I had written in the past about Father Joseph Palacios of Georgetown University, a self-described "gay priest" who co-founded "Catholics for Equality". Comes now the happy news (thanks to Cardinal Newman Society) that Palacios has been relieved of his priestly faculties by his bishop, Jose Gomez of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Of course what would be more joyous would be the news of Palacios' repentance of his gay advocacy and dissidence in general. In the meantime, we thank and salute Archbishop Gomez.

Catholics And Politics
"Catholycs" for Equality are chortling about their belief that a "majority of Catholics in Maryland stand by Governor O'Malley". They opine in the context of O'Malley's intention to push for "gay marriage" in Maryland. I'm not going to banter as to whether or not a "majority" of MD Catholics have swallowed the politically-correct koolaid of "gay marriage". When one speaks of "Catholics", one can mean those who were baptized Catholic as children and that's it, those who attend Mass only on Easter and Christmas, and even those who call themselves "recovered Catholics". It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that the aforegoing sub-groupings of Catholics probably would support "gay marriage" (assuming that they care one way or the other about the matter). However, morality is never defined by consensus, but only by God's laws.
The article goes on to criticize Archbishop O'Brien for a "bad use of his time" in defending traditional marriage. That's interesting. If these people don't recognize a bad definition of marriage, who are they to determine whether or not the Archbishop is using his time badly? As for the archbishop being "out of line", I suggest it is the gay activists who are "out of line" for their attempt to mangle the meaning of true marriage to suit their warped purposes.
While I certainly congratulate Archbishop O'Brien for speaking out, I do suggest that this article may indicate the results of years of neglect in teaching authentic morality and placing that before other matters, such as so-called "social justice" which is nothing more than wimpy attempts to placate progressives. Archbishop O'Brien and Cardinal Wuerl MUST start obeying Canon 915 and deny Holy Communion to Governor O'Malley, Barbara Mikulski and all the other politicians who dare to call themselves Catholic while using their high positions to tear down authentic morality.

"Rainbow Sash" Post Update - Archdiocese of Washington Rebuts RS Claim Of Approval
With regards to yesterday's post, I stand corrected. Apparently the Rainbow Sash folks are not up front at all. From American Papist we read that the Communications Office of the Archdiocese repudiates the RS's claim of permission by Cardinal Wuerl. Susan Gibbs, that office's director, called the press release "a nice piece of fiction". That's a polite way of putting it. Furthermore, the Archdiocese has reaffirmed the status of "Catholics for Equality" as an illegitimate organization. The archdiocese is to be congratulated for their swift clarification.
But once again, Georgetown University has earned strong rebukes for hosting the CFE event tonight, now obviously in defiance of the Archdiocese of Washington.

Rainbow Sash Welcomes Cardinal Wuerl's "Change Of Heart"??? What??
That's what this announcements says, from Rainbow Sash, as they simultaneously make known the intended profanation of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception to occur at (where else?) Georgetown University tomorrow evening, by Catholics for Equality.
Can it be that Rainbow Sash is deliberately misrepresenting the Cardinal, in an attempt to "stir the pot", as it were? Given all parties concerned, I cannot be certain. The fact is that the Rainbow Sash folks, for all their contemptable faults, are up front about what they do.

Catholics For Equality Playing Gestapo Games
You have read here about "Catholics for Equality" and how Georgetown University is incubating these nutso groups. Then you read here about how those poor dears bunched their undies because Kicanas didn't win the post of USCCB president.
The American Papist points out the latest stunt that these catholycs are promoting. It seems that they developed a smartphone app that they want their little gestapo agents to use to "report anti-equality activity" as they attend Mass or other church functions. So think of it. Father, during his homily, is doing what a priest should be doing - teaching Catholic truth about marriage, for example. The "catholyc" gnome next to you whips out his/her smartphone and starts typing away! Yes, Father is being "reported"! Welcome to the brave new world of "tolerance".
If you read the post carefully, you'll see that the American Papist clearly illustrates the link between "Catholics for Equality" and George Soros. Surprise, surprise!!
He does seem to be concerned that these stunts could have intimidating effects. Perhaps - but only if we let them! Ladies and gentlemen, we still live in a free country, and we can turn the tables on them if we have the guts and imagination to think outside the "poor little persecuted Christian" box. Of course it also means we have to have our eyes open and to be alert at all times. Here's what I mean. Say, for example, your priest is preaching that homosexual relations are mortally sinful (and they are, of course). All of the sudden, you notice a stranger whip out his phone and start typing away. Maybe your radar should go up. Now you don't want to cause a scene and disrupt Holy Mass. However, afterwards, you can confront this individual in the lobby or parking lot. Ask him/her what he/she was doing - point blank. Ideally, have others with you. If the situation warrants, pull out your own recording devices. With your own smartphones, take his photo and that of his vehicle license plate. I bet you won't see him/her again. Light scares away cockroaches.
I suppose all this will get me reported for "anti-equality activity". I will wear that label as a badge of honor.

Georgetown University Never Fails - To Disappoint And Scandalize
Thanks to the Cardinal Newman Society for alerting us to this double-header by DC's Georgetown University.
First we have "gender-blind housing". No doubt you have guessed what that is all about. The Hoya announced that university officials would be willing to discuss this "gender-blind housing" that would “not take into account gender when assigning housing to students.” Ostensibly the reason given is to be "accepting" of LGBTQ students. However, we know what else would be happening. Boys and girls, can we say "shack-up and fornication with the blessings of the university"? We're essentially talking about university officials not only condoning but actually facilitating mortal sin amongst its students.
Second, we hear that Catholics for Equality is all atwitter about the USCCB elections. They are worried - just worried sick! - that the elections of Archbishops Dolan and Kurtz "signals increased Vatican influence in US politics." Huh?? How do they draw that conclusion? To tip their hands a little more, they let loose with this nonsense: "this election broadens the gap between the people of the Catholic Church in America and the increasingly uncharitable demands of the Pope in Rome." Read the CFE's press release - it's a hoot. They wax indignant about "the Catholic hierarchy’s national campaign to deny marriage and family rights to gay and lesbian citizens." Imagine that! Catholic bishops defending and promulgating Catholic dogma and morals? What is the world coming to? Next they'll be telling dissidents like Catholics for Equality to repent and go to Confession or be excommunicated! The horror!
Saint Ignatius of Loyala, please pray for your wayward sons who are leading many souls to their eternal damnation. Pray for their repentance, lest they also careen towards their own eternal doom.

Archbishop Broglio Rebukes Catholycs For Equality
This is from the Catholic News Agency and again I thank An Archdiocese of Washington Catholic.
When the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" repeal attempt failed in the Senate (Deo Gratias!), Timothy Broglio, Archbishop for the Military Services, pointed out that a group can call itself "Catholic" only if it has ecclesial approval, and that due to its dissident positions, Catholycs for Equality cannot legitimately call itself a Catholic group.
Kudos for this archbishop!

Georgetown Personnel Lead New Pro-Gay Gaggle
Father Joseph Palacios, a sociology professor at Georgetown University in Washington DC is a founding board member of a new dissident group called "Catholics for Equality". A look at the list of board members is quite revealing. Many of them have ties to the Human Rights Campaign (Fr Palacios is on that board, too) and other gay-rights groups. According to this Metro Weekly article that comments about www.churchouting.org (its name is rather self-explanatory) run by anther CFE board member Phil Attey, Father Palacios is "an openly gay priest".
A review of this website reveals their intentions to proseletize among college students. By the way, look at the right side bar, where one gets to "report anti-equality activity" at your parish. To all faithful Catholics and especially you priests, let's all strive to get "reported"!
Patrick Reilly, president of the Cardinal Newman Society, wrote a letter to Georgetown president John DiGioia asking him to assure that no employees of Georgetown University will participate in this organization. Please read Reilly's article on this matter. I might question why Father Palacios is retained by Georgetown at all, if the Metro Weekly article is correct.
