Today's Vortex says what is all too obvious. Our Church and her traditions are withering precisely because of the malevolence borne to her by her very own leaders - particularly bishops. In times past, some thought that the bishops did not take strong measures against heretics and perverts in the ranks because they were weak, inept or simply not so bright. No more. There's too much of a pattern here.
Let's take a look at Cardinal Dolan, for example. How many of us groaned when he yokked it up with Obama during that Al Smith dinner, just before his election? There are some who thought that he was merely acting in a naive manner. Some blamed cowardice for his refusal to excommunicate dissident Catholics such as Andrew Cuomo.
Now examine his treatment of Father Wylie last week. The instant Father asked that the Traditional Mass be supported more by the Archdiocese of New York, Cardinal Dolan had him packing and did all he could to besmirch Father Wylie. Cardinal Dolan did not play the bumbling fool there; he knew what he wanted to do and he acted with all alacrity, deliberation and ruthlessness.
Two Lents ago, in my own parish, I saw this played out in the case of Father Guarnizo. Within a week of Father's denial of Holy Communion to two flamboyant lesbians, he too was given his heave-ho out of the Archdiocese of Washington. The progressive prelates are all too focused when it comes to eradicating priests who stand up for the Church and her traditions and teachings. Those who still wear rose-colored glasses in regards to our prelates would do well to remove them. We cannot pray properly for them if we don't see the problems as they exist.
Save you're money that you would normally give to the church, put it aside, and then make a concerted effort to find your local widows, orphans, and those in your community who have been sick and ill and help them with their lives. Otherwise the "Useless" collections that will be wasted on liberal priest and religious who tout this Liberal Anti-Traditional Monster that the Catholic Church has become will continue to grow and the Catholic Faith as well as Catholic souls will be lost.
ReplyDeleteI might also suggest donating to your local crisis pregnancy center. Many do heroic work on shoe-string budgets.
DeleteWith reference to excommunication, why hasn't the Church excommunicate Nancy Pelosi ?? She accepts abortion, women's rights, etc. She even was given an audience with the Pope. From what I have read, she is also allowed to receive Communion. Most of the Bishops of the Church must be celebrating all the illegals pouring across the Border. It is so "fashionable" now to have soup kitchens and pack food boxes for the Poor. There are no TRULY poor in this Country. Soup kitchens are nothing new. A lady from the Salvation Army used to come into our office in Ft. Smith, AR in 1953 for contributions and a friend and I used to go and eat there once in a while. You didn't make a habit of walking around with a "rain cloud" over your head. You went out and looked for a job no matter what it was.
ReplyDeleteWhy hasn't the Church excommunicated Pelosi? Good question! It's one that can be asked regarding the Kennedys, Joe Biden, Andrew Cuomo, Martin O'Malley, etc. I believe it's because all these individuals wield political/economic clout - and on account of that, our bishops are acting like cowardly toads before them.
DeleteAnd.....I believe there may be a method to their madness. Go against one of these political giants and who knows what financial ruin they could reek on the Church. Pulling tax status maybe? Whatever it is I do believe it has to be about the money. I think in their eyes it's a matter of 'keeping the status quo'. Sad.
DeleteWhen the USCCB stops being the DNC at prayer...maybe something will be done. I must say I'm finding it much easier to pray Ps 19, 8 for our left leaning prelates....May their time be short, and another take their office (traditional and orthodox of course)
