Father Z And Catholic Lane Are Wrong Big-Time

Today, via Pewsitter, I read two particularly vapid and banal pieces that had as their end the minimizing of the damage being done by Pope Francis' ill-advised utterances.  See here and here.  A rebuttal is needed, and Mundabor stepped up admirably to the plate.  I suspect Mundabor was commenting on Father Z's piece but it could apply to the Catholic Lane one as well.

Both of the authors of the articles seemed hell-bent on trying to stifle some very appropriate concern and even indignation.  Their "don't worry, be happy" approach is, in my opinion, does not conform to what Scripture and Tradition teaches as the appropriate response to evil.

These authors who attempt to paint "smiley-faces" on outright heresies emanating from the Vatican must be contradicted as vehemently as the heresies themselves for they give the Vatican heretics aid and comfort by their (hopefully misguided) attempts to silence our warnings and rebuttals.

  1. Hop on over to One Peter Five, and read Steve's article about Bishop Bruskewicz's interview that he courageously gave to Life Site. Kudo's to the good Bishop for actually acting as a true shepherd in speaking of the evil of homosexuality, even WITHIN THE CHURCH. He calls out Archbishop Cupich for his not so very Catholic, public remarks on the issue that are undoubtedly leading souls in the wrong direction. We need a whole Church full of Bishop Bruskewicz's, but I am thankful to even have one!

  2. I too do not like Pope Francis. In fact, I can hardly stand to hear anything he says or does. I think he is causing so much confusion amongst the faithful and is doing much harm to the Church. That said, I also cannot STAND Mundabor and have lately been ignoring his posts. He is vengeful, hateful, spiteful. He says things about the Holy Father that I wouldn't say to a DOG. I have made comments on Mundabor's blog in the past, respectful comments, about how he needs to be careful of his language, perhaps a visit to the confessional is called for. He never responds to my comments and routinely doesn't allow them on his comment section. All that he posts are comments that mirror HIS thoughts about the Holy Father. There are ways of criticizing people you don't agree with, even people in high places. But, making nasty remarks and name calling is NOT the correct way to do that.

I will be surprised if you allow this onto your blog especially since you say that "Mundabor stepped up admirably to the plate." Hardly admirably.

    1. Respectfully, it seems obvious to me that Mundabor's blog just isn't the place for you. And that's fine.

As for your "respectful comments about how he needs to be careful of his language, perhaps a visit to the confessional is called for.." Really? Granted, you may be phrasing those opinions and call-to-confession in what you think is being respectful but gosh. I'm not surprised that he doesn't respond or print it.

All blogs have their own rules because it's, you know, their blog. Here's Mundabor's rules and views about his own blog. Pretty straightforward stuff.

  3. Well Mary, you must be surprised. That said, I found your last two sentences and indeed your entire screed against Mundabor full of the same vitriol of which you accuse him.
He's angry and justifiably so. I find his anger to be less (if any) of a threat than I do the two posts about which we comment.

    1. I agree with Mary Fran on this one. Mundabor is interesting and usually correct from a content perspective. However, his invective and insults are inflammatory and often inappropriate.

Mary Fran, if I may, agrees (as I do) with the content of his thought, but not the spirit with which it is delivered. One must be careful reading him, because he can stir up something sinister within one's soul. Interesting blog, and I read him regularly. Still, I take his writings with a very large grain of salt. I can see how my brothers and sisters might take offense.

    2. Brian, I agree with much of what Mundabor writes about Pope Francis, but definitely NOT with his delivery style. He needs to learn manners and respect for a human being even a human being he despises. There is WAY, WAY too much anger here.

    3. Restore, I would hardly classify what I wrote as "screed". That is how I would classify most of what Mundabor writes. I try to pay as little attention to what Pope Francis says or does it upsets me so much. I agree that Pope Francis is not the humble man he portrays himself to be; he is the complete opposite. But, I would NEVER, NEVER, NEVER call him an "evil clown", an "unholy father", an "arrogant godless socialist", "the Prince of Hupocrites", an "idiot", an "uneducated ass", an "old cretin", "Pope Stupid", "Evil Clown." I would also NEVER, NEVER, NEVER say "May God strike Francis down today". All words that Mundabor has used in his own blog posts.

    4. Well I do. As I said in another reply, I find the lack of perspective in most these comments to be rather telling.

At any rate, yours is the last comment that I'm going to allow that focuses on another blogger as opposed to the main topic of my post. If you have issues with Mundabor, you'll have to take it up with him. My com-box is NOT the proper venue for venting spleens against him. Comments dealing with the main topic of my post remain welcome.

    5. The main topic of your post is other bloggers.

That being said, I REALLY enjoy your blog. I read it regularly. You have a continual stream of excellent topics and great, informative perspectives. In these days, so many of us need clarity from writers like you. Keep it up.

And aim for unity. Division within the Body of Christ is bad. Sometimes the Age we live in requires fighting for it. Maybe ALL Ages do. But regardless, unity under Jesus our Lord should be the guiding star of everything we say, write and do.

    7. The main topic of this post is opposition to those who try to squelch thought and discussion in the name of false "unity and peace". Thank you for your kind words but I reserve the right to define the topics of my own writings.

  4. If there were a moral emergency within my family, a crisis of faith in one or more of its members, I would not take a peaceful, wait and see attitude. I would not pause for time, possibly the demise of the affected party to resolve the issue, twiddling my thumbs while I peacefully wait out the storm. I would engage the problem and the persons vigorously. I would certainly not wait for someone else to do my fatherly work; the heavy lifting required of my station in life.

So why the peace and equanimity from so many clergy who should know better in the face of this spiritual attack? People; souls are being lost every day! They are Fathers to them in the Church, every bit as much as I am to my own children. Their children are asking for help, and they get silence at best; a scolding or exclusion at worst.

They are married to the Church and responsible to God for Her children. Anything less than righteous anger, resolve and resistance by force in the face of spiritual attack is utterly unacceptable. God will judge them just like He will me for the eternal welfare those we are responsible for.

  5. Your blog says "Please be respectful and courteous to others on this blog. You should tell the same to Mundabor. I agree with Mary. If we are to be kind to each other then how is it that Mundabor gets to go so far beyond the line of decency when speaking about the Holy Father? I can tell you why. He does not speak the truth in charity because his heart is full of self love and his soul is in danger because pride is the hardest vice to see within oneself.

    1. Why in the world should this blog here tell Mundabor how Mundabor should speak on Mundabor's blog?

This blog has its own standards and comment rules. And Mundabor has its own standards and comment rules.

"....then how is it that Mundabor gets to go so far beyond the line of decency when speaking about the Holy Father?" Um, because it's Mundabor's blog. Mundabor's thoughts and way of speaking.

I don't follow your point you're trying to make.

  6. I wonder why Mundabor's writings seem to be causing more of a stir than are the attempts to get faithful Catholics to stop talking and to even stop thinking about the slime oozing from the Vatican? Get real! What has the potential of leading countless souls astray: the anger of one blogger or the never-ending stream of foggy-talk and heresies coming from Vatican circles? Please have a sense of perspective!

  7. Yes... I wonder as much, too. Perhaps it is the toxic fruit of decades of poor catechesis and modernism's "just be nice" infection. Indeed the more appropriate example in this instance is our Lord with a whip in His Holy Hand & epithets like "whited sepulchures" & "brood of vipers" on His Holy Lips!

    1. As legitimate lines of authoriyy break down, everyone has their personal whips of justice to set things right. And conditions are ripe for violent, bloody, anarchic conflict.
