Walker's Victory (And Ours)

With gratitude to God I greeted the news that Wisconsin's pro-life governor Scott Walker won yesterday's recall election.  He garnered 53% of the vote to Barrett's 46%.  The pro-union and community-organizing types took well-deserved black eyes in this election.

I notice, though, that some of my fellow Catholics were less than pleased by Walker's victory.  For example, there were the 25 Jesuits from Wisconsin that signed the recall petition.  Jesuits?  Well, that explains a lot.  Then there were the four Catholic sisters who must have been twice as convinced as the other petition signers that Walker should go.  I say "twice" because that's how many times each of these "good Sisters" signed the petition.  Naughty-naughty, Sisters!  And shame on all of you for preferring the pro-abortion Barrett over a pro-life governor!

Wisconsin AFL-CIO And Planned Parenthood Hold Joint Rally

I know some of my readers are wondering what does the situation in Wisconsin have to do with morality?  After all, aren't the unions all about worker justice?  Well, that's what they'd like us to believe, and it does seem that the Wisconsin bishops and the USCCB swallowed that tripe "hook, line and sinker".  However, in joining with Planned Parenthood in such an open manner, the AFL-CIO has tipped their hand.  Will the dupes who work with the USCCB and the left-leaning Catholic Conferences now wake up?

I for one don't think the paring of AFL-CIO and Planned Parenthood to be such an "odd couple" combination.  Why, they've lately demonstrated that they have so much in common!  "What is that?", you may ask.  What they have in common is ravenous desire to pick the pockets of the tax-paying citizens.

Vortex Weighs In On Wisconsin Debacle

"It is most decidedly not the case that whatever a union does is somehow sacrosanct and beyond criticism."  That is a truth that Michael Voris makes clear in order to dispel the delusion which the USCCB seems to hold in regard to labor unions - particularly the gang in Wisconsin.  Listen as he makes clear the problems inherent in public-sector unions.

I read the February 24th edition of the Catholic Standard and was once again appalled at the zombie-esque chanting of the liberal/progressive mantras that polluted the pages of a supposedly "Catholic" publication.  Where to begin?  I suppose it doesn't matter, since all this mess has a common theme.

Obama's Intrusion Into Wisconsin Matters - Par For The Course With Him

Some are shocked - just shocked! - that the Messiah Most Miserable is slamming Wisconsin governor Scott Walker as the latter stands up to union thugs.  While I certainly believe Obama's actions to be despicable, I am not surprised in the least.  I thank Breitbart TV for jogging my memory, but Obama, during his presidential campaign (which he never really quit) is simply keeping a promise to his union backers - to "paint the nation purple with SEIU".  Listen to it yourselves.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.



USA Today quoted Obama as saying, “Some of what I’ve heard coming out of Wisconsin where you’re just making it harder for public employees to collectively bargain generally; seems like more of an assault more on unions.  And I think it’s very important for us to understand that public employees, they are our neighbors, they are our friends.”  What the Messiah Most Miserable declines to mention is that these "public employees" draw their salaries and benefits directly from the taxpaying citizens, who themselves are overburdened in these difficult times.  These taxpayers simply have nothing more to give without impoverishing themselves and their own families.  However, the union hacks don't seem to care.  Are not those taxpayers our friends and neighbors, too?

My colleague at Les Femmes commented on this debacle.  In so doing, she links to an article written by a mother who had to deal with striking teachers.  Please read it here, and as you do so, please pay special note to the last paragraph.  These "angry taxpayers" are angry because these union workers are cavalierly asking the citizens to bear yet another crushing load on their already-overburdened backs.  They simply cannot meet unreasonable demands.

I now focus on another, more insidious aspect to all this, and it hearkens back to the video of Obama pandering to union hacks and "community organizers".  Currently, Wisconsin educators are compelled to belong to the Wisconsin Education Association Council.  There are negotiations underway.  According to this Washington Times article, union leaders are focused not so much on pensions and health care for its members, but ensuring that bargaining and forced union dues are kept as they are.  They are completely dismissive of the rights of those teachers who choose not to belong to the WEAC and pay its dues - a portion of which are earmarked for Democrat candidates for office.  That is what Obama means by "painting the nation purple"!  He wants simply to ensure that money continues to flow into Democrat coffers and to please his money sources.

To end this post on a pathetic note, read the pathetic statement put out by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee on February 16th.  The timing of this thing makes plain that this is a reaction to the debacle of teachers striking and Democrat legislators fleeing like cochroaches.  It yammers on and on about the rights of workers to unionize, but absolutely nothing about the rights of workers who choose not to sell their souls and pay exhorbitant funds to causes abhorrent to them.  In times past, I would have said that a document such as this betrays gross naivte about economic realities.  However, I've come to learn that they aren't necessarily lovable doofs.  I see here a not-too-subtle attempt to chide the Wisconsin governor.  Just how much governmental money does that archdiocese receive????

SEIU To Descend Upon Annapolis

You might have heard elsewhere of the debacle in Wisconsin, how both the state Democratic senators and thousands of unionized teachers engaged in dereliction of legal duties.  These progressive snakes are indeed showing their true colors.  Oh, by the way - since it's illegal for teachers to strike in Wisconsin, some doctors there plan to write fake medical excuses for these teachers.  As my blogging colleague at Les Femmes asks, "What kind of care can you expect from liars who are willing to lie and cheat for a political purpose?"

But what does this have to do with Maryland, you might ask?  Well, it seems that the SEIU, to display "solidarity" with their scoff-law sickie Wisconsin teachers, are staging "rallies" across the nation.  Michelle Malkin's website indicates that they'll be in Annapolis this coming Tuesday - at Lawyers' Mall at noon, to be precise.  Oh, joy! 

You might remember SEIU from last summer.  They're the delightful thugs that sent hundreds of stooges to stampede over a banker's front lawn and porch, terrorizing his young son.  I reported on that Chicago-esque gangsta-style behavior here.  Good luck to the Maryland State Police in keeping that hoard of barbarians in check!
