We're seeing them in all the stores now - the squiggly light bulbs that are supposed to be so "earth-friendly". Heck, we were even asked to make them part of the "lenten carbon fast"! Never mind that they're filled with mercury - the poisonous substance.
Light bulbs break from time to time. When the incandescent bulbs break, no big deal. When these squggly things break, because of the mercury, it's a big deal!

To My Anonymous Commenter On My Earth Hour Post
Thank you for your remarks, both on the Earth Hour post, and the post calling for Planned Parenthood defunding. Yes, I do have access to IP addresses of those who comment and visit the blog (a common blogger capability), so I know the comments originated from the same computer. I will reply to them together, for together they are quite illustrative of the progressive mindset that has corroded the thinking of so many.
First, when I ask for respect, I do so on behalf of people - human beings. It is they who are created in the image and likeness of God - not dogs, chickens, bunny rabbits, but human beings are invested with that dignity. In fact, God bestowed on us the greatest dignity of sending His Son Jesus, the Second Person of the Trinity, to become true man.
That same respect is not due to actions or ideas that do not conform to God's laws. Thus the "climate change, global warming, carbon footprint" deserves no respect whatsoever. It would all be a silly hoax if there was no "method to the madness" behind it all. I invite all to examine some previous posts, most of them containing links to excellent research.

All that being said, let's bring into consideration your other comment, the one that incorrectly states that "unborn fetuses are far from citizens". Assuming that their parents are citizens, they most certainly are. I believe your intent was to dispute their status as people rather than citizens. If so, mere biology argues for the truth against your erroneous position. Your dismissive, condescending attitude towards these babies - simply because they're little - speaks much of the moral and intellectial vacuity of the so-called "pro-choice" position. You display utter contempt for these little people and then have the chutzpah to chide me for "disrespect" because I expose crackpot ideas for what they are? That's actually quite laughable. Nice try - but no cigar!
By the way - in a previous post, I suggested we call our lights-on hour "Light Up The Night!" I also coughed up a little song that we can all sing, to the tune of "Happy Birthday". Here goes:
Happy Earth Hour to you,
To a very naive crew.
You believe in "carbon footprints".

Anti-Life Underpinnings Of Environmentalism
First, thanks to Breitbart.tv for the heads-up on this.
If you want graphic (and I DO mean graphic!) evidence that the Culture of Death is behind the latest environmental and "going green" fad, then continue.
10:10 is some nutso campaign to cut carbon emissions by 10% per year. Go to their website to see their "lofty" goals. Then, if you have the stomach for it, watch the video below that depicts non-believers in their strange dogma being blown up into bloody puddles. I'm not kidding! This is barbarism beyond words. They even show this happening to children. Again, I warn you, THIS IS GRAPHIC, but it shows just how cheaply they value people's lives. (Click here if you can't see embedded video)
It's far-fetched, you say? Remember James Lee (see my first, second and third posts on him) and the situation at the Discovery Channel building last week? How about Earth Liberation Front - or the Unabomber? Anything that puts human welfare on a par, or even below, anything else in creation is deadly. It is we, mankind, who are created in God's image and likeness.
Let's remember this when we read about "environmental justice committees" in our parishes, or the next time they try to foist a "lenten carbon fast" (put the phrase "lenten carbon fast" in the search box to see relevant posts) down our throats.

Small Dog! Big Carbon Footprint!
Apparently the presidential "first dog" Bo gets his own jet! He and an aide flew ahead of the First Family to Bar Harbor, Maine earlier this week. Read the comments at the end of this account of the canine travels.
Apparently dogs were viewed with disdain by Muhammad and traveling with them was viewed as taboo. In England, there are difficulties with Muslim bus and cab drivers expelling blind passengers who travel with guide dogs because the dogs are held to be "unclean".
I cannot help but have my own suspicions about this. Whom might the Obamas be trying to placate? Even if they're not giving Bo his own jet to satisfy muslim proclivities, it's still unconscionable that the taxpayers must foot the bill for "canine first class" and then be told that we must tighten our own belts to boot.
