According To Francis, We Faithful Catholics Are "Backwards-Looking" And "Reactionary"

Whining to some fellow Jesuits while in Portugal for the World Youth Debacle, Pope Francis crabbed about Catholics faithful to Tradition, calling us "backwards-looking" and "reactionary".  He tries so hard to convince us that there is an "appropriate evolution in the understanding of matters of faith and morals".

He cited some examples, disregarding the fact that he is holding to heresy.  He went on: "today it is a sin to possess atomic bombs.  The death penalty is a sin; you cannot employ it, but it was not so before."  If he wants to yammer about "appropriate evolution", here is a case where this so-called "evolution" is so inappropriate as to be called heresy, or at least based on heresy.  The underlying heresy is in believing that God can somehow change.  He is beyond change.  He is immutable, and thus His words and thoughts are, too.  Pope St. Pius X had much to say about Francis' mindsets in Pascendi Dominici Gregis.  I suggest you read it.

Later he said, "what I don't like at all is that we look at the so-called 'sins of the flesh' with a magnifying glass..if you lied or cheated, it doesn't matter and instead, only sins below the waist are relevant".   "So-called sins of the flesh"?  Yes, Francis!  That is the term used by Our Lady of Fatima when she told the three children that more souls go to hell on account of sins of the flesh than any other sins.  I can see, though, where that might not be relevant if one doesn't believe in hell.

He said this regarding persons currently committing mortal sins of homosexual relations: "the door is open to everyone.  Everyone has their own space in the church."  After this is when he let loose with his "so-called sins of the flesh" quips.

I believe there is some "method to the madness" here.  He has two things on the horizon.  First there is this so-called "Synod on Synodality" that some have dubbed "sin-nod on sodomy".  Yes, there will most likely be some heresy regarding homosexuality that comes out of this thing.  In fact, given previous patterns regarding past meetings, the "documents resulting from the synod" are most likely written and ready to be released at an opportune time.  Of course any little poison pill will be buried amidst piles and piles of fluffy-puff verbosity.

Speaking of verbal diarrhea, be prepared for another encyclical that Michael Matt has dubbed "Laudato Si II".  Oh, joy!  Hear for yourselves.  

We need to resist the onslaughts against truth coming at us from the Vatican, just as we must resist the civil wonks who are rattling the covid sabers again.

Why Satan And His Sycophants Hate The Mass Of The Ages

 Lex orandi, lex credendi, lex vivandi.  The meme encapsulates why the modernists hate the Latin Mass.  It hinders them as they attempt to mutate the truths of Catholic faith and morality, truths taught by Jesus Christ Himself through His church.  That is why the Latin Mass is evicted from the Church while we see Bozo the Clown Masses being conducted with impunity in our Churches.  That is why the current occupant of the Vatican casts slurs upon us as he calls us "neo pelagians", "rigid" and all manners of derogatory terms.

We will stand fast with this Mass, even if eventually we must go underground.  The Mass will not be suppressed, despite all the hell-spawned attempts to do so.

Pope Francis Calls EWTN "The Work Of The Devil"

How many remember various sit-coms that featured a manipulative mother/mother-in-law who was always complaining about how close she came to death's door and how no one appreciated her?  That's what this recent exchange between the pope and some of his fellow Jesuits calls to mind.  In Slovakia last week, a Jesuit priest asked him how he was.  The pope replied, "still alive, even though some people wanted me to die".  The poor priest got quite the earful.  "Drama queen" are the words that come to mind.  Did Pope John Paul II carry on like that after he was shot?  I don't recall him doing so.

The pity-party continued.

• He railed against EWTN (albeit not by name) for "speaking ill of the pope".  He called them the "work of the devil".  Funny!  I seem to recall him asking "who am I to judge"?  Hmm...
• He said of young priests seeking permission to celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass, "it is a phenomenon, that indicates we are going backwards"..."This is the evil of this moment - namely, to seek the path in rigidity and clericalism, which are two perversions".
• He complained that "it frightens us to accompany people with sexual diversity", urging the Jesuits to "go forward in pastoral experiences."

So from the last two bullet points, can we gather that he thinks those of us who attend the Traditional Latin Mass are perverts, while sodomites are simply "diverse"?  If he thinks that the latter need "accompanying", these "pastoral experiences" better include the Sacrament of Confession for the sake of all involved.

Below I'll post a video of a Traditional Latin Mass that took place two days ago.  Fr. Chad Ripperger gave the homily and spoke about Traditionis Custodes.  He linked this to modernism, and mentioned that a key feature of modernism is its hatred of the sacred.  I regret to say that he nails it when it comes to how the pope is simply railing against the Mass of the Ages at every opportunity.  Go to the 33-minute mark where Father's sermon starts.  I will say I differ with him when he opines that we should "be silent".  St Catherine of Siena lamented such silence, blaming that in part for the condition of the papacy in her day.  We have to speak and shed the light so that others aren't led astray.  Of course we pray and offer sacrifices, but these alone will not suffice.  Ora et labora.

The Rome Life Forum was founded by LifeSiteNews and is now carried on by Voice of the Family.  Their meeting this year will focus on combating modernism within the Church.  Yes, modernism is found at all levels of the Church and has even emanated from Pope Francis himself.

If one is still inclined to pretend that modernism is no problem, please reflect upon the murder of Alfie Evans, sanctioned by most of the UK Catholic bishops.  Think of Katy Perry being invited by the Vatican to sing the praises of transcendental meditation.  I spoke a bit yesterday of "cooperation with mortal sin" being itself a mortal sin.  The Vatican provided a forum for the commission of mortal sin against the First Commandment.  Throw into the mix the sins of blasphemy and sacrilege and we can see that those who invited Perry and/or allowed her to pollute a Church event are guilty themselves of grave sins. That's modernism for you.

The prime mission of the Church, as defined by Jesus Christ Himself, is the salvation of souls.  That CURA conference had nothing to do with that, and even appears to have caused scandal to souls.  Likewise the prattlings of the the US bishops.  Jihad Watch tells us that they submitted a brief to the US Supreme Court claiming that President Trump's travel ban is "blatant religious discrimination".  We do well to remember that the US bishops have a vested financial interest in securing the largest immigrant population possible.

The Vortex that I'm going to post below details how many dioceses are experiencing the effects of all this modernism and loss of faith.  Many are engaged in silly marketing campaigns.  Perhaps they need to listen to Archbishop Sample's homily from the Pontifical High Mass this past Sunday at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.  They don't need cheap gimmicks.  All they need to do is to present the real Catholic faith.  Of course that entails that they believe the Faith and repent of their dalliances with modernism.  By the way - when I speak of "cheap gimmicks" I also refer to the regrettable tendency of clerics and religious orders to carry on like silly buffoons in a misguided attempt to "reach the youth where they are".  Again, young people, indeed all people, need to see the Faith lived out in all its splendor and dignity.

Filial Correction To Pope Francis Publicized Today

On the first anniversary of the submission of the dubia to Pope Francis, the pope has abolished the John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and the Family and put in place another: the John Paul II Pontifical Theological Institute for Marriage and Family Sciences.  Some things to note:

• The first was established to promulgate Humanae Vitae and related teachings.  The second is tasked with implementation of Amoralis Lamentia.
• The founding president of the first was Cardinal Caffarra, one of the dubia cardinals who is just recently deceased.

We all know of the no-longer secret committee that has been established to "study" Humanae Vitae.  This teaching of the Church is crystal-clear.  We know this "studying" is simply a pretext so that it can be undermined and declared irrelevant.

However, we have now received word that 62 scholars, both clergy and laypeople, have issued a "Filial Correction of Pope Francis for the Propagation of Heresies".  This is not the correction mentioned by Cardinal Burke; that would be a fraternal correction, issued by bishop to bishop.  It is an important step in the process.  Rorate Caeli has the full text of the document.  It was actually sent to the pope last month.  However, because he treated this in the same manner as he treated the dubia, it is now public.  Additional commentary and analysis can be found here, here, and here.

We pray that this matter is resolved by the pope's issuance of corrections to Amoralis Lamentia, or even better, by rescinding the whole thing altogether.

From The Maturation Department - Cardinal Baldiserri Embraces Heresy Of Modernism

I came across a video of a talk given by Father Paul Scalia of the Diocese of Arlington.  This is an expose of the heresy known as modernism.  In it Father details why it is a heresy and what various popes, particularly Pope St Pius X, had to say about it.  One of the links I'll give below gives the entire text of the Oath Against Modernism that the sainted pontiff ordered all clergy and seminary teachers to take.  The context of the video itself makes plain that this talk occurred several years ago when Pope Benedict XVI was still the reigning pontiff so he could not have had any premonition of the events of the past year, particularly of the disastrous sin-nod of last October.  One salient point came at the 25:57 mark, when Father said "once you have 'evolution of dogma' there's really no dogma whatsoever".  Hold that truth in mind as we proceed through this post.

Two weeks ago, Cardinal Lorenzo Baldiserri opened a three-day conference of lay and family movements.  Aleteia has more coverage of that.  The conference was called to reflect upon the preparatory document for next October's synod; encompassed in that was the final report from last October's sin-nod: the one that contained, by order of Pope Francis, the three morally questionable statements that had been voted down by the synod fathers.

The Cardinal took some questions.  One of them was from an organization that expressed shock that Cardinal Kasper could suggest that those divorced and remarried Catholics who never had their first marriages declared null by the Church, should be able to receive Holy Communion while living in de facto adultery.  (By the way - here's some more examples of the problems with Cardinal Kasper.)  The Cardinal replied by saying "we shouldn't be shocked that there is a different position from the 'common doctrine'".   Then he went on to say, "there’s no reason to be scandalized that there is a cardinal or a theologian saying something that’s different than the so-called ‘common doctrine.’ This doesn’t imply a going against. It means reflecting. Because dogma has its own evolution; that is a development, not a change." Emphasis mine, and for reasons stated in the first paragraph.

Edward Pentin has a brief commentary, but his includes the text of Pope Pius X's Oath Against Modernism.  He too highlighted the relevant statements.  If Cardinal Baldserri took that oath, he violated it.  By the way - if the name "Edward Pentin" seems familiar, he's the British journalist whose career Cardinal Kasper tried to destroy after Pentin caught Kasper in a lie regarding his "african" quip - but I digress.  A Blog for Dallas Area Catholics has some additional commentary.

Some may wonder why I harp on Cardinal Baldiserri since the sin-nod happened in last October.  What happened last October was a preparation for the Ordinary Synod on the Family that will occur next October.  Baldiserri, by the pope's designation, will have the same leadership role next October as he did last time.  You must understand the minds and the errors that will pervade next year's meeting.  Understand, too, that the pope said we have a "year to mature".  It seems like one phase of this attempted "maturation" is to induce Catholics to swallow the heresy of modernism.  Watch Father Scalia below to learn more of this threat.

American Catholic Church - Too "American", Not Enough "Catholic"

Today's Vortex talks of nothing new.  This wrongly-placed emphasis in too many parishes and chanceries is a problem foreseen (and probably budding) during the pontificates of Leo XIII and Pius X.  Both popes wrote extensively about Americanism and Modernism (and progressivism).  A blogger names Brother Andre Marie delves into a bit about the relationships and contrasts of these problems.  On the sidebar I link to the Vatican site that contains the writings of the modern popes; the writings cited by Brother Andre can be found therein.

Contributing Factors to the Church's Problems

In order to address the problems currently facing the Church, it behooves us all to try to examine just how these problems came to be.  Quite a few people point to the Vatican II Council in the mid 1960s as the start of the Church's problems.  Many sedevacantists seem to be of that opinion.  Some deeper thought into the matter makes plain the illogic behind that somewhat simplistic theory.  While the misapplications of the proceeds of the Council may have made the problems apparent, by no means did the problems originate from the council.

Common sense only makes that clear.  The same crowd that blames Vatican II claims that a number of mefarious bishops undermined the Church via that council.  Well think about it for a minute.  I tend to concur that some bishops were clearly off the wall.  But when did those individuals become bishops?  Clearly they weren't ordained the day before the Council started.  Many of them were occupying high positions in the church long before the start of the Council.

Quite a few of the pre-conciliar but modern popes saw problems on the horizon.  Pope Leo XIII, to address the problems, wrote prayers for the protection of the Church and directed that they be said after every Low Mass; the very familiar Prayer to St Michael is one of those prayers.  Pope St Pius X wrote Pascendi Dominici Gregis and Lamentabili Sane to address specifically the growing threat posed by modernists.

Clearly modernism was a threat and it had made footholds within the Church.  How?  I came across a book put out by TAN Publishing.  It's called Christ Denied and was written by Rev Paul A Wickens.  The author delves into what he believes were the origins of the problems with clerical formation in Europe during the early 1900s.  He focused on three priests who embraced modernism and who were influential teachers.  The first was George Tyrrell, a British Jesuit.  He had profound influence over the second, Teilhard de Chardin.  I've attempted  to read one of the works of the latter - talk about a convoluted mess.  But that's how he got away with spreading error.  He influenced many, including American seminarians sent to Europe to "study" - and lose their faith.  A German pupil of Chardin's was Karl Rahner.  I do recommend that you read it.  Go to the website of TAN Books and search the title and author.  I don't believe Father Wickens supplied the entire picture, but I suspect he supplied a crucial part.

Wise Words of Warning From Pope Saint Pius X

This clip from Real Catholic TV focuses on the dangers of modernism, as foretold by Pope Saint Pius X.  Saint Pius wrote an encyclical called Pascendi Dominici Gregis.  I link to it because I highy recommend its reading.  As you read it, you might well think that this was something written two years ago, as so many dangers and perils, abuses and neglects, will seem so well-portrayed in this letter.  It was written over one hundred years ago.  Note that Pius was writing primarily on modernism as it was eating away at the Church from the inside, not so much the outside.

The secularists and humanists are certainly a patient lot.  However, in many ways, we have been complacent and lacking in vigilance.  In Voris's words, "the history of mankind is shaped by one thing, and one thing only: whether man is moving towards God or away from God."  Notice that there's no middle ground.  We have been duped into thinking that there is a "plateau".  Rather, we've allowed ourselves to be duped.  In reality, the "plateau" is a very subtle descent.
