A few days ago, Kansas City Mayor Quintin Lucas ordered churches to turn over names and addresses of all those who attended their worship services. Obviously that is an action that one might expect to find in Red China, but not in the United States. Many good people thought the same thing too, when this news went viral. Realizing he was not going to escape public scrutiny, the less-than-illustrious mayor backpedaled his order. Similarly, we all heard the saga of Shelly Luther, the Dallas hair stylist who was sentenced to 7 days in jail for opening her salon. It seems that she believed that she and her employees needed to work to feed their families. Read the account of her trial before an Obama-appointed judge who ordered her to apologize. She refused. Governor Abbott ordered her released. We hope some of that common sense prevails in Michigan, where a homeowner faces 93 days in jail for growing a vegetable garden in her yard. How on earth a vegetable garden could ever spread any disease is beyond me. I hope the woman sues.
Recently, US Attorney General Barr announced that it's time to roll back the draconian restrictions that have been placed on US citizens by state and local governments. He stated quite clearly that "the Bill of Rights doesn't go away during a crisis". In many ways he echoed the words that US Congressman Andy Harris spoke to us this past Saturday in Salisbury.
Some lawsuits against tin-horn governors, including my own, are in progress. Tabernacle Baptist Church is suing Kentucky Governor Beshear for closing churches while allowing abortuaries to remain open. A few days ago, Reopen MD, along with three state delegates, filed suit in the US District Courts to end Hogan's dictatorial escapades. Embedded in this post is the text of the complaint.
We now read the news that Chicago pastors plan to reopen their churches, regardless of the dictates of the mayor. Sadly, but not at all suprisingly, no Catholic clerics joined these courageous pastors. I've outlined in previous posts some of the despicable antics of our prelates, no need to rehash that here.
Other prelates are speaking out. In an interview, Cardinal Gerhardt Muller flat out said that no bishop has the right to ban public Masses. Apparantly there have been some silly suggestions regarding the distribution of Holy Communion in plastic baggies. Cardinal Sarah rebuked that nonsense squarely.
These two cardinals, along with other prelates and leading Catholics, have issued a warning to the world in light of the covid pandemic. They see clearly that this is being used to insinuate a dangerous, one-world government that is all-encompassing and tyranical, and to destroy western civilization. They state so quite clearly. All should read it, especially those good pro-lifers who are all too willing to give our politicians a pass on their encroachments on our civil liberties. This simplistic, passive stance towards the events of the past two weeks is very dangerous. I've stated before that we've forgotten who we are as Catholics and as US citizens.
The various protests give hopeful signs that some are starting to wake up. What faithful Catholics need to do is understand that many of our prelates are in cahoots in the attempt to establish this one world government, about which Cardinals Zen, Muller and others warn. There is much more to world events than meets the eye. We must pray to have our eyes opened and to have the courage and vision to do what needs to be done.

Local Tin-Horn Tyrants Manifest Themselves
People are indeed acting like chickens with their heads cut off. Certainly their brains have been short-circuited. Consider NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio. His latest hysterics were caused by a group of Orthodox Jews engaging in a funeral service. He snarled at both Jews and Christians saying "the time for warnings has passed" and "you need to stop services". Now what was that about "separation of Church and state again"? Of course we always knew that when the left uttered that mantra, they meant that religious beliefs were not permitted to be implemented in public arena - all about the marginalization of faith. That marginalization has been racheted up a few notches, so now the state is invading houses of worship. But I digress! Say! Isn't this the same fellow who decided to "donate" over 400,000 meals to Muslims to break their ramadan fasts? Guess who's really paying for that? Gotta love that selective "separation of church and state"! So is De Blasio blaming the covid death rate of NYC on Jews?
Al Gore begs to differ! According to him, the real cuprit behind covid is fossil fuels! It's all that global warming, you know! But wait a minute! Doesn't the covid-19 virus disintegrate in warm temperatures? My! Talk about an Inconvenient Truth!
All too often, though, our bishops outdo the secular dictators in sheer pettiness and stupidity. I admit that Canada is a bit further down the rabbit hole of lunacy than are we, but we're not that far behind. Bishop Albert Thevonet of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, really believes that marriage is bad for "social distancing"! Very bad! But if they must get married, Thevonet insists that weddings confom to local health regulations. That means that bride and groom must stand two meters apart during the nuptial Mass! I'm not kidding! At first I thought I was reading the Babylon Bee! What sane person would cough up this crap? None! Just what does this bishop expect the hapless newlyweds to do on their wedding night?
Wisconsin police (of Calumet County) harrass a mother for the high crime and misdemeanor of (gasp!) letting her daughter play at a neighbor's home. Watch that exchange! The male deputy is Matthew Eberhardt. The sheriff's department webpage is already in damage control mode. Contact them and let them know your displeasure at their unconstitutional overreach.
Here's Knox County TN telling churches they may not distribute Communion. According to those local despots, Communion is "not deemed core worship". So now they have the chutzpah to dictate our doctrine to us???
Some good people are starting to stand up for their liberties. Here's an account of a Virginia church that is suing the governor of Virginia for his unconstitutional stay at home order.
Meanwhile, here in the People's Republic of Maryland, Hogan shows no signs of letting up with his draconian measures. His press conferences aren't much more than exercises in preening and posturing. Ad nauseum we are told how he, as governor, was ahead of most other states in dealing with the pandemic. Oddly enough, though, we are lagging behind in the resumption of our civil liberties and economic life. I sense an inconsistency here.
Ah, but he is taking measures! You'll be reassured to know that the Baltimore City Police is hiring (drum roll, please) Covid-19 Social Compliance Officers! Take a gander at that advertisement and the qualifications for which they seek! Military experience! De-escalation skills (whatever the hell that means)! Now look at the "pay and benefits" section. There's "opportunity for growth"! No wait a minute! Doesn't "growth" require time, and a considerable amount at that? Just how long do the oligarchs plan to keep this lockdown in place? According to what Hogan said in the early days, we'd be getting back to normal soon, precluding any such "opportunity for growth"!
Now if Hogan is really gung-ho on public safety, then why, oh why, is he getting set to release hundreds of prison inmates into society? Is it to make room in the jails for those recalcitrant "selfish" ones who simply want to support their families and walk "the wrong way" down the grocery store aisles? Far-fetched? Then why did four separate police departments descend upon a Cecil County restaurant owner when he served carry-out in compliance with all "social distancing" regs? He is demanding answers and I hope he files suit.
WTOP has some questions about Hogan. They too have noticed him bragging about himself and his multitude of public appearances. Normally I don't pay too much attention to mainstream media but this time I think they are on to something. Hogan is on his second term as governor. He can't run again for that seat. But he can run for federal office. Chris Van Hollen is up for reelection in 2022. Does he seek that seat?
It's quite possible that he has his sights set on the presidency, perhaps even to challenge Trump for this coming presidential election. Consider what he is doing with those 500,000 test kits that he just got from South Korea. No, I am NOT quoting the Onion on this. He has them stashed away in a secret location, guarded by both Maryland State Troopers and the Maryland National Guard, against the federal government, i.e., President Trump. Talk about a direct slap in the face to the president - or maybe it's just paranoia! Actually I think it's just purely political posturing at our expense. I don't think the kits have been tested by the FDA so how can Hogan be sure that they aren't tainted? This is crap that I would have expected from Hillary or Obama, not a GOP governor.
Hogan needs to retire, but first he needs to do something decent and start the reopening of Maryland, and the nationwide tyranny needs to stop.

Welcome To Our New Orwellian World - UPDATED
Benjamin Franklin is quoted as saying, "those who surrender essential liberties to attain a little temporary safety deserve neither and will lose both". How his words are ringing true as many American citizens are literally clamoring for martial law, believing that will keep them safe from the covid-19 virus. Those who do so disgrace the generations of Americans who literally died to secure the freedoms that we so dismissively squander today. Yes, we need to take reasonable measures - wash hands, stay home if we are sick or vulnerable, but to shut down our churches and our country? For shame!
Quite a few of us see the dangers of undermining our constitution and are raising alarms. For our efforts we are decried as "selfish" and even "murderers" by the hysterical snowflakes who are begging Big Brother Government to step in. Unfortunately it is. To wit:
Quite a few of us see the dangers of undermining our constitution and are raising alarms. For our efforts we are decried as "selfish" and even "murderers" by the hysterical snowflakes who are begging Big Brother Government to step in. Unfortunately it is. To wit:
- Virginia governor Northam issued an executive order stating that those engaging in public or private gatherings of more than 10 can go to jail for a year.
- In Greenville, MS, police raided a "drive-in" service at Temple Baptist Church and issued $500 tickets to everyone in attendance.
- In San Diego, some people went to the beach to watch the sunset. They were ticketed for $1k each.
- In Louisville KY, a snowflake doctor got enraged at the sight of girls "not practicing social distancing" and physically attacked them, actually strangling one of them (she only has minor injuries). Fortunately he was arrested. All the police had to say is that it wasn't advisable for people to take matters into their own hands; rather they should simply play snitches. Perhaps while this doctor is in jail, someone should remind him that putting his hands on people's necks is not "proper social distancing". Josef Mengele would have admired him.
- In Pennsylvania, a woman was pulled over and fined $200 just for driving her car. Fortunately the local DA threw out the citation.
- In Colorado, a former state trooper was in a public park with his family in compliance with posted regulations. A swarm of police officers came up to him, demanded his id. When he refused, they threatened to "put you in handcuffs in front of your 6-year old daughter". That they did and put him in a cruiser. Fortuantely a local city councilperson caught the whole thing on video. The police department apologized. The man is considering legal action and I hope he follows through.
- Not to be outdone is my own home state, the People's Republic of Maryland. 14 arrests, 600+ citations. Look at that chart. Private homes? What are they doing? Bashing in the doors?
- In Baltimore, where 10 people can congregate, police shut down a church service of 10 people. It took 8 cops to do it.
- And then there's this little gem that you see to the right, that someone found on their car. Note that buzz-word "selfish", in keeping with the group-think mentality.
It gets worse. Now local officials are encouraging and even paying citizens to spy on each other. The Chi-Coms have nothing on us now.
- New York City set up a website to facilitate citizen-snitching.
- The Los Angeles mayor announced that "snitches get rewards". What's the price? Thirty pieces of silver?
- Bellevue, WA has gone high-tech with its snitching, offering an app to do so.
- By the way, in all these Democrat-run areas where snitching is occurring, guess what the powers-that-be hold sacrosanct? Abortion!
I won't even address the progressive dupes who are just salivating over the obvious socialistic thrust of all this, but rather, faithful Catholics. By your short-sighted excusing and even support of encroachment on your First Amendment rights, you have paved the way for the list that I just provided. Be assured that this list will grow. Please wake up!

US Supreme Court Upholds Christian Baker's First Amendment Rights
In a 7-2 vote, the US Supreme Court sided today with Jack Philips, a Christian who owns and operates Masterpiece Cakeshop. Mr. Philips refused to make a wedding cake for the fake #mowwidge of two sodomites.
The Supreme Court declared that Phillips did not get a fair hearing from the Colorado Civil Rights Commission. They noted the hostility towards Phillip's beliefs in Colorado's written opinions. Even Elena Kagan and Stephen Breyer, two progressive Justices found Colorado's bigotry to be unacceptable and delivered to them a much-needed smackdown.
This bodes well for the other Christian-owned small businesses that are similarly threatened by the gaystapo juggernaut that seeks to relegate Christians to the status of "niggers of the new age". For this victory we thank God and give a shout-out to Alliance Defending Freedom and to Mr. Phillips and the other Christian business owners who are taking stands for God and His Laws.

Death-Camp Neighbors At Spring Street - Today's Nazi Citizens
For the last 10+ years, several of us pro-life activists have been outside the Planned Parenthood in Silver Spring MD to pray for an end to the barbarity occurring in suite 450 of 1400 Spring Street in Silver Spring MD. We also offer real help to women going into that hell hole, aware that many feel they have no alternative due to difficult personal circumstances. See here for some accounts of our outreaches.
We are in Silver Spring MD, a notorious nest of progressives and pro-abortion individuals. Many of them are in the neighborhood just across the street from us. I have written before of some acrimonious interactions between them and us. I draw your attention to this piece. In it I made mention of the Nazi death camps and their surrounding neighborhoods. When the Allies invaded Germany and liberated the death camps, they forced the citizens of the neighboring towns to tour the camps and witness the carnage that they allowed to happen. Here is an account of such an exercise.
You'll notice that an excuse that the Germans gave was "we didn't know". Whether or not that is true we'll never know. What we do know is that there is now no such excuse, especially when we who seek to inform are discounted and even hated for the information we bring them. Such has been the case for the Woodside neighborhood just to our north. It was evidenced in this incident five years ago and again today.
In the wake of the CMP videos regarding Planned Parenthood's murder of babies and selling of their bodies, we have launched an effort to defund Planned Parenthood. One of our number arrived late today and parked her car in the neighborhood. She was legally parked and put her "Defund Planned Parenthood" inside her front windshield.
Some time later a man from the neighborhood approached two of our number (neither of them the owner of the car) and voiced his objections to the sign. What were his objections? Well, it seems that he was hosting a birthday party for his child and thought it "inappropriate" for the children to see.
Let's ponder the inane silliness of what this guy was saying. First, let's forget about objections to "those gory pictures" for none were present on her car.

Let's ponder the inane silliness of what this guy was saying. First, let's forget about objections to "those gory pictures" for none were present on her car.
- Any kids I know who attend birthday parties would not notice such signage (no more so than other signs on other cars). They'd be focused on ice cream, cake, gifts and games.
- We know who would find the signs "inappropriate". It would be those who support baby-murder, so we can consider as potential "offendees" the man and/or his adult guests.
- If anything is "inappropriate for children", it's Planned Parenthood itself. It is very "inappropriate" to murder tiny children and exploit their corpses for "research".
So the guy finally left. An hour or so later, one of our number noticed that the windshield had been covered over so that the sign was blocked. Boys and girls, can we say "vandalism"? Consider the arrogance. The guy had his grubby paws on my friend's car, arbitrarily and erroneously deciding that her First Amendment rights were not to be respected: most likely because what her sign said pricked his guilty pro-abortion conscience.
Fortunately - for the guy - it was not anything that could not be removed. And it was removed by the driver's husband. Afterwards I took some pictures and now post them below.
You can see that the car, with sign in front windshield, is legally parked.
This is the sign that the guy covered over. His act of covering the sign is legally actionable.
It was parked in front of 8706 2nd Avenue, Silver Spring, MD. The man who approached the two women said the car was parked "in front of his house", so this must be where he lives.

US Supreme Court Strikes Down Massachusetts Bubble Zone Law
The Supreme Court, in its unanimous ruling in McCullen v Coakley, upheld the First Amendment rights of pro-life activists in Massachusetts by ruling that the 35-foot bubble zone was unconstitutional. Here is a more in-depth analysis from LifeSiteNews. Here is CBS covering the ruling, with an interview of Matt Bowman of Alliance Defending Freedom.
Rob Schenk was in the court chambers as the ruling was pronounced. Below are his remarks.
This ruling will obviously bode well for those of us across the nation who pray and offer help to abortion-minded ladies. In gratitude for this ruling, won't you please join some pro-lifers who are already at an abortuary nearby you?

Some Religions Are More Equal Than Others
How Orwellian the Obama regime has become. We hear now that the Department of Justice (of AP-email-snooping infamy) is rattling its saber against those of us who dare question the portrayal of Islam as a "religion of peace". DOJ official William Killian said that federal civil rights laws can be violated by those who post "inflammatory documents aimed at Muslims" on social media. Only these Minions Most Mindless know what constitutes "inflammatory" in their (excuses for) minds.
So if I link to the article about the Muslim who murdered and beheaded two Coptic Christians in Jersey City, am I being "inflammatory"? How about if I link to this interview of an Egyptian Muslim cleric who gives pointers on how to properly beat one's wife? (By the way - where are all the feminists? Why, oh why, aren't they in an uproar over this?)
Well, speak I will. This is still the United States of America, where there is at least still some lip service paid to the Constitution - for now. Go to this Breitbart article about last week's Congressional hearing regarding the DOJ misadventures. Trent Franks is questioning Thomas Perez, Assistant Attorney General of the DOJ Civil Rights Division.
This "inflammatory" nonsense is simply a ploy to get good people to shut up about the obvious encroachment attempt by adherents to a violent ideology. By the way, if Islam is truly a "religion of peace", would someone please point me to the links where mainstream muslims denounce their misbehaving brethren for beating women, blowing up the Boston Marathon, 9/11, etc?

IRS - Rotten To The Core
Like dandelion weeds suddenly sprouting all over a lawn, we have all seen more and more manifestations of IRS thuggery appearing almost hourly throughout the internet. There is not time to comment on them all. I will list below some key links.
IRS Targets Catholic Critics of Obama Regime
IRS Targeted Conservative College Interns
True The Vote Waiting on Tax-Exempt Status
Bachman: IRS Admissions Cast Doubt on Validity of 2012 Elections
Tea-Party Protesters Met By Armed DHS Guards
Reporters Given Forced Armed Escort in IRS Building
IRS's Lerner Has History of Harassing
Speaking of Lois Lerner, she's going before the House committee tomorrow. She plans to refuse to answer questions and to invoke the Fifth Amendment. She doesn't want to incriminate herself. But doesn't that constitute a tacit admission that her answers would incriminate her? But really - she needn't resort to that! She could just join some of her fellow progressives in laying the blame for the IRS debacle at the feet of (betcha can't guess!) - George Bush! Surprise!
It's probably long past time that the Internal Revenue Service was abolished. It is a threat to our republic.

Johns Hopkins U Sees The Error Of Its Way
Voice for Life, a student pro-life group on the campus of Johns Hopkins U in Baltimore, had been an officially-recognized student organization for fifteen years. When it applied for re-recognition, the Student Government Association denied their application. The basis for denial was strictly on account of VFL's pro-life advocacy. The SGA overstepped their bounds, no doubt due to their own pro-abortion proclivities. One SGA member went so far as to equate VFL with a "white supremist group".
The Thomas More Law Center intervened on behalf of VFL. Today it was announced that the Student Government Association Judiciary Committee reversed the SGA ruling of March 24 and now Voice for Life enjoys the rights that all other JHU student groups enjoy.
HT to Jill Stanek's blog for the story; please follow that link for further details. Ladies and gentlemen of good will, this is no time to be passive and demure. We must stand up for our rights and not be afraid to get a little dirt under our fingernails. Congratulations to these students.

More Liberal Self-Righteousness At The Abortion Mill
Yesterday at the Planned Parenthood in Silver Spring, MD, another neighborhood malcontent attempted to remove the pro-life signs on his own dubious authority. This case was a little different from the rest. He seemed to be enraged over one sign only - the sign with the word "abortionist" on it. So no, one cannot blame the "horrible graphic pictures" this time!
While he was grabbing for the sign, two men (one a priest) from our group approached. Their presence must have caused the man to reconsider the wisdom (or lack thereof) of his endeavors. He did call the police but left before they arrived.
Please note some things:
While he was grabbing for the sign, two men (one a priest) from our group approached. Their presence must have caused the man to reconsider the wisdom (or lack thereof) of his endeavors. He did call the police but left before they arrived.
Please note some things:
- For all the self-righteous snooting and snorting that progressives heave our way, complaining that we "force our views" on others, this fellow seemed to have no qualms about literally forcing his views on us by attempting to steal the sign.
- You'll notice his complaints about the sign "inciting violence". It seems the only violence being "incited" was his own. Do you think that maybe, just maybe, his lack of self-control or his own arrogance might have been contributing factors? Oh, no!! Perish the thought!!! It was all the fault of an arrow-shaped yellow sign no higher than the knee!
- Towards the end, you'll hear him try to utter some lame excuse that the "abortionist" sign pointed out a specific individual. What nonsense! How many people listed in the White Pages go by the name "abortionist"?
- That these people think they can arbitrate who gets to enjoy First Amendment rights should surprise no one. After all, they seem to think they can determine if a baby should be allowed to be born or to be subject to murder.

Support Chick-Fil-A Day
Well, I tried to buy dinner at the Germantown MD Chick-Fil-A! But by the time I broke away from the office and drove to Germantown, it was apparent that I'd be waiting at least an hour before getting through the door. But it was a heartening sight to see, especially in the Liberal-La-La-Land known as Montgomery County MD. I imagine that Ike Leggett, the County Council and all their progressive money-bags must be shaking their heads and fists, but I digress!
So that you too can see signs of common sense and decency in Montgomery County MD, I share with you now what I saw in Germantown a few hours ago. It is a sight that was (probably still is in the western time zones) common across the USA at Chick-Fil-A's. Enjoy! Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Hats Off To Daniel Glowacki!
Who is Daniel Glowacki? He is the high-school junior who is standing up for his rights as a Catholic to hold and express his beliefs.
On October 10, 2010, as he walked into his economics class at Howell High School in Howell, Michigan, he was ordered to remove his belt buckle by the teacher, Johnson "Jay" McDowell. The belt buckle bore the Confederate flag and McDowell considered himself "offended" by it. At the same time, McDowell was wearing a purple tee-shirt decrying alleged "bullying of gays". When Glowacki pointed out the obvious double-standard regarding classroom attire, McDowell questioned him on the spot about his feelings on homosexuality. Glowacki replied to the question by stating that as a Catholic he was offended by the gay lifestyle. Immediately he was ordered to leave the classroom under threat of suspension. McDowell then posed the same question to the rest of his class - and summarily threw out yet another student.
The gay cartel wasted no time jumping on Glowacki, like vultures swooping in for their prey. The school district sided with their "anti-bullying" bully - who just happens to be the school leader for the teachers' union (ahem!). Ellen DeGeneres even jumped into the fray.
Also jumping into the fray, though, is the Thomas More Law Center. They are representing Glowacki and his family in a federal lawsuit filed against the school district. Good for them! At this point in time, Glowacki is probably eighteen years old. I applaud him for showing not only the courage not to back down in the classroom but also for standing up and saying to McDowell and his cronies that he has First Amendment rights and there will be consequences for those who infringe upon them.
In the meantime, please consider contacting the school itself at http://www.howellschools.com/staff_directory.cfm?school=1952 McDowell is number 86. The principal is Aaron Moran, number 103. Go to their entries for specific email addresses. General mailing address and phone/fax numbers are at the top.

NARAL's "Chocolates For Choice" - Picketed!
Although a small crew of us were there to speak words of righteousness and repentance to NARAL's shindig last night (that both served as blood-feast and fund-raiser), it was enough to hopefully prick a few consciences and to cause them to reconsider their hell-bent paths of life.
Often, when consciences are pricked, anger is a first reaction. While we hope that this anger engenders subsequent reflection, that isn't always the case. Suffice it to say that consciences were pricked. We were also in downtown Rockville which is the seat of Montgomery County government - that is, we were in the heart of one of the top liberal lala lands in the US.
The NARAL folks were a bit miffed that the exposed truth of what they're promoting might cause their chocolates to go sour. They called the police - the Rockville City Police in this case. Four officers showe up - one for each of us! One of the officers had this exchange with one of us. (Click here if you cannot see embedded video).
Notice that the officers' main point is that "people don't like seeing the signs" (paraphrased, but listen for yourselves). Well, so what? Since when is exercise of First Amendment rights grounds for police action? Then he said that the folks attending the bloodfeast wanted to have a nice evening (again, paraphrased). That's laughable! A "nice evening" with chocolates paid with (at least in part) the blood money paid to murder babies!
After claiming that some realty company actually owns Gibbs Street, they told us to cross Beall Avenue or get arrested. It turns out that was actually advantageous for our purposes, since most of the NARAL attendees were parking there anyway - and walking right by us. Even after we crossed the street, the cops stuck around. I suppose the City of Rockville is so crime-free that four officers can just lolly-gag around to keep those dangerous signs and pamphlets away from those who profit from the murder of babies. Perhaps that's the fault of their dispatch officer; at any rate, the City of Rockville just wasted tax dollars to soothe the consciences of NARAL.
There's hope for the NARAL folks, though. If Bernard Nathanson, a founder of NARAL, can convert and devote the rest of his life to fighting abortion, then so can anyone of them.
By the way! Take a look at the webpage announcing the event! In particular, note the third paragraph, first sentence, where it says, "As in years past, we will feature our famous chocolate martinis and decedent chocolate desserts" Now note that underlined word. One might think that was just a careless spelling mistake when they meant to say "decadent". Consider that the word "decedent" means "dead person". Might we have an unconscious acknowledgment that this event was a blood-feast? (NARAL, don't bother changing it now! Many of us have already cached the page!)

Pro-Lifers' Free Speech Rights Vindicated In Harford County MD
In the summer of 2008, a number of pro-life demonstrators were arrested in Harford County. Some of the young women were subjected to multiple strip searches. The pro-lifers subsequently filed civil suit, with the assistance of the Alliance Defense Fund, American Catholic Lawyers' Association and the Thomas More Society. Defend Life, to which I link on the right side bar, was one of the plaintiffs.
On July 13th, federal judge Richard Bennett ruled in favor of the pro-life plaintiffs, agreeing that their First and Fourth Amendment rights were utterly disregarded by Maryland state troopers. We congratulate our pro-life colleagues and give thanks to God.

Montgomery County Gazette And Free Speech
About a month ago some reporters from the Gazette papers interviewed some of us who witness at the Spring Street Planned Parenthood in Silver Spring MD. The article appeared in last week's edition. Considering that the Gazette is owned by the Washington Post, a mainstream media outlet that makes no secret of its left-wing bias, the article was relatively decent although it was a tad distorted to the left.
This week the editorial staff weighed in with their editorial. Here is the link. Notice the first sentence, where they outright accuse us of overstepping the First Amendment into "harassment". The article also applies "hindrance" to our activiites, conceding to the perjorative terminology employed by the "Washington Clinic Defense Task Force". That is factually incorrect. In no way do we hinder or block those going into the building. We offer them information that is relevant to their situations - or at least we attempt to do so, for it is we who are hindered by the "clinic volunteers". Here is some prima facie evidence. Click here if you can't see embedded video.
One sentence in this editorial is almost breathtaking in its inadvertent honesty. I quote: "Women entering clinics may not be in the best frame of mind to talk with a stranger and think seriously about their decision." That's right! The Gazette is admitting that many of these women are NOT thinking seriously about their decisions. We simply urge them to do so, as a decision to abort their babies will have devastating consequences on them - maybe not immediately but those consequences will make their presence felt. Later on the Gazette states that the decsion to abort is "life-changing". We agree! Should they not be offered all available information? As you saw in the video, who's doing the "hindering"? More importantly, who is being harmed by the "hindrance"? The women - and their unborn children!

High School Graduates Stand Up To ACLU
At Bastrop High School in Louisiana, on May 20th, the graduating class, led by Laci Rae Mattice, went ahead with their traditional prayer despite ACLU's saber-rattling on behalf of one atheist student. You can read the account here, I hope this young lady considers a career in politics; Lord knows we need representatives with Christian conviction and courage.
As for the young atheist, I hope he learned a valuable lesson: that he cannot force upon his fellows his atheism. If it took until his graduation day to learn it, so be it. Let us pray that he comes to repentance and conversion.
A video of the prayer is embedded in that article. If you can't see embedded video, go here.

Lautenberg's Apology? I'm Holding Out For Impeachment!
Planned Parenthood's little pink bus tour stopped in New Jersey on March 22nd. At the stop, New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg told the audience at that rally that pro-life people "don't deserve the freedoms in the Constitution". Such ignorance and arrogance is only too typical of people who advocate and support the murder of babies. Think of it. If they have no problem slaughtering children who they deem inconvenient, then how can they have qualms about depriving other people of other rights, when they deem the exercise of such rights to be inconvenient or otherwise troubling to them? In the video below (provided by NJ Right to Life) you can hear the blatant evil arrogance for yourself. Click here if you can't see embedded video.
There are many demands for Lautenberg to apologize. While that is desirable, I think there's another aspect to consider. First, realize that the First Amendment exists precisely to protect speech that a sizable percentage of people deem unpopular. If speech is deemed popular by a majority of people, it doesn't require protection, right? The Founding Fathers knew what they were doing in inserting the Bill of Rights into the Constitution.
Senator Lautenberg, in assuming his office, took an oath in which he swore to uphold the Constitution. Whatever else his ill-advised quip may be, I believe he violated his oath of office. Remember - he used his senatorial status as a "bully pulpit" to expound his sentiments. While I'm not a Constitutional lawyer, I think this at least comes close to being impeachable.

Who Appointed ACLU As De Facto Pope?
Yesterday the ACLU outdid themselves in proliferation of nonsense by pompously declaring that with regard to contraceptive coverage in the Obama Hell Bill, Catholic leaders “cannot interfere” into the matter “by turning their religious beliefs into federal law.”
"Turning their religious beliefs into federal law"!!?! What? The bishops have no inate power to "turn their relgious beliefs into federal law". What they do have, however, is the right to bring their religious beliefs into the public square, as does any other interest group - and yes, ACLU, interest groups are allowed to exists and they do have First Amendment rights!
But wait! There's more! “Religious leaders are free to express their belief that birth control is immoral, but they cannot interfere in our personal decision making by turning their religious beliefs into federal law and taking away access to critical health care,” the statement concluded. Dear ACLU, please be sitting down when I tell you this minor fact. Anyone who lobbies, be they individuals or groups, brings their religious (or anti-religious, as case may be) beliefs with them as they seek to influence law. It is not only our right but our responsibility to do so. Please get used to it.
Dear ACLU, to soften the blow of getting used to it, I present to you now the sterling example of FORMER Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. At the Catholic Community Conference this past summer in Washington DC, Pelosi stated she believes she must pursue public policies "in keeping with the values" of Jesus Christ, "The Word made Flesh." We're certain that she "turned her religious beliefs into federal law", such as her "religious beliefs" might be. Read it for yourselves! Better yet, see it for yourselves!
Now did you take the FORMER Speaker aside to chide her about (oh what is that phrase you used...oh yes!) turning her religious beliefs into federal law? I didn't think so! As we all know, the ACLU ardently pursues a progressive slant towards public policy. As long as the "religious belief" in question falls within your progressive criterion, why, you're just happy to let it go! But if that belief espouses traditional, conservative beliefs, why...why, you simply won't brook it!
Guys, nice try but no cigar! We're onto you! Get used to it!
