Unabashed Blasphemy From Fr Thomas Reese

The latest screed was found in a November 26th editorial found online at the Not-at-all Reporter.  In his shilling for lay participation for selecting bishops, he plopped this stinker: "even Jesus got it wrong one out of 12 times."  No doubt Reese was referring to Judas Iscariot, but Our Lord knew what would happen.

The very notion that the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, who is God Incarnate, would "get it wrong" is inherently blasphemous, as God does not fail.  He is omnipotent and perfect.  But such are the standards (or lack thereof) of both the Not-At-All Catholic Reporter and the Jesuit order.  When Pope Benedict XVI first ascend to the papacy, one of his first acts was to remove Reese from his post as editor of America magazine, the Jesuit rag that was just as heretical as the Reporter.  It still is, of course.

Catholic Standard Slobbers Up To Two Dissident Religious

Sister Jeannine Gramick is co-founder of the gay-pandering New Ways Ministry.  They call themselves "catholic" although they were disavowed by previous DC prelates.  They favor sodomy and the mockery of the Sacrament of Matrimony.  In 2000 both the Vatican and her own order (School Sisters of Notre Dame) ordered her to silence.  She thumbed her nose at them and kept right on yapping.  Both she and her dissident bunch are located in Prince George's County, MD.

Father Thomas Reese, SJ, likewise favors "gay rights".  He was an editor for the "America" Jesuit rag.  That publication was so egregious that when Pope Benedict XVI ascended to the papal throne, one of his first acts was to oust Reese from his position.  At present, he is a columnist for America and the other dissident rag, National Catholic Reporter.  He currently lives in DC, maybe Georgetown.

So what, besides being two dissident religious who make jokes of their vows and who reside in the MD/DC area, do these two have in common?  Why, they are both being lauded by the Catholic Standard for celebrating their 60th anniversaries!  They are listed on pages 22 and 23 of the February 17th paper edition.  I could not find it online (if someone else can find it, please post the link in the comment section).

If these two had spent those 60 years in actual service to the Church, looking to their own eternal salvation and those of others, it would be appropriate to celebrate their milestones in a Catholic newspaper.  But they've done just the opposite.  They've undermined Catholic teaching to the eternal detriment of souls, and to date, they are unrepentant.  Not one word of the flamboyant dissidence of either one is so much as mentioned.  Just what did the editorial staff of the Catholic Standard think they were accomplishing?  Well, it turns out that Gramick is best buds, or "pen pals", with the pope.  And both Reese and the pope are Jesuits.  Hmmm...

Young People Return To Tradition, Whereupon The Progressives Scold

It is no secret to any Catholic with at least one functioning eyeball that young Catholics are rediscovering traditional Catholicism, the patrimony that the now-aging hippies tried to trash.  Funny thing, though.  When something truly is of Divine origin, it simply won't stay under wrap.

A few weeks ago we saw Father Reese of Jesuit magazine wail and gnash his teeth.  He actually had the hubris to declare that "children and young people should not be allowed to attend such Masses".  Rather imperious and arrogant, don't you think?  I attend a traditional Mass myself and I rejoice at the number of young families (with several children each) in attendance.

Father Reese is not alone in bewailing the demise of the clown-rock-hippy-clappy masses.  A few days ago, we saw in US Catholic an article entitled "Parish Differences Pont To Divisions In The Church" by Peter Feuerherd.  I wonder if he is related to the late Joseph Feuerherd of the Not-At-All Catholic Reporter?  That certainly would explain some of his progressive bent.  Anyway, the thrust of his screed is that the mean old rad-trads (never mind that many of them are young people) are making others feel bad and driving them away from the Church.  Truth be told, those others probably never had actual faith in Our Lord and love for His Church, for if they did, the presence of differing people would never cause them to leave.  We didn't leave the Church when the hippy Jesuits were in ascendency.  I think they are looking for an excuse to undermine those who are living the true faith and to excuse their own disdain for the Mass.

Speaking of Not-At-All Catholic Reporter, we have Michael Sean Winters chiming in with his "Catholics Behaving Badly" nonsense.  In this installment he belittles Father David Nix, Bishop Thomas Paprocki, Michael Warsaw, and Sohrab Ahmari.  My!  It gives us bloggers something to which to aspire - to be listed by Winters as "Catholics behaving badly"!

As the liberal hysteria grows, I'm sure we can expect more snit-fits to be published.

The Unhinged Father Reese Tips His Progressive And Tyrannical Hand

The above title is an apt summary for the latest rantings by Father Thomas Reese.  He is a Jesuit purveyor of dissidence and general hatred of the One True Faith.  I suppose that last statement contains some redundancies but it still bears saying.

We find his latest piece of manure at Religion News Service, entitled "The Future Of Catholic Liturgical Reform".  In truth, he is simply engaging in a death throe of the glory days of hippie priests and pant-suit nuns.  It is a hodge-podge collection of anti-Catholic and anti-God slogans, all disjointed from each other.  There is so much error in it, one scarcely knows where to begin to unpack the mess.

You'll notice that he has an axe to grind with Pope Benedict XVI.  No doubt this grudge is a result of Pope Benedict's removal of Reese from his editor position at America rag-mag.  One of the more outlandish statements he made was that "children and young people should not be allowed to attend such Masses (meaning the Traditional Latin Mass)."  One of the commenters in the article rightly pointed out that any such prohibition is a usurpation of parental authority.  Please do read the comments for that article; by and large, the readers see through the farce that pours forth from Reese.

He no doubt notices that the abandonment of tradition is itself passing away with each aging hippy that goes to his or her eternal reward.  The young people who stay with the Church understand, even if only instinctively, that progressive wreckovators like Reese have done nothing but mock our Lord and leave many of their contemporaries rudderless and without knowledge of eternal matters.  They understand that tradition is the guardian of timeless truth and are flocking to it.  Some of us older folks get it, too.  I go to Traditional Latin Masses on Sundays these days.  A goodly percentage of those attending these Masses are young couples with their children - and often quite a few children at that.  Now we see why Reese wants them banned from the Mass.  Reese seems to have jettisoned his faith and replaced it with both ignorance and arrogance.

At least he understands, from a perverse perspective, the principle of "lex orandi, lex credendi, lex vivandi".  This is why he states quite plainly that he wants the Latin Mass to disappear.  That Mass is the most sublime prayer of the Church.  He and his buddies understand that if the Latin Mass is jettisoned, then both faith and morals will likewise be lost.  We've seen it happen on a large scale now for at least 50 years.  Reese wants it to continue unchallenged.

Below I post an analysis of Reese's screed by Taylor Marshall.  Please take the time to listen to this.  I echo his suggestion that all attend the Traditional Latin Mass.

Father Reese Shills For Sex Abuse Cover-Ups

As we saw in the previous post, Father Thomas Reese and the administration of Georgetown University are shills for Planned Parenthood.  Reese complained about the reduction of federal funding for Planned Parenthood and the Georgetown Law School lauds them on their web pages (except when they are trying to hide that fact from us).  Recall several years ago when David Daleiden and his Center for Medical Progress uncovered the trafficking in baby body parts through his investigative reporting.  Now Lila Rose has released some interviews with former Planned Parenthood workers in which the latter detail the ways that Planned Parenthood management sought to evade the reporting requirements, essentially turning their backs on vulnerable and exploited young women.  Dare we opine that had Father Reese been privy to the skulduggery, that he too would have been all for the cover-ups?  So much for #metoo!

Click on the word "youtube" at the bottom right corner to be taken to the other videos to which Ms. Rose refers.  Now ask whether or not Reese et al are knowingly condoning the abuse of these young girls.  Unless they are complete dunces, the answer has to be "yes".

From The Georgetown Follies Department: Georgetown Openly Advocates For Baby-Murder

The scandals emanating from Georgetown University (once faithful to Catholicism, but now gone the way of its Jesuit zoo-keepers) are legion.  You can read about them here.  I had been somewhat surprised that there had been nothing too horrendous coming from them lately.  Alas, that respite has drawn to a close.

Father Thomas Reese, SJ, was a former editor of the Jesuit screed-rag known as America.  When Pope Benedict XVI ascended to the papal throne, one of his first accomplishments was the firing of Reese from his position.  Sadly, that failed to improve the magazine; its current editor is Fr James Martin - but I digress.  After his ouster, Reese joined some of his fellow Jesuit sewer rats inside the sewer called Georgetown, where he can be found today.

Exercising the finest intellectual prowess that Jesuits can muster these days, he announced that pro-lifers must consider voting for pro-abortion Democrats to reduce abortions.  Yes, he said that.  This was done partially to object to the President's recent defunding of Planned Parenthood.  Can one imagine in the 1850s, that logic being used to fight slavery?  I suppose the idea is that the Democrat's socialistic economic policies would reduce incentive for abortions.  Leaving aside for the moment that socialism and income redistribution are themselves inherently evil, we cannot pretend that pro-abortion politicians have any interest in reducing abortions.  They are in the pockets of Planned Parenthood and other baby-killers.  One can suspect that Georgetown University is, too.  One gets the impression that he's trying to stave off future pro-life efforts; perhaps we are getting under the skins of Georgetown's pro-abortion sugar-daddies.  He can stuff a sock in it.

In a related story, we learn that Georgetown's Law School is urging its students to support not only Planned Parenthood, but NOW, NARAL and a whole host of other pro-aborts and pro-sodomite-perversion organizations.  This news comes courtesy of TFP Student Action (an excellent organization, by the way).  I'd urge you to support this effort of their's.  The article links to Georgetown's "organizations you can support" page.  Not surprisingly, Georgetown took down this page.  HOWEVER, as we all should know, once something's on the internet, it never quite goes away, thanks to web-crawlers.  One such site is wayback.com.  So here is what wayback archived.  Sure enough, there is the "mysteriously" missing page.  In its NARAL blurb, Georgetown explicitly shills for a woman's "right" to murder her helpless baby.  This sheds lots of light on the reasons behind Reese's sniveling.  I shudder to think of what may be happening in Georgetown's hospital: we know of at least one instance where they attempted to euthanize a woman.

Tell me again why they are still called "Catholic"?  Oh yes, lots of money brings that about.

White House Appoints Father Reese To Religious Freedom Commission - Fox To The Hen House

Apparently I missed this two weeks ago, but the White House appointed to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom Father Thomas Reese, the Jesuit who's been at Georgetown ever since Pope Benedict XVI fired him from America magazine (ht - NotAtAll Catholic Reporter).  Follow the link on Reese's name to see just why the White House would think that Reese would represent them well.  He may well have not been their first choice, but Father Robert Drinan has already passed and gone to his eternal reward (whatever that might be).

One might wonder if Reese obtained permission from his Jesuit superiors to accept this position from the Messiah Most Miserable.  Knowing the sorry spiritual condition of the Jesuits, though, his superiors probably approved heartily (assuming he bothered to ask).

I anticipate that Reese will do a stellar job selling the Catholic Church down the river, just like Ken Hackett did at the Vatican.

John Carr To Write For America Rag

Remember John Carr, the recently-retired head of USCCB's Dept of Justice, Peace and Human Development?  That link on his name takes you to posts that highlight his progressive connections and insidious influences.  He's slated to soon befoul Catholic University.

He's extending more progressive entanglements as he has accepted a position with "America" magazine as its Washington correspondent.  You might all recall that one of Pope Benedict's first actions was to purge America of its editor, Fr Thomas Reese, S.J. - you know, the Jesuit who recently opined that "Contraception is a lot cheaper than live births, especially if the live births are problematic."

Actually, this seems rather appropriate - the "marriage made in he_________".  You fill in the blank as you deem appropriate.

Father Reese Plops Another Stinker

This one occurred this past weekend during a "Sunday Speakers Series" session at Holy Trinity Church near Georgetown University.  Both are Jesuit-controlled institutions, so that should tell you a lot.  In it he voiced unabashed support for the HHS contraception mandate.  Here's the whopper, coming from a Catholic priest: "Contraception is a lot cheaper than live births, especially if the live births are problematic."  He sounds a bit like Simon Legree, valuing cash over babies.  One can only imagine the "solution" he might suggest for those "problematic live births".  Apparently all the mercenaries parishioners in the audience clapped and applauded over this.  What can we say?  This is the same bunch that gave Joe Biden a standing ovation during Mass after he made a sacrilegious Holy Communion.

My colleague at A Washington DC Catholic opines that Reese should be defrocked.  (Reese is no stranger to being sacked; recall that one of the first actions of Pope Benedict XVI was to fire Reese as editor of America, the Jesuit rag/magazine).  I agree.  Moreover, so should all the parish priests at Holy Trinity; and perhaps it's high time to place that entire parish under interdict or some other discipline.

The Pontifical Proclamation That Wasn't

Much of the liberal mass media is all atwitter with the "news" that "the Pope is calling for a world central bank"!  Well, not quite!  The document came from a Vatican office, meant as a study.  It bears no weight of authority whatsoever, let alone Magisterial authority.  Phil Lawler has a nice piece on it.  Today's Vortex also treats the topic well.  As you note the sayings, though, of Father Thomas Reese, SJ, recall that he was editor of America magazine, the left-wing "katholyc" rag.  One of the very first things that Pope Benedict XVI did when he assumed the papacy was to remove Father Reese from his editorial position.  Now Father skulks the halls of Georgetown University, where he undoubtedly feels quite at home.  Perhaps that might put Father's strange remarks in perspective.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Gender Confusion Within The Church

No, I'm not referring to gays, "transgender" folk or anything else of the sort, so there's no need for my progressive lurkers to get themselves worked up in a blather.  The true situation, unfortunately, is even more basic than that, as my blogging colleague, "Good Jesuit, Bad Jesuit" makes plain.

It seems that Rev Thomas J. Reese, S.J., erstwhile editor of America (until ousted by Pope Benedict XVI), has stuck both feet into his mouth - and apparently swallowed!  "Good Jesuit, Bad Jesuit" reproduces some of Reese's remarks that he made at a forum on December 5th.  The most insipid of these is, "maybe God knows what she's doing."  That's right!  Father used a female pronoun while referring to God.  As a commenter says, since Jesus referred to the Father as a male, the Church will follow suit.  We must conclude one of the three following regarding Father Reese's remarks.  Either:
  • Father is suffering from extreme gender confusion when it comes to God, or
  • Maybe the "god" that Father worships does present itself as female.  In that case, the "god" is either a figment of Father's imagination or something far more sinister
  • "Good Jesuit, Bad Jesuit" took his information from this National Catholic Reporter article.  Knowing that publication's progressive leanings, perhaps someone at NCR tampered with the transcript of Father's remarks.  If so, though, how is it that no one else at NCR caught such an error?
No wonder Pope Benedict XVI relieved him of his editorial responsibilities at America.  Recall that was one of the Holy Father's first acts during his papacy.  Now Father occupies that dissent-den known as Georgetown University.
