Carhart's Indiana Abortuary Among Three Mills Closed This Week

Operation Rescue announced the happy news that three places where children were being murdered are now defunct.  One of them is a baby-killing center where Leroy Carhart worked one day per week.  The place in Indianapolis where Carhart worked was called Affiliated Women's Services and was owned by Lois Bennett.  It seems she owed about $20,000 in county taxes; the place was seized and will be sold at auction so that some of those taxes can be recouped.  It also appears that the Medical Licensing Board of Indiana was investigating the mill over questions related to patient safety.

Operation Rescue broached the Indiana officials about those matters and the latter at least seemed to address them with professionalism and impartiality.  They also broached the State of Maryland regarding Carhart after he sent his third Maryland victim to a hospital (one of them a fatality).  However, the Maryland State government, with the de facto abortuary employees that inhabit high offices in Maryland, have largely turned a blind eye to Carhart's many deficiencies.

Ladies and gentlemen - particularly Maryland citizens - this is why the upcoming election in November is so critical. (Reminder - Faithful Catholics of MD/DC Inc is not a 501c3 charity.  We can make any political statement that we wish).  We need to clean house in Maryland - that means Anthony Brown cannot be allowed to move into the State House; vote for Larry Hogan for governor.  We need to eject the NARAL puppets - including Joshua Sharfstein - from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and other related state agencies.  We also need to rid county-level governments - particularly Montgomery County and Baltimore City - of the NARAL lackeys who wasted taxpayer dollars to try to stymie the First Amendment rights of pro-life pregnancy centers.  Only then do we stand half a chance of abating the slaughter within the State of Maryland.  I'll have more on the elections later.

I rejoice at the closure of Carhart's Indiana mill.  I only regret that this might mean he'll spend more time in Germantown killing babies.

Carhart Sends Another Woman To MD Hospital - Third This Year!

On Feb 7th and July 9th of this year, Leroy Carhart caused two women to be hospitalized as a result of abortions they received at his Germantown facility; for more details read this link.  The woman from Feb 7th, Jennifer Morbelli, died as a direct result of his abortion procedures.

Because of the death, the State of Maryland Office of Health Care Quality conducted an "investigation" of Carhart's practice - or at least went through the motions of doing so.  In May they cleared the Carhart practice.  I learned of this in the Gazette and wrote an open letter to them.  Among other things I pointed out that Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Secretary, Dr Joshua Sharfstein was quoted as saying that "no deficiencies were found" at the Germantown mill - despite reports that are found on the DHMH site (Note: if they're gone, I took the precaution of downloading them, so just advise if they've, uh, "disappeared").  Oh, by the way!  At their October 2013 "evening of chocolate" gala, Maryland NARAL gave one of their "Leadership Awards" to - (Bet you can't guess! - Aw, you peeked!) - Dr. Joshua Sharfstein!  Go to this Defend Life newsletter and scroll to page 12.  Lots of the folks at this event (that we picketed) just gushed with praise for Sharfstein.  And Family Research Council points out that Sharfstein racked up quite a pro-abortion resume.  Way back in April, Jill Stanek noticed Sharfstein's cozy relationships with abortionists.   If you want to see more, just google "Sharfstein NARAL" and you'll see an eyeful.

Boys and girls, given the above, can we all say "fox watching hen-house"?  His May report can be summed up in these words: "Nothing to see here, folks!  Move along!"  His report, along with his chequered career screams of "conflict of interest".  But perhaps I'm being a tad too harsh.  After all, this was just a few months before the July 9th ambulance pulled up at the front door of the Germantown abortuary.

Yesterday, November 26, 2013, 11:45 am, another ambulance pulled up at the door - the second in four months!  The video is below.  At this time I know no additional details.  Operation Rescue states that the woman was taken to Shady Grove Adventist where she underwent emergency surgery.  No staff accompanied her; in fact, as I watch the clip (below) I see no family nor friend get into the ambulance and it doesn't appear that any car was preparing to follow them.  Recall that Carhart has no admitting privileges at any Maryland hospital.  If Maryland had a law similar to that of Texas, Carhart would have to remove his shingle from Germantown.

As long as Sharfstein and his bosses sit in their governmental perches, Carhart will not be dislodged.  In 2014 we have to change a lot of faces in Annapolis to bring about some real reform so that Maryland ceases being the pro-abortion mecca that it has become in recent years.  Now the video...

Did Carhart Attempt To Deceive MD Physicians Board?

According to Operation Rescue, the answer appears to be a resounding "YES".  In Operation Rescue's account, they detail what they saw on the copy of Carhart's MD license application that they received pursuant to their Maryland Public Information Act request.

The website in turn links to a pdf of Carhart's license application.  As you browse through it, notice that the word "abortion" appears not once.  I couldn't even see other euphamisms such as "reproductive services", "family planning" or "pregancy termination".  Of course he stated, as did Vicky Saporta of the National Abortion Federation, that his main purpose in coming to Maryland was to perform late-term abortions, which are permitted under Maryland law.

Operation Rescue has filed a complaint to the Maryland Board of Physicians, shedding the light on Carhart's real motive for his Maryland license application.  As you read the list of Carhart's many, many misdeeds, understand that this list is incorporated into the complaint; that is also linked on the OR website.

Lately the MD Board of Physicians has taken a dim view of abortionists.  Within the past few months, we have seen them suspend and/or revoke the licenses of Stephen Brigham, Nicola Riley, George Shepard and Romeo Ferrer.  We pray that with this case set before them, with its clear-cut evidence, that they'll revoke the license of LeRoy Carhart and send him packing.

Carhart's Fifth Abortion Botch-Job In Germantown Results In Another Woman Taken Away By Ambulance

Almost two weeks ago in Germantown Maryland (July 2) an ambulance pulled up to Germantown Reproductive Health Services and took yet another injured woman to the hospital (presumably Shady Grove).  Since Carhart set up shop there and started murdering babies in the latter parts of their pregnancies, four ambulances have rolled into that parking lot to take women to get real medical help.  In reality, Carhart injured five women; the first, Jennifer Morbelli, was taken to the hospital after her family could not reach Carhart.  She subsequently died.

Operation Rescue has more details here, along with video.  You will note that this incident required the assistance of two ambulance crews.  OR suggests that the Maryland Board of Physicians be contacted and that we demand an honest investigation.  I concur, with a caveat.

In November, the entire State of Maryland government, from the governor on down, is up for election.  I'd suggest that all Maryland citizens of good will do all in their power to keep Anthony Brown from moving into the Statehouse after his boss Martin O'Malley leaves.  As long as the Democrat party of death holds the reins of power, there will be no honest investigation of these abortionists.  Why do we think Carhart set up shop in Maryland in the first place?  O'Malley, Brown and Joshua Sharfstein have been openly wined and dined by Maryland NARAL at their various fundraisers.  Should the Dems retain power, they will NOT upset their gravy-trains.  No success in cleaning up Germantown will occur until we see clean-up in Annapolis and in Montgomery County.

State Of Maryland Starts Carhart Investigation

This past Saturday we learned that three Maryland abortuaries had their licenses suspended by the State of Maryland after long-overdue inspections revealed sub-standard conditions in all three.  Moreover, it was discovered that yet another woman died in the Baltimore mill; no doubt a contributing factor in her death was the non-functional defibrillator in that office.

Today Operation Rescue announced that the Maryland Board of Physicians has started a preliminary investigation into Leroy Carhart's Germantown practice.  The Board made this known in a letter that they sent to Operation Rescue; it can be viewed at the link above.  According to this letter, this sort of investigation can take up to six months to complete.

Through it all Carhart will be free to murder babies as usual.  One wonders why his mill isn't shut while the other three are (and I am grateful that they are closed).  In addition to his demonstrated disregard for Jennifer Morbelli, his license application contained key inaccuracies and he is already under investigation for illegal dumping of biohazards.  But perhaps this seeming disparity of treatments is not so mysterious when "connections" are considered.

Again we can thank Operation Rescue for some insight here.  Three years ago they publicized news - and photos - of a dinner that Kathleen Sebelius (then governor of Kansas) hosted for (the now deceased) George Tiller at the Governor's mansion.  Go to their account for the details - and photos.  Notice that Leroy Carhart was in attendance (he's behind Tiller here).  So there is reason to believe that there is at least an alliance if not working relationship there.  Now Sebelius is HHS Secretary and Carhart is under "investigation" in Maryland.  In Maryland's State House is another pro-abortion governor: one who has eyes set on the White House.  If that is the case, O'Malley will need lots and lots of money to campaign - and these abortionists have demonstrated willingness to "scratch backs of those who scratch theirs".  Might Sebelius have a hand here?  Why not?  They all seem to be one big happy network - much like a bunch of snakes tangled up together.  While it's just a theory, I think it quite plausible.

Carhart Et Al Killed A Woman In Germantown MD

The death occurred yesterday, February 7th.  The 29-yr-old woman had been sighted going in and out of the abortion mill during the early part of this week as she proceeded to allow her 32-week baby to be murdered.  When her family finally took her to a real medical facility, Leroy Carhart was nowhere to be found.  Sadly the woman succumbed to her brutally-sustained injuries, hemorrhaging into her own abdominal cavity.

This is not the first maternal death in which Leroy Carhart has been implicated.  Operation Rescue has much of Carhart's sordid history on record.  Here's a youtube clip of how another Carhart facility conducted a 911 call occasioned by a botched abortion; note how the 911 dispatcher is almost pulling teeth trying to get the details needed to properly instruct the rescue team.   The same Operation Rescue tried to alert the Maryland Board of Physicians of the frauds and inaccuracies that peppered Carhart's application for a Maryland medical license.  I understand that the Board placed a reprimand in Carhart's file - as they awarded to him his license to kill.  A reprimand - nothing more than a token "rap on the knuckles"!  This death is now on their desks and I truly hope that they'll now take much more seriously their responsibilities to the public.  For their past lackadaisical attitude towards the threat that Carhart obviously posed to women, the Maryland Physician's Board has moral culpability in this woman's death - not to mention the thousands of babies that Carhart murdered at the Germantown Reproductive Health Services.

The video below is of the press conference that took place today near the Germantown abortion mill.  On Monday, there will be a memorial service along with another press conference to announce further details regarding this case.  With the prayers, I hope that there is prayer for the repentance of the woman's family.  I was baffled not to hear such prayers in the video as there were prayers for their solace.  There can be no solace without repentance for their part in the deaths of both the baby and his/her mother.

Maryland Catholic Conference Errs (Again) With Death Penalty

In today's Catholic Standard, page 3 in print and online here, the Maryland Catholic Conference is beating its chest over its faux-victoire regarding the abolition of the death penalty in Maryland.  I stated my case clearly how the abolition of the death penalty actually runs counter to Church teaching and Evangelium Vitae in particular.  I needn't rehash all that here.

I also stated in that post that there is an effort underway to petition this abolition to the next Maryland referendum.  I signed that petition, no doubt to the consternation of Mary Ellen Russell.  In the Standard article, read that little insert of hers that's designed to cajole faithful Catholics into eschewing the referendum petition.  She talks of the repeal of the death penalty as "an integral part of our pro-life efforts to uphold the sanctity of all human life."  No, it is not!  I'd strongly suggest that she study Evangelium Vitae and notice that there is a world of difference between the inherent evil of taking the most innocent human life - that is, murder and the exercise of legitimate authority a charge laid upon it by God Himself.

She then takes a direct pot-shot at the referendum effort itself, saying "the referendum will only divide the prolife community and drain scarce time and resources from other more important prolife goals".  Well, guess what, Ms Russell?  On both counts here, it's the Maryland Catholic Conference (under your less-than-stellar leadership) that stands guilty as charged!

Open Letter To The Gazette Papers Regarding Carhart Abortuary

Last February Maryland's Office of Health Care Quality investigated sixteen abortion centers in Maryland.  Of these, twelve were found to be deficient in meeting Maryland regulations.  The Germantown Reproductive Health Services, staffed by Leroy Carhart, was one of the twelve failures.  However, in a very strange article in the May 24th issue of the Gazette newspapers, Dr. Joshua Sharfstein of that Maryland office told the Gazette staff writer that no deficiencies were found at the Carhart center.  Thursday evening I sent the following letter to the Gazette.  I make it public below.  Please note that the hyperlinks will take you to all pertinent background information, including the reports on the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene site.  Now the letter follows:

In the May 24th issue of the Gazette appeared the following article, “State investigation clears Germantown abortion clinic”.  Regrettably the article is factually inaccurate.  Yes, the Office of Health Care Quality did investigate Germantown Reproductive Health Services in February 2013.  On March 26, 2013, that office issued to the abortion clinic a “Notice of Current Deficiencies”.  In its very first paragraph it stated quite plainly that the facility was NOT in compliance with the requirements of the Code of Maryland Regulations 10.12.01.  The report, in its entirety, can be found at the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s web site; it is in pdf format and can be downloaded.  I link to it now.

Among the cited deficiencies of Germantown Reproductive Health Services are the following items:
  • Nurses caring for sedated patients unable to document that they received adequate training.
  •  At least three individuals functioning as registered nurses did not possess valid Maryland licenses
  • No policies were in place to ensure that staff were trained to transfer patients to hospitals in the event of emergencies.
  • Single-dose medication vials were not discarded in accordance with regulations.
  • Unlabeled pre-drawn syringes were found.
  • Instruments were not properly cleaned and sanitized after usage.
The foregoing list is not exhaustive; additional shortcomings are listed in the report.

The Germantown abortion clinic was not the only one investigated by the Office of Health Care Quality.   Sixteen of Maryland’s abortion clinics were examined during the February time frame.  Of those sixteen, twelve failed the inspections.  Again, the reports are found (in downloadable format) on the DHMH website.  In fact, as the article states, four of these centers did have their licenses suspended due to the nature of the shortcomings found in those centers; details can be found in their individual reports.

Dr. Joshua Sharfstein told Senator Midddleton, Representative Hammen and presumably the Gazette staffer Ryan Marshall that “no deficiencies were found” at the Germantown facility.  If he omitted mention of these very significant and relevant reports that are clearly on the DHMH’s site, Dr. Sharfstein was not being completely forthcoming with these individuals and, by extension, to the citizens of Maryland.

Petition For Revocation Of Licenses Of Carhart And Germantown Death Center

Below is a link to a petition initiated by Defend Life for the revoke the Maryland license of Leroy Carhart and to suspend the license of Germantown Reproductive Health Services, Inc.  It is addressed to both the Maryland Board of Physicians and Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.  Please sign this now and pass word of this to your pro-life contacts.  They do not have to be Maryland residents to sign it.  Thank you.

http://www.change.org/petitions/revoke-carhart-s-medical-license-suspend-the-license-of-abortion-facility

Also, please call the comments line of Shady Grove Hospital at 240-826-6920 and insist that they file a formal complaint with the Maryland Board of Physicians to expose Carhart's gross callousness and incompetence.  You may well get a greeting that disavows any responsibility and states that Carhart is not affiliated with the hospital.  While that may be true, they still have a professional responsibility to alert proper authorities of malpractice evidence as it is presented to them.  It certainly was so presented on February 7th. Keep calling until you are at least able to leave a message.

See http://www.prayforgermantown.com/ for other needed steps to take.  And above all, pray to Our Lord this Lent.

Meet One Of Carhart's Deficiencies!

Last week I posted about the investigations of sixteen Maryland abortion mills by the State of Maryland.  Noting the 75% failure rate, I also commented on the multiple failures of the Germantown Reproductive Health Services, where Leroy Carhart murders late-term babies.  The second item of that list mentions that at least three individuals acting as nurses did not possess valid Maryland nursing licenses.  I believe we know the name of one of them.

Lindsey Creekmore has worked as a nurse for Leroy Carhart in both his Nebraska and Maryland facility.  As this Lifenews article states, action is being taken against her Nebraska license for allegedly administering incorrect dosages of sedatives to several patients (notice the first bullet of my post).  Operation Rescue has more details on her, citing her maiden name as Alejandro.  Here's another picture of Creekmore; please note the tattoos.

Here's the Maryland Board of Nursing website.  Click on that and to the left you'll see the link to "look up a licensee".  Search for Lindsey Creekmore, using any permutation of names.  You will not find her.  Yet she was working for Carhart in Germantown.  Here is a picture of her getting out of her car as she arrives at the Germantown facility; again note the tattoos.

The State of Maryland reports indicate that at least two other employees of Germantown Reproductive Health Services were not properly licensed.  I would think that not only is that flagrantly illegal, but also seriously in violation of liability insurance requirements and possibly condominium covenants.  Here's hoping and praying that one of these sets of chickens will come home to roost and that we'll see the hell hole known as Germantown Reproductive Health Services close its doors forever.

Maryland - Good News And Bad News

With the insidious plot by the Messiah Most Miserable to import thousands of his "best-buds" jihadist terrorists masquerading as "refuges", I thought that Maryland (where I live) would have a massive influx.  The fact is that Maryland, for many years, has been a progressive loony bin, politically and morally speaking.  Therefore you can imagine my delight when I heard the news that Governor Larry Hogan is opposed to bringing more of these people into Maryland.  At the time of this writing, about thirty states have made moves to block the importation of these folks into their states - and they have the constitutional authority to do so.  Hogan made this very key statement: "As governor of Maryland, the safety and security of Marylanders remains my first priority."  I have friends who will be reading this who state that "Jesus would welcome the stranger so we must do the same".  I will unpack the errors of that statement in a future post.

Now the bad news.

About 3-5 years ago, an abortionist named Steven Chase Brigham ran into legal trouble in Maryland, when he was found to be aborting illegally; one woman died as a result.  I wrote a bit about it.  To make a long story short, his various abortuaries in Maryland (one of them in Silver Spring) had to close.

Operation Rescue has broken the news that Brigham has reopened his Maryland abortuaries.  He is limiting his practice to medical abortions since licensing for that is less strict than for surgical abortions.  Still, he now poses a threat to women as well as a mortal danger to many babies.  Operation Rescue suggests contacting the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to get these places closed again.  Perhaps they may listen, since Joshua Sharfstein has left that agency.  Pray that Maryland shuts down all these hell-holes.  There is no excuse for reprobates like Brigham and Carhart to be slaughtering babies and maiming women in Maryland.

Come To Germantown MD This Monday

Before I go into the details of Monday's events, let me alert you to some related news.

Several months ago a complaint was filed with the Maryland Board of Physicians on the grounds that Leroy Carhart made false statements on his application for a MD medical license.  Such falsifications should have resulted in the revokation of his MD license.

Several weeks ago, Operation Rescue received a reply from the Board; OR's press release can be found here.  This press release links to the Board's reply to OR.  They have decided to issue an "Advisory Letter" to Carhart.  Note that the reply says that the purpose of such a document is to "inform, educate or admonish a health care provider".  This amounts to a rap on the knuckles; I've got to imagine some deep pockets went behind this perfunctory letter.  However, the fact that this "advisory letter" is going to Carhart is acknowledgment from the Board that the complaints against Carhart have merit.  Will there be further action?  Unfortunately the answer is most likely "yes".  I say "unfortunately" for that means that yet another woman must be injured or perhaps even killed before the Board will take any substantive action.  In the meantime, Carhart will continue his baby-slaughter.

Contrast this inaction with a situation that happened in England recently.  Phanuel Darley, a Marie Stopes abortionist perforated the uterus of a woman and left inside her pieces of the murdered child.  She suffered severe medical complications.  This, and other instances of medical malpractice, induced the General Medical Council to strip him of his license.  Good for them!  They displayed the common sense and courage that is apparently lacking in Maryland's Medical Board.

NOW ONTO MONDAY'S EVENT
This coming Monday, December 5, from 8am-10am, a special prayer vigil will occur at Wisteria Drive and Executive Park Circle in Germantown, to mourn the one-year anniversary of Carhart's arrival in Maryland.  So far, he has murdered over 720 babies in that office complex.  It would be ideal of 1,000 people of good will would come out on this particular day to mourn those tiny children.  Additional details can be found at the site http://www.prayforgermantown.com/

After that, please come every Monday during that time slot.  It is then that the late-term murder process is commenced on women who come to his killing center from all over the country.  You can help end this!

Of Lying For A Medical License

Two weeks ago, it was announced that LeRoy Carhart, late-term baby killer in Germantown, is being investigated by the Maryland Board of Physicians for lying on his license application.

Yesterday brought news that abortionist Nicola Riley surrendered her Wyoming license after coming under investigation there for - lying on her license application.  Read details here.

You might ask "what does one have to do with the other"?  Fair question, and one easily answered.  Riley was associated with Stephen Brigham, who was caught flouting licensing stipulations.  Riley's license was suspended in Maryland.  Read these articles to learn of Riley's chequered baby-killing career in Maryland.

The precedent set by the various state boards in Riley's case bodes well for the suspension and even revokation of Carhart's Maryland license.  Let us pray!

The Death Penalty

As most readers know, the State of Maryland has just abolished the death penalty.  Oh no, I don't mean that Maryland has halted the murder of nearly 100 babies every day vis-a-vis abortion; I mean for the 1 convicted felon who was executed every 4-6 years (at most).  For that, the Maryland bishops lavished praise upon the CINO governor who has been known to use his bully-pulpit to raise funds for Maryland NARAL.

Initially I thought the abolition of the death penalty was a matter on which there could be legitimate disagreement amongst Catholics.  I no longer believe that.  Let me start by differentiating between two concepts that are often erroneously thought to be equivalent; they aren't.  They are:
  1. Opposition to capital punishment
  2. Abolition of the death penalty
One is a matter of personal belief, of prudential judgment.  The other is a matter of public policy.  One does not necessarily imply the other.  Let's now refer to Evangelium Vitae, section 56.  Please read the entire section.  I'll copy below a paragraph from that section.

"It is clear that, for these purposes to be achieved, the nature and extent of the punishment must be carefully evaluated and decided upon, and ought not go to the extreme of executing the offender except in cases of absolute necessity: in other words, when it would not be possible otherwise to defend society. Today however, as a result of steady improvements in the organization of the penal system, such cases are very rare, if not practically non-existent."

Well, these cases are not non-existent.  They might well be rare, but from time to time they do exist; that's just reality.  In those rare cases, Church teaching provides for the imposition of capital punishment by legitimate civil authority.  Why?  Because as the encyclical clearly states, in those cases capital punishment is required to defend society.

Acknowledging that God alone has supreme authority over life, the Church also acknowledges through Scripture and Tradition that God delegates the responsibility of capital punishment to legitimate civil authority.    Such delegation cannot be abdicated by state authorities, for in so doing, they stand in disobedience to the God who laid that charge upon them.   And once again, progressives within the Church hierarchy (and I mean you, Maryland Catholic Conference!) join the Maryland governor and other officials in their arrogance and disobedience as they thumb their noses at the Lord of Life and abdicate their duties and responsibilities to protect innocent life on one hand - and on the other hand, foster the murder of innocent children.

The Maryland bishops would do more for the culture of life if they demanded that the stonewalling of the Carhart investigations cease and that abortion be banned in Maryland.  Stop the murders of the 90+ babies everyday in Maryland before braying about false "triumphs".

My colleague at An Archdiocese of Washington DC Catholic links to a petition to put the matter to referendum.  I in turn will link to his piece.  I will sign the petition.  Knowing that this petition will never be allowed in Church, I urge interested readers to visit that site.

Dobbs - What It Means For Pro-Life Activists

Note: Although I wrote the below article for a local Maryland publication, the same ideas are applicable for many areas of the United States.

(begin article)

On January 22, 1973, the US Supreme Court handed down two decisions that paved the way for the slaughter of millions of babies in the US alone: Roe v Wade and Doe v Balton.  Roe v Wade basically rendered unenforceable all state laws that either limited or banned abortion.  Roe removed all limits during the first trimester of pregnancy and Doe removed them in later parts of the pregnancy “to protect the health of the mother”.  However, Doe’s definition of “health of the mother” included all factors such as “emotional, familial” etc.  This definition therefore included any factors desired by the mother.  Both of these combined amounted to abortion on demand with no restriction whatsoever.

The premises of Roe were acknowledged by both sides of the abortion controversy to be constitutionally flawed.  First, there is the false premise of “privacy”.  It is based on a faulty reading of the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution that barred “unreasonable search and seizure”.  The operative word there is “unreasonable”, for the usage of that word admits the existence of reasonable searches and seizures.  The false premise was utilized in the 1965 case known as Griswold v Connecticut; that ruling allowed for the usage of contraceptives.  It’s interesting that even here we see how the usage of contraceptives paved the way for baby-slaughter, but I digress.

Built into the Roe decision was the acknowledgement that if the fetus were indeed a person, all abortion bans would be constitutional as the unborn child would enjoy all constitutional protections per the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.  Since 1973, medical advances have been made that demonstrate beyond reasonable doubt that the unborn child is as fully human as any adult.  We have the sonogram, for instance, that shows a very human face on the unborn child in his/her mother’s uterus.  We also have seen many advances that have decreased the age at which the unborn child can survive outside of the womb, resulting in the arbitrary benchmark of “viability” being decreased.

With the acknowledgement of Roe’s eventual demise, both pro-abortion and pro-life advocates have been struggling to enact legislation that would either codify Roe v Wade on state books or reinforce protections for unborn children.  On the federal level, pro-abortion activists were successful in having enacted the Freedom of Choice Act after Bill Clinton took office.  Many of us in Maryland will recall the epic battle over SB162 that was enacted to liberalize abortion laws in Maryland, going even beyond the federal Freedom of Choice Act.  Not too surprisingly, that passed, making Maryland a veritable abortion bonanza – more on Maryland later.

A few abortion regulation cases over the years made it to the Supreme Court, only to have the cases decided for the pro-abortion positions owing to the make-up of the Supreme Court.  However, after Donald Trump took office, he replaced Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy, and Rita Ginsberg with Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Comey-Barrett respectively, giving a different tilt to the Court.

On Dec 1, the Supreme Court heard arguments for the Mississippi case called Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization.  Jackson Women’s Health Organization is Mississippi’s lone abortion mill.  They bristled at the 2018 legislation called the Gestational Age Act that limited their baby-slaughter to the first 15 weeks of pregnancy.  Note that this law directly contradicts Roe v Wade; the latter stated that abortion in the first trimester could not be limited.  I want to reiterate that Roe is a court ruling, not enacted law.

I won’t go into any particulars of the discussions during that Supreme Court hearing.  Suffice it to say that the Trump appointees gave indications that they were seriously considering the scientific and constitutional issues underlying the Dobbs case while some Obama appointees displayed quite the opposite.  There is hope that the Mississippi law will stand, meaning the overthrow of Roe v Wade.

The demise of Roe would mean that the anti-abortion laws that several states have would now be enforceable.  In other words, babies would enjoy some safety depending on their location.  Therefore, in some states they would be safe, while still threatened in other states.

Maryland is among that latter group.  Some of us will remember the big abortion battle in Maryland during the 1992 elections, where we fought against SB 162 that legalized abortion in Maryland for any reason and any stage of gestation.  We lost that battle and as a result, Maryland is seen by abortionists as a mecca for baby-slaughter.  Hence we have the likes of Leroy Carhart setting up shop in Montgomery County, a locale that is particularly friendly to abortionists.

We can glean some lessons from this scenario.  As noted earlier in this article, President Trump appointed three Supreme Court justices who are now hearing this case.  Had Hillary Clinton won that election, we know for a fact that she would have appointed pro-abortion justices; she loudly proclaimed that herself.  Under her court, this case would never have been allowed to see the light of day.

Another lesion we can learn is the importance of local-level elections.  If Roe is scuttled, the abortion conflict descends to state levels.  Therefore we now see that we must elect pro-life candidates in all levels of government.

I will now take a moment to address a regrettable tendency among pro-life people that was on display during the 2016 presidential elections.  Then we were presented with two candidates.  Neither one could have been held as a paragon of virtue.  However, one candidate made very clear her intent to promote baby-killing, the normalization of sexual perversion and a host of other evils.  The other, with his admittedly chequered past, promised the opposite.  Misguided pro-lifers trumpeted their disdain in voting for the “lesser of two evils” and decided not to vote at all.  Well, since Our Lord is never a candidate for election, it will be safe to assume that only flawed human beings will seek election.  Such are our options.  To not vote is itself a dereliction of duty to at least mitigate any harm to be done to civic life.  Again, had Trump not won, we would not be presented with this opportunity at all.

There have always been hopes of passing a human life amendment to the US Constitution, guaranteeing constitutional protections to unborn people.  In order for that to happen, the amendment must receive 2/3 votes from both houses of the US Congress and be ratified by 3/4 of the state legislatures.  This will require much political activism on our parts.  To those who claim that the abortion matter will not be solved by politics, I reply that they are correct in saying that politics itself will not be sufficient.  However, politics will be necessary as we strive for protection of the unborn child.

For Maryland, an immediate consequence of Roe’s demise would be an uptick in the numbers of abortions committed here.  The bordering states of Virginia and Pennsylvania do have abortion restrictions on their books that would become enforceable.  Once that happens, abortion-bound persons would be crossing into Maryland to murder their children.  Therefore, pro-life people, more than ever, will be needed in front of the abortion centers to pray and to offer assistance to abortion-bound women.

Will you accept the opportunities and challenges that a Roe reversal would bring to Maryland?

Carhart Instructed Patients To Avoid ER

Operation Rescue reports that in 2007, then Kansas governor Kathleen Sebelius hosted a party for George Tiller and several of his associates - including Leroy Carhart.  A photo of Carhart and Sebelius together can be seen on OR's web page.  Because of Sebelius's conduct during the investigation of Christin Gilbert's death, there is reasonable cause for concern that Sebelius might use her influential position to hinder any real investigation into the death of Jennifer Morbelli in Germantown.

Jill Stanek and others report that the Maryland AG's Environmental Crimes Unit is (finally) taking seriously the illegal dumping done by the Carhart cartel.  I myself wrote about that last July.  On Jill's blog are pictures of patient instructions that are distributed by his office.  In the middle of the first blue piece of paper you'll note that the patient who is experiencing distress is directed "not to go to the ER" but to call the staff.  Well, if someone's bleeding to death (as was Jennifer), what was "the staff" to do?  Remember - Carhart does not have hospital privileges in Maryland.  Now why, oh why, do you think that Carhart wanted no one to go to the ER?  Let me spell it out for the self-deluded who are reading this:  it's because he didn't want his bumbling incompetence to come to the attention of medical authorities.

It's reasonable to suppose that the Morbellis were given these instructions.  Did they try to comply with them?  If so, they wasted valuable time.  Perhaps Jennifer would have survived had she immediately sought competent medical treatment.

Leroy Carhart Sends Woman Number Nine To Hospital

Leroy Carhart is a busy man.  A very busy man!  Just four days after causing the emergency hospitalization of a patient of his in Germantown MD (Nov 26, to be exact), he caused the hospitalization of another woman at his Bellevue NE chop shop "clinic".   Here are details from Operation Rescue.  That makes four of them during 2013, with one of them being a fatality  At the rate he's going, he should have little private ambulances ready at his facilities in their own reserved parking spaces for his future botch-up jobs that will inevitably occur.  They may well happen sooner rather than later.

Below is an Operation Rescue video that highlights the nine women injured - correction, seven injured, two killed - at the hand of Leroy Carhart.  Watch and listen at the 1:15 mark (the fifth botch-up).  The Carhart woman placing the call is trying to get information from "Lindsey" at 1:27.   Lindsey seems not to be forthcoming in that scene.  It's quite likely she's the Lindsey Creekmore mentioned in the OR article.  The Nebraska Attorney General is trying to revoke her license; the hearing is scheduled for next March.  She has been seen at Germantown; I've written about her.  The Maryland Board of Nursing website gives no evidence that she ever applied for a Maryland license while she worked here.  However, if her Nebraska license is revoked, I would not be the least bit surprised if she resurfaced in Germantown.

Will Carhart's license to practice ever be terminated?  To be frank, I don't think that will ever happen until there is serious house-cleaning in Annapolis; 2014 would be a good time to start.  The current crop of officials is too much in the back pockets of the abortionists - from O'Malley right on down to their appointees like Sharfstein.  We need to get busy.

Important note: I mentioned two fatalities.  For the sake of this discussion I limited myself to maternal casualties.  In reality there have been thousands of casualites, the babies murdered by Leroy Carhart.  Pray for his repentance.  Now the video...

Leroy Carhart Causes Another Woman To Be Hospitalized At His Germantown Death Center

Yesterday pro-life activists in Germantown MD saw an ambulance pull in front of Germantown Reproductive Health Center.  Apparently the woman sustained "life-threatening complications".  Operation Rescue broke the story so I refer you to their page for further details.

Let me point out that this is the fourth woman that was endangered and hospitalized as a result of "reproductive health" at this Germantown facility in the past thirteen months.  In the first incident, Jennifer Morbelli died.  After the third incident, I passed out a flyer to other occupants of the Germantown Executive Center complex.  That was last November.  In that flyer I quipped that at the rate Carhart was going, the complex should have a reserved parking space for an ambulance in front of the abortuary.  Looking back I realize that was not just a smart-ass comment; it was a prophesy.

I'll also point out that for all the women that Carhart is sending to the hospital, he himself has no privileges in any Maryland hospital.  His whole career in Maryland has been spectacularly chequered, starting with falsified license applications, unlicensed personnel working for him, citations for deficiencies, etc.  These things might suffice to halt the practice of doctors in other fields, but in Maryland, where the politicians are in the hip pockets of NARAL, blind eyes behold not the glaring anomalies in Germantown.

We, particularly those of us in Maryland, must stand up and demand action.  Shine the light on this mess.  Please share this post.  Go onto Facebook, Twitter and other social media and alert your acquaintances to this travesty.  The mainstream media won't so it's up to us.  Above all, pray that this man be put out of his murder-business and come to repentance.  He's not a young man and is running out of time before he must meet his Maker.

MD Medical Examiner: Morbelli Died From Abortion Complications

The office Chief Medical Examiner of Maryland has released its findings regarding the death of Jennifer Morbelli on Feb 7 at the hands of Leroy Carhart.  From Operation Rescue we read that there were two causes of death:
  1. amniotic fluid embolism - Amniotic fluid that was surrounding the pre-born Madison entered Jennifer's blood stream.  This inhibited the ability to clot blood, leaving her vulnerable to hemorrhaging.
  2. the profuse abdominal bleeding
She and her family most likely received Carhart's standard instructions not to consult an emergency room but rather to call his "24 hour number".  Well, it turns out that this "24-hour number" was the number to Carhart's horse show equipment business.  The family was unable to contact him; was the line engage with horse hay buyers?

While this death was ruled "natural", charges of malpractice against Carhart are most definitely not precluded.  The Montgomery County Police have opened an investigation and are awaiting the full autopsy to proceed.

Please go to the site "Pray for Germantown" to learn some action steps that we should all take to have this menace known as Leroy Carhart evicted from Maryland.

Two Abortionists Get Spanked

One of them is Martin Haskell, who murdered babies in the Cincinnati OH area.  The Ohio Department of Health finally ordered him to cease all abortions by August 22.  He has decided not to appeal.  That's one death chamber that will no longer see the butchery of babies.

The other situation literally strikes close to home.  Leroy Carhart, late term abortionist, kills babies not ten miles from my home.  He also does so in Nebraska, so he splits his time between his two death mills.  The Nebraska Department of Health has decided to investigate him, owing to the eight women he has recently injured both in Nebraska and Maryland.  The OR article to which I linked states that "Maryland authorities seem unconcerned with the pattern of injuries inflicted by Carhart's dubious practices.."  No, it's more insidious than just passive indifference.  The abortion-loving administration in Annapolis actively covers for these abortionists and stonewalls any attempt to bring sanity and justice regarding the killing of babies in Maryland.  Put the words "Joshua Sharfstein" in my search box - or just google "Sharfstein NARAL"; you'll get an eyeful of the corruption that exists in Maryland's medical oversight apparatus.

I congratulate the states of Ohio and Nebraska for taking actions against two menaces to babies and women.  As for Maryland, our situation will change if and only if we can "clean house" with the elections this coming November.
