Online Petition To Support Archbishop Naumann And Father Maxim

On Sunday I suggested that all support Father Maxim and Archbishop Naumann.  TFP Student Action has provided us a convenient means to do so as they have started an online petition for that very purpose.  Please go to this site, sign it and then spread words to your own contacts.

Support Abp Naumann And Father Maxim

Father Craig Maxim is pastor of St Ann Catholic Church in Prairie Village, Kan.  The parish has a school.  Recently Fr. Maxim declined to accept a child into the school  who is being raised by a same-sex couple.  Father issued an email to explain his reasons, as his decision has sparked some protest.  Archbishop Naumann has also received these protests, but is standing firm in his decision not to compromise Church teaching.  He rightly says that the situation in which the child now lives cannot exhibit respect and obedience to Christ's teachings on marriage and family life.

So those kvelling and whining about "punishing the child for the parents' sins", I take it as a positive sign that you acknowledge the "parents'" actions as sinful.  By the way - "parents" is in quotes because at most only one of them can be the child's biological parent - unless they adopted the child which means that neither is a parent in a moral sense.  Your outrage is misplaced.  Instead of badgering the pastor and bishop, direct your anger to those so-called "parents".  Of course some of you may be in league with the obvious attempt to get the school to accept the mortal sin of sodomy.  Anyway, here is my open letter to that same-sex pair.

(Begin open letter)

Dear Same-Sex Couple who is raising and exploiting this child:

Let's cut to the chase.  You are exploiting this child.  Just as so many of you have been trying to break the resolve and livelihoods of cake bakers, florists et al in your attempts to force them to affirm your mortal sins, you seem to have that as your end game in respect to St Ann's school.  Why else would you attempt to enroll the child in a school that has as its core mission the impartation of Catholic teaching?  Surely you must be aware that the school would be teaching to its students, and the child in your custody, that same-sex "marriage" is both a farce and mortal sin.  Why would you want this child to hear that?  Or do you intend, later down the road, to cajole and even threaten the school into a false acceptance of your mortally sinful lifestyle?

A number of your syncophants are even now badgering the school to "show mercy".  In actuality, it would be the epitome of cruelty to the child to pretend that your lifestyle is anything but dangerous, certainly to your immortal souls.  If mercy is to be shown to the child, the onus for doing so lies on your shoulders - nowhere else.

If either of you retains any shred of knowledge of Catholic truth (assuming you were brought up in the Faith, and that may not be the case), you might recall that the first Spiritual Work of Mercy is "rebuke the sinner".  That is precisely what I'm doing.  For you to show mercy to your child, you'll quit your sinful parody of a marriage and cease all homosexual conduct immediately.  You will get yourselves to Confession.  You will explain to the child the wrongness of your actions.  That would be the best lesson in truth and mercy that he or she could receive from you at this time.  For that matter, it would be the most merciful thing you could do for yourselves and each other, for this current lifestyle of yours, if continued, leaves you in danger of eternal damnation.

(end open letter)

We do not know who they are, and that is best so as to protect the identity of this poor child.  Please spread this around to increase the chances that this couple will see it, both for the sake of the child and their own eternal salvations.

The Archdiocese of Kansas City posted an explanation of its policy regarding admission to Catholic schools on the front page of its site.  Please read it, and then take a minute to thank the archbishop for standing for Christ's teachings.  The archbishop doesn't have his own published email address so I'd suggest emails to the Vicar General of the Curia.  An alternate email and phone can be found here.

Also please support Father Maxim by contacting the parish.  This site has a handy contact form as well as the usual information.  You can also visit their facebook page to offer support; that page is featuring comments from gay-supporters who think "acceptance" means embracing mortally sinful conduct.  Thanks.

US Supreme Court Upholds Christian Baker's First Amendment Rights

In a 7-2 vote, the US Supreme Court sided today with Jack Philips, a Christian who owns and operates Masterpiece Cakeshop.  Mr. Philips refused to make a wedding cake for the fake #mowwidge of two sodomites.

The Supreme Court declared that Phillips did not get a fair hearing from the Colorado Civil Rights Commission.  They noted the hostility towards Phillip's beliefs in Colorado's written opinions.  Even Elena Kagan and Stephen Breyer, two progressive Justices found Colorado's bigotry to be unacceptable and delivered to them a much-needed smackdown.

This bodes well for the other Christian-owned small businesses that are similarly threatened by the gaystapo juggernaut that seeks to relegate Christians to the status of "niggers of the new age".  For this victory we thank God and give a shout-out to Alliance Defending Freedom and to Mr. Phillips and the other Christian business owners who are taking stands for God and His Laws.

Laudato Si And Paris Agreement - Spawned From Same Progressive Agenda

Cardinal Peter Turkson, who had a major role in the drafting of Laudato Si, granted an interview to a news outlet called Mongabay.  In it, he unabashedly admitted that the preamble to the agreement and Laudato Si bore very striking resemblances.  I've no doubt that they are very similar.  This only goes to show how the current Vatican leadership - including Pope Francis - are taking their marching orders from progressive puppet-masters.  Turkson might attempt to pretend that Laudato Si was some sort of inspiration for the Paris Agreement.  However, could it be that the drafters of Laudato Si and the Paris Agreement are simply taking their talking points from the same sugar-daddies?  They certainly aren't basing their theories on solid science!

The Church hierarchy has no moral right to try to cram the "climate change" ideology down our throats.  The mission of the Church is to save souls; that's the mandate given to her by Jesus Christ Himself.  The Church disgraces herself when she lets that divinely-ordained mission play second fiddle to progressive pet projects that are designed to insinuate one-world government as the world's de facto deity.  That disgrace is being allowed by, if not perpetrated by, the pope.

For instance, the Church must uphold Christ's teachings on marriage and the evil of homosexual conduct.  The Italian Parliament is deliberating bills to legalize sodomy and the adoption of children by perverts.  Good people are taking a stand.  This past weekend, an organization called "Committee to Defend Our Children" organized a rally in Rome, dubbing it "Family Day 2016".  Hundreds of thousands of good people made their voices heard.   Cardinal Angel Bagnasco, Archbishop of Genoa and president of the Italian Bishops' Conference played a key leadership role and was present at that rally.  Pope Francis, however, distanced himself from the rally, going so far as to cancel a meeting he had scheduled with Bagnasco. The Remnant has more details.  They give their opinions on the "whys and wherefores" of the pope's reluctance to stand with faithful Catholics.  They are opinions but I believe they are well-reasoned.

I mention all this to remind us all that it is outside the Church's realm of expertise to pronounce on "climate change".  We are free to disagree with the hierarchy's progressive take on the matter.  In light of the flimsy scientific basis for it and the progressive ramifications of it, I'd suggest we disagree with it vigorously.

Gay Cantor Fired From Germantown Parish

Apparently the incident happened back in November but the local church kept it quiet.  However, because WJLA reported it a few days ago, the archdiocese did announce it via Cardinal Wuerl's blog.  Read the two pieces, along with what the Washington Blade (local gay newspaper) had to say about the matter.

The man in question, Jeffrey Higgins, is 29 years old.  He was born well after Vatican II, and most likely received a Catholic education that was lackluster at best.  As you read the WJLA article, you'll notice that he is a "cradle Catholic".  He knew enough of his faith to tell his priest in the confessional about his same-sex difficulties.  He says his pastor affirmed his disordered tendencies as being loved by God the way he is.  Regrettably he's most likely rendering an accurate account of that confession, and that priest will have to answer to God for the spiritually deadly advise he gave to that young man.  That said, it seemed that Higgins still understood that there was a problem for he did not publicize his situation to the parish staff.

The parish in question is Mother Seton Church in Germantown MD, pastored by Father Lee Fangmeyer.  Progressive indignation aside, Father Fangmeyer did the only thing he could do, in light of the unrepenant attitude evinced by Higgins.  To their credit, the same can be said for Bishop Knestout and Cardinal Wuerl.  The teaching of Jesus Christ on the topic of homosexual conduct must be upheld by those in service to the Church; Higgins refused to comply so there was no choice but to fire him.  We certainly pray that Higgins repents of his perverted lifestyle before he dies, lest he consign himself to hell.

In related news, Miami Archbishop Thomas Wenski reminded his employees that they could lose their jobs if they publicly support behaviors that are at odds with Church teaching, including gay #mowwidge.  This is welcome news.

The Year Of Mercy, Without Obedience To Our Lady Of Fatima, Will Be A Miserable Flop

Today ChurchMilitant.com published an article entitled "Two Out Of Every Three Mass-Attending Catholics Support Homosexuality".  I wish I could say that this is a surprise to me, but it isn't.  I live in Montgomery County Maryland and my parish is also in Montgomery County.  Several years ago we were in the process of petitioning gay marriage to the ballot.  We had gotten permission to collect signatures in the church lobby after Masses.  Two of us were calling attendees over to sign.  We called over one lady.  She adamantly refused.  She said she "might go to hell for this but I see no reason why gays can't get married if they want".  Needless to say, my friend and I were taken aback.  Now this woman recently passed away, so I pray that her declaration of support for mortal sin was not prophetic.

Two days ago the news regarding the Southern Baptists was even more disconcerting.  One of the first Baptist churches of the nation is now conducting "gay #mowwidges" and ordaining gay AND "transexual", that is, self-mutilated/drugged "ministers".  In their condition, they can only be ministers of death, disease and damnation.  That the protestants are further down the rabbit hole of depravity than are Catholics is not surprising.  It is to the Roman Catholic Church that Our Lord has entrusted the fullness of the Faith.  However, we are not that far behind.

At Mass yesterday we heard a sermon on "mercy", in keeping with the "jubilee of mercy", no doubt.  While there was much talk of the joys of mercy, there was very little teaching on the requirements for receiving God's mercy.  Remember that this is the same parish where the woman loudly declared her support for sodomy.  The blogger at Boston Catholic Insider put up a piece recently entitled "The Error Of Preaching Mercy Without Repentance".  He/she articulated well what I was thinking yesterday.  Without understanding the seriousness of sin and the reality of hell, to which a person will go if they have one unrepented mortal sin on their soul at time of death, there will be no appreciation nor seeking of God's mercy through the sacrament of Confession.  Too often priests refuse to preach on the last four things, including hell.  They are too "politically correct" to name fornication, contraception, sodomy, etc as mortal sins that can damn a soul to hell for all eternity.  Thus they ill-serve their congregations, flowery "mercy" happy-talk notwithstanding.

Now let's address Our Lady of Fatima and her message.  We know that she asked that Russia be consecrated to her  Immaculate Heart by the Pope.  Let's be VERY CLEAR!  Our Lady took the trouble to specify RUSSIA!  Not "the world"!  Not "the universe"!  She, Our Lady, Queen of heaven and earth, specified "Russia"!  How dare anybody presume not to follow her lead in specifying Russia by name?  Is this really so complicated?  Our Lady left no "wiggle room" here!  Per her very clear instructions, Russia must be singled out for consecration.  Oh, it's very nice that the world was consecrated several times, but those consecrations were not done in conformity with Our Lady of Fatima's specific directions.

"But Sister Lucia said the consecration was done!", some might protest.  Oh, really??  Did she???  Please consider that we were told this "second-hand".  Now haven't we all seen enough of Vatican sleight-of-hands and machinations to be skeptical of anything we hear from that organization, especially when we know very well the instructions given to the three Fatima children?  Then folks might say "but look at Russia and how it seems to be returning to Christianity!"  That picture is not so rosy.  I direct your attention to the following video and urge us all to redouble our prayer efforts so that Russia will be consecrated to Our Lady's Immaculate Heart, per her specific instructions; else there will be judgment as opposed to mercy.

From The Niggers Of The New Age Department - Christian Government Official Jailed For Upholding True Law

I'm writing of Kim Davis, the Kentucky court clerk who has just been jailed by a rogue judge until she agrees to issue marriage licenses to those engaged in homosexual perversion.  See here.  There's complaints from the judicial activists about her taking an oath - an oath which I suspect was administered with her hand on a Bible.  That gesture is NOT a meaningless tradition.  Anyway, before liberals tut-tut against Ms. Davis for "defying rule of law", they might wish to refresh their memories a tad.

Mike Huckabee had this to say: "Having Kim Davis in federal custody removes all doubt of the criminalization of Christianity in our country. We must defend religious liberty and never surrender to judicial tyranny. Five unelected Supreme Court lawyers did not and cannot make law. They can only make rulings. The Supreme Court is not the Supreme branch and it's certainly not the Supreme Being. I am proud of Kim for standing strong for her beliefs. Who will be next? Pastors? Photographers? Caterers? Florists? This is a reckless, appalling, out-of-control decision that undermines the Constitution of the United States and our fundamental right to religious liberty."

Ted Cruz also issued a statement to which I'll link.  Towards the end we read "We are a country founded on Judeo-Christian values, founded by those fleeing religious oppression and seeking a land where we could worship God and live according to our faith, without being imprisoned for doing so."  That's just historical fact.

Huckabee asked "who's next?"  Actually folks from all those fields have been attacked and persecuted for not bowing before the gay-nazi baals and molechs of the day - and we are being attacked by highly placed and highly paid henchmen.  This is why several years ago I coined the phrase "niggers of the new age" to describe the increasing hostility we're facing precisely because we are Christians who obey God.

In a discussion about Ms. Davis' situation, I said of her, "her witness stings their guilty consciences so they are driven to punish her for her beliefs. Such was the case with John the Baptist, St Stephen, just about every martyr and anyone who upholds Christian morality. They want blood."  The progressives resent our stance for it makes plain the sinfulness of their conduct.  When I said "they want blood", I was not speaking metaphorically.

Let us stand with brave Christians like Ms Davis and speak out against her mistreatment - while we still some freedoms left.

By the way - I just popped over to the USCCB site to see if they issued any sort of statement, as did Huckabee and Cruz.  Not a peep, and I'm not surprised.  If anyone sees any such statement, please drop a line in the combox.

Is The Archdiocese Of Washington Providing Benefits For Same-Sex Couples?

First, ht to An Archdiocese of Washington Catholic.  While he may have been late with this, I missed it altogether.  But this blooper by Cardinal Wuerl is a whopper, and that's saying something, coming from him.

LifeSiteNews alerted us all yesterday about Wuerl's reaction to the Supreme Court ruling.  Recall that during a Mic'd Up presentation in the wake of the #mowwidge ruling, Michael Voris wondered aloud where the Archdiocese of Washington might be.  Well, maybe this is at least a partial answer to the question.  In typical double-speak fashion, Wuerl is being very coy about the matter - so coy, though, that he may be tipping his hand a tad.

He said, "On a very practical level, there is a concern about the new definition of ‘spouse’ and its legal ramifications.  In this area for example, we must find a way to balance two important values, the provision of appropriate health care benefits for all Church personnel including their spouses, and the avoidance of the perception that by doing so we accept a definition of marriage and spouse contrary to faith and revealed truth."  Whoa!  Let's unpack this mess, shall we?
  • If a given "Church personnel" is in a same-sex #mowwidge, his/her accomplice in perversion is not - repeat, NOT - a "spouse"!  The "Church personnel" and accomplice in mortal sin are endangering their souls and each other's by virtue of their #mowwidge and attendant perversions.
  • Since when is it an "important value" of the Church to affirm people in mortal sin?  I would think the reverse would be true, to dissuade them from their sin and lead them to repentance so that they don't wind up in hell.
  • Wuerl claims he would like to avoid the "perception" of "accepting a definition of marriage and spouse contrary to faith".  In this case, "perception" is not the problem; it's the reality of the chancery's capitulation to gay-nazis' bastardization of "mowwidge.  If he really wants to avoid the "perception", he must rediscover the Faith and grow a backbone to defend Christ's teachings.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are not finished for there is more double-speak gobblygoop to decipher.

"The law of the land is the law of the land.  We certainly follow what the law says. That doesn’t mean we change the word of God. That doesn’t mean we change the scriptures, or the church’s millennia-long tradition of what marriage is... The Church has better things to do than spend millions of dollars on lawsuits.  The Church will abide by the law."
  • "The law of the land is the law of the land" says absolutely nothing.  It's like saying "the truck is the truck."  So what?
  • "We certainly follow what the law says.  That doesn't mean we change the word of God."  Well no.  But if the "law that you're following" is directly opposed to the Word of God, the act of following that law puts you in disobedience to the word of God.
  • "The Church has better things to do than spend millions of dollars on lawsuits."  So just put in that pinch of incense to the idols of the moment.  Is that how the Church Militant offers homage to the One True God?
  • "The Church will abide by the law."  Well, there you have it!  The stage for capitulation is set!
I wrote a few weeks ago how Cardinal Wuerl breathed down the neck of one of his priests who decried the #mowwidge nonsense from the State of Maryland.  Of course all this puts his maltreatment of Father Guarnizo in new light, doesn't it?

There are some courageous bishops who know their calling.  Recall Bishop Michael Jarrell and Bishop Edward Slattery.  I'll post more of these fine examples as I learn of them.

Fellow Catholics of the Archdiocese of Washington, please recall these posts the next time the Cardinal's Appeal rolls around.

Note - I was just reminded that the ADW cut spousal benefits in 2010.  However, one may well wonder if they are being reinstated.  If not, why the verbal gymnastics?

Are We Cooperating With Mortal Sin?

At the bottom of my previous post, I included a video to display common reactions of many good people who may not themselves be embroiled in the mortal sin of homosexual conduct.  I don't believe I did justice to the subject matter of that video and will now try to rectify that problem.

Owing to the lousy catechesis that many of us (myself included) received as a result of the misapplications of Vatican II, we can be ignorant of the ramifications of cooperating with sin.  Often enough, such cooperation is its own mortal sin.

There are those Catholics who, while appreciating the pain that homosexuals feel, erroneously try to alleviate it by deluding themselves (and their friends) into believing that homosexuality is not an intrinsic disorder but something to be acted upon.  They condone the conduct, not accepting that they will compound the misery - most especially the misery of hell - of their friends.

There are some Catholics who outright facilitate and applaud homosexual conduct.  We saw that on Friday, when "katholyc" Anthony Kennedy wrote the majority opinion to Obergefell v Hodges and was joined by fellow "katholyc" Sonia Sotomayor.  Obviously these two, by their significant actions, have jeopardized their souls.  Thousands, though, join them.

The video lists nine ways in which cooperation with sin often happens.  Pay particular attention to # 5  (defense of evil done) and # 8 (praise).  Many progressive katholycs engage in these with regards to their shilling for "gay rights" (think New Ways Ministry).  Other Catholics, though, - including faithful Catholics - plunge head-on into # 9 (silence).  How long will you remain stuck in that?

Today Is Probably America's Darkest Day Since Roe V Wade

Today the United States of America disgraced itself almost beyond recognition and (I pray not!) perhaps beyond repair with today's Supreme Court ruling in the Obergefell v Hodges ruling.  In a 5-4 ruling, they basically mandated that so-called "gay marriage" must be recognized by all 50 states.  In other words, they attempted to redefine marriage to mean something other than what God intended.  The very first line of the US Declaration of Independence invokes "the laws of nature and nature's God".  Now the United States Supreme Court has set itself - once again - above God and His immutable laws.

An earlier occasion, of course, was the Roe v Wade decision of 1973.  At that time, the Court decreed that the individual states did not have the ability to protect unborn babies from the barbaric practice of abortion.  42 years later, this nation is awash in the blood of over 60 million murdered babies - blood that is on our hands as a nation.  Now, once again, we have made a paradigm leap into godlessness and barbarism.

Ladies and gentlemen, both these ills (and many more) are the direct result of rejecting God's teachings regarding marriage, sexuality and family life as found in Casti Connubii and Humanae Vitae.  Much of that rejection came from those who called themselves Catholics - including clergy.  A careful reading of Humanae Vitae reveals a list of all the evils that would befall society if contraception were accepted.  As I read through that list, it's hard to realize that this was written almost 50 years ago; it could have been written 5 years ago, given its accuracy.

Much of the blame for the degradation of society, particularly western culture, can be laid squarely at the feet of Catholic leaders.  Instead of sticking to their God-given mission of saving souls, that is, preaching the truths of faith and morals, they've been scurrying about and spreading tripe about "social justice".  To fund all their "social justice" hogwash, they silenced themselves regarding morals in order to curry the favors of those who are wealthy and influential.   Now we all reap the bitter fruit of their betrayal of the Faith.

Before I was able to sit down and compose this post, I read other Catholic commentary on today's unmitigated disaster.  Some of the commentary was written by well-meaning and very faithful Catholics with the laudable but mistaken intention of trying to soften the blow to us.  One went so far as to opine that "this is not a time for mourning".  I respectfully disagree.  The book of Joel does call for "weeping, fasting and mourning" as the prophet spoke of response to the sins of a nation.  We received a wake-up call today - at least I hope we have.  These calls can - and should - leave us shocked and disturbed and even angry.  The real question is, "will we allow our profound sorrow to finally motivate us into decisive prayer and action"?  That question remains to be answered by each and every one of us.

I will say this much for some hope in the face of this calamity.  Whereas the Roe v Wade vote was a 7-2 vote, this was 5-4; had it not been for Kennedy's faulty "katholycism" this vote might have been a narrow victory.  Moreover, when Roe v Wade happened, I don't recall it garnering as much outrage as this vote has.  Granted, I was in high school when Roe happened and I do think at the time news of Lyndon Johnson's death on the same day overshadowed the news of the vote, and there was no internet in 1973, but still very few noticed Roe v Wade when it happened.  Now we know and we are able to mobilize.

As our Catholic leaders helped to grease the skids to national perdition over these past few decades, theirs' is the responsibility to lead the way to repentance and restoration.  They must start by devoting themselves to proclaiming God's teaching regarding marriage, sexuality and family life - starting with the Sunday sermons.  When did you last hear a Sunday homily that stated the truth that the usage of contraception is mortally sinful?  I can't remember, either.  They need to start obeying Canon 915 - that means you, Cardinals Dolan and Wuerl!

Meanwhile we are not going to cease speaking out and defending the teachings of Jesus Christ, tyrannical court ruling notwithstanding.

With Bishops Like Him, No Wonder Ireland Is Going Down The Sewer

The Archbishop of Dublin, Dairmuid Martin, stated that the Church in Ireland needs a "reality check".  What kind of "reality check" he has in mind is anything but reality.  He started out by saying "we have drifted away from young people".  Young people!  Not the truth, not Jesus Christ, who is the Way, Truth and Life, along with His teachings - but young people!

He said he voted "no" in the referendum (well we should hope so!), he said he wanted Irish society to be (get this!) "creative in finding ways in which people of same-sex orientation have their rights and their loving and caring relationships recognized and cherished in a culture of difference, while respecting the uniqueness of the male-female relationship."  Wow!  Talk about satanic double-talk!  Let's unpack this heresy, shall we?
  • There is nothing "loving and caring" about sodomy.  Actual love happens when one  desires what is beneficial for another.  Sodomy is a mortal sin: one that will, unless repented, damn the sodomites to hell for all eternity.  How can sodomites claim to "love" one another when they act in ways that will facilitate the eternal damnation of those whom they claim to "love"?
  • In saying he wants Irish society to be creative, well, let me translate. "We want Irish society to facilitate the mortal sin of sodomy".  Martin is also saying that he wants the Irish church to cooperate formally and materially in mortal sin - which would be its own mortal sin.  That is what we call the blind leading the blind straight into hell.
Here's the kind of "reality check" that the Irish Church really needs.  This vote happened the way it did precisely because of the de facto treachery of bishops such as Martin.  A real "reality check" will involve an admission that the Church has been wimpy and lackluster about proclaiming the Faith and moral teachings of Jesus Christ.  The Church should not concern itself with "drifting away from young people" but drifting away from Jesus.  It's time that the Catholic Church should drop all this fascination with "climate change" and progressive "social justice" (euphamism for socialism) and get about its real mission of saving souls.

Will the Church be ever so popular for doing so?  Probably not.  But Jesus was not crucified because He was popular.  We can expect no less - certainly not from a world that has become not only indifferent but murderously hostile towards Christianity.  We have been given a mission by Jesus Himself - a mission upon which hinges our own salvation.

Will The Snakes Return To Ireland?

It is said that when St. Patrick commenced his evangelization of Ireland in the 5th century, he drove out all the serpents that inhabited the island.  Many took it as a sign that the saint (and others to come after him) would drive out idolatry and many other evils - including homosexuality - from Ireland.  As today's Vortex relates, the referendum vote in two days could spell the end of Christianity in Ireland.  A country that did much to preserve western civilization from hordes of barbarians will decide in two days if they indeed have degraded from Christianity to barbarism.

If they go the way of perversion and immorality, they will in fact be inviting the deadly vipers to return to their once-Christian land and spread their deadly poison.  Sadly, not only are Ireland's Catholic bishops neglecting to speak forcefully about the proper Catholic vote in this referendum, but some are actually playing the role of Judas and are shilling for the mutation of the definition of marriage in Irish law.  Bishop Donal McKeown of Derry stated that Catholics "in good conscience" vote to legitimize "gay marriage".  Of course he's dead-wrong.  No one with a true Catholic conscience will vote for this measure.  I cannot see how this isn't rank heresy on McKeown's part.

Of course we must also ask just what kind of signal does the pope's appointment of Timothy Radclifee send to the people of Ireland as they prepare to go to the polls in two days.  In 2013, he wrote of gay sexual relationships, that is, sodomy, "it can be expressive of Christ’s self-gift. We can also see how it can be expressive of mutual fidelity, a covenantal relationship in which two people bind themselves to each other for ever."  This was in a publicly available report, published well in advance fo this appointment.

Let's offer our Rosaries for a Christian outcome to the vote in a few days.

Father Marcel Guarnizo On Legalized "Gay Marriage"

Recently Father Marcel Guarnizo was interviewed by Celtic Connections.  In this interview he discusses the legalization of so-called "gay marriage" in many European countries and the devastating effects that this perversion of marriage is having on children, families and the entire culture.  The recording is here and well worth a listen.  Please share this.

Belgian And German Prelates Promulgate Heresy Unfettered

Last week it was announced that Johan Bonny, Bishop of Antwerp (Belgium) made public his dissidence from Catholic teaching by promulgating his opinion that same-sex couples should be recognized by the Church.  He has gone so far as to hint that these couples should be allowed to adopt children.  This post from Angelqueen has more details.

At the bottom of that post you'll see an equally disgusting quote from the rector of the Catholic University of Leuven, Rik Tors: "Do not underestimate the significance of this. Bonny advocates a change in long-held unshakable principles, something that the dogmatic pontificates of John Paul II and Benedict XVI no bishop could afford to do."

Let's take a look at what Torfs said.  He said that Bonny felt free to mock his own bishop's miter under this pontificate, not being "free" to do so under the previous pontiffs.  There might be truth in that.  Both John Paul II and Benedict XVI upheld the teachings of Jesus Christ and, like true successors to St. Peter, expected the bishops under them to do the same.  I'll emphasize this also; what Torfs stated as being "long-held unshakable principles" are much more than that, as they have originated from God Himself and cannot be flouted without severe consequences, even if those consequences happen only in the afterlife.

The German Bishops' Conference, led by Cardinal Reinhard Marx (a key player in last October's sin-nod) issued an official statement calling for the admission of Catholics who have divorced and remarried without annulment, i.e., those living in adultery (let's call it what it is) to Holy Communion.  In other words, they want to facilitate for those Catholics the sin of sacrilegious Holy Communions.

Vox Cantorus has another quote from Bonny.  Note the theme of allowing polluted secular culture to dictate Church practices - a common theme these days.  The Germans believe they have particular impetus to do so, to increase their revenues from Germany's church-tax.

In September of 2013, the Holy Father excommunicated an Austrilian priest for conducting himself as one after his faculties had been suspended.  They were suspended because he advocated various heretical positions, among them "same-sex marriage".  In light of that, one must wonder why he lets Bonny, Marx et al carry on with their shenanigans while he has sacked Cardinal Burke who is an exemplary champion of the Church.

Nelson Mandela Has Died - What Is Our Proper Response?

Former South African President Nelson Mandela passed away today.  Already various leaders and pundits wax lyrical about his "inspiration and leadership".  This includes some notable conservatives, I regret to say.  I can understand all the liberal/progressive mouthpieces taking this ball and running with it.  In fact, I can fairly well predict that the official Archdiocese of Washington paper, the Catholic Standard, will quite likely devote the bulk of its next issue to "celebrating his life".  They will, of course, be omitting some teensy details of what really is a very chequered career.

Prior to 1996, South Africa had some of the tightest laws regarding abortion on its books.  That ended in December 1996 when Mandela signed a new law, the Choice on Termination of Pregnancy Bill, that gave girls of any age sole discretion about murdering the babies in their wombs.  The South African bishops have shown a regrettable propensity to turning a blind eye to a baby-murder-enabling politician at their nation's helm.  John Smeaton, head of England's Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, had some pointed words to say about this and other immoral stances by the late Mandela.  And of course, read what one gay media outlet has to say about the man whom they dub "father of the rainbow nation".

I write this to provide some moral perspective.  Whatever else he may have done to promote some political equality among adults, his actions that imperiled countless South African babies more than tower over the good he did.  In enshrining gay marriage into the South African constitution, he helped erode the morality of millions - and perhaps jeopardized their immortal souls.

No doubt we should pray for his eternal repose, that God have mercy, for the sins Mandela facilitated are those "that cry out to God for vengeance".  Pray for mercy upon him, but please don't jump on the bandwagon to lionize him.  I lament that even some Christian conservatives are doing precisely that.  Please don't forget the babies he helped kill; too many forget the babies as it is.

Bishop Paprocki To Offer Prayers For Exorcism And Reparation For Sin Of Gay Marriage

Bishop Thomas Paprocki of the Diocese of Springfield (IL) continues to stand strong against the perversion of marriage.  He has announced that at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Nov 20, he will conduct prayer for exorcism and reparation for the sin of "gay marriage" (I use quotes for the phrase "gay marriage" is an oxymoron).  This is the approximate time that Governor Quinn is expected to sign that legislation into law.  There are accounts here and here.

Bishop Paprocki's actions in defense and proclamation of the faith are numerous and stellar, as previously noted here.  Let us pray for more bishops such as he.

Thank You, Father Brian Sistare!

Father Brian Sistare, pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Woonsocket RI has taken stances for the integrity of true marriage.  He has served notice upon the RI state senators who voted for legalization of gay-marriage-make-believe that he will call them out by name (make sure you read Father's actual letter in this link).

Now comes word that Father has denied Holy Communion to two men who are living together in homosexual sin.  Of course gay activists are having snit fits, much like they did when Father Marcel Guarnizo denied Holy Communion to a practicing lesbian at St John Neumann Church in Gaithersburg MD during Lent 2012.  Let us pray that the clergy of Rhode Island join Father Sistare in boldly proclaiming the entirety of God's truth.

Two Catholic Profiles In Courage

PROFILE #1
A few days ago, Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield IL debated dissident faux-nun and New Ways dabbler Sr Jeannine Gramick on the topic of so-called "gay marriage".  The event was entitled "Two Catholic Views on Marriage".  Right off the bat, Bishop Paprocki corrected that misnomer, stating quite clearly that there is only one authentically Catholic view of marriage - which also happens to be the only authentic view of marriage.  He also stated that his late secretary, Mary Stachowicz, was murdered by a gay activist 11 years ago for daring to suggest that he change his lifestyle.  He contrasted the media's silence about her murder in comparison with that of Matthew Shepherd who was murdered at around the same time.  I remember those incidents and recall noticing the disparity of media attention regarding those two crimes.  Please follow this LifesiteNews link for a complete text of the bishop's remarks.  Kudos to Bishop Paprocki for speaking plain truth to the face of political correctness.

PROFILE #2
Mark Birk plays the center position for the Baltimore Ravens.  He went with them to the Super Bowl.  He's also a Catholic and pro-life activist.  Most of the Ravens attended an audience with President Obama.  He opted not to join them, owing to Obama's support of Planned Parenthood and of the murder of babies.  That might make a football fan out of me yet!

It's nice to have some good news for a change!

Father Guarnizo Responds To Bill O'Reilly Bible-Thumping Comments

On the topic of gay marriage Bill O'Reilly seems to be taking great umbrage at conservatives who seek to uphold marriage AND to respect those who recognize the Bible as God's Word.  Go to this Business Insider article.  Embedded therein is a clip of him literally having a temper-snit at Laura Ingraham.  I can only conclude that he knows he is incorrect and is lashing out over a stung conscience.  In this BI clip, you'll see the video of Rush Limbaugh to which O'Reilly and Ingraham allude in the first clip.

In CNS News, Father Marcel Guarnizo has published his own rebuttal of O'Reilly.  He focuses not so much on the "Bible-thump" quip as much as he dwells on more fundamental issues.  Father examines what seems to be libertarian underpinnings of O'Reilly's erroneous attitudes towards "gay marriage" and the inevitable harm that will be wrecked on all concerned: including gay people themselves.  It will not be a "quick read" but one well worth your time.

While I'm sure this hasn't occurred to Father, he makes a cogent (if unconscious) argument why the libertarian philosophy cannot be considered true conservatism.  It cannot even be considered moral.
