Cardinal Dolan Just Loves Parades, Doesn't He?

Yep!  Especially when they have progressive flavors to them!  On the New York Archdiocesan blog, he is urging a strong Catholic presence in the (drums and trumpets, please!)

PEOPLE'S CLIMATE MARCH!

Oh joy, oh joy!  What a way to waste a Sunday afternoon!  Let's take a look at People's Climate March's website.  A decent indication of the mess that this is can be found in the "partners" subpage.  Therein we see "the usual gang of suspects".
  • Humanist Society of Metropolitan New York
  • Progressive Democrats of America
  • SEIU (several chapters)
  • Code Pink
  • MoveOn.org
  • NAACP
  • Communist Party USA
  • National Islamic Committee on Scouting (did they participate in the Muslim Day Parade?)
  • AFL-CIO (several chapters)
  • Council on American-Islamic Relations
  • Dignity/New York
  • Socialist Party  USA
  • Leadership Conference of Catholic Religious (several progressive nun orders are listed)
  • Pagan Cluster
  • Pax Christi
So now you can see that this escapade is simply another venue to shill for more governmental encroachment and more acceptance of atheistic and socialistic ideas and general brainlessness - all to create "a world safe from the ravages of climate change".

For an example of sheer stupidity, get a load of this "event" - "Living Without Fossil Fuels".  Now consider how most of these attendees will have arrived at this event - with some utilization of fossil fuels.

That Cardinal Dolan would pollute a Catholic site with this nonsense is - not at all surprising.

Don't The Bishops Get It Yet??

Last week I wrote a post when the news of the HHS mandate broke.  You might recall that the bishops were shocked - just shocked! - when the Messiah Most Miserable knifed us all in the back.  Why they were surprised is anyone's guess, as we've been warning them all along that if you get too close to a chained dog, it might bite.  Today my friend Stephanie Block had a similar piece posted on Speroforum; please take a look.

I had begun to entertain hopes that the bishops might finally be wising up to the progressive moles in their midst and moving to eliminate them.  Silly me!!  Such dreams seem not to be!

Comes now the news that the USCCB is starting a fasting program on Fridays.  However, this is a First Fridays for Food Security Fast.  If any is so gullible as to follow this, they will "fast" by eating according to the USDA Modified Thrifty Food Plan (whatever happened to fish on Fridays?)!

On the second page, we see the obligatory homage given to the "climate change/global warming" myth.  We are even urged to "take the St Francis Pledge".  They must not have gotten the memo about Cycle 25, but I don't want to digress too much!

Now why, oh why, did they announce this goofiness just now?  Is it because Lent is not too far away, and they're trying to gin us up for another "lenten carbon fast"?  Or... Could it be an attempt of the progressive puppet-string-holders in the USCCB to mollify Obama and friends by showing them that despite all the "tough talk" by some bishops, that they are in control and that they still remain good little lemmings of the left?  With all of the obvious serious problems going on now, why else would they spew forth this bile?

Maybe it's just because old habits are hard to break.  However, if the bishops are serious about standing up to the Messiah Most Miserable, they will do some thorough house-cleaning at the USCCB and toss out all the progressive trojan horses that undermine authentic Catholic teaching and action.

Climategate 2?

It looks like more emails have been disclosed that show the "global warming" - oops!  I mean "cimate change" (my bad!) hysteria to be completely contrived.  Of course the aims are:
  1. to induce gullible people to cede to the government more and more control over our lives (dictating the cars we buy, the light bulbs we use)
  2. to justify our own stagnation of economy and technology (gotta curb our carbon footprints, you know!)
Of course it's a disgrace when the government latches onto this to advance its own growth of power.  It's even more so when progressives within the Church likewise glom onto this (probably to keep those "faith-based" grants rolling in?).  We'll recall all this to mind when they try to trot out yet another "lenten carbon fast'.
