Cardinal Dolan Applies The Law Of Graduality - Courtesy Of The SinNod

In today's Vortex, Michael Voris reported on this year's Al Smith Dinner in New York City.  He had some stern rebukes for Dolan for yokking it up with various pro-abort muckety-mucks in attendance who undoubtedly shelled out some big bucks to renovate St. Patrick's Cathedral.

But hey!  I think Voris might have been a tad rough on the poor Cardinal.  After all,  Dolan was only implementing the law of graduality!  See my post below for more explanation of this "katholic' progressive double-talk emanating from the ongoing sin-nod!

Msgr Pope Apologies - Under Archdiocesan Compulsion?

Now we knew this was coming, didn't we?  See below what currently appears in the url http://blog.adw.org/2014/09/what-happened-to-the-st-patricks-parade-post/

My word!  How stupid does the Archdiocese of Washington think we are?  I've no doubt that this "apology" was coerced and the language for this may well have been dictated by the chancery.  Remember - this is the very same chancery that gave Father Marcel Guarnizo the heave-ho when the latter denied Holy Communion to a flagrantly practicing lesbian (as was his duty per Canon 915).

Msgr Pope's language in his now-censored post was strong, but such language was needed to adequately describe the depravity of Cardinal Dolan's kiss-up to the gays regarding what now will be the St Patrick's Day Orgy.  No doubt the unabashed truth stings the consciences of all progressives in all chanceries.  They will circle the wagons to protect their own from the light of the truth.

Msgr Pope is vowed to obedience to the local bishop.  Most likely he had no choice but to allow that poppy-cock apology to be published on his behalf.  We the laity are not so constrained, and we will call out this chicanery for what it is.

To the ADW trolls reading this post - no, we had no communications with Msgr Pope, so if your noses are out of joint because of this post, it will avail you nothing to vent your spleens at Msgr Pope.  My com-boxes are open.

Other Progressive Bishops (Namely, Archdiocese of Washington) Covering For Dolan?

Msgr Charles Pope of the Archdiocese of Washington, in the wake of Cardinal Dolan's disgusting kiss-up to gay activists, posted the article below on his blog.  I think he's spot-on correct.

However, Msgr Pope's blog is hosted on a server owned by the Archdiocese of Washington.  Lo and behold, the original link no longer works; try it!  http://blog.adw.org/2014/09/time-to-end-the-st-patricks-parade-and-the-al-smith-dinners/

Whoopsie!  Whaddya think of that?  Wanna bet that the "good ole boy" network of progressive bishops has mobilized to protect one of their own?  Cardinals Wuerl and McCarrick are of like mind as is Cardinal Dolan.  Such are the hazards of relying on other entities for your message medium.  So Msgr Pope's post was pulled.  I pray that's the only repercussion that he suffers.

Now the article..

It’s time to end New York’s St. Pat’s Parade and the Al Smith Dinner

The time for happy-clappy, lighthearted engagement of our culture may be nearing an end. Sometimes it takes a while to understand that what used to work no longer works. Let me get more specific.
Decades ago the “Al Smith Dinner” was a time for Republicans and Democrats to bury the hatchet (even if only temporarily) and come together to raise money for the poor and to emphasize what unites us rather than what divides us. But in the old days the death of 50 million infants was not what divided us. We were divided about lesser things such as how much of the budget should go to defense and how much to social spending. Reasonable men might differ over that.
But now we are being asked to raise toasts and to enjoy a night of frivolity with those who think it is acceptable to abort children by the millions each year, with those who think anal sex is to be celebrated as an expression of love and that LGBTQIA… (I=intersexual, A= Asexual)  is actually a form of sanity to which we should tip our hat, and with those who stand four-square against us over religious liberty.
Now the St. Patrick’s Parade is becoming of parade of disorder, chaos, and fake unity. Let’s be honest: St. Patrick’s Day nationally has become a disgraceful display of drunkenness and foolishness in the middle of Lent that more often embarrasses the memory of Patrick than honors it.
In New York City in particular, the “parade” is devolving into a farcical and hateful ridicule of the faith that St. Patrick preached.

It’s time to cancel the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Al Smith Dinner and all the other “Catholic” traditions that have been hijacked by the world. Better for Catholics to enter their churches and get down on their knees on St. Patrick’s Day to pray in reparation for the foolishness, and to pray for this confused world to return to its senses. Let’s do adoration and pray the rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet unceasingly for this poor old world.
But don’t go to the parade; stay away from the Al Smith Dinner and all that “old school” stuff that hangs on in a darkened world. And as for St Patrick’s Day, it’s time to stop wearin’ the green and instead take up the purple of Lent and mean it. Enough of the celebration of stupidity, frivolity, and drunkenness that St Paddy’s day has become. We need penance now, not foolishness. We don’t need parades and dinner with people who scoff at our teachings, insist we compromise, use us for publicity, and make money off of us. We’re being played for (and are?) fools.
End the St Patrick’s parade. End the Al Smith Dinner and all other such compromised events. Enough now, back to Church! Wear the purple of Lent and if there is going to be a procession, let it be Eucharistic and penitential for the sins of this age.
For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world!
How say you?

Washington Post: Dolan For Pope

The Washington Post, with a column by R. Scott Appleby, has graced us all with yet another token of their concern.  They are advising the Catholic Church how to select the next Pope!  Awww!  Isn't that just, well, special???  Kinda makes one wonder how the Roman Catholic Church managed to survive these two thousand years without the wisdom of the Washington Post to guide her paths!

He thinks it's time for an American pope.  Appleby asserts that an American pope would not have been advisable at the last election eight years ago.  Why?  Because the rest of the world was "too resentful of America’s global footprint: its ostentatious wealth, its ubiquitous military presence and its saber-rattling, diplomacy-scorning president bent on prosecuting two unpopular wars. Big Brother hardly needed a partner in the Vatican."

Ah, but now that's changed.  Barack HUSSEIN Obama, the Messiah Most Miserable, is now president.  He has "softened America’s international image".  (I might argue that "softened" is a bit of an understatement, but I would digress!).  And who, oh who, is Appleby's choice?  Cardinal Dolan!

You see, he "projects vigor and regular-guy charisma, making his unwavering support of Vatican orthodoxy on sexual ethics and other doctrinal matters more palatable to the broad Catholic middle."   I suppose "regular-guy charisma" included that Al Smith Dinner, where Dolan allowed Obama his coveted photo-op right before the election and that groveling letter he wrote to Andrew Cuomo.

Appleby opines that "the church desperately needs an infusion of modernity" and "one who can get the creaky gears of the Vatican moving again, perhaps with the assistance of money and expertise from affluent and well-placed donors".  In reality, the Church needs to have modernism purged from its institutions and its clergy.  As for the "assistance of money", the apostles did quite nicely without buckets of money from Rome as they were commissioned and empowered by Jesus Christ Himself.  These are not valid qualification for the selection of a pontiff.

Cdl Dolan Snubbed Judie Brown But Dined With Obama

There are times when I think I heard it all, when it comes to priorities of some prelates which can only be called "whacked out".  Those times generally don't last too long for I invariably am taken aback by new whoppers (ht - Pewsitter).  That happened again as I read Judie Brown's blog piece today.

Judie Brown, as most in the pro-life community know, is founder and president of American Life League, a leading Catholic and pro-life organization.  In her article today, she relates how then-bishop Timothy Dolan backed out on an invitation by Pro-Life Wisconsin to give the invocation at their annual banquet in 2009.  Why did he do that?  Because Ms. Brown was to be the keynote speaker.

Cardinal Dolan Thinks He Erred?

This New York Post article reports that Cardinal Dolan is having second thoughts about the Obama invite.  If true, it's about time.  Forgive me for being cynical, but we've been bombarding the New York chancery for months now about this photo-op treat that His Eminence was handing to the Messiah Most Miserable.  The cynic in me is shouting that the Cardinal is now trying to placate us.

Again, if it's true, let Cardinal Dolan do the right thing - rescind the invitation to the most anti-life, anti-Christian individual ever to pollute the White House.

Cardinal Dolan, Where Are You?

That is the title of a piece written by Jim Fritz regarding the colossal error of judgment shown by Cardinal Dolan in allowing the Messiah Most Miserable to attend the Al Smith Dinner next month in New York.  In addition to being a colleague in the Catholic Media Coalition, Jim and I spent many hours sidewalk-counseling in front of the (now-defunct) Hillcrest Women's Surgi-Center on Georgia Avenue, just south of the MD-DC line.  It was one of the first abortuaries in DC, and we were both privileged to be there at its demise.

While I give His Eminence much credit for handing to the Democrats a thinly-veneered and much-needed rebuke vis-a-vis his closing benediction, I believe that Cardinal Dolan contradicts that benediction by allowing Obama a Catholic venue at which to preen and posture just before the election.

When I first read the title to Jim's article, I immediately noticed its similarity to that of one of the early 1960s sitcoms - Car 54, Where Are You?  That show depicted the misadventures of two bumbling New York City cops.  If Jim intended to show a parallel between the New York City cops and the New York City Cardinal, I think we all understand it.

Obama Nixes Catholic Prayer At DNC, Will Allow Muslim Jumah

I suppose on the bright side, that Obama is allowing some prayer.  The big question is "prayer to what"?   Well, in this case it's to the false idol called "Allah".  The "prayer" in question is called Jumah.  And yes, it is an official function - to be held on Friday of course.

Another "bright spot" is that Sister Maureen Fiedler can stop hyperventilating now.  Cardinal Dolan tried to be "bipartisan" about convention prayers.  It's not the fault of His Eminence that the Messiah Most Miserable behaved like a lout.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Dolan continues to fall all over himself in trying to make nicey-nice with these pro-abortion politicians.  A few days ago he waxed lyrical/hysterical as he stated "it's a cause for celebration in the Catholic community that the two vice-presidential picks are Catholics."  Comparing the "katholycism" of Biden with the Catholicism of Ryan is like comparing night and day.  The only way, perhaps, that His Eminence can compare Biden with another Catholic is to compare Biden with himself for the sheer number of gaffes that both of these men utter.  Let's face it - that comparison was an abysmal Dolan gaffe.

Perhaps there's yet another bright spot.  Now that Catholic prayer has been jettisoned in favor of Muslim idolatry, Cardinal Dolan can use that as a reason to disinvite Obama from the Al Smith Dinner.  Let His Eminence show a bit of backbone and do the right thing in this case - disinvite the abortion-adoring Obama.

Sting Operation: Al Smith Dinner Open To Pro-Abort Groups

The Pro-Life Corner Blog announced yesterday the results of a "sting operation" conducted by an anonymous pro-life individual.  She portrayed herself as a "clergy woman" from Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.  She emailed the Al Smith Foundation to inquire about a table purchase by RCRC.

Well, poor Meghan at the Al Smith Foundation gladly replied, stating they'd be welcome, as long as they ponied up the cash.  By the way - tables start at the paltry sum of $25,000.00.  I guess that's what inflation has done to 30 pieces of silver.

A little "aside" - Recalling how the various officials of the Archdiocese of New York tried so hard to convince the public that this dinner is not an archdiocesan event, don't you find it interesting that the domain of the Al Smith Dinner email is "@archny.org"?  I just think that's fascinating!

I thank A Blog for Dallas Area Catholics for the tip on this.

ADNY Tries Again To Justify Its Planned Obeisance To Obama

Today, after the Archdiocese of New York realized we are not going to buy the lame excuses and pabulum put forth by its various employees, they somehow think that we'll swallow the same regurgitated pig-slop "hook, line and sinker" if Cardinal Dolan's name appears in the byline of the daily blog post.  Well, that is NOT happening!

I share the frustration that Voris felt with the earlier schlock because there's so much error, obfuscation and downright silliness that one can scarcely determine where to begin to unpack the mess.

First, notice the word "civility" appears often and in italics.  One wonders what the ADNY means by that word.  Mention is made of "positive, upbeat discourse, enjoyable discourse".  Would the ADNY be that interested in "civility" if the dignitary in question was an avowed racist?  Would Cardinal Dolan be interested in "upbeat discourse" with such an individual?  I suspect not.  So why try to convince the public that bowing and scraping before an avowed baby-murder facilitator and homosexual-perversion advocate is being "civil"?

Catholic Elite Lexicon - "civility" = bowing, scraping, wining-and-dining, adulating and generally making nicey-nice with enemies of the Faith and common decency for the sole purpose of obtaining from said enemy money and/or political favors

In that same paragraph, we see that "for seven decades" and "every four years", such "civility" was extended to all presidential candidates.  That's not true.  In 1996, Cardinal O'Connor barred President Clinton from the dinner precisely because of the latter's policies against unborn babies.  In 2004, Cardinal Egan did not invite John Kerry for the same reasons.  Apparently these Cardinals understood that there are higher considerations than "civility".

I'm going to skip through a few errors and note a few more.  The Cardinal (or his ghost writer) says that the dinner is "not an award or the provision of a platform".  It most certainly is.  It will lend to Obama a credibility of which he is totally unworthy.  And yes, it does send a very clear signal that the Archdiocese of New York is turning its back on the babies to garner a few thousand dollars.  The New York chancery deceives only itself if it really believes otherwise.

Later he asks "what message would it send if I refused to meet with the president"?  Your Eminence, who is asking you to "refuse to meet with the president"?  The venues for possible meetings are myriad!  What we insist is that you do so in a way that actually serves the truth and doesn't provide scandal.  By the way - who is one key individual who will be spiritually harmed by this scandalous example?  President Obama himself!  Yes indeed!  By this attempt to curry his favor, the Archdiocese communicates to Obama that his worldly power is to be preferred to his spiritual well-being.  Obama himself is a lost sheep, and the Archdiocese of New York is attempting to feed off him at this dinner.  If Cardinal Dolan does not administer some "tough love" to Barack Obama, he may well have to answer for Obama's soul at his own final judgment.

Michael Voris Takes On Bill Donohue

And I say "good for Michael"!  Bill Donohue is not the only one who is trying to justify Cardinal Dolan's abysmal lack of judgment.  Some Patheos-oriented blogs are doing the same; because the bloggers thereon are rewarded for the number of times they are clicked, I will not link to them.

As you watch, notice how Voris makes reference to a news article about the meeting between the Pope and Nancy Pelosi (between the 7:00 and 7:40 marks).  The link is here.  And here is the petition asking Cardinal Dolan to rescind the invitation to Obama.

Click here if you can't see embedded video.  As one of the so-called "piety police", that is, one of the non-elite, I thank Mr. Voris for one again serving notice that we will not be silent while our Church (with millions of souls) is being sold down the river.  I am glad to be a Peasant Catholic and am glad that this blog can play a small part in giving voice to so many.

Unpacking ADNY's Lies - Part 2

Vortex Unpacks ADNY's Lies

First the video, then I'll comment below.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Here is the New York Archdiocesan blog post to which Voris refers.  I trust you've noticed that the domain is that of the Archdiocese of New York, as well as the logo at the top of the post.  Voris uses the word "insulting", with "insulting the intelligence" to politely describe the lies being promulgated in Mechmann's reply.  That's right!  I said lies!  I can understand Voris's hesitation about being up front about the nature of Mechmann's - no, rather the Archdiocese's - statements, given the dust-up he had to endure from the Archdiocese of Detroit.  However, I have no bones whatsoever about stating the following observation.

In this blog post, the Archdiocese of New York deliberately tells lies.  Such is a sin against the Eighth Commandment.  Whether the sin is mortal or venial I cannot fathom.  But there is sin - unless, of course, Mechmann et al are so idiotic that culpability is reduced.  In that case, they have no business occupying positions of responsibility.

I read that blog post, of course.  There is much slop and error contained therein.  I await Voris' future installments.  If there are anomalies upon which he doesn't touch, I will.

Until then, keep after Cardinal Dolan to rescind the invitation.

Cardinal Dolan To Shame Himself Before Obama

By now most people have heard that both presidential candidates will be the main speakers at the Alfred E Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner, hosted by Catholic Charities of New York.  It will be held Thursday, October 18th at the Waldorf-Astoria.

That's right!  Once again, the Messiah Most Miserable, the most abortion-fostering president to date, is being wined and dined and adulated at a Catholic event.  Of course decent people are outraged at this invitation.  Obama has shown himself to be openly hostile to Christian values of life and morality - particularly as they are displayed by Catholics.  Even now we are fighting the draconian HHS mandates that came into play a few days ago.

Cardinal Dolan's office tried to stave off criticism.  His spokesman, Joseph Zwilling, claimed, "this is not a partisan event.  It is an evening to put politics aside and come together in a spirit of civility."  Well, here are a few questions for Mr. Zwilling and (by extension) His Eminence.
  • If this is not a "partisan event", just what kind of event is it?  Answer - a money-grubbing event, and an event to flatter the wealthy and powerful.
  • When you "put politics aside", what else are you putting aside?  Answer - your Christian principles, your sense of right versus wrong.
  • If you think you're putting politics aside, do you really think Obama is doing the same?  You are handing to him, on a silver platter, the perfect photo-ops to use on the Catholic public just two weeks away from the presidential elections.  But if you really persist in that belief, may I sell to you the Brooklyn Bridge?
  • If you really want to engage in a "spirit of civility", why not ask Obama to "reach across the table" in that regard?  The fact is that while the dinner is occurring and all the schmoozing and elbow-rubbing occurs, babies will be murdered during that time.  Try asking Obama to have all abortions in New York City suspended while that dinner occurs and see how far that "civility" will go!
Father Frank Pavone, president of Priests for Life, denounced Obama's planned appearance at the dinner.  His remarks, though brief, are spot-on.  Of particular note is his statement, perhaps as a retort to Zwilling, "there comes a time when the polite putting aside of differences for a while amounts to scandal".  Father Pavone is correct.

Over three years ago, Obama gave the commencement address at the University of Notre Dame.  That was roundly and rightly criticized.  Among the critics was - Cardinal Dolan!   Read his statement from April 15, 2009!  He said (among other things), "by inviting President Obama to deliver the commencement address and to receive an honorary degree, Notre Dame wrongly signaled to students 'we hold him up as a model to you'".  I submit that there is no change between that occasion and this.  Why the change in Cardinal Dolan's outlook between then and now?  I submit that Cardinal Dolan is sending the same signal now that he so correctly deplored in 2009.  This dichotomy in the Cardinal's two positions is rendered more stark by the evils thrust on this nation during the intervening three years.

I now post below some comments from the Vortex, as well as a petition that Michael Voris is asking all to sign, to have this ridiculous invitation rescinded.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Here is the petition link http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/cdl_dolan_disinvite_obama/

I frankly believe the petition will be ignored (although I'd welcome being proved wrong in this case).  In that case, it might be necessary for Catholics (and others of good will) to take to the streets in front of the Waldorf-Astoria in protest, as did hundreds of good people at Notre Dame.  The onus for this will largely be on the faithful of New York.  Are we up for it?
