More On The Persecution Of Kim Davis - And Rebuking The Catholic Hierarchy Regarding Their Indifference To Her Plight

Many folks, even some Christians, opine that David Bunning was "just doing his job" when he treated Kim Davis as a criminal for - obeying the law.  More on that in a moment but first let's take a look at David Bunning himself, for his judicial impartiality may not be so impartial.

Bunning has a judicial record that leans most decidedly to the left, as revealed by the Blaze.  In 2007, he was one of three judges to overturn Michigan's partial birth abortion ban.  A few years prior to that, the public schools in Boyds County KY held "sensitivity training", i.e., gay-pandering brainwashing sessions, requiring that students attend them.  When students objected to being coerced into this spiritual insult, Bunning ordered that they endure the spit-in-face anyway (his order was subsequently overruled).  By the way - Bunning claims to be Catholic; at least his mother says he is.

As far as obeying the law goes, I refer you to this excellent analysis by Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association.  Recall some basic constitutional principles.  We are a nation of laws, not rulings.  Laws are enacted by legislatures, not judges.  Kentucky has defined marriage to be between a man and a woman.  Yes, courts have ruled against true marriage in other states, but a ruling for one state's law doesn't legally preclude another state's law.  Some state governing bodies may carry on like it does, but only because they don't appreciate their own sovereignty. I link now to Allen West who points out the hypocrisy of those criticizing Davis while wallowing in their own lawlessness and disregard for the Constitution.

Getting back to "the law", Mike Huckabee asks under what law was Ms Davis being required by the courts to issue marriage licenses to gays?  The answer is NONE.  Franklin Graham has also publicly supported Ms. Davis.  Here is a petition for the release of Ms. Davis.  It is a gross miscarriage of justice that she is being imprisoned for following properly enacted law while progressives in the White House and other branches of the government who've violated their oaths of office - resulting in loss of life - prowl about scott-free.

By the way, I still haven't heard one peep from the Catholic Church regarding this travesty.  With all the kvetching and ballyhooing they've been doing about "religious liberty", one might think they'd be all over this.  You can bet they would have sprung into immediate action had some serial killer had received the death penalty, so why has no concern been evinced for a totally innocent woman?  I know they've all been aflutter about "walking with Francis" and "going green" but cannot the hierarchy be bothered to utter just the most perfunctory statement of concern for her?

This drama happened in Rowan County, Kentucky.  The local church is the Diocese of Lexington.  As you can see on that site, there is not one mention of Ms. Davis' name.  The bishop is Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv.  It appears that he's only been there six months.  Here is a page where you can email the diocese; alternatively the phone # and address are on the main page, top right corner.  This diocese should be loudly denouncing Bunning's treatment of Ms. Davis and demanding support for her.  The silence of the Catholic Church in the US, particularly this diocese, is nothing short of an abysmal scandal.

March For Marriage - Initial Report And Videos

I and many thousands attended the 2015 March For Marriage (spearheaded by National Organization for Marriage) this afternoon.  It was held on the Mall between the Washington Monument and the Capitol.  I took many shots but for now will feature only three of them.

It started with a rally which was well underway when we arrived.  You'll notice in the first video that I started recordin as we arrived that the Hispanics showed up in force.  I certainly commend them for that; I only regret that they put other Catholics to shame owing to their relative lack of appearance at the mall - particularly those Catholics in the local tri-state area.  To be honest, I know of only one parish in Maryland that gave the march the importance that it deserved.  Could it be that the presence of a same-sex "married" vice president of Catholic Relief Services may well have justified the lack of attention given to this important effort by many local Catholic pastors?

The second video shows the start of the march to the Supreme Court.  I'll have later shots of the march proper up in a day or so.  I commend the American Society for Tradition, Family and Property for lending their support to this effort.  These are the same men who have been leading the Marches for Life over these past many years.

Fighting For True Marriage - March On April 25th

A week or two ago I announced a talk given yesterday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Bethesda and sponsored by CanaVox.  I attended and I'm happy to report that it was very well attended.  They were going to have it in a class room but realized they had to have it in the Church itself (they did repose the Blessed Sacrament properly).  It was recorded; when the video is available I'll post it.

In the Lourdes bulletin announcing this event, mention was made of Dolce and Gabanna.  They are well-known fashion designers who also happen to be a gay couple.  However, they had the clarity - and courage - to publicly acknowledge the necessity of true marriage.  They caught a lot of flack from the gay community for their stance.  Elton John has called for a boycott.  I'd like to point out that this is the same Elton John who enthused over Pope Francis, calling for his immediate canonization.  When that happened, many who wear rose-colored glasses waxed giddy about it, sighing that the pope was "reaching their hearts".  Now I hope that at least in this regard, the rose-colored glasses are flung from their faces.  I refer you now to the Lourdes bulletin as it describes the D&G-versus-John situation quite accurately; I think Ayatollah Elton is quite suitable.  (By the way, dear ADW chancery!  If this bulletin should "disappear", I'll just repost it with yet another blog post about any censorship.  So please don't bother!)

At the talk yesterday was announced the next March for Marriage on April 25th.  Please note that this is a Saturday; most of us who work should be able to make this one.  Here are the details as they appear on the NOM site.  Please be there.  We must speak up for true marriage and the children who suffer because they lack one of their parents.  Please spread the word through social media, email contacts, conversations, etc. So much is at stake.

Affirming Children's Rights To Their Mothers And Fathers

This coming Friday, March 27th at 7:30pm, a group of scholars and authors - all raised by same-sex couples - will be giving a presentation on the topic cited in this post's title.  It will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Bethesda Maryland.  See the flyer at the left for details.

These authors are currently in town and will be filing amicus curiae briefs on Thursday as the Supreme Court hears a case regarding this very topic.  Recently, LifeSiteNews featured a letter by these authors to Dolce and Gabbana, gay fashion designers, for their defense of true marriage.

By the way - when speaking of this matter, I've used the term "traditional marriage".  Henceforth I will use the term "true marriage" to describe the authentic lifelong union of one biological man and one biological woman.  Any attempt to mutate the definition of marriage outside those parameters is both ridiculous and dishonest.  There is "true marriage" and then there are various manners of cheap counterfeits.

The talk is being sponsored by CanaVox.  Here is their website.

Please come and spread the word.  Thank you.
