Catholic Standard Follies - Fawning Over Female Catholic Dissidents

In today's edition of the Catholic Standard we read of a panel discussion by three so-called Catholic women "leaders", moderated by John Car, that occurred at Georgetown University.  They were offering advice on leadership.  Given who these women are, one would do well to listen to their advice and do the exact opposite.

Now one might wonder why I'm pointing fingers at the Catholic Standard since it was Georgetown University that hosted this gab-fest.  It's quite simple.  The article is written by Mark Zimmerman, editor of the Standard, and he disingenuously omits key details about these women - details that would make plain to everyone that these gals aren't qualified to advise children in tying their shoelaces much less Catholic leaders in how to lead.  But not to worry!  I and others have already supplied many of these details.  I'll recap below:
  • Sister Carol Keehan - Without her shilling for Obamacare in 2010, that deadly piece of legislation might never have been passed.  As a result, religious sisters are compelled to fund contraception and thousands (if not millions) of babies will have Keehan to thank for their murders.  Besides that, she's got quite a rap sheet.  FYI, when Keehan gave the commencement address at Gonzaga's commencement in June 2010, we were there!
  • Carolyn Woo - She is president of the scandal-ridden Catholic Relief Services.  The Lepanto Institute has exposed much corruption within the organization, such as their direct involvement in the distribution of abortifacients and of retaining as one of their vice presidents a man who is in a same-sex marriage (and quite unabashed about it).  No truly Catholic organization wants to emulate this woman's habits.
  • Sister Donna Markham - See this.  She too jumped on the Obamacare bandwagon in 2010.  She also did a stint as president of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious.  When the Vatican launched its investigation into the LCWR, well, let's just say she had a lapse in memory when it came to her religious vows.
  • John Carr - He comes with his most unimpressive baggage pertaining to his promotion of progressivism while occupying positions within the USCCB.
See, Mark?  This information was not that hard to find; and I think you know that!  Now the million-dollar questions are, "Why did you not report that?  What is the agenda?  Who is dictating the contents of these articles?"

Much of what was uttered at that meeting was pure drivel and a good bit of that was a feeble attempt at "damage control" to try to dismiss the evidence of their malfeasances as reported by this blog and discovered by Lepanto, Church Militant and other organizations.

I will focus on one key admission by Markham as she pouted over the chastisement that Catholic Charities received for accepting government funding.  She mentioned that they receive approximately 64% of their budget from government grants.  Now what are the sources of these "government grants"?  Hint - stare into the mirror and you'll see one source, albeit an unwilling one.  It comes from our tax dollars.  Ladies and gentlemen, when they accept these tax dollars, they accept money that has been extorted from each and every one of us.  The feds have no authority under the US Constitution to engage in this de facto wealth redistribution; they also have no basis in morality to do so, either.  In accepting such funds, Catholic Charities benefits from such extortion and can be said to be contributing to the wrong-doing of the feds.

It can also be said that Catholic Charities is accepting bribes from the feds.  Might this be why they are so quick to jump on board with every progressive effort in which the feds engage?  In the past, Catholic Charities has been known to: allow an employee to take a client for an abortion appointment, conduct "needle exchange programs", take millions of dollars to facilitate illegal immigration, smooching up to pro-aborts in high places, etc.

The Baltimore Catechism teaches us that Jesus Christ founded the Church to help people get to heaven.  Therefore the chief purpose of every endeavor of the Church must be oriented to that end.  Not once in that article did I see the word "heaven" mentioned.  Other words that I failed to notice include "soul", "hell", "sacrament", "eternal life".  You get the drift.

This panel presented a picture on how NOT to lead any Church endeavor.

More Nonsense From The United States Hierarchy In Wake Of Sin-Nod

A few weeks ago we heard that the sin-nod fathers were batting around the idea of decentralizing the Church to place more authority in the hands of national conferences of Catholic bishops.  The world immediately realizes the ramifications for the German Catholics and I pointed out some similarly disastrous possibilities should the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops be imbued with undeserved authority.

Less than two weeks later we see evidence of damage that the USCCB will inflict.  Yesterday the USCCB put out a press release stating that Catholic and Lutheran leaders released a document entitled "Declaration on the Way: Church, Ministry and Eucharist".  I linked to the article and that in turn links to the statement.  It is a long tome.  These Catholics are operating under the delusion that doctrinal differences can be talked away.  What seems to be implicit in the notion of dialog is compromise.  That, of course is impossible.  The Roman Catholic Church has the fullness of truth because it comes from Jesus Christ.  We cannot compromise one iota of that for we cannot tamper with what Jesus has given us.  Yet such compromise is implicit throughout this document.

Yesterday I received news of another incident to occur this coming Monday.  With the sin-nod in the past, the progressives are focusing again on Laudato Si.  The Not-At-All Catholic Reporter announced that Cardinal Maradiaga will be featured at a panel discussion at Georgetown University.  Also featured in this panel will be John Podesta, former Obama official who is now chairing Hillary Clinton's campaign.  This dissent-fest will be moderated by John Carr.  Maradiaga's and Carr's names are hyperlinked for a reason; I've written about them in the past and if you follow the links you'll see why these men are dissenters if not outright heretics.  And yes, Maradiaga is one of the pope's top advisors; the pope has full responsibility for what he allows Maradiaga to utter.

Today I went to Mass at a parish that will remain unnamed.  In the bulletin I saw the above event being announced.  Knowing the priest to be faithful, I've no doubt that the announcement is in his bulletin only because its inclusion was dictated from "on high"; that is, orders came from the DC chancery and probably from the USCCB.  So yes, we are just beginning to see the progressives feeling their oats as a result of the sin-nod.  Those Catholics who are giddy simply because the "sin-nod wasn't all that bad" really need to remove your rose-colored glasses and start praying..

Francis Effect - To Proudly Embrace Worldly Corruption

In this Vortex, Michael Voris rightly decries the accommodation of Church leaders to the immoral and anti-God standards of this world.  It's apparent from the video that at the time of its creation, Church Militant had not yet received word that the Boston KofC council pulled out of the now-defiled Boston St Patrick's Day parade.  Their press release is here.  While the council did the right thing, no one can gainsay that they did so willingly.  They got caught with their hand in the cookie jar and they hate it.  I hope it's because many good Knights threatened to withdraw membership and their membership dues.  I have more discussion below the video.

Voris insinuated that Church leaders, e.g., Dolan, are simply dupes of the worldly powers-that-be.  I for one don't believe they are that innocent.  They did not attain their positions by being dunces.  They knew what they wanted and used some considerable smarts to attain it.  Their "jolly-bumpkin" demeanor is simply an act.  They know they're undermining the faith and betraying their God.  They love their cushy situations more than the souls in their charge - and maybe their own.  Pray for them that they truly convert.

Let us now turn our attentions to this US News article, that talks of the Pope's shakeup of Vatican personnel.  At one time, many Catholics seemed to think that the Pope was just a lovable guy who wouldn't harm a fly, what with his clown-nose and all.  Save for a few pollyannas who persist in wearing rose-colored glasses with respect to the pope, that "aw-shucks!" image has been, well, shucked by the pope himself.  The US News article, in its left-wing way, is quite up front about the "madness behind the method" at the Vatican.

All kinds of Catholic left-wing hacks are quoted.  One of them is John Carr, former head of the USCCB social justice division.  He remarked that "personnel is policy".  I don't agree with Carr on most things, but on this point he is spot-on correct.  Commenting on changes regarding American bishops is another progressive, John Gehring of Faith in Publc Life.  He says, "you are going to see some of these Francis bishops really start to change not just the image of the church but the substance of the church and the direction moving ahead."  As you can see from this unabashed declaration, the progressives, emboldened by Pope Francis, are no longer couching their agendas in nuanced language.  "Change the substance"?  What is the "substance" of the church if not her identity as the Mystical Body of Christ entrusted by Him to save souls by proclaiming His eternal and immutable Truths?  While the pope cannot solemnly proclaim error, much deliberate damage can be done under the guise of being "pastoral".

The article talks of changes at the Congregation for Bishops.  Cardinals Raymond Burke and Justin Rigali were removed from that college.  Burke is a champion of orthodoxy.  In their places he installed Cardinal Wuerl and reaffirmed Cardinal Levada - not champions of orthodoxy.  A third left-winger is cited: Michael Sean Winters, dissident hack at the Not-At-All Catholic Reporter.  Says Winters, "instead of two culture warriors and one non-culture warrior, you have two non-culture warriors as the Americans on that congregation".  These are strange times when I find myself agreeing with these progressives, but it's only because they are "letting down their hair" and admitting who they really are.  When we look at the sick, demented worldly culture that now infests western civilization, is it not evident that we need culture warriors?  Both Wuerl and Levada, like Dolan, openly facilitate the infestation of Holy Mother Church with the poison of secular culture.  And no, they aren't simply being wimps.  Witness the draconian treatment meted out to Father Guarnizo at the behest of Cardinal Wuerl and his underlings at the DC chancery.  They moved with great alacrity and purpose as they threw Father Guarnizo under the bus - draconian, but not wimpy.

The article goes on to state how the Pope ushered in Blaise Cupich as Archbishop of Chicago.  Lauding Cupich's "more civil tone on divisive topics like same-sex marriage and birth control", the author somehow forgets to mention that while Bishop of Spokane, he forbade his priests to participate in the 40 Days for Life campaign.  Apparently the pope also played a direct role in the placement of Robert McElroy as Bishop of San Diego.  My blogging colleague at A Blog For Dallas Area Catholics reports on McElroy's dissidence.

Please read the entire US News article.  We must keep our eyes open and prayers forthcoming.

USCCB Social Justice - Poisonous From Its Beginnings

I stumbled upon two videos featuring Michael Voris.  Apparently they're from a conference in Louisiana that he gave within this past year.  They both deal with the origins of current "social teaching" by the USCCB.  When I said yesterday that the USCCB's prattling was both deadly and corrosive, I didn't realize how correct I was, for these talks show the insidious beginnings and the sinister players in the development of what is mistakenly called "Catholic social teaching" in the United States today.  In fact, it bears little resemblance to actual magisterial pronouncements but are merely progressive talking points dressed up with "catholic" vocabulary to impress the unsuspecting Catholic in the pew. I post both videos below.

John Carr To Write For America Rag

Remember John Carr, the recently-retired head of USCCB's Dept of Justice, Peace and Human Development?  That link on his name takes you to posts that highlight his progressive connections and insidious influences.  He's slated to soon befoul Catholic University.

He's extending more progressive entanglements as he has accepted a position with "America" magazine as its Washington correspondent.  You might all recall that one of Pope Benedict's first actions was to purge America of its editor, Fr Thomas Reese, S.J. - you know, the Jesuit who recently opined that "Contraception is a lot cheaper than live births, especially if the live births are problematic."

Actually, this seems rather appropriate - the "marriage made in he_________".  You fill in the blank as you deem appropriate.

USCCB's Upcoming Catholic Social Ministry Gathering

This year's gabfest is scheduled for Feb 10-13 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.  With John Carr, Ralph McCloud and Mary Wright of Just Faith on the Planning Committee, one can safely assume that the stench of progressivism will drift throughout the meeting halls and workshops.

Among the featured speakers is Mark Shields of PBS.  Of course that means his salary is paid in part by you and me via our tax dollars.  Therefore, is it any wonder that he complained that "no Republican in the House or Senate for 22 years has voted to increase taxes"?  No tax increase, no raise - the poor fella!  But that was in December.  Now he must be breathing sighs of relief after the GOP capitulation over the "fiscal cliff" deal.  In this clip you'll hear him say, "losing their virginity on the issue of tax cuts is an important thing to these Republicans who have not voted to increase taxes...".  Actually, the GOP lost their virtue with the fiscal cliff deal, but I digress.  I certainly hope that such metaphors will not spew forth from Shields' mouth at this USCCB session.  The clip is below the jump break so

Data-Challenged Theories From Catholic University?

Several weeks ago I posted about the problem of Stephen Schneck at Catholic University.  In that post is a video of an interview he gave, spinning some wild yarn claiming that a vote for Obama will reduce abortions.

Jonathan Last of the Weekly Standard attempted to contact Schneck to learn what data supported Schneck's statements.  You can read the account for yourselves.  Long and short - there is no real data.

So what business does Schneck have in running a department at Catholic University?  Looking at the bigger picture of recent events at Catholic University, namely the hiring of John Carr, we can ask what is transpiring at Catholic University in general?  It seems to be devolving into a progressive apologists' haven and forum for promoting socialist ideas.

I know there are still voices of sanity on that campus.  I implore them to wake up and stop this creeping socialist infestation before it gains more ground there.

Refreshing Change At The USCCB?

As I mentioned before, John Carr is leaving his post as Director of the Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development at the USCCB.  As I wrote before, Michelle Boorstein thinks we're worried.  I suspect she's the one who's beside herself at this time.  A few days ago it was announced that Carr's replacement will be Jonathan J. Reyes.  He's a former director of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Denver, who made plain his beliefs that evangelism and Christian charity are inseparable.  Moreover, he's a former vice-president of Christendom College, a traditional Catholic college that has yet to accept one penny of government funding.

Much of the Catholic blogosphere is overjoyed by this appointment.  I'm happy, but my optimism is guarded.  Folks, I just don't trust these nameless bureaucrats at the USCCB.  If they manage to hog-tie Reyes, he won't be their first victim.  Moreover, bear in mind that after January, John Carr will be setting up shop at Catholic University.  Those unfamiliar with the layout of Washington DC probably don't realize that the USCCB offices and Catholic University are within easy walking distance of each other.  Carr could still make his influence felt; the impact of a 25-year tenure doesn't just vanish overnight.

So pardon me for sounding cynical, but I'm not prepared to break out the bubbly just yet.  However,I believe the optimism generated by Reyes' appointment will be justified if:

  • Ralph McCloud, current national director of CCHD (and former campaign treasurer for pro-abort Texan Wendy Davis), is fired and replaced with someone with traditional credentials similar to Reyes's
  • Serious, immediate and palpable reforms are made to the CCHD grant-awarding processes - with transparency
  • Reyes dismantles that Catholic Climate Covenant boondoggle
  • Reyes expels Just Faith from the social concerns offices of all levels of Catholic ecclesiastical structures
  • The mishmosh known as Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship is replaced by a clear, unambiguous document that clearly lays out the necessity of voting for pro-life, pro-traditional-marriage candidates and the sinfulness of voting for a "pro-choice" candidate.
This list of needed reforms is by no means exhaustive.  I'll be happy if he can make steady progress on these.  Who knows?  Maybe I can cease calling for the abolition of the USCCB!

John Carr Retiring From USCCB, Will Eventually Be At CUA

After more than 20 years at the helm of the USCCB's Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development, John Carr is retiring from that position.  I have written extensively on Carr and the mischief wrought (please read that link and all the posts included therein for a full picture of Carr).  Probably the most scandalous of harm done by Carr and the USCCB minions that he supervised (most notably the Catholic Campaign for Human Development) is the funneling of millions of Catholic donations to Alinskyan organizations over the past few decades, including the now-disgraced ACORN.

The Winners Of The 2011 Moloch Awards Are....

First, what are the Moloch Awards?  They are awards given to deserving (?) individuals by the American Life League who have plumbed the depths of serving the demagogues of abortion.  Moloch was a false deity worshipped by ancient peoples.  They did so by sacrificing newborns to it.  We have way too many people today serving in blind obedience to the murderous idol.

Now the American Life League has announced the "winners" of the awards in various categories.  I need not "reinvent the wheel", as it were.  On the ALL page can be found all the "winners".  No doubt there were some tough decisions to be made, as any number of scoundrels could have taken these awards, but there's always next year, I suppose!

Dissent-Fest At Catholic University Of America, May 2-3

Catholic University of America is hosting a conference entitled “120th Anniversary of Rerum Novarum: Church, Labor, and the New Things of the Modern World."  It will be held at the Edward J. Pryzbyla Center from May 2 till May 3.  More details can be found on this CUA page.

What we really have here is another venue from which to plug a progressive, socialistic mindset that masquerades as authentic Catholic social teaching.  It is anything but real teaching.  Let's look at the gang of usual supects that are some of the speakers at this thing.  It is quite eye-opening!

A CCHD / Catholic Health Association Link??

On November 17, I posted about a panel of Catholic women, at which both John Carr and Sister Carol Keehan spoke.  Both of them were whining about "polarization", which is to say they were whining about their double-talk being exposed.  That post of mine had other links containing information about John Carr.  In a nutshell, he is the Executive Director of the USCCB's Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development; this is the office that oversees the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.  Sister Carol Keehan is, of course, the "religious" (?) who violated her vows and sold countless babies and other helpless people down the river when she aided and abetted the passage of the Obama Hell Bill.

Recall a few weeks ago, when there were calls for the USCCB to sever its ties with the Catholic Health Association (of which Keehan is president) because of the latter's influence in the passage of the Hell Bill.  The USCCB demurs - of course.  You may also recall that this blog and other good sources have noticed, amongst the progressives who call themseles Catholic, that there are numerous "sharings" of directors and board members, etc.  Well, one such sordid little tie came to my attention this week, between the Catholic Health Association and the USCCB.  That "connection" has a name - John Carr!  One can see it on Carr's biography on the USCCB's websiteJohn Carr sits on the board of directors of the Catholic Health Association. (A word to the USCCB trolls.  Don't bother to "edit" this incriminating little tidbit.  I cached the page already!)

This may shed some light as to why calls to sever any USCCB/CHA relationship were brushed off by the USCCB.  Remember - John Carr has oversight of the CCHD.  Also recall that we have yet to see the CCHD's 2011 Grantee List.

Catholic Standard Follies - Sister Carol Keehan Whines!

On page 9 of the November 18th edition of the Catholic Standard, we have a report of the November 12th meeting of the National Council of Catholic Women.  This article, by the Catholic News Service, does not yet appear online at the Standard's website.  However, since CNS is national, their articles appear in other diocesan publications, and some of them have it on their websites.  This online article from AmericanCatholic.org is verbatum the same that is at the Standard.  Should the Standard post theirs online, I'll link to that.

The headline is "Reject partisan strife on Church issues, panelist urges Catholic women".  That particular panelist is none other than Sister Carol Keehan - yes the same woman who gave the Obama Hell Bill the final push that garnered it passage in the House of Representatives, selling babies down the river for a cheap pen (and perhaps many more goodies for her Catholic Health Association).

SEIU - Our Heroes! NOT!!!

NOTE - This is a long read, but it is important that you read this to the end.  It is of particular relevance to those living in Montgomery County, MD and to those who are partaking of "social justice" projects of the Archdiocese of Washington, particularly of Just Faith.

When I downloaded the cartoon to the left, I thought it a bit farcical, although the SEIU did display some hints of anti-social behavior at some tea parties and town halls during this past year.

Silly me!  It turns out that the cartoon is really all-too-accurate in depicting the sentiments and actions of these thugs.  On May 16th, the SEIU brought 14 busloads of protestors to the home of Greg Baer, deputy general counsel for corporate law for Bank of America.  They were joined by an outfit called National Political Action that hails from Chicago (kinda makes sense, doesn't it?).  Over 500 of these individuals protested at Baer's home.

Did they confine themselves to the sidewalk?  No!  They were all over his front lawn and even went onto the front porch!  Boys and girls, can we all say "trespassing on private property"?  The only one home at the time was Baer's 14-year-old son.  Needless to say, the poor kid was frightened out of his wits.  Nina Easton is a neighbor of Baer's and a columnist.  She had much to say about the travesty.  As you read her column, take a look at the photo.  Click "read more" for more crucial details.

Open Letter to CCHD and USCCB

The open letter copied below was just now emailed to Ralph McCloud and John Carr
_________________________________________________________________

Open Letter to the Directors and Staff of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development in Particular, and to Those of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops as a Whole
Ladies and gentlemen:
For many years now, monies donated to the CCHD have been funneled to groups that have actively worked to trivialize Church teachings on the life issues (abortion, euthanasia, homosexual behavior, various abuses of embryonic children) in favor of causes favored by left-wing elements in high places (such as supposed “climate change”, “poverty”, “health care reform”,etc). In some cases these groups have allied themselves with those who seek to actively undermine the Church on life-issue matters. Despite any pretenses that you may attempt to offer, you are well aware of our deep grievances with you on these matters. It is no stretch of the imagination to suggest that the election of the most pro-abortion President in the history of this country would not have been possible without the financial backing of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and the recipients of CCHD grants. However, should there still be some in your organization who insist on feigning ignorance, we invite them to peruse the following websites and blogs and to follow their documentation.
http://www.reformcchdnow.com/
www.all.org
http://bellarmineveritasministry.org/
www.catholicmediacoalition.org
and our own http://restore-dc-catholicism.blogspot.com

For years now, concerned Catholics have been pleading with you to stop the funding of these aberrant groups, most notably ACORN. Only when the embezzlement scandal of the Rathke brothers broke (along with voter registration fraud allegations) did the CCHD cease funding of ACORN. However, funding and other support of other anti-God organizations continues.

Recently your support of left-wing organizations took on an offensive and even blasphemous dimension as the CCHD hijacked and attempted to deform the Stations of the Cross to be celebrations of some of these anti-Church outfits. I need not go into the disgusting details in this letter, as they are already exposed on our blog as well as others. Of course you were already aware of that. Hours after the first expose went online, you pulled your so-called “stations” from your website. You did so with no notice nor apology for offense caused, indicating that this removal was just another sorry attempt at damage control.

Happily, though, your attempt was a failure and the profaned “stations” are available for all of the world to see. And what do they see? They see that the USCCB is still supporting organizations whose philosophies and governing members are openly at odds with the Magisterium on the non-negotiable life issues. These “stations”, and their subsequent disingenuous removal adds resolve to many of us as we call upon His Holiness to dissolve the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and in particular, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Should you be interested at all in restoring any shred of goodwill, we urge you to post an unequivocal apology on your website, apologizing for the support of any and all left-wing “community-organizing” outfits, making plain that you will immediately cease any and all types of support for the same. You should then support only those organizations that uphold the Church’s teachings on the life issues and who perform the various Works of Mercy – both Spiritual as well as Corporal.

Please be advised that this letter is open and even now appears on our blog. Any replies from you to us will likewise be posted thereon.

More on Origins of "Carbon Fast" Schtick

The blog "What Does the Prayer Really Say?", in their own posting about the lenten carbon fast, linked to my original posting with the comment by the IPL person.  Some of the comments on that blog doubted the responsibility of the Archdiocese of Washington for its part in this nonsense.

You might have noticed on that blog that I had my own doubts.  However, subsequent circumstances removed those doubts, and I'll now explain them.  Immediately after I published that post, I sent an email to the ADW webmaster to inquire into the matter, seriously thinking that their name was misappropriated.  I instructed my email handler to return to me a "read receipt" when the email was read at the other end.  I sent that email in the evening, and thus was surprised to receive back, within the hour, my read receipt.  The very next morning, at 8:15am, I was notified of the comment from the IPL person.  I could be wrong, but I believe the timing of these two events is too coincidental.  Could it be that the thing was read, certain ADW parties were notified, who then put in a request that the comment be submitted to me?  If that's true, that indicates very close working relations between the ADW and this IPL group.  Even if that's far-fetched, we've seen no repudiation of this "carbon fast" on the ADW website.

Enough of that.  There's another group that has their fingerprints all over this (and all over this as manifested in other dioceses in the US and England).  It's called Catholic Climate Covenant.  Click on that, and the very first thing you see is the accusatory question, "Who's Under YOUR Carbon Footprint?" (emphasis mine).  My!  Aren't we just a bunch of callous slobs!  Well, we must be!  Why?  Because...because..well, they say so!  That's why!  And don't you forget it!

Now watch that movie!  It's hillarious!  According to this sorry excuse of an educational flick, if we drive our cars and run our hot water faucets, we create electrical storms and cause draughts and joblessness!  It's more swallowing of the junk science.  It does mention that we Catholics have the obligation to care for the least among us who have no voice - hold that thought!

Go and see who the coalition members are.  It's the usual gang of suspects: Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services, Leadership Council of Women Religious and - at the top of the list - the USCCB's Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development.  That's headed by - John Carr!  We've heard that name before now, haven't we?

Again, he has also been linked with the Center for Community Change, that has helped fund abortion-promoting organizations.  How is that helping to care for the least among us who have no voice, namely, the unborn who are slaughtered vis-a-vis abortion, to the tune of 4,000 daily?

Regarding the Real Catholic vidoe in the post below regarding the "social justice" scam, this is a prime example of which Voris was speaking.

Yet Another USCCB-CCC Tie!

We've seen lately how the USCCB and its liberal cohorts are trying to tap-dance and belittle the significance of the John Carr situation.  Now Lifesitenews has uncovered yet another CCHD official who is also a CCC official.  Actually, he is a former CCHD associate director, and his name is Tom Chabolla.  In the words of Lifesitenews, "Chabolla joined the board of CCC in 2006, and continues now as a board member. He worked for CCHD until 2008 and now serves as Assistant to the President of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). But he has stayed on with the CCHD, now serving as a “lay consultant” to the bishops' CCHD subcommittee, which oversees the organization."

Now think about that revelation.  From 2006 to 2008, Chabolla occupied high positions in CCHD and CCC at the same time.  He remains with CCC and is now a "lay consultant" to CCHD, meaning he continues to wield influence in both organizations.  Also, for good measure, he occupies an influential role in the SEIU (the townhall thugs!).

The Lifesitenews article mentions that Chabolla is a member of Facebook's group called, "I bet we can find 1,000,000 people who support same sex marriage."  This same fellow is currently a lay consultant to the CCHD!  Read the article for more troubling news about CCC and its advocacy projects.

USCCB Throwing Smoke Screens and Red Herrings

The post below makes plain the real issues with which we're trying to deal in regards to the USCCB and its ties with organziations that are part and parcel of the culture of death.  The John Carr matter is but one sign of the corruption of the USCCB; he attracts our interest, however, because of his high position within the ranks of the USCCB.

Some good people, however, are being hoodwinked into believing that this is "all about John Carr".  One of them appears to be Father Frank Pavone, president of Priests for Life.  Such confusion is displayed by this blog entry of his.  Please read it and leave your own respectful comments; you'll see that others already have.

Tom Peters of American Papist, now CatholicVoteAction.org also seems to have swallowed the koolaid about John Carr being personally attacked.  He states also that (and I quote), "the situation has not been helped, either, by the sensationalist reporting at RealCatholicTV.com, which in a recent report claimed that the allegations of misconduct at the CCHD was what Pope Paul VI was referring to when he warned that the “smoke of Satan has found its way into the Church” … seriously?"  Yes, Tom, seriously.  We are looking at the truth of the matter.  If the subject matter being examined is by nature so scandalous as to render its reporting "sensationalist", well then, so be it.  We take the truth as it is, not as we'd like it to be.  Tom states that "I don't follow RCTV directly but American Catholic does"  But Tom, you're the one commenting about it.  Doesn't it behoove you to look at these videos?  I'm posting the whole series as clips are published.  Please examine them here, or go to RealCatholicTV's youtube page to see their whole collection.  All, I suggest that in this case, also, to please leave comments for Tom at the end of his posting.

Real Catholic TV - Expose on USCCB Scandals - Part Five

The title of this segment is "By Their Fruits You Shall Know Them".  These fruits can be summed up thus: KA-CHING $$$$ !  Please watch.

Michael Voris touches a bit about the "Catholic Social Ministry" meeting scheduled for now at the Hyatt Regency downtown (and I pray that it is snowed out).  That's in the news segment.  Then he opens up the Vortex by opining that the bishops "don't get it".  I disagree slightly.  I think the bishops do "get it", but are merely playing dumb as part of their damage control attempts.  He does, however, expose the duplicity of the bishops as they try to portray our examinations as a personal attack on John Carr.  Voris makes plain that such is not the case.

Check back often, and look at the other blogs to the right-hand side.  Please be sure to consider wisely your decisions regarding the in-pew collections.

USCCB To Host Dissent-Fest in DC This Weekend

In the face of all the revelations of corruption and corrosion within its bowels, the USCCB is hosting its "Catholic Social Gathering" in Washington DC from Feb 7-Feb 10.  It will take place at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill.  The bevy of pro-abortion activists and other dissenters inclue:
  1. Father Thomas Reese, SJ, who the Vatican ordered removed from his post as editor of America magazine for publishing articles that questioned the Church on matters such as abortion, contraception, gay lifestyle, etc.
  2. Diana Hayes, gay rights activist who also espouses liberation theology, women's ordination
  3. Paul Booth, an abortion-rights activist who helped run NOW's Awards Gala.  He is co-chairing a panel discussion at this event.  And who is the other co-chair?  Do you dare to take one wild guess?  Yes indeed it's none other than...
  4. John Carr!  (Surprise!)
Hats off to the Pewsitter for this tip.  Here's the link to the USCCB site announcing this schlop.

As most local DC folks know by now, we're slated to get hit with a 2-foot blizzard this weekend.  It is my fond hope that the storm will cause this thing to be the bust that it deserves to be.  As it is, I cannot call a picket, as the roads will surely be impassible.  However, let's pray that this thing fizzles.
