Reverend Joseph Lowery, who gave the benediction at Obama's inauguration ceremony in January 2009, gave a different sort of address at a "get out the vote" rally in Georgia earlier this week. In that address, he stated that "all white folks are going to hell" and "I don't know what kind of nigger wouldn't vote with a black man running."
By the way - this rally happened in St James Baptist Church in Forsyth, GA. Where is the ACLU, Americans for Separation of Church and State, etc, etc? Why do we not hear their cries of righteous indignation at a church being used for political purposes? Why aren't they demanding revocation of that church's tax-exempt status? These are rhetorical questions of course; I think we all know the double standards that exist. However, it's good to point out these specific examples when they occur. I suppose I'll now be called "racist" for doing that.
In 2009, Obama awarded Lowery the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Will we now hear Obama demanding return of that medal? Will he at least denounce those obviously racist remarks?
