Rush Limbaugh - Requiescat In Pace

Rush Limbaugh, long-time leading conservative talk-show host, passed away this morning after a year-long battle with stage-four lung cancer.  I first started listening to him on WMAL about 25 years ago.  He was a lone conservative voice in the midst of a liberal-dominated media mode.

His radio show, plus some of the smaller Catholic newspapers (such as Wanderer and Catholic Family News) existed some time before the internet became available.  They paved the way for those of us providing alternatives to the mainstream media and its leftwing slant.  Rush spoke truth to their falsehoods, often using cutting humor to make his points.  He grew in popularity with those of us who often thought ourselves alone in the liberal jungle.  For that, he was hated and vilified by the left-wing moguls who saw their holds on the populace being thus challenged and weakened.

When Bill Clinton took the White House in 1992 Limbaugh opened his show with the statement, "America held hostage for x amount off days" during Clinton's term.  In 1994, conservatives seized both the House and Senate, along with many state governor seats.  No doubt they were rallied in no small part by Limbaugh and some others who were coming on the scenes.

I don't believe Limbaugh was a saint; he had his flaws, as we all do.  While he voiced belief in God, I'm not sure he adhered to any particular denomination (please correct me if I'm mistaken).  That said, he was an example of someone with honesty and clear thinking being able to comprehend and appreciate natural law - hence his conservative and patriotic principles.  I don't think I'm alone among Catholics who will say that Limbaugh was more helpful to my thinking than many quisling prelates were.  Both Old and New Testaments are replete with accounts of God's people being assisted by non-believers of good will.

Let us pray that Limbaugh had the grace of final repentance and conversion before he died, as well as peace for his family.  Let us also pray for some progressives who are literally cackling in glee over his death, forgetting that death will one day come for them as it will for us all.

Today is Ash Wednesday.  We can now take this opportunity to ponder our own preparation for our end.  "Memento, homo, quia pulvis es, et in pulverim reverteris."

Cardinal Wuerl Attempts Damage-Control For Laudato Si

As many know, yesterday Fox News interviewed Cardinal Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington.  Chris Wallace conducted the interview and I post it below.  I have some comments and they won't necessarily occur in order, as they appear on the clip.

First the two discussed comments made by Jeb Bush regarding "getting policy from the bishops".  The cardinal seemed to intimate that Laudato Si was not putting forth policy but merely the moral framework.  As I read Laudato Si, I most certainly do see policy being put forth.  We see that quite explicityly in paragraph 173, where the pope is suggesting the use of "global regulatory norms".  Paragraph 175 goes on to say that there should be "organized international institutions..empowered to impose sanctions."  The pope is flat out calling for a surrender of national sovereignity in favor of one-world government.  I call that "setting forth policy" as opposed to mere "moral frameworks".

They then turn their attention to criticisms leveled by Rush Limbaugh.  They played one snippit of his broadcast from June 16th.  To put that piece in context, I present to you the link to the entire transcript as it appears on Rush's website.  After listening to the clip, they chuckle and Wuerl says that in this country one can speak their mind even if "they don't have all the facts".  Well, not too many authentic facts will support the global warming hoax.  Quite a few scientists are sounding the alarm regarding that hoax.  For their troubles, they have found themselves shut out of any Vatican discussions regarding the encyclical.  From the Washington Post, we read "How Climate Change Doubters Lost A Papal Fight." As you read it, take note of the treatment meted out to Philippe de Larminet.  He wasn't the only one so marginalized.  So much for "all discussing this" and "coming to the table", when scientists who see through the global warming conundrum are excluded simply because they don't tow the progressive party line.  Indeed, they (and all people of common sense) are vilified as having "obstructionist attitudes" (see paragraph 14 of the encyclical).

Today Limbaugh voiced his reply to the interview and I now link to it.  The "lunatic" to whom Limbaugh refers is, I believe, Hans Joachim Schnellnhuber.  Given what I said about the latter's theory about the "earth's maximum carrying capacity", the "lunatic" label is charitable.  Everything else that Limbaugh states, both about the interview and the encyclical, is spot on.  Now the clip:

Cardinal Burke's Interview Two Months Ago - Truth With Clarity

Two months ago, Cardinal Burke gave an interview for a Polish magazine - naturally published in Polish.  LifeSiteNews has obtained an English translation of it.  In this interview, Cardinal Burke has outlined with clarity Christian truths as they impact our culture at large.

I urge careful attention to be paid to questions 7 and 10 - and most especially # 10.  Consider that in light of the HHS contraception mandate cases being heard by the US Supreme Court; oral arguments commenced today.

Today came the news that something called the "National Coalition of American Nuns" has sided with the Obamanistas and support the contraception mandate, throwing their fellow Catholics under the bus.  Of course, what also went under the bus are their religious vows.  Perhaps they should study question 7 in the Burke interview.

Happy Earth Day! We Made It To Another One!

Did you know it was Earth Day?  If not, your life is none the poorer I assure you.  It's a rather recent mock celebration, having originated in 1970.  Today Rush Limbaugh gave us some background on it, including some dire prophesies of doom that were uttered during the very first Earth Day.  Somehow not too many of these charming predictions have come to pass.  To wit:

• "In a decade (that is, 1980), urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive the pollution."  I haven't seen too many of those!
• "The amount of sunlight will be cut in half by 1985."  Now wait a cotton-pickin' minute!  That would bring about massive chilling, right?  What's the deal with "global warming"?
• There are many more examples of sheer nonsense that Limbaugh cites.

Limbaugh makes mention of the founder's rather chequered past.  Now does that ring a bell regarding another politically-correct hoopla day?  Yes!  Kwanzaa!  Read its official site!  Then read this wikipedia piece - the whole thing.  What a guy!

Update!  It just came to my attention that today is also Vladimir Lenin's birthday!  My!  Such coincidences!  Or perhaps the progressives are simply being "economical" by combining their "high holy days" together!

Father Guarnizo Responds To Bill O'Reilly Bible-Thumping Comments

On the topic of gay marriage Bill O'Reilly seems to be taking great umbrage at conservatives who seek to uphold marriage AND to respect those who recognize the Bible as God's Word.  Go to this Business Insider article.  Embedded therein is a clip of him literally having a temper-snit at Laura Ingraham.  I can only conclude that he knows he is incorrect and is lashing out over a stung conscience.  In this BI clip, you'll see the video of Rush Limbaugh to which O'Reilly and Ingraham allude in the first clip.

In CNS News, Father Marcel Guarnizo has published his own rebuttal of O'Reilly.  He focuses not so much on the "Bible-thump" quip as much as he dwells on more fundamental issues.  Father examines what seems to be libertarian underpinnings of O'Reilly's erroneous attitudes towards "gay marriage" and the inevitable harm that will be wrecked on all concerned: including gay people themselves.  It will not be a "quick read" but one well worth your time.

While I'm sure this hasn't occurred to Father, he makes a cogent (if unconscious) argument why the libertarian philosophy cannot be considered true conservatism.  It cannot even be considered moral.

Limbaugh Criticizes Catholics For Alliances With Democratic Party

During his broadcast today, Rush Limbaugh commented on a dialog between Sally Quinn and Carl Bernstein regarding the Papal Conclave.  Both Quinn and Bernstein opined that the Catholic Church will be "irrelevant" if they don't "include" various groups whom they feel are "minorities".  Limbaugh picked them apart, of course.  You'll hear that below.

Towards the end, you will hear Limbaugh utter his own criticism of the Church: that it "is on its way to irrelevancy if it doesn't start distancing itself from the Democratic Party and the ideal that liberalism equals charity".  And keep on listening as he excoriates all major religions for equating governmental largess with charity.

Limbaugh is not Catholic so he may not realize that the bureaucracies that bear the name "Catholic" are not one and the same with the Mystical Body of Christ.  If we think of the former as opposed to the latter while listening to Limbaugh, we can appreciate what he said.

How often on this blog have I called for the abolition of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (and the state conferences)?  Why?  Precisely because they do engage in the chicanery that Limbaugh just denounced.  They will wax hysterical over one murderer being executed yet remain relatively silent over the thousands of babies murdered each day via abortion.  Just a few days ago I posted that the Catholic Campaign for Human Development is throwing millions of dollars to help illegal immigrants skirt our laws; could not that money (Catholic donation dollars, by the way) have been put to better use with the purchase of baby-saving sonogram machines for the pregnancy centers or to have bought food for an over-stretched soup kitchen?

He probably doesn't realize it, but Limbaugh is articulating the principle of subsidiarty.  It's time we stopped looking to the government for "charity" and started getting on with the true mission of the Church, to save souls and to put social outreach in proper perspective.

USCCB's Progressive Problem - Limbaugh Understands, Why Not The Bishops?

During a telephone conversation with a caller last week, Rush Limbaugh spoke truth to how the Catholic hierarchy swallowed the socialist koolaid.  He echoes a point that this blog, and many others, have been making over the years.  I link to the transcript here and encourage its full reading.  Here is a key statement of his:"One of the things that I learned was the reason the Catholic Church (all the way back to the days of FDR) got roped into the liberal socialist agenda is that they became convinced that welfare was charity, and churches are big on charity.  And they thought that it would sound good for them to support massive government wealth-transfer programs, welfare programs, under the guise that it was charity.  So the Catholic Church and its hierarchy in this country slowly but surely migrated to socialism, in terms of its political preferences." 

I believe that is true for the majority of Catholics.  But there were some nefarious elements who noticed this shift and took full advantage of it - folks like Father Hesbergh, Msgr Jack Egan, etc who saw in this shift the perfect opportunity to use the Church as a tool to advance socialism.  I give credit where credit is due - they executed their strategies well.  I'm not sure who's to blame more: these not-so-covert socialists or those naive Catholics (who, by the way, forgot all about the principle of subsidiarity) who basically slept while the former had their way.

Limbaugh seems to think that the hierarchy is waking up.  I wish I could share his optimism.  Some are, but too many show signs of remaining obdurately in the progressive camp.  One sad sign emanates from the Archdiocese of Washington.  I refer of course, to their disgraceful treatment of Father Marcel Guarnizo, formerly of St John Neumann Church in Gaithersburg, MD.  Here is a priest who understood his call to proclaim the truth "in season and out of season".  The chancery, in its apology to the lesbian who received Communion sacrilegiously, not only punished a good priest but completely abdicated their own duty to "admonish the sinner" for the sake of her own soul.

Let's look at the Stand for Religious Freedom Rallies, that occurred in at least 140 cities today.  If you were relying solely on the website of the USCCB for your information, you would have learned nothing of them.  In fact, take a look at their calendar.  Do you see any mention of the nation-wide rallies on March 23?  Nope!  But what do you see on the USCCB calendar for this weekend?  Why, it's the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress!  According to this Lifesite News report, this year's dissent-fest features a bevvy of speakers who advocate for Obama, gay priests and all manners of sexual vice.  That's par for the course for this LA conference; such has been the diet they've been serving for years.  So why, oh why, does the USCCB shill for this and remain silent on the Stand for Religious Freedom rallies?  Because the progressives who run the USCCB insist on ramrodding it down the path to socialism.

If the bishops are truly starting to get serious about being bishops, they need to dismantle the USCCB.  Then they need to rediscover the principle of subsidiarity and start obeying Canon 915.

Will The GOP Ever Learn That Morality Takes Precedence Over Economy?

Yes, I must rebuke the GOP now - and by the way, that includes Rush Limbaugh!  Today on his 3-hour program, he had this to say.  I quote from his transcript and will highlight the erroneous part. 

"There is a news report from the Washington Post today, and I want to warn you, this report is intended to sabotage the Republican presidential campaign. John Boehner said yesterday that there is a triple threat that exists to this country, three items that the Republicans need to stay focused on and nothing else. The triple threat is higher taxes, more stimulus spending, and federal regulations. All three undermine the creation of jobs. If you remember Ronaldus Magnus had a three-legged school. Three issues. You remember what they were, Snerdley? Defeat communism, rebuild the military, lower taxes. Those were the three things. And he never lost focus of them. Three things constantly discussed, makes it simple, doesn't complicate things.  The left would love for the Tea Party to get distracted, start talking about immigration, abortion, gay marriage, all this other stuff, because right now the chief vulnerability faced by Obama and the Democrats is the economy."

So you see that Limbaugh is agreeing with Boehner's attempt to repeat a tired, old practice of shunting the core moral principles of this country off to the sidelines.  When I say "core moral principles", that also includes the 4000 babies that are being murdered every day via abortion in the USA alone.  It almost seems like Limbaugh is forgetting that silly talk such as what he uttered this afternoon is precisely why the Tea Party is frosted at the RINO establishment.  In fact, the Tea Party arose because good, decent people are tired of the RINO establishment being willing to compromise core principles for economic advantage.  Let's try to consider that "taxes, spending and regulations" are not threats to the unborn children, as the children are murdered long before they are able to confront them!

Let me make this very clear to the RINO and "GOP establishment" moles who are reading this.  The GOP nominee to the presidency MUST have a clear-cut plan to end the scourge of abortion, to re-establish the primacy of marriage between one man and one woman, to restore respect for the role of the family in society.  Moreover, these matters MUST be made priority over and beyond economic issues.  Boehner, Limbaugh et al forget that we were founded as a nation under God.  Since Limbaugh is so fond of quoting Ronald Reagan, here's a quote to ponder: "If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."  And this is what Limbaugh dismisses as "all this other stuff"?

Please notice the use of the word "must" in bold font.  There is a reason for that.  I wish to emphasize to my RINO readers that unless the GOP nominee does indeed deem these matters to be "top priority", he/she will not be able to count on the support of social conservatives (particularly pro-life people) and many of the Tea Party.  Should there be a third candidate who will espouse those "MUST" matters, he/she will receive a large percentage of our support.  No more can you take the support of social conservatives for granted, only to have our concerns - and by extension the unborn children - shoved on the back burner.  We know that our God will not be mocked in that manner anymore.  Haven't we learned that yet?  To coin a phrase from the Clinton campaign of the recent past..

Remember James Lee? Whose "Rhetoric" Is Causing Violent Outbursts?

Ample evidience abounds that Jared Loughner was not motivated in the least by conservative thought.  He had drug problems and several run-ins with law officials.  His Youtube channel states that his favorite books include Hitler's Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto.  That same channel show a video of him burning the US flag.

Now let's recall another insane man who undoubtedly was listening to left-wing rhetoric.  I call to your memories one James Lee.  Last September, he held a number of people hostage in the Discovery Channel Building in Silver Spring MD.  He had bombs and threatened to use them.  While only he was killed in the stand-off, he did manage to shut down Silver Spring for a good part of the day.  I posted about that when it happened.  Here it is.  Read the links to see how he was heavily influenced by radical environmentalisn.  Many other proponents of radical environmentalism are unabashedly contemptuous of human life.  Want proof?  Go here and here, making sure you follow the links in those articles.

Now here's another link revealing that Lee was pro-abortion.  When you read that piece, follow the link to Jill Stanek's blog, where you can see and hear Lee arguing with pro-life demonstrators and espousing his strange world views.

So according to evidence that Lee himself willingly supplied, he was a pro-abortion radical environmentalist.  Now perhaps my memory is failing me, but I sure don't recall hearing any liberal pundits calling for pro-abortion and/or environmentalists to tone down their "inflamatory" talk after Lee was killed.  After all, Lee himself made no secret of his proclivities, did he?

Now of course I don't think environmentalists and pro-abortion folks are to blame for the Discovery Channel stand-off.  The one guilty party has met his eternal fate.   However, liberal/progressive pundits are doing their utmost to stretch all kinds of logic to ascribe some sort of blame for Gifford's shooting to Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, talk radio, Tea Party, any of the voices of conservatism.  Read this Newsbusters account of one debate.  Newsbusters does a good job of exposing the double-standard.

Dear liberal pundits: nice try, but no cigar.  We're here and we will exercise our First Amendment rights.  You may not think it's "civil", since "civility" to you seems to mean that all must fall lock-step with your progressive programs, or else!  (Recall the video in one of this post's earlier links)

Then yesterday, Jay Rockefeller, Senator (D-WV) took time out from a Senate committee meeting to lob shots at both Fox News and MSNBC.  He opens this clip be talking about "the system we have for developing television content."  Pray tell, who is this "we"?  Since when does the Federal government have diddly-squat to do with "developing television content"?  Why, oh why, do these progressive busybodies concern themselves with what we watch and how?  Read the First Amendment - it's simply none of their damned business.  Look at this clip (click here if you can't see embedded video).



Make no mistake.  This is all about establishing a progressive monopoly on information and the publishing of opinion.  Blogs such as this one will soon be in their crosshairs.  Then your freedom to say what you want and read what you want will exist no more.  The elections a few weeks ago are only a first step in pushing back this monster.  We must be relentless in our vigilance and efforts.

Now that you've wiped the coffee or soda off your computer screen that you spit on it upon reading this post title, allow me to elaborate.  You see, the Messiah Most Miserable has enlightened the ignorance of us, the Great Unwashed, at a fundraiser given in his honor this past week - the same week that contains "Tax Day", April 15th.  Even Rush Limbaugh has seen the error of his wicked ways, and now offers thanks to the Messiah and his Wisdom Most Miniscule.  Observe.



Rush's last line is key - we must be at the polls in November, en masse, in droves, to really thank the Messiah and his lackeys!

Obama: Conservative Talk Radio Spreading "Vitriol"

For someone who thinks that they're the President of the United States, Barack HUSSEIN Obama sure seems to have thin skin.  Yesterday, when he interviewed with CBS News' Harry Smith, Obama suggested that Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are stirring up "hatred".

No, my dear BO, that's not it at all.  They are merely vocalizing what many, many Americans are feeling as they see the United States of America being systematically morphed into a socialistic backwater.  In fact, there are many, many of us who write, blog, etc to wake up the liberals from their mental stupors before it's too late.  We don't hate you, sir, but we hate what you and your Democrat lap-dog lackeys are doing to our country!  We've no bones saying it, either.  What we're spreading is not vitriol, as you so derisively term it, but the plain truth.

While we still have a First Amendment, we will make use of it to shed the light on the cockroaches that threaten to consume this country, and civilization at large.  This brings me to my question: is this "vitriol" talk going to become some lame excuse to stifle the speech of conservatives?  Why do I think that might be the case?  Might it be that the liberals are afraid of us, given the backbone that we displayed during the Hell Bill deliberations?

Let's watch this bunch.  Above all, let us pray God's mercy on the United States of America.

USCCB Joins Liberal Whine-Fest Over Limbaugh

It appears that the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, in its never-ending quest to be politically correct, has signed onto a complaint to the FCC against "hate speech". What "hate speech"? Why, it's the variety that comes from Rush Limbaugh and other conservative talk radio.

The USCCB has jumped onto the bandwagon of a self-styled "national interfaith coaltion for media justice" that calls itself "So We Might See". Notice that they mention Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage by name. The USCCB has its hands full with nuns doing deathscort duty at abortuaries, Catholic colleges teaching heresy and honoring pro-aborts, liturgical abuse everywhere, etc, etc - and they choose to go after talk radio? Might that be because 1) talk radio exposes so much of the USCCB's own malfeasance 2) they want to score brownie points with the liberal money-bag holders and power brokers?

The reasons are probably all of the above, and I'll suggest one more. My fellow bloggers who love Holy Mother Church, they may wish to create the legal precedent to go after us. I wouldn't put anything past this cabal.
