The gay lifestyle proponents are tapping into some big cash in their push to play "pretend" with marriage. We were successful in petitioning the measure to ballot. It is Question 6 - we urge a vote "against".
O'Malley put out a cash call. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is kicking in $250,000 towards promotion of a sinful lifestyle. I take this occasion to suggest donations to Maryland Marriage Alliance.

MD Elections - Ballot Question 6
Last March Governor O'Malley signed into law a measure that would grant same-sex couples the legal right to regard their sinful relationships as "marriage". The law was not scheduled to go into effect until 2013. We have the chance, by voting NO on Question 6, to keep the institution of marriage from being contorted.
Led by Maryland Marriage Alliance, activists quickly collected more than twice the number of signatures required to petition the measure to the general election ballot. The Maryland Catholic Conference joined this effort, allowing us access to the lobbies of Catholic Churches. With the overwhelming number of signatures collected, the gay-marriage lobby saw the futility of challenging the signatures; they never could have found a sufficient number of invalid signatures to stymie the effort.
When I discussed the matter of Question 4 a few days ago, I pointed out that it was a matter of prudential judgment as to whether or not one could oppose it. The DREAM Act does not deal with matters of intrinsic evil. On the other hand, Question 6 most certainly does deal with the mortal sin of homosexual conduct. A Catholic cannot, in good conscience, vote "yes" on Question 6 to support the destruction of marriage, a relationship instituted by God Himself. I think it most possible that since a vote for Question 6 would be formal cooperation with mortal sin (not certain of the "material" aspect), meaning that a vote for Question 6 might be mortally sinful.
So now, fellow Catholics and others of good will, it is up to us to spread the word and get our people to the polls. Yes, that means YOU. We don't have George-Soros types pouring untold scads of money our way (if anything, he'd be helping the perpetrators of perversion push through question 6).
Maryland is one of several states with such measures on their ballots. Another state is the State of Washington. Our colleagues in that state put an excellent video together that explains why so-called "gay marriage" is harmful to us all. Please click here if you can't see embedded video. To get active in preserving marriage in Maryland, please click on the the link in the second paragraph.

Gay Activists Post Names Of MD Marriage Petition Signers
A few days ago, the Washington Blade, a news publication by and for those engaging in homosexual sins, published an article entitled "Who Signed the MD Anti-Gay Marriage Petition?" It does little more than link to a scribd list of approximately 110,000 of the signers of the petition. I'm guessing that whoever posted this got an early list and perhaps the later signers were left off.
It's a cheap shot, no matter how you put it. If someone saw fit to waste their time with this, more's the pity. However, some low-life might see fit to try to intimidate you because you had the audacity to exercise your rights as a Maryland citizen. Should that happen, please contact the Maryland Marriage Alliance and advise them.
I hope to seem some of you this coming Wednesday at Chick-Fil-A!

Maryland "Gay Marriage" To Go To Ballot
This past March I posted that we would need at least 57,000 signatures to put on the November ballot the "gay marriage" bill signed into law by Governor O'Malley. Actually, the exact number was 55,736.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of many volunteers and the leadership of the Maryland Marriage Alliance, the total number of signatures submitted was 122,481. The Maryland Board of Elections has 20 days to review the signatures. No one seriously doubts that there is more than a sufficient number to ensure that this measure is put on the ballot so that all Marylanders can vote on it.
This electoral contest will draw nationwide attention. Both sides will pour in much money. Of course, the marriage-wrecking contingent will have "lame-brain" media shilling for it. That means, of course, that our work is far from over. But we've made progress.

Maryland: Gay Marriage Bill Goes To House Floor
The so-called "Civil Marriage Protection Act" has been voted out of committee and goes to the House floor for a full vote, which could happen anytime now. Your voice is needed by your delegates to oppose this bill. Right now, the bulk of communications have come from the gay "marriage" proponents. Your voice is needed!
Both the Maryland Catholic Conference and the Maryland Marriage Alliance have pages that allow you to communicate with your House delegates. Please take a moment NOW and do that.

Maryland Gov O'Malley And Allies Begin Same-Sex Marriage Onslaught
A few days ago, Gov O'Malley introduced Senate Bill 241 "Civil Marriage Protection Act", designed to legalize so-called "gay marriage" in Maryland. Hearings will begin in the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee this Tuesday, January 31st.
The Maryland Marriage Alliance is sponsoring a rally to be held Monday evening, Jan 30, from 6-8pm in Annapolis. More details are on their flyer, which can be printed and circulated. Please come.
Last year we helped stave off this marriage mutation attempt by our many phone calls, faxes and emails. It's time to mobilize ourselves and friends to action once again. Please contact the members of the Judicial Proceedings Committee and ask them to kill this terrible bill. Here is a list of the committee members and it links to the pages of the members for their contact information. Please - let's start on this immediately and encourage everyone you know to spread the word and do the same.
An important note - Governor O'Malley appears to be a main driving force behind this marriage deformation attempt. He calls himself "Catholic". Let us point out to our bishops that he is a prime example of why they should be obeying Canon 915.
Addendum: Here's another good source for info on this issue and other Maryland matters - Maryland Patriots. Here's their page on the marriage matter. Check this page from time to time.
