CCHD - Designed To Fund Marxist Revolutionaries

In this episode of the Anchor Team, Michael Hichborn gives the latest run-down on the CCHD, but then delves into the underlying principles that have been driving the CCHD during its entire sordid existence.  These principles have been the impetus for their funding decisions, and are now becoming obvious, owing to the damage that has been inflicted on the Church and civilization as a result. 

 At the 51:55 mark, we see that one of the CCHD grantees was into establishing what they called "deep democracy".  Hichborn goes on to explain how this is a form of marxism called anarcho-syndicalism.  In Hichborn's words, "its ultimate goal is the conquest by the workers of the means of production in order to change and revolutionize society."  With workers managing these means of production, the unions would be the backbone of the new socialist society.  So the CCHD is being used to transform society into a universal marxist society.  Alinsky and Egan visualized that goal right from the start of the CCHD.  Think back on all the CCHD-related posts on this blog and other locales.  They all expose organizations that are anti-God, socialist  and recipients of CCHD largesse.  

So the CCHD is funding organizations that attempt to bring about socialism.  A key point that Hichborn makes at the 58:50 mark is that to break down people's resistance to socialism, they have to break down the morality of the people.  That is why CCHD funds groups that promote sexual perversions, feminism abortion, etc.  The CCHD wants the immorality promoted to advance the socialist revolution.  Our American forefathers realized that.  We certainly can see it as we examine the culture, seeing that those wallowing in all sorts of sloth and hedonism are also quite infantile, lacking in any discipline and looking to government to be the "adult in the room" to cater to their needs and wants.

Hichborn states that is why we must get rid of the CCHD.  I'll go further and say that is just one reason why the entire USCCB and its state-level copycats (that means you, Maryland Catholic Conference!) need to be demolished.

Baltimore CCHD Gets A New Director

Here is the write-up in Baltimore's Catholic Review.  Monsignor Richard Bozzelli is replacing Monsignor William Burke, who ran the Baltimore CCHD for 50 years.  According to the Review, Burke "left his legacy of social justice in the Baltimore area."   Legacy of social justice!  If these escapades are their idea of "legacy of social justice", no wonder Baltimore has degraded into a decrepit slum town!

Burke was at the helm of the CCHD these past several decades, so he completely owns responsibility for those debacles.

Truth be told, I don't expect much improvement (if any) under Bozzelli, for the corrupt hierarchy would not choose someone who might actually bring Catholic faith and morality into its social-justice rackets. I'd be delighted if I were proven wrong in that respect, but I don't think that will happen.

Attention, Archdiocese Of Washington Catholics! CCHD Collection This Weekend

This weekend's second collection is for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.  As it has been amply demonstrated time and again that monies donated in this collection will serve only to undermine the Faith, we urge you to boycott this collection!  Not one penny of Catholic money towards communism, pro-abortion groups, gay and transgender activism, etc.  There are plenty of truly worthy charities where your donations will be properly utilized.

How The Seamless Garment Nonsense Poisons The Mind And Soul

This is the eve of the presidential election.  It's worth a reminder that faithful Catholics simply cannot vote for Joe Biden, for to do so is to formally and materially cooperate with the mortal sin of abortion that he openly supports.  Many good people, including faithful priests, are stating that we, as faithful Catholics, simply cannot vote for any Democrat because they all embrace their God-hating, anti-life platform.  I for one heartily concur.

However, too many Catholics have swallowed the seamless-garment codswallop and are letting lesser issues blind them to the heinous evils of abortion, euthanasia, homosexual perversions, etc.  The Lepanto Institute has uncovered evidence that the CCHD is funding organizations that are supporting Biden and all the other anti-God bile.  This information is crucial, not only for the election, but for two other reasons:

1. Most dioceses in the US will be conducting their in-pew collections for the CCHD this month.  They must be completely boycotted.  I'll have more pointers on that in a future post.
2. There are some former pro-life leaders who have become embroiled in leftwing "social justice warrior" distractions.  These distractions have so robbed them of mental and spiritual clarity that they are publicly supporting pro-abortion Joe Biden.  

Click on that second link and go down about 1/3 of the page, where Hichborn discusses what Dolores Huerta says.  She points out the cross-sectionality between the immigrant rights movement, the workers' movement, the LGBT movement and the pro-abortion movement.  As the saying goes, the broken clock is correct at least twice a day.  All those progressive causes intersect, and the pro-life person who dilly-dallies in one will find him/herself seduced by all the others.  Two years ago I wrote of Rob Schenck, a former leader who did an about-face and now supports Roe v Wade.  Regrettably he is voting for Joe Biden.  Now I am saddened to learn that Father Paul Schenck (Rob's identical twin), a Catholic priest, has also announced his support for Biden.  His statement appears on his brother's blog.  Note his reasons all stem from seamless-garment nonsense.  So much error, so little time.  This article does a nice job of picking apart Father Schenck's flawed thinking. 

If by any chance some are reading this on Nov 3rd and haven't voted yet, please make sure to cast your vote for Trump.  

I also urge us all to place our efforts to eradicating the intrinsic evils of abortion, euthanasia, perversions of sexuality and marriage.  To embrace the seamless-garment thinking is to endanger your soul.

CCHD = Catholics Colluding with Homosexual Deviants

What else would you call this?  I'm talking about the (drum roll, please!) "41st Annual Social Minstry Convocation".  It will happen Saturday, Feb 29, at Mercy High School in Baltimore MD. 

Take a visual stroll through this flyer.  It's chock-full of the usual "social justice" dribble: environmentalism, poverty, immigration, etc, with one striking addition.  Item 9 touts a workshop entitled "Why Our Parishes Need LGTBQ+ Ministries" - for safe places and all that!  You notice there's no talk of assisting these people out of their sinful lifestyles.  Given what we've seen of St. Ignatius and their group, we could safely surmise that these "ministries" aren't much more than dating services for deviants.  In other words, these "ministries" are about the sordid business of cooperating with mortal sin.  Is that what they mean by "social ministry"?

Now go to the very last page, the registration section.  To whom does one make their check to attend this gab-fest?  Why, to CCHD/Archdiocese of Baltimore!  So the Archdiocese of Baltimore is actually putting on this claptrap?  Well, let's look at their own webpage versus the flyer, which was found on St Matthew's site.  Shrewdly they did not post that flyer on their own site, but they do tout this "convocation".   Now look at the subpage for the awards presented.  You see that the same awards mentioned are similar to those in the flyer.  Despite their attempts to be discreet about their pro-gay shilling, Baltimore's CCHD has been caught with its hand in the cookie jar, so to speak.

So can one imagine CCHD facilitating sinful conduct?  Would they do it for any other destructive lifestyle choices, like usage of "recreational" drugs?  Well, yes.  Nationwide, they have given grants to marijuana farms and funded needle-exchange programs. 

As if we needed it, here is yet another reason to boycott the next CCHD collection.  For Baltimore, that will happen in November.  If you need additional reasons to boycott the collection, I'm sure some will sprout up between now and November.

USCCB To Spearhead Meeting Of Katholyc Social Justice Warriors

In February 2018, the USCCB will be hosting the "2018 Catholic Social Ministry Gathering".  What will they be discussing?  How about the wanton slaughter of thousands of babies everyday via abortion?  That's going on 2 million babies in the US alone that have been murdered since 1973.  But no, that's not going to be mentioned at this "gathering".  How about the encroaching of gay sexual perversions in our culture as these people maul and mutilate anyone who dares to live by their Christian principles?  That too doesn't rate a blip on this "gathering's" radar.

So if they aren't taking of matters that are intrinsic evils and that threaten the very moral fabric of our Church and civilization, how do they plan to waste three days?  Why by talking up three of the favorite progressive fronts causes: racism, immigration, environment.

Go to the bottom of that and see who some of the speakers are.  Sister Patricia Chappell was at one time the Executive Director of the dissident Pax Christi USA.  Kim Daniels fancies herself to be an "apostle".   Here are some of the participating organizations.  Of course we'd expect CRS and CCHD to be involved.  We also see the Catholic Climate Covenant.  Look at what is included among the workshops: "Best Practices in Responding to Racial Unrest"?  Well, along that vein, I'm happy to remind one and all that the Messiah Most Miserable is gone from the White House and his anointed "heir" was roundly defeated; that should keep some pot-stirring at bay.  So there must be other workshops not listed.  In light of my previous post, I wonder if one of them might be "How SJWs can wisely use bribery"?  That would be taught by CCHD personnel.

I refer you now to an article entitled "Dissenting Catholic Charities: Organizing For The Left".  It perfectly describes these SJW-faux-katholyc groups.  This so-called "Social Ministry Gathering" is a "case-in-point" example of the efforts of which Mr. Warner wrote.  I may have more on this gathering later, especially since it's happening in Washington DC.

Use Alinsky Bucks To Say #no2CCHD

For most dioceses across the nation, November is the time when the annual CCHD shakedown will occur during the second collections.  As one might expect, the CCHD continues to divert Catholic dollars to organizations that are part and parcel of the culture of death.  There is no reforming that monster.  The Catholic Campaign for Human Development, along with the even more monstrous United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, must be consigned to the dung heap of infamous history.

CCHD = Cash for Chaos, Hatred and Disorder

We are all aware of the violence that has erupted in the wake of Trump's election as President of the United States.  One thing this illustrates is the results of poor education that has been allowed to go on for these past few decades.  It is poor by design.  John Dewey has rightfully been called the Father of Modern Education.  How many are aware that Dewey was a signer of the original Humanist Manefesto?

However, the violence in many cities (all of the cities being in states that Hillar carried, oddly enough) isn't just the work of spoiled little snowflakes pitching temper tantrums.  There is organization behind it as LifeSiteNews points out.

One of the organizations behind the mayhem is MoveOn.org, controlled by George Soros.  Soros' infiltration of progressive Catholic circles has been documented.  His organization, Faith in Public Life, several years ago attempted to refute an exposition of the CCHD done by Michael Hichborn.  Much has been written on this blog and others regarding the fact that monies collected by the CCHD were diverted to "community organizing" outfits that are anti-life, anti-God; many of these have been known to foment the kind of violence that has swept up the disgruntled Clinton supporters.

If you haven't done so yet, please watch the video "A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing".  It's long, but well worth the investment of time.  It tells the history of the invasion of progressives in the life of the Catholic Church in the US, focusing on the role of Saul Alinsky.  Furthermore, it details how Alinsky and his cronies in the Church created the Campaign for Human Development for the purpose of diverting Catholic donatons to progressive causes.  Later the word "Catholic" was put in front of the rest of the name.  That is to say that the entire purpose of CCHD was evil from its inception, as opposed to being once noble but only recently corrupted.

During the weekend of November 19-20, most dioeses in the United States will be devoting the second collections to the CCHD.  We must boycott this collection as we've done in previous years.  Many of us are tired from the election, but we must resist the temptation to "tune out and take a break".   The CCHD is a factor in the rot inside both the Church and the United States.  We must starve this beast known as CCHD.  With Trump's election, we've been given a reprieve by God, some more time to pray and work to establish the Culture of Life.  Let's not lose momentum but press ahead, starting by saying #no2cchd.

This Weekend!! Boycott CCHD Collection

Most dioceses still retain the old second collection schedule whereby the second collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development occurs in November.  A few years ago, as calls for boycotts resulted from the CCHD scandals unearthed by faithful Catholics, a few dioceses tried various tricks to sidestep boycott efforts.   One of these is my own diocese, the Archdiocese of Washington (DC).

They not only moved that second collection to August, they decided to combine it with the collection for the Catholic Communications office.  Thus not only did they reschedule it, they renamed it - ostensibly to recognize the other organization.  So now we have the "Catholic Communications and Human Deveopment" collection.

If you go to this page for the Archdiocese of Washington second collection schedule, please click on the link entitled "2016 second collection schedule", you'll notice that for most parishes, the CCHD collection will occur this coming weekend - that is, today and tomorrow.  I said "most parishes" for a reason.  My parish, according to its bulletin from last week (go here and click on the 7/31 bulletin and go to page 6) you'll see the CCHD collection scheduled for the following weekend.

I've written copiously about the many problems of CCHD, including its extremely inauspicious origins.  I needn't rehash all that here but now link to an anthology for your information.  I will highlight one of those posts for in it is a flyer that you can print and put in the CCHD envelope in lieu of money.

Please do not give any money to CCHD.  It's time to starve this beast once and for all.  Say #no2cchd.  Please spread this word on email and your social sites.

Church's Charitable Umbrella Organizations Are Decidedly Uncharitable

During the past two days I linked to stories detailing how the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and Catholic Charities are serving anti-life agendas.  Unfortunately the accounts of their misuse of Catholic money continue to accumulate, and the Catholic Relief Services seems to be following suit.

The Lepanto Institute recently exposed the production by Catholic Relief Services of a sex-education program in Rwanda.  It promotes the usage of abortifacients, contraceptives, masturbation and homosexuality.  The program is called "My Changing Body" and it is produced in partnership with Georgetown University's Institute for Reproductive Health.  Ostensibly Georgetown used to be Catholic, but it too has jettisoned all authentic Catholicism from its life and is Catholic in name only.  The Lepanto site links to their full report on "My Changing Body"and has screenshots of some of the material used by that program.  It is immoral, anti-life - and funded with Catholic donations.

The Lepanto Institute learned something brand-new about the CCHD this week.  We know from many years of their misbehaviors that they've funded all sorts of anti-life and socialistic ventures, but apparently "community organizing" has taken a new turn - marijuana farms!  This is occurring in California (of course!).  The California Center for Cooperative Development received $50k to start some "medical marijuana cooperatives".  Next we hear they'll be starting some avant-garde opium dens or safe-haven needle exchange projects - oh wait! - Catholic Charities beat them to it several years ago!

Speaking of Catholic Charities, they have a new president - Sister Donna Markham.  She worked for a while at Georgetown University (there's that name again!) and then became prioress of the Adrian Dominicans.  Under her less-than-illustrious leadership, this order joined the Catholic Health Association and helped ramrod through Obamacare, in direct opposition to the bishops.  She's been associated with the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, serving a term as its president.  When the Vatican launched its investigation into the LCWR, she waxed both arrogant and indignant at the Church for so doing.  Such is Catholic Charities' leadership.

I do want to highlight a few things about CCHD's ongoing linkage to Alinskyian community organizing.  It is alive and well; one must remember that CCHD was founded with the express purpose of funding socialistic and atheistic endeavors with the contribution dollars of unwitting Catholics.  My colleague Stephanie Block has done much work in exposing these "community organizing" outfits for the menaces that they are.  In this piece she exposes the linkage between the Industrial Areas Foundation with illegal immigration.  Recall that a few days ago I exposed the misdeeds of Action In Montgomery.  AIM was front-and-center with the left-wing as they were shilling for the DREAM Act a year or two ago in Maryland.  AIM is an IAF affiliate.  In her next piece detailing the Senate campaign of rabid pro-abort Loretta Sanchez and IAF's support for her, Stephanie details how Sanchez's supporters relied on the votes of newly-naturalized aliens to defeat pro-life Bob Dornan for the US Congress.

Many Catholics are unaware (or they won't accept) that their contributions to Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services and/or Catholic Campaign for Human Development actually serve to undermine the Church and facilitate death and destruction, both spiritually and physically.  It's time to say #no2cchd, #no3crs and #no2cathcharities.

CCHD - Linked To Abortifacient Distribution In Montgomery County MD

On Sunday I posted a link to the work that Lepanto Institute is doing regarding CCHD's underhanded funding of organizations that are either directly funding anti-God activities or partnering with other such organizations.  On that page was a link to the list of 2014-2015 CCHD grantees, and I'll post that link right here.

In all honesty, I'll inform you that what I relate below is not the result of my research but that of another faithful Catholic of Montgomery County MD.  I've not received permission to divulge their identity.

Almost at the very top of that list you'll notice that Action In Montgomery, within the Archdiocese of Washington, received $75,000.00 of your donation dollars (not mine for I ceased donating to CCHD decades ago).  Please note that AIM is a local affiliate of the Industrial Areas Foundation, founded by Saul Alinsky himself (note - the IAF site has scrubbed all mention of its history, but the wikipedia piece reveals the inconvenient truth of the Alinsky-IAF linkage).  Its leadership team is composed of representatives from various organizations.  One of them is Identity, Inc.  Identity was co-founded by Diego Uriburu, who is its Executive Director.  Recently the White House selected him for honors as a "Champion of Change".  As the blurb indicates, Uriburu is considered to be a proponent of "the rights of latino, immigrant and LGBT communities".  That is to say he openly advocates to have homosexual conduct legitimized.

Last year the Washington Post ran an article detailing how Identity insinuated itself into several Montgomery County schools with the stated aim of "teen pregnancy prevention".  While the article mentioned one of Identity's partners, Mary's Center, it failed to mention another - Taya Health Connection.  I refer readers to their Facebook page and website.  They do dispense contraceptives, Plan B and the "morning after" pill.  The latter two are abortifacients; they induce early abortions.  They are also in the same building that houses Planned Parenthood: where I've been praying for the past 10+ years.  While I'd hope that Taya doesn't refer to them for abortions, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that is occurring.

So there we have it.  The CCHD is funding AIM, which is in turn partially controlled by organizations that are dispensing abortifacients.  It's just another reason to say #no2cchd.

By the way - as you examined the "leader" list of AIM, you might have noticed that two others are connected with St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Gaithersburg.  The Catholic hierarchy of MD has been wrongly enamored with the DREAM act, also championed by AIM.  I can only surmise this was a motivation for St. Martin's to jump on the AIM bandwagon.  I point this out to illustrate how the Church hierarchy can and does embroil itself in squalid networks when they seek to glom onto progressive causes favored by the anti-God forces in our culture.

Catholic Charities And CCHD - Their Scandal Counts Are Ever Mounting

A few days ago I posted the discovery of Lepanto Institute that the director of a CCHD grantee organization (to the tune of $40k) performs same-sex marriage.  That gives us all an idea of his moral compass and how he might choose to misuse the grant that was garnered from the donations of Catholics in the pews.  On the same day, my friend and Catholic Media Colleague, Stephanie Block, published an article in Spero News Forum exposing yet another CCHD grantee called CAFE in New Mexico.  I won't rehash it here; please read it yourselves.  I will point out something she mentioned and that is her plans to expose other grantees in the future.  I'll post these as soon as I see them.  If you would like to do some research on your own (and I highly encourage it), the CCHD 2014-2015 grantee list is online at the USCCB site.  Take a look.  You may wish to download this pdf to your own computers in case it (ahem!) "mysteriously" disappears from the USCCB site!

Not to be outdone in scandal production by its CCHD cousin is Catholic Charities.  They too are rife with their own scandals; of these I have written in the past.  The latest (ht - LifeSiteNews) is their choice of president - Sister Donna Markham, O.P.  She comes with much sordid baggage.  I don't want to re-invent LifeSiteNew's wheel here but I will point out that as prioress of the Adran Dominicans, that order joined with the Catholic Health Association to press for Obamacare.  That order deliberately promulgated the lie that abortion would not at all be facilitated by Obamacare.

Speaking of Catholics shilling for Obamacare, I see that Sister Carol Keehan remains on the Board of Trustees for Catholic Charities.  I wonder if she brings her Pen of Perfidy to the board meetings?

Do not give either of these organizations a penny of your hard-earned money during those in-pew collections .  Same for Catholic Relief Services.  Just say #no2CCHD and #no2CatholicCharities and #no2CRS.

Leader Of CCHD-Funded Organization Performs Same-Sex "Marriages"

The Lepanto Institute reports that a recipient of $40,000.00 from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development is led by a clergyman that performs same-sex "marriage".  The organization in question is the Inland Empire Sponsoring Committee.  Its president is Michael Fronk, who happens to be pastor of First Christian Church in Pomana, California.  Both Fronk and the church he leads show themselves to be facilitating the abomination of homosexual conduct, as you can see on Lepanto's page.

Because the local bishop defunded another aberrant organization, there is hope that he will also defund this one as well.  Still, this incident is just the latest in a long string of such scandalous grants in CCHD's history.  This is not a "failure to vet" on the part of the national CCHD, which is still headed by the scandal-ridden Ralph McCloud.  They know full well what they're doing.  It's high time we all, once and for all, said #no2cchd.

Montgomery County Official Colluding With NARAL To Facilitate Murder Of Babies

Today LifeSiteNews revealed that they obtained proof that Maryland NARAL colluded with George Leventhal, Montgomery County Council president, in the County's legislative effort to cripple pro-life pregnancy centers.  The article links to a series of emails between Leventhal and Jodi Finkelstein, Maryland NARAL president.  I'd encourage you (particularly Montgomery County citizens) not only to read the emails but to download the pdf onto your own computers.

While the news is disgraceful, it is not at all surprising.  In December 2009 I recorded much of the hearing regarding the bill.  If you go to my archives  of that time period you'll see a whole collection of video.  One of those posts discusses the obvious bias of George Leventhal and his arrogance towards pro-life citizens who testified against the legislation.  Of course NARAL has endorsed him during election times, no doubt giving him lots of award and motivation for facilitating baby-murder.

But George Leventhal and his pro-abortion cronies aren't the only ones who are helping NARAL spill more babies' blood.  In one of her emails to Leventhal, Finkelstein outlined some strategies.  At least some of them were taken from a NARAL publication entitled "Choice Action Kit - Unmasking Fake Clinics - A Step By Step Guide".  It's a 56-page tome and I happen to have a copy.  On page 2 of this publication are some acknowledgements; one of those acknowledged is the Midwest Academy.  A woman named Helen Booth started it and is an unabashed leftist.  As I said in this post three years ago, her husband addressed a USCCB conference.  Consider: they aided and abetted NARAL in their misdeeds.  Why would the USCCB invite her or her husband to address Catholics?

We can also ask this question: why did the Catholic Campaign for Human Development ever deem the Midwest Academy worthy of a grant?  Here, courtesy of Michael Voris and company, is an expose of CCHD's underhanded practices.  In a nutshell, what all this means is that Catholic donors unwittingly funded pro-abortion attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers.

I would hope voters would remember this collusion during the 2018 elections.  However, Montgomery County is infested with progressive lemmings so I don't hold much hope.  Sadly I don't hold much more hope for the USCCB and its CCHD.  They both should be dismantled before they continue to sabotage the Church further.

CCHD Currently Funding A Planned Parenthood Partner

Here is Reason # 5,289 why no Catholic should ever donate one penny to CCHD.  It may well go towards aiding and abetting Planned Parenthood.

The Lepanto Institute, under the leadership of Michael Hichborn, has discovered that the CCHD is granting money to the Cleghorn Neighborhood Center, a Massachusetts-based "community-organizing" outfit.  On its Title X grant application, Planned Parenthood listed Cleghorn as a "community partner" - a partner that has referred young people to Planned Parenthood for "services" - including contraceptives and abortions.  I need not rehash the Lepanto report; please read for yourselves.

"But that's Massachusetts!  What does that have to do with our CCHD collection across the country?" you might ask.  Bear in mind that 75% of all collections are earmarked for the national CCHD office; only 25% of the collections are permitted to remain for local grants.  That means that the bulk of your donations are at the disposal of Ralph McCloud and company - should you choose to donate.  Please don't.

Hichborn On CCHD, Cdl Maradiaga And Their Corrupting Influences On The Church

Christine Niles of Forward Boldly recently interviewed Michael Hichborn of Lepanto Institute.  Hichborn has done extensive research on the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and other socialistic encroachments into the leadership and structure of the Catholic Church.  Another corroding element upon which he touched is Cardinal Maradiaga.  He focused on Maradiaga's leadership of Caritas International.

The interview was extensive so perhaps time did not permit the discussion of other issues regarding Maradiaga; I've touched upon some of these, as you can see in this anthology of blog posts.  One of them is the role that Maradiaga played in our recent and ongoing influx of illegal aliens pouring through our southern border.  The other is the role that he played in the SinNod last month, advocating for the distribution of Holy Communion to those living in adultery.  Yet another is the role that Maradiaga holds as he is de facto head of the group of eight cardinals who are top advisers to the Holy Father.  Pope Francis picked them himself.  I find it difficult to believe that the Holy Father was unaware of Maradiaga's unsavory doings at the time of his selection.

Baltimore CCHD Directly Funding Promotion Of Contraception And Abortifacients

On the website of the Baltimore CCHD is a list of its grantees for 2013.  Notice under "local grants" that $13,000.00 of donations bilked from Baltimore-area Catholics went to an organization called New Lens.  They appear to be a youth-targeting community-organizing bunch that specializes in the usage of new media to sell its philosophies and wares.

A look at New Lens' "projects" sub-page gives more detail regarding the misuse of Catholic donations.  They work with "a wide variety of organizations and topics".  These organizations include Planned Parenthood and ACLU.  Using their new media training, proteges of New Lens have produced a video about "making good contraceptive choices for the Health Department of Baltimore City".  Now ponder this, if you will.  Catholic donations are being used to shill for contraceptives and abortifacients, and this promotion is then being donated to the City of Baltimore?  It's bad enough that the City of Baltimore would do this deed on their own, but now Catholics are donating to this over and beyond their tax dollars?  Ladies and gentlemen, how many things are so wrong with this picture???  Anyway, here's the results of Baltimore Catholic dollars - promoting contraception and abortifacients.  Now here's another video, a joint effort of New Lens and Planned Parenthood, called "Birds and the Bees".  If you do watch this, pay attention to the girls on the swings.  There is an outright lie regarding Plan B; it acts by inhibiting implantation of the newly-conceived child into the uterus.  That is an early abortion.  The video ends by thanking Planned Parenthood of Maryland and referring additional questions to them.  So Catholic dollars are purchasing free advertising for the death peddlers known as Planned Parenthood.

I understand that the Archdiocese of Baltimore will hold its in-pew collection for the CCHD during the weekend of Nov 23-24.  Might it not be time to say #no2cchd?

ADDENDUM
I forgot to provide some historical perspective.  This is NOT the first time that Baltimore CCHD directly funded immoral activity.  Four years ago this blog reported that Baltimore CCHD funded a local ACORN office that James O'Keefe targeted in one of his stings as ACORN staffers advised him on "best practices" for running a brothel filled with underage girls.  The post is here.

With this in mind, we cannot reasonably ascribe the New Lens funding to inadvertent error.  Think of it; I and others easily exposed New Lens as peddling instruments of baby-murder.  A little "due diligence" on the part of Baltimore CCHD staff would have revealed the same information.  Do we really believe that people with any modicum of intelligence and integrity would not have learned from their lessons of four years ago?   In all honesty, I believe that Baltimore CCHD directors are completely complicit in funding grave moral evil.  Do we have all elements necessary for mortal sin to have been committed - in the name of the Archdiocese of Baltimore?

Baltimore Catholics, please boycott your CCHD collection.  Say #no2cchd.

CCHD To Try New Schtick To Reduce Poverty??

First , ht to Catholic Culture.

CCHD Director Ralph McCloud (the same fellow who indirectly hindered last month's pro-life victory in Texas) has, according to America magazine, thinks he's discovered "the best antidote to lessening poverty".  Now think a bit on the grammatical structure of that phrase, and keep it on the back-burner.  I'll get to that shortly.

First, just what does McCloud claim this magic bullet to be?  Are you ready?  Drum roll, please.  It is reforming prison-sentence guidelines!

And all the sane people said, "Huh??  What??!??!"

I thought one idea behind these "anti-poverty" efforts was to keep people from committing actions that might get them into jail in the first place.  If they don't commit criminal activity, then prison sentences are irrelevant to them, right?  Isn't CCHD more or less admitting that their clientele will wind up in prison?  Is this a tacit admission that they (CCHD) aren't all they're cracked up to be?

To all the CCHD trolls reading this: if you want to reduce poverty, please listen and implement what Holy Mother Church has been saying for hundreds of years - and what honest secular leaders acknowledge.  The greatest indicator and cause of poverty is a broken family.  What causes families to dissolve?  Sexual immorality: that is, the divorcing of the conjugal act from its ends of engendering life and fostering unity between husband and wife.  Conversely, a deterrent to poverty is an intact family where children are living with both biological parents who are married to each other.  Promote that, as opposed to partnering with "community-organizing" rackets that undermine Church teaching, and you'll make decent strides towards eradicating poverty.

Now let's get back to that odd phrase "best antidote to lessening poverty".  I would ask how that slop ever escaped the proofreaders of America, but since so much theological error whizzes right by them, why not simple logical errors?  I could see the sense in this phrase: "best antidote to poverty", or "best antidote to increasing poverty".  C'mon!  Does McCloud really want the "best antidote to lessening poverty"? Wouldn't he want poverty to lessen?  Why would he want an antidote to that?

On the other hand, since one maxim of Alinskyian thinking is "never let a good crisis go to waste", perhaps the statement as originally laid out expresses their true sentiments.  CCHD was founded by Msgr Jack Egan, a disciple of Saul Alinsky.  Perhaps they'd like poverty to continue, since it provides so much "crisis" to justify their existence and constant agitation for "community-organizing" while they continue to fund nefarious groups.

Thank You, Cardinal George!

Recently the CCHD of the Archdiocese of Chicago defunded the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refuge Rights.  The latter group had previously received funding.  Why did Cardinal George see fit to deny them funding this go-around?  Because the latter group supported same-sex marriage.  It is a well-established fact that any applicant for CCHD funding must affirm that they do not hold positions contrary to the moral teaching of the Catholic Church.

As we well know, many CCHD grant recipients do not uphold their end of the bargain (or they just flat-out lied about their intents to honor Catholic teaching).  Too often prelates have looked the other way (or they actually approve of the deceit and dissent).  That didn't happen this time.

Naturally a bunch of progressive politicians bunched their undies over Cardinal George's decision and published an open letter accusing him of using "immigrants as pawns".  Thankfully His Eminence is standing his ground and he issued his own open letter.  Towards the bottom he reminded his detractors that "Jesus is merciful but He is not stupid."  The dissidents would do well to consider the Cardinal's words sooner rather than later - for it will be too late when they stand before Jesus at the end of their earthly lives.
