ADW - Starting The "Fortnight" On The Wrong Foot

First, I thank Kurt, the commenter on my Fortnight announcement for alerting me to this Archdiocesan gaffe. They are starting off the two-week period with a "celebration" on Sunday June 24th at George Washington University.  Everything Kurt says about GW is true - and then some!

GW is a bastion for progressive brainwashing of young people.  It has a pro-abortion group called "Voices for Choices".  As you look at this website, you'll notice a tab called "clinic escorting".  They actively recruit for the DC-area "clinic escorts", that is, accessories to baby murder.  I am all too aware of their presence at the death mills.  Fortunately they don't seem to stick around; the reality of what they're doing no doubt is a stark contrast to the fables that "Voices" feeds them.

Moreover, GW is the lurking ground for law professer John Banzhaf.  If the name rings a bell, it's because twice last year, he filed two frivolous lawsuits against the Catholic University of America.  Between last October and November, I wrote about a lawsuit he filed ostensibly on behalf of some Muslim students for not having rooms without Catholic symbols so that they could engage in Muslim prayers.  I said "ostensibly" because the students themselves had no interest in this lawsuit; they apparently had the good sense to realize that at a Catholic institution one can expect to find Catholic symbols.  Earlier in June he had filed suit against CU when the latter re-instituted single-sex dorms, claiming discrimination.  In November the DC Human Rights Commission tossed that suit in the junk-heap.

And the Archdiocese wants to pay thousands to George Washington University?  Speaking of Catholic University, don't they have large enough facilities for such a celebration, such as a basket ball stadium?  In these days when institutions like GW have us in their sights, why give them Catholic money?  Why not give it to another Catholic institution, especially one that has had its share of barbs heaved its way?

The ADW should have done better than that.  I pray that they reconsider.

CUA's Single-Sex Dorms: Not Discriminatory

Regarding the frivolous action lodged against Catholic University of America for re-instituting single-sex dorms, the DC Human Rights Commission dismissed that action.  The reasoning is that CUA is not treating the men and women differently in the living situations.  GWU law professor John Banzhaf (who has another nutsu action pending against CUA) was rebuffed.  I guess the Potty Parity Pappa can have himself a Pity Party.

Update/Correction On CUA Lawsuit

A few weeks ago I wrote about the situation at Catholic University of America.  Legal action is being taken against CUA, ostensibly in the name of Muslim students.  In that post, I said that the students were whining about the fact that CUA was simply being Catholic.  After receiving this clarification, I now realize that I was being unfair to the students themselves, as they are not particpating in this action.

The real whiner/snivveler is John Banzhaf, a law professor at George Washington University.  For whatever reason, he has an axe to grind against Catholic University - and perhaps the Catholic Faith in general.  At any rate, CUA's Tower shows some Muslim students repudiating Banzhaf's actions.  One went so far as to say that she "would not want to be represented by a person like Banshaf".

Banzhaf has made quite a name for himself, it seems, by flinging lawsuits about as a flower girl at a wedding tosses petals all over the floor.  Why, according to his own website (such an impeccable source!), he's one of the "100 most powerful people in Washington DC".  He has filed suits against tabacco, has taken "fat" to court and is (be seated for this breathtaking revelation), the Father of Potty Parity!  I'm sure that looks impressive on his resume!  So dreaming up a bogus discrimination lawsuit is right up his ally - never mind that the "victims" that he "wants to protect" really don't want his "help".  But too bad!  If a progressive thinks you are a victim who cannot exist without his assistance, why, you're just too ignorant for your own good and you will be "represented in court" anyway!  I hope there's a halfway intelligent judge in DC who can put this man in his place!

Update On Yesterday's Post Regarding Muslim Students At CUA

From Catholic Vote, we read that a complaint has been lodged with the DC Human Rights Office on behalf of the Muslim students.  To their credit, the students themselves didn't file this.  For that, we can "thank" the same busybody who filed action against CUA when the latter resumed single-sex dorms.  I'm speaking of John Banzhaf, a law professor at George Washington University.  I agree with Catholic Vote that Banzhaf seems to have an axe to grind when it comes to CUA.

What's more ridiculous is that the DC Human Rights Office is actually entertaining this complaint.  And there are still those who scoff at the idea of an impending persecution?  I call upon Catholics to speak out now, and utilize fully your rights as American citizens - before they are taken away from us, little by little.

Catholic University Faces Lawsuit - For Being (Gasp!) Catholic

Last week I heard the news that Catholic University was restoring its policy of housing men and women in separate buildings.  To be honest, my first reaction was "Restored??  I didn't know its dorms had gone coed!"  However, I did welcome the news that a Catholic institution was actually reinforcing some Catholic morality.

Comes now the news that some progressive law professor from George Washington University heard about this and bunched his undies over this announcement.  To be fair to John Banzhaf, the CU move is quite - dare I say it? - politically incorrect!  Banzhaf, on his own website, claims to be such a champion of "equal bathroom access" that he calls himself (drum roll, please)..

FATHER OF POTTY PARITY!

Who can make up this stuff?  I think, for the sake of brevity, we'll call him Poppa-Potty!  At any rate, CU has no concerns about the legality or constitutionality of its decision.  I for one commend CUA president John Garvey for taking this step.
