My blogging colleagues at Les Femmes wrote a little song to commemorate the wreckage that the pope is making of Tradition and the Faith.  They suggested doing the hokey-pokey for a warm-up.  To assist in their efforts, I have concocted a few lyrics of my own to assist in their efforts.  So here it is, to the tune of "Do The Hokey-Pokey".

Vatican's Progressive Mafia Takes Out Another Good Bishop

I join with my blogging colleagues Les Femmes and Tenth Crusade in looking askance upon the forced resignation of Archbishop John Nienstedt as shepherd of Minneapolis/St. Paul.  I suppose we can now ask "who's next?"  We know the long knives are drawn for Archbishop Cordileone.  Or maybe it will be Vasa or Olmsted - or maybe Archbishop Athanasius Schneider or Cardinals Pell, Muller or Brandmuller.

Make no mistake about it.  The progressive mafia (hint: gang of nine and their allies) are mowing them down right and left.

More Muddied Water From The SinNod

The stench and poison emanating from the SinNod is all too obvious, except to those who are obstinate in not taking off their rose-colored glasses and trying to make pious excuses for this debacle.  In the past few days, much commentary has been written.  I will not attempt to regurgitate them but will link to them so that you may read them.  I hope you will; too many still insist on remaining naive and ignorant to the proceedings, perhaps to their eternal peril.

First, I commend to your reading a post from Pat Archibald entitled "The Truth About This Crisis".  And yes, if anything should now be crystal clear, the Church is in deep crisis as many of her shepherds are trying their best to justify their dereliction of duty in teaching about Humanae Vitae and enforcing Church discipline.

Another I'd like to recommend is from my CMC colleague's blog, Les Femmes, as she asks, "What's Wrong With The Synod On The Family".  She in turn is commenting on a piece by Phil Lawler.  We all agree that many fundamental things are wrong with this SinNod.

Father Daniel McCaffrey of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City is a priest who has made it his mission to proclaim the Church's true teachings on contraception.  In an interview given to LifeSiteNews, he stated that the synod will not be successful unless it addresses the failure of the clergy to teach about Humanae Vitae.  He states that unless that happens there will be a "very cold, dark winter ahead of the Church".  I will add that not only is there refusal to address contraception within the Archdiocese of Washington, at least one priest who attempted to do so was flat-out punished.  Within a church in Montgomery County, he offered a class on Humanae Vitae.  When some progressive dissidents had their consciences stung (for they were probably engaged in that mortal sin), they complained to the pastor.  Immediately the priest was forbidden to celebrate public Mass and was transferred to a far-away location.  I can give no further detail for fear of exposing that priest to additional retribution.

Rorate Caeli received a letter from a reader in East Africa.  This reader, a friend of his faithful bishop, relates the horror that this bishop expressed when he read his report on the proceedings of the SinNod so far.  He wept and now fears that his flock will be susceptible to "evangelism" by muslims and evangelicals when they perceive the lack of conviction displayed by so many other bishops.  The identifying information has been redacted, undoubtedly to protect this bishop from Vatican retribution.

LifeSiteNews has other accounts of African bishops defending the family at the SinNod.  It's nice to know that there are some voices of sanity at that shindig.  But consider!  Isn't it incongruous that the family would have to be defended at an ostensibly Catholic synod?  I can understand the need to defend the family at some secular event, such as a United Nations meeting.  After all, we know the UN is hostile to the family and Christianity in general.  But now we should have to defend the family before Catholic bishops - and even the Holy Father?  What is wrong with this picture?

There have been other glimmers of common sense at the SinNod.  Unlike the Piroltas of Australia who promulgated their disgusting heresies a few days ago, there was a couple from Brazil who largely echoed Father McCaffrey's convictions.  Arturo and Hemalinda As Zamberline pointed out to SinNod attendees that large numbers of clergy have flat out ignored the teachings of Humane Vitae.  That's putting it mildly.

Rorate Caeli noted Cardinal Muller's displeasure at the censorship of SinNod proceedings.  The Cardinal stated that "all Christians have the right to be informed about the intervention of their bishops".  LifeSiteNews has his interview.  But let's look on the bright side, shall we?  At least we know that the Vatican Press Office does know how to resolutely exercise control.  Now if they would just apply that same resolve to papal interviews...

There is much more that will be said in the coming week during the second half of the SinNod.  Michael Voris and his Vortex team will be in Rome to report.  I'll post videos as they are made available.  For now, here are some introductory remarks.  In them he does cut through the "keep doctrine, change pastoral practice" crap.

Why I Believe Cupich's Appointment To Chicago Bodes Ill For The Church

As most people know by now, Pope Francis has appointed Spokane's Bishop Blase Cupich as Archbishop of Chicago to succeed the ailing Cardinal George.  This appointment, particularly on the heels of the de facto sacking of Cardinal Burke to the hinterlands, causes much consternation to faithful Catholics.

It was exactly three years ago when Cupich forbade his Spokane priests to participate in the 40 Days for Life Campaign.  I wrote rather extensively about that disgrace.  Moreover, when the Messiah Most Miserable polluted the once-holy grounds of Notre Dame University, he did not join the protests of other US bishops against that debacle.

My friend at Les Femmes reported on what some progressive rags are saying about Cupich.  They are ecstatic.  Given what I wrote above, their glee (from their perspective) has basis.  Now we read how the gay rag, the Advocate, chortles over this appointment.  Ladies and gentlemen, they advocate mortal sin to the detriment of their immortal souls.  Why do you think they gloat?  Because they believe that they have in Cupich someone who won't trouble their consciences with the truth!

There also seems to have been some considerable - how do I say it? - political maneuverings within the Vatican to secure this appointment.  Rorate Caeli believes that Cardinal Oullet and the Congregation for Bishops were sidestepped by Pope Francis at the suggestion of the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States.   Missing from the Congregation of Bishops, of course, is Cardinal Burke - removed by the Pope and replaced by Cardinal Wuerl.  Rocco Palmo of Whispers in the Loggia has key points to ponder (his post is long, but work your way through it).  He seems to think that Cardinal O'Malley and Cardinal Wuerl gave support to Cupich's nomination (I can see them also lobbying to keep Cardinal Burke away from that see).

There have been way too many ominous signs from the Vatican to ignore.  The enemy lies within and his minions wear clerical garb.  While we know that the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church, in this struggle the forces of hell can wreak much havoc and cause the eternal damnation of countless souls.  Pray your Rosaries and beg God's mercy on His wounded Church.

My friend at Les Femmes put up a post last week about how the disaster of the Obamacare website can be attributed to cronyism - that is, give the plum jobs to your friends who've been helpful to you in the past.  But this is just a microcosm of what we should expect from the main rollout - treats for the progressive lackeys and tricks on the rest of America.

Left-Wing Campaign Strategies?

Yes, the Code Pink faction of the Minions Most Mindless is coming to the rescue of their adored Messiah Most Miserable!  They hope that their presidential campaign strategy will save the day for Barack HUSSEIN Obama!  And just what, pray tell, is this innovative, cutting-edge strategy?  (drum roll and trumpets, please!)

(Code Pink's words, not mine!)  "Send Your V to the RNC!"

You can read about it on the redredhead blog, along with "artistic representations".  On the most basic scientific level, these dumb broads don't know the difference between "vulva" and "vagina".  More to the point, they themselves are meting out to women the treatment of which they accused the "male chauvanistic pigs" around 40 years ago.  They're objectifying women (meaning themselves), representing themselves as mere body parts.  My friend at Les Femmes has a very telling photo of some of those pathetic dames.  Is this the end-product of feminism?

With these hare-brained antics, the progressives are letting the world know that liberalism is brain-rot.  If they really think this will help Obama come November, let them carry on in their delusions.  But pray for their repentance, as they are toying with their eternal fates.

Boycott The CCHD Collection!

A number of great articles came across my email today and I was going to post them.  I see that my friend and colleague at Les Femmes beat me to the punch, so I'll just send you over there!  One word about that second article.  The author, Rey Flores, is the former Director of CCHD for the Archdiocese of Chicago.  For having the courage to initiate some real reform of the local granting process, the local liberal cabal orchestrated a campaign to have him fired and to return the local CCHD to its mishandling of donation dollars.  He does write from an insider's perspective and his insights are valuable.

National Catholic Reporter's Editor Dies

Joseph Feuerherd, head of the National Catholic Reporter, passed away from cancer this past week at the age of 48 years.  Other blogs wrote about his passing; I highlight two of them and invite all to do their own comparisons.

The first is from the American Papist blog, and is actually quite a glowy write-up - perhaps overly so.  In it, Mark Stricherz refers to him as a gregarious individual, and commented on the deceased's "commitment to the poor".

To answer the question why I put his "commitment to the poor" in quotes, it's worth taking a look at the second of the two blogs - that of my CMC colleague, Les Femmes.  She points out that Feuerherd placed his erroneous concept of concern for the poor above (or at least on a par with) concern for the thousands of unborn children murdered each day - so much so that he announced his support for Obama during the 2008 campaign.  Need I remind anyone of the immense menace that Obama continues to pose for these truly defenseless amongst us?

It may well be that Feuerherd was a gregarious individual.  So what?  Ted Kennedy was reputed to have an outgoing, afiable personality - and no one disputes how he played in integral role in ensconsing the Culture of Death in the fabric of modern society.  Feuerherd caused similar damage via the dissent and pro-abortion propaganda promulgated through the National Catholic Reporter while he was at its helm.

Stricherz concludes his piece by saying, "Whenever you feel like criticizing someone, just stop to think if you would reach the same conclusion if you met and talked with the person. Charity goes a long way."  Criticizing the person is not the issue; his deeds (and misdeeds) are.  We can, and must, look at and speak honestly of the ways in which Feuerherd et al helped to foster a dangerous culture that wars against its unborn.  It is the complete antithesis of true charity to gloss over the truth, for then we may not be so urgent to pray to God that he have mercy on the soul of Joseph Feuerherd - as well we should.

Gamaliel Foundation Displays Its Double-Talk

Before I begin, I ask you to read the following articles written by my two Catholic Media Coaltion colleagues.  The topic is the Gamaliel Foundation, a progressive organization portraying itself as a "faith-based, community-organizing" outfit.  One of the writers, Stephanie Block, has done an enormous amount of research on these "community-organizing" groups.

Someone, presumably associated with the Gamaliel Foundation, has commented on the two "lesfemmes" posts.  I direct your attention now to the second of the four links above and ask that you study "Gamaliel's" comment carefully.  He starts off with a quote from the bishops in 1986, "No one may deny the right to organize without attacking human dignity itself." 

As I read the four articles, I saw no talk of denying anyone "the right to organize".  What the two authors did was merely make public some facts about Gamaliel that reasonable people would deem to be unsavory.  How does that "deny the right to organize"?

What Gamaliel attempted to do with this statement was to demonize the two authors by trying to ascribe to them malicious motives.  This is quite a common trick of progressives, an employment of the non-sequitur fallacy.  One example of this is found in pro-abortion talking points.  We want to eliminate the murder of babies, so they shriek that "we don't care if women die". 

However, I do suppose we bloggers and writers have denied Gamaliel and his/her bunch several things, to wit:

• The ability to define the terms of conversation about such matters.
• The ability to change definitions of words willy-nilly
• The lack of scrutiny of their own shady sources of funds
• The ability to insinuate progressive/liberal thinking into the Church without challenge

For these so-called "denials" I and my colleagues proclaim "MEA CULPA!

Some Bishops "Strong-Arm" for CCHD Collection - Thus Betraying Its Moral Vacuity

In a recent letter to his priests, Bishop Loverde of the Diocese of Arlington (VA) has ordered his priests to take up the CCHD collection next weekend.  Read the letter carefully.  Note that he speaks in no uncertain terms to his priests about this collection.  He should be so bold and forthright when it come to obedience to Canon 915!

Notice that he also requires no negative commentary.  There is only one reason why he'd be stipulating that - because he must have received plenty of protests from priests who understand how nefarious the CCHD truly is.  Our colleagues at Les Femmes who are located in the Diocese of Arlington have been shedding the light on one particularly problematic recipient of local CCHD funds - Virginians Organized for Interfaith Engagement (VOICE for short).  They have reported on information that links the Fort Hood shooter to a Virginia mosque within the VOICE network.  That same mosque may have been frequented by some of the 9/11 terrorists.  And Bishop Loverde wants "no negative commentary"?

Here is the letter that the bishop mentioned in his directions to his priests.  Note that he really doesn't address the substantive issues that we, Les Femmes and many other are bringing to light.  After reading this, you might want to review the video posted a few days ago from EWTN.

The priests are vowed to obedience to the bishop.  Therefore, they must comply with his instructions, both in what they say and what they do.  However, we laity are free to sound our protests loud and clear, regardless of whether or not prelates regard them as "negative".  The best protest would be a note in that envelope explaining why, in no uncertain terms, CCHD will not receive one red penny of your money.

Boycott the CCHD Collection on Nov 21-22

Despite the promises of the defunding of ACORN, it has been demonstrated that the Catholic Campaign for Human Development will continue to fund similar organizations. Given the very jaded origins of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, I believe that this whole corrupt pseudo-ministry of the USCCB should be dismantled and its remains thrown into the garbage. Our friends at Les Femmes (featured on "my blog list") have put together the following video.

We simply cannot allow our donation dollars to be used to undermine the Church and to spread the Culture of Death. One of the videos suggest the dropping of an acorn in that collection basket. If acorns are not to be found in your area, write a note explaining why you're not contributing to this collection; place it in the CCHD envelope in lieu of money. You may use this template if you wish. Additionally, please make sure that you do contribute to a legitimate Catholic and/or prolife charity.
