Judie Brown, President of American Life League, issued a press release today, stating that "
Barbara Johnson Owes Mother and Catholic Church An Apology". She raises many good points. My only comment would be more of an addition: Ms. Johnson owes Father Guarnizo an apology, as does the Archdiocese of Washington.
From my friend at Les Femmes, here are some good ones.
I say a Hail Mary every morning for Fr. Guarnizo and all embattled priests. I remembered him tonight, too, at adoration.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking tonight that maybe part of the reason we are so inundated with evils is because we don't pray for protection from them. The pre-conciliar liturgy (Mass, sacraments, Divine Office) and the old Rituale Romanum are full of petitions for blessing and protection from various evils...and for the last almost half-century, those have been all but wiped out. Somewhere, we got the idea that we no longer need them. This is a dumb idea. St. Alphonsus Liguori says there are certain graces God doesn't ordinarily grant us unless we ask for them.
Anita, where can one get a pre-conciliar brevary (preferably online)? I'd be interested in obtaining one. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBaronius Press has just come out with an English-Latin Roman Breviary in 3 volumes -- for the low, low price of $350.00! They are already out of stock:

The old breviary is also online in its entirety. I know a priest who uses this:

P.S. If you use Firefox, the Divinum Officium website doesn't seem to run very well on it. It works better on Explorer.
