John Carr Retiring From USCCB, Will Eventually Be At CUA

After more than 20 years at the helm of the USCCB's Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development, John Carr is retiring from that position.  I have written extensively on Carr and the mischief wrought (please read that link and all the posts included therein for a full picture of Carr).  Probably the most scandalous of harm done by Carr and the USCCB minions that he supervised (most notably the Catholic Campaign for Human Development) is the funneling of millions of Catholic donations to Alinskyan organizations over the past few decades, including the now-disgraced ACORN.

ACORN Foments "Occupy Wall Street" Debacle

If you've been relying on the mainstream-lame-brain media, you've probably been spoon-fed nonsense about how this OWS thing is a spontaneous uprising of idealistic youngsters.  Of course if you've done some independent research (which is most likely the case if you're reading this), then you'll realize OWS is really quite destructive.  There are enough videos out there, videos created independently of the "New York Times / Washington Post" conglomerate. 

Of Porn And CCHD

The German bishops, for years, have been 100% owners in a book-publishing company called Weltbild.  One might think that it publishes only Catholic literature, with perhaps some world history or cultural classics as well.  Apparently not, according to this Lifesite News article.

German Catholic activist Gabriele Luby has been sounding the alarm for over ten years that the publishing house carries about 2500 pornographic titles, as well as other books promoting satanism and other assorted heresies.  She distributed a 70-page dossier to each bishop detailing what was happening.  Her warnings, and those of other good Catholics, fell on deaf ears.  It's not clear to me just how this came to the attention of the German public, but now that it has, the bishops are shocked - just shocked! - that these sorts of shenanigans were occurring.  Never mind the warnings that they've ignored for years.

The American parallel is obvious.  How long have we been sounding the alarm about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development?  We've been sounding our alarms for years about their grants to ACORN.  Only after the multiple scandals surrounding ACORN make headlines did the bishops finally concede that there were difficulties with the CCHD granting process.  Now that Reform CCHD Now's report has come out, they still insist on remaining in denial regarding the irreparably jaded nature of the CCHD and are even now trying to bilk faithful Catholics of their money to divert to questionable organizations.

For those who will endure a CCHD extortion collection attempt in November, don't give them a penny.  Instead, why not drop them a note telling why you won't contribute, and then donate to a crisis pregnancy center?

The Kudzu Called ACORN

ACORN does seem to play the pesky dandilion that keeps popping up all over one's lawn, albeit under different corporate guises.  According to World Net Daily, the House inserted language authored by Steve King to defund ACORN subsidiaries and successors in HR 2017.  The WND article does plug a book by Matthew Vadum regarding the ongoing actvities of these little outfits.  I just ordered it, as I suspect it may be a worthwhile read.

Further down the article we see listed some of these outfits.  Notice that George Soros has his fingers in those pies; it seems that his cash pollutes anything it can.  I'd suggest we take some hard looks at these matters, as the primary elections are less than a year away.

Former ACORN CEO Sings!!! Well, Uhhh, Kinda!

Apparently Bertha Lewis is into "gospel music".  Of course, that depends on one's definition of "gospel".  Whatever else her performance is, it is clear evidence that the nefarious mischief of ACORN festers on.  On the other hand, it also provides a little levity.  Truth be told, when I first listened to it, I laughed so hard I was in tears!  Really!  I couldn't dream up that crap to save my life!  Here's some more write-up on this performance - and ht to Pewsitter.

PP - "Planned Parenthood" OR "Pimp Protectors"?

Planned Parenthood must be defunded.  The efforts of the US House of Representatives to do precisely that (as well as defund all other abortion providers) must be supported.

By the bye -doesn't this remnd you of that other pimp-advisory service known as ACORN, namely the one in Baltimore, the one that received Baltimore CCHD grants?  We still haven't seen the CCHD 2011 grant list now, right?  Too many parallels here!

CCHD Chameleons - And Some Boycott Tools

In March, I posted news that some ACORN affiliates in New York and California had changed their names to Community Organizers International.  Go back and read it, realizing that these outfits often follow the same game-book.

That's what seems to be happening in California's Diocese of Orange.  The CCHD collection is now called the "National Needs in the Diocese of Orange" collection.  They're all just a bunch of chameleons now, aren't they?

The American Life League has done extensive work in researching the underhanded grantee practices that CCHD uses in doling out your donation dollars.  They have developed cards that you can put inside your CCHD (or "National Needs") envelope in lieu of money for deposit in the collection basket.

Unfortunately, the USCCB is also a participant.  Many of the state Catholic conferences follow suit.  Why do you think that their first answer to any social problem is to petition for some governmental funding (with the money ultimately coming from taxes)?  Think of that the next time "Junk Faith" peddles its nefarious teachings (often in contradiction to the Magiserium on personal morality and life issues).  Think of that the next time some "environmental committee" snorts about "carbon footprints" and global-warming junk science.  It's all a ploy to justify more governmental intrusion into our lives.

I'd like to say that they are simply dupes of the left-wing, but the people who occupy high positions in the USCCB have too many nefarious ties to other left-wing outfits for me to given them any benefit of doubt.  In fact, no doubt exists in my opinion is that the leadership of the USCCB (certainly the lay leadership if not some bishops) are in complete cahoots with the progressives and are fully culpable for any harm that comes to this country and its citizens.

Remember all of this in November.  Your vote counts!

A Rotten ACORN by Any Other Name..

It smells just as foul.  The Washington Times site is carrying a story that alleges that ACORN is folding.  According to Bertha Lewis, ACORN's chief executive, "ACORN has faced a series of well-orchestrated, relentless, well-funded right-wing attacks that are unprecedented since the McCarthy era.  The videos were a manufactured, sensational story that led to rush to judgment and an unconstitutional act by Congress."

Boo-hoo!  Sniff!  Sob! Ms. Lewis has mastered well the art of "blame everyone else for my misbehavior".   Surely their troubles had nothing to do with voter registration fraud, nor the Rathke brothers embezzlements, etc, but it was all those (we) right-wing meanies? 

Well that's one rotten nut down - or is it?  A little caveat - if you listened to that clip in the Times article, you may have picked up that some state affiliates (New York and California) broke away and changed their names to get away from the tarnished ACORN reputation.  The comments section to that Times post tell a somewhat different story.  Seems like a new facade is coming into play, to replace the irreversably jaded one named "ACORN".  Comes now the organization known as Community Organizations International!  Here they admit it!  We'll have to watch for this one in the CCHD grant reports.

We Have The Right Kind of Enemies

That's what we of the Catholic Media Coalition seem to have acquired, as a result of spreading the facts regarding the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the sorry state of their affairs (pro-abortion alliances, funds going to all manners of dubious recipients, heavy influx of tax dollars, etc).  Catholics United, another cabal of left-wing Catholics, has started an online petition in defense of the CCHD and as a backlash against both the Reform CCHD Now Coalition and the Catholic Media Coalition.  As this blog is a member of the latter, I say to the Catholics United bunch, "Thank you for that honor!"  For indeed, being attacked by folks like that is truly an honor.

If you want some chuckles, do read that petiton.  It starts out by saying, "I am proud of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.."  It reminds me of some of the pro-death clinic escorts with which I deal every week.  Every now and then I'll show them pictures of their fine "work" and ask them if they're proud.  Some actually say that they are proud as they look at the poor broken little bodies.  In many ways, though, the CCHD is responsible for turning those little babies into tiny corpses because of their partnerships with ACORN, PICO and other pro-abortion outfits.  And Catholics United is proud of that?  More on Catholics United later.   Now see proof positive that ACORN and Obama are intimate pals.



Now let's look at Catholics United in general.  Clicking on that link, we can now tour its website.  As we scroll down, we see that they are behind the Obama Hell Care Bill that would bring about euthanasia-pushing death panels as well as ensconce abortion in our social structure - to say nothing of socializing and rationing medicine and assuming divine prerogatives over our health. 

The next article down from that is where we see them scold some bishops who had the audacity to question the masterpiece of the Messiah Most Miserable.  They even had the gall to accuse them of distorting "the essential role government has in serving the common good."  I suppose they never heard of the principle of subsidiarity.  Some of the signers of this screed are: Fr Charles Curran, whom Pope John Paul II had dismissed from Catholic University for teaching aberrant theology, Fr. Thomas Reese, whom Pope Benedict XVI fired from his position at America and Doug Kmiec, ex-prolifer turncoat.  Great bunch of fellows!  Such credibility!

The next article down is a call to American Life League to suspend its "Bury Obamacare with Kennedy" campaign.  Speaking of Kennedy, they also mourn the "loss of Kennedy's passing."  While we certainly pray God's mercy upon his soul, we certainly lament the great harm done by Kennedy in his relentless pursuit of liberalized abortion.

Now click on "about us".  I have found that section of an organization's web page to be most illuminating, as it shows the philosophical bent of its key players.  We see, for instance, that James Salt, their "director of organizing" worked on Kathleen Sebelius' campaigns.

Readers, please keep praying and working.  We're having enough of an effect to cause a backlash.  Ora et labora!

More Manifestations of USCCB Corruption

John Carr is the Director of USCCB's Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development.  Among other things, The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is under the umbrella of this department, as is the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change (yes, they've glommed onto that junk science).  They also seem to be the organ of the USCCB that is clamoring for the socialist Obama Hell Care bill.

You may have noticed in the bio that he has also served as board chair of the Center for Community Change.  Click on that name for a look at their website.  Then click here  and here for closer inspections that reveals CCC to be rather ominous under its pseudo-idealistic veneer.  Actually, if you go back to the CCC website, just take a look at some of their board members (I find that to be most revelatory about an organization, as you get a feel for the philosophical orientations of the board by looking at their other affiliations).  You'll see folks from two left-wing labor unions.  One is the AFL-CIO.  I've led a number of pickets against John Sweeney, owing to AFL-CIO's push for contraceptives in health care policies.  You'll see someone from SEIU, the lovely bunch who acted as bully-bouncers at various town halls.  The presidnet of Ms Foundation for Women is there to lend a radical pro-abortion flavor to the bunch.  We see the ED of moveon.org there.  Get the idea?

Let's take a look at the executive director, Deepak Bhargava.  He used to be the Legislative Director of ACORN.  Now remember as you watch this clip that he and John Carr, USCCB's current Director of Justice, Peace and Human Development are closely tied through the CCC.



Now the big question is, why on earth did the United States bishops retain the so-called services of this man who is buddy-buddy with pro-aborts and socialists?  We all know, by the way, that John Carr is by far not the only rotten apple in that bushel.  The Les Femmes blog contains an excellent article detailing the systemic woes of the USCCB.  Please read it.  Jim Fritz, another Catholic Media Coalition affiliate, asked the question in his article, Is the USCCB Intrinsically Evil?

I've no bones about answering that last question with an emphatic "yes".  Take note that I believe the conference has become evil - not the bishops themselves, as they are the Successors of the Apostles.  However, as they continue to embroil themselves in that unsavory snakepit, they compromise their own ministries and poison the Church.

Suggested action item:  Let's tell the bishops that until they clean up this cabal, that you will not donate to any appeals.  Of course you would want to donate to a worthy group to fulfill the precept of supporting the Church's work.  But the Church's work does not include striking hands with the agents of the devil who want to undermine and destroy Catholicism.

Another Cracked ACORN Bites the Dust

Today in New Orleans state investigators raided the ACORN offices, as part of an investigation into tax fraud and embezzlement during the days when ACORN was headquartered there. Computer drives and documents were hauled away for copying.

In other words, state officials were simply cleaning up some of the mess that was financed by the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. In future years, who knows what Gamaliel affiliate or IAF organization will be raided? Ladies and gentlemen, this is just another reminder why we cannot contribute to the CCHD collection on November 22nd!

"Right-Wing Bloggers" Attack Poor Little CCHD!

Doesn't that just make you want to grab a hanky and sob your eyes out? Such mean-spirited (another liberal buzz-word right out of Alinskyan text books) slobs we are, for telling the truth about the CCHD. Now from whom does this snivvel-drivvel originate? For this we can thank "Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good" - or so they call themselves. Here's their desperate plea for assistance against our truth-telling.

For nearly 40 years, CCHD has empowered communities through grassroots organizing and economic development. Now CCHD is under attack and needs our support!
In recent months, the campaign has been attacked by right-wing bloggers and partisan ideologues. While they have successfully pressured CCHD to de-fund groups that have taken some positions opposed to church teaching, these critics have also launched a concerted effort to exploit the ACORN scandal to get CCHD to stop ALL funding for community organizing efforts. At least five dioceses have cancelled this year's collection. Several bishops have threatened to raise the issue next month at the U.S. bishops' annual meeting in Baltimore ...

The most precursory glance at the CACG website makes very plain that they are in bed with the most rabid liberals in Congress who want to shove Obamacare, with abortion and death care panels, down our throats. They're even touting a "40 Days for Health Reform" - an obvious copycat effort of the (genuinely) prolife 40 Days for Life effort. The CACG has even had the stupidity to chide the American Life League for its "Bury Obamacare with Kennedy" poster. They are appalled that ALL would "dishonor the legacy of the late Senator Edward Kennedy." In actuality, Senator Kennedy's legacy is 1) millions of murdered babies throughout the years and 2) dopey, arrogant children who dare to chide the Church for being true to its mission.

Let's look at some of the key players at CACG. Throughout the board, speakers' bureau and staff, we see lots of Pax Christi. Now on their staff, we have their Program Development Manager, James Kralovec. Among his credentials is an internship for the rabidly pro-abortion Congressman from Maryland, Steny Hoyer (now the Majority Whip). Notice some of the affiliations on the Advisory Council. AFL/CIO? SEIU? ACORN buddies all.

Let's look at the board chair - Alfred Rotondaro. He's also a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress in DC. Take a gander at that webpage to see what's on their little minds. On the right of the page is "The Progessive Pulse". (Important aside - the word "progressive" usually indicates socialist and/or atheist tendencies). Read what they consider a hand-wringer: "Will Abortion Derail Health Care Reform?" Of course they basically try to take Bart Stupak to the woodshed for championing the Hyde Amendment. Click on the "issues" tab and you'll see the mindset of the chair of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good!

Another board member, Dr. Joseph Fahey of New York is on the State Committee of the Working Families Party. Well, go to that website. That word "progressive" is festooned all over the place there. Now from where did this WFP originate? Here it is from their site:"formed by a grassroots coalition of community organizations, neighborhood activists, and labor unions". That's somewhat nebulous, but wikipedia gives a bit more detail. Yes, indeed, ACORN is one of the founders. Of course, WFP endorsed the Messiah Most Miserable for President.

I think that's enough to bring to light the questionable alliances of "Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good." They obviously are in alliance with ACORN, union thugs and pro-abortion politicians and organizations. Their protests on behalf of CCHD renders all the more important our efforts to effect not only the defunding of the CCHD, but indeed its permanent dismantling.

CCHD Monies Going to DC-Area Alinskyan Groups

I had searched the website of the Archdiocese of Washington (DC) to examine grants given to local groups, both from the national fund and the local fund. None were to be found. I contacted Mary McGinnity who runs the social justice efforts of the Archdiocese to ask where I could find these.

Ms McGinnity was very cordial and replied that many of her staff, including the CCHD Director, were laid off this past year due to cutbacks (I do remember that happening). She knew off the top of her head four local groups that received national funding last year. They are:

Washington Interfaith Network
Project Action
Partnership for Renewal in Southern and Central Maryland
Empower DC

Let's look at two of these, one by one. As I describe each, please click on its hyperlink to note interesting and troubling points.

Let's look at the Washington Interfaith Network. Right away, you'll notice that it is an affiliate of the Industrial Areas Foundation. This foundation was established by Saul Alinsky in 1940 "to restore the democratic way of life for modern society." Alinsky was an atheist and a socialist: qualities about which he was very frank in his book, "Rules for Radicals". In that book, he outlines what he considers to be principles for "community organizing": ostensibly to better the lot of marginalized people, but also to foster socialism. I would urge its close study, since that has become a key guidebook to all such "organizers", including Barack Hussein Obama himself. It is interesting to note that Alinsky dedicates his book to Lucifer, "the first community organizer..who at least won his own kingdom."

The motto that flashes through the lead WIN page is "we organize for power to transform communities." Well, gee whiz, if that's true, why did I not see any sign of them at last Sunday's "The People's Rally", where hundreds of local DC residents gathered to insist that they be allowed to vote on the DC Council's same-sex-marriage recognition? (Note: see my post a few down this page to see what happened at that rally).

Partnership for Renewal in Southern and Central Maryland is an affiliate of the Gamaliel Foundation. An examination of their website reveals their position on the Obama health care behemoth before Congress. They itch for the public option and they utter not one peep in protest about the multiple threats to the unborn and elderly that is inherent in this bill. At the bottome of the Partnership website is a link to the Gamaliel Foundation website. Click on that and scroll all the way to the bottom. You'll see extolled thereon the Messiah Most Miserable himself; they gush over Obama's former affiliation with them. But wait! Who else appears on that page? Why, it's Valerie Jarrett, long-time Chicago-political-hardball crony of the Messiah Most Miserable. Now an organization such as Gamaliel that ostensibly prides itself on championing the poor and downtrodden feature a woman who has had uh, some troubles managing residential real estate?

While it's true that CCHD might have disowned ACORN (after many years of pleas on the parts of alert, faithful Catholics), recipient organizations such as the two just described do indicate that the CCHD remains unacceptable as a recipient of donation dollars on November 22.

We urge a complete boycott of the CCHD collection on November 21-22. Please visit the CCHD-related and ACORN-related posts on this blog for more information and tools for the boycott. Also, please visit the blogs listed at the right. I also urge close study of the information posted on the website of the Catholic Media Coalition. 2009 CCHD Collection Theme: "We Made a Friggin' Mess! Let's Make More!!"

That's what it might as well be. According to the USCCB, it's "Families are struggling. Faith is calling." Well, why are families struggling? Here's a hint as to part of the reason - CCHD!

So why are families struggling today? Well, it's the economy. But what led to that? We might be tempted to say it's the mortgage crisis and such. But what was at the basis of that? One key factor is that lending institutions were largely coerced into making mortgage loans to people who most likely would have trouble repaying. Such coercion came about largely through the malfeasance of liberal politicians such as Barney Frank, and often at the behest of "community organizing" cartels such as ACORN and others. Sure enough, folks defaulted on the loans. Credit dried up without payments coming in, so house prices plummeted. I won't go into a long economic tome here, but we know that ACORN received millions from the CCHD. Therefore, the CCHD was funding much of the mischief that ACORN wrought on the housing industry, and thus, the nations and - of course, the "struggling families".

So why, oh why, should any of us drop one red penny into that second collection basket on November 22nd? The answer? We shouldn't!!!

ACORN-esque Groups by Any Other Name - Just As Nutty

We heard all kinds of assurances from the USCCB that ACORN and affiliates were defunded from the CCHD (all levels, allegedly) grants. So does that mean that all is just hunky-dorry with the CCHD and we can blithely contribute to them on November 22nd? Not so. Watch this.




Take note that one of the ACORN-esque groups, the Chinese Progressive Association in California, a recipient of thousands of CCHD dollars, published a "2008 Voter Guide" - yes, that's less than one year ago - urged California voters to vote for homosexual "marriage"; that is, it would have been opposing Proposition 8. As you've seen, there are several other anti-Catholic organizations that the CCHD funded last year.

One must wonder what will subsequent investigations uncover. As rocks are overturned, various worms and insects will be made manifest. Until then - despite USCCB false assurances - we urge you NOT to contribute to the CCHD on November 22nd. Instead, contribute to a truly pro-life ministry. Thank you.
