Fighting Satanic Culture At Two Local Catholic Universities - Examples To Emulate

Both instances, one at Georgetown University and the other at Mount St. Mary's University, happened within the past week.

Much have I written about Georgetown over the years.  They are Jesuit-run, and they regularly churn out filth and dissidence.  See how I'm repeating myself in that last sentence?  But I digress.  If you scroll through this litany of scandals, you'll see that I went down there to protest the honoring of various pro-abortion individuals.  At all those times, also protesting were young men from the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property.

On April 4, this past Monday, several of the TFP men went down to Healy Gates (where I stood with them on occasion) to speak truth to the students about the LGBT varieties of mortal sin.  They were there with their bagpipes, banners, red flags, and of course, their Rosaries.  They met all sorts of vile opposition.  Actually, some of those kids were so unhinged they were more silly than vulgar.  But alas, their loud music and taunts couldn't drown out bagpipes and the Rosary.  We pray that some of them will take to heart some of the words that the TFP men spoke to them.  Video is included in this link.

Meanwhile, at the northwestern end of Interstate 270, the Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice and Human Services of Mount St. Mary's University was getting ready to host Dr. Simone Kolysh as a speaker.  Kolysh is a professor of sociology at nearby Hood College.  She advocates abortion and LGTB lifestyles (of the BSDM varieties).  She calls herself a "non-binary polyamorous dyke" and prefers "they/them" pronouns.  Well, I'm not playing that game!  She's a female and that is how I will call her.  If she reads this, she'll just have to deal with it.  She calls herself a "witch bitch" and I must confess to being tempted to concede her point here.  But I digress!  Obviously she is not fit to teach anyone to tie their shoelaces, much less spread perversion at a Catholic institution.

Thankfully, several students and faculty at the Mount saw the same paradox and resolved to prevent that - and they did so.  They demanded that her lecture be canceled.  LifeSiteNews contacted the offices of Archbishop Lori, since Lori is on the Mount's Board of Trustees and the Mount is located in the Archdiocese of Baltimore.  While Lori's office never responded to LifeSiteNews, the lecture was soon canceled.

In both cases, Catholics took a stand to combat the anti-God secular culture at Catholic venues.  We can do no less.  We are tasked with establishing Christ's reign in social spheres.  We cannot do it unless we purge the filth from our own institutions.  Emulate the examples set forth by these Catholics.

Bladensburg, MD - A Literal Confrontation Between God And Satan

While the scenario shown in the video below is rather stark, we must be prepared to see more and more of these encounters occur.  Moreover, like the young men of the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property, we too - of all ages and genders - must prepare to confront evil head on.  We will have no choice for evil will present itself to our faces, whether or not we care to acknowledge it.

This incident happened in Bladensburg, MD, in the county next to mine on July 10, last Saturday.  The written account is here.  Please note that there are many other good Catholics there in addition to the TFP men.  Sooner or later, all good Catholics must confront evil publicly - the sooner, the better.

My Challenge To Catholic Men's Societies

Last Saturday I posted about the sacrilegious attack on Holy Mass in Columbus Ohio, and the pathetic reaction to the thugs by the Mass attendees.  It appears that the men in that contingent simply allowed the thugs to run riot through the Church.  They were stopped only by the police; who knows how long it took them to arrive?

It dawned on me today that there are several Catholic men's organizations operating today.  Do any of them deal with these kinds of matters?  Are they contemplating any strategies?  I speak not only of the Knights of Columbus, but also newer ones such as That Man Is You and Exodus 90.

I looked at their websites just now and saw no signs of them even paying attention to such attacks - attacks that will only increase, given the current political climate that is our new reality.  They seem to be focused on personal holiness and family life, but that's it.  Ostensibly they are about promoting authentic Catholic manhood, but being an authentic Catholic also entails paying attention and addressing the spiritual and moral ills that plague society at large.  Last Saturday we had a case of those spiritually malevolent forces literally barging into our Churches.  How long will it be until they cause upheaval in your parish Mass, or even barge into your homes?  That will happen if they perceive passivity on our parts  - the men in particular.

In Spring of 2019, pro-abortion Mark Shriver gave the commencement address at Mount St Mary's in Emmitsburg MD.  I tried desperately to get a group of Catholics who would give a few hours of their Saturday morning to picket that mess.  I approached some men in my parish, but they excused themselves by saying that their TMIY chapter was going to watch one of their movies and discuss it afterwards.  I said nothing, but the irony struck me.  Here they were, choosing to talk about Catholic manhood while passing up an opportunity to actually do Catholic manhood.  I am not belittling the need for Catholic men to gather for fellowship, but I do question the reluctance to join a once-in-a-while opportunity to put their skin in the game, as it were.

As you saw in the linked post, I was not alone.  A group of young men from the American Society for the Defense of Tradition Family and Property were there.  These men are often out in the streets, confronting evil as they see it; I've been privileged to join them at Georgetown University, too.

In all of this discussion about Catholic manhood, has there ever been discussion or even a thought about the responsibility to defend against unjust aggression?  That is a responsibility particularly incumbent upon fathers and men.  Are these groups going to broach matters such as:

  • De-escalation skills
  • Crowd-control techniques
  • Restraining aggressive individual
  • Martial arts
  • Weapons usage
My hope and prayer is that this episode in Ohio can serve as a "wake-up" call so that Catholic men will actually take up their mantle, even if it involves rancor and even danger.  Some persecutions can be staved simply by standing up to aggressors in a firm manner.
