The Winners Of The 2011 Moloch Awards Are....

First, what are the Moloch Awards?  They are awards given to deserving (?) individuals by the American Life League who have plumbed the depths of serving the demagogues of abortion.  Moloch was a false deity worshipped by ancient peoples.  They did so by sacrificing newborns to it.  We have way too many people today serving in blind obedience to the murderous idol.

Now the American Life League has announced the "winners" of the awards in various categories.  I need not "reinvent the wheel", as it were.  On the ALL page can be found all the "winners".  No doubt there were some tough decisions to be made, as any number of scoundrels could have taken these awards, but there's always next year, I suppose!

Komen Suspends Funding Of Planned Parenthood

Because Planned Parenthood is under Congressional investigation for illegally diverting public money to abortions, Komen is placing all its funding to Planned Parenthood in abeyance.  New Komen guidelines forbid the funding of grantees that are under governmental investigations.

Of course Planned Parenthood is in a snit over this.  Says Cecile Richards, "It’s hard to understand how an organization with whom we share a mission of saving women’s lives could have bowed to this kind of bullying.  It’s really hurtful."  My!  How the progressives like to bandy about the "bully" word when they don't get what they want!  But on another level, we can see how PP considers this "hurtful".  In 2010, Komen forked over to Planned Parenthood over $500k.  Now they won't have that money to fund the murder of children.  This is hurtful, all right - to their wallets and bank accounts!  So grab your hankies and shed a tear!  Boo-hoo!  Sniff-sniff!

Last year Planned Parenthood honchos complained that 2011 was their worst year.  I'm glad we're well underway in making succeeding years progressively worse for them - for in so doing, babies will be safer.

A Homily That Hopefully Sounded From Pulpits All Over The USA

And I don't mean just Catholic pulpits either!  What Obama and Sebelius did last week was a slap in the face to us all - and of course to the babies.  This homily was delivered today at the 11:15 mass at St John Neumann Church in Gaithersburg MD.  You should be able to download it, if you wish.  You might want to do so and burn it to some cds and circulate it.  Click HERE.

Towards the end of Mass, a letter from Cardinal Wuerl was read along the same theme.  For the sake of those living outside the Archdiocese of Washington, I link to it HERE.

I understand that many bishops have issued similar letters.  I'd be happy to link to those if readers will send me the necessary information.  If others priests issued similar statements, I'd be happy to pubicize those as well.

This administration in the White House aspires to become a dictatorial monster.  We need to stop it with all the means available to us as American citizens.  This certainly includes the November elections.

Bishops Decry HHS Mandate, Rebuke Obama And Sebelius

Here is a smattering of statements of various bishops in the wake of the tyranical display against people of faith and conscience put forth by His Nibs, the Messiah Most Miserable and Kathleen Sebelius, one of his Minions Most Mindless.

Archbishop Timothy Dolan: "You bet we got a disagreement. 'The government doesn’t have the right to butt into the internal governance and teachings of the church. It’s not about contraception. It’s about the right of conscience. This is not a Catholic issue, it’s an American issue.."

Bishop David Zubik (Pittsburgh): "Kathleen Sebelius (Health and Human Services Secretary) and through her, the Obama administration, have said ‘To Hell with You’ to the Catholic faithful of the United States.."

Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz (Lincoln, NE):  "The present secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, a bitter fallen-away Catholic, now requires that all insurance, even when issued privately, must carry coverage for evil and grave sin."

Bishop Thomas Olmsted (Phoenix, AZ): "We cannot - we will not - comply with this unjust law."

Bishop Daniel Jenky (Peora, IL) has asked Catholic institutions in his diocese to insert the Prayer to St Michael the Archangel in their Mass intercessions.

We trust there will be more statements, and commensurate actions to follow.

Maryland Gov O'Malley And Allies Begin Same-Sex Marriage Onslaught

A few days ago, Gov O'Malley introduced Senate Bill 241 "Civil Marriage Protection Act", designed to legalize so-called "gay marriage" in Maryland.  Hearings will begin in the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee this Tuesday, January 31st.

The Maryland Marriage Alliance is sponsoring a rally to be held Monday evening, Jan 30, from 6-8pm in Annapolis.  More details are on their flyer, which can be printed and circulated.  Please come.

Last year we helped stave off this marriage mutation attempt by our many phone calls, faxes and emails.  It's time to mobilize ourselves and friends to action once again.  Please contact the members of the Judicial Proceedings Committee and ask them to kill this terrible bill.  Here is a list of the committee members and it links to the pages of the members for their contact information.  Please - let's start on this immediately and encourage everyone you know to spread the word and do the same.

An important note - Governor O'Malley appears to be a main driving force behind this marriage deformation attempt.  He calls himself "Catholic".  Let us point out to our bishops that he is a prime example of why they should be obeying Canon 915.

Addendum:  Here's another good source for info on this issue and other Maryland matters - Maryland Patriots.  Here's their page on the marriage matter.  Check this page from time to time.

It's Friday!

More On Obama's Disregard Of Consciences Of Citizens

The total disregard for the citizens of good people by the imperious regime of the Messiah Most Miserable has caused even some otherwise-liberal establishments to scratch their heads.  The Washington Post, in a recent editorial, made their concerns and displeasure known.  I congratulate them and encourage them to continue their scrutiny of the one whom hitherto they placed on a pedestal.

On the other hand, Terry O'Neill, NOW president, scoffs at the idea of Catholic institutions having a conscience.  As you examine her screed carefully, she seems to think that just because the Church refuses to kiss up to the feminist agenda (is she still smarting from the recent Supreme Court ruling?), they don't have conscience.  This coming from an organization that has adopted as a main raison-d'etre the facilitation of brutal murders of babies!  If any organization is unacquainted with a corporate conscience, that would be NOW.

Not to worry, though!  We decent people consider the scorn of progressive organizations like NOW to be badges of honor.  That is why I for one feel badly for the orthodox Jews, evangelicals and others who likewise decry the violations of their consciences visited upon us by the Messiah Most Miserable and Kathleen Sebelius, a chief Minion Most Mindless.  Ms. O'Neill really should examine her ways and engage in "equal opportunity" sneering.  Why let us Catholics have all the fun?

Kudos For Bishop Vasa!

Robert Vasa, the Bishop of Santa Rosa, gave an address at a local pro-life rally this past Sunday.  I won't recap the entire thing here, but commend to your reading the LifeSite News report.

Let all the bishops proclaim that under no circumstances should a Catholic vote for a pro-abortion politician!

Of Keystone And Contraception

Several days ago, Obama put the kibbosh on the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to Texas.  It would have brought a plentiful supply of oil and gas into the country while creating thousands of jobs in the process.  Alas, it ran afoul of global-warming-hoax believers and some environmental groups.  So he bowed to the envirowhackos and turned his back (once again) on the country at large.  He and Sebelius also are moving to compel people of conscience to pay for coverage for contraception and abortifacients (see previous post).

On the surface, these two issues appear to have nothing in common - unless you ponder the likely motives of the Messiah Most Miserable.  However, consider that: in both scenarios, he is completely disregarding the legitimate interests of the majority of American citizens to satisfy radical elements of his electoral base: the global-warming envirowhackos on one hand and radical abortion supporters on the other.  Also consider the timing.  Does anyone really think it's a coincidence that he's paying obeiscance to these radical components of his base at a time so close to the November elections?  Moreover, he is scheduled to deliver the State of the Union address tomorrow evening.

You may rest assured that tomorrow's address will be not much more than poltical grand-standing.  Dare I predict that he'll spend a goodly bit of time braying about the Keystone stoppage and the HHS draconian measures?  I predict that he'll be thumping his chest about both of these acts of supreme stupidity.

Besides that, I predict the address will sound a lot like the following video - unless the Messianic Teleprompter undergoes a significant tune-up!  (Click here if you can't see embedded video)

Surprise! Obamacare Will Extort Money From Catholics To Pay For Contraceptives!

Actually, the real surprise is that anyone is surprised about this!  Yes, the Messiah Most Miserable has made plain that all insurance plans must pay for contraceptives, sterilization and abortifacients.  That includes Catholic employers.  Here's the HHS statement.  And yes, pro-abortion "katholyc" Kathleen Sebelius is a chief messianic battle-ax with regards to this draconian pronouncement.  But don't worry!  Some churches etc will have an entire year to "figure out how to violate our consciences", as Cardinal-designate Timothy Dolan so aptly stated.  He issued a video response to the mandate that is posted on the USCCB site.  This dismal state of affairs may well be on the mind of the Holy Father; read his "ad limina" address to the bishops as he comments on the deteriorating state of affairs between the Church and the White House.

Of course the NARAL and Planned Parenthood types are just as giddy as they can be about this ruling, as it gives them greater leeway to pick our pockets while they engage in the slaughter of babies.  I suppose they can now justify the campaign donations that the Messiah Most Miserable will be asking of them.  It's so convenient that this ruling is coming so close to a presidential election - but maybe it's just a coincidence!

I understand that even Sister Carol Keehan, who was so instrumental in foisting this monstrosity upon us two years ago, takes a dim view of this HHS development.  She said that they are "a missed opportunity to be clear on appropriate conscience protection.  The challenge that these regulations posed for many groups remains unresolved.  This indicates the need for an effective national conversation on the appropriate conscience protections in our pluralistic country, which has always respected the role of religions."  Sister, with all due respect, there are some things you and your buddies need to hear, and I'll start with four little words: WE TOLD YOU SO

A little aside - when Sister Carol Keehan gave the address to the Gonzaga graduating class in June 2010, we protested that because she sold us all down the river with her support of the Obama Hell Bill.  We knew precisely what she wrought on our country and church and we voiced these problems mightily.  Some obviously took issue with us.  Well now the chickens are coming home to roost!  I regret the necessity of pointing out to you that our outrage against Sister's appearance at Gonzaga is now justified in spades!  I will also say, though, that it's nice to see some signs of her waking up and smellng the proverbial coffee.  Hopefully that's not "too little too late".  Sister, if you haven't done so, I'd suggest you return the Pen of Perfidy to the Messiah Most Miserable!

I now have some questions to ask of the bishops:
  1. Will you now hold each others' feet to the fire regarding your solemn obligation to obey Canon 915?  Those among you who demure in obedience to this mandate (including our local bishop!) only give aid and comfort to those "katholyc" politicians who visit this mischief upon the Church.  In a word, will you finally deny the Eucharist to Kathleen Sebelius until she publicly repents?  This woman has much blood on her hands.
  2. As the election season draws near, will you (at last) teach the Catholic voters that issues of life and intrinsic morality are of primary importance when selecting candidates for whom to vote?   Will you proclaim that anyone who supports abortion, euthanasia, gay agendas, abuse of embryonic children are utterly unworthy of the Catholic's vote -despite any favorable stances on lesser issues?
  3. Will you dismantle or at least expel from the USCCB the "Catholic Campaign for Human Development"?  It has been shown, over and over again, that this organization, at its core and inception, is a cash-cow for individuals and organizations that work to foist the anti-life and anti-God agenda on this country.  Stop harboring this cobras' den.

Yoest-Keenan Debate On The Texas Ultrasound Bill

Last week the Fifth Circuit Court upheld the new Texas ultrasound bill that requires that a woman contemplating abortion be told what the sonograms of their babies reveal.  Abortionists already take sonograms of the babies so that they can plan the procedure and, most importantly, know how to charge the mother for the abortion.  However, many refuse to let the woman actually see the sonogram picture of her baby.  Why?  Because many, if not most women who see that picture opt against the abortion.

Well, the NARAL and Planned Parenthood types have now bunched their undies because they understand (rightly) that the number of baby-murders will drop in Texas, along with their cash intake.  Last week, Charmaine Yoest, president of Americans United for Life and Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL, appeared together on Fox News Channel to have a brief debate on the matter.  That and LifeNews' analysis is here.  However, if you cannnot see the embedded video of the debate on the LifeNews page, click here.

A few things to note about NARAL's conniption fit here:
  1. Recall that NARAL has been spearheading a campaign for the past few years to silence pro-life pregancy centers, claiming that the pro-life centers "offer misleading information".  They claim that they want the women to "have correct medical information".  In Maryland, Baltimore City and Montgomery County had their measures enacted; fortunately, the courts have stymied the measures on constitutional grounds.  So after trying to accuse pro-lifers of not providing "accurate medical information", they're having hissies over abortionists having to provide - accurate medical information?
  2. Keenan says the law "forces a woman to have an ultrasound against her will".  That's a flat-out lie.  A woman undergoing an abortion has an ultrasound taken as a routine part of the procedure.  The law merely requires that she be informed of the results of the ultrasound.  Throughout the debate, she repeats that line like a mantra.  That's all she apparently can think to say - and it's a lie to boot.
  3. NARAL's antipathy to ultrasounds is understandable.  One of their founders was the late Dr Bernard Nathanson.  While he was in their camp, he was responsible for thousands of abortions, and helped the pro-abortion crowd come up with the slogan "pro-choice".  However, all that happened before the advent of ultrasound machines.  When Nathanson saw some ultrasounds, and one of an abortion in progress, he became convinced of the humanity of the unborn baby.  He did a 180-degree turnaround and became a staunch pro-life advocate (and a convert to Catholicism).

A Follow-Up To My Comments On Msgr Pope's Blog

Last weekend I commented about Msgr Pope's blog piece that seemed to indicate that good Catholics should maintain a polite silence about abusive behavior of clerics out of a misguided sense of obedience and/or unity.  Yesterday's Vortex actually touched on this a bit albeit without specific reference to Msgr Pope's piece (and most likely he had no intention of referring to the Pope piece)

The Vortex in question is the fourth in a series regarding Catholic manhood.  The relevant snippet occurs at the 4:55 mark, so you might want to stop the video there and study closely the words of St John Chrysothom that appear on the screen - the ones that start with "the person who does not become irate when he has cause to be sins.."

Too many good Catholics seem to think that anger itself is a sin.  Actually it's a God-given emotion, just like all the others.  Now it must be controlled - just like all the others, but it should never be dismissed or held in disdain, for that itself is a sinful abuse.   Click here if you cannot see embedded video.

Pro-Abortion Violence Rears Its Ugly Head

No, I'm not talking about some boyfriend slugging his girlfriend for not murdering their child (although that happens with frightening frequency).  I'm talking of the rogue judge in Massachusetts who ruled that a woman who is mentally ill (pseudonum "Mary Moe") could and should be forced to abort her baby.  So much for "a woman's right to choose"!  Moe is 32 years old and has had an abortion that she deeply regrets and may well be the cause of her mental/emotional problems.

A court-appointed specialist actually agreed that the abortion would not be in Moe's best interest.  But that didn't stop Judge Christina Harms from ruling that Moe could be "coaxed, bribed or even enticed by ruse" until she was sedated for the procedure.  She also said that Moe's opposition to the abortion stemmed from her "substantial delusional beliefs".  Those beliefs, ladies and gentlemen, are simply her Catholic awareness of the evil nature of abortion.  Harms was clearly showing her murderous bigotry against Catholicism and life (I know this is just a fluke - but did anyone notice the judge's name is "Harms"?)  Harms also argued for the forced sterilzation of Moe.  Does this sound like something out of one of those old movies about Nazi Germany?  Well, it's rearing its ugly head here!

Fortunately, an appellate court threw out the ruling.  Judge Andrew Grainger correctly noted that Harms disregarded a 1982 state Supreme Court ruling allowing the right to procreate (even that is dangerous, as the state does not allow any right like that.  Only God does - the state can't take it away.  But I digress.)

The liberal/progessive cartel is anything but "pro-choice".  In this instance, we saw them drop their "choice" facade for a few moments and saw the murderous progressive mindset for what it really is.  Ladies and gentlemen, wake up!

Planned Parenthood's African Strategy!

Remember how all the so-called "pro-choice" crowd were knotting their knickers trying to convince us that they wanted to make abortion "safe, legal and rare"?  Why, just five years ago, the Alan Guttmacher Institute (research arm of Planned Parenthood), in their Guttmacher Policy Review of Winter 2006,  published an article along those very lines - it's their lead article in fact.  If you look on the first page, second column, the bottom of the first paragraph says "it is suggested abortion can be reduced by 95%..."

Given that, we all will be pleased to note that such lofty ideals are being implemented!  For instance, let's take a look at the IPPF-Africa Region's Strategic Plan for the years 2010-2015.  On page 7, we see some lovely little charts!  From the left, look at the third bubble down, second one toward the center.  See how it says that Planned Parenthood anticipates an 82% decrease in abortions?  Yippee!  Oh, joy!  It sounds like Planned Parenthood really is living up to that laudible goal of reducing abortions.... Uh, wait a minute!   Is it ever so possible that I misread that report?  My bad!  It looks like "decrease" is really "increase"!  How very peculiar!  How does an "82% increase in abortion services" make abortion "rare"?

If you detected a note of sarcasm when I waxed lyrical about the "decrease", you are quite correct.  The Guttmacher 2006 piece was nothing more than damage-control gobblygoop.  Planned Parenthood was simply being a bit more up-front in their 2010-2015 strategy.  Abby Johnson, former director of a Planned Parenthood abortion mill in Texas, revealed in her book "Unplanned" that the PP higher-ups had always pushed for increases in abortions, as that brought in the most money (a goodly portion of that money coming from our tax dollars).

It's rather interesting that we're seeing Planned Parenthood tip their hands in their strategy for Africa.  Margaret Sanger, foundress of Planned Parenthood, was an avowed racist and eugenics promoter.  Her motto was "more children from the fit, less from the unfit".  While Planned Parenthood has done little towards implementing the first part of that motto, they certainly do take seriously the second part.  Why, just take a look at the cover of the 2010-2015 report.  The mother, with babe in arms, is being given a fistfull of condoms.  I suppose it hasn't dawned on the Planned Parenthood personnel to give moms like that some baby formula or diapers.  What are they saying about their priorities here?  When they talk about "rare", what they want "rare" is babies!  Make no mistake about that!

Oh, by the way.  Should either of those reports "disappear", please advise and I will make them "reappear".  I did save them to my hard drive; you may wish to do the same.

Masculinity And The Catholic Church

The Vortex is running a series this week on Masculinity and the Catholic Church.  One of the installments is below (click here if you cannot see embedded video).  If you go to their Youtube channel, you'll see the whole series.

I've just one caveat.  The first video is labled "Why Men Don't Go To Mass".  While I can see how insipid liturgies would be a turn-off, the nonsense in those liturgies would not excuse the mortal sin against the Third Commandment inherent in the refusal to go to Mass.  I'd like to point out that masculine sensibilities are not the only ones offended by "barney masses", priests bringing their dogs with them to the altar, etc.  So here's my challenge to such fellows:  "Hey!  So you find the Mass a little too frilly and silly?  Well, so what??  Don't just sit there, whine and refuse to go - because that is mortal sin that will lead to your eternal damnation if you don't wise up and grow up!  Do something constructive about the situation - but make sure you go to Mass whether you feel like it or not.  In a word, man up and stop acting like petulant toddlers!  And yes, put on a suit and tie when you go!"

Blasphemy At The Super Bowl

To all who are all atwitter about the truth of abortion being shown during the Super Bowl by Randall Terry, are you at least equally outraged about the planned "entertainment" during the half-time show?  It was announced today that the NFL has retained Madonna for the half-time show.  Born a Catholic, she quite often uses her performances to blaspheme the faith of her birth with numbers such as "Like A Virgin" and "Immaculate Collection".  I've no doubt that she'll attempt to outdo Janet Jackson's "clothing malfunction" during the latter's Super Bowl debacle.

I suspect many who are whining and snivveling about Terry's ads being "too graphic" are really quite indifferent to the debauchery that regularly oozes from that very troubled woman - that is, if they don't positively welcome it.  Yet it's people such as Madonna and the attitudes they espouse towards sexuality that contribute to the culture of death, resulting in the brutal murders of over 3000 babies every day.

Here's another tidbit to consider.  Some of the baby-killer ply their evil deeds on Sunday.  That means that while some folks are in "veg-out" mode in front of their idiot-boxes, babies are being slaughtered.  Will anyone give a damn?  Mr Terry will attempt to rouse folks from their stupors - while Madonna and her ilk will only attempt to deaden brains and consciences further.

Msgr Pope's Piece On Catholics Who Raise Their Voices

Msgr Charles Pope of Washington DC recently wrote on his blog (hosted by the Archdiocese of Washington) a piece called "Is Being A Bishop Like Herding Cats?  It Shouldn't Be".  I urge all to read it, along with the comments.  In that piece, he laments what he calls a "dismissive attitude" towards the bishops, something that he calls "a common attitude among many theological and ecclesial conservatives as well."  Unfortunately, Msgr speaks too much in generalities; without specific examples, it's difficult to discern the impetus behind his comments.

Note: this piece is a long read, so..

Mother Teresa At The 1994 Prayer Breakfast

I remember watching the video of this.  The Clintons and the Gores were in attendance.  When Mother Teresa pronounced her words (at the 14:37 mark), "I think the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion," they stared in stoney silence.  No wonder, as she told them - straightforward - that they were advocating not only the murders of babies, but the destruction of any basis for peace and justice.  Would that the bishops and clergy of today had the clarity and fortitude of this woman (some do, but their numbers are way too few at this time).  Click here if you cannot see embedded video.

The Malice Beneath The Gobblygoop

Yesterday I wrote about the mush emanating from the Director of Peace and Justice Commission of the Diocese of Salt Lake City.  It turns out that the "mush" has some sinister underpinnings.

The director's name is Jean Hill.  From Lifesite News we read that in 2008 she ran on the Democratic ticket for Utah Attorney General and for the State House in 1996.  In her campaigns, she called for contraceptive sex education and against bans on abortion and gay marriage.  It's no surprise that she was backed by Planned Parenthood and Equality Utah.

The Lifesite News piece gives contact information for the Salt Lake City bishop.  With anti-life stances such as the ones she espouses, Hill doesn't know the first principles of true peace and justice - which are adherence to the Magisterium in opposing the intrinsic evils of abortion and homosexuality.  For her own sake and the sake of those whom she may lead astray, she needs to be removed from that position immediately.  Indeed, she herself may be in need of the medicinal application of Canon 915.

Vortex On Catholic Voting

Another Chancery Offers Gobblygoop To Catholic Voters

This fluffy-puff piece comes from the Chancery of the Diocese of Salt Lake City.  Notice that it comes from their Director of the "Peace and Justice" Commission.  Right there that should give a warning of what is to come - and this piece lives down up to that warning.

On the surface, it looks like it says absolutely nothing and that this is just a waste of bandwidth and disk space on which to keep it.  However, it's a tad more insidious than that.  You'll notice that it's rife with the "seamless garment" fallacy, lumping the lives of the babies with "energy policy" and "food stamps".  It implies that the bishops don't place a heavy premium on the life issues, when in fact the bishops most certainly do place the life issues above the other matters.

This piece is a disservice to Catholics and all of good will.

Update On Holy Redeemer College Park Scheduled Debacle

Yesterday I wrote of Father Wilkinson's efforts (?!?!?!) to better "understand the gay community's concerns" over the Church's opposition to the mutilation of marriage that some in Annapolis want to inflict.  I just received this attached letter.  Father is not holding an open meeting but will participate in "personal meetings".

Of course the real overriding concern is that those who are engaging in gay relationships are on paths that are certainly harmful to their immortal souls.  Indeed, if they die unrepentant of those mortal sins, they will likely endure the torments of hell for all eternity.  Will that crucial matter be a topic of discussion in those "personal meetings"?  I really don't think so.  However, perhaps I'm wrong, and Father will use those sessions to preach truth and offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Miracles do happen!

Pandering To Gays At PG County Parish

A few days ago, I posted about the sorry mess that Cardinal George created with his implication that the teaching of Jesus Christ regarding the mortal sin of homosexual behavior was open to question.  Today I was given a copy of a letter written by Father George Wilkinson, pastor of Holy Redeemer Church in College Park, MD.  It is addressed to the parish at large and touches on the Church's opposition to gay "marriage".  You can read it here.  Written on December 28th, it predates Cardinal George's gaffe, but you'll see many of the same lamentable traits.

ADL - "Don't Vote Your Religion - Unless We Approve!"

Did they really say that?  Well, here's their press release.  Note their condescending quote: "religious appeals to voters are simply unacceptable and un-American"  Well this American says that such appeals are completely acceptable.  Who appointed the ADL as arbitor of what I must consider "unacceptable"?   They go on to say that we should judge the candidates based on their integrity.  As far as I'm concerned, a candidate's religion (or lack thereof) is part and parcel of their integrity.  Religious adherence is not an immutable charactieristic, as is ethnicity, physical size, etc.  People choose their religious affiliations and their practices; those choices say volumes about who they are as people and how they'll conduct themselves in public office.

Does that make me a bigot?  Well let me illustrate with an example.  In the year 2000, in Maryland's 8th Congressional District, Connie Morella was opposed by Democrat Terry Lierman.  Both were pro-abortion Catholics.  Seeking access to the ballot as a third candidate was Brian Saunders - a pro-life Jew affiliated with the Constitution Party.  I and several others worked very hard to secure him access to the ballot (via petition signatures).  We succeeded in doing so.  Unfortunately in Montgomery County the GOP was (still is) dominated by RINOs and Morella won the general election.  A candidate's avowal of Catholicism will not automatically win my vote by a long shot.

Today's Vortex does a great job in exposing the hypocrisy of the ADL and other progressives (and the Detroit archdiocese is trying to submarine him?).  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Planned Parenthood Execs Get Paid Top Dollars!

Remember how the Messiah Most Miserable, during the budget fights of several months ago, made plain that he'd shut the government down rather than cut taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood?  What a guy!

American Life League has compiled a report showing your tax dollars - hard(ly) at work!  Take a peek

Jill Stanek has a list of some of their earnings (swindlings might be a better word).  I agree that it looks like a lot of those execs are in the "1%".  You remember that, don't you?  The Occupy Wall Street crowd brayed proudly how they were the "99%" and made their displeasure known to the rest of us.  Well, where are they now?  I'd suggest they high-tail it to their nearest Planned Parenthood center and protest to that "1%" who are living high on the hog with all our tax dollars!  At least they'd be doing some good for a change.

The Vortex Responds To The Archdiocese Of Detroit

I've written before on the scheme of some bureaucrats within the Detroit Archdiocese to force Real Catholic TV to change its name.  Today's Vortex addresses the matter further.  The Lifesite news article that Voris mentions can be found here.  As you read it, note the comments - including some information on the employment of one of the canon lawyers who has spoken out on the matter.

Cardinal George Apologizes - And Bungles Big-Time

Cardinal George of Chicago, a few weeks ago made a comparison between the gay rights movement and the Ku Klux Klan.  The quote was "You know, you don't want the gay liberation movement to morph into something like the Ku Klux Klan, demonstrating in the streets against Catholicism."  The remark was made in the context of concern over the planning of next summer's gay parade, which had been scheduled to be in front of a local Church on Sunday morning.  Perhaps he had in mind the December 1989 incident at St Patrick's Cathedral in New York when gay protesters disrupted a Mass celebratd by Cardinal O'Connor, chaining themselves to pews, shouting and flinging condoms about.  (Read about the incident here, and scroll to the "legacy" section).

Yesterday the cardinal issued an apology for those remarks.  We'll leave aside for the moment the obvious calcium deficiency in his spinal column, for what he said next was truly breathtaking for the disregard for Church teaching displayed.  He said (and be sitting down for this!), "The question is, 'Does respect mean that we have to change our teaching?' That's an ongoing discussion, of course. … I still go back to the fact that these are people we know and love and are part of our families. That's the most important point right now."

"Ongoing discussion"?!?!?!!   Really!?!??!!?   Seriously!?!?!?!   Ladies and gentlemen, this is a prince of the Church stating that the teaching of the Magisterium on homosexuality is subject to "ongoing discussion".    Could it be that the local power bosses leaned on him and applied the "Chicago way" to him (like they probably did with the Pfleger and CCHD situations)?

Cardinal George, act as the bishop that you are, and tell those practicing the gay lifestyle that what they do is mortally sinful and that the teaching of Jesus Christ as transmitted through the Magisterium is not fodder for "ongoing disussion".  If the hacks of Chicago politics start sending you dead fish, it's just as well for Lent will soon be upon us.  Remember the words of your brother Cardinal during that disgusting display of gay gestapo tactics: "I must preach what the Church preaches, teach what the Church teaches."

The Lie Of "Pro-Choice" - Coerced Abortions

The dishonesty and lack of integrity of the pro-abortion crowd is made strikingly plain in this incident.  In Corpus Christi, Texas, a 14-year-old girl who is pregnant is struggling to prevent the abortion that her family wants to foist upon her.  Only the Texas Center for Defense of Life has come to her assistance.  So far they have managed to stave off the abortion monster.

So where is the "pro-choice" crowd now?  Where are those femiists who should be shouting on her behalf, "her body, her choice"?  I haven't heard of any such doings, either!  Doesn't the "right to choose" also mean the right to choose not to have an abortion?  If not, there isn't much choice, is there?

This isn't the first such incident to make news.  There are many more.  I see quite a few of them, I believe, in front of the abortion mill on Saturday mornings.  More than once I've seen adamant parents drag their daughters into the mill - or it might be a boyfriend who just wants to get rid of "the problem", despite the tears falling from the young woman's face.  A few women have courageously stood up to the bullies and have paid the ultimate price for so doing.  So where, oh where, are all the so-called champions of women to speak up for them?

By and large, those so-called "advocates" are shown to be the phonies that they are.  The pro-life folks on the sidewalks are often the only voices that these women have (along with other good people in the pregnancy centers and the pro-life law firms such as TCDF mentioned above).

By the way - if you or anyone you know is being coerced into abortion, watch below (click here if you cannot see embedded video)

Bishop Gambino Zavala Admits Paternity Of Two Teenagers, Resigns His Post

Much has been written on this blog about Bishop Gambino Zavala, former auxiliary bishop of Los Angeles.  We know he's a former president of both Pax Christi and Interfaith Worker Justice.  He's presided at  the "closing liturgies" of the 2010 religious education conferences in Los Angeles - "liturgies" that are more accurately called farcical circuses.  And yes, he's whined about us bloggers who shine the light on progressive shenanigans within the Church.

I emphasized the word "former" in the previous paragraph for Zavala's resignation from his post has been announced - for cause.  He has disclosed that he fathered two children who are now teenagers.  They live in another state with their mother.  Let our prayers be with them.

There is a phrase "lex orandi lex credendi lex vivendi".  The (loose) translation from Latin yields "the law of prayer is the law of belief; the law of belief is the law of life".  Bishop Zavala's sad story is testimony to the truth of that Latin phrase.

Pray for him.  Also pray for Archbishop Gomez who has a bit of a mess to clean up in Mahoney's wake.

The Iowa Caucus Results - And Some Maryland News

Most by now have heard the results of yesterday's Iowa caucus.  Romney was favored to win and indeed he did - but only by 8 votes.  Rick Santorum virtually tied that vote - no small feat for one considered to be quite the underdog coming into the caucus.  Following behind them were Paul, Gingrich, Perry, Bachman and Huntsman (in that descending order).

I understand that Michele Bachman suspended her campaign.  In her remarks, she urged unity behind the eventual GOP nominee to defeat the Obama Hell Bill (my term, not hers).  I have the utmost respect for that lady.

Now I'll preface these next few statements by reminding one and all that this blog is NOT a "501c-anything".  That means I can voice all sorts of endorsements without running afoul of Infernal Robbery Syndicate.

At this time, I am voicing support for Rick Santorum.  For a handy checklist of the candidates' positions on key life/moral issues, you may visit this guide produced by the Family Research Council.  I strongly suspect that many of Bachman's supporters will drift towards Santorum.  I find the other candidates, for their own reasons, to be inferior to Santorum.

NOW FOR THE MARYLAND NEWS

It has come to my attention that State Senator Nancy Jacobs is running for US Congress.  She has her sights set on the seat currently held by pro-abortion Dutch Ruppersberger in Maryland's 2nd Congressional District (east of Baltimore, snaking from Harford County down to Glen Burnie and Severn).  She is slated to make her official announcement tomorrow, Jan 5th, 11:00am at Jad's Caddy Shack in Essex, MD.  She's solidly pro-life and deserves our support.

Doctors Wanted To Abort Him

His parents rightly regarded that suggestion as an unthinkable horror!  I can only hope that those doctors had a "wake-up call" after watching Isaac grow.
