Vigano posted some thoughts about the situation between Russia and the Ukraine.  While I haven't had time to study it, I'm sure it'll be worth the read.  Taylor Marshall offers his own thoughts about what the Archbishop had to say.

Our Lady Of Fatima's Requests To Be Fulfilled At Long Last?

Amidst all the turmoil happening between Russia and the Ukraine, the Ukrainian bishops asked Pope Francis to consecrate both Russia and the Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  A few days ago, the pope announced that he would fulfill that request on March 25, the Feast of the Annunciation.  The big question is whether or not this consecration would be in accordance with the requests of Our Lady of Fatima.

Many voice doubts.  Some believe that the addition of the Ukraine is a violation of the request to consecrate Russia.  I for one am ambivalent about that.  Clearly some of the consecrations touted to be in accordance with her requests simply weren't.  Pope John Paul II consecrated "the world" to her Immaculate Heart.  While such a consecration may well have been beneficial on its own merits, Russia was not specifically named.  It did NOT fulfill the Fatima requests, despite the rumored quote from Sr Lucia (if that really was Sr Lucia).  I understand that Pope Pius XII consecrated the "Russian people" to the Immaculate Heart.  Our Lady requested that the nation itself, not merely its citizens, be consecrated.  As it stands now, the word "Russia" will be explicitly stated.  Is it a violation of the Fatima request to add another name?  I don't know.

Another concern is whether or not the bishops of the world will join the consecration, as requested by Our Lady.  When we see a key ally of the pope, Cardinal Marx, celebrating "20 years of queer worship", we have reason to doubt it.  But miracles do happen.  I heard that the Latin American Bishops' Conference pledged to join the pope's consecration.  Should we not pray that the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops do something useful (for a change) and follow suit?

A third objection arises from the question of who is actually the real pope - Francis or Benedict.  Perhaps that's not a problem.  Certainly they are both bishops.  The pope - whoever that is - will have to consecrate in union with the all the bishops of the world.  Francis and Benedict would have to consecrate together, right?  Canon lawyers and theologians, am I oversimplifying things here?

Even if all these questions are answered, there still remains the real possibility that there could be some last-minute flub-up.  Given the conduct of this papacy, it would be no great surprise.

Whatever the outcome, Our Lady of Fatima requested the daily Rosary and wearing of her scapular, as well as the First Saturday devotions.  Let's adhere to them.

Maryland House Bill 1171 Just Passed The House Today

Last month I sounded an alert regarding Maryland House Bill 1171, a proposed amendment to the State Constitution to enshrine abortion as a "right".  Today it passed the House and now moves to the State Senate.  I understand that because it is framed as a constitutional amendment, that it will bypass Governor Hogan altogether if passed and will be placed on the ballot for popular vote.

Please work and pray that this bill dies in the Senate.  If it passes, we will have quite a battle on our hands to get Maryland voters to reject the amendment.  We, as a state, stand to have more blood on our hands and will probably see an influx of abortionists to set up their murdering establishments.

By the way, SB 669, the legalization of post-birth infanticide, is also in the works.  We'll watch that too.

Mass Psychosis Of Masked And Vaxxed

A friend of mine suggested that we watch the video that is posted below.  As I watched it, I could not help but note the parallels between the principles elaborated therein with the Covid-related events of the past two years.  Whoever was behind the deliberately-induced covid situation and panics knew exactly what they were doing, and most likely are would-be tyrants.  Consider:

  • The targeting of those inclined to emotion rather than logic, explaining why liberals are more susceptible to such manipulations
  • The attempts to isolate people from each other via masking, social distancing, lockdowns, etc
  • The alternating periods of lockdowns versus openings - so predictable they have to be calculated
  • The savage and irrational verbal attacks at those who dare to question the narrative (use of labels such as "selfish", etc)
  • The collusion between governments, media, technology to control information
Obviously the creators of this post are not bringing Christianity to bear in this production but still they ring true.  Their candor stands in stark contrast to Catholic hierarchy - including the pope - who are in cahoots with the Schwabs and Soroses of the New World Order.  They either intende to use the scamdemic to further their plans, or the scandemic is merely a dress rehearsal for them to study for future attempts.

The term used in this video "mass psychosis" most aptly fits those sucked into the panic simply because "experts" told them to panic.  Speaking of "experts", we haven't seen Fauci for a while now?  I wonder why?  But I digress

I live in Montgomery County MD, one of the areas in the US that is most infested with liberal mental malaise.  Here the indoor mask mandates have been lifted for two weeks now.  However, I can go into any CVS or Giant and still see at least 60% of the people still masked, many of them giving me the stink-eye as I walk by them with my unmasked face.  They will drive in their cars, alone and fully masked.  They will walk by themselves in the fresh air, fully masked.

We certainly see the mass psychosis being manifest in totalitarianism.  For a relatively extreme example, we can see how tin-horn dictator Justin Trudeau used covid to seize control over bank accounts of those opposed to him.  Some, having broken free of his grip, succeeded (at least temporarily) in staring him down somewhat.  Australia's situation is even more dire, with people even being dragged from their homes and hauled to some camp in the boonies.

Towards the end, when the narrator talks of preventing the psychosis, he speaks of "bringing order to our own minds".  Here we see the lack of a correct Catholic perspective.  The most important part of this is to make sure we are in a state of grace and that we are frequenting prayer and the Sacraments (this highlights a particularly despicable aspect of the lockdown, that of our prelates shutting us off from the Sacraments).  This weekend, while the Truckers' Convoy was in Hagerstown, I went up there Saturday afternoon.  I was not at all surprised to see a decent array of Christian-themed vehicles amongst them.  If nothing else, these truckers, and other good people, are displaying to the world at large that the "new world order" does not deserve unwavering loyalty from them.

The narrator mentions the phrase "parallel structures" as a means of combatting the totalitarianism.  One such "structure" that we see are the Catholics who gather around the Traditional Latin Mass.  Besides our attempts to obey Christ's timeless teachings, might our distrust of their "social justice warrior" pig-slop tenets be a reason why modernists such as the pope are trying to marginalize us?  It won't, it cannot work.

Please watch this and pass it on to your own circles.

Archbishop Vigano On The Russia Versus Ukraine Situation

Archbishop Vigano has some wise words regarding the present eastern Europe tensions.  They run counter to leftwing propaganda that portrays "big bad Russia" pouncing on "poor innocent Ukraine".  Of course the Ukrainian citizens are bearing the horrible brunt of this matter, but we need to realize that Schwab, Soros and the rest of the "new-world-order" oligarchs have their paw prints all over it - not to mention the Biden family that has had financial involvements in the Ukraine.

Without further ado, please read the archbishop's letter.

A Push To Legalize Post-Birth Infanticide In Maryland?

Thanks to Canon 212, I stumbled upon this alert.  It links to the actual text of the bill, which does indeed contain the deadly language.  This is in addition to some Maryland representatives' attempt to introduce an amendment to Maryland's constitution to enshrine a "right" to slaughter one's own children.  Now they have set their sights on already-born infants.

Let me say a word about the title of this blog post.  I included the words "post birth" because in fact all abortion is infanticide.  It makes no difference whatsoever if the infant is inside or outside his/her mother's womb.  Yes, I said the word mother.  Among the more ridiculous aspects of SB 669 is the attempt to be "woke" about gender-specific language.  Thus "mother" is replaced by "pregnant person" and all feminine pronouns are likewise jettisoned.  Silly as that is, it is trivial compared to the danger that it poses to every baby in Maryland, born or unborn.

Both these bills must be combatted at the legislative level.  Frankly, I don't trust Hogan to veto these.  I'd be delighted to be proven wrong on that, but let's work to keep these things from reaching his desk.

The Latest Craze! Do The Confirmation Banana!

What normal, sane person in their worst nightmare coughs up this dredge?  That is what one ditzy DRE did to her confirmation students.  Please note in the video below that the priest is vested for Mass.  Yes, this debacle happened during Mass.  Moreover, the poor kids were marched into the sanctuary and had to turn their backs on Our Lord in the Tabernacle.  Then they were compelled to follow along with silly gestures while the DRE, with rock band, performs a musical routine that.. well, let's just say it won't be winning any grammy awards.

For the life of me, I cannot fathom one actual benefit that came from all that schlock.  The poor kids were scandalized - in every sense of the word.  I'm not sure where this parish is, but that priest and DRE are in need of serious reprimands for the damages inflicted on these kids' souls.

With Respect To Russia And Ukraine, Don't Let The Media Tell You What To Think

There's more - a lot more - to recent events than meets the eye.  Here is some food for thought.
