Bishop Athanasius Schneider To Speak In Archdiocese Of Washington Saturday Feb 14th

During the past few months I've written a bit on Bishop Athanasius Schneider.  He, along with Cardinal Burke and others, has done the Church an immense service by shedding the light on some of the pig slop that oozed from the sin-nod last October.

For that reason I was delighted to read in Rorate Caeli that Bishop Schneider will be speaking in the Archdiocese of Washington this coming Saturday at 2pm.  He will be at Annunciation Church located at 3810 Massachusetts Avenue NW in Washington DC.  The topic of his talk will be "Some Aspects of the Renewal of the Church and Its Liturgy".

Bishop Athanasius Schneider Defends The SSPX

The narration that you will hear in this clip is the text of a letter by Bishop Athanasius Schneider.  These are his first remarks on the situation with the SSPX and how they relate to the crisis of the Church in general.  He too acknowledges that the SSPX is performing a vital service to Holy Mother Church despite attempts by Vatican officials and even the pope to derail them.

Bishop Athanasius Schneider Telling The Truth About Church's Problems

Bishop Athanasius Schneider, Bishop of Astana, Kazakhstan, gave an interview while paying a visit to England.  He had much to say about the current crisis in the Church - and he is correct.  Rorate Caeli has a text of the full interview.

He states that "the real crisis of the Church is anthropocentrism", that is, man putting himself as center of the church rather than acknowledging the Christocentric nature of the Church.  For this he decries the reception of Holy Communion in the hand.

I won't go into a full analysis now.  Suffice it to say it's well worth your time.  Pray for him and the few who are like him.  We need fearless shepherds now more than ever.

Cardinal Burke And Bishop Schneider On Resisting The Rot Within The Church

Courtesy of LifeSiteNews, we have videos of both prelates offering their wisdom on the need to resist errors from Church hierarchy.  A few weeks ago, Cardinal Burke gave a presentation at the Rome Life Forum in Rome, speaking on the need to resist those in the Church who expound false teaching on marriage, family and sacraments.  In the video we hear him declare "for example, today in the Church, there are those who refer to the objective reality of the grace of marriage as merely an ideal to which we more or less seek to conform ourselves."  Without specifically mentioning "amoralis lamentia", he was clearly contradicting the falsehoods stated throughout that thing that clearly utilized the language of marriage being merely an "ideal".  Here is a link to the full talk, with video, on the Voice of the Family site.  I urge all to read it.

Bishop Athanasius Schneider was also at the Rome Life Forum and was interviewed by LifeSiteNews.  One question that LSN asked him is whether or not faithful Catholics should remain silent in the face of the pope's controversial - and yes, erroneous - statements to prevent possible harm to the papacy.  Bishop Schneider replied in the negative, stating that the Church is not a dictatorship, where the subjects are afraid to contradict the dictator.  He also spoke at the conference, stating that "there can be no joy of love without first the joy of truth".  He used his play on the English translation of the flawed encyclical to point out its many flaws.

John Smeaton, co-founder of Voice of the Family, also addressed the forum.  He enunciated the need for a Catholic resistance movement.  In his talk, he read aloud his letter to Pope Francis that asked the pope to immediately withdraw "amoralis lamentia" for the harm contained therein.

An another interview that he gave, Cardinal Burke spoke of the pressures that many priests will now face in the light of "amoris lamentia", to give Holy Communion to known adulterers.  He stated that these clergy will have the duty to "refuse and pay the consquences".  He went on to say that for them, "being unjustly punished by a superior is part of confessing the faith".  Those of the Archdiocese of Washington, particularly of St John Neumann Church in Gaithersburg MD will recall what happened over four years ago, when Father Marcel Guarnizo refused Holy Communion to a flagrant lesbian and was maltreated by the DC chancery.  Other priests have likewise been persecuted; their number is sure to mount.

In addition to prayer and maintaining our own fidelity to Our Lord, we must speak out when we see error, as Bishop Schneider reminded us.  Yesterday the pope gave us yet another occasion to do so, during his interview with La Croix.  In it, he equates the muslim doctrine of jihad with the Great Commission given by Our Lord to the Twelve to "make disciples of all nations".  To equate the murderous impulses of a barbarian cult to the command of Our Lord Himself is nothing short of blasphemy.  Let's call it what it is.  I now link to an extensive article found in the Remnant, discussing when and how a heretical pontiff could be deposed.  I pray to God it never comes to this.

Today Church Militant gave a great example of Catholic laity engaging in proper Catholic resistance.  Bishop Hanchon, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Detroit, presided at a confirmation at Assumption Grotto.  For reasons incomprehensible to decent, sane Catholics, the bishop decided to give a ukulele performance from the pulpit.  The resistance came from the organist, who played so as to drown him out.  Church Militant has video of the episode.  While it's sickening to see a bishop carry on like an adolescent, it was quite delightful to see that he didn't get away with it.

So how will we resist in our own locales?  Notice the question is "how", not "if".  If we haven't yet, let's start pondering these matters seriously.

Bishop Schneider's Talk Today In DC Archdiocese

Washington DC.  It was quite a turnout to hear His Excellency, as well there should have been.  Many thanks are due to both the Paulus Institute and the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) for organizing this event.  At this talk, copies of Bishop Schneider's book, Dominus Est, were on sale.  I procured a copy.  The book is his reflections on Holy Communion; his talk today dealt with the topic of Holy Communion and the Mass.

Please pray for Bishop Schneider and all those who hold fast to the teachings of Jesus Christ, that they'll stand fast against the onslaught of the progressives in high places, even at the top of the Vatican.

Archbishop Vigano And Bishop Schneider Stand With Bishop Strickland

Bishop Strickland made a statement regarding the news of the Vatican's desire for his resignation.  He acknowledged the pope's right to remove him from his post.  However, he says that he will not resign, thus running from the charge given to him by Pope Benedict.  I for one support Strickland's stance.  If the pope wants Strickland out, he will have to get ugly about it.

Bishop Athanasius Schneider sent to Bishop Strickland a very supportive letter, and it was shared by LifeSiteNews.  In that letter, Schneider told Strickland that future popes would thank Strickland for his fidelity to Christ's teachings.  Likewise, Archbishop Vigano communicated his thoughts to Strickland, encouraging him to continue his course and not quit his post voluntarily.  We await communications from other prelates.  Surely Schneider and Vigano cannot be the only ones who, like Strickland, understand what it truly means to be a bishop.

So what will be Francis' next move?  Whatever it is, it will have to wait.  It seems that Francis is going to address the Clinton Foundation on September 18.  This will take the form of a "special conversation" with Bill Clinton regarding favorite pet causes of the progressives, such as "climate change" and unbridled amnesty for border-crashers.  Other attendees of this conference include Hillary and Chelsea Clinton, some of our less-than-favorite left-wing governors such as the ones from California, Maryland, Illinois, Michigan.  Among others, there is a representative from an outfit called "Black Trans Liberation".  Now take a look at this guy.  Would you want to meet him in a dark alley?

Somehow when Francis chats with Bill Clinton, I suspect that he won't be calling the Clintons and the rest of that cabal to repentance for their promotion of baby-slaughter and sexual perversions.  I expect that conversation to be all happy-clappy with mutual praise and admiration flowing ad nauseum. 

Understand the reason why Francis is only too happy to chat with a pro-abortion left-wing cabal while drawing long knives upon faithful clergy.  He and the ilk led by George Soros, Klaus Schwab, Bill Gates, etc are in cahoots with each other.  Faithful prelates stand in their way because the leftwing agenda is at complete odds with the teachings of Our Lord.  Not only do the progressives consider bishops like Joseph Strickland to be fair game, but the bulls-eyes are trained on us as well.  We need to acknowledge that.

Cardinal Burke And Archbishop Schneider Warn Of Evils Underlying SinNod Debacle

Cardinal Raymond Burke, now Patron of the Order of Malta, gave an interview to Breitbart News this past Tuesday November 4.  In it he stated that the Church risks schism if bishops are seen as going contrary to the Church's teachings in the month ahead.  No doubt exists in my mind that he is speaking of Cardinals Kasper, Marx, Baldiserri and others who seek to change the Church's teachings on marriage and Holy Communion to a horrible deformation of Christ's authentic commands.  He warned of trying to accommodate the faith to the culture.

By the way - I've reason to believe that Cardinal Kasper will be exercising strong influence over the USCCB meeting that starts tomorrow in Baltimore.  Since he was in the area last Thursday, he may well even be at the meeting - or at least orchestrating things from the background.

The next day Archbishop Athanasius Schneider also gave an interview, echoing many of Burke's concerns.  Rorate Caeli has the entire text of the interview.  He state that during the SinNod there were moments of obvious manipulation and that "the interim report was clearly a prefabricated text with no reference to actual statement of the synod fathers".  I mentioned that in earlier posts.  Consider.  If indeed the SinNod puppet-masters put forth a prefabricated document while holding it out to be a reflection of deliberations that just happened, they were in fact lying to the Church at large.  There's no way to put lipstick on that pig.  Since the pope hand-picked those extra men (including Cardinal Wuerl) to the committee to compose that report, is it not logical to deduce that if the report was prefabricated that happened with the pope's approval if not initiation?

Schneider then called those paragraphs on divorced/remarried people and homosexuality as stemming from a "radical neo-pagan ideology".  He stated that the interim report will remain "a black mark which has stained the honor of the Apostolic See".  While he praises the final report, he also expresses concern that the paragraphs remain in the final report.  I've no doubt that this is being done to keep those topics "on the table" for next year's ordinary synod.

I'd urge study of the remarks of both these men.  Pray for them as well as the Church.  Cardinal Burke has already tasted vengeance for speaking the truth.  Will similar fates await Scheider, Muller, Pell and others?  We will be watching.

Correcting Abuses Of Vatican II

A little clarification on this post title is in order.  I do not mean that the Council itself was abusive.  I am saying that the proceeds of the Council, good in and of themselves, have been abused by progressives who have corrupted then co-opted them to their own nefarious ends.

Bishop Athanasius Schneider is addressing these matters head-on.  The translation of Schneider's statements, mentioned in this Vortex, is here.  As you listen to Voris speak of Liberation Theology being thinly disguised Marxism, think back to yesterday's vote in the House, and the USCCB's reaction to the prospect of Obama Hell Scare being repealed.  Why else would the USCCB want to keep that draconian Obamacare mess on the books?  Guadium et Spec speaks against such attitudes.  If you wish, this blog does link to the Vatican website on the right bar.  Voris also states that the Pope, along with bishops in communion with him, are the only authentic interpreters of Church teaching - not the USCCB, nor RCIA, etc.  So again, what business did the USCCB have in prattling about firearm ownership by citizens?

Bishop Schneider Stands Tall In Stark Contrast To British Bishops

Two days ago I posted on an interview given by Bishop Athanasius Schneider while in England.  If you haven't read it yet, please do so.

He stated that the Church is facing a new paganism in which many priests and bishops are participating.  He also decried the attempts to change Church teaching about sexuality and the Sixth Commandment.  One might opine that he made those remarks in England for good reason.

LifeSiteNews reports that the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales is compiling a document entitled Applying Equality Law in Practice: Guidance for Catholics and Catholic Organizations.  In this draft we read this statement that urges formal and material cooperation with mortal sin: "Transsexual people face many difficulties before, during and after transitioning to another gender. As such it is recommended to seek guidance on how to make the transitional process as easy as possible. This could include training for co-workers, as well as reference to medical and social advice."

Shall we pick this apart?

• No one will be "transitioning to another gender".  That is a pipe dream.  They will always be the male or female that they were at the beginning, albeit with mutilated bodies.
• No Catholic should "make the transition as easy as possible".  In doing so, they would be facilitating the mortal sin of another and committing their own mortal sin.  They would be endangering their own souls and the souls whom they pretend to help.
• What any decent Catholic should do in that case is to dissuade any such individual from committing such a heinous act against themselves.  Get them some real spiritual help (I wouldn't advise resorting to any of these bishops).

If this document of the British bishops isn't an example of clergy participating in the new paganism, what is?

A Matter Of Hearts

Last Friday a diocese in Argentina conducted a virtual "Community Spirituality Course".  Right away it sounds like a hoot. Anyway, Pope Francis sent a video message to them.  It was brief, very brief, uncharacteristically brief - and that was probably a good thing.  I quote, "I ask you to let your heart beat, nothing else."

Pardon my french, but what the hell does that mean??  Does it mean that the pope was simply too tapped out of bovine excretement to cough up something more verbose and convoluted?  I guess for that we should be grateful.  But why does any living person have to let their heart beat?  It will beat until the day we meet God in our particular judgments.  It also says absolutely nothing about Our Lord or the Faith, which actually says quite a bit about the derth of worth in that "spirituality course".

On the other hand, Bishop Athanasius Schneider has initiated an "International Crusade of Eucharistic Reparation", to atone for sins against the Blessed Sacrament.  Those kinds of sins have always abounded, but during this covid thing, bishops and priests have actually multiplied those outrages by mandating Holy Communion in the hand, denying the Sacraments to the faithful, etc.  One of his chief aims, and it should be ours', is to make reparation to His Sacred Heart that has been outraged by these sacrileges.  If there's any "heart" that should be at the center of our attention, it would be Jesus' Sacred Heart.  Please read that link for practical actions to participate in this crusade.

But turning our gaze again to Argentina, they are doing the exact opposite.  At least Bishop Eduardo Maria Taussig ordered Catholics in his largely conservative diocese to receive Holy Communion in the hand.  When priests and faculty at his diocesan seminary objected to the orders to commit sacrilege, he closed his own seminary.  The pope approved his actions.  Just what kind of "heart" does the pope think is beating in Argentina?

Again, seriously consider Bishop Schneider's crusade.

Amoris Laetitia Or The One True Faith - Each Catholic Must Choose

A few weeks ago I wrote how Cardinal Farrell knotted his knickers because Archbishop Chaput had the audacity to act like a real bishop.  The latter issued guidelines for Catholics in his own diocese, telling his flock that Church Tradition took precedence over Amoralis Lamentia.  Now it seems like Farrell will soon be taking pot-shots at Archbishop Sample for doing the same thing.  Sample's clear and accurate statement "accepting an erroneous judgment of conscience is neither mercy nor charity" will not sit well with Farrell and the others who hope to exploit ambiguity so that God's teachings may be undermined.

Thankfully we do see an increasing number of those who are standing with the four cardinals in approval and support of the dubia.  A number of churchmen issued an open "Letter of Support Of The Four Cardinals From Catholic Academics And Pastors".  Church Militant TV interviewed Dr. Joseph Shaw, one of the signers of that letter.  When asked whether or not he believes schism is brewing, he replied, "it seems appropriate to use the language of schism."

He was commenting on a statement made earlier by Bishop Athanasius Schneider.  When asked if the pope's silence in regards to the dubia increases the risk of schism, he replied that "a certain type of schism already exists in the Church."  In a meeting this past Monday he remarked, "the reaction to the dubia is a proof of the climate in which we actually live in the Church right now.  We live in a climate of threats and of denial of dialogue towards a specific group."  Of course that specific group is those who faithfully adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ despite the rubbish found in Amoralis Lamentia and other progressive flim-flam.  At that Monday meeting, also in attendance were Cardinals Burke and Brandmuller, two of the four cardinals; Bishop Schneider chaired it.  Amoralis Lamentia was discussed, as well as courses of action to be taken.

Professor Roberto de Mattei, also in attendance, stated that "it is important to comprehend that today there is a clear choice between fidelity to the Church, to the perennnial Magisterium, or infidelity, which means errors, heresy and apostacy."  He has taken his stand with the four cardinals against the mess found in Amoralis Lamentia.  Each and every Catholic faces that choice, like it or not.  Ora et labora.

Storm Clouds Gather In Preparation For October's Sin-Nod

As we saw last week, Archbishop Cupich was appointed delegate to next October's sin-nod almost immediately after he twisted Catholic moral teaching about in his statement that abortion was no more of an evil than capital punishment.  Most Catholics with at least two working brain cells know that while abortion is always intrinsically evil (and thus a mortal sin), capital punishment is not so and in fact can be morally licit.  My intention is not to reignite that debate in my com-boxes but to illustrate how Cupich prostituted his high office to push a progressive agenda.  I suspect that qualified him immediately as a delegate in the eyes of the sin-nod perpetrators, so off he'll go to the Vatican come October.  But there are more storm clouds.

Recall the "shadow synod" that happened last May.  I suppose they believe that it was such a rousing success that they want to repeat the damage benefit.  Who is a papal adviser that is invited to that?  Why, it's none other than Cardinal Maradiaga (ht to Lifesitenews)!  You've seen enough of Maradiaga's name on this blog, as well as a rundown on the mischief he's wrought in the Church (to date).  Read the Lifesitenews piece for the rundown on the other heretics who will be spreading their bile at that meeting in hopes of poisoning influencing the sin-nod.

Many good people are sounding alarms.  The Instrumentum Laboris for the sin-nod is out, and Voice of the Family finds within it reasons for grave concern.  As you read it, go all the way to the bottom where Voice of the Family states that we faithful Catholics "have a duty to oppose the direction being taken at the synod".  Bishop Athanasius Schneider has also sounded an alarm regarding the working document, saying "one is left with the suspicion that the authors of the Instrumentum Laboris try to push forward the agenda of a certain clerical pressure group in order to change the Divine law of the non-admission of divorced and remarried to Holy Communion."

The battle lines are being drawn.  I thank the Lord for courageous prelates like Bishop Schneider.  Pray for him and his fellow faithful priests and bishops, that they be protected from those who wish harm upon them.  Pray also for those who carry on like wolves in sheep's clothing for theirs' will be a horrible punishment if they don't repent.

Amoris Laetitia And Dubia - Separating Wheat From Chaff

Slowly but surely the Dubia that the four cardinals submitted to Pope Francis is bringing a lot of dissent and heresy to light.  The head of the Greek Bishops' Conference (I won't even attempt that name) wrote to the four cardinals and flat out accused them of heresy.  One Peter Five has the text of the letter, and it is a beeyute!  He opens the letter by stating that the four cardinals should turn in their red caps (I don't know the proper term) and then accuses them of heresy, apostacy and scandal.  One wonders if he actually read the dubia, for all it does is ask the pope to clarify some passages in Amoris Laetitia that seem to contradict the tradition of the Church.  Or maybe he did read them and is simply trying to frighten others into not considering their input.

Cardinal Cupich seems to be mouthing similar things - almost as if they were all given "talking points".  I have written about the sword-crossing between him and Archbishop Chaput when the latter reaffirmed Church teaching in his own diocese.  In an interview, he told Edward Pentin that those who have "doubts and questions" regarding Amoralis Lamentia need "conversion in their lives".  I and others have written extensively about Cupich's dissidence many times.  Please read that list for yourselves for I haven't time nor space to detail just why Cupich may be the one needed conversion.

One wonders if that head of the Greek Bishops' Conference might have such strong words for his German counterpart.  Archbishop Robert Zollitsch openly declared his belief that "Christ did not die for the sins of the people as if God had provided a sacrificial offering, like a scapegoat."  He believes that Jesus only offered "solidarity with the poor."  Now that is heresy.  Will the Greek head say anything about that?  Will the Pope have a rebuke for this heresy-spouting bishop?  I think we'll hear crickets and Zollitsch will retain his post.

However, it does seem that the four cardinals are not standing alone.  Polish Bishop Josef Wrobel says "the four cardinals did well in asking for clarification about Amoris Laetitia".  He added that AL "is not written well".  He offered that as a potential excuse reason for its lack of clarity.

Two American bishops share the same last name: Tobin.  That's about all they share.  Bishop Thomas Tobin of Rhode Island opined last July that AL was "marked by ambiguity and that's intentional on the Holy Father's part, I think...so people can do just about whatever they want."  This bishop has consistently stood for the truth.  On the other hand we have Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Indianapolis.  In the previous link I detailed some issues we've had with him.  He called the four cardinals "troublesome".  Well, it might actually be a good thing to be regarded as "troublesome" to a progressive.  We know now why Joseph Tobin received his red hat!

Bishop Athanasius Schneider published a letter in which he defended the dubia and the four cardinals as a "prophetic voice."  In his letter, Schneider takes aim at the progressive syncophants who lobbed ad hominem attacks at the four cardinals without offering any real clarity, comparing the current situation to that of St Hilary of Poitiers and Pope Liberius.  The letter is worth careful study.

Then there is Bishop Jan Watroba, also of Poland.  He remarked on the ambiguity of AL, saying that he "preferred the clarity of Pope St. John Paul II".  I pray that these three bishops retain their posts and aren't sent to "diocesan siberia", if you get the drift.  I also pray that many more bishops join them to stand for the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Francis' Apostacy Is Blatant And In Our Faces

Yesterday on the World Over, Raymond Arroyo interviewed Bishop Athanasius Schneider.  That portion of the program begins at the 31:00 mark on the clip below.   When asked about the Pope's heretical statement last week, namely the heresy of indifferentism uttered in Singapore, His Excellency stated, "regrettably, Pope Francis contradicts the First Commandment of God and the entire Gospel."  When Arroyo asked him how Catholics should process what happened, the bishop replied that Peter, the first Vicar of Christ, denied Jesus three times.  What came to my mind was Peter's almost immediate repentance and the fact that these sorts of antics were far from habitual for Peter.

The bishop then stated that we must pray that Francis repents and then proclaim that there is no other name but Jesus' name, by which we can be saved.

Likewise, Archbishop Vigano released his own statement that condemned Francis' words.  An excerpt is published at LifeSiteNews.  He reiterated that the Church is the "only arc of salvation", and that "to deny this truth is to apostatize from the Faith and to trample on the Cross".

Coming From The Rubble Of The Referendum

News is coming forth of some Irish clergy who are raising their voices in defense of the Church's teachings regarding life in the wake of the referendum debacle.  Bishop Kevin Doran of Elphin said that Catholics who voted for the repeal while knowing that it would result in abortion being unleashed in Ireland should take their vote to confession.  He stopped short of telling such errant Catholics that they should not receive Holy Communion until they do.  That last waffling was to his discredit.  Now I presume that the ballots are secret, but if any Catholics in his diocese were flagrant in their disregard for the laws of God, I pray that he would have the decency to obey Canon 915 and deny Holy Communion to them until they repent of the public evil they committed.

Northern Ireland was not impacted by last week's vote, although the pro-aborts have that area in their crosshairs.  One Northern Irish priest laid down the law to a couple in his parish that advocate for abortion.  Father Damien Quigley of the Diocese of Armagh told the couple that they'd need to discuss their advocacy with him before he allowed them to be married in his church.  He relayed this message to the couple privately, so one has to imagine that the couple themselves leaked the matter to the public.  They are behaving in much the same way as did Barbara Johnson did six years ago in my parish when Father Marcel Guarnizo denied Holy Communion to her since she was openly engaged in a lesbian relationship.  Now the question remains if the Bishop of Armagh will through Father Quigley under the bus as did Cardinal Wuerl to Father Guarnizo.

In the early days of the pandemic shutdown (spring of 2020), all the Catholic churches in the area were locked.  No one could go to Mass in person and no one could receive actual Holy Communion.  This was by order of the bishops, an order that actually exceeded the already-draconian measures demanded by the governments.  Only the SSPX offered in-person Mass, with the opportunity to physically receive Holy Communion.  Mind you, these were the "parking lot" Masses where we had to remain in our cars, but at least we were present for Mass and could receive Our Lord.  I had to drive 2-3 hours each way, but it was well worth the time and effort.  Without the SSPX I and others would have been starved of the Eucharist.  If things ever get nutty again, I will attend SSPX masses in a heartbeat.

Now for the LifeSite piece, and I especially recommend this to those who insist on claiming that the SSPX is schismatic and that I and others are guilty of schism or other such nonsense.

The Weaponization Of Excommunication - Who Should Be Excommunicated?

In the Diocese of Chur (?) in Switzerland, the local bishop will not discipline three parishioners gave Consecrated Hosts, that is, Our Lord Himself, to their dogs.  The bishop's name is Joseph Vonamane, and has instructed his priests not to condemn LGBTQ behavior.  The 1983 code of canon law attaches automatic excommunication to certain offenses, among them being desecration of the Holy Eucharist.

In the LifeSite News clip, Westin quotes the bishop as excusing those parishioners for they "did not act with sacrilegious intent".  So everything is just hunky-dorry over in Switzerland, right?  Well, hold that thought as we consider another situation where the excommunication sword is most definitely being rattled in iss scabbard.

As most of us know by now, the Society of St Pius X (SSPX) will consecrate new bishops to relieve their aging bishops.  They do not have an official papal mandate to do so, despite their attempts to obtain one.  The Vatican has thus far remained obdurate.  Many are puzzled by this strong-arming from the Vatican.  I am not.  Ladies and gentlemen, the SSPX, owing to their fidelity to traditional liturgy and Sacred Tradition, remind the current pope and his aficionados of the sinfulness of their own disregard for the Deposit of Faith.  The SSPX, by their very existence, rightly rebukes the progressives who are attempting to destroy the Church from within.  They want the destruction of the SSPX.  That is why they won't approves of the ordination of SSPX bishops.  

Faithful Catholics have been pointing out the utter folly of denying permission to the SSPX for the ordination of those bishops.  I will not rehash what they say here, but recommend them to your reading.  My blogging colleague at Les Femmes makes the point that supplied jurisdiction can and often does override strict adherence to official jurisdiction.  She cited examples such as English priests ministering to the faithful under the reign of Elizabeth I.  Maike Hickson points out that it is the Vatican's tinkering with Tradition that is the true cause of disunity, not the SSPX's attempts to preserve Tradition.

Rorate Caeli published a piece authored by the Canon of Shaftesbury that explained why the proposed excommunication of the SSPX simply doesn't pass canonical muster.  I will quote one key passage: "Furthermore, for a canonical act to constitute schism, there must be a positive will to separate from the Roman Pontiff or to refuse submission to his authority (cf. Canon 751). This is an essential element of the offense, not merely an aggravating circumstance. Bishop Athanasius Schneider and other reputable canonists have argued persuasively that the SSPX lacks this intent entirely. The Society professes full submission to the Roman Pontiff, accepts his doctrinal primacy, and explicitly does not seek to establish a parallel hierarchical jurisdiction."

Pope Leo!  Listen up!

The SSPX has repeatedly stated that they have no positive will to separate from Rome.  Even Rome itself does not dispute that.  Now let's go back to the situation broached in my first two paragraphs, where parishioners literally tossed Our Lord to their dogs.  The Code of 1983 (linked in my first paragraph) lists as one of the acts that can incur automatic excommunication the desecration of the Eucharist.  That did happen, yet the local bishop refuses to act because they "lacked sacrilegious intent".  So if the errant parishioners are being cut some slack because of their lack of malicious intent, why is such courtesy being denied to the SSPX?  Boys and girls, can we say "hypocrisy" and "double standards"?

Let's look at Pope Leo himself and his visit to the Mosque of Algiers last month.  Upon entering, he removed his shoes and expressed "gratitude for being in a place that represents the space proper to God".  It should be noted that others inside that room kept their shoes on.  Recall also that last October, the pope gave a "prayer room" to Muslins inside the Vatican.  He facilitated prayer to an idol at best, and perhaps a demon itself.

Now go back to that list of excommunicable offenses.  I see "apostates, heretics and schismatics" listed therein.  Is the pope himself excommunicated?

Noted Catholic Leaders Publicly Contradict The Human Fraternity Document

Last Thursday I asked if the "human fraternity" document shows Francis to be an anti-pope.  Several leading prelates and philosophers seem to answer in the positive.

Cardinal Gerhard Mueller, former prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, issued a "Manifesto of Faith"; the National Catholic Register article has the entire document toward the bottom of its article.  He makes plain that Christianity is the true religion and no other religion can be considered to be on a par with the Faith that Jesus Christ Himself teaches through the One True Church.  It is the shepherds' task to guide the people, through the Church, to eternal salvation.

Bishop Athanasius Schneider said many of the same things in his own document, "The Gift of Filial Adoption - The Christian Faith: The Valid and Only God-Willed Religion".  He too emphasizes that Christianity is the One True Faith for it was instituted by God Himself.

Taking a none-too-veiled dig at two pet-causes of progressives, namely "climate change" and uncontrolled "immigration, he says, "The most urgent task of the Church in our time is to care about the change of the spiritual climate and about the spiritual migration, namely that the climate of non-belief in Jesus Christ, the climate of the rejection of the kingship of Christ, be changed into the climate of explicit faith in Jesus Christ, of the acceptance of His kingship, and that men may migrate from the misery of the spiritual slavery of unbelief into the happiness of being sons of God and from a life of sin into the state of sanctifying grace. These are the migrants about whom we must care urgently."

Where these two prelates addressed the heresies of the "human fraternity" document without naming either the document or Francis, Professor Josef Seifert names both in his "Grave Concerns About Pope Francis' Abu Dhabi Document".  He too condemns the notion that God willed "plurality of religions", stating that the pope rejected Christianity by signing onto that heretical statements in that document.  At the end of his statement, Seifert expresses hope that the pope will retract that error, but states, "if he does not do this, I am afraid that Canon Law may apply according to which a Pope automatically loses his Petrine office when professing heresy, especially when he professes the sum-total of all heresies."

The pope has taken notice of these objections.  He assured one and all that the Theologian of the Papal Household approved it.  But it seems that this theologian never saw the document.  I tend to think the latter is correct.

Two questions now loom before us.

1. Will the pope retract his error?
2. If not, will we have the courage and integrity to admit the obvious as Professor Seifert has done?

I'd suggest careful study of all three of these answers to the "human fraternity" heresy.  Pray that more Catholics stand up to these errors that, if left unchecked, will likely facilitate the damnation of many souls.  Pray that sanity return to the papal office.
