Pope Benedict XVI - Requiescat In Pace

The Holy Father - the real one - passed away at 9:34 Italian time this morning.  We pray now for his immortal soul and the Church Militant that he left behind.  I believe it was in 2007 when he released his moto propitio that made clear that the Tridentine Mass was a valid rite and that no prelate could prevent its celebration.  The current occupant of the chair of Peter undid that, as well as unleashing immeasurable harm against Holy Mother Church.

Regrettably Benedict shared some responsibility for that harm, with his extremely irregular "resignation".  When he proffered that, he paved away for the destructive debacle known as Francis' papacy.  Some are now lamenting that Francis is now unrestrained.  I am not certain how he was ever restrained, but only time will tell.

In the meantime, we pray for the eternal repose of Benedict XVI and for the return of a true pope.  At this time, owing to all the signs that Francis' election was rigged and therefore canonically invalid, I am not certain that we have a true pope at this time.  Pray for the One True Church, now rudderless.

Biden Did You Know

This comes courtesy of the Babylon Bee.  Frankly, I think Biden knows enough to be culpable.  At least this song doesn't spout a bunch of blasphemy under the guise of a pretty tune as does the original.  Enjoy!

Brunson V Adams - Action Needed NOW

Anyone with two brain cells firing in syncopation knows that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump.  Moreover, last month several elections were also stolen: Kari Lake in Arizona, Neil Parrott in Maryland, etc.  We can whine and cry about it till the cows come home.  But now some hope appears over the horizon to address the corruption that, if it remains unfettered, will reduce us to voiceless slaves of an oligarchy.  The question is, will we seize it and work with it?

Several brothers from Utah, ordinary citizens like the bulk of us here, have filed suit against the members of Congress who abdicated their duty to properly certify the Presidential election and let the fraud proceed unopposed.  The case is known as Brunson v Adams.  On January 6 2023, that is, in less than two weeks, the US Supreme Court will consider whether or not to hear this case.  Only four justices need to vote favorably in order for the case to move forward.  Note the case number 22-380.

This case, if heard and subsequently voted in favor of the Brunsons, could well cause the ouster of Biden, Harris, and those members of Congress listed therein who voted for certification without addressing the serious and well-founded allegations of irregularities that were brought to their attention prior to certification.  However, the intention of the Brunsons is not so much to alter the election as it is to deal with the rot and corruption that has infested our election mechanisms.

Here is the Petition for a Writ of Certiatorari as filed with the US Supreme Court.  It is this that will be considered in a matter of days.  The defendants simply refused to do their constitutional duty.  Yes, there are a lot of "usual suspects", but other surprise me.  Rand Paul??  Here's some explanatory commentary; more can be found by just googling "Brunson v Adams".

I will direct your attention to this piece with a call for necessary action by us all.  They suggest that we all write letters to the US Supreme Court and send copies to the Brunsons.  Addresses and some sample language are here.  Please do so NOW.  Time is of the essence here.

Wolves And Vultures Behind The Animus Against Father Pavone Are Exposed

Below these musings I will post two videos: one from today's Lepanto Institute where Michael and Alyssa Hichborn are discussing Father Pavone's plight, bringing some salient points to bear on the matter and also taking issue with some faithful Catholics who are drinking the anti-Pavone kool-aid.  Below that will be an interview with Father Gerald Murray (one of the Papal Posse from The World Over).  Father Murray is a canon lawyer and he will explain just why this bogus laicization just does not jive with canon law.  I urge that both videos be watched in their entirety.

Archbishop Vigano also released a strong statement that condemns the obvious attempt to stab Father Pavone in the back.  As I read it, I surmise that he isn't aware that Bishop Strickland of Tyler TX also voiced support for Father Pavone in his tweet.

More Information On Father Pavone

From Father Pavone's website, we have a history of his interactions with Church hierarchy, from his first involvement with Priests for Life until present.  He intends to fight this, as well he should.

The Code of Canon Law, sections 1717 - 1731, seem to indicate that the accused (in this case, Father Pavone) has a right to appeal and to present his case.  Specifically that is stated in section 1723.  There is one exception to that requirement: if the action is done by the pope.  That is the input from Father Gerald Murray, a canon lawyer who is associated with Robert Royal and Raymond Arroyo in the Papal Posse.  Moreover, a copy of the letter from the Papal Nuncio is now online.  The Papal Nuncio acts on behalf of the pope.  Hitherto, I had thought that maybe Francis wasn't involved with Father's removal, that it might have been too "small potatoes" for him.  I stand corrected, as it seems that Francis has bared his teeth here.

Now Canon 193 sec 4 states that removal from the office (priesthood) must be communicated in writing.  Father Pavone heard about his laicization in the same manner that most of us did - through the Catholic News Agency announcement yesterday. The Nuncio's letter was only made public today.  I still am uncertain as to whether or not Pavone received formal notice of this action.  Irregularities abound.

So do double standards.  One of the trumped up charges stems from Father displaying an aborted baby on a table that he sometimes used for Mass.  Zurek called that table "an altar" when in fact it was never consecrated as such.  However, if Bishop Zurek wants to get outraged over altar desecrations, the current occupant of the chair of Peter has provided at least two occasions for such indignation.   When Francis returned home from World Youth Day in 2013, he placed on an altar of St Mary Major Basilica, next to the Tabernacle, a beach ball and sports jersey.  In 2019, at a closing Mass in St Peter's after one of the countless synods, Francis placed on the altar a pachamama idol-plant.  Yes, the reputed pope placed an idol on a consecrated altar during Mass.  Bishop Zurek's anger would be more appropriately directed at that actual outrage.

Taylor Marshall below offers some insight into this whole vindictive attack on Father Pavone.

Marshall ended by exhorting us to prayer, fasting, personal holiness.  I take issue for that is not all we must do.  Yes we are laity, but some of us also have a few dollars - that should NOT go to the diocesan appeals and especially NOT to the Peter's Pence collections.  Now when (not if, when) we boycott these collections, it is not sufficient to refrain from contributions.  We must also drop into the collection baskets notes explaining precisely why we are boycotting - and sign your names.  The time for demure silence is long past.  They might cancel clerics, but we laity have rights that they don't.  Let's use them.

By the way - it appears that Father Pavone has at least one friend among the bishops.  Bishop Strickland decried the nuncio's letter in a tweet.

Father Frank Pavone Laicized???

This from the Catholic News Agency - Father Frank Pavone, pro-life activist and director of Priests for Life has been dismissed from the clerical state for "blasphemous communications on social media" and "disobedience to his bishop".  Mind you, Father Pavone has yet to receive formal notice of this action himself.  I too find it odd that CNA would learn of it before Father did.

Assuming that this is true, let's look at some context.  Francis celebrates Father James Martin, bestowing upon the perversion-advocating cleric high Vatican posts as well as private audiences, the latter never having been granted to the dubia cardinals nor to Cardinal Zen.  We see Knestout the Richmond bishop running interference for a priest that just happens to be a convicted sex offender.  Bishop Stowe of Louisville Kentucky ran roughshod over high school boys who were faithful Catholics and Trump supporters, and apologizing to gays for them being called out on their perversions.  This list could go on and on.

But Francis et al single out Father Pavone for maltreatment?  This isn't only about Father Pavone.  The Vatican goons are firing the proverbial "shot across the bow" to other Catholic clergy who might have the decency to comport themselves as actual Catholics instead of toadying to the New World Order and the Great Reset.

If course I'm hoping this announcement isn't true, but I suspect it is.

Bishop Knestout Confronted About His Surreptitious Infliction Of Sex Offender On Unsuspecting Parish

George Neumayr went to Bishop Knestout's residence and asked his point-blank why he made that appointment (see post from Tuesday).  Here it is.  Here Knestout displayed the same cowardice that marked his so-called "interview" with Father Guarnizo and the sniveling apology to the lesbian who was denied Holy Communion ten years ago in Montgomery County MD.

Might This Be The REAL Reason Why Cardinal Pell Was Thrown Under The Bus?

Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, while President of the Pontifical Council for the Family, diverted hundreds of thousands of euros away from its intended charitable purposes to real estate renovations.  One of those renovation projects was the refurbishing of his apartments in Rome.  This misappropriation was discovered by Cardinal Pell in his capacity of Secretariat for the Economy in 2014.  In 2015 attempts were made in earnest to have Cardinal Pell imprisoned on the basis of decades-old allegations of sexual abuse.  My!  Isn't the timing of these legal shenanigans such a coincidence?  Nothing to see here!  Move along!

Side note: If Paglia had spent some of that money to have this eyesore removed from his titular cathedral, perhaps that might have been an acceptable expenditure.  But I digress.

Paglia currently heads the much-disgraced Pontifical Academy for Life.  Recently one of the academy's moral theologians, Father Maurizio Chiodi, claimed that Humanae Vitae is not part of the Church's magisterium and thus its contents were basically fair game for change.  Among his excuses for this attempt to change centuries-old teachings is the attempt to change other centuries-old teachings of the church, namely the teachings regarding the death penalty.

Chiodi validated a point that I and others made regarding the pope's attempt to mutilate the Church's teaching on the death penalty.  Over four years ago I blogged that the death penalty attempt was an attempt to buy into the erroneous notion that Church teaching can be changed.  If it could be changed for the death penalty, why not contraception?  It's a classic case of calling good (death penalty) evil and calling evil (contraception) good.

Regrettably, their ploy seems to be working.  We can fault not only Francis and Paglia for that, but also ourselves for not educating ourselves regarding authentic Church teaching.

Bishop Knestout, Who Expelled A Faithful Priest, Appoints A Pervert Priest As Pastor

George Neumayr published the account of Bishop Barry Knestout of the Diocese of Richmond (VA) appointing as pastor of St Augustine a public sex offender without notifying the parishioners. The criminal priest in question is Father Wayne Ball.  He pled guilty to "lewd acts" with another male in a car in a parking lot.  At the time of the incident and subsequent hearing, he was at another parish.  Those parishioners petitioned for his removal and hence he left.

The excuse being proffered for this appointment is that no underage person was involved.  In other words, Ball did not rape a boy.  However, he is a priest and he is obliged to obey the Church's moral laws and honor his priestly vows.  That is, no one may engage in homosexual relations as they are inherently sinful.  Not only is it natural law and (should have been) taught in Catholic education, but the man attended seminary where (we hope) he would have received further teaching on the matter.  Moreover, there are his priestly vows of celibacy, meaning he can engage in no sexual relations whatsoever.

But Bishop Knestout thought it no big deal to inflict a pervert upon one of his parishes.  Oh, by the way.  At the USCCB meeting last month, he was elected/appointed Chair of the Bishops' Committee on the Protection of Children and Young People.  This is grounds for calling for his immediate removal from that position.  He sent a known pervert to a parish that presumably has teen-aged boys without any warning whatsoever to parents.

Bishop Knestout should immediately remove him from ministry with the same speed and alacrity with which he removed Father Marcel Guarnizo from his parish assignment while he was Auxiliary Bishop in the Archdiocese of Washington.  There is one teeny bit of difference between Ball and Guarnizo.  The former has engaged in homosexual perversions while the latter denied Holy Communion to a woman living in a sinful lesbian relationship.  He wrote this nice sniveling apology - to the woman who was prevented from committing sacrilege against the Blessed Sacrament.

A reasonable person could surmise from all this that Bishop Knestout seems to be coddling and "running interference" for those engaging in mortally sinful homosexual conduct, no matter who is harmed in the process - faithful priests or unsuspecting parishioners.

At the bottom of his article, Neumayr suggests that all contact Bishop Knestout and urge him to do right by the parishioners of St. Augustine.  I might add two things.  First, also suggest that Knestout resign from his new USCCB post as his obfuscation of the truth regarding Ball is the very antithesis of the mission of that committee.  Second, notify Archbishop Lori of the same; the Diocese of Richmond is a suffragan under the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

Our Parish Times - Just Another Catholic Standard

Our Parish Times is a periodical published by the Catholic Businessmen's Network, founded in 1991.  It focuses on news pertaining to the Catholic parishes in Montgomery County MD.  Each parish has its own page, with some other columns here and there.  Frankly, these pages are filled with happy cheery stuff, with lots of photo-op types of pictures.  Oh, yes!  It has lots and lots of advertisements sprinkled throughout, most if not all of them from members of the CBN.  Since the periodical is free for the taking from church lobbies, I must presume that their revenue comes from the ads.

At one time I found OPT to be a refreshing alternative to the archdiocesan propaganda rag known as the Catholic Standard.  It was not uncommon to find columns that discussed the very real problems and scandals that plagued the Church.  Some of them were outright critical of the various cover-ups.  About 10 years ago, anything that could be considered critical of the chancery disappeared from the OPT.  As a case in point they mentioned not one peep about archdiocesan misbehavior that literally made international news.  Did OPT trade its journalistic integrity for permission to place their ads in church lobbies?

The OPT has also taken up the habit of schmoozing with progressives who work, or did work, for the Archdiocese.  Chuck Short is one such individual, with his column appearing on the front page.  Yesterday I picked up the December 2022 issue from a church lobby.  At the bottom right hand corner we read that the former director of social concerns for the Archdiocese of Washington will be inducted into Montgomery County's "Human Rights Hall of Fame".

I'm not going to go into the kind of "social justice warriors" who were inducted into that dubious clique over the years.  All you have to do is contemplate the progressives who run Montgomery County and you get the idea.  Therefore, Short's induction into that cabal comes as no surprise.  What is disappointing is the absolute chortling in which the OPT engages, right on its front page.  It is disgusting beyond all telling to see this kind of slobber in publications that hold themselves out to be Catholic.  This is just one small reason (among many) why so many hold the Faith in contempt.  The staff of Our Parish Times should be ashamed of themselves.

US Congress Insults Our Lady Of The Immaculate Conception

I join my friend and blogging colleague at Les Femmes in lamenting the House vote on the mis-named "Respect for Marriage Act" today.  It is, in fact, an attempt to utterly distort true marriage as God intended.  Yes, these perversions have always existed, but now we're just one step away from enshrining perversion into law and thus incurring national guilt for yet another sin that cries to God for vengeance.  There is no doubt that Joe Biden will sign this pig-slop presently.

There is one detail that I think my friend missed.  In 1846, the bishops of the United States named as patron saint Our Lady under her title Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.  I don't know if Pelosi really had it in mind to insult Our Lady like that.  Perhaps she just wanted to get this bill passed before she surrenders her Speaker's gavel in a few weeks.  At any rate, the vote on this day is a monumental blasphemy all around as our country has thumbed its nose at its patron saint.

As mentioned in the previous post, we must pray our Rosaries, make the Five First Saturday devotions, live as true Catholics who honor and obey God.  Pray seriously for our nation and western civilization, for God will not be mocked.  Much punishment is on the horizon.

The Fake Sister Lucy - And Why It Matters

After the Fatima apparitions, the children said that Our Lady confided three secrets to them and that they were to be announced no later than 1960.  Moreover, the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart was supposed to be done by the pope as soon as possible but no later than 1960.  To date, neither has happened.  Ironically, Francis is the one who has come closest to fulfilling the consecration request in that he explicitly mention Russia by name, but he did not order the bishops to join him in the consecration (a number of them did, though, on their own initiative).

In the middle of the 20th century, Sister Lucia stated several times that Our Lady was displeased at the delay in fulfilling her requests.  Then, in the 1980s, after John Paul II consecrated the world - not mentioning Russia by name - to her Immaculate Heart, Sister Lucia was quoted as saying that this consecration fulfilled Our Lady's request.  That is, of course, a flat-out lie.  Our Lady was quite specific when she said that Russia must be consecrated.  She singled out Russia, and the consecration should have done the same.  I had always hypothesized that Sister Lucia was being misquoted by bad-actor bishops and that may indeed be the case.  Now that some are coming forth with evidence that the Lucy that we've been seeing for the past few decades may be an imposter, we can reasonably entertain the possibility that this bogus Lucy did claim that John Paul's consecration was according to Our Lady's stipulations.

Think of it.  This woman, if she was an imposter, was lying anyway.  Why would she have any compunctions regarding her false claim?  For that matter, her claim regarding the third secret is probably also a lie and we still aren't being told the full story, contrary to Our Lady's wishes.  I post three videos below and ask that you watch these closely.  I will have more commentary below them.

In the Lifesite clip, Dr Chojnowski mentioned (the real) Sister Lucy's insistence that the third secret be announced no later than 1960 or the time of her death.  However, in a 1993 interview, the imposter said that the secret was not to be released.  This is at the 29:03 mark of the video.

Not only do we have a clear contradiction, but perhaps we have here a motive for replacing Sister Lucy with an imposter.  During much of the 1950s, Pius XII was pope.  Aside from his own faulty consecration (he mentioned Russia but did not involve the bishops) he seemed ready to obey the Fatima message, meaning that he would have released the third secret in compliance with those deadlines.  I am now hypothesizing, but perhaps the real Sister Lucy passed away in the 1950s.  To prevent the pope from revealing the Third Secret, is it possible that the masons in the Vatican coughed up a scheme to present a phony Lucy so Pius would not believe it incumbent to reveal the Third Secret?

Perhaps several popes were deceived by her.  She was cloistered and not seen frequently.  Pope John XXIII still could not have been held blameless as 1960 happened during his pontificate.  Again, this is just a theory, but it sounds more humane than if the masons actually harmed the real Sister Lucy.

At any rate, it seems to be the case that what we have here is a brazen attempt to thwart the intentions of the Mother of God, and of Our Lord Himself.  If nothing else, it shows that the masons believe in the spiritual ramifications of the Fatima message; why else would they work so feverishly to thwart it?  And no, it wasn't just mere fear of insulting the Soviet Union.  They knew what they were doing - engaging in yet another attempt to undermine Holy Mother Church.

So how have they gotten by with this scam for so long?  There are a multiple of factors.

  • Catholics today, even well-meaning Catholics, are simply ignorant of both Church teaching and Church history.  In this day and age, with the internet at our disposal, such ignorance is inexcusable.  I would recommend some serious reading and study.  For details about Fatima, read accounts dated 1950-ish or older.  Compare that with what the imposter said.
  • Well-meaning Catholics are way too naïve regarding clergy and other leaders.  One would think that the sex scandals might have knocked off some rose-colored glasses but for too many, that has not been the case.  There is evil in the Church, even in the Vatican itself.  Wake up
Above all, pray and  frequently avail yourselves of the Sacraments.  Go to a Traditional Latin Mass if at all possible.  Pray your Rosaries daily and wear the brown scapular.  Practice the Five First Saturday devotions, as requested by Our Lady of Fatima.  Pray for a pope who will consecrate Russia exactly as she stipulated and who will reveal the Third Secret.  We are in a time of chastisement (in case you haven't noticed) and it will worsen, barring a direct intervention from God.  We don't have time to waste.

Freemasonry Infiltrated The Church Decades Ago - The Novus Ordo Mass Is Just One Result

I have known that for a while now, having read a bit about Freemasonry and how it insinuated itself into the Church over the past 100+ years.  LifeSiteNews published a report six weeks ago entitled "Is Masonic Infiltration Responsible For The Widespread Apostacy Among Catholic Clergy?"  That and more.  Anyone who is seriously concerned about the state of affairs in the Church (that should be everyone who calls themselves "Catholic") needs to read that report carefully.  It is long past the time when faithful Catholics can wear rose-colored glasses in regards to the quality of our clergy.  If such Catholics remain stubborn against calling a spade a spade, they will be held culpable of aiding great sin in the Church.

In this report, you'll see some background information regarding:

  • Setting an arbitrary retirement age of 75 years for bishops, allowing Masonic Vatican officials to replace the retirees with their Masonic accomplices
  • The placement of harmful prelates such as McCarrick, Mahoney, Brown, etc in their respective sees
  • The assassination of Pope John Paul I
  • The creation of the Novus Ordo Mass by the Mason Anabale Bugnini
The report, at the beginning, cites "Alta Vendita", where the plan for the ruin of the Church was laid out.  It is readily available for reading.  I'd suggest getting it from the Tan Books site.  As you read it, bear in mind that it was written over 100 years ago.  The authors knew that their plans would take decades to implement and that they wouldn't live to see them come to fruition.  But they advocated patience.  Now we may wonder, since they have come to their final end, what they think now - but I digress.

So what brought about this infiltration?  Obviously evil people have been trying to destroy the Church since Christ founded it Himself.  I cannot recall, though, when the evil inside the Church has had such an upper hand.  Perhaps this quote from Saint John Eudes might shed some light.  From his book, "The Priest: His Duties and Obligations"..The most evident mark of God’s anger and the most terrible castigation He can inflict upon the world are manifested when He permits His people to fall into the hands of clerics who are priests more in name than in deed, priests who practice the cruelty of ravening wolves rather than the charity and affection of devoted shepherds. Instead of nourishing those committed to their care, they rend and devour them brutally. Instead of leading their people to God, they drag Christian souls into hell in their train. Instead of being the salt of the earth and the light of the world, they are its innocuous poison and its murky darkness. St. Gregory the Great says that priests and pastors will stand condemned before God as the murderers of any souls lost through neglect or silence….

When God permits such things, it is a very positive proof that He is thoroughly angry with His people, and is visiting His most dreadful anger upon them. That is why He cries unceasingly to Christians, “Return, 0 ye revolting children . . . and I will give you pastors according to my own heart” (Jer. 314-15). Thus, irregularities in the lives of priests constitute a scourge visited upon the people in consequence of sin."

For instance, so many of us have decried the refusal of the popes since 1960 to consecrate Russia to Mary's Immaculate Heart.  Yet how many of us are faithful to the daily Rosary and the Five First Saturdays devotion?  How often do we advocate it?  Also, how many of us tolerate the liturgical abuses of the Novus Ordo without raising one protest, for fear of incurring personal dislike from the priests?

Many of us decry the errors of Francis as he occupies the Chair of Peter, but how many of us have turned blind eyes to the errors of Pope John Paul II and even Pope Benedict XVI?  How many of us complied with the lockdowns and absented ourselves from Mass, when Masses were available (albeit at some sacrifice)?

I will suggest some things that I and others have been suggesting for some time.
  • Attend the Traditional Latin Mass, even if you have to drive a bit.  By the way, contrary to popular fairy tale, the SSPX is NOT in schism.  You can attend those Masses and still fulfill Sunday obligation.
  • If you have no other choice but to attend Novus Ordo, be reverent and respectful of the Blessed Sacrament on the altar.  Do not behave as though the nave of the church is a social hall.  You might stick out like a sore thumb by so doing, but so what?  Perhaps others, by reason of your example, might come to deeper belief in the Real Presence.
  • Pray your Rosaries daily for the conversion of the world.
  • Learn as much as you can regarding how the Church got to this sorry state of affairs and tell others about it.

"I Do Not Say Person Because This Is Debated But A Living Human Being

Did this nonsense come from Joe Biden or Nancy Pelosi?  We'd expect such distortions of logic to come from them or some other pro-abort now, wouldn't we?  Nope!  It comes from the current occupant of the chair of Peter, Francis.  This came from a recent interview that he gave to the Jesuit kitty-litter known as "America".  Please see the tweet below.

In past years, I never could understand how the bishops could be so spineless when it came to making a stand for innocent human life and rebuking pro-aborts in their midst.  I thought they were just being weak and/or currying political and financial favors.  Then their masks started sliding off and I realized that many if not most of the bishops are just as pro-abortion as Biden, Pelosi, Ted Kennedy et al.  I now believe that Francis just tipped his hand in that regard - if he bothers to hide his cards in the first place.

We simply must stop blindly taking this man's prattling as though it were God's word, lest we find our souls in danger.

Refuting Attempts To Discredit The Mass Of The Ages

Over a month ago, three theologians, Drs. Mary Healy and John Cavadini, with Father Thomas Weinandy, wrote a series of articles that appeared in Church Life Journal.  I haven't read all the articles, but what I read seems to be an attempt at justifying the heavy-handedness of Francis' Traditionis Custodes.  I'm not going into all the detail of the errors here.  Two other theologians, Drs Joseph Shaw and Peter Kwasniewski, have done an excellent job.  I suggest that all links be read, even the links contained in the linked articles.

I am not acquainted with Dr. Cavadini, but am with Dr. Healy and Father Weinandy, although it's been quite a few years since I've seen either of them.  That acquaintance goes back to our days in the Mother of God Community, a group that was part of the so-called "charismatic renewal" that fell under scrutiny owing to cultish behaviors on the part of the leadership in the early 1990s.  I parted ways with that group at that time.  A major reason for my departure was the overemphasis on personal experience over adherence to Catholic doctrine.  The Novus Ordo Mass is geared to personal experience whereas the Traditional Latin Mass is geared towards worship of God exclusively.

That last word "exclusively" is key.  You'll not find sloppy dress nor conduct in a church dedicated to the Traditional Latin Mass.  Women dress decently and modestly: no exposed body parts, cloths modest and in good repair.  Similarly, men are not dressed as though they were just in a drunken brawl: no jeans, tee-shirts but lots of suits and ties.  Before and after Mass in the nave of the church, there is no chit-chat going on between adults.  One might hear the occasional cooing of babies.  Speaking of which, there are many young families with many children at at Traditional Latin Mass, more so than at a Novus Ordo.

I myself attend both.  On Sundays I will attend a Traditional Latin Mass, although I must drive some distance to do so.  That Mass isn't available other days for me so I will attend the Novus Ordo Masses.  Often at those Masses I am reminded of why I prefer the Traditional Latin Mass.  However, if I truly believed that the Novus Ordo Mass was an inherent danger to my faith, I would not attend (barring Holy Days of Obligation).  I personally don't know anyone who attends the Traditional Latin Mass who believes it would be dangerous and even sinful to attend.  The CHW series intimates, though, that this mindset is so prevalent as to justify Francis' draconian actions towards the Traditional Latin Mass.  I realize that a few attendees of the Traditional Latin Mass do hold those erroneous attitudes towards the Novus Ordo, but to attribute such mindsets towards all the attendees, including me, and to publish such attributions veers into sins of slander and libel.

Some faithful and courageous prelates are not taking this attack on the Latin Mass lying down.  Archbishop Vigano penned an open letter to another Italian bishop, taking him to task for his senseless quashing of the Latin Mass.  There have been others.  As I track them down, I will repost.

Addendum as of November 28  Mr. Kwasniewski offered more commentary exposing the errors underlying the CHW piece.

France Tries To Quash An Actual Catholic Priest

I wrote a few weeks ago about the persecution of Father Sean Sheehy in Ireland who denounced abortion from the pulpit.  Now we hear of a similar occurrence in France.  Father Francois Schneider, during an Armistace Day Mass on November 11, pointed out that abortion killed more people than did World War 1.  Apparently that wasn't the first time Father Schneider dared speak truth to his congregation and they had enough.  The cry-babies whined to the chancery and the diocesan superiors forbade Father to speak in public for four weeks.  After all, we can't have Catholic priests speaking like...Catholic priests, now, can we?

The LifeSiteNews article contains a link to the diocesan web page.  If you use Chrome, you can ask it to translate it into English.  Then click the "contact us" button and leave your protest.  Be firm and truthful.  While not forgetting that you yourselves are Catholics, do NOT feel you have to be overly conciliatory.  The time for "nice guy" is long past.

Cardinal Gregory Cancels Youth Rally And Mass For Life - That May Be A Good Thing

Recently Cardinal Gregory of the Archdiocese of Washington announced that the Youth Rally and Mass for Life that the archdiocese sponsored for the past 25 years will be canceled.  Many pro-life people are outraged and understandably so.  Me, not so much, and I'll explain why.

Having been friends of a previous director and assistant director of the Archdiocese pro-life office, I have a bit of an insider perspective of these events.  I know that prior to each event, both directors worked for several months non-stop to pull these events together.  Many logistical details had to be worked out.  What that meant is that they didn't have time for other pro-life matters in the archdiocese.  I believe this is one reason why the parish pro-life organizations received no real direction from the chancery.  They were left to flounder.  Now, looking back at some of the prelates involved, I wonder if these rallies were meant to keep the two directors, who are honorable and sincere people, too busy to direct any meaningful and effective pro-life efforts at the grass roots.

The spiritual tenor of these events left much to be desired.  When they first started under Cardinal Hickey, the rally consisted of a few talks that were helpful to varying degrees.  That changed after his retirement when the former "Cardinal" McCarrick took over.  It moved from the DAR Constitution Hall to the MCI Center near Chinatown.  It became much more entertainment-oriented, geared towards the high school kids in attendance.  In other words, save for the Mass, it became quite a dog-and-pony show, taking up much effort and money that could have been spent on real constructive pro-life projects.

I also noticed something else.  When these Masses ended and the attendees went to join the main rally on the Ellipse, the main rally was ending and getting ready to process to the Supreme Court.  Realizing that these thousands of people were not being included in the counts taken by the DC police department, I decided to inquire about that.  I got the opportunity to do so at an event at the Rosensteel Knights of Columbus Hall in early January.  One of DC's auxiliary bishops, who is now deceased, gave an address.  Before he scooted out the door, I presented my concerns to him, suggesting the very thing that Cardinal Gregory is now doing.  First, he opined that the kids needed to be entertained or else they wouldn't accept the pro-life message.  I was appalled at the condescension towards the young people.  He also claimed that Nellie Gray had on the stage some speakers whom the chancery didn't think deserved a Catholic audience.  I found out later that one speaker whom they eschewed was the late Senator Jesse Helms, who I always held to be an honorable man.

After that conversation, I never attended another of those rallies and Masses.  I simply went to Mass elsewhere.  Actually I did attend one or two of them, but only because I had handouts to distribute.  I wanted to be included in the headcount for Nellie Gray's rallies.

I don't know why Cardinal Gregory decided to cancel these events.  Given other actions of his, I've no doubt that his reasons for doing so may well indicate no pro-life convictions.  I would simply suggest that the attendees go to Mass elsewhere at the numerous churches in the near vicinity.  The Catholic schools that once sent their students to the rallies need to redouble their efforts at teaching Catholic morality to their students.  They also need to get themselves to the March for Life rallies - the entire rallies.  Cardinal Gregory might well have done the pro-life movement a great service, even if inadvertently.  He may have communicated the message that young people need to obey God's laws for God's sake, not because they were "entertained" into doing so.

Bishops Meeting In Baltimore Starts Tomorrow November 14 - It's Time To Call Them Out

Yesterday's Mass was the Memorial of St. Josaphat, bishop and martyr.  The first reading appears below.

Here John is exhorting the recipients to assist some missionaries.  Take note of the third line from the bottom, where it says that these missionaries "are accepting nothing from the pagans".  Dear readers, for the past several decades, our bishops have sold the collective soul of the US Catholic Church as they grovel and snivel before de facto pagan governments for huge sums of our tax dollars.  Of course many of these receipts are funneled to leftwing progressive organizations.

We can rest assured that they will be strategizing ways to suck some more from the federal teats.  That will be high on the priority list along with the ongoing efforts to strangle the Traditional Latin Mass and marginalize faithful Catholics, while allowing pro-abortion politicians and other celebrities to receive Holy Communion sacrilegiously.  Baby-slaughter, gay perversions and loss of supernatural faith among Catholics will register mere blips on their radar screens - if that much.

Fortunately faithful Catholics are rising up and are calling our bishops to be the shepherds that they've been ordained to be.  Please see the flyer below.  This is a call for Catholic men to be actual men.  I know that many men have participated in the "That Man Is You" and the "Exodus 90" programs these past few years.  Now here's a golden opportunity to put some walk to all that talk.  Men in the Baltimore/DC area, be there!  If you are in distant areas of the country, organize your own marches.

Let Church Bulletins Keep Silence

Today I attended a Rosary Rally for the Latin Mass at the Vatican Embassy in Washington DC.  The Arlington Latin Mass Society has been conducting these rallies for two months now, where they pray the Rosary (in Latin) for the freedom to celebrate the Tridentine Mass without the ridiculous hindrances imposed by Traditionis Custodes.

I met a lady there who composed this parody hymn and put it on youtube.  Here it is.  I believe there are more on her youtube channel.

If you live in the MD/DC/VA area, stop by and pray for an end to the unjust suppression of the Latin Mass that is being done in direct disobedience to Quo Primum, issued by Pope St Pius V after the Council of Trent.

On The Cusp Of The Elections, They Now Try Pandemisty

From the October 31st issue of the Atlantic, we read this "cya" (that's short for "cover your arse") piece from Emily Oster.

LET’S DECLARE A PANDEMIC AMNESTY

Let’s focus on the future, and fix the problems we still need to solve.

In April 2020, with nothing else to do, my family took an enormous number of hikes. We all wore cloth masks that I had made myself. We had a family hand signal, which the person in the front would use if someone was approaching on the trail and we needed to put on our masks.  Once, when another child got too close to my then-4-year-old son on a bridge, he yelled at her “SOCIAL DISTANCING!”

These precautions were totally misguided. In April 2020, no one got the coronavirus from passing someone else hiking. Outdoor transmission was vanishingly rare. Our cloth masks made out of old bandanas wouldn’t have done anything, anyway. But the thing is: We didn’t know.

I have been reflecting on this lack of knowledge thanks to a class I’m co-teaching at Brown University on COVID. We’ve spent several lectures reliving the first year of the pandemic, discussing the many important choices we had to make under conditions of tremendous uncertainty.

Some of these choices turned out better than others. To take an example close to my own work, there is an emerging (if not universal) consensus that schools in the U.S. were closed for too long: The health risks of in-school spread were relatively low, whereas the costs to students’ well-being and educational progress were high. The latest figures on learning loss are alarming.  But in spring and summer 2020, we had only glimmers of information. Reasonable people—people who cared about children and teachers—advocated on both sides of the reopening debate.

Obviously some people intended to mislead and made wildly irresponsible claims. Remember when the public-health community had to spend a lot of time and resources urging Americans not to inject themselves with bleach? That was bad. Misinformation was, and remains, a huge problem. But most errors were made by people who were working in earnest for the good of society.

Given the amount of uncertainty, almost every position was taken on every topic. And on every topic, someone was eventually proved right, and someone else was proved wrong. In some instances, the right people were right for the wrong reasons. In other instances, they had a prescient understanding of the available information.

The people who got it right, for whatever reason, may want to gloat. Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts. All of this gloating and defensiveness continues to gobble up a lot of social energy and to drive the culture wars, especially on the internet. These discussions are heated, unpleasant and, ultimately, unproductive. In the face of so much uncertainty, getting something right had a hefty element of luck. And, similarly, getting something wrong wasn’t a moral failing. Treating pandemic choices as a scorecard on which some people racked up more points than others is preventing us from moving forward.

Moving on is crucial now, because the pandemic created many problems that we still need to solve.

Student test scores have shown historic declines, more so in math than in reading, and more so for students who were disadvantaged at the start. We need to collect data, experiment, and invest. Is high-dosage tutoring more or less cost-effective than extended school years? Why have some states recovered faster than others? We should focus on questions like these, because answering them is how we will help our children recover.

Many people have neglected their health care over the past several years. Notably, routine vaccination rates for children (for measles, pertussis, etc.) are way down. Rather than debating the role that messaging about COVID vaccines had in this decline, we need to put all our energy into bringing these rates back up. Pediatricians and public-health officials will need to work together on community outreach, and politicians will need to consider school mandates.

The standard saying is that those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. But dwelling on the mistakes of history can lead to a repetitive doom loop as well. Let’s acknowledge that we made complicated choices in the face of deep uncertainty, and then try to work together to build back and move forward.

END OF SNIVEL-PIECE

I can sum all this up in a few words: "Oopsie-boopsie!  Some mistakes were made!  Well, why don't we just let bygones be bygones and forget about making amends?"

Emily et al, it doesn't work that way.  Either you're hopelessly clueless or flat out lying.  I think it's the latter.

One thing that sticks out is the ridiculous "we didn't know" nonsense.  You had no excuse for not knowing.  Sensible people had been saying all along that the shutdowns and vaccines were harmless.  For their attempts to spread the truth, many of them lost their livelihoods and even suffered legal sanctions.  Social media giants such as Facebook and Twitter were unabashed in cancelling any viewpoint that didn't tow the Fauci line.  To this day, Facebook continues to wag its finger at me and others if we dare post a meme that shows the vaccine narrative to be a complete farce.

In that entire screed of Oster's, I saw no hint of apology for:

  • The small businesses that were forced to cease operations, bringing financial ruin to their owners.
  • The ever-increasing count of young people who are "mysteriously dying" from heart issues, often from vaccine-induced blot-clots.  Where are the apologies to their grief-stricken families?
  • The elderly who were in nursing homes who were exposed to Covid patients when liberal governors had them transferred to the homes?
  • Many sick and elderly people in hospitals who were isolated from their families, being forced to die alone.
  • The millions of children who had their intellectual and social development stunted by both social isolation and the inane masks.
  • The uptick in substance abuse, domestic violence, divorce, and even suicides due to enforced isolation.
  • Those patients falsely diagnosed with Covid so that hospitals could get their per-covid-patient grants?
  • The absolutely unethical withholding of information regarding the benefits of ivermectin, hydroxichloroquine, zinc, quercetin, vitamins D3 and C.
  • The poisoning of people via the usage of remdesivir.
  • The draconian punishments and even imprisonments of common-sense people who refused to be masked and/or isolated.
  • Those who were fired from jobs because they refused to be injected with the vaccines.
  • Any other deleterious effects of this pandemic nonsense
Until there's some accounting for these crimes, there will be no amnesty whatsoever.  We demand accountability and we will make those demands heard on November 8.

P.S. - Francis, bishops et al, that means you too.  In addition to the above, you must answer for all the Catholics who were denied the Sacraments at the cusps of their deaths, some of whom may have died in mortal sin.  You must answer for the shuttered Churches, the denial of Holy Mass.  You must repent and it must be public repentance for the public harm done.

Another Priest Canceled For Preaching Like A Catholic

Approximately ten years ago at St. John Neumann Church in Gaithersburg MD, Father Marcel Guarnizo was celebrating the funeral Mass of a parishioner.  Her daughter happened to be a flaming lesbian and made Father quite aware of that fact minutes before the Mass began.  When the daughter presented herself for Holy Communion, Father refused to let her commit sacrilege by receiving unworthily.  Days later, he was summarily ejected from the Archdiocese of Washington.  Since then, several such incidents have occurred throughout the western world, where good priests have been betrayed by their corrupt bishops.

The latest occurred a few days ago in County Kerry, Ireland.  Father Sean Sheehy, a retired priest residing at St Mary's Church in Listowel, celebrated a memorial Mass for a deceased parishioner.  He lambasted the sins of abortion, contraception and sodomy in his homily, causing some badly-formed Catholics to clutch their pearls.  They scurried off to Bishop Kerry Browne.  Instead of explaining why Father was correct, Browne offered a sniveling apology, stating that Father's words "do not represent the Christian position."  Bishop Browne needs a catechism refresher course.  Then he forbade Father to celebrate any more Masses

I trust that the faithful Catholics of County Kerry are raising their voices and closing their wallets in protest.

Halloween - How Should Catholics Approach This Day?

Around this time, there is a lot of back-and-forth between Catholics regarding the merits and demerits of celebrating Halloween with secular traditions.  One faction seems to advocate not celebrating it at all, citing satanic rituals that happen that day.  On the other hand, we have those who seem to think that simply because their childhoods included the secular traditions, those traditions are harmless.

I link now to a piece from Michael Matt that leans towards the second extreme.  I'm all for some fun on that day, but some of those traditions are sinful.  Take the pranks, for example.  Mention is made of soaping up car windows.  That is not innocent, harmless fun.  Boys and girls, can we say "vandalism"?  God forbid if one of those hapless car owners had a medical emergency during the night and needed to go to a hospital quickly.  First they had to wash their windows.  I've also dealt with the inherent sinfulness of pranks in a previous post.

Below is a clip of Father Ripperger and Taylor Marshall discussing this very topic.  In it are very good things that can be done to make Halloween both a fun and uplifting experience.  Father is an exorcist so I'd take him seriously when he advises against dressing as witches, ghosts, monsters, anything to do with the occult.

The SSPX - Preservers Of The Holy Mass

Bishop Athanasius Schneider was recently in the country.  I had the opportunity to hear him in person a few weeks ago, and I might elaborate on that in another post.  For now, I'll post a LifeSiteNews summary of things that he stated regarding the SSPX.  First I'll post my own comments about the SSPX.

In the early days of the pandemic shutdown (spring of 2020), all the Catholic churches in the area were locked.  No one could go to Mass in person and no one could receive actual Holy Communion.  This was by order of the bishops, an order that actually exceeded the already-draconian measures demanded by the governments.  Only the SSPX offered in-person Mass, with the opportunity to physically receive Holy Communion.  Mind you, these were the "parking lot" Masses where we had to remain in our cars, but at least we were present for Mass and could receive Our Lord.  I had to drive 2-3 hours each way, but it was well worth the time and effort.  Without the SSPX I and others would have been starved of the Eucharist.  If things ever get nutty again, I will attend SSPX masses in a heartbeat.

Now for the LifeSite piece, and I especially recommend this to those who insist on claiming that the SSPX is schismatic and that I and others are guilty of schism or other such nonsense.

Francis Plops Another Synod Stinker Upon The Church

As many of you know, the pope and cabal initiated a "Synod on Synodality".  That is no joke.  They are literally talking about talking.  Not only that, but they've decided to extend the gabfest for who knows how long.  We know from past synods what the real deal is.  The New World Order wonks - and that includes Francis - have an agenda that will be realized through this.  They are merely putting on this charade to give the appearance that they really care about input from real Catholics.  But I suppose enough people are naive enough to believe that they aren't being played for fools, although there has been plenty of precedent for them to realize the truth.

In any event, the Vatican released a few days ago a "Working Document for the Continental Stage".  What is a "continental stage"?  Who knows?  I doubt they know or care.  As you can see, I've linked to the 45-page tome.

Michael Hichborn of Lepanto Institute worked off some time in purgatory by reading through that mess, and analyzing it for us.  You might want to have the link above opened so that you can verify for your own sakes the quotes that Hichborn unpacks in his video.  Make no mistake.  They, from Francis on down, are trying to mutate the Church into a horrid caricature of Her true nature.  The Church is the Mystical Body of Christ so she can never be destroyed, but they sure are trying.  In their efforts, these progressives will endanger their own souls, plus the souls of countless others who have the "itching ears" of which Paul warned to Timothy.

So now we have this long-winded screed written by Vatican gas-bags telling us that mortal sins such as adultery, sodomy, fornication, contraception, idolatry, etc aren't really all that bad.  Of course that is false and we see that this mish-mash is sinful in and of itself, as it is chock-full of cooperation with mortal sin.  I cannot think of a single document that has come from the Francis mockery of a papacy that hasn't explicitly promoted mortal sin and/or heresy.  If I am incorrect, please post examples in the com-boxes.

Let's not be hesitant to explain to others just why this "synod" and the countless others sure to follow are spiritual poison.  Let's keep praying our rosaries.

Why These US Midterm Elections Matter

In this clip, Michael Matt speaks about the current state of the world and the need for Christians to vote.  I too see hopeful signs.  One of those signs is that people who, six years ago, thumbed their noses at Donald Trump for not being a pure pro-lifer, are understanding that they cannot pretend to sit elections out.  They cannot deny that had they had their way, Roe v Wade's specter would continue to hover over our heads.

In Maryland and probably other areas, it really means voting straight Republican.  It is the Democrats who've enshrined baby-slaughter and sexual perversions in their party platform.  We need to vote for their opponents.  Anyway, here's the clip.

Maryland Catholic Conference Coughs Up Another Ridiculous "Candidate Survey"

The Maryland Catholic Conference, in anticipation of the November 8 elections, released what it calls a "candidate survey".  It appears in the latest paper issue of Washington's Catholic Standard and presumably in Baltimore's Catholic Review.  This survey is typical of its prior productions.  That is, it is worse than useless.

Please take a look at the questions as they appear for the gubernatorial race. This is actually superior to the questions for down-ticket offices.  But note the order of questions.  Abortion is clearly playing second-fiddle to "poverty assistance".  The latter issue is one in which the progressive Church establishment (MCC included in that cabal) gloms onto the "new world order" take on the matter.  The candidates who get the green check-mark, indicating agreement with USCCB positions, are the progressives who are pro-abortion.  Moreover, the abortion question only deals with public funding for abortion, not the need to eradicate abortion from Maryland.  I did say that the questions for governor-candidates are the more sensible for the pro-life candidate could earn three check marks indicating agreement with Church teaching.  That isn't the case with other races.

Look at the questions posed to the candidates for US House of Representatives.  They deal with (listed in order as they appear on the survey):

  1. Education
  2. Poverty
  3. Environment (Note how the wording in the elaboration indicates that the MCC partakes of the "carbon footprint" charade)
  4. Health care
  5. Conscience protection (Again, no talk of eradicating abortion entirely)
  6. Immigration
Four of these six questions indicate alignment of the USCCB with "new world order" goals.  Thus, a pro-life candidate who prioritizes the protection of unborn children from legalized baby-slaughter could appear that he/she is in disagreement with the Church on most of the "issues" (using that term lightly) while the pro-abortion candidate could appear that he/she is in line with Church teaching.  That is because the MCC has made no attempt to illustrate how these issues do not have equal weight in the eyes of the Church or God, for that matter.

The only saving grace to this useless exercise is that the Democrats, by and large, didn't bother to partake in this farce.  Naturally, the MCC took great pains to emphasize that they do not endorse any candidate or party -despite the fact that the Democrats almost struck belief in God from their party platform in 2016.

This blog has no "tax-exempt status" to which it must bow.  Therefore, Maryland voters, I suggest that you vote straight Republican throughout your ballots.  As for the Board of Education, please get hold of one of those little "apple ballots" before the election.  Go to the sub-page for your own counties.  Note the endorsed candidates - and vote for their opponents.

We all need to get to the polls on Election Day.  No mail-ins, no early-voting (unless you're a poll worker).  Make sure your vote is as tamper-proof as possible.  Your vote counts.

Our Call To Resist Infidelity In The Vatican Is Becoming Crystal Clear

More and more, faithful Catholics are acknowledging the regrettable truth that the current occupant of the Vatican is a heretic.  My colleague at Les Femmes did quite an analysis, and we see from the videos below that others in alternative Catholic media are coming forward and stating the all-too-obvious truth.  I won't rehash what the videos or what Les Femmes stated but suggest that you take the time to peruse them and understand what is happening in your Church.

Here is the Arroyo video to which Matt made reference.

Now from LifeSiteNews..

I do remain mystified as to why no one mentions the trial balloon that Francis floated several years ago, that is, the heretical notion that the death penalty is inherently immoral.  That should have been an immense red flag.  Nevertheless, people are waking up and realizing the need to resist.  Now what, in practical terms, does it mean to resist?

There are several things to be done.
  • Frequent the Sacraments, particularly Mass and Confession.  Maintain the First Friday and First Saturday devotions.
  • With regards to Mass, try to make it to a Traditional Latin Mass.  This Mass of the Ages is in the Vatican cross-hairs precisely because it is the pinnacle of the Church's Sacred Tradition, among other things
  • Stop giving money to diocesan structures.  A portion of any such donations will make its way to USCCB coffers and their grantees.
  • Homeschool your children if at all possible.  Not even archdiocesan schools are safe from the politically correct poisons emanating from our culture.
  • Network with other like-minded Catholics.
  • Protest against any insults to the faith proffered by Catholic institutions, e.g., a pro-abortion celebrity speaking at a Catholic event.
That list is by no means exhaustive.  Ideas are welcome in the comments.

Declaration Of Filial Resistance To Francis

The Catholic Identity Conference happened in Pittsburgh last week.  Among those present were Michael Matt of Remnant TV and John-Henry Westen of LifeSiteNews.  During the conference, they, along with Eric Frankovitch who directed the CIC, gave a press conference in which they formally announced their intent to resist the current occupant of the Vatican and his obvious globalist agenda.  Here it is.

Now the question is, where do you and I stand on this matter?  It is becoming more and more clear that neutrality is not an option.

Some FSSP Commentary On The Tridentine Mass

In this video we see a Low Mass in progress.  The High Mass is quite similar.  I found this to be very helpful and informative.

Finally! A Bishop Condemns The Raid On Mark Houck's Home

This came from Bishop Joseph Strickland of the Diocese of Tyler, Texas.  So where are the others?  We know very well that had President Trump sent agents to the home of some Antifa gang leader, the progressive prelates would be screeching and howling in protest to this day.  But let their best buddy Biden send thugs to the home of someone trying to save babies' lives, and they utter nary a peep.

Hence my question posed in the previous post remains.  Are the majority of US bishops pro-abortion?  That is a serious question.

Are The Majority Of US Bishops Pro-Abortion?

That question above is not facetious.  I am quite serious when I ask that.  Consider the following.

While Mark Houck's situation continues to develop, we are learning of yet another antic by Federalized Bullies for Intimidation (FBI).  Brian Gibson, director of Pro-Life Action Ministries, revealed to LifeNews that FBI agents harassed two of his team.

Recently Michael Hichborn of the Lepanto Institute released a report revealing the overtly pro-abortion activities of Faith in Action, a recipient of CCHD grants totaling $500k.  I said "overtly" because Faith in Action is quite blatant about their support for baby-slaughter, their displeasure at the Dobbs ruling, etc.  I needn't rehash the report, but suggest that readers study it.  When I started looking at the recipients of CCHD grants, I wondered how the CCHD could be so negligent as to give Catholic money to organizations despite their pro-abortion leanings.  Now I realize that CCHD gives them money precisely because they are pro-abort.

Four years ago I chronicled the Archdiocese of Washington's weird attitude towards local grassroots pro-life activists.  The steps they took against us did much to undermine our ability to save lives at the various abortuaries within the archdiocese.  At the time I thought they were being incredibly stupid.  I no longer believe it was stupidity.  A few months ago, when the Dobbs decision nullified Roe v Wade, the reaction of Cardinal Gregory was somewhat less than jubilant.  He said a few laudatory things about it, but then segued immediately into a "seamless garment" soundbite.  He blathered on a bit about "ending divisions" more so than ending the slaughter of millions of babies every year.  News flash!  As long as evil exists in the world, division is not only inevitable.  It is absolutely necessary.  Under no circumstance can we seek unity with those who espouse such monstrous, barbaric evils.

All these things, by themselves, don't seem that indicative of much.  They do when considered in their totality.

Breaking - Dept of Justice Storm Troopers Haul Away PA Pro-Life Activist From His Home In The Wee Hours Of This Morning

Mark Houck is a pro-life activist in Pennsylvania and the founder/president of the King’s Men (see thekingsmen.org) He has been going to the Planned Parenthood mill known as the Elizabeth Blackwell Health Center in Philadelphia every Wednesday for four hours.  On October 15, 2021, Houck was there with his young son and another prayer partner.  A male deathscort, 72 years old, was there to rush women inside the mill so that their babies could be killed.

The deathscort took some time to harass the young Houck boy.  Mark repeatedly told the deathscort to stop harassing his son.  The boy walked down to a corner and the deathscort followed him.  Houck pushed the deathscort away from his boy.  At that, the deathscort pulled a dramatic flop scene then rushed into the mill.  All this was recorded by Planned Parenthood’s security cameras.  Soon thereafter Houck got served with papers.  The following winter, there were three different court dates.  For the first one, the pro-life attorney couldn’t be there.  The next date the pro-abort attorney didn’t show.  The judge then said if the pro-aborts didn’t show for the third date, that he would throw the case out.  The deathscort himself failed to show so the case was indeed thrown out.

That should have been the end of it, but the Department of Justice got involved.  They were looking for a possible FACE violation.  The video taken by Planned Parenthood showed that to be nonsensical.  Pro-life attorneys have a copy of said video.  Moreover, the attached Google-Earth picture also makes a lie of the FACE charge.  Any possible corner where the altercation took place is far enough from the mill entrance to render a FACE charge farcical on its face.

That didn’t stop the ever-intrepid feds from borrowing tactics from the Nazi Gestapo and springing into action, as it were.  On Friday, September 23, in the morning at 7:00 AM, 20-25 armed men barged into the Houck residence.  They dragged Houck out in handcuffs in front of his wife and children.  They took him to the Federal Detention Center at 6th and Market and arraigned him.  They put him in handcuffs and leg shackles.  They chained him to a table for four hours.  Afterwards they let him out on his own recognizance.

If any of this sounds vaguely familiar, it should.  Recall this post from five months ago.  Refresh your memories regarding the pro-life activists who engaged in a rescue at the DC mill of Cesare Santangelo on Oct 20, 2020.  Armed agents of the Department of Justice burst into the homes of these pro-lifers, also in the wee hours of the morning.  They too were let go after putting them through a harangue.

At the time of this writing, legal strategies are still being weighed and considered.  Obviously, this is a breaking situation so we’ll advise as is deemed best.
