Catholic Charities Gets Well-Deserved Comeuppance

President Trump announced that he was going to enforce our immigration laws and not allow the border-crashing criminals to get away with their crimes. Imagine that!  The president of the United States actually fulfilling his constitutionally-appointed duties.  However, progressive organizations carrying the name "Catholic" in their names understand that their incomes will dry up in the process.  To be specific, they will be expelled from the Federal teats (that is, our tax dollars) since "immigration processing" is a major reason for them receiving Federal grants.

Faithful Catholics have documented many times how Catholic Charities branches, particularly those located near the southern border, receive billions of federal dollars (that originate as withholdings from our paychecks).  That link details other evils committed by Catholic Charities over the years: needle exchange programs, driving young girls to abortion appointments, trafficking of children.

Well, Catholic Charities got wind of the newly-invigorated enforcement, as ICE and other agencies started snatching up illegals for deportation.  They released the video below, showing that they are entirely complicit in the de facto breaking and entering that these guys (and yes, it's mostly young males) have been doing, all on the federal (i.e., your) dime.  Observe.  A little translation: this woman says "undocumented"; that means "here illegally".  I doubt that she would call a burglar breaking into her home "an undocumented house guest".

So here you have it - a Catholic organization telling criminals how to evade the law.  President Trump was having none of that.  He made clear that any such organization who aided and abetted criminals could not reasonably expect the government to fund them.  Catholic Charities was literally slapping the hand that fed them and they expected that hand to keep on doling out the cash.  Had that hand been Biden's, that might have happened.. Wait!  Scratch that!  Biden would never have started to enforce the border at all!

Right on cue, the Maryland Catholic Conference ordered the parishes to email all their parishioners some very disingenuous blather regarding immigration.  The text is on their site.  You will notice immediately that there is no distinction between legal immigration and illegal immigration.  The lack of distinction is so egregious that we can call it deliberate deception - a lie.

President Trump, to his immense credit, announced the defunding of not only Catholic Charities, but any NGO that facilitated the breaking of immigration law.  Karoline Leavitt, White House Press Secretary, mentioned Catholic Charities by name when queried by a reporter about the matter.  This screen shot from a Facebook page lists some others.

It says that Catholic Charities will soon be bankrupt.  Perhaps the creator of that meme was simply being facetious, but we all know that a significant part of Catholic Charities' budget does come from federal grants.  In-pew collections?  Well, they haven't received a penny from me in several decades, and I cannot imagine one informed and decent purpose funding their mischief.  If Catholic Charities does go bankrupt, all I will say is "good riddance".

The Texas Border Situation And The US Catholic Hierarchy - More Than Meets The Eye

We all know by now that Governor Greg Abbott is taking action, as per his rights and duties as Governor of Texas, to secure the southern border, of which Texas forms a large part.  The Biden administration has been dismantling the wall that President Trump took great strides in building.  Biden et al took great umbrage at Abbott, insisting that federal employees be allowed in Texas to continue the demolition of the wall.  Abbott is refusing, correctly chiding the federal government in its dereliction of its constitutional duty to protect from invasion while citing his own to protect Texans.  So far, 25 governors from other states have stood in solidarity with Texas, issuing statements of their own.

The Catholic hierarchy, from the pope on down, have been waxing indignant over Abbott's measures.  They snivel on how Jesus and the Holy Family were refugees (they weren't!) in a foreign land, how the razor wires are cruel (only if attempts are made to cross at non-checkpoint locations) etc, etc.  Would that their angst was merely misguided.  Alas, there may be some ulterior motives.  Over the years, various Catholic Charities offices in Texas have been receiving federal grants, to the tune of millions of our tax dollars, to facilitate the "processing" of illegal immigrants.  Now please read the first article in that last anthology of posts.  Read how immigrant children were hurried out of a local Catholic Charities office and stuffed into a luggage compartment of a vehicle.  Only when a reporter blocked the car and called the police did that truth come out.  So now we seem to have prima facie evidence that Catholic Charities, and by extension, the US Catholic hierarchy, are actively involved in child trafficking.

Thanks to Canon 212, I saw today a post from Complicit Clergy, detailing why so many US bishops support Biden and despise Trump.  Oh, by the way, count Francis in with that bunch.  They published financial statements from the USCCB showing the drop in Federal funding while Trump was in office and the dramatic climb once Biden stepped in.  As you examine the various charts, you will notice that many of these Catholic agencies deal with immigration.  We know that among these immigrants are many children with a high percentage of them either alone or accompanied by unrelated adults.  It is reasonable to suspect that many of these children are being trafficked for sale into sexual slavery.

The Catholic hierarchy, as we saw in the April 2021 blog post, is involved in that trafficking.  Are they deriving profit from such trafficking?  Are any of those defenseless children being used by their colleagues who may be sexual perverts?  We have seen too many accounts of perverted clergy raping young children.

As I examine the charts, I do take issue with Trump on one thing.  It would have been far better if he had ceased funding the USCCB and these other left-wing cartels completely, not giving to them so much as one red penny.

Below is last week's episode of the Anchor team, where Michael Hichborn discusses the situation in Texas and how it relates to the Church.  Please watch it.

New Head of Catholic Charities USA Will Continue Left-Leaning Directions

Catholic Charities USA selected its new President and Chief Executive Officer.  Her name is Kerry Alys Robinson.  Judging from that write-up, it appears that she will help propel Catholic Charities down to its progressive abys.  She is replacing Sister Donna Markam, who will soon retire.  She hails from the Leadership Roundtable, which is fraught with its own left-wing influences.  She was a member of the national committee for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, about which I and other Catholic bloggers have written copiously.

Let's look at some of her new colleagues at Catholic Charities USA.  There's Keith Styles, the Executive Vice President, General Council and Chief Operating Officer.  He has quite the record for political contributions, donating regularly to ActBlue and to "Hillary for America" in 2016.  John Kerry received $1,000.00 when he ran in 2004.

Bill Gangluff, Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, a graduate of Notre Dame, also contributed frequenly to ActBlue.

All in all, we have ample reason to believe that Catholic Charities will continue to champion left-wing ideologies, and they'll most likely continue to facilitate the crashing of our southern borders.  Catholic Charities remains another "catholicized" slush fund that doesn't deserve our collection dollars.

Is Catholic Charities Participating In Trafficking Of Vulnerable Immigrant Children?

Two very related articles are making their way through the internet this week, both regarding the shipment by the Federal government of unattended undocumented alien children.  I cannot call them "illegal aliens" for many of them are not of age to be culpable of border crashing.  The feds are, though.

Judicial Watch, through a FOIA request, obtained a 16-page document from the HHS Department revealing that planes originating in San Diego were depositing these kids in multiple cities.  This is orchestrated by the Biden administration but has probably been going on for a long time.  Now consider that these kids are being deposited in some refuge centers - no homes, no families.  What is the nature of these "refuge centers"?  What do the feds intend for these kids?  Is it at all possible that this is sheer, unabashed human trafficking, with the aim of exploiting these kids?

About the same time, this article from the New York Post is making its way through the web.   They state that several so-called "charities", including Catholic Charities, are receiving millions of dollars (our tax dollars, that is) to facilitate this illegal border crashing.  This is no surprise.

Over the years, this blog and other outlets have been disclosing the gross misbehaviors of Catholic Charities, especially with regards to illegal aliens.  Here we read an account from 14 years ago, when an employee of Catholic Charities of Richmond (VA) took a female client of theirs, an underage alien, with the prior knowledge of the local bishop, for an abortion.  In 2010, Catholic Charities of Arlington covered up the fact that an illegal alien whom they were aiding and abetting engaged in drinking-and-driving (not the first offense) and caused an auto accident that killed someone in the other car.  The feds had their hand in it, too, for he was about to be deported but was released on his own recognizance.

At one time, I thought these isolated incidents were anomalies.  I was enlightened otherwise when the truth was revealed how Catholic Charities, particularly in those locales near the southern border, were being granted millions of dollars (again, our tax dollars).  Of course, some of those "immigrants" were muslim terrrorists (read all the links).  Some of that government funding has been coming from HHS, mentioned in the second paragraph of this post as coordinating all the dispersal of immigrant children hither and yon.

Again, what is their "end-game" for these children?  What in hell do they plan to do with, and to, them?  I just do not trust them to have the children's best interests at heart.  Quite the opposite may well be the case.  If these children are slated to be exploited, the bishops, through Catholic Charities, will be part and parcel, and just as guilty of such crimes.

Catholic Charities Knowingly Engages In Human Trafficking

Complicit Clergy produced the expose that is below.  Truth be told, it is no surprise that Catholic Charities is all on board with human trafficking, including the rapes of women and children, the usage of children to portray an image of families coming across the border.  Apparently the children are being used multiple times, being drugged so as not to react with fright to total strangers holding them.

After you watch this video, please read the anthology of posts that I did about Catholic Charities over the years.  You'll see that Catholic Charities has collected millions of tax dollars to "resettle" border-crashers (by the way, "tax dollars" means your dollars extorted by the feds).  Now one wonders if they might be receiving funding from other sources such as drug and prostitution cartels.

One of my first forays into picketing faux-katholycs was a picket of a DC Catholic Charities Gala that featured pro-abort AFL-CIO leader John Sweeney and now Mr McCarrick as co-chairs.  Many of the "katholycs" entering into the swanky affair gave us the finger and utilized language that would have done the town drunks proud.

Not only is Catholic Charities involved in scandalous, if not criminal activity, but Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Campaign for Human Development are as well.  I won't say they are compromised, as though their original purposes were noble.  Rather, I will say that the undermining of Catholic faith IS their original purpose.  Give them not one red cent of your hard-earned money and encourage others to do the same.  Many truly worthwhile charities exist that would be more worthy recipients of your contributions.

Catholic Charities In Texas Caught Facilitating Child Trafficking - Call To Action At End Of Post

On April 7, conservative pundit Alex Jones saw several small children being stuffed into a luggage compartment in a car in Texas.  The children were leaving a facility and were being prepared for smuggling to some seedy destination.

Jones placed himself in front of the vehicle, preventing it from driving away.  Meanwhile, his crew members sought out police attention.  Read more here.

Did you notice what the facility was, from which the children were being smuggled away?  Yes, it was a Catholic Charities office.  Are you shocked?  Don't be!  This sort of underhanded behavior is par for the course with them.  I've written much about their shenanigans throughout the years.  Their dirty deeds include:

  • Taking one of their "clients" to an abortion appointment
  • Coordinating needle-exchange arrangements for drug addicts.
  • Their CEO Msgr John Enzler making political contributions to pro-abortion candidates
  • And the list goes on
Those of us with long memories will recall how various Texas offices of Catholic Charities received millions of dollars in federal grants to "resettle refuges"; I suppose that also includes stuffing small children in a car trunk.  Whatever!  Gotta keep those dollars rolling in now, don't we?  More of their criminal actions can be found here.

The car trunk incident happened in Donna, Texas.  It appears to be in the Diocese of Brownsville Texas, headed by Bishop Daniel Flores.  I would hope that a criminal investigation is underway now regarding this office of Catholic Charities.  I believe child endangerment is a crime, is it not?  Anyway, one can see here the song and dance that the bishop is using to cajole his flock into submitting to an immorally tainted vaccine.  I am willing to bet no social distancing happened in that car trunk.

Contact Bishop Flores' office.  Let him know that you are outraged that a Catholic organization in his diocese is maltreating children in such an inhumane fashion.  They are in damage-control mode and have a "communications person" assigned to this.  I suspect we will have to call often; let's melt their phone lines and fill their email in-boxes.  Please let us all know the results of your conversation in the com box at the end of this post.

Cathoic Charities CEO Botches Incarnation, Supports BLM

(HT - One Mad Mom)

Here we have the CEO of Catholic Charities of Eastern Washington outright saying that because he is a white person, he is a racist, and then links his alleged "racism" with the fact that he is white.  Well, the automatic linkage of "racism" to Caucasian heritage is itself racist, so I will concede his own self-diagnosis.  Then comes the theological pronouncement at the 2:30 mark, when he says "our Catholic faith tradition was built on the premise that a baby born in a manger in the middle east was a white baby".  And to think that for over two thousand years, the Apostles, evangelists, Doctors of the Church, saints, etc got it all wrong, thinking that Jesus was God incarnate, without that toxic whiteness dawning on them even for an instant!  Silly bumpkins, we are!  How did western civilization ever survive without the sage wisdom of Rob McCann?

Then his states that "Catholic Charites supports Black Lives Matter" at the 5:00 mark.  Please check out the video linked in the previous post, where a BLM founder acknowledges the Marxist underpinnings of the BLM.  For that matter, check out BLM's own webpage.

I would think that not only Catholic Charities is supporting a Marxist, violence-spewing organization that is Black Lives Matter, but so is the rest of the vipers' den that is the USCCB.  Watch the video below.

A note to Catholic Charities trolls: any thoughts you have towards taking down this embarrassment of a video are understandable, albeit dishonest.  Don't bother, we've archived it, and any removal will only incriminate you further as conniving fools.

DC Catholic Charities To Profane Lent With Their Gala On A Friday In Lent

Before we delve into the topic as stated in the title of this piece, let's look at DC Catholic Charities in general.

This evening I had been taking a look at the website of DC Catholic Charities because I hadn't done so in a while.  Noting prior problems with Catholic Charities as a whole, I believe it behooves us to keep tabs on them.  One of the key indicators of the direction that a given organization will take is the composition of its leadership and the mindsets of the individuals in leadership.  So let's take a look at the Board of Directors of DC Catholic Charities.

We see that its chairman is Robert Trone.  Because my district's mis-representative is David Trone, I thought it worth a close examination.  Robert Trone is co-owner of a winery called Total Wine and More.  The other co-owner is (you guessed it!) David Trone.  From David's website, you can see his positions on marriage and baby-slaughter are at complete loggerheads with authentic morality and decency.  Now some might object that David's views don't necessarily reflect Robert's.  Ok.  Let's do some examination there.  Recalling that a person's politics is simply the person's beliefs and commitments as lived in the public arena, we can examine his/her political donations (which are public record) on the website of the Federal Elections Commission.  When I put in Robert Trone's name we see that he has contributed to Demorats from Obama to John Delaney.  I thought it odd that Robert Trone didn't contribute to his brother's campaign, but I see that Catholic Charities vice chair, Kevin Virostek did.  Interesting.

Scott Brickman, Debbi Jarvis, John Veihmeyer - all board members of Catholic Charities - contributed heavily to Democrats.  Oh, a few might have thrown some crumbs to RINO candidates, but they have ponied over a lot more to pro-aborts.  Patricia McGuire is also president of Trinity University/ naturally she would have made multiple contributions to Hillary Clinton's campaign.  Featured frequently in these lists are contributions to John Delaney and David Trone.

As I perused this site, I wished I had done so a week or two ago, for I see that they are having their fundraising gala next week.  But wait!  Isn't that a lenten Friday?  No problemo!  Right there you see that attendees (who will be expected to kick over mucho buckos) are dispensed from the observance, provided they perform some other penance - like hefty contributions to Catholic Charities?  Or perhaps this crowd doesn't really care about Lent!  If they did, could they not have scheduled their little "evening of dinner and dancing" outside of Lent?

Now look who the co-chairs are?  They are all either pro-abortion Democrats and/or they have contributed to the campaigns of pro-abortion Democrats.  This profanation of lent will most likely net thousands and thousands of dollars.  Since the leadership of Catholic Charities DC is being so blase about the lenten observance, does anyone really think that they will scrupulously apply Catholic moral principles in the spending of all that money?  Consider their pathetic history before answering that question.

Marshall And Hichborn On Social Justice Hoax And What You Can Do About It

Michael Hichborn has done extensive research over the years regarding "social justice" in the Catholic Church and the dangers that it poses to the eternal salvation of countless souls.  My Catholic Media Coalition colleague, Stephanie Block, also has done similar research; in fact, Hichborn acknowledges her contributions at the 31-minute mark of the video below.

In this video, Taylor Marshall interviews Hichborn regarding the shams that are the three main vehicles of this so-called "social justice".  They are: Catholic Campaign for Human Development, Catholic Relief Services, and Catholic Charities.  While the video is long, I think it worth your while to listen closely to the whole thing.  We are obliged to inform ourselves of these matters, and we simply must invest the time to do so.

A word to Catholics in the Archdiocese of Washington.  I now link to the schedule for the second collections in 2019.  Please note these three approaching collections:
  • May 12 - Catholic Relief Services.  For reasons discussed in this video, and many more, this (and the on-going Rice Bowl collection) must be boycotted.
  • June 23 - Peter's Pence.  In light of recent revelations regarding the stench that is in the Vatican, we dare not feed the corruption with our hard-earned dollars.
  • August 4 - Catholic Campaign for Human Development.  Hichborn mentioned in the video that they try to disguise this collection.  That's why they call it "Catholic Communications and Human Development?.  Whom do they think they are fooling?
Very soon I will give some practical suggestions on notes to put into the envelopes, etc.  For now, please pay close attention to this video and spread this around.  Thank you.

Are Texas Bishops Violating RICO As They Cover For Border Crashers?

On Friday, Church Militant TV released a Vortex that states that the Diocese of Dallas TX may be in violation of the RICO statute owing to its sheltering of illegal aliens, that is, border-crashers.  That bishop is Edward Burns

The Dallas diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of San Antonio, headed by Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Sillar.  Listen to his "statement on immigration".  He clearly parrots the progressive talking-points and obfuscates the all-important fact that these "immigrants" have crashed our borders knowingly, flouting US laws right at the onset.

In the video, Voris opines that the motives of the Texas bishops may by the filling of their pews.  I might add that another, perhaps more overriding motive might be the filling of their coffers.  Nearly four years ago it was revealed that Catholic Charities of Dallas received $823 thousand in federal grants (i.e., our tax dollars) to "resettle refuges".   Two years ago, we learned that one of those "refugees" that the Diocese of Dallas assisted went on to commit acts of terrorism in Ohio.  I daresay that this diocese has the blood of those injured on their hands.  How many more thugs and terrorists will these bleeding-heart and brain-bereft progressives in miters aid and abet?  Given Garcia-Sillar's sniveling, enough to keep the federal $$$ headed their way.

Since the local police departments seem to be in cahoots with the Dallas chancery, we may wish to ask Governor Greg Abbott to investigate this matter, and insist that he not demure simply because bishops are involved.  It is his responsibility to protect the citizens of Texas from invading threats, even if conniving bishops are aiding and abetting the invasion.  It does appear that they are violating RICO statutes.  Voris says that there will probably be updates to this latest bishop scandal.

Catholic Charities Hosts Democrat Dog And Pony Show At St Jude's In Rockville MD

In 2018 all levels of Maryland public officials are up for elections: from the governor down to the local registrar of wills.  That of course means all the county councils and county executives are up.  This past Thursday evening on May 3rd, I attended a debate of candidates for the Montgomery County Executive position held at St. Jude's in Rockville.

I must remind one and all that Montgomery County Maryland is a liberal loony bin.  The lunacy was on display tonight in all its macabre glory.  First the debate was co-hosted by both Catholic Charities and the Justice and Advocacy Council.  I knew that when I got the notice and realized it was a harbinger of things to come.

The moderator of this debate was none other than Msgr John Enzler, who has been known to cozy up to pro-aborts and even to donate to their political campaigns.  There were seven candidates who were debating.  Six of them were Democrats; Robin Ficker was the lone Republican.  Three of those Democrats are current members of the County Council; they are George Leventhal, Roger Berliner, and Mark Elrich.  They were also on the council in early 2010 when the council passed its measure to hog-tie pro-life pregnancy centers in the County.  If you go back to my archives from that time, you can see video that I took of the hearings in Rockville.  Leventhal was particularly contemptuous of the pro-life people who testified against the bill.  It did pass, but went down in flames in court.  Mind you, all three of the current county executive candidates voted for it, although it was obviously unconstitutional.  You'll see later on how they hold the US Constitution in cheap regard.

The first part of the debate focused on "immigration": that is, when the Democrats weren't busy bashing President Trump.  Each of the Democrats loudly proclaimed that if they were elected, they would protect the border-crashers and that they'd direct the County police not to cooperate with ICE in any attempt to enforce immigration laws.  Let that sink in.  The President of the United States is constitutionally charged with ensuring national security; part and parcel of that task is the securing of the nation's borders.  We all listened to Democrats vowing to undermine the President as he carries out his constitutional responsibilities.  Whoever is elected to the executive position in November will take his or her own oath of office.  That oath includes the upholding of the Constitution.  But in loudly proclaiming that they would undermine the president, they just admitted that they would disregard their own oaths of office.  Moreover, in stating that they'd direct the county police to take a hostile stance towards ICE, they'd be directing those same officers to disregard their own oaths that they swore as police officers.  Isn't that, well, special??

Now of course Enzler was just beaming with joy upon hearing such talk.  Recall that Catholic Charities, along with other branches of the US church hierarchy, receive billions in federal dollars to "resettle immigrants".  Since that amount is predicated on headcounts "served", we can see how they'd be anxious to keep them crashing our national borders.

They moved beyond the Trump-bashing and shilling for border-crashers onto other favorite progressive topics.  As I said, there was one lone Republican - Robin Ficker.  When the candidates were asked about bringing jobs to Montgomery County, Ficker said he would brook no tax increases on his watch.  The others clearly didn't like that and used their time slots to take umbrage at that suggestion.  They also lauded the hike in the minimum wage.  Clearly we saw a shining example of how progressives simply aren't in touch with the real world.  Hikes in minimum wages - hikes in taxes - universal health care - these are all arbitrary costs that make Montgomery County unfriendly to employers - especially to those that are small businesses.  Anyone with a scintilla of common sense knows that, but liberals are devoid of even that.

Education was a hot button topic too.  The favored solution for the Democrats seemed to be expanding pre-k programs.  That's right.  They actually want to take the three-year-olds and start the brain-washing early.  Perhaps if schools concentrated on the basics instead of allowing and even mandating that the students "walk out" for some gun-control parade, the students might actually learn some useful skills.  Perhaps if little children weren't suspended because they pointed their fingers and made gun sounds, they might feel safe enough to learn.

Not every topic was covered.  They didn't touch their draconian attempt to gag crisis pregnancy centers by a long shot.  There was also no provision for the audience to ask questions.  Oh, we could write them down on cards and submit them, but they were screened.  Be certain that Catholic Charities would never allow their sugar-daddy puppet-masters to be embarrassed.

Below is a recording of the debate - unedited so that you can hear the socialistic prattle in all its ugliness.  Forgive the comments from me and my companions; I trust they don't muffle the nonsense from the stage.

DC Catholic Charities' Mysterious Gala

Today, at Mass in a local parish, I discovered that the DC Catholic Charities is having its annual fundraising gala this evening.  Maybe I missed it but I recall no mention of it in the Catholic Standard.  It is here on their website, but immediately I noticed something very odd about it.  Nowhere do I see mention of a keynote speaker.  In the past, they have had some extremely questionable honorees.  In 2002, for instance, they honored John Sweeney, then president of the pro-abortion AFL-CIO.  He had been president for several years and still the AFL-CIO site directly linked to NOW's site.  So given their propensity to rub elbows with all sorts of seedy characters AND their rather coy silence regarding tonight's program, we will not be surprised if DC Catholic Charities indeed grovels at the feet of some pro-abort and/or dissident celebrity.

By the way, I went to their facebook page to see if there were additional details about this evening's shin-dig.  I didn't see any, but I saw where they promoted the Soros-funded "March for Our Lives".  However, I don't see one peep regarding the Sex-Ed-Sit-Out that is scheduled for April 23rd.  If parents are going to let their kids out of school, the reason might as well be to prevent progressive poison from polluting their brains and corrupting their morals.  In fact, I don't see mention of it on the USCCB site or any diocesan websites; if I've overlooked one, please advise.

If anyone has any info on this evening's event, please advise via the comments section.  In the meantime, please boycott the in-pew collections of all these so-called "Catholic charitable outreaches".

Msgr John Enzler - Making Allowances For Some Abortions?

Msgr John Enzler is CEO of Catholic Charities.  He's a former pastor of Blessed Sacrament parish in Washington DC (Chevy Chase neighborhood).  He writes regularly for Our Parish Times.

Unfortunately his leanings are quite progressive.  We've had occasion to comment on the evidence in the past.  In this latest issue of Our Parish Times he wrote a column entitled "Celebrating Life, Equality and Education".  Regrettably it is much worse than the usual progressive screed.  Please go to page 16 of that pdf.  In one paragraph he wrote glowingly of the March for Life.  However, he started the next paragraph by saying "I take a pastoral view of this issue".  Uh-oh!  There's that word "pastoral"!  We know now that it has ominous undertones, thanks to the way Pope Francis has used that word to camouflage all sorts of dissidence and heresy.  Msgr Enzler merely followed suit.  Here is the rest of Enzler's "pastoral view".  To wit: "Let’s start by admitting it’s wrong and admitting that abortion is in fact taking the life of an innocent baby. At the same time, let us as a Church be welcoming to all who may be considering or have had abortions. We don’t condone it, but we need to meet them where they are, recognizing that people are forced to make decisions in all kinds of circumstances. While we don’t agree with the decision, they still need to be welcomed and loved in our Church as part of God’s family."  Shall we unpack all this "pastoral" double-talk?

Let's do this "bullet style".
  • The phrase "at the same time" sets the stage for the treatment of a pro-abortion mentality as being equivalent to reverence for life.
  • "we don't condone it, but we need to meet them where they are"  It sounds nice, but "where they are" is literally hell-bound.  Where is the acknowledgment that the Church must immediately call such people away from abortion to immediate repentance?
  • "people are forced to make decisions" Wrong.  No amount of "force" can ever justify a choice for an intrinsically grave evil such as abortion.  Enzler doesn't acknowledge that those "decisions" are impermissible.  What does that say about his own beliefs regarding abortion?
  • "while we don't agree with the decision" It's not a mere difference of opinion.  Abortion is a mortal sin against God's commands.  Where is the truly pastoral concern?  Where are the Spiritual Works of Rebuking the Sinner, Instructing the Ignorant?
  • "they still need to be welcomed" If one has committed the sin of abortion, they will find this welcome as they enter the confessional and confess this (and all other) mortal sin.  No other "welcome" will do.
If the topic of Enzler's article was "racism" as opposed to "abortion", would he be evincing such moral relativism?  Of course not!  But consider what was written of him in my previous posts.  We see that at the very best, he is less concerned about the murders of 3500 babies daily than he is about amnesty for border-crashers, etc.  Of course there are big bucks to be had from the latter.  The tiny babies?  Not so much!

I've been blogging on such mess for several years now.  Still I find it difficult to believe that a Catholic priest could vomit forth such pablum.  Consider that he's CEO of Catholic Charities.  Does he occupy this position despite his position - or because of it?  I suspect the latter.  This, and other problems with Catholic Charities, makes it an organization not worthy of one penny from faithful Catholics.

Islamic Terrorism - Courtesy Of Catholic Charities

Two years ago it was revealed that various Catholic Charities offices in Texas were receiving millions in federal grants to facilitate massive immigration, some of it illegal.  One of those outlets was the one in Dallas.

On Monday, a Somalian immigrant plowed his car into a crowd at Ohio State University, then began stabbing bystanders.  He was shot by a police officer.  ISIS is taking "credit" for the act.  But perhaps ISIS shouldn't hog all the dubious "glory".  Some of that "glory" belongs to Catholic Charities of Dallas.

From Breitbart News we read that the terrorist and his family entered the US through Texas and were resettled by Catholic Charities in June 2014.  This is yet another illustration why nations who seek reasonable security at their borders are not to be demonized by progressives in the Church.  Well, let me rephrase that for they obviously are going to run their mouths about that.  This is why we must oppose them and rebuke them for they play the "useful idiots" for those who seek to destroy civilization.

Catholic Charities CEO (And Other Social Justice Leaders) - Donating To Pro-Abortion Candidates

Let's look at Catholic Charities as a whole.  We see the majority of contributions going towards pro-abort candidates (there are a few pockets of sanity in that list).  Most notably, we see that Msgr John Enzler, president and CEO of Catholic Charities, gave $250 to pro-abortion John Delaney last November and Kathleen Matthews a few months prior.  In addition to being pro-abortion herself, Matthews is the wife of Chris Matthews.

There's more to this Enzler-Matthews situation than meets they eye.  Let me recall some history.  Msgr John Enzler was pastor of Blessed Sacrament in DC.  It sits on the south side of Western Avenue.  On the north side is Chevy Chase MD.  I think it was in the very early part of 2012 that he left Blessed Sacrament to take the reins of Catholic Charities.  In February, despite our many pleas, Chris Matthews did a book-signing at Blessed Sacrament.  The timing of the event was such that caused us to believe that the invitation to Matthews occurred while Enzler was still at Blessed Sacrament.  At any rate, we were there when Matthews appeared and we protested quite unmistakably.  See here for some reports on that.  So now we can see what appears to be a rather cozy relationship between the CEO of Catholic Charities and a prominent pro-abortion "katholyc" couple.

Looking at Just Faith, we see that the little that was contributed went to Barack Obama and John Kerry.  Put the word "Jesuit" in the employer box and you'll see that most of their recipients are pro-aborts, with a few pockets of sanity sprinkled throughout.

There are a number of people named "Charles Short" on this page, but the one of interest is in Rockville, MD.  Currently Special Assistant to the County Executive, he was a director of social concerns for the Archdiocese of Washington.  He recently gave money to pro-abortion Chris Van Hollen as the latter runs for the Senate seat being vacated by Barbara Mikulski.

Let's look at contributions from those who draw paychecks from Catholic University of America.  Stephen Schneck is the Director of the Institute for Policy And Catholic Studies at CUA - at least he was at one time.  In addition to his many other lapses of judgment, he has seen fit to donate solely to pro-abortion politicians.  Why on earth was he ever put in a position where he could corrupt young Catholic minds?

Until very recently, Barbara Early was an associate professor of social work at Catholic University of America.  As you can see at this link, she contributed a total of $1500 to Obama/Biden and four months ago to Clinton/Kaine.  Leah Wortham, a law professor, has contributed thousands to Obama/Biden throughout the years. Eric Jenkins, another professor, gave $2000 to John Kerry.

These people are so-called "movers and shakers" in the "social justice" crowd within the US hierarchy.  As we see where they literally put their money, we get a clear indication regarding their not-so-hidden socialistic and anti-God mindsets.  Their "social justice" is not Catholic by any stretch of the imagination.

Catholic Charities CEO Botches Corporal Works Of Mercy

In the January 14th edition of the Catholic Standard, Msgr John Enzler (CEO of Catholic Charities of of the Archdiocese of Washington) had a piece entitled "Living The Works Of Mercy"; the online version is here.  It is ostensibly a "self-evaluation" to detail how he's implementing the Corporal Works of Mercy.  Something about the recitation of the Seven Corporal Works of Mercy struck me odd.  Therefore I looked up the Corporal Works of Mercy online; see here and here.

As I compared Enzler's list with the other two, I noticed a small but significant difference.  The work known as "shelter the homeless" was swapped for "welcome the stranger".  These two are not equivalent.  The second reveals the agenda of allowing indiscriminate immigration.  When one considers the millions of dollars that Catholic Charities has received from the federal government (which in turn are derived from our tax dollars), one can see that the CEO of a Catholic Charities office might - just might - have a vested interest in insinuating the idea into Catholic minds that the facilitation of indiscriminate amnesty is a teaching of the Catholic Church.  It's not - not by a long stretch.  I link now to a commentary on the thoughts of St Thomas Aquinas on immigration.  Bear in mind that this commentary does cite the appropriate passage in Summa Theologica.

I'm having trouble believing that this tweeking of the Seven Corporal Works of Mercy on the part of Enzler was inadvertent.  He did get all the others right, and they're even listed in the traditional order.  That the CEO of Catholic Charities would dare to misstate one of the Corporal Works of Mercy reeks to high heaven.  At least once a year there is an in-pew collection for Catholic Charities.  I haven't contributed in years due to its many shenanigans - this being merely the latest.

Facilitators Of Illegal Immigration Reject Catholicism For Progressivism

In the face of Obama's scheme to import 10,000 Syrian refuges into the United States, there has been much confusion on the part of Catholics regarding what the United States, as a nation, should do.  Some have opined that we should admit them indiscriminately, prefacing their remarks with "Jesus would welcome the stranger" and "what would Jesus do".  Implicit in their invocation of Jesus' name is that they imagine He would not consider the impact such decisions might have on others.  For instance, they direct these platitudes at governmental officials, urging them to base their policies on a rather simplistic impressions of Our Lord's will.  They fail to consider that governmental officials have as their FIRST priorities the welfare of their citizens.  They have a moral duty to do all they can to protect them from real threats.  And yes, evidence pours in that the Syrians are posing a threat to their host countries.  The attacks on France last week should serve as a stark lesson to us.

Suppose, for example, there was a neighborhood that was plagued by a series of house invasions that occurred when the robbers burst into homes when doors had been opened to them.  A father of a family heard a knock at the door at night.  He calls through the door, asking the visitors what they want, and they stated they needed help and wished to be admitted into the home.  Knowing the neighborhood situation, would the father be wise to believe the visitors?  Of course not.  "But Jesus would welcome the stranger", our good-hearted but weak-thinking friends might chime.  I for one beg to differ.  Would He not approve of the father's solicitude for his family, a solicitude that is enjoined on him by the Sacrament of Matrimony and the Fourth Commandment?  Just as the father of a family have to abide by his God-given priorities, so do those in civil authority.  Their FIRST responsibilities are to their citizens and constituents.  This is NOT rocket science!  Taylor Marshall wrote a piece that is an excellent treatment of this issue, drawing on Aquinas extensively.

Today ISIS released a video that threatens more destruction in Paris and the destruction of the White House.   A few days ago, the DHS confirmed that eight Syrians were taken into custody in Laredo TX.  Five others were arrested in Honduras as they attempted to use stolen passports.

So now Obama wants to allow muslim Syrians into the United States.  Why, then, does he refuse to allow Christian and Yazidi refugees to enter the US?  His bigotry against Christians is obvious and despicable.

Too many Catholic officials, carrying on like aging hippies with stars in their eyes, steadfastly refuse to acknowledge the truth and cling to their romantized notions of the "poor immigrants" with themselves as their noble saviors.  In the midst of their semi-annual meeting in Baltimore, the US bishops pompously announce their calls for de facto open borders while chiding the governors who are following the maxims of Aquinas.  Not to be outdone by the USCCB, the Maryland Catholic Conference put forth this laughable press release as it appears in the Catholic Standard.  A little aside.  Today I did not receive my issue in the mail.  I think it's fascinating that my delivery is either missed or late when one of these whoppers is published in the paper.  But I digress!

Anyway, there is the typical call for "compassion" (selective compassion, since non-muslims aren't allowed admittance).  The MCC goes on to tout the praises (?) of the Catholic Relief Services, saying that they have "a rich history of serving potential refuges in their native land".  Really?  CRS has been caught red-handed distributing condoms and abortifacients in Africa - not merely funding said distribution, but CRS personnel themselves distributing these tools of mortal sin.  They retained a "same-sex married" man as a vice president, knowing of his immoral lifestyle.  Read here for a whole litany of their horrid endeavors and search the Lepanto Institute for more details.  Here's a snapshot of their income statement for the fiscal year ended 9/30/2014.  Notice that almost half their funding came from governmental grants: that is, our tax dollars!  I suppose that's the "rich" part of their history.

Then the MCC crows about Catholic Charities.  Yes - same Catholic Charities that:
Catholic Charities is one of the groups charged by the Obama cartel to help "settle" the Syrians as they invade arrive here.  There's most likely more than altruistic motivation for them to do so. Recall last summer when it was discovered that the feds had extended to Catholic Charities offices in Texas over $17 million in grants to take in refugees.  Wanna bet they're getting a nice chunk of change now?  Again, that's our tax dollars.  Just as they botched the three incidents listed above, they botched big-time this past week.

The Catholic Charities in Louisiana helped settle one such individual - and then lost track of him.  Governor Jindal insisted that Obama give him info on those that are being shipped to his state; he probably knows better than to hold his breath waiting.  But the story gets more interesting!  Lo and behold, the Louisiana government learned that this refugee had gone to Washington DC.  Now consider:
  • He is supposedly a poor destitute refugee.  Yet he has the wherewithal to get off the boat and hightail it to Washington DC.  It sounds like he had some direction and resources to make the trip.  The distance between LA and DC is approximately 1100 miles.  How did he afford the transportation and other travel expenses?
  • Recall from earlier in this post that ISIS made threats against the White House.  Did this "poor refugee" come up here to participate?  Was he ordered to do so?
I've received word that the House of Representatives voted today (by a veto-proof majority) to put a pause on Obama's scheme to import these refugees.  Let us pray that the Senate jumps on board.   Speaking of the House, I don't know if Trey Gowdy is Catholic or not, but he seems to have an inate grasp of Aquinas' thinking on immigration.

I'll end this rather long post with a video by Ann Corcoran detailing her research on refugee resettlement.

Why It's Inherently Sinful For Catholic Groups To Accept (Let Alone Seek) Government Funding

And as we know, sin always has consequences in the afterlife and often in this present life.

Ladies and gentlemen, the basis of this post's title is found right in the Seventh Commandment: Thou Shalt Not Steal.  It doesn't matter if the stealing is sanctioned by law (after all, is not baby-murder and sodomy now sanctioned by law?), stealing is still sin.  It is NOT an acceptable venue for "charity", for true charitable giving must stem from an act of free will, not governmental extortion.

Why don't Catholic charitable organizations accept that truth?  Lured by the smell of what they perceived to be "easy money" (and with the connivance of leaders with marxist mindsets), many Catholic organizations took the bait - and on account of their own shortsightedness and stupidity, fell into a rather obvious trap.  When President Bush rammed through his ill-advised "faith-based intiative" nonsense, many of us saw the pitfalls but failed to make others see them.  The fact that at the time a relatively benign president was at the helm lulled them into a false illusion of assurance and complacency.  Now that illusion has been shattered and the lemmings are now howling.

From ChurchMilitant.com we read news of the sprung trap.  Here's the first sentence: "A source within the federal government has informed the Friday Fax that the White House is quietly moving forward with a policy change that will require charitable humanitarian groups to accept LGBT applicants in order to qualify for government funding, even those religious groups that might have religious objections."  Naturally there's whining and gnashing of teeth.  Many of these "faith-based" recipients are crying "foul" when they've been playing foul all along by accepting funding that has been bilked from the wallets of already-strapped taxpayers.  Boys and girls, can we say "crocodile tears?"

We've seen in this blog alone many examples of the anti-Catholic actions of Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Campaign for Human Development.  It is no accident that these agencies derives a significant percentage, if not majority, of their funds from governmental agencies at various levels of government.  In order to keep the federal faucets flowing into their coffers, these organizations have literally sold their Catholic souls and in many cases are working to advance anti-life and anti-God agendas.  They probably have the blood of many unborn babies and the damnation of countless souls to their credit - all for the receipt of the proverbial "thirty pieces of silver".

The real solution to this dilemma is simple and necessary, although it won't be easy.  We see it in the first sentence of the article, particularly the underscored portion.  Here it is, spelled out.  Stop seeking after and accepting government funding - NOW!  These groups cannot have it "both ways"; you accept the government's money by accepting their rules.  That's a fact of life.  The charities must decouple from the feds at once if they are to maintain true independence from governmental interference.  They must stop playing the little piglets and  immediately wean themselves immediately from governmental teats.  They must accept the fact that if they cannot fund their ventures from voluntary donations, the venture is not theirs to undertake.  Of course they can stop paying salaries of several hundred thousands of dollars to their CEOs and other perks.

If they insist on salivating after government funds, they deserve all the grief from government that they can get - and not one red cent from true Catholics.

Church's Charitable Umbrella Organizations Are Decidedly Uncharitable

During the past two days I linked to stories detailing how the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and Catholic Charities are serving anti-life agendas.  Unfortunately the accounts of their misuse of Catholic money continue to accumulate, and the Catholic Relief Services seems to be following suit.

The Lepanto Institute recently exposed the production by Catholic Relief Services of a sex-education program in Rwanda.  It promotes the usage of abortifacients, contraceptives, masturbation and homosexuality.  The program is called "My Changing Body" and it is produced in partnership with Georgetown University's Institute for Reproductive Health.  Ostensibly Georgetown used to be Catholic, but it too has jettisoned all authentic Catholicism from its life and is Catholic in name only.  The Lepanto site links to their full report on "My Changing Body"and has screenshots of some of the material used by that program.  It is immoral, anti-life - and funded with Catholic donations.

The Lepanto Institute learned something brand-new about the CCHD this week.  We know from many years of their misbehaviors that they've funded all sorts of anti-life and socialistic ventures, but apparently "community organizing" has taken a new turn - marijuana farms!  This is occurring in California (of course!).  The California Center for Cooperative Development received $50k to start some "medical marijuana cooperatives".  Next we hear they'll be starting some avant-garde opium dens or safe-haven needle exchange projects - oh wait! - Catholic Charities beat them to it several years ago!

Speaking of Catholic Charities, they have a new president - Sister Donna Markham.  She worked for a while at Georgetown University (there's that name again!) and then became prioress of the Adrian Dominicans.  Under her less-than-illustrious leadership, this order joined the Catholic Health Association and helped ramrod through Obamacare, in direct opposition to the bishops.  She's been associated with the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, serving a term as its president.  When the Vatican launched its investigation into the LCWR, she waxed both arrogant and indignant at the Church for so doing.  Such is Catholic Charities' leadership.

I do want to highlight a few things about CCHD's ongoing linkage to Alinskyian community organizing.  It is alive and well; one must remember that CCHD was founded with the express purpose of funding socialistic and atheistic endeavors with the contribution dollars of unwitting Catholics.  My colleague Stephanie Block has done much work in exposing these "community organizing" outfits for the menaces that they are.  In this piece she exposes the linkage between the Industrial Areas Foundation with illegal immigration.  Recall that a few days ago I exposed the misdeeds of Action In Montgomery.  AIM was front-and-center with the left-wing as they were shilling for the DREAM Act a year or two ago in Maryland.  AIM is an IAF affiliate.  In her next piece detailing the Senate campaign of rabid pro-abort Loretta Sanchez and IAF's support for her, Stephanie details how Sanchez's supporters relied on the votes of newly-naturalized aliens to defeat pro-life Bob Dornan for the US Congress.

Many Catholics are unaware (or they won't accept) that their contributions to Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services and/or Catholic Campaign for Human Development actually serve to undermine the Church and facilitate death and destruction, both spiritually and physically.  It's time to say #no2cchd, #no3crs and #no2cathcharities.
