Pope Leo Et Al - Working For Deconstruction Of The Faith

Okie-dokie!  Let's see what we got here!

About three years ago, dissident Jesuit Father Thomas Reese disavowed belief in Transubstantiation.  Thanks to Novus Ordo Watch who reported this.  We can add this to his already-impressive list of heretical beliefs and behaviors.

This past April, the pope conferred with an Anglican bishop-wannabee woman.  The Vatican News outlet called her "Right Honourable Dame Sarah Mullally".  Again, this is a Vatican news outlet calling her that, and they did not put that in quotes.  She was in full costume.  I won't go into the topics of their gabfest.  Suffice it to say that the pope called her "bishop" but had a fit over the SSPX ordaining bishops.  I didn't hear the pope renewing any excommunication proclamation for her!

LifeSiteNews reminded us that Bishop Michael Sis, who warned Catholics not to attend SSPX masses and who falsely stated that SSPX weddings and confessions are invalid, attended in "interfaith" Hanukkah ceremony in 2023.  That is a sin against the First Commandment.  I believe he still retains his see.  Odd how that works!

The abuses pile on.  In Austria, two priests decided to commemorate their 30 years in the priesthood by attempting to consecrate flatbread on the floor.in a school.  The rubrics are quite clear that the host must be unleavened and made entirely of wheat.  Because the matter was invalid, the bread was not consecrated and thus Our Lord did not become sacramentally present.  We can be grateful that there was no Blessed Sacrament and thus no insult, although blasphemy abounded.  We don't know if the priests have received any discipline that is more substantial than a rap on the knuckles, and don't know if they received even that.  This same link tells of a Muslim funeral rite in a Catholic Church, in addition to a Buddhist birthday celebration in another.  Were those parish priests disciplined?  Should we even bother to ask?

On June 27, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles allowed an Aztec war dance to take place during a Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.  This LifeSiteNews link has video that depicts this idolatrous sacrilege.

I could go on and on, as the insults to the Faith are increasing exponentially.  I will mention one last one.  Pope Leo appointed a bishop to the Diocese of Chifeng in Mongolia in accordance with the agreement between the Vatican and Red China.  In plain English, the dictators of Red China put forth their chosen candidate, and Pope Leo rubber-stamped him to the see.

Do you appreciate the hypocrisy displayed by that Chinese matter?  The SSPX, seeking to preserve their order and the Tradition of the Church, petitioned the Vatican for months to address their concerns and allow them a mandate to ordain those men.  Pope Leo et al not only stiff-armed them, but pronounced them excommunicated (canonical laws were violated, but that is another discussion).  On the other hand, Red China, overt haters of the Faith, put forth their candidate and he is immediately approved by the pope..

On the surface, that doesn't appear to make sense.  It does, though, if the reader finally accepts some very unpleasant but also very obvious truths.  All these aberrations have the same end - the destruction of the Faith and absolute disdain for Our Lord.

Are we going to let this happen?

The Vatican Celebrates Gay-Enablers While Threatening SSPX With Excommunication

On July 1, the Society of St Pius X (SSPX) will ordain four bishops, to take their place among the current bishops who are aging.  Pope Leo, a few days ago, warned them against the ordination, stating that they risk being in schism.  Last month I wrote about excommunication and declarations of schism, and still wonder to whom those penalties would actually apply.

One who was unjustly and most likely improperly declared excommunicated is Archbishop Vigano.  He recently made public a letter that he wore to the pope.  One impetus behind this release is that he had made an appointment to discuss serious matters with the pope.  The pope canceled the meeting.  Thus he wrote the letter denouncing his excommunication as improperly done and thus null and voice, and declared that he was not in schism.  Read for yourselves.  

In my neck of the woods, word has it that Cardinal McElroy has banned the construction of new communion rails and the restoration of those communion rails that had been removed.  He also is reportedly discouraging the use of temporary kneelers.  Does that mean the prie-dieu as well?

More troubling, however, is that McElroy is supporting the perversion-promoting cleric Father James Martin's Outreach Conference that is happening now at Georgetown University.  Not only did he write a glowing letter (see for yourselves), he also spoke at the pervert gab-fest.  I would be pleasantly shocked if he took the opportunity to call the attendees to repentance for promoting and/or committing homosexual perversions, but I realistically harbor no such hope.  Dare I say that after that slop that he sent them, that he should require such penance himself?

By the way - the faithful and intrepid young men of the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property were on hand at Georgetown to perform various Works of Mercy in the face of the blasphemy and sacrilege that this Outreach conference foisted on Georgetown.  A video will appear below the jump break.

Now let's get back to the situation at hand with the SSPX.  I am also posting a video from Anthony Stine of Return to Tradition who is dealing with this topic.  Note from the video a few things:

• There seems to be some scuttlebutt that not only will the pope excommunicate the bishops of the SSPX, but also the priests, deacons, sub-deacons and seminarians, as well as other religious (such as sisters) who are affiliated in any way with the SSPX.  Will he next put the laity who attend SSPX Masses into his cross-hairs?
• Stine cites canon law that stipulates that excommunication cannot occur for the ordination of the SSPX bishops.  They have no desire to separate from Rome and sincerely believe that the Church is in a state of emergency.  With prelates seeking to obliterate piety from Holy Mass and actively aiding and abetting the mortal sin of homosexual conduct, who can honestly doubt the emergency that truly does exist?
• Some traditional Catholics state that the SSPX is wrong to decline Cardinal Fernandez's offer for "dialog".  Perhaps they aren't aware of the strings that Fernandez attached: no consecration, and the doctrinal issues are off the table.  Oh, by the say, this Fernandez is Kissy-Face.

Footnote Footsies - In Unitate Fidei's Pinch Of Poison

The body of Unitate Fidei reads as an apologetics exercise for religious indifferentism.  In it, Leo opines, "we must therefore leave behind theological controversies that have lost their raison d'etre in order to develop a common understanding and even more, a common prayer to the Holy Spirit, that He may gather us all together in one faith and one love".  It truly is wondrous how so much error can be crammed into one sentence.  Time does not permit me to unpack this mess completely.

Now go to UT's footnote 10.   It states that the phrase "and proceeds from the Father and Son (filioque) is not found in the text of Constantinople; it was inserted into the Latin Creed by Pope Benedict VIII in 1014 and is the subject of Orthodox-Catholic dialogue."  Italics mine.

Now why, oh why, is it the subject of all this "dialogue"?  The Council of Trent, held in the late 1500s and presided by Pope St Pius V, set the filioque in stone.  Recall please, that unlike Vatican II, Trent was a dogmatic council, convened with the express purpose of correcting various Protestant heresies.  A decree from the third session of that council was issued February 4, 1546.  It set forth, word for word, the creed recited at all Catholic Masses today, both Traditional Latin and Novus Ordo.  "Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son" is very plainly stated.

After the Council of Trent, St Pius V was quite solicitous to put the proceedings of the council into a format that could be taught to the Catholics in the pews at the time.  He, assisted by St. Charles Borromeo and perhaps others, developed a set of instructions to his priests on how to communicate these truths of the Faith.  It is known as the Catechism of the Council of Trent, and is readily available from TAN books.

Part 1 of this Catechism focuses on the Creed, that is, the Nicene Creed as amended by Pope Benedict VIII.  We proceed to Article VIII that deals with the Holy Ghost, and what the true doctrine states about Him.  There is a paragraph entitled "Who Proceedeth from the Father and the Son."  It says, and I quote, "with regard to the words immediately succeeding: who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, the faithful are to be taught that the Holy Ghost proceeds by an eternal procession from the Father and the Son, as from one principle."

So, despite his best efforts to the contrary, Pope Leo did get one thing right.  There is no need for controversy.  The Council of Trent settled the matter once and for all.  The Holy Ghost proceeds from both the Father and the Son.  Period.  No need for a bunch of dialogue.  And please - oh, please! - let there not be a whole slew of endless "synods" on the matter!  

It does behoove us to reiterate a few facts about "unity".  Unity is only good if it is founded on common assent to truth and Godliness.  Sometimes unity can serve evil and as such, is not at all to be desired.  Can any serious student of history gainsay that Nazi Germany, in the late 1930s, was unified?  They most certainly were, but that unity was based on evil.  Someone pointed this out to me: "It is better to be divided over the truth than united in a lie."  That latter kind of unity for which the pope is calling, unity brought about by allowing false notions of the nature of the Blessed Trinity, is false and dangerous, for it allows for the promulgation of error that could lead to the damnation of souls.

I understand that Pope Leo was not the first to eliminate the "filioque" while reciting a creed with Orthodox clergy.  Even Pope Benedict XVI scuttled truth for momentary convenience; for shame!  Before there is any more talk of "unity" and "ecumenism", Catholics must be absolutely committed to the Truths that Our Lord has revealed, understanding that these truths are not bargaining chips to be sacrificed to the false idol of "unity".

Pope Leo XIV Breaks The Record For How Many Errors Can Be Crammed Into One Statement

Several weeks ago, Cardinal Blaise Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago, announced his intentions to bestow upon pro-abortion and pro-gay U.S. Senator Dick Durbin a "lifetime achievement award" for his support of - you guessed it! - illegal immigrants crashing through our southern borders.  This award was supposed to have been bestowed in November  

Immediately Bishop Paprocki and Archbishop Cordileone urged Cupich to cancel that award.  Other bishops soon followed in their condemnation of that award.  In the words of Complicit Clergy, Cupich told them to "pound sand".  Of course Cupich holds the slaughter of babies to be of little importance.  Recall that as Bishop of Spokane, Cupich forbade his priests from participating in the local 40 Days for Life efforts in his diocese.

Pope Leo was asked about this Cupich-Durbin scandal.  He responded by adding his own verbal manure to the pile.  Not only does he trot out the "seamless garmet" tripe, but also slanders faithful Catholics and good pro-life people in the process.  Please watch below the jump-break.

I've Heard Of Soul On Ice - But This Is Ridiculous!

Remember when Earth First put this farce before us almost twenty years ago?

At that point, I thought nothing could get more silly with these envirowhackos.  Once again, I am reminded how they can plunge to greater depths of inanity and mental vacuity.  In the name of "climate change, Pope Leo XIV blessed an oversized ice block!  This was done at some "raising hope for climate justice" gabfest at Castel Gandolfo.  Apparently the water is supposed to bless and heal us as it melts, dribbles all over the place and makes a soggy mess.  After all, creation awaits our conversion, you know.  Well, how about converting to the One True Faith and to make it our mission to get to heaven?  A quick review of the Baltimore Catechism should clear up any questions on that point.

After the pope was finished, a long blue cloth was passed through the audience and participants flapped and waved it as a hymn was sung, honoring...(wait for it!) Laudato Si!  What else?  I read several posts about this embarrassment to the Catholic faith, and one sage individual said that this blessed-ice-block business was quite reminiscent  of the pachamama debacle in the Vatican gardens.  Truly it was a gross display of idolatrous virtue-signaling, but I'm at a loss to determine what virtue was signaled.  

During that same gabfest, Leo went on to criticize common-sense people as those who have "chosen to deride the increasingly evident signs of global warming..."  Well, count me as one of them.  When ice cubes are "blessed" and people sing about "climate change", that makes evident that for too many in the Church, apparently including this pope, that environmentalism is becoming a de facto religion.  This is idolatry, sin against the First Commandment, just as was the pachamama in the Vatican gardens and even in St Peter's Basilica.

By the way, how did the participants travel to this "raising hope" farce?  How many private jets flew in for this thing?  I'm sure they didn't come by horses or sail boats!

Catholic Standard Articles Reveal True Thrust Of The Current Pope.

Today I picked up the July 17th issue of the Catholic Standard (the official mouthpiece for the Archdiocese of Washington).  While disappointed at the amount of bilge that was contained therein, I was not surprised.

Let's go in order as the stuff appeared in the print edition.  On page 3 was the account of Cardinal McElroy receiving a pallium from Pope Leo XIV.  The online article is here.  Most of the article was a rehash of a homily that Leo gave on the occasion.  Some bloopers popped up.  He spoke of moving "beyond a tired and stagnant faith".  If he truly is serious about such movement, one key thing he could do is stop the insidious attempts to quash the Traditional Latin Mass.  I attend these regularly on Sundays.  The faith there can in no way be called "tired and stagnant".  Then towards the end, he spoke of the beatitudes as being equivalent to the goals of today's "social justice warriors".  No where did he mention that the beatitudes spoke of the repentance from sin and pursuit of personal holiness.

We then turn a few pages and see two articles that are basically screeds that shill for those border-crashers euphemistically called "undocumented immigrants".  They are found here and here.  The first is an interview with Cardinal McElroy while the second is penned by Auxiliary Bishop Menjivar.  Both articles share the same flaw, and I think this flaw has been repeated so often that, owing to its repetition, is actually a blatant sin against honesty.  I am talking, of course of the disingenuous refusal to differentiate immigrants who come here in accordance with our immigration laws versus those who deliberately violate our laws by sneaking across the border, coming under false pretenses, overstaying visas, etc.  All of us welcome those who arrive in accordance with our laws.  Decent people object to those who flout our laws, and lately, with the complicity of progressives, including those in the US Catholic hierarchy, are coming in by the thousands.  Hitherto, Catholic Charities have received millions in federal grants to "process" thousands of these people, many of whom are being sex-trafficked across the border.

I noticed towards the end of the interview article, McElroy couldn't help but put in a plug for one of his pet divergences from Sacred Tradition.  He of course shilled for "women deacons".  Bishop Menjivar, on the other hand, actually stated our case for us, albeit unwittingly.  The whole article is lacking in wit, but I digress.  Here is what he said, and you can read it for yourselves in the link provided.

"That’s right. From the very beginning of the United States, this country was pro-immigration; and one of the main complaints of the Founders was the English government forbidding the colonies from passing laws promoting migration and naturalization of people from countries other than England."

England disregarded our right to pass laws regarding immigration, rendering existing ones moot in practice.  Those crashing our borders are doing the exact same thing in disregarding our laws and our right to regulate immigration.  I might add that the moral guilt lies not only with the border-crashers,  but with people such as McElroy and Menjivar who hold our laws, and our law-keepers, in contempt.

But enough with immigration, for social justice has many facets.  In this same issue, we read that Pope Leo is praying for the "conversion" of certain people.  Who might be these people?  Are they those who embrace homosexuality and other perversions?  Are they those who facilitate the baby-slaughter known as abortion?  Nope!  Well then, just who are these depraved degenerates who stand in need of all this "conversion"?  Why, these are dastardly fiends who (I can scarcely bring myself to mention these horrid, scandalous words!) resist climate action!  Read it here!  

On Monday July 9, Leo celebrated a Mass "for the care of creation".  Yes, it is a new Mass that has been added to the Roman Missal.  Of course natural disasters are lamented for they supposedly "are in part created by the excesses of human beings with their lifestyle".  In other words, people are the big meanies who need to undergo the requisite guilt trips.  Most troubling, though, is this echo from Laudato Si: "we listen to the cry of the earth, we listen to the cry of the poor".  In other words, the planet is being made equal to human beings.  That is heresy.  We cannot assent to that under any circumstance.  We cannot say "amen" to any prayer containing that error, even if a pope were to put forth that prayer.  I did several posts in the past regarding the problem in which this pope seeks to embroil us.  Please read.   When Francis died and Leo was elected, I had hopes that there would be fidelity to Tradition again.  Those hopes are growing dim and once again, we must resist papal errors.

Update On The Charlotte Situation

In a word, cockroaches hate the light.  Anyone who tells you to be quiet about these matters and "just pray" is most likely being a mouthpiece of the devil, even if unwittingly.

We will keep on shining the light on them and exposing them.  Of course we must always be praying for our Church, particularly by being faithful to the Sacraments and the daily Rosary.

Habemus Papam

Today white smoke billowed from the chimney of the conclave, signaling the election of a new pope.  Shortly thereafter, Cardinal Robert Prevost was presented as Pope Leo XIV.  He is the first Augustinian and US native to be elected to the pontificate.

Prior to this, he was prefect for the Dicastery for Bishops.  That is to say he wielded great influence regarding the appointment of bishops.  Regrettably, he also played a key role in the removal of Bishop Joseph Strickland from the diocese of Tyler, TX.   He has made known his affinity to progressive causes such as the climate-change hoax, sympathy for George Floyd and unbridled border-crashing.

While this is troubling, it is not surprising.  Francis stacked the College of Cardinals.  Leo is said to have been highly favored by both Cardinal Cupich and Father James Martin.  On the positive side, when Leo stepped onto the balcony, he was dressed as a pope, unlike his immediate predecessor twelve years ago.  I for one am wary.

Cardinal Muller, a fairly solid prelate, warned that the election of a pope who didn't hold to tradition might well cause a schism.  If that comes to pass, it will be the infidelity to tradition that will be the cause of schism, for faithful Catholics must adhere to the Church's timeless teachings and Traditions, even if a reigning pontiff isn't.

Our Rosaries and prayers for Holy Mother Church must continue and increase.
