Mayor Bloomberg's War On Mothers - New Front

Mayor Bloomberg of New York is taking Nanny State to the next level.  He is trying to foist breast-feeding (as opposed to bottle-feeding) on NYC mothers via his "Latch On NYC Initiative".  It's "voluntary" for hospitals now, but probably won't be so "voluntary" in the future.  So far 27 of the city's 40 hospitals have glommed onto the nonsense.

Now moms won't be denied formula, but they'll have to ask for it - and it won't be given to them without having the reason for the dispensing medically documented (I hope the infants' hunger is a medically valid reason for these Formula Police).  What will also be dispensed to the recalcitrant mother - with every bottle - is a lecture from a hospital staff person on the evils of bottles and the goodness of breasts!  Boys and girls, can we all say "brow-beating"?

Of course they're doing this "for the children", you see?  Never mind that this crap is coming from a typical pro-abortion politician who is totally in favor of a baby being brutally murdered before birth.  But should that child be so fortunate as to make it out of his/her mother's womb in one piece, then Bloomberg will take that hapless child into his clutches.

Not only does Nanny Bloomy tell Mom and Dad that they can't eat trans-fats or drink Big Gulps, he tells the poor little tyke how he/she must eat!  Is it really the role of a city mayor to tell moms how to feed their children?  When it comes to murdering the children, it's "between a woman and her doctor".  But with anything else, the Nanny State interjects its big bazzoo!  Did you ever think you'd see the day when Similac and Emfamil would be treated like morphine?

NYC residents, don't you think it's time to retire Bloomberg?  Why, oh why, do you put up with this nonsense?  For us Maryland folks, we'd better keep our eyes on our own legislative fools - that goes double for the ones who prowl the Montgomery County offices in Rockville.

An Abortionist - At Least He's Honest!

Yep!  You've got to hand at least that to Ron Virmani of North Carolina!  Listen to his tirade about "ugly black babies"!  And the pro-aborts claim that pro-lifers are the racists?  Don't they have things backwards, as they gladly facilitate the racial genocide of minorities.  Click here, not only if you can't see the embedded video, but also to read comments from others who are local to North Carolina.  Apparently Virmani has no hospital privileges.  Well, why not???  What does that tell you???  Also notice that Virmani refers to "babies", not "fetuses" or other euphemism.  He admits that he is murdering babies.

Gay Activists Post Names Of MD Marriage Petition Signers

A few days ago, the Washington Blade, a news publication by and for those engaging in homosexual sins, published an article entitled "Who Signed the MD Anti-Gay Marriage Petition?"  It does little more than link to a scribd list of approximately 110,000 of the signers of the petition.  I'm guessing that whoever posted this got an early list and perhaps the later signers were left off.

It's a cheap shot, no matter how you put it.  If someone saw fit to waste their time with this, more's the pity.  However, some low-life might see fit to try to intimidate you because you had the audacity to exercise your rights as a Maryland citizen.  Should that happen, please contact the Maryland Marriage Alliance and advise them.

I hope to seem some of you this coming Wednesday at Chick-Fil-A!

Raymond Arroyo!! Et Tu, Brute?

First, thanks to my commenter on the "4000babies.com" post for alerting me to this idiocy committed by EWTN last month.  Raymond Arroyo, who hosts "The World Over" on the EWTN network, interviewed Mark Shriver regarding his book about his father, Sargent Shriver.  See this link and scroll to number 5.

Regular readers of this blog will recall that when Shriver did a book signing at Blessed Sacrament several months ago, we were there to protest that profanation of a Catholic Church.  Mark Shriver, like most of his Kennedy kindred, is rabidly pro-abortion.  He used his office in the Maryland state legislature to support baby-killing and ran for US Congress on a pro-abortion platform.  It doesn't take much genius to realize that Blessed Sacrament lent legitimacy to the character, and thus the pro-abortion views of Shriver when it let him into their facilities.  Unfortunately EWTN, by Arroyo's actions, did the same for Shriver.

A supreme irony in the EWTN program is that the whole thing is billed as a "Fortnight for Freedom" special. As you know, that Fortnight effort was launched in an effort to protect religious freedoms from the onslaught of Obama-Hell-Care, a bill championed by the late Ted Kennedy - Shriver's pro-abortion uncle.

Mother Angelica, foundress of the Eternal Word Television Network, has been in very poor health these past few years.  I do not for one moment believe that if she were still at the helm of EWTN, this travesty would have seen the light of day.  I hope that there is some adult in charge there who will ensure that such stupidity never again besmirches the outreach for which Mother Angelica labored.

More Of CRS's (And USCCB's) True Colors

As you watch this Vortex (and click here if you can't see embedded video below), listen to the questions that Voris asks of the USCCB.  The main one is "why does this bureaucracy see fit to give money to organizations at odds with the Church?  Why cannot the Church perform the Works of Mercy by itself and on its own terms?"   In a saner time, that is what the Church used to do.

Here is the link to the CRS communication to which Voris alluded: http://www.churchmilitant.tv/documents/vort-2012-07-25-a.pdf

Support Chick-Fil-A !

The so-called "tolerant" crowd is dropping all pretenses and letting their true nazi-esque colors show.  The CEO of Chick-Fil-A, Dan Cathy, made plain that he supports the Biblical norms for marriage.  So now the witch-hunt begins.

Both the mayor of Boston and a Chicago alderman (with Rahm Emmanuel's support) are making moves to ban Chick-Fil-A from their respective localities.  Excuse me, but I thought we were living in the United States of America.  Since when do Menino, Moreno and Emmanuel have any business using their respective offices to attempt legal retribution on any entity that doesn't share their private views?  There is no mention made of either Cathy or Chick-Fil-A engaging in any violation of law.  How dare these city officials use their offices to pursue personal vendettas against those who don't share their religious views?  Or maybe they're just following the lead of the Messiah Most Miserable.

Meanwhile Rosanne Barr, unable apparently to control her urge to tweet nonsense, made plain her opinion that those who eat at Chick-Fil-A deserve to get cancer.  What a gal!  Such profound statements!

Speaking of eating at Chick-Fil-A, former presidential candidate (and former Arkansas governor) suggested a "Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day" for Wednesday, August 1st.  No big deal - just show up at your local Chick-Fil-A and patronize their business.  Support them!  And no, Rosanne Barr's bizarre wishes won't come to pass!

CRS Misquotes John Haas To Deflect Much-Deserved Criticism

On July 18th I first posted about the CRS scandal about its $5.3 million grant to an abortophile organization called CARE.  John Rivera, CRS's Director of Communications, posted a comment.  Someone else showed me a reply that they had received from another CRS representative.  It was Rivera's comment, word for word.  Talk about a "party line"!

Well, it turns out the "party line" is a bit inaccurate.  LifeSiteNews contacted John Haas and interviewed him.  He stated that CRS officials didn't quote him properly and totally misconstrued his stance regarding CARE (surprise!).

This year's second collection for CRS already occurred, but it appears that next May we might be issuing a boycott call for that as well.

Gay Mafia In Catholic Hierarchy And Clergy

As you listen to this Vortex, pay close attention between the 5 and 7 minute markers.  Listen to his questions and think of your own local situations.  For those of us in the Archdiocese of Washington, could the treatment meted out to Father Marcel Guarnizo last March be symptomatic of this malaise?  Last Sunday's homily at St John Neumann was a breath of fresh air - but when will the next such breath of clear doctrine occur?  Of course we can think of what happened in Texas to Father Michael Rodriguez last year, or Bishop Joseph Martino in Scranton; they dared to speak out and the hammer came down on them.   Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Chicago Planned Parenthood Botches 2nd Trimester Abortion, Woman Dies

On Friday July 20, at a Planned Parenthood facility in Chicago, Tonya Reaves (aged 24) had an abortion. She was fatally injured during the procedure, passing away at Northwestern Memorial Hospital that evening. According to a press release issued by Planned Parenthood of Illinois, an autopsy ruled her death to be an accident!

Okie-dokie!  Alrighty then!  That clears that right up now, doesn't it?  I guess we can all just forget about it, go about our little routines and leave poor little Planned Parenthood to its murderous business!  Nothing to see here, folks - just keep moving!

Not buying that, eh?  Well, neither is her family.  This CBS report goes into some more detail about the autopsy than did the Planned Parenthood damage-control piece.  Probably they'd like to know just how this "accident" occurred.  Usually when one thinks of the word "accident", one can conclude that there was a mishap that arose out of carelessness.  Let's be honest; if there were some unknown medical condition of Ms Reaves of which Planned Parenthood could not have been aware, they would have been up front and out loud about it, HIPPA laws notwithstanding.

Accident!  What a lame cop-out!  What else would it be - murder?  Well there is the baby who was murdered, but that is its own tragedy.  I offer prayers for the Reaves family during their tragedy and pray also that they persevere until they get some real answers - and justice - for Tonya's (and baby's) death.

The Plague Of Gay Clergy

I will preface this Vortex episode with some of my own observations.  Several years ago, when the clergy sex abuse crisis was becoming prominent in the news media, the Archdiocese of Washington decided to launch "dialog" sessions with area Catholics by sending a panel of "experts" to various churches.  The first such session occurred at St Raphael's in Rockville.  Naturally they came with talking points.  Among them..
  • The clergy sex abuse was no different than pedophilia found in other circles of society; that is homosexuality wasn't a major factor.
  • There would be financial repercussions to Catholics as lawsuits would be paid from insurance policies.
They made what they now consider to be a mistake; they opened the floor for our questions.  We made plain that we weren't buying the yarn.  In regard to the first point, we reiterated that we were examining the sex abuse that was occurring among Roman Catholic clergy, not general pedophilia.  We weren't going to compare apples versus oranges.  We pointed out that over 90% of the victims of perverted clergy were boys, so indeed the problem lay at the feet of homosexuals within the clergy.

In regard to the second point, we let them know that the insurance premiums were being paid from our collection-plate dollars, and that those premiums would be skyrocketing as a result of the mess.  In hindsight, I think we can see from where Obama got his crackpot idea of his mandate "accommodation" for religious organizations.  Before it was Obama's crackpot idea, it was the bishops' crackpot idea!

That first meeting at St. Raphael's was also the last meeting. We now see that the archdiocese was only attempting "damage control" and that we weren't buying it.  From the perspective of the archdiocese, the meeting was a miserable flop - but an eye-opener for the rest of us.

A Homily Against Contraception Today!

Today at the 11:15 Mass at St John Neumann Church in Gaithersburg, Fr LaHood preached against the evils of contraception and for the teaching of Humanae Vitae.  This homily was occasioned by the upcoming 44th anniversary of the issuance of the encyclical by Pope Paul VI (July 25th, Wednesday).  Read that encyclical and then listen to the homily now.

As you read Humanae Vitae, you might think it was written just last year instead of 44 years ago, as most of the horrible consequences of contraception's embrace have been realized all too vividly.  There is no doubt that the embrace of the anti-life mentality inherent in contraception's use has unleashed many plagues on humanity.  Some who are reading this are no doubt snickering at the thought.  In fact, I saw a few fellow Mass attendees roll their eyes as Father was preaching.  There are none so blind as they who will not see, and such are dissenters from the clear teaching of the Church.

Of course as we consider these thoughts, that makes all the more evident why the $5.3 million grant given to CARE by the Catholic Relief Services is beyond reprehensible.  At any rate, I hope that this homily is the start of a much-needed trend in our Churches today.

CRS Scandal, Continued

This past Wednesday, I posted a report that the USCCB, through the Catholic Relief Services, doled out $5.3 million to a death-dealing organization called CARE.  The Vortex now weighs in on the mess.  At the 6:30 mark, Voris seems to agree with my recommendation that the USCCB be abolished.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Questionable Coverage Regarding Andrew Moore's Tragic Death

Many pro-life readers who subscribe to other pro-life news services will have heard of the tragic death of Andrew Moore, a young man who was walking with the Crossroads team in Indiana.  He and another participant were walking along U.S. 40 on Friday July 20th at 5am when he was struck by a vehicle and died at the scene.  Here is the press release from Crosswalk.

There are many calls for prayers for the repose of Mr. Moore's soul and the consolation of his family.  I echo those calls and join those prayers.  However, there are some aspects to this coverage - from pro-life corners - that are a cause for concern.  It is alleged that he died a hero and even a martyr.  Obviously he was dedicating many weeks for a noble endeavor (as were his Crossroads team-mates).  However, I think it a bit of a stretch to use the words "hero" and "martyr" in conjunction with his death.  I mean not to impugn his integrity, but to take exception on the part of some pro-life organizations to lionize this young man.

Let's look at the details of the accident.  We don't know much.  All indications (so far) state that the vehicle driver did nothing amiss.  Those details are still under official investigation.  Now why use the word "hero"?  Usually one uses the word "hero" for someone who undertakes a specific action, knowing full well the risks to their own life, to achieve a commensurate goal.  But this was an accident; the death was inadvertent.

Even more inappropriate is the use of the word "martyr".  The Holy Father himself, recognizing that excessive usage of the word "martyr" could strip it of its specific significance, requested that the word "martyr" be applied only to one who was murdered out of express hatred for the Faith.  Clearly Andrew Moore was not martyred.

I call upon the various pro-lifers who used such hyperbole to ask why they decided to do so - and to cease so doing.  It doesn't serve truth.  Thus it cannot serve the pro-life cause and does injustice to this young man's memory.

While the aforementioned misuse of language is troubling, there is yet another aspect to the pro-life coverage of this incident that is profoundly disturbing.  While calls for prayer for Mr. Moore's repose and consolation of his family and friends abound, I have seen not one suggestion that prayers be offered for the driver of the vehicle that struck Mr. Moore.  Why not??  Can anyone doubt that he must be undergoing massive angst for this accident (who may not be at fault, by the way)?  He too is a human being who is just as deserving of our solicitude as are all the other people impacted by the accident.

I therefore will be the first (to my knowledge) to ask that all pray for God's peace and wisdom upon Terry King (aged 25), the driver of the vehicle.   Andrew Moore, requiescat in pace.

Obama Tells Fans To Mute "Ads With Scary Voices"

So why are the ads "scary"?  Well these are ads by Obama opponents, and viewpoints that oppose the Messianic Mumblings are, well, "SCARY!!!"   EEEEKKK!

Thus he instructs the sheeple to hit the "mute" button, lest they hear another viewpoint and (gasp!) reconsider their support of Obama!  Well, I can suppose that Obama himself would be petrified of that concept!  How many folks are really that docile and slavishly unthinking?  Probably too many!  Does that number include - you??

Catholic Relief Services - Funding Contraception

That's the upshot of what LifeSiteNews has reported.  In 2010, the Catholic Relief Services gave $5.3 million to CARE, an organization that is unabashed about its goal of doling contraceptives and abortifacients to women in developing countries.  CARE is also a lobbyist for abortions.  Dr. William Marshner of Christendom College is correct in saying that there is absolutely no justification whatsoever for such funding.  CRS has made plain that they intend to keep on funding CARE.

There is no doubt that the USCCB, through CRS, is undermining the bishops' current battle against the HHS contraception mandate.  How can they claim to oppose contraception on one hand, and yet on the other hand fund an organization that will take that money and use it to dispense contraception?

If I've said this once, I've said it a million times.  USCCB needs to be abolished in its entirety.

Investigation Of Germantown Abortuary Dumping - With Video

Operation Rescue posted a video of its investigation of the illegal dumping done by the Germantown Reproductive Health Services.  Click here if you cannot see embedded video.

As you watch, pause at the 1:04 mark and notice the name of the prescribing physician.  His name is Delhi Thweatt; he is himself an abortionist.  In addition to the hundreds (if not thousands) of babies murdered by his hand, he has on his record at least one dead mother.  Read this blog piece for the sordid story, which includes the official lawsuit information.  A question asked at the end of that blog piece is "why is Hillcrest still using Dr. Thweatt after the horrible death of Kelly Morse under his care?"  That is a question that should be asked of Germantown Reproductive Health Services.

EmpowerDC - Recipient of DC's CCHD Funds

EmpowerDC has been a regular recipient of CCHD funding from the Archdiocese of Washington.  They are an organization that claims to be for grassroots organizing for the plight of poor people.  As with many recipients of CCHD funding (and thus of Catholic donations) questionable connections abound.  Although they do have a website, I find that their Facebook page lists their mission statement, address and key players in one succinct place.  As you look down their list of campaigns on the right side, their goals all have to do with getting the DC government to spend more and more money - money that the DC government just doesn't have.  Now recall what I posted earlier about the Cloward-Piven Strategy.  You see it in play here - this is a key feature of Alinskyan organizing, whether or not the EmpowerDC folks are conscious of it.

Daniel Del Pielago, their "quality education organizer", has given workshops sponsored by DC Jobs for Justice and Washington Peace Center.  As you look to the left of the WPC webpage, you'll see some planned events - including Bank of America's Week to Pay.   We all know from the riot that "community organizers" (really labor-union types) staged on the front lawn of a Bank of America official in Chevy Chase what "payment" can entail.  I have to admit that I am somewhat intrigued about the idea of a "Sleepful Protest".  Does that means the protest is boring?   A perusal of the coalitions of DC Jobs for Justice lists not only EmpowerDC but other sordid little cabals such as: DC Democratic Socialists of America, DC Trans Coaltion, Feminism Without Borders and sundry big-labor unions.

On Empower's "grassrootsmedia" page, we see a link to DC's Independent Media Center.  Click on that.  On the left side we see "calendars and feeds".  Scroll down to "Machination.org's clippings" to see a most ominous title: Why We Must Ration Healthcare.  It is a New York Times op-ed piece, written in 2009 by Peter Singer, the notorious anti-life Princeton professor.  This is indicative of how EmpowerDC values (or doesn't value) the lives of the ill and elderly, allowing for imperious bureaucrats to determine who receives medical care.  So much for championing the disenfranchised.

EmpowerDC has another connection to another entity - one that I hope not too many of these Alinskyan organizations have.  It's so unique that I was taken aback.  If you look at Empower's Facebook page, you'll see that its street address is 1419 V Street, NW in DC.  That address is identical to that of St Augustine Catholic Church in DC.

My, my!  Doesn't this just raise a bunch of questions?
  • Neither St. Augustine nor EmpowerDC are up front about their shared address on their respective websites.  Why?
  • The DC real estate data base makes clear that the usage code is "religious".  How is that justified with EmpowerDC's presence?
  • Do any St Augustine staff members hold positions with EmpowerDC (and vice versa, too)?
  • Under St Augustine's "social committee" webpage, we see WIN, that is, Washington Interfaith Network, listed.
    • Why is that the only activity listed without its own contact person?
    • What is the nature of the relationship between this parish's WIN and EmpowerDC?
    • For the information of this blog's readers, WIN is an affiliate of the Industrial Areas Foundation, founded by Saul Alinsky himself.
A little "aside" about St Augustine's - they have "liturgical dancers".  That's a liturgical no-no.

I mention all this because next month, the weekend of Aug 11-12, the second collection will be for "Catholic Communication and Human Development".  Yes, they're mish-mashing it again this year with another collection (Catholic Communications).  It seems that they're trying to disguise the name a bit so you won't know that this is a collection to be boycotted.  Please don't give one red cent to this collection.  Give that money to a truly deserving charity.

Illegal Dumping At Carhart's Germantown Abortuary

Last week Operation Rescue unearthed an unlicensed abortionist operating illegally in Forestville, MD.  Today they announced that they discovered illegal dumping by Germantown Reproductive Health Services in Germantown MD.  That's Leroy Carhart's place.  The trash included:

  • Sensitive patient information including driver license photocopies and other private information.
  • Bloody sanitary napkins, some of which contained fetal remains.
  • Bottles of IV drugs that are classified as controlled substances.
Operation Rescue has filed complaints with the Maryland Board of Physicians.  However, I have some questions for the other occupants of Germantown Executive Park Terrace.  The trash was no doubt found in common-area dumpsters.  Do you not go there to dispose of your own trash?  What do you think of the stench that must have been caused by the bloody remains of the murdered babies?  Do you have any concerns for the disease that could be bred in such conditions?  How about any concerns for declining property values?

Abortionists are, by definition, murderers of babies.  Anyone who can sink so low as to make his/her living by whole-scale slaughter of helpless children will have no great compunctions about the considerations and welfare of his/her fellow tenants.  By and large, you ignored our earlier pleas to have this baby-killing center evicted from your midst, and you turned deaf ears to us.  The proverbial chickens are coming home to roost.  This disgusting incident will only be the first of many, if you do not rise up and act like decent human beings and expel the murderous activity from your midst.

Kudos To The Boy Scouts!

The Boy Scouts of America are continuing their policy of excluding "gays" from membership and leadership roles.  They have decided to adhere to their principles and buck the politically correct trends of popular culture.  I think the Catholic bishops could learn some lessons in courage from them.

Ruth Duck - Hymnist To Be Avoided

Today at Mass we sang a song by the above author entitled "As A Fire Is Meant For Burning".  We sang a very sanitized version as the original version is heretical.  The line many might remember from Mass is "not to preach our country's customs".  What it replaced is "not to preach our creeds or customs", which is nothing more than the heresy of religious indifferentism.  However, several years ago we did sing the original heresy - well not me!  I did a little of my own substitution and would loudly sing "we will preach our creeds and customs" over the offending phrase.  I did so again today.

So who is this lady?  In short, she's a feminist.  At least she wasn't born Catholic so apostasy is not a factor in her case.  Here's a blurb on her life.  Look at page 3 for the various titles she gives to God.  "Sister Wisdom??"   How about "Spirit Guide"?  I believe that one has relevance in New Age and/or Wiccan circles.   We also have "God the loving gardener" and "Great spirit of the cosmic whole".  How does she dream up this barf?  Missing of course are any traditional titles that smack of masculinity, such as "Father" or "Lord".  The footnotes on page 4 are quite telling.  More so is the section on page 5 under "That did it!"  As we read through that section we see that "new names (for God) awaited discovery".

And I thought "not to preach our creeds and customs" was bad enough!!  This woman appears to be monkeying around with so many "names" for God that she has no clue as to Who He is.

If I'm at a Mass again when this song is sung, I will be singing my lyrics very loudly!

Hey, Melinda! What's The BIG SECRET???

At the Family Planning Summit in London last week that was sponsored by Melinda Gates, Wendy Wright of C-FAM was in attendance.  She was recognized as a pro-life person and security personnel attempted to eject her on that premise.  Only when she produced her press badge did they relent.

So now the question is, "What's with all the hush-hush?  If everything at that summit is on the up-and-up, why the cloak-and-dagger secrecy?"

Mrs. Gates!   Whazzup with that?  What gives?

Yet Another Seedy Baby-Killing Dump In Maryland

I wrote late last year about a number of abortionists who were plying their trades in Maryland, practicing such shoddy medicine that the MD Physician Board had no choice but to take notice.  We know that Maryland attracts these maggots like a carcass draws vultures owing to lax abortion laws and abortophile lawmakers in Annapolis (including the faux-katholic in the governor's mansion).

Operation Rescue has unearthed another illicit late-term operation, this one run by James Scott Pendergraft of Florida.  His license there is in its fourth suspension and he has no license elsewhere - including Maryland.          He is working with one Harold Alexander at 7610 Pennsylvania Avenue in Forestville MD.  More details can be found on the Operation Rescue site, including a video.

Mention is made of regulations of abortion facilities that are scheduled to go into effect July 23rd.  It took the Stephen Brigham debacle to get the State of Maryland to take this important matter seriously.

Revisiting The Vote For Romney

Last month I posted my opinion on why we Christians need to vote for the GOP candidate in November; presumably that is Mitt Romney since he now appears to have the delegates to vote for him at the GOP convention.  I now commend to your reading an article that appeared in American Thinker this past May entitled Obama's Second-Term Transformation Plans.

To those who think that there's no difference between Romney and Obama and that it will suffice just to vote for Congress, I highlight this statement from the article: "Many Republicans and conservatives dissatisfied with the prospect of Mitt Romney as the nominee for president are instead focused on re-taking the House and Senate. That goal, while worthy and necessary, is meaningless unless Barack Obama is defeated. The nation is not dealing with a person of character and integrity but someone of single-minded purpose and overwhelming narcissism. Judging by his actions, words and deeds during his first term, he does not intend to work with Congress either Republican or Democrat in his second term but rather to force his radical agenda on the American people through the power he has usurped or been granted."

I realize there may be much visceral disdain for Romney.  However, please realize that the casting of your vote does not merely signify approval of the candidate for whom you vote; such view of voting is simplistic as it does not consider all ramifications.  For instance, one may vote for one candidate to deny another candidate who is less acceptable.  It is licit to "vote against" as much as it is to "vote for".

To those of you inclined not to vote or to go "third-party", I urge you to soberly consider the arithmetic results of such actions.  Please think and disregard the "gut-instinct".  Cool logic is needed now, not emotional reactions.  Will the country survive four more years of Obama?  I think we all know the answer to that.  If he is reelected and you did not cast your vote for the GOP candidate, you will bear some responsibility for that.

"It's Not Fair!" - He Might Have A Point!

By now most folks have heard the WWLTV interview with Obama in which he said of Catholics and the contraceptive mandate that it wouldn't be fair for women to "bear the burden and cost" of obtaining contraceptives.  The interview is below.

Never mind that it wouldn't be fair to force any employer to finance the sex lives of any of their employees.  Obama did say something else that isn't being picked up by many folks, including conservatives.  He made the point of targeting Catholic hospitals that receive Federal money.  It is here where we must acknowledge that "the broken clock is right twice a day".

To those of my friends who laughed at me when I said that the Bush "faith-based initiative" schtick would come back to bite us, I have just four itsy-bitsy little words to say.

I TOLD YOU SO!!!!

Any acceptance of "federal aid" on the part of Catholic institutions is nothing else than participation in "income redistribution".  In other words, the federal government commits legalized sins against the Seventh Commandment and the Church participates in that sin by partaking of the ill-gotten funds.  Of course the "social justice" crowd thrives on this unabashed moral injustice.

More to the point, when the Church attaches itself to a governmental teat and starts slurping away, it relegates itself to the status of just another greedy, squealing piglet.  How is it then, that we are in any way surprised when the goods come with the strings?  Such outrages seems rather hollow, if not downright hypocritical.

If the Church is serious about its quest to preserve religious freedom, it will immediately divest itself of all governmental largess and be free of governmental doles as well.

House Votes To Repeal Obamacare

Today the House voted to repeal the Obamacare Hell-Bill.  The vote was 244-185.  Here's the official roll-call.

Of course this repeal will not see the light of day in the Democrat-controlled Senate.  But now it's on record how Representatives will vote on this thing - and every Representative is up for re-election come this November.  All the Republicans voted for repeal.  They were joined by five Democrats: Mike Ross, D-Ark.; Dan Boren, D-Okla.; Mike McIntyre, D-N.C.; Larry Kissell, D-N.C.; and Jim Matheson, D-Utah.  From this we can glean some things.

  • The vote for repeal is bi-partisan.  How about that?
  • The vote for Obamacare is partisan.  Surprise!
  • Five intelligent Democrats understand how the people really feel about the Obama Hell Bill.
  • The need for change in the Senate and the White House is hereby underscored.

Obama, Ya Gotta Get Out!

Ryan Bomberger, co-founder of The Radiance Foundation that created the TooManyAborted.com campaign, launched another site called SoOutLoud.com that deals with politically-oriented themes.  It is SoOutLoud.com that has produced this video calling for Obama's defeat in November.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Vortex Series On Council Of Trent

Actually the Vortex series started yesterday.  As that video was merely introductory in nature, I saw little point to posting that.

In this clip, Voris makes a point in delineating the differences between the Council of Trent and Vatican II.  He correctly states that the Council of Trent was a dogmatic council, meaning that the proceeds of that council were to be taken as infallible teachings of the Church, while Vatican II was a pastoral council, not intended to produce dogmatic statements.  I must take some issue with Voris at the 1:43 mark, when he describes the Vatican II documents as being "somewhat squishy" and "causing no end of consternation among the faithful".  I certainly agree that many have misinterpreted (sometimes deliberately) those documents and have made overly-much of the "spirit of Vatican II".  However, I think it a grave error to impugn the Vatican II documents themselves as being inherently faulty.  Vatican II may not have held the same weight as Trent, but it was still a Church council and must be respected as such.

That being said, I look forward to hearing more about the Council of Trent, convened to deal with encroaching protestantism among other things.  Click here if you cannot see embedded video.

Archdiocese Restates Its Cowardice In Father Guarnizo Matter

On February 25th, at a funeral Mass at St John Neumann Church in Gaithersburg, Father Marcel Guarnizo (then assigned to that parish) quietly withheld Holy Communion from the daughter of the deceased.  The daughter was at the time (most likely still is) actively engaged in a homosexual relationship.

From that day onward, through March and beyond, I posted very extensively on this matter.  There's no need to rehash the particulars here; anyone unfamiliar with this matter can go back and examine the posts and related links.

Today the Archdiocese of Washington confirmed that Father Guarnizo will no more serve in the Archdiocese of Washington.  You can read the accounts of MSNBC and the Washington Post.  The loss is that of the Archdiocese of Washington.  The shame is that of the chancery - right up to Cardinal Wuerl himself.

At the bottom of the Post article, you'll read that Fr Guarnizo gave an address a week ago Saturday during a symposium on "Religious Freedom and Democracy" at Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, VA.  I was in attendance and recorded Father's address.  It was an excellent address and I urge you to listen here.

Pro-Life Activism Opportunities In Maryland

There are two activism opportunities arising in July.  I list them in chronological order.

2012 Artscape in Baltimore  Join pro-life activists at this event as they educate Artscape attendees of the reality of abortion.  They will be doing so via pictures of abortion victims, distribution of literature and discussions with attendees.  Activists will be there Friday July 20th and Saturday July 21st, from 4:00pm till 7:30pm at the intersection of Mount Royal Avenue and North Charles Street.  For additional information please contact Kurt Linnemann at klinnemann@cbrinfo.org or 410-913-3931.

12th Annual Face The Truth Tour  Conducted by Defend Life from July 23rd to July 27th.  Please visit Defend Life's website for the latest information, including a schedule of the tour and a downloadable flyer.

USCCB Responds To Soros-Funded Critics

On June 7, the USCCB issued an Advisory Memo to Journalists to respond to silly criticisms lobbed against the Fortnight for Freedom effort.  The USCCB reveals some background of the sources of the criticisms - and the funding behind them.  My!  It does seem that George Soros is under compulsion to stick his fingers into all sorts of Church matters!  He's such a busy little atheist.  After outlining all the squalid background of the criticisms, the USCCB correctly points out,  "these do not seem like eminent qualifications for telling bishops how to guide the Church."   That statement might win an "Understatement of the Year" award.

Anyway, read it for yourselves to see how the progressive yarn is so easily unraveled.

How To "Terrorize" Without Really Trying

We discovered how to do so - quite inadvertently - while we were in front of the Planned Parenthood death center in Silver Spring MD.  At the moment of this "discovery", there were a number of us on the sidewalk - pro-life activists, pro-abortion deathscorts and sundry building visitors.  All was calm, there was no particular agitation of note - at least to me.

Someone who drove by the north side of Spring Street was somewhat flustered, as he yelled out "Terrorists!" from his car window.  Wondering if he beheld something I couldn't see from my vantage point, I crossed the street to see if I could discover the cause of his alarm.  This is what I saw:

At first glance, the scene looks like what I described in the preceding paragraph.  But wait!  What is that picture on top of the car?  Why, yes!  Indeed it is the object of that man's obvious fright!  I zoomed in for a closer look and post it below.  Ladies and gentlemen, if and only if you have the courage, I invite you to view the horrible visage for yourselves - but be warned!  If it caused that man to accuse of being terrorists, why, it must be frightening indeed!

Are you really brave enough to sneak a peak?  OK - but don't say I didn't warn you!  You better have your smelling salts handy because here it is!

EEEEKK!!

Now that we've all sufficiently recovered our senses after what must have been the most terrifying moments in our lives to date, let's consider a few things.  If that man was an Obama fan, that is, a Minion Most Mindless of the Messiah Most Miserable, he will be of like mind with the mental midget who said that he wouldn't want his daughters "punished with a baby".  In other words, they hold the warped view that babies are things to be avoided at best - and even torn to shreds if they dare to exist at times deemed inconvenient.

Of course it's no secret that those who are depraved of conscience (and that includes all who deem themselves "pro-choice") will always find the proclamation of the truth to be a dire threat to their own cocoon of self-deception.  No sane, rational person could look at the picture of that sweet baby and have the word "Terrorists!" bleat from their mouths.  However, no person who calls themselves "pro-choice" can be called "sane" or "rational" for they permit, if not outright support, the wanton murders of innocent babies.

The real terrorism is what happens inside Planned Parenthood and the other execution chambers commonly known as "abortion clinics".  The silly antics of that drive-by shouter and too many others will never obfuscate that truth.

A Celebration Of LCWR And Nuns On The Bus

Judging from some comments on my last post, I can tell some of you think I'm being too, too, mean to these dear little ladies!  To those of you whose knickers got knotted over my obvious disdain for these women making wreckage of their own eternal fates, I hope this presentation helps soothe your ruffled feathers!  Click here if you can't see embedded video!

In all seriousness, these ladies and their misguided fans stand in desperate need of our prayers.

Who Funded "Nuns On The Bus"?

In several posts regarding the "Nuns On The Bus" schlep in the luxury bus, I asked who was funding the whole excursion.  That gas-guzzling luxury bus cost quite a bit of money - more than the normal religious could ever afford.

I had my suspicions as to who/what was the sugar-daddy behind it - suspicions that I'm sure were shared by many.  Father Zuhlsdorf"s blog just confirmed it.  The far-reaching and much-money tentacles of George Soros were behind it.

On This Independence Day...

"And my people, upon whom my name is called, being converted, shall make supplication to me, and seek out my face, and do penance for their most wicked ways: then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and will heal their land."  From 2 Chronicles 7:14, Douay-Rheims Bible

In Montgomery County MD, fireworks have been cancelled this evening due to the excessive heat and remaining power outages.  I think it's just as well.  We are at a crossroads - not only in terms of this country but civilization in general.  We need to set aside the customary hoopla to think, ponder and above all, to pray for our poor country that has strayed so far from the path of righteousness.

Some more comments from the Vortex are in the clip below.  He rightly lays much of the blame for the demise of our culture at the feet of bishops who refuse to proclaim Catholic truth of faith and morals to the world.  I might add that not only do these bishops refuse to do so themselves, but they punish their priests who do speak out; think of Father Michael Rodriguez, Father Marcel Guarnizo, Father James Haley.  Click here if you cannot see embedded video.

Montgomery County CPC Rule - Unconstitutional!

Not all court rulings last week were nonsensical!  Last week the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals threw the Montgomery County cpc "disclaimer" rule into the dung heap where it belongs.

The Montgomery County Council, following the script dictated to them by NARAL, tried to violate the free-speech rights of pro-life volunteers by passing legislation - literally out of the NARAL playbook.  The first hearings were conducted in December 2009.  I reported extensively on them at that time, using many video and audio clips of the same.  Since over half of the council members at that time were NARAL-endorsed, no  one really doubted that the measure would pass.

Centro Tepeyak Pregnancy Center in Silver Spring MD took the lead in taking the thing to court.  Their efforts paid off.  By the way, the same ordinance passed in Baltimore City also went down in flames.

As you read the Post blog piece, note some of the comments.  Even those who consider themselves "pro-choice" understand the draconian nature of what the local legislatures tried to do.  Hopefully they'll think things through some more and will come to realize that the pro-baby-murder tyrannical mindset can't help but manifest itself in other facets of life and human interactions.

Young Lady, Almost Aborted, Tells Her Story

Please watch this and pay attention.  Understand some things.
  • Prayer alone will not suffice to end abortion (or any other heinous evil).  We must act.  We must place ourselves - on a regular, frequent and committed basis - where the need is.
  • One person - such as the sidewalk counselor of 18 years ago - can and will make a vital difference.
  • At the 2:30 mark, note that the young lady makes plain that the usage of pictures depicting the horrible reality of baby-murder was a factor in saving her life.

Catholic Commentary On SCOTUS Ruling - The Good And Not-So-Good

First let's look at the Vortex's take on the matter.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

He focuses on one statement of Roberts: "It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices."  Be Roberts' other statements ever so erroneous, this one isn't!  We need to look no further than the Catholic vote, and inane prattlings from "katholyc" persons and entities for prime examples of sheer stupidity.

Let's take a look at the statement that the USCCB issued on June 28th as a commentary to the Supreme Court ruling; it's posted on their website.  As you read it, take note of the fact that they don't oppose the individual mandate in principle.  In the second paragraph we read that "USCCB..took no position on the specific questions posed to the court".  They do oppose the coercion of religious employers to fund sterilization, contraceptives and abortifacients.  The "million dollar question" I have for the USCCB is this:  How on earth can you claim mandate exemptions for religious organizations (including yourselves) yet look with approval upon the forcing of other people to purchase any commodity which they may not desire to have (for whatever reason)?  Dear USCCB, your stance reeks of sheer hypocrisy!!

Sister Simone Campbell, who is leading the Nuts Nuns On The Luxury Bus schmooze tour, issued an opinion that was published on a Washington Post blog.  After all the contortions that she puts forth, she opines of Obamacare that "this law is pro-life".  Amazing, but you read it yourself!  Of course she'll never meet the babies that will be killed by the abortifacients that Obamacare will coerce the public to fund.  As those children are nothing to the Obama cartel, so they are to Campbell and her NETWORK bus bunch.

In other related news, we read that Sister Carol Keehan and her so-called "Catholic" Health Association are "pleased" by the Obamacare ruling.  Moreover, she states that the CHA signed amicus briefs urging the SCOTUS to rule in favor of Obamacare.  Well, golly-gee-whiz!!  After we all thought she was beginning to wake up and smell some coffee!   Some progressive operative must have taken her to the woodshed - or perhaps promised her another Pen of Perfidy.  Yawn!  This is no earth-shattering shock.

So as not to end this post on such a dour note, I link now to an interview with Archbishop Joseph Naumann of the Archdiocese of Kansas in Kansas conducted by the Catholic World Report.  He has good things to say regarding the principle of subsidiarity (a principle obviously disregarded and even disobeyed by the USCCB as illustrated above), why the social justice arm of the USCCB was wrong to demonize Paul Ryan's budget proposal and more.  Please read it.  In a subsequent post I will put forth my opinion on what we must do if we wish to fend off the Obamacare monster.
