Prominent Jesuits Attempt To Obfuscate Clear Teaching Regarding Worthiness To Receive Holy Communion

Yes, the bishops are trying to fenagle some way to allow prominent pro-abortion Catholics to receive Holy Communion - politicians such as President Biden and Nancy Pelosi, for example.  Archbishop Gomez advised the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith that they (US bishops) were planning to discuss the matter.  

These days, however, the CDF is headed by a Jesuit - Cardinal Luis Ladaria, to be specific.  He wrote back, stating that it would be "misleading" to present abortion and euthanasia as "the only grave matters of Catholic moral and social teaching that demand the fullest level of accountability on the part of Catholics".  Once again, by this current crowd infesting the Vatican, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI is being slapped in the face as his clear directive "Worthiness to Receive Holy Communion: General Principles" is being directly contradicted.  In that, Benedict states that abortion and euthanasia are always grave sins, while in the third section, he states that those who differ on matters such as capital punishment can still consider themselves eligible to receive Holy Communion.  On those matters there may (and often are) legitimate difference of opinions - not so with abortion and euthanasia.

Ladaria suggests that unless the bishops are unanimous on their stance, these matters could be causes of "discord rather than unity".  Well, yes, dissent on matters of inherent evils and the absolute requirement to obey Canon 915 are problems, but not because they make visible the lack of obedience of Our Lord by some bishops.  Where evil exists, not only will there be disunite, but in these situations, disunity is necessary.  As a wise saying goes, "it's better to be divided over the truth than united in a lie".

So what does Ladaria suggest?  Why, dialogue, of course!  Lots and lots of dialogue!  These poor little bumpkin politicians just need a good sit-down!  Of course that's nonsense!  These pro-aborts are running the country (and I daresay the Vatican).  They know very well what the Church teaches - they simply could not care less!

The America article paraphrases Ladaria with the phrase "don't rush the debate".  Truth be told, there is no debate.  One either obeys the teaching of the Church that have been handed down through the centuries, in this case as encapsulated in Canon 915, or they put themselves in disobedience.  This is a battle that is heating up, and I will post more on this later.

Father Orsy At St John The Baptist

Yesterday the periodical "Our Parish Times" was distributed with the parish bulletins.  On page 7 appeared an article on the address given by Father Landislas Orsy, SJ, at St John the Baptist Church in Silver Spring.  I saw he that he is currently at Georgetown.  Right there the combination of "Jesuit" and "Georgetown" raised the proverbial red flags.  The address focused on the Vatican II Council, but first I'll give some other details about his publicized opinions.

I blogged previously on the courageous action of Bishop Thomas Olmsted in pronouncing excommunication on Sister Margaret Mary McBride for her direct aiding and abetting of abortion.  In America magazine (where else?) Father "declared" that excommunication to be "null and void".  I believe the Vatican has given their opinion on this excommunication, but I'll elaborate at the end of this post.

Two months ago America interviewed Father for his comments regarding the council.  Notice how he defines an "ecumenical council" as "human reality and saving mystery".  Hmmm - a rather curious definition for an "ecumenical council"; one might call it overly lofty.  But that's not all!  It's a "tsunami of the faith"!  Why is it that so many people like to co-opt the word "tsunami" for their own pet fantasies?  Now listen closely at the 11:00 mark; it seems that he is claiming that the bishops operate independently of the Holy Father.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

I am not at all surprised that this church would invite him to offer commentary.  Several years ago I had to attend Mass at St John the Baptist.  Right from the beginning I knew I was in for an atrocity.  Immediately after the priest processed in, he stated that before he would begin Mass, we all had to "greet" each other.  Immediately the musicians broke out into a piece that I can only describe as lounge/elevator music while people milled about the nave, back-slapping and howdy-doing each other.  I cringed, and the worst was yet to come.  It turns out that during that very Mass a little girl was making her First Holy Communion.  She looked like the typical First Communicant with white dress and veil.  As Father began the Canon, he caller her to join him beside the altar.  He then asked her to "help" him with the words of the Consecration!  Naturally her family and most of the congregation were all smiles and giggles over this blasphemy.  Of course the little girl was innocent in all of this; in fact, it was she who was the most ill-served in all of this as she received an abysmal example of how to trivialize Mass - and at a time that should have been one of the most holy in her life.

Here is the news regarding Bishop Olmsted to which I alluded earlier.  The Vatican Insider reports that he is slated to become the new Secretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Religious Life.  No doubt the Vatican approves of Bishop Olmsted's handling of the Sister McBride scandal (no doubt to Father Orsy's chagrin).  In his new role, Bishop Olmsted will have much influence over the governance of Catholic religious life.  While the Diocese of Phoenix will miss him, we know that Sister McBride, Sister Simone Campbell, and the rest of that cabal will be quaking in their polyester pant suits - and hopefully come to repentance.

Gender Confusion Within The Church

No, I'm not referring to gays, "transgender" folk or anything else of the sort, so there's no need for my progressive lurkers to get themselves worked up in a blather.  The true situation, unfortunately, is even more basic than that, as my blogging colleague, "Good Jesuit, Bad Jesuit" makes plain.

It seems that Rev Thomas J. Reese, S.J., erstwhile editor of America (until ousted by Pope Benedict XVI), has stuck both feet into his mouth - and apparently swallowed!  "Good Jesuit, Bad Jesuit" reproduces some of Reese's remarks that he made at a forum on December 5th.  The most insipid of these is, "maybe God knows what she's doing."  That's right!  Father used a female pronoun while referring to God.  As a commenter says, since Jesus referred to the Father as a male, the Church will follow suit.  We must conclude one of the three following regarding Father Reese's remarks.  Either:

• Father is suffering from extreme gender confusion when it comes to God, or
• Maybe the "god" that Father worships does present itself as female.  In that case, the "god" is either a figment of Father's imagination or something far more sinister
• "Good Jesuit, Bad Jesuit" took his information from this National Catholic Reporter article.  Knowing that publication's progressive leanings, perhaps someone at NCR tampered with the transcript of Father's remarks.  If so, though, how is it that no one else at NCR caught such an error?

No wonder Pope Benedict XVI relieved him of his editorial responsibilities at America.  Recall that was one of the Holy Father's first acts during his papacy.  Now Father occupies that dissent-den known as Georgetown University.

Progressive Catholic Groups Sign Petition Supporting Ground-Zero Mosque

Look at this online petition and notice the signatures.  They are indeed from that "usual gang of suspects".  They complain about Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich using "inflamatory statements" while refusing to see that the building of this mosque is itself an inflamatory statement.
