Father Snyder - Utterly Unqualified To Rebuke Faithful Catholics Who Oppose Illegal Immigration

Those of us who raise voices of concern regarding the influx of "children" (many of them young adults posing as kids) are engaging in "hate talk" - that is, according to Father Larry Snyder, head of Catholic Charities.  Father Snyder, precisely because he is head of Catholic Charities, lacks all moral credibility to rebuke us.  Oh he may try, and no one begrudges his First Amendment rights here, but the fact is that his rants carry not one iota of Magisterial import; in fact it may be quite the opposite.

Recall that yesterday I posted a video by Michael Hichborn of American Life League detailing all the ways that progressive "social justice" arms of the USCCB act to undermine Church moral teaching.  At the 3:22 mark, Hichborn starts an expose of Catholic Charites; at 4:17 he segues into an expose of Father Snyder himself and all the harm he's caused.  Hichborn alludes to a dossier that was composed about Father Snyder.  Here it is.

Lest anyone think that Catholic Charities is acting and speaking out of the goodness of their little hearts, consider the governmental funding that various Catholic Charities received for the express purpose of preparing for this de facto invasion.  I'll summarize the data from the article.

• CC of Galveston: $15.5 million from the HHS
• CC of Fort Worth: $350 thousand from DHS
• CC of Dallas: $823 thousand from DHS

Doing a little quick math, we see that the Catholic Charities offices in Texas received close to $17 million in grants.  Of course those grants ultimately came from the pockets of the US taxpayers - many of whom Father Snyder disingenuously accuses of engaging in "hate talk".  Perhaps he considers "hate talk" anything that might cause the flow of federal funds to stop?

Please share this far and wide.  Father Snyder has no moral credibility whatsoever.  His "hate talk" diatribe is worthy only of derision.  Pray for the man, though.  He needs it.

Pray For Hans Kung - He Is In Mortal Danger

Hans Kung, wildly dissident theologian who has paved the way for so much spiritual chaos in the Church, is in grave danger.  The 85-year old has Parkinson's - and is considering assisted suicide.  If he does so, he not only will end his own earthly life, but may well seal his own eternal damnation.  By far the latter is the greater peril.

Some may hope his Parkinson's reduces his culpability.  I would entertain no such hope.  Consider that the man has been both priest and theologian all his life.  He is well-acquainted with the teachings of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Teaching Magisterium of the Church.  He may not assent to the truth, but he knows what the Church teaches.  Moreover, he is aware of any Catholic's solemn obligation to adhere to the Church's teachings.

In making these reckless statements, Kung puts forth a putrid example to those who are confused and doubtful of Jesus Christ.  If he follows through with his reckless ambition, he will bring spiritual danger to at least one other person.  "Assisted suicide" is murder; he will seek someone to murder him.  That willing accomplice will jeopardize his/her own immortal soul by committing the capital sin of murder.

Let us pray that Kung repents of his hideous plan and his dissidence in general.  He doesn't have much time.

Renegade "Priest" Suing Lifesitenews

Lifesitenews.com, a trustworthy site from which I often glean news items, is being sued by a gay-activist, pro-abortion priest because they've repeated only what the priest himself has openly stated about himself.  The priest's name is Raymond Gravel, and he's suing Lifesitenews for $500,000.  If you can help Lifesitenews, please go here to do so.   If you can't see embedded video, click here to see the Vortex piece on this.

Another Georgetown Dissident Priest

As the DC City Council was getting ready to legalize same-sex "marriage" (it's in quotes because same-sex unions are NOT marriage, despite what secular governments say).   Father Joseph Palacios, a Georgetown University sociology professor joined DC Clergy United for a rally in support of the messure.  I refer you to the article and will note below some logical fallacies in some of his statements.

He likens his own homosexual orientation to his Latino ethnicity.  That's flat wrong.  The Magisterium plainly teaches that the homosexual orientation is intrinsically disordered and is sinful if one acts upon it.  Father states that he is celibate.  Be that as it may, he does advocate for the promulgation of the gay lifestyle.  That is inherently sinful.

He also states that he opposes the stance of the Archdiocese of Washington on this whole mess.  That stance?  It's merely to request that individuals and private business owners be free to refuse goods and services related to same-sex "weddings".  As far as I'm concerned, that stance is rather wimpy.  However, even that doesn't pass the rarified muster of this dissident.

However, as they say, "a broken clock is right at least twice a day".  One statement of his merits close examination. He says, "And it actually doesn't help the church accept dollars for its services. i'm of the generation that lived in the church where everything was separate. Now we're so dependent on the government that Catholics don't have to practice charity". 

His last sentence is spot-on correct.  We Catholics are called upon to practice the works of mercy - both corporal and spiritual.  Matthew 24 and 25 seem to indicate that the Catholic who fails to do so may not attain eternal salvation.  The practice of charity cannot be "subcontracted" out, as it were.  It's not sufficient to chuck a few dollars into the collection basket for the Catholic Charities collection and to think that your charitable obligations are satisfied in some sort of surrogate fashion.  Each of us must get off our duffs, roll up our sleeves, step out of our comfort zones and perform these salvific works. 

The collection basket, though, cannot pass us by.  It is we who must financially support the Church's charitable works.  The Church simply must stop collecting monies from the government.  Else, it becomes a de facto participant in socialistic income redistribution, as it becomes just one more piglet attached to some governmental teet.  Such governmental largesse comes with plenty of strings attached, such as discouragement from preachin on matters of life and sexual ethics. 

Of course, before we fill the collection basket, we scrutinize it carefully.  As we saw last month (and the preceding months to that), the CCHD collection continues to funds organizations harmful to the Church and to the Culture of Life.

As a start to cutting the governmental tethers, our bishops must start to discipline the colleges within their boundaries.  That includes Father Palacios and Georgetown University here, Notre Dame in South Bend, etc.
