This is a two-part post. From today's Lifenews we read that on August 25th, the Obama administration brought in Planned Parenthood, the National Abortion Federation and the Feminist Majority Foundation to conduct a "training" in Oregon for the FBI and Department of Justice. The topic? Why, "violence against reproductive health centers", of course! By describing our First Amendment speech as violent, they seek to inhibit us from speaking out. I would suspect that is why they allowed prolife advocates to sit in on this training. The advocates who attended obtained a booklet; it is on the Lifenews site and the pdf is downloadable.
The second part of this post pertains to Obama's paranoia regarding Fox News, as reported by Newsmax. You see, unlike those paragons of unbiased reporting such as the New York Times and the Washington Post (stop snickering!), Fox News has the audacity to (Sit down, now! Have the smelling salts handy) a point of view that is (gasp!) DESTRUCTIVE! How so, you might ask? Why, it's because the Messiah Most Miserable disagrees with it! Understand now?

Champions Of Choice?
If by "choice" we mean the unbridled license to murder helpless unborn children, then I must say that the charlatan-doctors described below are exemplars of that movement.
Onenewsnow reports that in Orlando FL, abortionist Randall Whitney was arrested for skipping out on his trial. He had been charged with felonious assault of a patient. He had tried and failed several times to give her an injection. When she started complaining, he slapped her. Is this what the pro-choice crowd calls "dignified treatment of women"? As he was being hauled away, he could be heard telling the pro-lifers who reported him that they'd "be sorry". Let us pray that he stays behind bars.
Closer to home in Maryland, we get a more detailed look at the background of Nicola Riley, one of the abortionists whose licenses were suspended in the Stephen Brigham debacle. It seems that her prior career in the military was equally chequered. While in the Army, she allegedly directed a credit card fraud and identity theft ring. After doing time in the Ft Leavenworth military prison, she went on to obtain her degree. It took several tries over two years to pass the first part of the exam (passing within 5 points). After another fifteen months to finish the exam entirely, she got right into baby-killing. By the way - her license is suspended in Maryland, but she is currently killing babies in Salt Lake City, UT.
In the medical community, abortionists are not well-regarded. Now we know why.

Archbishop Nienstedt Stands For True Marriage
Archbishop John Nienstedt of the Archdiocese of Minneapolis is sending DVDs to the homes of area Catholics to urge support for a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage in Minnesota. Sane and sensible Catholics applaud the Archbishop for his defense of marriage and family.
Then there are the other types of Catholics. A bunch of them have developed a website called "returnthedvd". Says one such person (as quoted in the Star/Tribune), "We just disagree that this is a priority. It's really not a matter we should be about as compassionate Christians. I think we should stress inclusiveness and the poor and people in need."
Flashback to yesterday's post about the "Minions Of The Nanny State". What was one key point? It's that these so-called "social justice" types want to cloak their deadly dissent in a veneer of "compassion", etc. I say their dissent is deadly because, if unchecked, it will grease the slippery slopes towards eternal damnation for those foolish enough to drink their kool-aid.
One such dissident is Lucinda Naylor, who is the former artist in residence at the Basilica of St Mary in that diocese. We read in the Minnesota Independent that she plans to create a sculpture made of the returned dvd's - to create a message of "creativity and hope"! Doesn't that sound so lovely?

Highlights From Some Fellow Bloggers
My fellow blogger at An Archdiocese of Washington Catholic comments on the second time that the Messiah Most Miserable omitted the word "Creator" from his quote of the Declaration of Independence. Yes, he did it again! I agree with him and Fr. Z's Blog that this is no coincidence. This omission is done with deliberation. Now think about it. There really is quite a logical reason why Obama (and other progressives) might want to erase awareness of the true origins of our rights. If they are not given to us by our Creator, then who gives them to us? Why, the government, of course! And then our rights become quite alienable. These folks know what they are doing, and it is quite sinister. Those who deny it are either accomplices to the malfeasance or inexcuably naive.
Another fellow blogger, Les Femmes - The Truth, posted a piece today concerning Cooperation with Evil. I urge you to read it. Scroll all the way to the bottom to access a piece written by the late Archbishop Fulton Sheen called "Love Is Not Tolerance". How often do we hear that word "tolerance" bandied about today? Clearly its main use is to inhibit the telling of truth about acts inherently sinful, such as abortion, sodomy, contraception, etc.
Both these blogs can be found to the right of your screen. I encourage you to browse through them and the others as well.

Gianna Jessen, Abortion Survivor
Gianna Jessen wasn't born in the normal sense of the word. She was expelled from her mother's womb during a failed saline abortion attempt on her life. Ann Coulter At The Homocon Conference
When I heard that Ann Coulter was speaking at the GOProud HomoCon conference, I thought she had gone "turncoat" on us. I bet some of the gays in that crowd were likewise convinced. Ann corrected all our misconceptions, according to this Lifesite News account.
Ann is usually right to the point. When she started talking about gay marriage, she said, “I should warn you: I've never failed to talk gays out of gay marriage." She then said that marriage “is not a civil right — you’re not black.” If the GOProud wanted an interesting talk, they got it in spades and more. See the link for more of her talk.

It's A Permanent Closure!
On Friday I reported that a Severna Park abortuary had tentatively closed due to difficulties finding a baby-butcher who would do the murders.

Coming Soon To Montgomery County
The current membership of the Montgomery County Council two years ago voted to give so-called "trangender" people special rights that will fly in the face of all other people. As we fought to bring the measure to ballot, the proponents of this measure mocked us for our concerns. Unfortunately our concerns are vindicated by an account (from Lifesite News) of a sixth-grade boy, who thinks he's a cross-gender girl, who, by ruling of the Maine Human Rights Commission, was granted the right to use the girls' rest room at school.
What renders this story particularly tragic are the boy's equally confused parents. Instead of seeking help for the boy that he so desperately needs, they are falling right into lockstep with this madness. I can only surmise that they aren't playing with full decks either. At any rate, they are only exaserbating the poor boy's very serious difficulties.
Duchy Trachtenberg and Dana Beyer originated the slop that has placed the above-described scenario in our not-too-distant future. Fortunately they both lost their primary elections a few weeks ago. In November, let's retire as many of the other council members as possible.

One big answer is relatively simple. They think by waxing self-righteous on relatively trivial matters, that they can somehow assuage their consciences that have been seared by their sexual immorality and advocacy of legalized murder of helpless children.
Boys and girls, can we all say the word "pharisee"? Phariseeim is NOT the following of the law to the letter, as so many liberals would have us believe. It is the attempt to substitute man-made traditions for God's law. Want proof? Read Mark 7:1-9.
We even see that in many of the Church's "social justice" crusades who both crusade for the poor (a good in and of itself) while at the same time advocating dissent from the Magisterium's key teachings and/or celebrating those who do dissent. A great "case-in-point" is the Catholic Charities Centenial Celebration that ends tonight; I've posted details in a previous post. Another dismal sign of that is the so-called Just Faith program that has infested way too many parishes in the Archdiocese of Washington. Jack Jesreel, its founder, openly brags how his so-called "ministry" has influenced Catholics to "crusade" for women's ordination and gay rights.

I was in 6th grade when the misinterpretations of Vatican II began to corrode and stupify my Catholic education. Even as a child, I could understand that something was amiss. All our textbooks said was what a prophet that "Martin Luther King is" (at the time, he was still alive). Then we spent one class listening to Andy Williams sing "Born Free". It is only by God's grace that I still have my faith. Not all survived unscathed.

Maryland's Gubernatorial Race
Note - The following is my opinion only. I'm not some guru, just a citizen exercising First Amendment Rights.
The last two posts (and other posts more in the past) make plain my belief that in Maryland's general election, there is no solid pro-life candidate running for that office. The Republicans had such a primary candidate, Brian Murphy, but he lost to Bob Ehrlich. The GOP establishment was stacked in Ehrlich's favor, giving him an unfair advantage, but that is its own rant. I'd have to say that right now we have a flaming pro-abort and two iffy candidates running for governor.
Who's the "flaming pro-abort"? Do we really need to ask that question? Martin O'Malley is endorsed by Maryland NARAL. What more needs be to be said? He's been a disaster for Maryland, just given the taxes. There are no positive points to his candidacy. The other two are superior to O'Malley without a doubt. But of these two, is one better than the other?
Regarding Eric Knowles, I've already detailed why I believe his pro-life plank is flawed. He seems to be more libertarian than conservative. Libertarians seem to have a rather stunted appreciation of the legitimate role of government and the rule of law. There is a reluctance to acknowledge the responsibility of government to protect the helpless from unjust aggression. That's not what it means to be appreciative of true liberty; it's more of dodging proper responsibilities. That being said, he does seem to favor restricting abortion in Maryland.
Bob Ehrlich is the second of the two tepid alternatives. I've heard several arguments in favor of his candidacy; none have to do with any sterling qualities of Ehrlich himself. One such argument is that he won't work against pro-life legislation as would O'Malley. That's probably true enough. Still, isn't it a sad commentary on the citizens of Maryland when the best candidate they have is one who won't sabatogue pro-life efforts? Another is that "we need a Republican governor to help redraw the districting maps". I will say this. When the Dems did their map redraw a few years ago, they made a royal mess of it - no logic at all. Take a look at Federal District 4; it is like a long snake, with the bottom end in Charles County and the top end in upper Montgomery County, MD. Does this make sense? Now for the objections against Ehrlich. I've already reported what he did to Bob Smith in 2004, when Ehrlich fired Smith because Smith voiced his Catholic beliefs privately. Ladies and gentlemen, this isn't "water under the bridge". What Ehrlich did to Smith he actually did to each and every one of us who dares to bring our faith and morality into the public square - which is our right and responsibility. Ehrlich has never apologized for his moral malfeasance. To me, that's a clear indication that he'd be inclined to do so again, should another occasion arise.
To sum up, O'Malley is most definitely unacceptable. Between Ehrlich and Knowles, it's a toss-up. Again, that's just my opinion - take it or leave it.

Commentary On My Communications With The MD Constitution Party
I would like to preface my comments with a quote from the Declaration of Independence: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."
One of the questions I had asked was whether or not Knowles would support a human life amendment. To be fair, I could have quoted some of the language that pro-life circles have been advocating for years. Actually a number of bills have been floated over the years; all of them can be found at the website of the National Committee for a Human Life Amendment. One such amendment, authored by the late Senator Jesse Helms in 1981, reads:
Section 1 The right to life is the paramount and most fundamental right of the human person.
Section 2 With respect to the right to life guaranteed to persons by the fifth and fourteenth articles of amendment to the Constitution, the word "person" applies to all human beings, irrespective of age, health, function, or condition of dependency, including their unborn offspring at every stage of their biological development including fertilization.

Upon the defeat of Brian Murphy for the Republican nomination to run for Maryland governor, I looked at the website of Eric Knowles, the MD Constitution Party nominee to run for that office. I copied and pasted it here and I put in bold the statements that cause me to raise my eyebrows.

Bishop Vasa: USCCB Has No Intrinsic Authority
Let me say that I am glad that I can follow the previous post with this. The previous post related the deplorable behavior of a bishop in undermining Catholic teaching. Several days ago, Bishop Robert Vasa of Baker, Oregon made clear that the USCCB contains no intrinsic authority.
This quote from Lifesite News sums it up nicely. Bishop Vasa said of USCCB documents, "Such documents do not become normative for a particular diocese unless the bishop, either explicitly or implicitly, recommends them.” Additionally, he made clear that no bishop has any obligation to adopt USCCB documents.
He then went on to give his evaluation of some USCCB documents. He made clear that he believes that at least some are inferior and lead to confusion regarding authentic Church teaching. The article calls to mind the similar stance assumed by Bishop Joseph Martino, Archbishop Raymond Burke and others who found it necessary to contradict the USCCB.
I salute these good bishops for standing for orthodoxy in the face of the progressive-infested USCCB. I do have a minor difference. I see no good in the USCCB, as it is overrun with nefarious elements and thus think it better that the whole cabal be disbanded, and its resources put to better use - but that's just my opinion.

British Bishop Waffles On Church Teaching
The smoke has scarcely cleared away from Pope Benedict's departure jet and already the lead British bishop is falling all over himself in downplaying the Magisterium's clear proclamations regarding marriage.
From Lifesite News, we read, and I quote, "Attempting to defend the Catholic hierarchy from accusations of being opposed to the homosexualist political agenda around the world, Archbishop Vincent Nichols of Westminster hastened to assure the BBC’s Huw Edwards, 'That’s not true.'” Right off the bat, we see a problem. Why did the archbishop see a need to "defend the Catholic hierarchy"? The fact is that the Church is vehemently opposed to the gay political agenda that seeks to distort marriage to its own perverted ends. Instead of defense, what would have been appropriate is polite but bold acknowledgment that the Church promotes God's will in all areas of human life, and that it's the gays that must apologize to the world for the harm they are inflicting. Note I said "apologize" instead of "defend", for in reality, the gay agenda is indefensible.
Archbishop Nichols made his remarks during a panel discussion that included a gay Anglican professor and a "catholyc" professor known for her dissent on abortion and marriage. Why did not the archbishop stand and act like, well, a bishop and call these two on the carpet for their destructive advocacies? Now when the dissenter "accused" the Church of interfering in British politics concerning sexual morality, the archbishop gave a response so pathetic that it will be unbelievable unless I again quote verbatum: "“It’s not true. The times we interfere most in British politics are either to do with poverty or to do with education. The media is obsessed with certain questions. But if you want to know what we’re really passionate about, it’s about the fight against poverty and the education of young people.”
If ever you wanted prima facae evidence that the so-called "social gospel" is usurping the proper priority that must be given to moral issues of life and sexuality, and that weak bishops are using such advocacy as a cloak for their vaccilations, well voila!! So that's in England. What does that have to do with situations in the US? Plenty! How often have you seen on this blog warnings of the damage done by the so-called "social justice" cabal? Most (not all!) of that bunch are progressives; certainly their leadership is dominated by such.
Two immediate concerns come to mind.
From Lifesite News, we read, and I quote, "Attempting to defend the Catholic hierarchy from accusations of being opposed to the homosexualist political agenda around the world, Archbishop Vincent Nichols of Westminster hastened to assure the BBC’s Huw Edwards, 'That’s not true.'” Right off the bat, we see a problem. Why did the archbishop see a need to "defend the Catholic hierarchy"? The fact is that the Church is vehemently opposed to the gay political agenda that seeks to distort marriage to its own perverted ends. Instead of defense, what would have been appropriate is polite but bold acknowledgment that the Church promotes God's will in all areas of human life, and that it's the gays that must apologize to the world for the harm they are inflicting. Note I said "apologize" instead of "defend", for in reality, the gay agenda is indefensible.
Archbishop Nichols made his remarks during a panel discussion that included a gay Anglican professor and a "catholyc" professor known for her dissent on abortion and marriage. Why did not the archbishop stand and act like, well, a bishop and call these two on the carpet for their destructive advocacies? Now when the dissenter "accused" the Church of interfering in British politics concerning sexual morality, the archbishop gave a response so pathetic that it will be unbelievable unless I again quote verbatum: "“It’s not true. The times we interfere most in British politics are either to do with poverty or to do with education. The media is obsessed with certain questions. But if you want to know what we’re really passionate about, it’s about the fight against poverty and the education of young people.”
If ever you wanted prima facae evidence that the so-called "social gospel" is usurping the proper priority that must be given to moral issues of life and sexuality, and that weak bishops are using such advocacy as a cloak for their vaccilations, well voila!! - The November 2nd elections. No doubt some of you are receiving "voter guides" from your states' Catholic conferences. I'd bet that many of them don't differentiate the non-negotiable issues (abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, gay lifestyle) from other issues upon which good people may disagree (death penalty, environmental issues, taxation). Not all issues are the same. If a candidate seems right on most of them, but promotes a "pro-choice" platform, he/she is not worthy of a Catholic's vote - even if that candidate dares to call him/herself a Catholic!
- The in-pew collection for Catholic Campaign for Human Development is almost upon us. I would urge that you boycott it, as the collection proceeds are usually funnelled to organizations that oppose Church teaching. Chicago CCHD is exempted from my recommendation here. As I've explained previously, the Chicago CCHD has taken significant steps to correct its grant-giving process and at this time seem acceptable.

Another Maryland Abortuary Down The Tubes
Last week I commented on Stephen Chase Brigham, a multi-state abortionist who lost his license along with two others in his employe. While he was embroiled in trouble in Cecil County, a few miles south in Severna Park, MD, Romeo Ferrer, who ran the Gynecare Center there, was having his license suspended.
From Christian News Wire, we read that he hired another abortionist, Ghevont Wartanian, to continue his slaughter. This man had his own problems. He had over 18 lawsuits to his credit, and the results of his "healing arts", besides the murders of countless babies, include patient brain damage and the deaths of newborn babies. It seems that the spectre of a 40 Days for Life Campaign was a little too much for him to endure (the 40 Days started September 22nd). He cancelled all his appointments and made clear to the staff that he wouldn't return. Thank you, 40 Days for Life!
We pray that no other abortionist can be found and that this closure will be permanent.

Archbishop Broglio Rebukes Catholycs For Equality
This is from the Catholic News Agency and again I thank An Archdiocese of Washington Catholic.
When the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" repeal attempt failed in the Senate (Deo Gratias!), Timothy Broglio, Archbishop for the Military Services, pointed out that a group can call itself "Catholic" only if it has ecclesial approval, and that due to its dissident positions, Catholycs for Equality cannot legitimately call itself a Catholic group.
Kudos for this archbishop!

Goodness! We have yet another egregious breach of the "wall between church and state". Church leaders are being asked to shamelessly take partisan positions and to urge the same upon their congregations! So let's hurry up and get the ACLU on this immediately!

From the Catholic News Agency (and thanks to An Archdiocese of Washington DC Catholic), we read that Messiah Most Miserable and his Minions Most Mediocre are "rallying religious leaders to spread the word on new health care legislation to reinforce public support and to raise awareness about the effects of new insurance reforms." And there's more! "President Obama told faith leaders to treat the new law as settled fact and to use their influence to convey that message to congregants."
Permit me to paraphrase - or, if you will, to divine what the Teleprompter really said. "Got that?? It's settled fact! No more opposition allowed! Make damned certain your congregations accept that! Do you hear me?? Now fall in line!"
He then goes on to say that "the debate is over". Well obviously he's doing all he can to ignore the results of the elections so far. This matter is far from over. We're not going to rest until the Hell Bill is consigned to the dung heap of history. Remember when Roe v Wade was decided? They tried to say that the decision settled abortion - famous last words!
By the way - I was just kidding about the ACLU! We all know their double-standards. If church leaders are being asked to espouse politically correct immorality or progressive positions, they look the other way. But had a priest dared to preach against voting for pro-abortion candidates, the ACLU would have been stomping into his church the next day demanding his ouster.
Important note to Republicans This is not just an Obama-fiasco. Bush laid the groundwork for this mess when he led the charge for this "faith-based group partnership". It was unconstitutional from the get-go, and it created the infrastructure that the forces of death are now using. I was called a nay-sayer by some pro-lifers because I knew this would be a snake-in-the-grass. Now, voila! Can we learn some lessons here?

Another Photo From The 9/12/10 Rally
After the pro-life reminder described in my previous post, this one was my personal favorite.
Let this serve as a prophetic statement as to what will happen to the careers of those who promote the murders of the tiny unborn children, general corruption of morals and national rejection of the Triune God.
Ladies and gentlemen, vote. After that, never, ever, let yourselves lapse into ignorance and apathy. One thing that I heard more than once that day was how "awakened" people were, now that the country is headed down that device that's depicted above. They weren't involved before, but now they're "gung ho".
Well, that's nice. But what were they thinking before these personal epiphanies? Perhaps a better question is "were they thinking at all"? In all these testimonies, no one acknowledged that a cause of the national malaise was the general apathetic state in which they wallowed. Such lack of admission causes me to fear a bit that once Obama's defeated, that they'll just slide back into mental oblivion - and spiritual oblivion too, for that matter.
"The price of liberty is eternal vigilance". Note that word "eternal". That means our watchfulness cannot be relaxed for one iota of a second. We must constantly watch, pray and work. While we are on this side of the grave, we are the Church Militant - not the "church mellow", but the Church Militant.

Tea Party Rally On Sunday Sept 12, 2010
This year's gathering was a bit smaller than last year's, as the press might have told you. Of course they probably didn't bother to mention the huge Glenn Beck rally two weeks prior to that, or that many who attended last year are working on political campaigns.
Nonetheless there are concerns regarding the mindsets of some tea-partiers. I attended, and I saw many signs protesting the encroaching socialism, the take-over of health care and other industries, the skyrocketing taxes, etc. However, I saw only one of these.

This was the only sign I saw that was designed to keep in the consciousness of Americans the prime social evil of our day - the deliberated slaughter of babies in their mothers' wombs, fostered and fomented by all levels of civil government.
To all tea-partiers reading this: Unless you keep this issue at the forefront of your efforts, you will follow the socialists, RINOs, etc into the dung heap of irrelevance. Please do not listen to Haley Barbour and his ilk who want to forget about our moral matters. Rather, heed the lessons taught by Christine O'Donnell and others like her.
We Must Be Doing Something Right!
At least that can be said about the upcoming conservative candidates who are besting long-entrenched pro-abortion incumbents. Christine O'Donnell of New Jersey comes to mind. Planned Parenthood is all atwitter about her and her counterparts across the country, as you can see from this "action alert" (posted on Jill Stanek's blog).
Got that? They are so shocked that they're...asking for money ! Who'da thunk it? They're even frightened! Eeek! Eeek!
But it ain't over until it's over! And no, I don't mean that a successful November election will mean that we're done. After that election, we need to plod ahead and not stop "for a breather". Turning this Culture of Death into a Culture of Life will require a lifetime of prayer and work from each and every one of us while we're still in the realm of the Church Militant.

Obama Misquotes Declaration Of Independence
This happened during the Congressional Hispanic Gala last week. The correct pertinent line in the Declaration is, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." Listen very closely at around the 22:30 mark.
A key phrase did he omit: "by their Creator". No, that's not just a minor slip-up. He has been omitting the Creator throughout his entire chequered career.
I didn't listen to the entire drivvel. I did take note how he complained about the Republicans blocking his "work". Oh, really? Last time I checked, the Dems controlled both houses of Congress. How is it that things are slowing a tad? Could it be some of the Dems doing that? Perhaps they see that Obama's policies are toxic to their political hides and are scurrying away from association with him like cockroaches scurry from light. It won't work, though, judging from recent events.

MD Primary Election Results
With one notable exception, the Republican gubernatorial race, the results were generally favorable.
First, all federal office incumbents won their respective primaries. Roscoe Bartlett of US district 6 is the only incumbent we'd like to see win the general election. Now on to some hopefully new faces in DC. For US Senate, I had favored Jim Rutledge, but Eric Wargotz won that race. Wargotz is still quite acceptable and I urge support for him. For the House of Representatives, in District 1, Andy Harris will run against "blue dog" Frank Kratovil. Support Harris. In Districts 4 and 5, let's support Robert Broadus and Charles Lollar respectively. Lollar runs against Steny Hoyer, the current House Majority Leader. Leaving aside the fact that we hope the democrats will have the "minority leader", Hoyer's defeat would be a strategic plus for us. In District 8, I had supported Mike Phillips. He holds a slim lead, which makes that race too close to call at this time.
Let's look at the Montgomery County Council. The big news is (drum roll, please!)...
That's right! Duchy Trachtenberg got blown away in the primary. This former Maryland NOW president has been an absolute menace to babies and families. First she authored the "gender identity" bill, against which so many of us fought, then she authored the bill that slapped onorous regulations on the pro-life pregancy centers in Montgomery County. Duchy and her equally nefarious sidekick, Dana Beyer (whose political aspirations were likewise slapped down in the MD district 18 delegate primary), will NOT be missed. Good bye - and good riddance!
The same page that details Trachtenberg's defeat is the same that tracks the Republicans running for at-large seats on the County Council. Robert Dyer leads the pack (but not by much). He was the only candidate (to my knowledge) that rightly criticized the passage of the pregnancy center strangle-hold regulations.
I'm now going to say quite a bit about the Republican gubernatorial primary. Some of this may be rather unpopular to my readers; so be it. Brian Murphy, new to the political world, lost to Bob Ehrlich. However, he did quite well (garnering 25%) of the vote considering the obstacles he had to face -some of those obstacles arising from within the Republican party structure. In my humble opinion, it was downright unethical for the Maryland GOP to have endorsed Ehrlich before the primary had occurred. As far as I'm concerned, this sort of behavior is akin to what was meted out to Christine O'Donnell of Delaware who just handed to Mike Castle his long-overdue pink slip.
There's something that these RINO-country-club types don't want to acknowledge. When they treat good people such as Brian Murphy like pariahs, they also stick their fingers in the eyes of each and every one of the citizens. Brian Murphy has decided to endorse Bob Ehrlich - not so I. I'd also like to remind one and all of the insult that Ehrlich slapped upon Robert Smith in the summer of 2006. By extension, he knifed in the back all of us who uphold the purposes of marriage as God ordained it (I won't rehash the whole thing here, please read the link).
I will have more to say on the gubernatorial race later this week. I am awaiting some feedback.

Upcoming Sacrilege At Shrine of Immaculate Conception In DC
From the Interfaith Conference I received an email detailing The 31st Annual Interfaith Concert. I attended one several years ago - at the Shrine. It truly was a disgusting spectacle to behold: scantily-clad Hindu dancing girls prancing across the altar, Muslims chanting to "allah".
To the right is the mosaic of Christ under which the blasphemies occurred then, and will occur in two months. This is an image of Christ coming in final judgment. I cannot help but believe His countenance is just as stern when He looks upon such follies occurring within His Church. Does He love those who blaspheme? Of course He does. When will we learn, though, that it is no act of love whatsoever to allow His lost sheep to continue in their errors? We must preach His saving truth to them - not allow them to continue to trifle with their eternal destinies.
By the way - I took a little tour of the Interfaith Conference website. Talk about a trip through indifferentism! On the main page, we see that there will be an "interfaith dialog" between the Archdiocese of Washington and the Islamic Society of North America. Hey! Before when did we hear that name? Now go to the "bridge builders" page to see how the John Paul II Cultural Center was recently misused.
Now we get to have a lesson in patent dishonesty. Go to "learn about member religions" and you'll see their logo, enlarged. Each of the symbols therein is "clickable", with the links taking you to a blurb about its respective creed. Click on the "crescent and star" to be redirected to an explanation of Islam - well, kinda. It's been sanitized to an extent. The Islamic declaration of faith quoted therein is "There is no god but God and Muhammad is God’s messenger." The words in fuscha are the substituted, sanitized words for the actual originals. What really belongs there, to render it the true Islamic declaration is the word "Allah". Google the phrase "there is no god but allah" and you will bring up a gajillion Islamic sites that unambiguously proclaim that phrase. So why, oh why, does the Interfaith Conference slop around with the terminology in such fashion? I think we can all venture a guess. They want to help perpetuate the illusion that the "god" of Islam and the Judeo/Christian God are the same. They aren't - pure and simple.
The entire goal of the Interfaith Conference seems to be to quietly insinuate the heresy of indifferentism into our belief systems. The fact that the rectors of the National Shrine are allowing the Shrine to be a part of this effort is despicable. I can only hope they are truly ignorant of what they are doing. However, if they had just the slightest amount of common sense, they would have to know that something is dreadfully wrong with allowing songs to false gods to be sung before the Blessed Sacrament. As a refresher to all, I again link to Mirari Vos, written by Pope Gregory XVI in 1832. Pay special attention to paragraph 13.

Michelle Obama - "Being First Lady Is Hell"
At least that is what is reported as proceeds of the US First Lady with her French counterpart, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. It's interesting that we have to hear of these things from foreign newpapers - in this case, from England's "Daily Mail". The entire statement of Mrs Obama's is "Don’t ask! It’s hell. I can’t stand it!"
Michelle, we feel your pain! We the people also think "it's hell" that you and your husband are in the White House. We are doing all that we can to ensure that you (and us) only have two more years of the misery to endure. Judging from recent election results, we feel that your departure in that time frame is quite doable - so take heart! And who knows? Depending on the future make-up of Congress, impeachment might get you out of that prison sooner. Should that succeed, you'll have yet one more reason to be proud of your country. At least, we will! Have hope!

We are doing all that we can to ensure that you (and us) only have two more years of the misery to endure. Judging from recent election results, we feel that your departure in that time frame is quite doable - so take heart! And who knows? Depending on the future make-up of Congress, impeachment might get you out of that prison sooner. Should that succeed, you'll have yet one more reason to be proud of your country. At least, we will! The Temper Tantrums Continue
The deadly and despicable Islamic temper tantrums continue. In Kashmir they have burnt several Christian schools. This is ostensibly in response to the burning of a few quran copies. As I read this article, I saw no mention of "moderate" Islamic leaders denouncing those who engaged in the arson.
When Terry Jones first announced his plans, Christians were quick to denounce him. Why then, do we not see similar disavowals of the violence from Islamic leaders? And no, I shouldn't have to hunt far and wide all over the internet to find them; there should be press releases galore, broadcasts, etc.
To double the trauma, not only does the Islamic violence continue, but so do the incessant mea culpas from Christian congregations. CNN's Belief Blog reports that this past weekend, passages from the quran were read at the services of 20 different Christian congregations - including Catholic ones. I can only presume that these passages were read during Mass. Mass wasn't mentioned, but what other religous service would there be in a Catholic church over the weekend? The article doesn't make clear as to whether the quran was read in addition to the readings for Cycle C of the 24th week in Ordinary Time - or in lieu of those canonically-required passages from the Bible. Both constitute egregious insults to the Holy Mass.
Of course this article makes no mention of any passages from the Bible being read at Islamic mosque services. In fact, though, what we should expect is that the Islamic moderates will rebuild the schools in Kashmir to atone for the misdeeds of their more unruly brethren - but don't hold your breath waiting for that one.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to grow up and grow a back bone. It's time to insist upon some proportionality here. Islamic fundamentalists, for too long, have engaged in murderous rampages of riot and mayhem on the slightest pretext of insult. Very rarely, if ever, do the so-called "moderates" amongst them stand them down. If any call my obvervations "islamophobic" or some other politically-correct buzz word, you're living in laa-laa land. It's time to wake up and smell some coffee here.
For our part, too many of our wimpy leaders roll over and expose not only their own throats, but ours as well to these thugs. To the USCCB, to Cardinal McCarrick to the cathedral in Sacramento and to these Florida churches, please stop licking the boots of these terrorists.

Mom And Her Two-Year Old
We've all witnessed scenes in a grocery or toy store when a toddler wants some goodie that his/her mother would rather not procure. Well, the toddler screems, stomps and carries on. Rather than exert her proper authority over her child, Mom gives in. You just know how that child will turn out fifteen years from that time.
The trauma in the store is a microcosym of what we see in how the civilized world relates to the Muslim world (yes they are different). We all heard of the riots and violence (resulting in at least two deaths in Afghanistan) that Muslims instigated - even before any qurans were burnt. My friend at Les Femmes, in a piece written today, spoke of the wanton murders in which they engage on the slightest pretext of insult. Last Friday, Michelle Malkin wrote a piece entitled "The Eternal Flame of Muslim Outrage". Both have described the common Muslim propensity to be perpetually angry and outraged. They are not at all unlike the hypothetical toddler who engages in infantile temper tantrums.
Unfortunately these overgrown brats have their enablers amongst us - and I mean in the Church! Two of them have recently been described in this blog: Cardinal McCarrick and the rectors of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento CA. They are among those who insist on kissing the hands of those who slap us; actually, substitute the word "murder" for "slap" as that is much more accurate. In so doing, they offer supreme insult to the families of the dead, rubbing salt into their already aching wounds. They also act to inhibit our defenses of ourselves and our loved ones; whether or not that is their intent is not for me to judge, but only a self-deluded fool will not admit that such is the effect. They only embolden the thugs to even more draconian acts of terror and destruction.
For further "food for thought", I recommend to your reading "What the Burning Quran Issue Says about Us" and "Burning Qurans and Bibles". Above all, speak out. The world desperately needs grown-ups to step up to the plate. There won't be any such example coming from the Messiah Most Miserable or his Minions Most Slavish. Nor will such example be emanating from many bishops, it seems.

Quran - Blessed In A Catholic Cathedral????
First, I thank my colleague at Orate Fratres for alerting us to this.
I suppose the pastor and parishioners of this Catholic church feel they must do obeisance to the Muslims to atone for some people burning the Quran. While Pastor Jones canceled his plans, some pastors in Tennessee burned a Quran. The Sacramento Bee reports that yesterday, the ninth anniversary of the destruction of the Twin Towers, the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament hosted a ceremony during which representatives from various "faiths" (some of them pagan). While passages were read from most (if not all) their sacred writings, only the Quran was blessed with (WAIT FOR THIS)...
(You may now pause to pull out your "Hair" vinyls and play "The Age of Aquarius") Ain't that just groovy, man? Kinda takes you back to the 1960s "summer of love" now, doesn't it?
What an insult to the famillies of those who were massacred on September 11th by Muslim terrorists! Like it or not, those terrorists were inspired by that religion of non-peace and the writings in the Quran. That book, with its murderous ideas that led to the travesty of nine years ago, was blessed? Make no mistake - I never condoned the plans to burn it, but this "blessing" was just as insulting, if not worse. By the way - did anyone notice that while the Quran was blessed, none of the books of the other faiths represented was so honored? Come to think of it, I don't recall any imams offering to bless Bibles after scores of them were torched in Afghanistan last year.

A Tale Of Executions
I just read on Zenit that Pope Benedict XVI and several bishops have requested clemency for a convicted criminal scheduled for execution in a few days. Lots and lots of highly-placed folks are weighing in on behalf of this man. It's not my purpose to comment on the merits or demerits of their actions, but to point out some painful and scandalous dichotomies.
This is one man who will be executed on September 16th. Between then and now over 20,000 babies will be executed in their mothers' wombs. This man has had a trial by peers and has exercised various appeals. These children will have no benefit of trial and no benefit of appeals.
Where are all the bishops, church councils, etc for these babies? Given the concern that they display over this man, is it really too much to ask for commensurate concern and action for each and every one of these babies?
Tomorrow is Saturday, a favorite murder-day of the abortionists. I and others will trudge out to the mills to pray and intercede for the babies. There are all too few of us. Often we are mocked, threatened, attacked, etc - while Church hierarchy looks the other way. Yes, a few good priests do come to join us, but why isn't every single priest out there on a regular basis?
I never could figure out why so many in the "social justice" crowd got so exercised about capital punishment and yet espoused "pro-choice" beliefs. One day it dawned on me. Pro-abortion people are opposed to capital punishment because of self-interest (their prime motivator). They instinctively realize that in a sane world, their aiding and abetting of baby-murder might well make them eligible to receive that punishment.

Koran Burning - Off, But May Be Reinstated
Pastor Terry Jones of Gainesville FL had announced a cancellation of the planned Qu'ran burning on 9/11, believing that there was a deal with the ground zero mosque imam to relocate the mosque. Now, claiming he was "lied to", Jones may reinstate the burning.
During these past few weeks, many people were quite atwitter about the whole affair. The Messiah Most Miserable warned that Jones' planned actions would "endanger US troops".
Let's go back to May 2009, to Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. A church sent some Bibles there. Since "proselitzing" was forbidden to US servicemen, the Army higher-ups took it upon themselves to confiscate and burn the Bibles. Do we recall anyone in the administration, or anywhere else for that matter, worrying about the ramifications of that draconian move? Neither do I.
One Pentagon official did recognize the insult. From the article: However military analyst and Pentagon adviser, Lt. Col. Robert Maginnis, criticized the move. "There is no need to burn the Bibles. They could have been shipped back," he said. "Just imagine if we, the same the United States military, were to take a bunch of Korans and burn them. I can imagine the ramifications across the world."
Boys and girls, can we all say "double-standard"?

As promised on August 31, I am adding more input on the Maryland elections.
Sometimes we can determine our voting choices in a round-about fashion. An example is to see whom the forces of the Culture of Death are endorsing. For example, peruse Equality Maryland PAC's list. Here's Maryland NOW's list to date; it's a bit sparse but it seems that they're trying to flesh it out a bit. MD NARAL's list is not up at this time.
So take a gander at these for those whom we want to defeat.
Let me say a word about "bullet voting". It's applicable when you are allowed to vote for more than one candidate, such as three people to the MD House of Representatives. One might feel almost duty-bound to cast all three votes. However, that can actually be counter-productive. Please remember to vote for only the candidate(s) whom you truly favor. If you vote for your favorite candidate and a less-than-ideal candidate, you may inadvertently help the second one defeat the first one.
Early voting has opened up in Maryland. Go to your county board of elections web site to learn how to take advantage of this. For those who will be "working the polls" on Election Day, this will help you exercise your own voting duty.

McCarrick Blooper - Embracing Indifferentism?
In a comment to my Sept 2nd post regarding the Standard article, I reminded one and all about an address Cardinal McCarrick gave in 2005 in which he invoked "allah" three times without so much as mentioning the name of Jesus Christ once. Here is the text of that address.
Well, he did it again, so to speak. He was a featured speaker at a press conference put on by the Islamic Society of North America, joining the parade of progressives who are denouncing opponents of the Ground Zero mosque as engaging in "derision" and "bigotry".
Those of us who have heard the Cardinal know that he is a master at the usage of double negatives in his verbal discourses. From elementary school grammar lessons, we know that double negatives cancel out the "negative" meaning of the sentence in which they're embedded. It's a way to say something while leaving enough verbal "wiggle room" to deny responsibility for the statement. He gave an example of this rather devious technique at this press conference. To wit:
Cardinal McCarrick: “As an American, I believe that we all have a right to practice what God tells us is his message to us and if therefore, if someone – if someone sees the Gospel as the truth of God’s presence in our world, that person should embrace the Gospel. If a person sees the Qu’ran as proof of God’s presence in the world, then I cannot say, ‘don’t embrace the Qu’ran’ so that I think we – we should always be willing to talk to people and we should always be willing to love them and we should always be willing to allow them that freedom of conscience which comes from God.”
Your Eminence, what do you mean with this "I cannot say don't embrace the Qu'ran"? For you, by virtue of your Sacrament of Holy Orders and of being a Prince of the Church, you must proclaim the Gospel and its supreme truth. That is not optional, that is your solemn obligation!
What is also amazing is that this statement is made in response to a rather straight-forward question. He was asked if he believed a Muslim born in Mecca should have the right to convert to Catholicism. The Cardinal never gave a clear answer to that question. Please visit the link to the press conference; on that page is a video of the interview with Cardinal McCarrick (I can't embed that here).
The New Advent website gives a concise definition of religious indifferentism. I think we saw His Eminence openly proclaiming that at the press conference. Pope Gregory XVI, in his encyclical Mirari Vos, condemned this indifferentism as a heresy (see section 13).
Do you think we'll see this in the next Catholic Standard? We've seen more stupid things therein now, haven't we?

Stephen Chase Brigham, Another Abortionist Hack-Loser
On August 13, at an abortion mill in Elkton Maryland, an 18 year old woman had her uterus perforated and her bowel cut. Dr Nora Riley did the hack job. She and Steven Brigham took her to Union Hospital in a rented car. Mind you, they did not call an ambulance! According to this WJZ report, they were very cagey with hospital personnel about what happened. The hospital called the police.
Brigham has already had his license suspended. Thus, to operate his mills, he has to hire "circuit riders". Riley comes in every other week from Salt Lake City, Utah. The mill's supervisor, George Shepard, comes in from Delaware.
The state of Maryland immediately suspended the medical licenses of both Shephard and Riley. They posted a "cease and desist" order on the door of the mill. Elkton police raided the mill, seizing medical records and a freezer. In the freezer they found the remains of 35 aborted babies in jars. They were close to full term (for those skeptics who think Roe v Wade outlaws late-term abortions).
So much for "safe" abortion now that it's legal. Read this report from Operation Rescue for more information.

Catholic Bloggers! Contest Time!!!
First, I'll provide some background for this proposed contest.
Remember the post about Catholics In Allliance For The Common Good? Well, it turns out that Chris Korzen, formerly affiliated with CACG and current director of Catholics United, announced that the CU group is launching its own news organization. Catholic News Agency has the full story.
Notice that he would not reveal how it will be financed; wanna bet that Soros will be helping in that regard? He did say that one purpose of this organization will be "reporting on the activities of CNA and EWTN." Sheesh! Why bother with a whole new organization? Why not just put up a one-page site that has the URLs to both CNA and ETWN? I suppose they want to put their own special leftist flavor to it. Such is their First Amendment right. When asked about whether or not this organization will be used to elect Democrats in November, Korzen was rather cagey. So what? We already know the answer to that question now, don't we?

The news of this watchfulness, however, leaves me feeling, well, INSULTED!! Aren't we Catholic bloggers troublesome enough to Korzen that they aren't snooping on us, and "reporting on our actvities"? Golly-gee-whiz!!! Doesn't that just hurt my poor widdle feel-bads? Boo-hoo! Sniffle! Whine! Sob! Waah!
Now that I've dried my tears, it's time to do something about that dismal state of affairs - hence, the contest to which I alluded at the beginning of this post. Bloggers! Let's see who will be the first amongst us to cause angst and consternation with Korzen and cabal. We know how we can determine that now, don't we? I haven't figured out a prize yet, but we can work on that later. Have fun!
Remember the post about Catholics In Allliance For The Common Good? Well, it turns out that Chris Korzen, formerly affiliated with CACG and current director of Catholics United, announced that the CU group is launching its own news organization. Catholic News Agency has the full story.
Notice that he would not reveal how it will be financed; wanna bet that Soros will be helping in that regard? He did say that one purpose of this organization will be "reporting on the activities of CNA and EWTN." Sheesh! Why bother with a whole new organization? Why not just put up a one-page site that has the URLs to both CNA and ETWN? I suppose they want to put their own special leftist flavor to it. Such is their First Amendment right. When asked about whether or not this organization will be used to elect Democrats in November, Korzen was rather cagey. So what? We already know the answer to that question now, don't we?

Catholics In Alliance For The Common Good - Defunct?
I sure hope so, and according to this Lifenews article, it seems that CACG simply outlived its usefulness in the eyes of its chief sugar-daddy, George Soros. Tom McClusky of Family Research Council opines that the main intention of CACG was to divide the Catholic vote to get Obama elected. After that happened, CACG defended Obama's appearance at Notre Dame in May 2009 and tried to go to bat for the CCHD after we shed much needed light on that corrupt cabal.

More "Respectable" Eco-Whackoism
Again, here is more evidence to make plain that James Lee's demented beliefs are all too common amongst those who adhere to "environmentalism", "animal rights", "eugenics" and the rest of the anti-human cabal.
Here is a piece from Center for Consumer Freedom showing how the Humane Society of the United States is not so "humane" after all. As you read this, note that one of the proponents of these nutty ideas is a subsidiary of Discovery Channel; did the "chickens come home to roost" last week?
Another so-called "respectable" adherent of the anti-human mindset is the European Union. They are considering a proposal to limit the usage of animals in medical research. A relevant portion of that proposal is, “Member States shall ensure that, wherever possible, a scientifically satisfactory method or testing strategy, not entailing the use of live animals, shall be used instead of a procedure.” And what might be such a "satisfactory method"? You guessed it! They would opt for the use of human embryos for said research. By the way - that's living human embryos! Joseph Mengele (the notorious Nazi doctor) would be so proud!

Yoo Hoo! Father Daly and Catholic Standard! Please Read - If You Dare!
This past Thursday I took issue with the breathtaking ignorance of Father Daly and the Catholic Standard regarding the Ground Zero mosque and Islam as a world view. Here I present more evidence, more food for thought for Father Daly, Cardinal McCarrick, the Standard and the rest of the "golly-gee-whiz-can't-we-all-just-get-along" head-in-the-clouds crowd. I hope they take it to heart, but won't be one bit surprised if they don't, seeing how they're beholden to their progressive puppet-masters with megabucks and political clout. Anyway, here goes.
We see here how this "religion of peace" is overtaking Paris. Note the arrogance of them as they literally take over the streets. There does seem to be some resistance underway, and I hope they're successful.
Now Jihad Watch is raising more questions about the funding of this mosque - and Andrew Cuomo's stonewalling of an investigation into such, despite a majority of New Yorker's wishes for such investigation. I'll now link to an article written by my colleague at the Orlando Truth giving some historical perspective about Islam - and a theory as to why the specific date of September 11 was chosen for the attacks.

Discovery Terrorist Espoused Mainline Environmentalist Mantras
James Jay Lee had a debate with American Life League activists during their "Protest the Pill" event at the 16th Street Planned Parenthood last year. The videos are posted on Jill Staneck's blog. Please read what she says, as the text and the first and third videos establish Lee's identity. It's the second one in which he espouses his warped world view.
That world view, be it ever so demented, is shared by many environmentalists: some highly placed, in positions of respectability. If you thought savetheplanetprotest was a whacky site to read, try this one - only it's not some thrown-together text on the web; it appears in Psychology Today. It's entitled "The Five Year Ban: Because A Billion Less People Is A Great Place To Start" by Steven Kotler. As the title implies, this man is calling for a 5-year moratorium on babies being born! Really, now? And just how does he think such a draconian farce of a law would be enforced? That would make Red China look benign in comparison!

Catholic Standard - Gross Naivete About Ground Zero Mosque
That is what Father Peter J. Daly, pastor of St John Vianney Parish in Prince Frederick MD, displayed in his article in the September 2nd issue of the Catholic Standard. Unfortunately (maybe deliberately??) that article is not on the Standard's website. It's on page 12 is entitled "The Mosque Controversy". The gist of the article is that Catholics who oppose this mosque should know better, since we were victims of persecution earlier in this country's history.

Protest of Patrick Kennedy Bill - I Protest The "Protest"!
Patrick Kennedy introduced a bill, HR5466 that, among other things, would ban faith-based groups from receiving federal funds if they use religion in their hiring practices. Over 100 groups are allegedly protesting this legislation, claiming that their religious freedoms are being violated. Naturally the USCCB is adding its voice to the clamor.
These so-called "faith-based" groups forget what charity is. Charity must be voluntary on the part of the donor; else, it is nothing more than slavery with a genteel veneer. Ladies and gentlemen, from where do these "federal funds" come? Our tax dollars! How many families see both parents working, and some working multiple jobs, to pay their various taxes? Is this moral? Is this "charity"? Is this how are "faith-based" groups are to be funded? It truly is a disgusting sight to behold, when otherwise Christian groups forget the commandment "thou shalt not steal" as they kick and claw for their "share of the pie", like greedy little piglets fighting for a federal teet.
Granted these groups need money. Well, here are some solutions.
These so-called "faith-based" groups forget what charity is. Charity must be voluntary on the part of the donor; else, it is nothing more than slavery with a genteel veneer. Ladies and gentlemen, from where do these "federal funds" come? Our tax dollars! How many families see both parents working, and some working multiple jobs, to pay their various taxes? Is this moral? Is this "charity"? Is this how are "faith-based" groups are to be funded? It truly is a disgusting sight to behold, when otherwise Christian groups forget the commandment "thou shalt not steal" as they kick and claw for their "share of the pie", like greedy little piglets fighting for a federal teet.
Granted these groups need money. Well, here are some solutions.
- Immediately order the Catholic Campaign for Human Development to fund those charities that are directly involved in the Works of Mercy. CCHD should fund nothing else.
- Parish priests must remind the Catholic in the pew that it is his/her solemn organization to contribute time, talent and treasure towards these charities, as opposed to lobbying for more tax dollars to go towards them. Of course such preaching must take place within the context of preaching the entirety of Catholic truth.
- If any governmental lobbying is to be done, lobby for greater tax deductability of charitable contributions. For starters, allow contributions to be deducted before AGI is calculated, no matter the income level of the taxpayer (At present, contributions are deducted only if the taxpayer can itemize).
Hostage Standoff In Silver Spring MD Today
By now most people have heard of the drama that took place in Silver Spring MD today. I needn't repeat the details as they are on most of the major news outlets. I do urge one and all to pray for God's mercy on the soul of James Lee.
According to this Reuters article, Lee had been arrested at the Discovery Building before, as he protested about environmental issues. Apparently a website called http://savetheplanetprotest.com/ is registered in his name. It demanded that Discovery aim programming to urge people to stop having babies.
A quote from this webiste is "Civilization must be exposed for the filth it is. Saving the Planet means saving what's left of the non-human Wildlife by decreasing the Human population. That means stopping the human race from breeding any more disgusting human babies!" Read the whole site. It is chock-full of the Culture of Death. As you read it, think again of the "climate change" expose done by Real Catholic TV.
