Texas Federal Judge Declares Obama Hell Bill Unconstitutional

Yesterday a Federal judge in Texas ruled that the Affordable Care Act, aka the Obamacare Hell Bill, is unconstitutional in its entirety.  See here and here.

Of course it has always been unconstitutional.  However, the Supreme Court ruled in 2012 that because Obamacare contained a tax provision, that it fell under Congress' purview to levy taxes and therefore passed constitutional muster even though it violated the Interstate Commerce Clause.  Last year Congress repealed that tax, commonly known as the individual mandate.

Texas and 20 other states argued that without that tax, the whole ACA is now unconstitutional and Judge Reed O'Connor agreed.  He did not grant an injunction against Obamacare.  It appears that this matter will again head to the Supreme Court.  Bear in mind that in 2012, it was only because of the tax provision that the Court ruled it constitutional.  That tax provision no longer exists.  The Court admitted in 2012 that without the tax, Obamacare is unconstitutional.

It should be noted that O'Connor was appointed by George W. Bush.  Does anyone believe that any judge appointed by a Democrat president would have ruled correctly?  Elections matter - even when the candidates are not sterling.

Now about the Catholic hierarchy - when are they going to start crabbing about this development?  Many of them were supporters of the Hell Bill, abortion provisions notwithstanding.  Will they once again make fools of themselves?  Of course that question is rhetorical.

President Trump Rolls Back Contraceptive Mandate

Today President Trump essentially gutted the demonic Obamacare contraceptive mandate, restoring to employers the right to follow God's laws instead of the dictates of the culture of death.   From Brietbart we read that "the new rule provides full protection for Americans with religious beliefs and moral convictions and acknowledges that the contraceptive mandate concerns serious issues of moral concern, including those involving human life."

Naturally Planned Parenthood is pitching a hissy-snit while the ACLU (American Commies & Libertines Union) is getting ready to sue the administration.  LifeSiteNews registers the praise of many pro-life leaders, and the teeth-gnashing of pro-aborts, in reaction to this significant step in the right direction.  Besides the now-relieved Little Sisters of the Poor and some legal and lobbying organizations manned by Catholics, we've not yet heard from the official Catholic hierarchy.  As of this writing, there is not one peep on the USCCB site about this matter.  Had Trump withdrawn the US from the UN, you can bet your bottom dollar that they would have been all over it.  So why are they quiet?  Most likely they will put up some obligatory blurb on the matter.

This action by the president is just one more proof that ELECTIONS MATTER!  At the risk of causing some anger, I hope that those who espoused the #nevertrump mantra last November are considering these events and what could have been the horrible alternative.

A Dark Day In England And Christendom

Today the parents of Baby Charlie Gard, Chris Gard and Connie Yates, ended their legal battle to bring their baby to the United States for experimental treatment.  In their statement outside the court room today, Mr. Gard rightly excoriated the legal system for mandating that Charlie go for months without treatment, thus greatly reducing his chances at survival.

LifeNews reported on a statement made by Judge Francis, who imperiously ruled that the state could usurp the God-given rights of parents to protect their children.  As you read this you'll see the unbridled arrogance and haughtiness of this judge, as he represents England's legal system and the socialistic National Health Service that holds so much sway in England.  His statement is reminiscent of behaviors evinced by tyrants throughout history who have ruled for their power over innocent people  He and the other bureaucrats will have the blood of that baby on their hands, barring a miracle whereby Charlie survives after being pulled off life support. Moreover, those who shrugged their shoulders in apathy, and who continue to do so as thousands of babies are slaughtered via abortion each day, will share both in blood-guilt and in responsibility for the collapse of Christian civilization.

This is one reason why Obamacare must be abolished in this country NOW.  In England, the death panels just had their way with a helpless baby.

Catholic Health Association To Prostitute Itself (Again!) To Obama

The Catholic Health Association, with Sister Carol Keehan still at the helm, just commenced a three-day meeting at the Marriott Wardham Park in northwest Washington DC.  They will be discussing Obamacare (crammed down our throats with the help of Keehan) and the "future" of health care.

To add insult to the injury, the three-day gab-fest will conclude this Tuesday June 9 with an address from the Messiah Most Miserable himself.  Gushes Keehan (with my comments in red), "As long-time supporters of a health care system that works for everyone not the unborn babies and those facing death panels and pays special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable, we are grateful for the President’s leadership on the ACA you know, the 2000+ page monstrosity that Pelosi said we'd have to pass to learn what's in it."

Work demands will keep me from protesting; otherwise I'd be there raising my voice.  The Catholic Health Association does not deserve to be called Catholic, given the way it threw not only the Catholic Church, but the entire country under the bus, all so they could curry the favor of the obamanista regime; and now they're gloating over it.  I am grateful that this affair isn't occurring on Catholic property and pray that no prelates will be in attendance (that means you, Cardinal McCarrick!).

Well, the Obamacare site is malfunctioning again, but this time the "malfunction" is taking a more inconvenient, if not malevolent flavor.  In the words of these news anchors, it is "mistakenly debiting people's bank accounts".  Whoopsie!!

Come to think of it, I wonder just how much of this is "mistake" and how much of this is intended.  Sometimes it can be quite convenient to play the buffoon to escape accountability.  This is just one of many reasons to stay away from Obamacare.  They are literally playing the embezzlers.

Dolan: "Catholic Church Could Have Been Obamacare Cheerleader"

I'm beginning to think that Cardinal Dolan and Vice President Biden have a "gaffe competition" going on between them.  Or maybe not, as you'll see at the end.

The headline is truly what Cardinal Dolan said of the Obamacare disaster that is unfolding before our very eyes.  It's just that teensy thing about the murder of babies that gives them a cause for pause.  Sane people have been sounding that clarion call all along, but the progressives in the US hierarchy refuse to accept it.  Here's a key principle: when we ascribe to any governmental entity the powers and authority that Obamacare (and socialism) does, those sitting in positions of authority will become giddy and arrogant with their power.  They will see themselves as de facto deities and believe they have the prerogatives of the same.  In fact, we saw that in the 1970s.  It's no accident that Roe versus Wade was handed down after the Welfare State became firmly ensconced as a way of life.  Give a governmental entity enormous power and it will assume an enormous appetite for more.  Our Founding Fathers were deathly afraid of this scenario happening and sought to put checks and balances within the US Constitution.  The progressives in the USCCB worked feverishly with their cohorts outside the Church, using foolish prelates like Cardinal Dolan as their foils for their plots.  They succeeded.

Only now does Dolan seem to think something amiss, but still he persists in his denial of the horrible evil that is Obamacare.  At least I can only hope it's denial.  The cynical - and  realistic - side of me believes that Cardinal Dolan knew all along that we'd all be forced to pay for the murders of babies, and is putting on this "bristling" schtick to mollify those of us who have been protesting all along.  I believe he's fully culpable for the furtherance of Obamacare via his allowance of the Obama photo-op at the Al Smith Dinner.  His connivance in this mess is no less than that of Sister Carol Keehan as she wields her Pen of Perfidy.

Obama And The Fainting Lady - Really???

Much has been made about Obama steadying the light-headed lady during an address he gave on Monday at the Rose Garden.  The Christian Science Monitor has a write-up about it, with some details about the woman in question, along with a video, which I urge you to watch there.  Continue down this post after watching for there is some analysis of the incident.

A blogger at Lady Patriots looked at the video above, and another taken at a different angle.  She has reason to suspect that the whole incident is staged.  She notes the behavior of the woman's friend and other surrounding individuals.  A commenter to the post asks why the Secret Service didn't spring into action at that moment.  I post that video below.

USCCB Misquotes Catechism To Buttress Their Socialist Propaganda

Today Sister Mary Ann Walsh penned an article on the USCCB blog entitled "Time to Listen to the Bishops on the Shutdown".  A study of this piece makes clear that the title should be "Time for the Bishops to Abolish the USCCB".

The theme of this less-than-masterpiece is a simple regurgitation of the USCCB swan song heard throughout the fight over the passing and implementation of Obamacare.  In a nutshell, the progressives controlling the various puppet strings at the USCCB support the idea of socialized medicine.  Notice that they aren't even advocating that abortion and contraception be expunged from Obamacare.  They simply don't want to be put in the position of paying for it.  In other words, as long as they (believe that they) won't sully their hands with abortion, they've no problem whatsoever with these moral evils becoming even more ensconced within our medical system because of Obamacare.

Now notice in the fifth paragraph, the one that starts with "The bishops noted that the Catechism..".  They claim to cite the Catechism as the source of their belief that the state must supply health care.  I'll post the full paragraph below:
The bishops noted that the Catechism of the Catholic Church says it is the proper role of government to "make accessible to each what is needed to lead a truly human life," including food, clothing, heath care, education and culture.

Ladies and gentlemen, that is a misquote of paragraph 2288; here is the link to the Catechism, and you'll need to scroll to the paragraph.  I'll post it below.
Concern for the health of its citizens requires that society help in the attainment of living-conditions that allow them to grow and reach maturity: food and clothing, housing, health care, basic education, employment, and social assistance.

Are you noticing any differences??  There are two big differences.  Notice that the USCCB claims that government is the agent of provision.  The Catechism uses the word society.  They are not synonyms.  Let's look at the Catechism again, this time paragraph 1880, where "society" is plainly defined as "a group of persons bound together organically by a principle of unity that goes beyond each one of them".   Thus, the Catholic Church is a "society" as much as any civil body.  At this point, I'd also suggest a close study of paragraphs 1883-1885; they go into detail about the Principle of Subsidiarity and the danger of collectivism.

Bearing those last two points in mind, let's look at the second difference.  The USCCB uses the phrase "make accessible" while the Catechism uses the phrase "help in the attainment".   How can the government "make accessible" that which it doesn't possess?  Why, it has to seize it, doesn't it?  From whom?  Remember the phrase "from each according to his ability to each according to his need"?  That's straight from Karl Marx.  On the other hand, help in the attainment is innocuous: it could mean job skills training or truly charitable outreaches - means that don't entail confiscation from those who honestly attain goods vis-a-vis onerous taxes/fines such as the ones that Obamacare is already starting to impose.

I would propose that the USCCB is not worthy of the audience of anyone.

Eeek! Eeek! The Chicken Littles Are Running Amok!

At midnight tonight the government will "run out of money" and will be shut down (except for military, postal workers, air traffic controllers, etc).  Actually it's long been broke, but that's another story.  I regret that the House GOP didn't hold to their principles but are settling only for a year's delay in the obama-care monstrosity, but it seems that isn't enough for the progressive leviathans in the Senate and White House.

So let it shut down.  It's happened before and somehow civilization still struggled on.  Hey!  Does that mean National Public Radio will go dark?  Now wouldn't that be a gigantic improvement for the airways!

Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, we do hear wailing and gnashing of teeth from some of the progressive infestations within the Church.  Father Larry Snyder, president of Catholic Charities, voices much angst at the prospect of a governmental shutdown.  Would that he would voice similar compunctions for those who will suffer under the disaster known as Obamacare.  Of course that includes the babies, but given that five years ago, Catholic Charities of Richmond VA actually aided and abetted an abortion for a minor girl under their care, maybe abortion is not high on their radar screen.  What might be high on the Catholic Charities' radar screen is all that federal funding that might get crimped.  I understand that approximately 60%-80% of CC's budget comes from governmental grants.  Dare I suggest that the feds cut that funding off pronto?  There is no Constitutional mandate whatsoever for the government to be funding charities in that fashion.  Such is the responsibility of private citizens.

The federal government is such an inept mess anyway - life will go on just fine without it for a few days.

RINO Roll Call Of Infamy

As we all know by now, the Senate voted by a predictable margin of 55-45 to pass the House version of the funding bill - sans the provision to defund Obamacare.  Of course the real vote came earlier; that was the vote for or against cloture.  Ultimately the vote was for cloture, and then the results for the later vote were a given.

The Senate Conservatives Fund shows the list of traitors who stabbed not only Ted Cruz and friends in the back, but also each and every one of this.  Many of them are the "usual gang of suspects": John McCain, Lisa Murkowski, etc.  But Mitch McConnell?  Isn't he supposed to be the Republican Minority Leader in the Senate?

I'm sure at least a few of them are up for re-election in 2014.  They need to be defeated, with the rest going down in flames when they're up next.

Stoplight explains shared risk in a way that a child can understand.  Any of us can understand it, in other words.  Will enough of us take it to heart, to counteract the progressives (including those who control the USCCB) who refuse to accept the basic injustice of Obamacare?

HHS Religious Exemptions - Abysmal Jokes

Yesterday the Messiah Most Miserable decided to fling a few crumbs our way in regards to the onerous HHS mandates that forces each and every taxpayer to pay for contraceptives - that is, chemicals that murder tiny unborn children.  Well, not really!  (Hint - When these "announcements" are released on Fridays, caveat emptor!).

The crumbs, in all their dubious 80-page glory, can be found here.  You will notice one thing immediately on page 8 of the pdf; only churches, "integrated auxiliaries" and "exclusively religious activities of any religious order" are the recipients of the largess of Dear Leader.  That would mean that any religious order that does not engage exclusively in religious activities would be subject to the mandate; thus Catholic hospitals and religious orders with any kind of outreach are bound.  All other business entities, regardless of the beliefs of their owners, MUST fund the availability of drugs that kill preborn children.

This gesture on the part of Obama is simply that - a meaningless gesture, an empty ruse.  No wonder he waited until Friday to announce this tripe.  Most Catholic and conservative blogs see through this silly set of smoke and mirrors: Catholic World Report, American Life League, Catholic Vote,  EWTN, Susan B. Anthony List.

Of course the progressive infiltration weighed in, as well.  Read the Catholics United we read that "more women will have access to the health care that they need".   The author makes no bones about his support for contraceptives, placing himself at odds with Church teaching.  However, what else can be expected from Catholics United, whose director, James Salt, once worked with Sebelius' campaign office in Kansas?  Michael Sean Winters of the Not-So-Catholic Reporter gushes over this latest Obama slop as well.  He starts off his piece by stating that he's not a lawyer.  He forgot to add that the bishop of the diocese in which NCR operates has made plain that NCR is not qualified to call itself "Catholic".

Most baffling, though, is the reaction of the USCCB.  Perhaps "baffling" is a poor choice of words as they have always seemed eager to try to find ways to appease the tyrants of Washington; "disappointing" is actually a better word for this situation.  Basically they said nothing, citing a need for "study".  Really?  Let's assume that everything was just wonderful with these new regs in giving churches and church-related organizations carte-blanche exemptions.  Would that make the HHS mandate morally acceptable to the USCCB?  What about the small, for-profit businesses?  Would the USCCB be ok with them being forced to pay for baby-murder?  The statement by the Susan B. Anthony List was excellent and one that should be echoed by the USCCB.  Key segments are: "religious and moral freedom is not up for negotiation", "there must be no religious test by the government", "only complete repeal is acceptable".  This is not rocket science requiring copious amounts of study.  These exemptions are a sham, and the Catholic bishops of this country must grow backbones and call out this charade for what it is.

Sister Carol Keehan Dealing With Obamacare Reality

National Catholic Register interviewed Sister Carol Keehan.  She is grimacing a bit at the cuts to hospitals (including CHA hospitals) that are part and parcel of the ObamaHellBill.  Goodness!  She might even find herself taking a cut in salary!

Bear in mind that almost two years ago, this woman played a pivotal role in ramming this thing through Congress.  It's reasonable to opine that without her intervention with some of the Catholics in Congress, the ObamaHellBill would not have passed.  Now it appears that a glimmer of reality is breaking through the blinders that she put upon her own face.  I would say that it's rather poetic justice that's being served upon Sister, but the fact is that we all will pay for this mess.
