Principles Of Catholic Voting From Another Good Bishop

Bishop Felipe Estevez of the Diocese of St Augustine (FL) issued a letter to Florida Catholics urging them to "take your Catholic beliefs, values and consciences into the voting booth with you".  He then reminded them that "some issues are simply never morally acceptable".  Thanks to LifeSiteNews for the heads-up on this, as well as the link to His Excellency's letter.

Vortex On Bishop Paprocki's Proclamation Of Truth

Michael Voris comments on Bishop Paprocki's warning that those who vote for candidates promoting intrinsic evils place themselves in danger of eternal damnation.  Oh yes, Stephen Schneck and "katholycs for Obama" types, this means you!  And of course, this is also addressed to bishops and other clergy who would trifle with their own eternal fates by casting a vote for Obama and his Party of Death.  By the way, that would be the Democratic party, by dint of their choices of party platform planks.

Obamaphile In The Diocese Of Cleveland Chancery

The Vortex has blown the cover off the Director of Social Justice for the Diocese of Cleveland.  Her name is Karen Leith, and as her Facebook page reveals, is fully ensconced in progressivism.   As Voris suggests, take a look at her facebook page and notice her "likes" of the past few years.  I took a look at the "friends" and recognized James Salt.

Bishop Lennon has put her in charge of "explaining" Faithful Citizenship to the parishioners of Cleveland.  In other words, she is being placed in prime position to undermine the Church's teachings on citizenship. She's done other teaching on various topics throughout the diocese.  As I examine this page of her teaching credentials, I notice that she's taught "labyrinth".  How special!

I hope someone from Cleveland watches this and sounds a tocsin quickly.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Rally September 30th - Be There

This is a reminder about the rally to pray and protest the HHS mandate that will be held downtown on Sunday, September 30th.  Please click here to see that post and its details.

I'd also ask that you read to the very end of that post.  While I fully agree that the HHS mandate must be opposed now lest we be forced to suffer its consequences, I do not believe the strategy of provoking arrest serves any purpose and may be sinful itself.  Let us remember that while the Christian martyrs throughout the ages accepted and endured their sufferings rather than compromise with the world, they did not deliberately provoke them.  Moreover, one does not protest an unjust law by breaking another, wholly-unrelated law that is at worst morally neutral.

I hope to see many of you down there.

Protest Of Romney In Cleveland - Backfires TWICE

Yesterday Romney was protested in Cleveland.  An intrepid journalist interviewed some of the protesters and learned a few things about the caliber (or lack thereof) of the protesters.  First, it was there that we were all introduced to the woman who is now (in)famous as the "Obama Phone Lady".  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

This video has now gone viral -much to the chagrin of the Messiah Most Miserable.  Realizing it was "damage-control" time, the Minions Most Mindless sent out tweets to distance themselves from their loyal "phone lady".  They are reportedly resorting to a very old schtick - blaming Bush!  Old habits die hard!

As you were watching the lady, perhaps you noticed that in the background, many of the protesters were carrying SEIU signs.  It seems that SEIU shelled out a few dollars to convince all those "dedicated" folks to protest in the rain.  See this interview.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

If this is the sort of crap to which the Obama cartel resorts to shore up their flagging campaign efforts, they are indeed a sorry lot.  However, there is a warning here.  We see that they'll stoop very low to get their little puppet elected.  We must turn out in droves to offset any shenanigans they will attempt.

Solid Catholic Voices On Voting

In yesterday's post I linked to Bishop Paprocki's letter on voting.  If you haven't read it yet, please do so.  Today I learned that Archbishop John Myers (Archdiocese of Newark, NJ) released a pastoral letter to his archdiocese entitled "When Two Become One: A Pastoral Teaching on the Definition, Purpose and Sanctity of Marriage".  I also recommend that to your reading.

Dr. Jeff Mirus of Catholic Culture released yesterday an article entitled "The Dangers of Voting Your Heart: An Intrinsically Moral Guide".  I also recommend that you read it.  A few weeks ago I posted on Voting and the Principle of Double Effect; therein I voiced (and, in my opinion, adequately substantiated) my belief that abstention from this presidential race is morally problematic.

Below is a video from Rosaryfilms that nicely sums up Catholic principles for voting in the United States.  Click here if you cannot see embedded video.

A Message To Black Voters

Bishop E.W. Jackson, president of STAND, was a candidate for US Senate during Virginia's primary (George Allen won that primary).  A few weeks ago he held a press conference at the National Press Club and called for Christians, Jews and all people of good will to forsake the Democrat Party.  Any sane person who watched the Democratic National Convention knows that it has jettisoned any vestige of adherence to the one true God and His laws.  Here it is.  Please spread it far and wide.

As you listen, take note of what he says, starting at 6:55.  He is calling on his fellow blacks to end the "slavishness, dependency, etc that the Democrat party has demanded of the black community.."  Those words can well be echoed at the Catholic hierarchies, to shuck off the influence of the progressives, "nuns on buses", Schneck-types, etc and throw off allegiance to the Democrat party.  Catholic Charities and CRS are way too dependent on Federal dollars to survive; if they can't go "cold-turkey" from federal (and state) funding, they need to be shut down now.  And yes, the Catholic clergy must start obeying Canon 915 and stop punishing those of their number who are obeying it.

Update!  I've just been made aware of a Catholic bishop who is speaking out.  That bishop is Bishop Thomas John Paprocki of the Diocese of Springfield IL.  I link now to a letter that he wrote to his congregation.  He does make the point that while the Democratic platform promotes intrinsic evils, the GOP platform doesn't.  Let us pray that more speak out.

Obama Voters And Hell

Stephen Schneck and others of "katholycs for Obama", please take note!  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Obama Is Endorsed - Kinda

Well, I guess Romney and Ryan might as well pack it in and surrender because after last night, Obama is a shoo-in for the White House!

Yes, I'm being sarcastic (mea culpa!).  What Obama received last night is what any normal person would consider to be a "kiss of death".  Last night the Material Girl gave her ringing (and profanity-laden) endorsement to the Messiah Most Miserable.  See the clip below, but be warned - nothing is "bleeped" out.  The "eloquent prose" starts at 1:47 and continues.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

In her defense, it must be noted that she isn't using a teleprompter.

Vortex On Arlington Diocese Flap

Bishop Loverde of the Diocese of Arlington required diocesan teachers to affirm that they would teach the authentic Faith.  Apparently that outraged some deluded "free-thinkers" and the Washington Post (shill of all things progressive) saw fit to open its silly yap.  The Vortex weighs in on the matter.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Data-Challenged Theories From Catholic University?

Several weeks ago I posted about the problem of Stephen Schneck at Catholic University.  In that post is a video of an interview he gave, spinning some wild yarn claiming that a vote for Obama will reduce abortions.

Jonathan Last of the Weekly Standard attempted to contact Schneck to learn what data supported Schneck's statements.  You can read the account for yourselves.  Long and short - there is no real data.

So what business does Schneck have in running a department at Catholic University?  Looking at the bigger picture of recent events at Catholic University, namely the hiring of John Carr, we can ask what is transpiring at Catholic University in general?  It seems to be devolving into a progressive apologists' haven and forum for promoting socialist ideas.

I know there are still voices of sanity on that campus.  I implore them to wake up and stop this creeping socialist infestation before it gains more ground there.

Obama Doormat - Buy One Quickly Before They Run Out!

As we see on the site "Obama for America", we can buy a monstrosity that looks like a mutated American flag.  Of course you'd have to pay $35 for this piece of crap but you'd better hurry, because it's a "limited edition" of 250 of them (would that the limits were smaller, but I'm digressing again!).  The Obamafile site has a good write-up on this latest stunt of the Messiah Most Miserable.

So is it a flag?  Well, here it is..

Ok.  So let's say that it isn't a flag.  It certainly isn't the American flag.  Notice the five stripes?  Might they be a subtle salute to the "five pillars of Islam"?

Anyway, what use does this thing have?  Well, it does seem to be the right size for a door mat.  Given the groveling and sniveling that Obama has given to the muslim terrorists, this might be quite an appropriate use for this thing - particularly the top left part.  Or I suppose the thing could be narrowed a bit so that it makes a perfect square - might make for interesting toilet tissue print.  Whatever.  It's not worth 35 cents, let alone 35 dollars.  What else can one expect from a narcissistic demagogue  who suggests to his minions that they donate their wedding and birthday gifts to his reelection campaign?  Tact, tastefulness or humility?  Oh, come now!  Not from him!!

Help Obama Change Washington!

At the Univsion forum yesterday, Obama had this to say about the state of affairs in Washington:

Now, we just know in his heart of hearts, that the Messiah Most Miserable really, really wants to change Washington.  But this fond desire of his heart is stymied as long as he remains in Washington.  So - won't you help him "change Washington" by helping him leave Washington so he can change Washington from the outside?  You can help him do this in November by voting for Mitt Romney!

Cardinal Dolan, Where Are You?

That is the title of a piece written by Jim Fritz regarding the colossal error of judgment shown by Cardinal Dolan in allowing the Messiah Most Miserable to attend the Al Smith Dinner next month in New York.  In addition to being a colleague in the Catholic Media Coalition, Jim and I spent many hours sidewalk-counseling in front of the (now-defunct) Hillcrest Women's Surgi-Center on Georgia Avenue, just south of the MD-DC line.  It was one of the first abortuaries in DC, and we were both privileged to be there at its demise.

While I give His Eminence much credit for handing to the Democrats a thinly-veneered and much-needed rebuke vis-a-vis his closing benediction, I believe that Cardinal Dolan contradicts that benediction by allowing Obama a Catholic venue at which to preen and posture just before the election.

When I first read the title to Jim's article, I immediately noticed its similarity to that of one of the early 1960s sitcoms - Car 54, Where Are You?  That show depicted the misadventures of two bumbling New York City cops.  If Jim intended to show a parallel between the New York City cops and the New York City Cardinal, I think we all understand it.

Refreshing Change At The USCCB?

As I mentioned before, John Carr is leaving his post as Director of the Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development at the USCCB.  As I wrote before, Michelle Boorstein thinks we're worried.  I suspect she's the one who's beside herself at this time.  A few days ago it was announced that Carr's replacement will be Jonathan J. Reyes.  He's a former director of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Denver, who made plain his beliefs that evangelism and Christian charity are inseparable.  Moreover, he's a former vice-president of Christendom College, a traditional Catholic college that has yet to accept one penny of government funding.

Much of the Catholic blogosphere is overjoyed by this appointment.  I'm happy, but my optimism is guarded.  Folks, I just don't trust these nameless bureaucrats at the USCCB.  If they manage to hog-tie Reyes, he won't be their first victim.  Moreover, bear in mind that after January, John Carr will be setting up shop at Catholic University.  Those unfamiliar with the layout of Washington DC probably don't realize that the USCCB offices and Catholic University are within easy walking distance of each other.  Carr could still make his influence felt; the impact of a 25-year tenure doesn't just vanish overnight.

So pardon me for sounding cynical, but I'm not prepared to break out the bubbly just yet.  However,I believe the optimism generated by Reyes' appointment will be justified if:

  • Ralph McCloud, current national director of CCHD (and former campaign treasurer for pro-abort Texan Wendy Davis), is fired and replaced with someone with traditional credentials similar to Reyes's
  • Serious, immediate and palpable reforms are made to the CCHD grant-awarding processes - with transparency
  • Reyes dismantles that Catholic Climate Covenant boondoggle
  • Reyes expels Just Faith from the social concerns offices of all levels of Catholic ecclesiastical structures
  • The mishmosh known as Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship is replaced by a clear, unambiguous document that clearly lays out the necessity of voting for pro-life, pro-traditional-marriage candidates and the sinfulness of voting for a "pro-choice" candidate.
This list of needed reforms is by no means exhaustive.  I'll be happy if he can make steady progress on these.  Who knows?  Maybe I can cease calling for the abolition of the USCCB!

Campaigning For The Messiah Most Miserable

Are these two occurrences signs of desperation among the Messiah's Minions Most Mindless?

Many have heard by now that Secretary of HHS Kathleen Sebelius was found to be in violation of the Hatch Act by campaigning for Obama.  During a talk she gave in her official capacity, she deviated from the script to throw in pitches for Obama and a local Democratic candidate. This was the opinion of the Office of Special Council.  Of course she said that she had to "seek clarification" from lawyers - as if that shouldn't have been as plain as day to someone who's been in public office for many years now.

Well, there's now a "copycat" stunt in the news.  At Brevard Community College in Cocoa Florida, a professor, Sharon Sweet, has been put on administrative leave after requiring her students to sign a pledge promising support of Obama and the Democratic ticket.  In addition to the obviously unethical aspects of her deeds, she may be found to be in violation of Florida statute that is similar to the Hatch Act.

So they have to break laws and twist arms to get votes?  Is this desperation, the tactics of despots - or both?

Fr Marcel Guarnizo And Lila Rose At Germantown

They both gave talks at a prayer rally outside of Leroy Carhart's late-term murder-house in Germantown yesterday.  First Father spoke, then Lila.  I post clips of the talks in that order.

Obama's Counterfeit Catholics

Here it is - it's long but well worth it.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Obama's Catholic Army - Are Some Bishops His Generals?

As you watch this, think of the post immediately below this (about that gab-fest at CUA) for that post is the perfect "case-in-point" for what Voris is saying.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.  The "Obama's Counterfeit Catholics" is in the post above this.

Abortion Is A "Pelvic Issue"!

That precious pearl of wisdom has been bestowed upon us, courtesy of the Catholic University of America.  What has gotten into the water cooler inside of the CUA faculty lounge?

On September 12, at Catholic University of America, there was a forum entitled "International Religious Freedom: An Imperative for Peace and the Common Good".  If that sounds like a progressive gab-fest, that's because it was.  It was jointly sponsored by the USCCB, Catholic Relief Services, CUA and the university's Institute for Policy Research and Catholic Studies.  That tells us a lot right there.  We've learned quite a bit about CRS.  We've also learned recently that the IPRCS is directed by Stephen Schneck, who just happens to be co-chair of Catholics for Obama.

A CUA faculty member named Maryann Cusimano Love spoke on - you guessed it! - women.  Why?  Well, according to her, "women are more religious than men" and "attacks on religious freedom affect women more than men".  I dunno - but those sound like rather sexist statements to me (by-the-by, I am a woman)!  But don't expect her to be called on that blatant sexism by lame-brain-main-stream media, because she's portraying us as victims and that means she's a victim too!  Got that??  There I go, digressing again.

Love went on to complain against those who "block" CRS and Caritas (funny how she omitted mention of CARE - but I'm sure it was quite inadvertent!  Of course - so stop that snickering!).  She does go so far as to acknowledge that some differ with the Church on various issues.  Guess what those issues are, according to Love?  Why, they're PELVIC ISSUES!

I can only conclude that the brutal murder of babies, the dismembering of tiny unborn children are what Love calls "pelvic issues".  I've been on the pro-life front-lines for some time now, and I must say this is a "first".  Pelvic issues!!!  What euphemisms will these pro-death progressives concoct next?

She then goes on to say that the Church should "make the unexpected choice to reach out to people who are not like us" in "areas where we have common ground".  Sorry, dear!  There simply is no "common ground" with murder.  And yes, we do "reach out" when we practice the Spiritual Works of Mercy, such as rebuking the sinner and instructing the ignorant.  It is God and His laws that dictate the proper motives and methods of "reaching out", not an institute directed by someone so fuzzy-headed that he advocates voting for the most pro-baby-murder president ever to occupy the Oval Office.

Two weekends ago I practiced those two Spiritual Works of Mercy when I put my letter in the collection basket in lieu of a donation to CUA.  I hope others did the same.

September 30 Rally In DC

From ActsFive29:

Caveat emptor - A few weeks ago I posted a bit on the Principle of Double Effect with specific reference to this upcoming presidential election.  During a previous activism campaign I voiced my belief that the strategy of deliberately engineering arrests fails the principle of double effect in several aspects.  As I read the ActsFive29 site, I am concerned that this phase of the program veers dangerously close to violation of that moral principle.  At this time I cannot lend my endorsement to that particular aspect of the program.  I do however encourage support and attendance at the rallies and prayers.

Maryland NARAL Rebuked At 2012 Gala By Our Picket

On Friday we announced two events for pro-life prayer and activism.  The first event, NARAL's "Evening of Chocolate" fundraising blood-feast, occurred yesterday.  At least fourteen pro-lifers were there to greet them at the entrance to Sandy Spring Volunteer Firehouse, where NARAL had rented out the Oak Room for their fundraising orgy.  Our picket line actually stretched down from that driveway to the Brooke Road / Route 108 intersection.  There is a stoplight at that fairly well-traveled intersection so all those passing by got an education as to what was occurring at that time in their neighborhood.  Quite a few of those driving by gave us "thumbs-up".  Some of those going into the blood-feast raised other fingers at us - what can be expected of those minds and sensibilities dulled by the support of baby-murder?

Below the jump-break I'll give more detail, with photos and a video, so...

Catholic Bishops For Obama

John Sweeney - pals with
Cardinal McCarrick
I post below the jump-break two Vortex videos dealing with the dubious politics and squalid alliances of too many bishops (there are laudable exceptions but they are too few and far between).  As he talks, one cannot help but think of the horrible example set by Cardinal McCarrick.  Several times I've had occasion to picket events at where he was publicly rubbing elbows and chumming it up with notable pro-aborts: labor-boss John Sweeney, Ted Kennedy and of course Sister Carol Keehan.

With the second video I could not help but recall the disgraceful treatment that the Archdiocese of Washington (led by Cardinal Wuerl) meted out to Father Guarnizo when the latter obeyed Canon 915 in February 2012 at my church (see my Feb/March postings).  Is it any wonder that western civilization is heading towards hell in a handbasket?

To watch the videos

Two Big Events - 9/15 And 9/17

I list them as they will chronologically occur.  They're both important.  Please attend both if at all possible.

Sept 15 - PICKET OF MD-NARAL GALA  Their annual "Evening of Chocolate" Gala/Bloodfeast will occur at 17921 Brooke Road in Sandy Spring MD (see their webpage for details).  It's in the Oak Room, attached to the Sandy Spring Fire Station, just a short block north of the Brooke Road / Route 108 intersection.  The NARAL bloodfeast is slated to begin at 8:00pm.  We will be there at 7:00pm to greet the attendees with the truth of the murder that they are advocating.

Sept 17 - JOIN LILA ROSE AND FR MARCEL GUARNIZO AT GERMANTOWN ABORTUARY   Mondays are when Leroy Carhart starts his process of murdering late-term babies.  Ms. Rose and Fr Guarnizo will be joining others to offer real assistance to mothers in desperate situations to encourage them to bring their babies to term.  Afterwards, they will speak at a 10am rally.  Lila Rose is president of Live Action and has led "stings" of abortuaries across the country, exposing their cover-ups of statutory rapes of underage girls.  Anyone who has read this blog during this past February through April knows who Father Guarnizo is and that he is a staunch preacher of God's truth.  For general information regarding the ongoing efforts at Germantown, go to prayforgermantown.com.

You - yes, YOU - are called to witness for our God and for life.

Romney Responds To Attacks - What Do The Reporters Do?

This morning GOP candidate Mitt Romney held a press conference during which he voiced some well-said criticism of the Obama administration's handling of the situation - including the Cairo apology.  The full clip can be seen at Fox News.

Before Romney appeared, the reporters in attendance were, uh, chatting amongst themselves as it were.  In reality, they were coordinating questions that they would ask Romney later on.  However, some mikes were live and their contrivances were recorded for us all to hear, thanks to Newsbusters and RightScoop.  Such naughty little boys and girls!  Would they have been similarly conspiring against the Messiah Most Miserable if he were the one speaking?  I think we all know the answer to that; they'd be lobbing him softball questions, for they worship him as Dear Leader.  They might as well drop all pretenses of objective journalism.  Even if they don't, such pretenses are being stripped from them.  It's interesting to listen to this one first, and then to Romney's address (that's how the events occurred anyway.

Georgetown U Priest Relieved Of His Faculties

I had written in the past about Father Joseph Palacios of Georgetown University, a self-described "gay priest" who co-founded "Catholics for Equality".  Comes now the happy news (thanks to Cardinal Newman Society) that Palacios has been relieved of his priestly faculties by his bishop, Jose Gomez of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

Of course what would be more joyous would be the news of Palacios' repentance of his gay advocacy and dissidence in general.  In the meantime, we thank and salute Archbishop Gomez.

US Embassies Attacked And US - Apologizes??

Talk about kissing the hand that slaps you, but that is just what happened.  Our consulate in Benghazi was attacked and four US officials were murdered.  So what does the US Embassy in Cairo have to say?  Quote:  "The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others."

My understanding is that the jihadists were having quite the temper tantrum over some film that allegedly insulted Mohammed.  It's much like what we Catholics did when "The Last Temptation of Christ" was playing or when the "Piss Christ" garbage was publicly exhibited.  Yes, that last statement is factually untrue, but I put that in there to make plain the differences between the True Faith that civilizes versus bogus junk that turns its adherents into violent snarling barbarians.   It's quite likely that the film was merely an alibi, as they wanted to attack US territory on this anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Fat lot of good that apology did for the Cairo embassy.  It too was ransacked and overrun.  I submit that their grovelling and sniveling statement only encouraged the bullies.  Weakness tends to have that effect on bullies, as most kids learn in the school playground.

Speaking of kids, it's time to expel the brats from the White House this November.  If there's anything that the events of the past two days should have made crystal clear, it's that we need competent adults in the White House.

USCCB - Closet Obama Supporters?

The only word that might be inaccurate in the title is the word "closet".  In fact, many of the bureaucrats are up front and center in their adulation of the Messiah of Baby Murder.  There are a few decent souls in those dank and dreary halls; I urge them to come out while they still have their sanity.

Click here if you can't see embedded video.  After watching this, vow to pray the Rosary every day for the conversion of this nation and yes, the bishops who need it

Conduct Unbecoming The Vice President Of The United States

Can you just imagine the hoo-ha that would be resounding from the Washington Post, New York Times and other mainstream-lamebrain media outlets if this were a picture of Paul Ryan snuggling up to a woman other than his wife?

The above scene occurred yesterday during a campaign stop in Ohio.  Ladies and gentlemen, if outrage would have ensued if this were a picture of Ryan (and rightly so), how much more should have arisen from such conduct from the current Vice President of the United States?  Bill Clinton, serial womanizer that he was (still is?), at least took some measures to hide his disgraceful conduct.  He showed some shred of shame.  Biden is too much of a fool to have even that much discretion.  Is this the sort of individual who should be "one heartbeat from the presidency"?  Oh - I almost forgot!  Biden is ostensibly a Catholic - one who is old enough to recall the concept of mortal sin.  I suppose I can be forgiven for forgetting that he's Catholic, as apparently he forgot so long ago.

Notice the looks of the two men on either side of Biden.  They're disgusted, and I'd be willing to bet that they'll remember Biden's lecherous behavior on November 6th.  I hope we all do.

Stephen Schneck - Key Reason To Boycott Tomorrow's CUA Collection

Stephen Schneck is director of the Institute for Policy Research and Catholics Studies at Catholic University of America.  He's also co-chair for Catholics for Obama.  Listen to this PBS interview in which he talks about the "complex Catholic vote" as he tries to conjure for dissident "katholycs" some imaginary "wiggle room" to justify a vote for the rabidly pro-abortion and pro-sodomy Barack Hussein Obama.

At about 2:40 he utters nonsense about Obama "championing public policies that address needs of poor, working class, especially as it relates to life issues".  Really?  How so?  If he has in mind the funneling of our tax dollars to Planned Parenthood so that minorities can be duped into murdering their babies, that is not true "championing".  He claims that "appeals to Catholics".  No, it appeals to katholycs; there IS a difference!

Cardinal Dolan's Closing Prayer At DNC Yesterday

If you were watching the convention on some of the major networks last evening, you might have missed Cardinal Dolan's closing prayer.  The networks felt it "necessary" (ahem!) to cut away since there was so much necessary commentary that required immediate attention - you see?

Not to fear!  With youtube and blogs such as this, you need not be deprived of the whole story.  Cardinal Dolan lifted up many worthwhile intentions: including that the unborn be protected.  No doubt that made Cecile Richards a little hot under the collar.  (If she felt hot then, she'll really feel the heat if she dies unrepentant - but I digress).

CRS Promotes Condom Usage

LifeSiteNews has just released proof that the Catholic Relief Services has been promoting condom usage for the past several years.  I'm not going to rehash the excellent work done by LifeSiteNews; instead I commend that piece to your reading.

I will point out the lame performance and excuses offered by the CRS leadership.  When questioned last week by LifeSiteNews about the continuing promotion of condom usage, CRS replied "we continue to review all our publications.."  I find it odd that even with all this "review" the number of references to condoms could have escaped their notice during the past several years.  Within a day or so I hope to have copies of all documents uploaded to this blog's sister website so that you can peruse them at leisure.  The LifeSiteNews article links to quite a few of them, although at least one key document has been pulled from the CRS website right after LifeSiteNews started questioning them.  Stay tuned.

Abortion Is "Above My Pay Grade", Says Sister Simone Campbell

Yesterday, Sister Simone Campbell of "nuns on the bus" infamy addressed the Democratic National Convention.  Being the faithful religious that she is, she immediately upbraided them for their support of baby-murder and their recent attempt to remove God from their party platform.  Ladies and gentlemen, mea culpa - that last sentence was a joke (would that it were true)!  But she did speak and in doing so, made a mockery of her religious profession.  The video of her talk can be found here.

She immediately took aim at the budget that Paul Ryan proposed, saying that the USCCB "failed a basic moral test".  Sister, the USCCB does not bear any inherent authority to pronounce didly-squat.  Moreover, Cardinal Dolan is not nearly as eager to condemn the Ryan budget as is Sister.  He seems to acknowledge that there is room for disagreement on prudential matters and respected Ryan's desire to assist all by reining in our runaway deficit.  She then says at 1:31 "we agree with our bishops".  At 5:00 she remarks that opposing the Ryan budget is "part of my pro-life stance".  At 6:19 she reiterates her opinion that the Ryan budget is "immoral".

So she's dead-certain that the Ryan budget is "immoral".  But her conviction and certainty about the right to life of innocent babies.  But earlier yesterday in an interview when John McCormack asked her "should it be illegal to perform abortions", she took a cue right from the Messiah Most Miserable himself.  Her answer?  "That's beyond my pay grade.  I don't know."

To sum up Sister Simone's positions:
  • Ryan budget - "immoral" "horrifying"
  • Baby murder - "I don't know"
Guess what?  With regards to legality of abortion, she cannot boast "agreement with our bishops".

Dems Walk Back Their Atheism - For Now

The dems must have stuck their fingers in the air and noticed that the breeze wasn't blowing their way.  Some of the more astute among them realized that there are still enough of those unwashed bumpkin-rubes who cling to guns and religion who might sway the election their way.  However, not all the dems are that sly; some are still blinded by their arrogance that they resisted the reinstatement of God's name in their platform as you'll see in the clip below.

However, don't be fooled.  They all share the same contempt for God, but a few are sly enough to realize that they may have tipped their hands just a tad too soon - hence the "damage control" that you see below.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

DNC: "We Belong To The Government"

Either their PR people are suffering from "Biden-Foot-In-Mouth" Freudian Syndrome or they've become so arrogant that they're just letting their hair down.  In any event, this little clip of theirs says it quite blatantly.  At least they're being honest (small consolation).  It actually does make sense in a diabolical fashion.  They've just finished expunging God from their platform.  But "nature abhors a vacuum" as we all know, so of course they'll substitute the Utopian State, with the Messiah Most Miserable, in the place of the one true God.

Now the question is, "will we wise up and cast our votes for Romney and the GOP ticket"?   Let's put it this way - if we don't we just might well belong to the government and it will be Biden and company who will "put us in chains".

Democrats Remove Mention Of God From Their Platform

Somehow I'm not surprised.  All they did was formalize what they've been doing for quite some time.  Obama's misquote of the Declaration of Independence is quite deliberate.  I suppose it can be said that at least they're being consistent.  They've written into their platform their adulation of baby-murderers and sexual perversions: practices condemned by God.

So now they've written God from their creed.  Will they be so very surprised if they die unrepentant and find that He has removed their names from His Book of Life?

Someone Should Resign - And It's NOT Todd Akin!

Last week Todd Akin, Republican Senatorial candidate of Missouri, prompted much huffing and puffing after his comments about "legitimate rape".  I agree - the comments were medically inaccurate and just generally ill-advised, but they didn't justify all the self-righteous snit-fits hurled his way.  There were calls for him to resign and to their shame, GOP leadership - including Mitt Romney - joined the feeding frenzy.

Well, there may have been other reasons for the RINOs wanting Akin out of the way.  It appears that Akin is too much of a real Republican for their blue blood.  Akin voted against much of GOP-originated spending extravaganzas: the "No Child Left Behind" act, Medicare expansion, Bush's Wall Street bailout.  And it appears that they had just a little help from George Soros (surprise!).

To his immense credit, Akin refuses to cease his campaign for the seat of Claire McCaskill.  Immediately after his comments, he fell behind McCaskill by 10 points, but has now recovered to a slight lead over her.  I can see how that wouldn't sit well with Democrats, but another doesn't seem too happy about Akin's comeback.

Right after his comments, Akin did receive many anonymous death threats.  Most normal people would say that threatening the life of another is much more morally repugnant than making stupid and erroneous statements.  But some in the higher echelons of GOP leadership don't hold that view, apparently.

At a GOP fundraiser a few days ago, Karl Rove apparently thought this charming statement would open the pockets of billionaire donors: "We should sink Todd Akin. If he's found mysteriously murdered, don't look for my whereabouts!"  He didn't realize there was a pesky reporter in the room.  The IBT article calls that a joke.  Well, as a "joke" it's much more offensive than anything Akin uttered, for Akin voiced no malice while Rove obviously did.  If anyone deserves calls for resignation, it's Karl Rove, not Todd Akin.  Mike Huckabee, Phyllis Schlafly and Newt Gingrich sternly rebuked Rove.  In his  interview, Gingrich not only condemns Rove's remarks; he scolds his interviewers for their obvious biases.

Second Collection For Sept 8-9 - Catholic University Of America

The record of Catholic University of America has certainly been a mixed bag, as noted throughout the years. They have endured frivolous law suits, for instance, for daring to re-institute single-sex dorms and for having crucifixes and other Catholic symbols in its classrooms.  On the other hand, we're starting to see increasing amounts of flotsam and jetsam within the ranks of CUA faculty.  That will only increase in January 2013 with the arrival of John Carr.

So now that raises the question of whether or not it is wise to contribute to the second collection this upcoming weekend for the Catholic University of America.  It is a nationwide collection, I understand, so this is a relevant question for millions of Catholics who attend Mass.  I made plain last week my plans for the collection.  Someone commented in my earlier post, stating that it might be difficult to remove a tenured professor.  Well, assuming that's true for argument's sake, tenure is completely irrelevant in the John Carr case.  There goes that excuse!

Ladies and gentlemen, whatever you do with the next second collection, please put much thought and prayer into your decision.

John Carr Retiring From USCCB, Will Eventually Be At CUA

After more than 20 years at the helm of the USCCB's Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development, John Carr is retiring from that position.  I have written extensively on Carr and the mischief wrought (please read that link and all the posts included therein for a full picture of Carr).  Probably the most scandalous of harm done by Carr and the USCCB minions that he supervised (most notably the Catholic Campaign for Human Development) is the funneling of millions of Catholic donations to Alinskyan organizations over the past few decades, including the now-disgraced ACORN.

Obama - Then And Now

First - then!  From an interview with Matt Lauer in 2009 we see (click here if you can't see embedded video).

And now we're hearing language that we heard just last December - that he "always knew it would take more than one term," as evidenced in the video below.  But that's not what he said then!  Hmmm...
