The lure of easy money from the government induced Catholic Charities to voluntarily silence its moral voice. During the 1960s it placed itself under the influence of progressive Alinskyite influences. During their 1972 annual meeting, Catholic Charities formalized the abandonment of any emphasis on personal morality and responsibility.
Anyone who's been reading this blog for some time knows of the myriad of problems with Catholic Charities:
- They contracted with a gay rights activist to engage in lobbying on their behalf.
- Arlington Catholic Charities gave assistance to an illegal alien who was arrested on drunk driving charges. Such assistance only ended after he "drank and drove" again, killing a person in the other car.
- Albany Catholic Charites spearheaded a "needle-exchange" program - not treatment, but a "change of needles".
- Richmond (VA) Catholic Charities took one of their underage clients to get an abortion - with prior knowledge of the bishop!
- Recipients of their "Centennial Medal" awards include Sister Carol Keehan and Fr Theodore Hesburgh.
