Shhhh! Richard Rohr's Coming To DC! Big Secret!

At least, it seems that the Franciscan Monastery in Washington DC tried to keep it a secret!  And why do I think they tried to keep Fr Rohr's appearance "on the q-t"?  Well, let's go to the Monastery's web page.  Look to the right under "events".  Notice how all the events are fairly well-described, except one!  It's called "October 23, 2010 Event."  Now doesn't that seem like an odd way to publicize an event?  I might think that if one were trying to draw attention, they might do something better than give it that non-descript title.  Could it be that the Franciscans simply don't want to draw attention to it?  Now why wouldn't they want to do that???

Let's sneak a peak by clicking on that date (or this link if you'd prefer).
Ooops!  No details there, but it looks like we have a choice of pdfs.  Let's click on the first one called "October 23, 2010 Event.pdf".   Therein lie the details of the appearance.  I suspect they didn't want decent Catholics to get wind of this as we did with their Chris Matthews dissent fest in late June.  Remember that?  They were so reluctant to face us that night that they had to sneak away to some secret location in Bethesda Maryland (they sure do love secrets, don't they?).  Now some might point out that these folks weren't trying to keep Rohr's appearance a secret, since it is in the pdf file.  I think they were.  Rohr was only mentioned in a pdf file.  Pdf files are essentially grraphics; their contents cannot be googled.

Rohr To Roar Some More!

Why is this man starting to pop up like kudzu all over the place?  I have an idea why, but it's just my theory - more on that below.

As I said this past Wednesday, he'll be at Trinity College on October 23rd.  However, the week prior to that, on October 15th, he'll be giving a one-day seminar at Fordham University in New York - a "Parish Staff Enrichment Day"!  Yippee!  Coming from a Jesuit institution these days, who's surprised?  Anyway, here's the announcement:

Parish Staff Enrichment Day with Rev. Richard Rohr, O.F.M.
Friday, 15 October 2010
9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Rose Hill Campus

This will be an opportunity to reflect on creating a contemplative culture and a sabbath rhythm for parish staffs and faith communities.  The Rev. Richard Rohr, O.F.M., will offer a reflection on his new book, The Naked Now.

That book discussion should be a hoot!  What is with this man's grotesque fascination with nudity?  I do understand that  these things "just happen" at his gatherings; here's hoping it doesn't happen at either of these gatherings, since I assume there will be mixed company.  Now onto my theory behind this spate of Rohr's appearances.

My friend at Les Femmes did a more extensive write-up on Rohr's problematic and heretical ideas than did I.  Please read it and the sources cited therein.  As you do, please notice the theme of earth worship that seems to run throughout Rohr's thought.  Earth worship??  Now when did we hear that before?

It's one of the three points I mentioned in my post this past Thursday regarding the "climate change" scam.  I hope you all had the chance to watch the Real Catholic TV expose on this thing.  If not, watch it all the way through.  Voris explains how some in the Church, particularly the USCCB, are glomming onto this hoax.  Call me a "conspiracy-theory kook", but I wouldn't be one bit surprised if some behind-the-scenes big-wig is trotting Rohr out to drum up sympathy for the "climate change" schtick to prepare for something the Messiah Most Miserable might have up his sleeve.

More On The Upcoming Rohr Debacle

This past Wednesday, I blew the BIG SECRET (shhhh!) regarding the upcoming Rohr appearance at Trinity College.  It appears that the Franciscans didn't bother to keep it a secret in Baltimore, as the announcement is posted on the website of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

Do all the chanceries have the memory capacities of an earthworm?  Do they just take press releases in a passive manner without researching them first?  Whatever happened to "due dilligence"?  At the very least, the Archdiocese of Baltimore should be strongly encouraged to remove all mention of this event and to have nothing to do with Father Rohr.

Parish Visit - St Peter's, Madison Street, Chicago

I and a number of others had reason to visit Chicago. This morning we attended the 7:15 am Mass at the above-named church. It is staffed by Franciscans and one said the Mass.

The Gospel for today was the same one for this past Sunday, where Our Lord tells His disciples not to silence anyone who speaks in His name. Well, the priest took this to mean that we must not be "arrogant" and insinuate that "our truth is the right truth". Does anyone recognize the heresy of indifferentism here? How about the lack of simple logic?

Let's illustrate the lack of logic. Say I make the following statement. "There is no truth." Now think about that for a minute and you'll see the paradox. If indeed there is no truth as the statement above claims, that means the statement itself is true. Therefore there must be at least one truth - but then the statement becomes false. Dear readers, this isn't some clever little play on irony. This is proof positive that there does exist objective truth, and that the denial of that basic fact is ridiculous on its face.

We then went to Holy Communion. I receive on the tongue. I could tell that Father was rather reluctant to give the Host to me, but He did. One of my companions made the same observation when she received from him.
After Mass, we saw this flyer on the bulletin board in the lobby. We weren't surprised. The enneagram is a device based on New Age heresy. Richard Rohr, to the best of my recollection, is another Franciscan priest; why the flyer doesn't acknowledge his priesthood is beyond me. At any rate, Father Rohr is heavily steeped in New Age glop.
Chicago is the (reputed) hometown of the Messiah Most Miserable, the Lord Barack Hussein Obama himself. After seeing a church such as this, we can understand how Chicago Catholics were so muddle-brained as to vote for Obama. (Note to all the salivating lawyers out there. This blog and its owner-organization are NOT 501c3 corporations. Therefore, we can make any political-type of statement that we please.) Let's pray that God will break through the obvious confusion and rebellion that exists in such parishes.

Rehumanize International - A Veritable Snake In The Grass

On Facebook I noticed that some pro-life friends of mine, highly respected, "liked" an outfit called Rehumanize International.  If you go to that page, you'll see that they oppose abortion, euthanasia, and other intrinsic evils.  They also oppose capital punishment and nuclear armament, which are not intrinsic evils.  Ladies and gentlemen, when both categories are mish-mashed together in one list, my "seamless garment" red flags start flying.  Therefore I did some research.  Regrettably my suspicions about RI's moral base are confirmed.  Notice that there are intrinsic, anti-life evils that they don't list: contraception, homosexual lifestyle, attacks on marriage and family.

Year Of Mercy Logo: Throw-Back To The 1970s

As you gaze upon the felt-banner leftover from that decade, you might opine that the this post's title be changed from "throw-back to the 1970s" to "throw-up of the 1970s".  It is an eye-sore.  Speaking of eyes, do you notice anything?  Yes!  Jesus and the badly-contorted guy seem to share an eye-ball.  So are they supposed to be Siamese twins, cojoined at the eye-ball?    It's not only grotesque but also quite new-age, hearkening to Hinduism, Taoism and theosophy; read this write-up.

Heretic Father Richard Rohr also seems to be interested in "third eye" gobblygoop.  I've written a bit about him previously.

Didn't the Vatican learn anything from the artistic disaster point forth from the Pontifical Council for Culture three months ago?  To refresh memories, I refer you to a prior post.  I suppose we can be grateful that this "year of mercy" logo doesn't hearken to BDSM activites as the below logo does.  But really!  Why won't they use real art treasures from centuries back - ones that inspire true piety and love of Our Lord, His Church and our fellow man?

For an example of real art, I refer you to the Divine Mercy image incorporated into this blog's logo.  While it dates back only to the 1930s (coming to us via Saint Faustina), it depicts the true nature, source and communication of mercy.  It comes to us via Our Lord Jesus Christ and is communicated to us through the Sacraments and ministry of the Church.  May all come to know authentic mercy through Christ's Church and sacraments.

"Catholyc" Volunteer Network's Love Affairs With Dissidents

You might recall that we became aware of the Catholic Volunteer Network's strange fascination with dissident CINOs last summer.  At that time, they had planned to host an "awards dinner" at the Franciscan Monastery in Washington DC.  Their keynote speaker was Chris Matthews.  We made clear that we were going to picket if there was no public announcement of the cancellation of Matthews as speaker.  Well, lo and behold, we showed up - but the "awards dinner" didn't!  It seems that they were too cowardly to face us.  More can be found here at my various posts regarding that episode.

One might have thought they'd learn some lessons.  I thank my colleague at A Washington DC Catholic for pointing out this year's planned smooch-up to a dissident Catholic.  As he pointed out, at least they aren't planning to desecrate a Catholic location, but the CINO in question is Cokie Roberts.  I'm not certain yet about a protest as there are other unrelated matters for me to consider.

If you saw my comments on the other blogger's piece, you might recall my remarks about the CVN's 2011 National Conference.  Here we have a triple-header of "catholyc" dissidents.  We start off with Rev James Martin, S.J., columnist for the ultra-liberal "America" magazine.  Here's an article from him voicing sympathy for the destructive gay lifestyle.

I've written a considerable amount on Fr Richard Rohr.  Please read it, along with the expanded posts and the links to other revelatory material.  Please take note of his strange fascination with male nudity and the "emerging church movement".

Last but not least we have "Rev" Heidi Neumark.  We can be grateful that she is not Catholic.  The webpage of her Lutheran church in Manhattan gives us a glimpse into her mindsets.  She is working on "challenging the Christian Right from the heart of the Gospel."  That's nice.  Is there a companion effort to challenge the "Christian Left" regarding their silence and complicity when it comes to the evils of contraception, abortion and gay behaviors?  I didn't think so, either.

So there you have it: the none-too-stellar lineup of "keynote speakers" at the CVN National Conference in Philadelphia.  I call upon faithful Catholics in the vicinity of Philadelphia to stand up to this dissident gab-fest that is scheduled to blight their city.

Another Reason To Ponder How We'll Resist The Progressive Encroachment

Lepanto Institute today released an expose of yet another progressive cabal known as Association of United States Catholic Priests.  Not being a quasi-official Church organization, they apparently feel little need to maintain any facade of orthodoxy - and they don't!

On the AUSCP home page, you'll see links to articles detailing their planning for "women deaconesses" and "priestless parishes".  Lepanto unpacks that mess nicely; it's part and parcel of disenfranchising Catholics of their access to valid Sacraments and distorting their understanding of the same.  On other pages, you'll see that these priests are concerned - very concerned, I tell you! - about such matters as immigration, gay rights, death penalty, climate change, gun control.  Need I tell you what's missing from that list - and their page?  How about the intrinsic evils of contraception, abortion, homosexual conduct, abuse of embryos, euthanasia?  Are you surprised that they aren't mentioned?  I didn't think so!

They do seem to have quite an assortment of clerics with unquestionable heterodoxy: Cardinal Cupich, Fr Richard Rohr, Sr Simone Campbell, and Bishop McElroy.  The latter is of great concern for me, for it is rumored that he will be the designated successor to Cardinal Wuerl once the latter retires.  It hits me at home - literally.

Going down Lepanto's page, you'll see a talk by Jack Jezreel, founder of Just Faith.  I've written about that horrid bunch before.  I didn't listen to the whole thing but Jezreel blathers on about "social justice", as one might expect.   Last week I put up a post explaining why I believe that the "SJW" phenomenon was inimical to authentic Christianity.  Jezreel's association with AUSCP is an illustration of that danger, for "sjw" Christianity often veers into rank heresy.

We need to be aware of these movements, so that if - or when - they come to our parishes, we may be prepared with plans to resist.
