Catholic Relief Services Funding Pro-Abortionists In Mexico

In yesterday's post, I linked to an excellent article penned by Christopher Manion that outlined (among other things) the Holy Father's expectations regarding Catholic charitable institutions.  Three that come to mind are: Catholic Campaign for Human Development, Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Charities.  The alert individual will note that all three fall abysmally short of the standards set forth by the Magisterium for the conduct of Catholic charity.  Note, too, that the first two entities operate completely under the auspices of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Manion's points seem to be underscored by today's article from LifeSite News.  Apparently Catholic Relief Services is funding a number of pro-abortion organizations in Mexico.  I've written a number of times about the less-than-stellar activities of the Catholic Relief Services.

Sometimes the Church's worst enemies can be found within her structures.  When that happens, the only remedy, besides prayer, is to starve the tumors.  That means to cut off any and all donations to Catholic Campaign for Human Development, Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Charities.

Catholic Relief Services VP - A Flagrant Sodomite

The Lepanto Institute broke the news that the current Vice President of Overseas Finance for Catholic Relief Services, Rick Estridge, entered into a mockery of marriage with his sodomite accomplice, William Goretsas.  Lepanto has a copy of the Maryland marriage license on their page.  The legal travesty happened over two years ago.  Lepanto also has numerous screen shots from Estridge's Facebook and Linkedin profiles that show Estridge to be, well, "out and proud" regarding his promotion of perversion - and his thumbing of nose at Catholic moral teaching.

The Facebook and Linkedin accounts are deactivated as of today.  Presumably that was done in a lame attempt at damage control.  It appears that he hasn't completely cleaned up his Twitter account. (UPDATE!  That's gone, too!)  We see that he is following both Michelle and Barack Obama as well as Ellen Degeneres.

At any rate, given his rather high-profile flaunting of his mortal sin, no reasonable person can gainsay that Estridge's objectively sinful status wasn't known by the higher-ups inside the Catholic Relief Services.  For over two years, Catholic Relief Services - the same that pretends to uphold Catholic moral teachings - has harbored within its ranks of power a known sodomite.  If the CRS directors have allowed this to fester in their midst for over two years, what does that say about their own loyalty to the Catholic Church and to Jesus Christ Himself?

Will John Rivera (or whoever now occupies the none-too-enviable position of CRS Director of Communications) go all-out into damage control mode as he tried to do three years ago (and miserably flopped)?  What will the leadership of CRS do about this highly-placed official who is flouting Church teaching and contributing to the ongoing lie that is its "mission statement"?  I think we all know the answer to that - zilch, zip, nadda!

I think we also have a glimpse regarding the reason why the upcoming March for Marriage on Saturday the 25th has received so little support from the two Maryland archdiocese.  Yes, a few parishes have heroically promoted this march, but they are few and far between.

It is my opinion that the Catholic Relief Services is jaded beyond repair.  In fact, the same can be said for the entire United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.  The whole apparatus needs to be dismantled.  In the meantime, do not drop one red cent into any collection that is held for the benefit of CCHD, CRS, Catholic Charities or anything masterminded by the USCCB.

Catholic Relief FUND????

Having been at the Mount picket yesterday and then focused on the video and blog post (to be published very soon), I was not paying attention to the second collection schedule.  I should have, for I know full well that the Catholic Relief Services second collection occurs in May.

I was immediately alerted to that when, during the announcements right after the Creed, it was announced that the second collection would be "for the benefit of the Catholic Relief Fund".  I realized immediately that this name-change was an attempt to obfuscate the name "Catholic Relief Services", much like the name "Catholic Communications and Human Development" is intended to mask the real intent of that collection, that to fund the CCHD.

Immediately I got out pen and paper and jotted a note, saying that I will not contribute to CRS as long as they participate in the distribution of contraceptives and signed my name.  I dropped that in the second collection basket.  As the collection was taken, we were thanked for our support of the "Catholic Relief Fund".  So again that bogus name was used.

After Mass, I checked the Archdiocesan website, and sure enough, today is the day on which the second collection is for the Catholic Relief Services.

I went into the lobby and noticed the CRS envelopes next to the song booklets.  I asked Father about that strange wording and he replied that was what was written in his notes.  I've no doubt about that and he was merely announcing what he had been told to announce via the notes.  The question remains is, who dictated the contents of those notes?  While it's true that we do have some Spanish-speaking people in the parish offices, I cannot see how any confusion between "fund" and "services" could have occurred in any translation.  In Spanish, fund is "el fondo" and service is "el servicio".  That translation would be impossible to confuse.

So...  Who ordered that change from "services" to "fund", and why????

Did anyone else notice similar anomalies?

Bishop Lynch Defends Soros-Funded Catholic Relief Services

In the past few weeks Catholic Relief Services has shown its true colors (that is, anti-God and anti-life colors) by allowing, if not outright directing its personnel to distribute abortifacients in Madagascar.  Of course it earned well-deserved rebukes.  The progressive cartel within the bowels of ecclesiastic bureaucracy seemed to have received their marching orders and speaking points for now they are leaping to the defense of those USCCB organs that are funneling money towards the culture of death.

The latest to attempt "damage-control" is none other than Bishop Robert Lynch of the Diocese of St Petersburg FL.  I now link to an article that he posted on his blog this past Wednesday.   I won't pick apart the whole thing, lest I be here all night.  But I will point out one or two things, in light of his own chequered past.

He snidely refers to the Population Research Institute (a branch of Human Life International) as "an allegedly pro-life group" and many others (probably Yours Truly) as "notoriously and consistently wrong entities who thrive on attacking the Church or its entities".  If he's looking for examples of malfeasance by "allegedly pro-life entities", perhaps he need look no further than his own doings eight years ago.

It was a little over eight years ago that Terri Schindler Schiavo was murdered - "legally", of course - within his own diocese.  Not only did he do nothing to prevent it, but he went so far as to suggest that the final word regarding Terri's fate "rightly" lay in the hands of her murderous husband who was already living with his then-concubine.  One year later, American Life League interviewed Terri's family and posted it online.  It details further insulted meted to the Schindlers by Bishop Lynch.  And the bishop has the audacity to say that we are the allegedly pro-life ones???

But perhaps there's more to Bishop Lynch's posturings than meets the eye.  As with many things progressive these days, there seems to be a common denominator.  That "common denominator" has a name - George Soros.

My Catholic Media Coalition colleague, herself a Florida resident, posted an article sometime before Terri died that examines some of the key villains in that situation and some of the money trail.  Yes, Bishop Lynch is one of the villains.  To supplement this article, I'd suggest reading this blog piece entitled Soros and Schiavo.  This delves more into the history of George Soros' involvement in the pro-euthanasia movement in the US.

But anti-life groups aren't the only recipients of Soros' largess!  Why, he's been known to give to Catholic groups, too.  Well, some "katholyc" groups - those that serve as fronts for the Culture of Death!  Five years ago, Discoverthenetworks detailed how Soros money had infested the Church.  Chris Korzen of Catholics United tried to deflect some criticism of Bill Donohue by whining that Soros "contributes to Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Legal Immigration Services".  Donohue erred a bit by implying that those three weren't apologists for abortion.  Perhaps Donohue had not heard that Catholic Charities of Richmond VA was under federal investigation for paying for a minor's abortion (with full knowledge of Richmond Bishop DiLorenzo).  And of course Donohue's statement was long before the CRS aided and abetted murder in Madagascar.

Now perhaps the reader is wondering why I italicized the words "Catholic Relief Services".  At the time that Terri Schiavo was being murdered in Florida, guess who was the board chair of CRS?  Yes - Bishop Robert Lynch.  Please don't tell me he had no idea whatsoever of the Soros money flowing into CRS coffers - and probably still is.  In situations such as this, another version of the "golden rule" is in force, that is, "he who has the gold, rules".  As long as they accept Soros "gold", they accept Soros "rule"; sadly I think they accept both all too willingly.

Catholic Relief Services IS Aiding/Abetting Murder

Today, on the 45 anniversary of the promulgation of Humanae Vitae, LifeSitenews has broadcast the news that Catholic Relief Service personnel are distributing contraceptives and abortifacient drugs/devices in Madagascar.  Their report can be read here; please note that they in turn link to a report by Population Research Institute.

It is this latter group (a branch of Human Life International) that has conducted a month-long investigation on site in Madagascar and has interviewed NGO workers and officials - including CRS personnel.  Their report states that CRS employs over 250 community health workers there who distribute contraceptives and abortifacients under the name of "Catholic Relief Services".  A CRS zone supervisor confirmed this information.  Steven Mosher, president of PRI, asks "how many children have been aborted or contracepted out of existence by CRS?"  I urge the readers of this blog to read both the LifeSiteNews posts.  For now I'll focus on Mosher's question.

First, let's understand that an abortifacient is a drug or device that prevents the newly-conceived baby from implanting in his/her mother's womb.  That child is subsequently expelled from the mother's body during her next period.  This is abortion - that is the deliberate taking of an innocent life.  We've just described a murder.  Of course all abortions are acts of murder.  I find it difficult to believe that these CRS personnel who are engaged in the distribution of these poisons are unaware of the nature of these things - particularly those CRS personnel in positions of authority and responsibility.

That said, I'm going to dispense with the silly verbal tap-dance and tippy-toeing with "delicate and diplomatic" language.  I'll paraphrase Mosher's question a bit with "how many children have been murdered with assistance by and intention of CRS"?  Let's cut to the chase, shall we?  For that is exactly what the Catholic Relief Services is doing!

If the Catholic Relief Services is serious about following the moral precepts of Christ and His Church, they'll recognize that one cannot do evil in the vain hopes that good will come of it.  At the very least, those who have participated in these mortal sins of murder must cease and desist immediately.  They must go to Confession for they have placed their immortal souls in danger of damnation.  The board of directors of CRS might do well to suspend all operations until they can root out the rot.  Of course "rooting out the rot" may very well mean that the CRS should be abolished in its entirety.  If such is the case, so be it.

With each passing year, the words of Humanae Vitae ring ever more true.  Pope Paul VI foresaw the spread of abortion and disregard for human life if contraception were ever to gain a foothold.  I wonder if he had any inkling that agencies within the Catholic Church would be participating in these grave sins?

Boycott The Catholic Relief Services Collection This Weekend

In most dioceses across the nation, the second collection at Masses on Sunday March 30 will benefit the Catholic Relief Services.  Locally, both the Archdiocese of Baltimore and the Archdiocese of Washington will be collecting for the CRS.  The CRS is under the direct control of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

As you can see by my link, there have been multiple moral failings of the Catholic Relief Services, such as direct distributions of condoms, employing an openly "gay-married" man as a vice president, creating a "health network" in Africa that includes abortionists, etc.

Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) exposed the fact that CRS has been heavily funded by USAid.  Fortunately that is now drying up.  The CRS now needs to go away completely.  Please do NOT give them one red cent of your money this coming weekend.

Lepanto Institute has done much work in exposing the Catholic Relief Services.  Additionally, they have materials that you can place in the second collection when that basket is placed in front of your face.

Let's allow this faux-Catholic cabal to die its ignominious death.

Church's Charitable Umbrella Organizations Are Decidedly Uncharitable

During the past two days I linked to stories detailing how the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and Catholic Charities are serving anti-life agendas.  Unfortunately the accounts of their misuse of Catholic money continue to accumulate, and the Catholic Relief Services seems to be following suit.

The Lepanto Institute recently exposed the production by Catholic Relief Services of a sex-education program in Rwanda.  It promotes the usage of abortifacients, contraceptives, masturbation and homosexuality.  The program is called "My Changing Body" and it is produced in partnership with Georgetown University's Institute for Reproductive Health.  Ostensibly Georgetown used to be Catholic, but it too has jettisoned all authentic Catholicism from its life and is Catholic in name only.  The Lepanto site links to their full report on "My Changing Body"and has screenshots of some of the material used by that program.  It is immoral, anti-life - and funded with Catholic donations.

The Lepanto Institute learned something brand-new about the CCHD this week.  We know from many years of their misbehaviors that they've funded all sorts of anti-life and socialistic ventures, but apparently "community organizing" has taken a new turn - marijuana farms!  This is occurring in California (of course!).  The California Center for Cooperative Development received $50k to start some "medical marijuana cooperatives".  Next we hear they'll be starting some avant-garde opium dens or safe-haven needle exchange projects - oh wait! - Catholic Charities beat them to it several years ago!

Speaking of Catholic Charities, they have a new president - Sister Donna Markham.  She worked for a while at Georgetown University (there's that name again!) and then became prioress of the Adrian Dominicans.  Under her less-than-illustrious leadership, this order joined the Catholic Health Association and helped ramrod through Obamacare, in direct opposition to the bishops.  She's been associated with the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, serving a term as its president.  When the Vatican launched its investigation into the LCWR, she waxed both arrogant and indignant at the Church for so doing.  Such is Catholic Charities' leadership.

I do want to highlight a few things about CCHD's ongoing linkage to Alinskyian community organizing.  It is alive and well; one must remember that CCHD was founded with the express purpose of funding socialistic and atheistic endeavors with the contribution dollars of unwitting Catholics.  My colleague Stephanie Block has done much work in exposing these "community organizing" outfits for the menaces that they are.  In this piece she exposes the linkage between the Industrial Areas Foundation with illegal immigration.  Recall that a few days ago I exposed the misdeeds of Action In Montgomery.  AIM was front-and-center with the left-wing as they were shilling for the DREAM Act a year or two ago in Maryland.  AIM is an IAF affiliate.  In her next piece detailing the Senate campaign of rabid pro-abort Loretta Sanchez and IAF's support for her, Stephanie details how Sanchez's supporters relied on the votes of newly-naturalized aliens to defeat pro-life Bob Dornan for the US Congress.

Many Catholics are unaware (or they won't accept) that their contributions to Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services and/or Catholic Campaign for Human Development actually serve to undermine the Church and facilitate death and destruction, both spiritually and physically.  It's time to say #no2cchd, #no3crs and #no2cathcharities.

Catholic Relief Services - Ingredient In The Depopulation Bomb

Below I'll post a Vortex video that details some results from the contraceptive, anti-life culture.  These are results that are now apparent; it seems that some countries are beginning to wake up, but will it be too little, too late?  Keep in mind the previous post that shows how Africans and other poorer people are being targeted for elimination.

Aiding and abetting this targeted genocide is none other than Catholic Relief Services.  Long-time readers of this blog will recall that we've shown the spotlight on their distribution of contraceptive and abortifacient items.  Read here for the archive.  This is no mere coincidence.  Catholic Relief Services is heavily funded by George Soros; the other main funder is USAID.  Catholic Relief Services, at the very least, is allowing itself to be used as tools for the furtherance of eugenics.  However, I would not be the least bit surprised if the upper-level management isn't fully aware and approving of those activities.  Consider the way that Ken Hackett was rewarded by Obama for his ten-year term as director of CRS.

We can whine all we want about the nefarious forces outside the Church.  But if we're going to be successful in any manner, we must expunge the culture of death from within Mother Church.  The abolition of the entire United States Conference of Catholic Bishops should be one of the first steps in that purification.

Now the video..

Why Catholic Conferences May Be Mum Regarding Planned Parenthood Funding

Yesterday the US Senate voted to pass H.J. Resolution 43, undoing Obama's executive order that forced states to fund Planned Parenthood.  It was a split vote, with the Vice President breaking the tie.  Last month it passed the House by a 230-188 vote split.  It now heads to President Trump's desk.  This bill does not cut Planned Parenthood funding in and of itself; rather, it allows states to do so.  A number of them have already passed such defunding measures.

A little "aside" for my #nevertrump friends.  You do realize that if you had your way, states would still be forced to fund Planned Parenthood, don't you?  Deep down in your hearts, aren't you glad you didn't have your way?  Let this be a lesson to you.  As additional examples arise, I will be pointing these out to you!

Getting back to the main point of this post, state governments now take back control of their Title X funds and they now have the option of denying funding to the largest baby-killing racket in the nation, if not the world.  I hope many states seize that opportunity.  Alas, other states are infested with anti-life liberals and progressives.  My home state of Maryland is one of them.  I wrote last Saturday of the effort underway by pro-baby-murder politicians to fund Planned Parenthood.  In that piece I also wrote of the de facto cooperation with these progressives that the Maryland Catholic Conference intends to give them.  I speculated as to the cause(s) of the MCC's despicable stance, wondering if funding for some of their pet "social justice" goals hung in the balance.  The video released by Michael Hichborn now causes me to fear that the reasons for MCC's lack of actions may be even more perfidious.

Deal Hudson had an article published today in Newsmax entitled "Catholic Bishops Caught In Conflict Of Interest Over Immigration".  In the fifth paragraph down, we see that Catholic Relief Services received over $400 million from the Obama administration in 2016.  In Obama's first year, he increased CRS funding by over $120 million.  Hudson also mentioned that Planned Parenthood received approximately the same amount from the feds; he mentions it as a coincidence but maybe it's more than a mere coincidence.

So what does Catholic Relief Services have to do with Maryland Catholic Conference?  Well, they're both headquartered in Maryland.  CRS is directly controlled by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and the MCC takes many leads from the USCCB.  Six years ago, the USCCB did lobby for the defunding of Planned Parenthood.  This month it was utterly silent regarding H.J. Resolution 43.  Why the change?

The video below is that of Michael Hichborn giving a talk at the "Bringing America Back To Life" summit held in Cleveland earlier this month.  The title of his talk is "Catholic Charities And The Culture Of Death".  He details how Catholic "social justice" groups (under control by the US hierarchy) have compromised their missions to the point of participating actively in the Culture of Death.  He focuses heavily on Catholic Relief Services.  Pay very close attention to the 15:55 mark, when he reveals how CRS actually partnered with Planned Parenthood.  Just how close have the tentacles of Planned Parenthood gotten into the inner sanctums of the US Catholic establishment?  Can this be some explanation of the inaction of both the USCCB and MCC regarding the various battles over Planned Parenthood funding?  To my readers: what, if anything, have your state Catholic Conferences been doing about your states' funding of Planned Parenthood?  Please advise via the comments box.

If you have one of those lenten rice bowl things and have been dropping change into it, please empty it and give that money to an organization that is fighting for the Culture of Life.

BREAKING - Catholic Relief Service VP In Same Sex Marriage Resigns

Lepanto Institute posted an announcement released by the Catholic Relief Services this afternoon.  Rick Estridge, the Vice President for Overseas Finance at the CRS - and a sodomite in a "same-sex marriage" has resigned his position.  Lepanto has some worthwhile discussion on the matter, as CRS heaped praise upon Estridge as they announced the retirement.

One might ask if CRS's announcement would have sung Estridge's praise had he been a white supremist or involved in drug trafficking. We think not.  Moreover, this resignation would not have taken over a month to have happened.  It would have happened in mid-April when Lepanto first broke the story, at the latest.  Ideally it would have happened much sooner than that, when CRS officials learned of Estridge's perversion and disregard for God's laws concerning marriage.

Please don't take this as a sign that Catholic Relief Services has finally seen the light.  They're in damage-control mode here.  They must have seen a drop in their donations; perhaps the May in-pew collection suffered as a result of their latest scandal.  The number of scandals at Catholic Relief Services is legion, and that number will increase since it's merely an arm of the likewise ill-begotten United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.  These beasts need to be starved; donote not one penny to them.

First Sunday In Lent - Time To #sayno2crs - Boycott Operation Rice Bowl

Today and tomorrow mark the First Sunday of Lent 2017.  This is the weekend when the ubiquitous Catholic Relief Services rice bowls will sprout like kudzu in the lobbies of most Catholic parishes in the United States.  Last year many of us Catholic bloggers urged a boycott of this CRS collection.  When we do so, we always hope that the offending target of the boycott will heed the message of the boycott and take corrective measures to make themselves more worthy of Catholic donations.  Alas, our hopes are dashed this year as CRS has proven itself to be even more unworthy of Catholic dollars than they were last year.

So what have been the lowlights of the Catholic Relief Services since Lent of 2016?
Such are the relatively current scandals of the CRS.  For some of their older scandals, see here, here, here (with some videos), here (w/more videos).  You can also put "crs" or "Catholic Relief Services" in the search box at the top left to see much more material.  The scandals abound.

Last year I suggested a way to do an effective boycott of the rice-bowl effort. I reiterate the suggestion below.
  • Pick up one of those "rice bowls" from your church lobby and assemble it.
  • At the bottom of the Lepanto article is a note that you can use to let CRS know why you'll not contribute.
  • Place that note in your now-assembled "rice bowl".  I intend to sign mine, but that's optional.
  • When your parish announces that it's time to return the rice bowls to church, please do so. Yours will have the note and no money.
So why are the scandals so numerous?  I suspect that CRS, like its cousin CCHD, was never founded to be truly conformable with the Catholic mission of saving souls.  Please participate in our boycott and urge your family and friends to do the same.  Feel free to post this blog post to your own sites.  CRS is a beast that needs to be starved to death.

Catholic Relief Services Arrogantly Defends Its Disregard For Jesus' Moral Teachings

The Lepanto Institute reports on an interview between John Burger of Aleteia and Carolyn Woo, president of Catholic Relief Services.  Burger asked her about the many instances where CRS was caught partnering with organizations dealing in abortion, sterilization and contraceptives.  He also touched upon Richard Estridge, the CRS vice president who was exposed as being in a "gay marriage" for two years - and who still retains his position.

In typical progressive fashion, Woo describes as "attacks" our discovery and exposure of CRS derelictions of Catholic duty.  When queried about CRS's squalid association with anti-life organizations, she replie (with my comments in red):

"The type of attacks come in three forms. The first is: Why do we work with other organizations which don’t follow Catholic Church teaching?… So when we have responsibilities for these types of activities, for the scope of these activities, if we don’t reach out to other partners who have coverage of those territories, we are basically leaving a big swath of population unattended. … If we don’t collaborate with other agencies, we are leaving those people without any hospitals or clinics or access to those medications"  Our first concern as Catholics is to save souls.  Any other concern, while important, is secondary and ancillary to the overriding concern for eternal salvation.  There is no indication of any such concern in Woo's remarks.  The activities of CRS, in legitimizing contraception and abortion, may well be leading souls to eternal damnation.

In dealing with the CRS vice president who is in a "same-sex marriage", Woo trips over herself during her verbal tap-dance.  "CRS has a senior person who is in a civil gay marriage, and the question is, Is that a violation of Church teaching?  I just want to say we are working through this."  As I said in a previous post, if the person was found to be a member of the Ku Klux Klan, there would be no "question", no "working through this".  He would have been out on his ear in a heartbeat.  If Woo really has to ask if it's a violation of Church teaching, she should be handed her pink slip as well.

Catholic Relief Services is showing itself to be a thinly-disguised front group for all sorts of progressives.  It can be argued that CRS is merely the international version of Catholic Campaign for Human Development.  Both are under the direct control of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.  The whole apparatus is showing itself to be quite the devil's liar and should be unceremoniously scuttled at once.

Operation Rice Bowl - Leave That Bowl Empty

We're well into Lent.  Many of us have seen in our church lobbies the ubiquitous "Operation Rice Bowls" - the cardboard contraptions into which we're asked to deposit our money for eventual donation to Catholic Relief Services.  However, we have seen in the the past two years that Catholic Relief Services has funneled large parts of its funds to those who foster abortion and contraceptives.  We've even learned of CRS employees directly participating in the promotion of these mortal sins.  Catholic Relief Services, like the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, is under the direct control of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.  The ills that the CCHD funds locally are the same ones that the CRS funds internationally.

Please do NOT drop one penny into those boxes.  Instead, why not give your donations to a local crisis pregnancy center or directly to a soup kitchen?  Your money will be put to moral and efficient use that way.

PRI Calls For Abolition Of Catholic Relief Services

The Population Research Institute, an arm of Human Life International, has done yeoman's work in exposing the abysmal pro-abortion filth that emanates from the Catholic Relief Services.  CRS has been acting as a de facto branch of USAID instead of the Catholic Church: hence its blatant disregard for the authority of the bishops of Madagascar.  Now PRI asks that the bishops dissolve the Catholic Relief Services.

Hear!  Hear!

I would only add that the entire USCCB itself (along with the state conferences) should be abolished. Pope Benedict made clear that national Catholic conferences have no inherent ecclesiastical authority and ours has shown itself to be a progressive front organization through and through. The antics of the CRS and CCHD are merely manifestations of the rot and corruption that has governed the USCCB since its inception in the mid-20th century.

Voris Nails The Liberal Bishops Again - CRS Part Of Problem

In this Vortex, you'll hear more expose on the overly-chummy relationships between the progressive/atheist elements and the liberal bishops.  Note that at the 6:10 mark, Voris points to the "ever-growing scandal at the Catholic Relief Services" - more on that after the clip.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Last month I reported on a most serious CRS scandal, where CRS was caught giving $5.3 million to CARE, a group distributing contraception and abortifacients to women in developing countries and lobbying for abortion.  You'll notice John Rivera, communications director for CRS, commenting on my post.  In actuality, all he was doing was posting some standard talking points, one of them a misquote of John Haas.  Mr Haas himself refuted that.  Rivera tried the same trick on Michael Voris; happily it backfired big-time.

Naturally CRS has questionable leadership.  See this post from last year on their CEO.  Recall also that in 2005, while Terri Schiavo was being slowly murdered in Florida, the local bishop, Robert Lynch, refused to assist her and made clear his sympathies were with the murderous husband.  Bishop Lynch at the time was board president of the CRS.

Now we jump forward to present, because several other scandalous associations of CRS to pro-abortion groups have been uncovered.  The Redstate blog gives the details.

Catholic Relief Services is a dues-paying member of CORE, (to the tune of $3k/year) and several CRS officials co-chair CORE's HIV/AIDS "working group" and sit on the board of directors of CORE.  Over 50% of its budget funds "family planning" and contraception.

CRS forks over another $3k/year in dues to MEDICAM and is a member of that organization's steering committee.  CRS participated in MEDICAM's Position Paper for 2011.  Note that "NGO Best Practice Component 4" is "safe abortion".  The Redstate blog lists other occasions of CRS joining in MEDICAM's advocacy of abortion.  Please research them.

There are some who argue that the Catholic Relief Services is an organization that has stood above the scandals that have plagued CCHD and Catholic Charities.  Sadly such is not the case.  They too are funneling money (largely from donations of Catholics or from federal funding, that is, your tax dollars) to organizations that serve the culture of death.  Whereas the CCHD funds inimical organizations within the United States, it seems that the CRS is sending money to equally deadly organizations outside the US.

Catholic Relief Services - Proud To Be Ashamed Of The Gospel

Over the years I have had too many occasions to write about the scandals of Catholic Relief Services.  Some of their actions have been outright murderous, as several of their workers in Africa have been caught dispensing abortifacients.

Therefore, it surprises me not in the least to hear that Bill O'Keefe, CRS's vice president for government relations and advocacy, told CNN that "..we do not attempt to engage in discussions of faith.  We're proud of that..."   Father Shenan Boquet, president of Human Life International, chided CRS for not sharing the Gospel while praising them for "serving the poor and marginalized".  I believe Father was being way too generous to CRS; whatever else "serving the poor" may mean, it does not mean inducing them to practice contraception.

Now notice this lovely statement came from their vp for government relations.  Most telling!  When one considers that CRS receives over 60% of its funding from USAID, we can see how O'Keefe might have wanted to keep his sugar-daddies happy.  Considering how little of the Faith CRS knows or believes, it might be just as well they keep their yaps shut, lest they spew forth all manners of heresies.

Catholic Relief Services, like its parent organization, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, is beyond repair.  It's time to dismantle the whole sorry mess.

Marshall And Hichborn On Social Justice Hoax And What You Can Do About It

Michael Hichborn has done extensive research over the years regarding "social justice" in the Catholic Church and the dangers that it poses to the eternal salvation of countless souls.  My Catholic Media Coalition colleague, Stephanie Block, also has done similar research; in fact, Hichborn acknowledges her contributions at the 31-minute mark of the video below.

In this video, Taylor Marshall interviews Hichborn regarding the shams that are the three main vehicles of this so-called "social justice".  They are: Catholic Campaign for Human Development, Catholic Relief Services, and Catholic Charities.  While the video is long, I think it worth your while to listen closely to the whole thing.  We are obliged to inform ourselves of these matters, and we simply must invest the time to do so.

A word to Catholics in the Archdiocese of Washington.  I now link to the schedule for the second collections in 2019.  Please note these three approaching collections:
  • May 12 - Catholic Relief Services.  For reasons discussed in this video, and many more, this (and the on-going Rice Bowl collection) must be boycotted.
  • June 23 - Peter's Pence.  In light of recent revelations regarding the stench that is in the Vatican, we dare not feed the corruption with our hard-earned dollars.
  • August 4 - Catholic Campaign for Human Development.  Hichborn mentioned in the video that they try to disguise this collection.  That's why they call it "Catholic Communications and Human Development?.  Whom do they think they are fooling?
Very soon I will give some practical suggestions on notes to put into the envelopes, etc.  For now, please pay close attention to this video and spread this around.  Thank you.

CCHD And CRS - Two Different Standards?

The blog Societas Restituo Catholicam highlighted some apparent discrepancies between recent behaviors of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and the Catholic Relief Services.  The CCHD withdrew a grant of $48,000 to the Land Stewardship Project because the latter is a member of two coalitions that are pushing for the promotion of gay pretend-marriage.  SRC contrasts this with the behaviors exhibited by Catholic Relief Services - behaviors that were made known to the public in recent months.

It is my understanding that both CRS and CCHD are agencies operating under the auspices of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.  While they may have different managers and supervisors, they answer to the USCCB.  Here's my off-the-cuff take on the matter.

  • The CCHD has been subject to much more intense scrutiny, and for a longer period, than CRS.  Their collections have suffered accordingly.  Given the same type and duration of examination, CRS would feel similar pressure to conform to Catholic teachings.
  • While the CCHD's conduct in the case of the Land Stewardship Project is what should be expected, this still seems to be the exception rather than the rule.  The recent report put out by ReformCCHDNow bears evidence of that fact.
These two organizations, along with Catholic Charities, are not worthy stewards of our donations.  It's best that we find good Catholic and pro-life organizations who are true to Godly principles and donate to them directly.

As If We Needed Another Reason To Boycott CRS Collections!

Last month the Catholic Relief Services, ever on the cutting edge of crusading for true justice and charity (Stop that snickering right now!  Shame-shame!), issued a clarion call to the Trump administration to address what it holds to be the most crucial issue of the day.  Is it the murder of babies in the womb?  Is it the ever-encroaching demands that flagrant gays are making on Christians to celebrate their perversions?  Oh, wait - CRS itself has been caught harboring gays.  None of these.  They are clamoring for an end to - climate change!

The CRS, with the USCCB, sent to President Trump a letter to that effect.  They said, "Sadly, environmental issues can be politicized for partisan agendas and used in public discourse to serve different economic, social, political and ideological interests."  They should know for they are the experts in doing precisely that at the bidding of their puppet-masters and sugar-daddies.

With the Catholic Climate Covenant, they are lobbying for support of the Green Climate Fund and Paris agreements, both of which really promise to be huge drains on cash as they further empower the United Nations.  I for one note with pleasure that the President plans to remove us from the Paris agreements and to curtail funding of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Some might remember the Catholic Climate Covenant as promoting a progressive stunt called the Lenten Carbon Fast.  I can no longer find their version of the "carbon fast calendar" online, but other similar calendars exist that feature the same nonsense as did the CCC version.
  • This gem from the Global Catholic Climate Movement urges us (see March 19) to "let our dishwashers breathe".  Ladies and gentlemen, if you notice your dishwashers breathing, might I suggest that you call an exorcist?  What these envirowhackos do not consider that it is that "energy-intensive drying cycle" that sterilizes the dishes, helping to prevent the spread of germs.
  • Some Catholic envirowhackos from Austrilia have their own calendar, one that has particular focus on their locality.  On March 23rd they suggest the consumption of kangaroo meat as opposed to beef or lamb because, well,..methane!  Need we go into detail?  Bad little cattle!  Bad little sheep!  Killing the planet via flatulence!
So that is one way that the Catholic Relief Services is squandering the donation dollars of faithful Catholics. Pleading with their higher-ups has proven to be an exercise in futility.  The only language they seem to understand is that of "$ ka-ching $".  It is our silence with regard to that language that they need to experience.

Speaking of "donation dollars", the second collection for the Archdiocese of Washington during the weekend of March 25-26 will be for the CRS.  That is in addition to the lenten Rice Bowl shakedown.  As we are boycotting the rice bowl thing, let's boycott this as well and in the same way.  I suggested what to do with the Rice Bowl two weeks ago.  I'd suggest putting that same note in your envelope and dropping that in the collection basket this weekend.

Not One Cent To The Catholic Relief Services Collection This Weekend

In most US dioceses, the second collection at this weekend's Masses will go towards the Catholic Relief Services.  This includes Baltimore and Washington DCThis blog, the Lepanto Institute, and other faithful Catholic sites have cited numerous reasons over the years how this outfit, along with the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, Catholic Charities and others have funneled millions of dollars towards progressive organizations that spread both spiritual and physical death and destruction.  And no, they didn't just naively give over the cash.  They were founded with the express purpose of undermining Holy Mother Church.

Below is a podcast from the Anchor Team expounding on the harm being done by CRS and others, as well as the history behind these cabals.  Encourage your fellow Catholics not to put one red penny in that basket.
