Magnum Principium - A Liturgical Disaster

Magnum Principium is the name of the Motu Propitio released by Pope Francis today.  It will take effect October 1, 2017.  Rorate Caeli has an excellent analysis so I don't need to reinvent that wheel.  In essence though, this papal directive will ascribe to local bishops' conferences the authority to amend liturgical texts and actions based on local proclivities.  Now just think of the wide range of differences that exist with the conferences' varying interpretations of Amoralis Lamentia; also consider that in the case of AL, the interpretations that most widely diverge from Sacred Tradition are the ones validated by this pope.

One Peter Five has an analysis, too.  In that one, this MP is contrasted to Quo Primum by Pope St. Pius V.  The latter was written to unify the liturgies of all the Church into one text and format.

I can only surmise that this Motu Propitio is just the latest deliberated step in the progressives' ultimate goal to undermine the papacy.  Recall that Our Lord called Peter "the rock on which I'll build my church".  If the rock should crack that would seriously compromise the integrity of the Church.  Our Lord promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against the church, but He never promised that the church would be unscathed.  In fact, while the Church would survive (in one fashion or another) it could be so battered as to be unable to attend to millions of souls.

Another troubling aspect of potential liturgy-tampering may be found in the phrase "lex orandi lex credendi lex vivandi".  In other words, as you pray you believe, and as you believe you live.

UPDATE - Another phrase to describe the anticipated results of this motu is Liturgical Anarchy.

  2. A COMPLETE DISASTER! This is no longer ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC Church!! Of course one believes the Creed when prayed, but we no longer HAVE the Creed!! ONE Church with hundreds of different liturgies, potentially?????? It's time to seek out the TLM. Can you even IMAGINE how some Bishops are going to 'interpret' the Latin? How SOME are going to slaughter the Eucharistic Prayer? Will some Masses even be VALID AT ALL???? Fr. Z pointed out that this could POTENTIALLY even affect the Sacraments and even Priestly Ordinations!! He is dismantling the Church, can't put it any simpler than that.

    1. What the pope did is give the bishops' conferences the power they basically had prior to the recent updates to the Mass translation.

All it means is that the translations will go back to the faulty ones prior to 2011.

It's not that big of a deal, but it's a step backwards. The Church endured the prior cruddy translations for at least 40 years.

  4. Oh, and I ALSO understand that Bishops will now have the say as to even IF the TLM is offered at ALL in their Diocese. In earlier days I would think myself 'overreacting', but I don't think I am with this Satanic BOMB Bergoglio has ignited. I also understand that the Bishops will now have the right to impose 'Communion in the hand only', 'standing at the Consecration', 'revising' Sacramental Rites like Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders etc. and denying Communion to those who do not 'co operate'. Of course, they must run their 'revisions' past the CDW, but have you seen the list of characters that now grace the CDW?? They're going to 'deny' a modernist Bishop ANYTHING THEY WANT???? Don't think so. Pray for Cardinal Sarah!! He has been all but shut out in any decision making process, which no doubt was the plan all along. It's a diabolical fire that we are being forced to watch (and live) in the Church of Christ. You think some of these Bishops won't forbid TLM's in their Diocese after they've completely destroyed any validity left in the N.O. Mass? Think again. These Masons will stop at NOTHING to completely destroy the Church. NOTHING.
