Commencement Catastrophes

In a few months, high school and college seniors will be receiving diplomas during ceremonies where they will listen to speakers.  We would hope that at Catholic institutions that those speakers would be people who exemplify fidelity to Church teaching in their lives and words.  Sadly that has not always been the case during these past few decades.  I and others have often stood in protest at commencements where the speakers scandalized students and others, simply by being honored despite (or maybe because of) their publicly sinful conduct.

That trend still continues.  During these past two years, commencements often were canceled due to covid-related concerns, but now they are ramping up, as are the appearances of dissidents.  The Archdiocese of Baltimore, via the Catholic Review, just announced two such speakers about to poison the minds of the graduates.

The first is Sister Helen Prejean, who will address graduates of Notre Dame of Maryland University on May 22 at the Baltimore Convention Center.  She will be delivering her address virtually, but the plug needs to be pulled on that public address system when she speaks.  I have written quite a bit on her over the years.  Her heretical position on the death penalty is NOT her only problem.  I am considering a picket of that event, urging attendees to walk out during her prattling.

Then there's Anisya Thomas Fritz.  She is a bit of an entrepreneur.  There's nothing wrong with that, but she has other questionable associations.  According to her Linkedin page, she is a founder and current chair of something called Georgetown Ambassadors for Women, Peace, Security.  Any group that gives out "Hillary Clinton awards" is questionable, at best.  Then I googled that group and discovered who's on the board.  Ms. Fritz is, of course, but so is someone else named Tricia Hoefling.  Her bio blurb quite plainly states that "she is an outspoken advocate for reproductive rights" and counts as an "accomplishment" the establishment of two abortuaries.  Mind you, this is right on the website of Georgetown University, an ostensibly Catholic institution, but then again, it's Georgetown.  Anyway, we know a lot about people by the company they keep.  If she was a founder of that group, would she not have had some input regarding the composition of the board?  Can Ms. Fritz be that much of an exemplar of Catholicism?

Fritz will be speaking at the commencement of Loyola University on May 14th at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore at 11am.  That's a Sunday morning.  Just when do the Loyola administration think that attendees will be able to attend Sunday Mass that day?  Or don't they care?  What's even more peculiar is that the Review staff didn't pick up on that.  On second thought, maybe not.

The fact that these scandals are happening is bad enough.  That they are lauded in an archdiocesan newspaper is itself bona fide evidence of the corruption that exists within Church hierarchy.  As I said earlier, I am contemplating a picket of the Notre Dame fiasco.  We've done it before, many times.  I link now to a picket that some of us conducted when Sr. Carol Keehan of the Pen of Perfidy spoke at Gonzaga High 12 years ago.  Watch the video to the end.  We need to rebuke the sinner.

Red Rose Rescue In Washington DC Thursday May 14 2020

In the eyes of civil government, churches are deemed "non-essential" and are closed by unconstitutional dictatorial fiat.  Meanwhile, the baby-slaughter business is considered "essential".  The babies would take exception, and God certainly does.  Atrocities such as this are some of the reasons why God has allowed this corona scourge to afflict us.  The pro-life activists that you see in this clip (and others like them) stand in the breach as did Moses and Aaron to intercede, to stand in the gap, with their intercessions and works of mercy.

Not only do I encourage you to pray for an end to abortion, but to get yourself in front of the killing centers and be a witness for life.  The time is long past (if ever it existed) when we can sit on the sidelines and pretend that this isn't our problem.  We will all stand before God as He judges us at our death.  How will we answer Him?

TFP Student Action Speaks Truth To Pro-Abortion Rabble At George Washington University

The embrace of the pro-abortion mentality is an embrace of barbarism of the worst kind.  Such an embrace will permeate through all areas of the mentality of the pro-abortion supporter.  I see this proof quite frequently, and now can show a local example of such depravity.

A few days ago, young men from the TFP Student Action group witnessed to the sanctity of life at George Washington University.  I would say that some of the students disagreed with them but that would be a gross understatement.  Instead, what you are witnessing is a visceral and violent reaction to truth on the part of those students who have partaken of the pro-abortion seduction, and who most likely have participated in baby-slaughter themselves.  Here is the video and further commentary is below that.

One of the broads there, who actually looks old enough to have retained some vestige of civility, demonstrated behavior associated with a rather dangerous animal.  I post pictures of both so that you can see the similarities.

If some find my comparison offensive, well, consider how those young men found the behavior hurled at them.

The young men, in addition to speaking truth to George Washington University, are examples worthy of emulation by us all.  That isn't just their responsibility, but our's as well.

Faithful Catholics, Stop Sitting On Your Hands

The video below was posted by Randall Terry, reporting on his recent confrontations with rabidly pro-abortion CINO Joe Biden.  As most know, Biden is one of quite a few pro-abortion Democrats (a redundancy) running for President.  In his video, Terry states the reasons for his protest and encourages others to do the same.

As I watched this, I couldn't help but recall our action against Mark Shriver at Mount St Mary's last month.  Of all the faithful Catholic laity that I know exist in Maryland, only nine of us showed up - me and eight young men from the American Society of Tradition, Family and Property.  Now I realize that quite a few faithful Catholics were in front of abortuaries as they usually are on Saturday mornings.  I speak not to them for they are in fact speaking against evil in other venues.  They too find their numbers to be small.

I tried to drum up support for the Mount effort but at best the responses were "well, maybe".  Those "well maybes" turned into no-shows.  Ladies and gentlemen, please understand that while prayer is necessary and crucial, it is NOT sufficient.  In fact, I daresay that if one prays for the culture of life but yet refuses to step out of his/her comfort zone to engage in street activism, political action or just speaking publicly, then his/her prayers aren't worth the spit produced in the utterances, for they value their comfort over God's will.  It is they who need repentance as much as abortion supporters.  If you are going to repent, don't just go to confession (although that's advisable) but get out of your comfort zones and do something.  The next 40 Days campaign would be an excellent start.  Now the video.

Calling All MD And PA Catholics To Stand For Truth This Saturday!

Several weeks ago I posted of the abominable decision of Mount St Mary's to ask pro-abortion and pro-sodomite Mark Shriver to give the commencement address at the Mount's graduation ceremony on May 11.  Despite the protests of many faithful Catholics, they are hell-bent (literally!) on kissing up to Shriver.  They seem not to care one whit that they are in flagrant disobedience to "Catholics In Political Life".

So now we are left with no choice but to picket.  We've got to preach truth to the people attending for Shriver, by his presence, will be posing a scandal to every person there.  We must provide the antidote and yes, we must speak a word of rebuke to those who dared to hold up for honor someone whose public stances are gravely immoral.

This picket effort is largely spearheaded by TFP Student Action.  They have done quite a few of these demonstrations; I've demonstrated along side of them twice at Georgetown University over the years.  Their personnel have secured a location for us to picket there, quite close to the entrance of the hall where the commencement will occur.

Please plan to arrive at 8:45 at the Campus Public Safety Office.  It is on the west side of Rte 15.  Turn from Rte 15 west onto Anadale Road then an immediate right onto Old Emittsburg Road.  The office is the white building at that intersection.  From there, campus police will lead us in our cars to a parking area close to the picket site.  Please bring appropriate signs and your Rosaries.

Please spread word of this, and please attend and pray for this effort.

Because many readers may not have been involved with protests of this sort, I present now a video of Randall Terry interviewing other brand-new activists who proclaimed truth at a function in Texas for Pete Buttigieg (another dissident Catholic) spoke.  If they can speak out, we can all stand for truth as well.

Catholic Street Activism

TFP Student Action is a group of young Catholic men who among other things are willing to defend the Faith in the streets and through protests.  They were with us during the two occasions when I joined pickets of pro-abortion speakers at Georgetown University.  They were with pro-life activists during the #protestpp demonstration in Washington DC (see the two linked sites at this post).   For as long as I can remember, their signature red banners and sashes and bag pipes were with us at the annual March for Life in Washington on January 22nd.

I mention them because I think we have to be willing to emulate them.  Let's face it; many in the Church hierarchy (including, sad to say, Pope Francis) are showing themselves to be indifferent if not hostile to Sacred Tradition.  No longer can we sit on our hands and suffer in silence while Our Lord is blasphemed and our children are scandalized.  For too long the malefactors have been comfortable in their mischief, assuming that we'll do and say nothing.  Well, as Dorothy Day might say, we have to afflict the comfortable.

Below I post a video of a protest that TFP Student Action did at Marquette University.  I presume that they did so in protest of the University's treatment of Dr. John McAdams, who tweeted his respect for God's plan for marriage.  Oh by the way - Marquette claims to be a Catholic institution.

As you watch this, you'll notice the horrid behavior of the campus left-wingers.  See how TFP Student Action does not back down.  While they are respectful, they make no effort to be conciliatory.  Indeed, that would be impossible without compromising truth.  We must emulate that.  As occasions arise, I'll be posting opportunities for such activism.

NARAL Blood-Feast Picketed Last Week

On Saturday, Oct 15th, Maryland NARAL held their annual blood-feast/fundraiser at Ten Oaks Ballroom in Clarkesville, MD.  It's located at Route 108 and Signal Bell Lane, just one block north of the interchange between Rtes 108 and 32.  We've done this in previous years: in 2012 in Sandy Spring and 2011 in Rockville.

About 15-20 of us were there to perform two of the Spiritual Works of Mercy: Rebuke the Sinner and Instruct the Ignorant.  We held pictures of some victims of abortion, realizing that these people should have a crystal-clear idea of what they were supporting.

As they did in previous years, most of the people just zoomed by us, pretending they didn't see the truth.  As you can see, though, there's no way they could not have seen the message.  Some however, came out and took photos of us, with one of them getting involved in quite a debate with one of our number who was holding his sign along Route 108.  I suspect they did so only because we were the most interesting part of an otherwise boring and dreary evening.

I would urge good people to make their voices heard in the streets more and more.  We must be willing to put the time and effort into these outreaches if we're going to win this culture back to life.

Our Picket Of Carafem Last Week

As announced in this post, we picketed Montgomery County's newest "abortion spa".  It was designed by pro-aborts to "take the stigma from abortion".  That's purely wishful thinking on their part, for there will always be stigma to heinous evils such as baby-murder.

On Saturday morning, May 23, we were in front of 5530 Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase, displaying pictures of abortion victims and distributing informative post cards as you see to the right.  Earlier in the week, we had been informed that the mill would be open.  Later in the week, closer to the time of our picket, we were informed that they had decided to close for the day.  Indeed we saw no one enter the building.  That in and of itself proved the worth of our effort, for on that day no babies were slaughtered at Carafem.  Who knows how many children we were able save just by us being there?  That doesn't even count the people passing on the sidewalk who may silently have been contemplating abortion.

More details and pictures of the event are below the jump break, so,

Protest Of DC-Area "Abortion Spa" This Saturday

Some may have heard of the new "abortion spa" that recently opened in Chevy Chase, Maryland.  It is called Carafem and is featuring spa-like amenities to women as they cajole them to subjecting their babies to chemical abortion.  The Washington Post had a write-up on them; given the Post's own pro-baby-murder sentiments, one can imagine that the write-up was glowing.

Notice something as you read the article.  The mill is being lauded as "part of a trend to destigmatize the procedure".  I'm sure the authors didn't realize it, but they are making quite an admission.  Consider that there should be no impetus to destigmatize "the procedure" if there did not exist a stigma to it.  Of course there is; abortion is a heinous form of murder and will always have the stigma of evil and death about it, for such is the truth of abortion.  All the fluffy bathrobes and cups of hot tea this mill provides will only be the proverbial "lipstick on the rattlesnake".

This coming weekend, Created Equal (led by Mark Harrington) will drive home the truth in the last paragraph by a picket in front of Carafem this coming Saturday morning.  This link has pertinent details; please visit it.  For most of my readers, distance will limit your participation to financial contributions.  For those in the area, please plan to join them.  Again, visit the link.

Picket Sebelius Appearance At Georgetown!

Let me preface this by pointing out that the Archdiocese of Washington, in an editorial in last week's Catholic Standard, has expressed displeasure with Georgetown's decision to honor "katholyc" Kathleen Sebelius this coming Friday.  While I commend them for taking this step, I urge them to act decisively on this matter.  I believe that the Cardinal can remove from Georgetown the right to call itself "Catholic".  Time and time again, Georgetown has thumbed its nose at the Magisterium; it's time to call a spade a spade.

At 10:00am this Friday May 18th, we will be meeting at the entrance to Leavy Center (on Reservoir Road at 38th St) to advise attendees of the travesty that Sebelius's appearance is.  Come join us to offer some authentic Catholic witness to the graduates and their guests.

Police State Watching 40 Days For Life Activists Already?

Remember when I posted this piece detailing how Federal officials are being "trained" (brainwashed?) to watch pro-lifers as they engage in First Amendment activities?  The training, of course, was offered by "unbiased experts" such as Planned Parenthood, National Abortion Federation, et al.

The 40 Days for Life campaign is occurring now throughout the country.  One is going on in Fairfax VA.  Watch this report (UPDATE: The original link no longer works, as the video was removed and uploaded to youtube.  Click here if you can't see embedded video) as the Fairfax group describes an apparent surveillance operation.  They appear to be the targets, and Department of Homeland Security seems to be engaging in the surveillance.

Can we all say "Big Brother is snooping"?

Virtual March for Life

Americans United for Life has launched an internet-based project that they've dubbed Virtual March for Life.  They've pitched it at those who cannot be in Washington on January 22nd for the actual March for Life.  It is done through the selection of "avators", something about which I need to study.

It has come under some criticism, however.  In a sense, I can understand the criticism.  I myself am a pro-life activist.  I firmly believe in Father Frank Pavone's statements in his flyer, "Our Media Is the Streets."  I link to it because I urge its close study.  For over 15 years, I've been in front of various abortuaries as a sidewalk counselor.  I've been involved in a number of street protests - and I've led some of them.  Last year,  or two ago, when something called the Red Envelope Project became quite the fad amongst some prolifers, I took strong issue with that.  In an exchange that I had with the founder, he flat out said that (paraphrased) "folks will not go into the streets, they will not write letters to the editor, but they will send an envelope.."  In other words, he was providing a cop-out.  If he had encouraged his followers to take the next step and become more active, I might have seen some worth to this project.  By the way - its website appears to be defunct; that's why there's no link.

Let's get back to the Virtual March for Life.  I ask you to look carefully at the main page.  If you look on the right side of that page, it offers the opportunity for a "virtual march" for those who cannot be in Washington.  Note that word cannot.  The unfortunate criticisms that I hear seem to indicate a belief that AUL is offering this venue for those who simply choose not to come to Washington.  As I look at this, it seems that AUL is offering this alternative for those who are honestly unable to come to Washington.  Now perhaps AUL might emphasize that point a bit better on their site and suggest local action, but still, a more-than-precursory glance at the page makes plain the intent of AUL.  Besides, I just cannot see Americans United for Life deliberately submarining Nellie Gray and her March for Life.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are going to have differences of opinions with each other, as good people will indeed disagree on things from time to time.  Let us be careful, though, to make certain that we are at least representing each other accurately.
