More On Burke-Wuerl Switch

Last week Cardinal Burke was in the country and gave an interview to EWTN's Raymond Arroyo.  I commented on that and posted the video.  At that time I did not know that he had been effectively replaced on the Congregation for Bishops by Cardinal Wuerl (see here).  I can only wonder if Cardinal Burke was aware at the time of his interview.  Cardinal Burke clearly spoke truth to power, as much as a Vatican official can.

George Neumayr penned a piece called "Reaping the Wuerl Wind" that appears in American Spectator.  All in all, I think his article is spot-on.  Among other things, he says the move to remove Burke and replace him with Wuerl "deserves a special place in the annals of in-your-face papal politics".  Frankly, that is the first thing that occurred to me when I first saw the reports.

When the first papal bloopers came out, Catholic pollyannas were rushing over themselves to convince us that the fuzzy comments were just a brilliant piece of Jesuit-talk to get us to ponder the "deeper meanings" or other such nonsense.  Well, ok.  I suppose that these latest incidents (the Burke-Wuerl exchange and the upset over the Franciscans celebrating the Tridentine rite) are a way of drawing out defenders of orthodoxy to speak out.  They certainly are.
We will pray for our Holy Father, but we will - for the sake of Holy Mother Church -speak out.

What Penny Nance Said!

In the wake of the election, there has been a lot of silly talk coming from some GOP wonks.  They claim that in order to win future elections, that the GOP must scuttle its positions on abortion, gay "marriage", etc.  Given that millions of Republicans stayed away from the polls when Mitt Romney (who is no lion regarding traditional morality) was running, their claim is silly on its face.  Even Ann Coulter seems to be swallowing the kool-aid.

Evangelicals issued their own warning to RINO establishment in this Christian Post piece.  Penny Nance's part appears towards the end.  I echo its sentiments.

Exposing "Occupy Wall Street"

My friend at Les Femmes posted about a site exposing the dubious charms of Occupy Wall Street.  Take a look at it here.   Ann Coulter has dubbed this OWS schtick as the "Flea Party", owing to some tiny vermin that are making their presence felt at those sanitation-challenged encampments of theirs.  An alternative name for them might be the "Pee Party", owing to tendencies, common amongst that crowd, to answer nature's call in public venues.

Here's a less-than-delightful video of them, again at the Americans for Prosperity meeting.  This time they're keeping a wheel-chair bound woman from exiting the building   Perhaps we should be grateful that they didn't let her out only to send her careening down the stairs.  Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Ann Coulter At The Homocon Conference

When I heard that Ann Coulter was speaking at the GOProud HomoCon conference, I thought she had gone "turncoat" on us.  I bet some of the gays in that crowd were likewise convinced.  Ann corrected all our misconceptions, according to this Lifesite News account.

Ann is usually right to the point.  When she started talking about gay marriage, she said, “I should warn you: I've never failed to talk gays out of gay marriage."  She then said that marriage “is not a civil right — you’re not black.”  If the GOProud wanted an interesting talk, they got it in spades and more.  See the link for more of her talk.

Ann, you go, girl!  Keep it up!
