From The "Et Tu Brute" Department

Paul Ryan disappoints me.  He now appears to be a bit of a turncoat with regards to "gay adoption", that is, the deliberate exposure of an impressionable child to perverted sinful lifestyles.   See this and this.  Clearly he's off my "acceptable" list.

If You Missed The VP Debate...

Here it is (here if you can't see embedded video).

USCCB Takes Biden To The Woodshed

And it's high time!  Among the many lies Biden spewed during last night's debate (when he wasn't grinning like a permanent resident in an insane house) was the line, "With regard to the assault on the Catholic Church, let me make it absolutely clear: No religious institution, Catholic or otherwise – including Catholic Social Services, Georgetown Hospital, Mercy, any hospital – none has to either refer contraception, none has to pay for contraception, none has to be a vehicle to get contraception in any insurance policy they provide. That is a fact."  Ryan at one point then asked why the Church was suing the administration.

In a press release issued today, the USCCB pretty much asked the same question.  They called his statement an "inaccurate statement of fact".  They are being diplomatic to a fault.  I'll call it as it is: a bald-faced lie.

The Presidential Election And Religious Freedom

The Catholic Association has released its Religious Freedom Scorecard.  The pdf can be downloaded here. Please do so, print it and distribute freely.  Here's a clip recently released by the Romney/Ryan campaign (click here if you can't see embedded video).

Obama Nixes Catholic Prayer At DNC, Will Allow Muslim Jumah

I suppose on the bright side, that Obama is allowing some prayer.  The big question is "prayer to what"?   Well, in this case it's to the false idol called "Allah".  The "prayer" in question is called Jumah.  And yes, it is an official function - to be held on Friday of course.

Another "bright spot" is that Sister Maureen Fiedler can stop hyperventilating now.  Cardinal Dolan tried to be "bipartisan" about convention prayers.  It's not the fault of His Eminence that the Messiah Most Miserable behaved like a lout.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Dolan continues to fall all over himself in trying to make nicey-nice with these pro-abortion politicians.  A few days ago he waxed lyrical/hysterical as he stated "it's a cause for celebration in the Catholic community that the two vice-presidential picks are Catholics."  Comparing the "katholycism" of Biden with the Catholicism of Ryan is like comparing night and day.  The only way, perhaps, that His Eminence can compare Biden with another Catholic is to compare Biden with himself for the sheer number of gaffes that both of these men utter.  Let's face it - that comparison was an abysmal Dolan gaffe.

Perhaps there's yet another bright spot.  Now that Catholic prayer has been jettisoned in favor of Muslim idolatry, Cardinal Dolan can use that as a reason to disinvite Obama from the Al Smith Dinner.  Let His Eminence show a bit of backbone and do the right thing in this case - disinvite the abortion-adoring Obama.

What Makes Liberals Indignant??

Progressive CINOs are all smiles and gladness when the rabidly pro-abortion Barack HUSSEIN Obama is invited by Cardinal Dolan to besmirch a Catholic event, but wax hysterical at the thought of Cardinal Dolan attending the (gasp!) Values Voters Summit in Washington DC next month.

Today Sr Maureen Fiedler, in today's online National Catholic Reporter is indulging in a good old-fashioned liberal snit-fit over the prospect.  She utters the dire warning that the Cardinal might "share the stage with such right-wing luminaries as" Michele Bachman, Governor Jan Brewer and (horror of horrors!) GOP VP candidate Paul Ryan.  Not only that but she warns that "an appearance is to an endorsement of Republican candidates".

By the way - for examples of how Fiedler (doesn't) thinks, peruse some samplings from her blog.  Some titles are quite revelatory: "How Do We Prevent Global Climate Catastrophe?", "Real Threats to Religious Freedom", "Gay in the Eyes of God" promise to be real hoots.  In reality, they are symptomatic of the moral and spiritual rot that exudes from the progressives within the Church.

Paul Ryan - GOP Candidate For VP

To get an idea of Mr Ryan's abilities, watch this (here if you can't see embedded video).

The vice-presidential debates will be a delight to watch!  But one must have some pity not only on Biden, but also those poor little "nuns on the bus".  Think of it - they traipse all over the country whining about Ryan's budget - only to see him picked for the Number 2 spot on the GOP ticket!  I bet George Soros isn't very happy to see that bus trip wasted.

And yes, Paul Ryan is pro-life - and Catholic too!

Obama VS Ryan: Who Is Really Threatening Grandma?

Remember that gem of an ad showing a Paul Ryan lookalike throwing an elderly woman off a cliff?  Look after the jump break.

An Interview With Bishop Morlino

On Thursday I touched a bit on Bishop Morlino of Madison Wisconsin.  He made the news because of his defense of his traditionalist parish priests against subterfuge by liberal/dissident parishioners.  In that post I linked to an earlier post showing how he took exception to the USCCB support of the public union workers against Governor Walker.

I applaud Bishop Morlino for not being afraid to go "against the wind" (of hot air) emanating from the dark halls of the USCCB.  He has done so again in defending Rep Paul Ryan from specious charges of "going against Church teaching" lobbed at him from the USCCB.  (By the way - here's an interesting article entitled "Are Catholics Required to Support a Continually Expanding Welfare State?")

In this brief episode of an EWTN program, Bishop Morlino is interviewed on the topic of Paul Ryan, as well as the topic of Sebelius's scheduled appearance at Georgetown this coming Friday.  Click here if you cannot see embedded video.

How Bishops Insert Their Feet In Their Mouths

Phil Lawler at Catholic Culture said it quite well.  On May 4th he congratulated the bishops for taking a strong stand regarding the HHS mandate.  However he rightly points out that the bishops since then have diluted their message by issuing similar statements on matters about which good Catholics can disagree, e.g., the federal budget, immigration, etc.

We know that when the bishops treat issues of intrinsic morality as just a few among a whole laundry list of "issues" that are, morally speaking, of less import, that dissident politicians can glom onto those latter issues to make themselves appear to be faithful.  Such is the case with the rabidly pro-abortion Vice President Joe Biden.  Because Rep Paul Ryan's budget proposal calls for social program cuts (along the lines of the principle of subsidiarity), many of the progressive-leaning bishops frown upon it.  Biden has decided to jump on that bandwagon, scolding Ryan for "violating Catholic social teaching".  Stop laughing!  Bishop Biden is very, very serious - don't you understand?  He says to Ryan that the budget is "contrary to the social doctrine my church teaches".   Quick!  Where's the ACLU when you need them to screech about "separation of church and state"?  Nah - I don't hear them, either!

"The social doctrine which his church teaches" states that the murder of babies is always intrinsically wrong.  No one can call himself a faithful Catholic who lends support to that evil, as Biden continues to do, to this day.  On the other hand, good Catholics can disagree as to how best to aid the poor.  The so-called "safety net" that the government offers is one of fatal entanglement.

Paul Ryan, whose voting record is pro-life, is stating his case quite plainly that his budget proposal is sound and moral.  Town Hall has a piece detailing that Ryan is not taking these insults sitting down;  he is challenging his opponents to stop measuring compassion by how much we spend. Read it and watch the video of Ryan.  If you cannot see the embedded video, click here.

Rosa DeLauro Wastes Catholic Newsprint

Catholic News Service, the propaganda arm media outlet of the USCCB, conducted an interview of Rosa DeLauro, Democratic Congresswoman from Connecticut.  Because her name has a familiar sound to me, I looked her up on my blog.  Sure enough, I posted about her in the past.  She and a gang of other CINO pro-abortion politicians wrote an open letter to Cardinal McCarrick demanding that he not deny them Holy Communion simply because they support the murder of babies (minor matter, that!).  As I said before, they need not have bothered, but I digress!

She's taking the opportunity to rip into the budget proposed by Congressman Paul Ryan.  It seems that his budget cuts too much into the socialistic "social justice" pet projects of both the progressives in Congress and the progressives in the USCCB.  She also tears into Archbishop Dolan for his leadership in opposing the encroachment of the religious freedoms of real Catholics by the Messiah Most Miserable and his Minions Most Mindless (one of whom was being interviewed by CNS).  Perhaps some elements of the USCCB are embarrassed by the Archbishop and feel they must make nice-nice to the CINO cabal in Congress.

If the Catholic Church in the US wants to slash its expenditures and redirect them to charity, they'd do well to abolish the USCCB.  What a waste of Catholic dollars!
