In tonight's episode of the Anchor Team, Michael Hichborn details another chapter of his expose of the CCHD. Towards the end of his presentation, he engages in some discussion about what we Catholics in the pews can do about them. In the second article of the anthology to which I linked in the first paragraph is an envelope stuffer that you may wish to use when that second collection basket passes in front of you during Mass.
Please watch the episode in its entirety, then take some action. With the Sin-Nod droning on, it can be easy for such things as the CCHD collection to slip right by us, but we mustn't relax our vigilance.
Thanks for the reminder. I see in my budget envelopes that CCHD is coming up on Nov.19. Every year I try to give a good contribution because on balance, I believe CCHD provides funding for many worthwhile charitable projects in spite of Hichborn's nitpicking!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you consider "worthwhile" that offsets the harmful organizations that Mike has highlighted? By the way, you are aware that the "charitable projects" would only get a tiny fraction (if anything at all) of your donation dollars, right? Your donations would be parceled out according to tje whims of CCHD personnel m. Your favorite organizations would benecit more from direct donations from you.
