Signs Soon To Be Gone! |
The event did indeed happened. However, its purpose was modified a bit to be more of a celebration of a legal victory, as well as to offer prayer and sidewalk counseling at that place of murder. On Friday, DC public officials reversed their previous stance and admitted that the sidewalk leading up to the Planned Parenthood door, as well as the grassy area, is public property. Lifesite News has more details.
Patrick Mahoney, who was arrested a few months ago for praying there shortly after the fence was erected, had these key things to say - things that all front-line activists (particularly those who erroneously cling to a misinterpretation of "turn the other cheek") need to understand. "If we ignore our rights, you can bet that Planned Parenthood will be more than happy to try to take them away again so that they can continue the unabated abortion of innocent babies," he said. "We must assert our rights not for ourselves, but on behalf of the babies that would surely perish if we were not allowed to make a public stand against the killing.”
Yesterday after I had left the abortuary where I usually can be found, I went down there and recorded what was happening at the moment. Along with the regular folks, there were the prayer supporters for Rev Mahoney, as well as members of Crossroads who ended their cross-country pilgrimage there. While the bulk of the pro-lifers stayed outside the fence, groups of three would go onto the grassy area, with red tape over their mouths with the word "life" on them (much in the mode of Stand True). You will notice that in the video below. (Click here if you can't see embedded video)
There are two other related victories over Planned Parenthood. First, pro-lifers scored yet another victory in regards to the bubble zone at Chicago's Planned Parenthood, when charges were dropped. Second, in response to the outcry of parents, Urban Outfitters stopped online sales of Planned Parenthood condoms.
