Maryland Citizens - Join The Effort To Petition HB 937 To The Ballot

I received this email below from Defend Life regarding a critical petition drive to get an extreme abortion bill to Maryland's ballot this election cycle.  I needn't rehash it; it is below.  Maryland citizens, please get to your churches and elsewhere and spread the word.

I NEED your help.  Start TODAY to get the 25.000 signatures we need by May 31 and the additional 50.000 we need by June 30 to get on the November ballot to overturn this EVIL law. (Then continue next Sunday and on subsequent Sundays at your church!)

Print out plenty of petitions, bring pens and clipboards. Remember that each petition can only take 5 signatures, so if you think you can get 200 names, you need to print at least 40 petition forms.

All the details and requirement are printed and linked BELOW. If you still have questions, contact my great PRO-LIFE friend Rob Bart at 410-963-2001.

Please FWD this to every PRO-LIFE friend you have in Maryland.

Linked below are the documents you need to start your petition drive to defeat HB937, The Abortion Care Access Act.

The Petition document contains the petition with an instruction page for obtaining signatures as successfully as possible. The petition MUST be printed out so that the signature page is on one side of the page and the text of the law is on the other side. Read the instruction page very carefully and make sure your volunteers understand them, too. Use separate pages for signers from different counties.

This is the Voter Look-Up website: https://voterservices.elections.maryland.gov/VoterSearch  Use this site (QR code on the Instructions) to make sure the name on the petition is the same as your Voter Registration Record.

Please give this effort your best efforts. As you know, we have a tight deadline with a mountain to climb. We need a minimum of 25,000 signatures from across the state by midnight on May 31 and another 50,000 signatures by midnight on June 30 to get this on the November ballot.

The full text of the law is linked here and below. Have a few copies available so that the signers can read the full text of the law if they choose to do so.  We are opposing 2 parts of the law - the removal of the physician requirement and the requirement for insurance providers to cover abortion without copays or deductibles. Maryland law prohibits opposing laws or parts of laws that are considered part of the state operating budget, so we are not opposing the Medicaid funding or the training program funding

The flyer linked here and below may be printed out and copied to distribute and to post on your bulletin or message boards.

The campaigntoprotectwomen.org website will go live on Tuesday, May 10. There is a QR code for the website, but the website is not live yet. Linked here and below is the flyer with the QR code for the website.

Please share the links and this email with family and friends. Review each petition thoroughly to make sure all spaces are completed before you sign as Circulator, then mail them back, address on the Instructions.

Any questions, please email me at dbmdreferendum2022@gmail.com or call at 443-963-2001.

Restricted Churches Will Mean Restricted Dollars

Last Sunday, Laetare Sunday, the priest at Mass gave a homily regarding the link between the Eucharist and the priesthood.  He recalled to our memories that Our Lord instituted both the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Holy Orders on the first Holy Thursday.  The Holy Thursday mass commemorates both those realities.  That is why it is an abomination that women have their feet washed along with men during the Novus Ordo version of that Mass, but I digress.  Father went on to point out that the Church would cease to exist without these two Sacraments.

Whether or not Father intended to shed some additional light upon the current state of sacramental life in the Churches throughout the world, I don't know, but he did.  The shutdowns as inflicted upon the Catholic Churches are an attempt to strangle the Church to death and to choke off a necessary avenue of grace for our world that is obviously in dire straits.  I think it could very well be a deliberated goal on the part of some corrupt clergy, but it clearly is of the devils.  There are, of course, the clergy who really have no faith in God nor belief in the spiritual realm, so they play right into the hands of the other masterminds.

The immediate dissembling and capitulation of our bishops in the face of immoral and unconstitutional intrusion by civic officials is nothing short of sinful.  Indeed, in many cases, the bishops outdid the government in choking off the sacraments, and the graces that would flow from them.  Now that some of the local governments are backing off the restrictions, some bishops are moving to retain them.  The situation in Texas comes to mind.  Governor Abbott has done away with most restrictions, but that state's bishops, with the exception of Bishop Strickland, are keeping the sacraments from their flocks.

We now have a situation in which the world is spiritually and physically dying for lack of Masses being offered and other Sacraments being conferred.  It is up to us, the laity, to insist that Sacramental life be restored immediately, with our without the permission of increasingly rogue states.  No more can we just suffer this situation in silence.  If ever there was a time when "offering up" was simply a sanctimonious excuse for cowardice, now is that time.

For starters, please find below a petition that can be downloaded and mailed to your local bishop.  When you send it in, sign your name.  If you'd rather not spend the postage, you will be pleased to realize that many of the dioceses are having their annual appeals about now.  Many of those campaigns include the distribution of postage-paid envelopes in which you can send donations.  Well, use it for something more profitable to your diocese.  Put your letter therein and send it.  Please send them no money until they open both the Churches and the Sacraments.

Our Action Required - Another Actual Priest Thrown Under The Bus In The Archdiocese Of Washington

Thanks to Canon 212, I became aware of this situation in La Plata, MD.  Father Larry Swink, pastor of Sacred Heart parish, came to the defense of a pro-life student at Archbishop Neale school in Port Tobacco who was being bullied in the school for his pro-life stance.  Let that sink in for a moment.  The student was being bullied in a Catholic school for being pro-life.

The parents of the bullies didn't take too kindly to Father putting a stop to the marauding of their darling little hellions.  They complained to the Archdiocese of Washington.  So what did the progressives at the ADW do?  Without so much as a decent hearing (hmm... sound familiar?), they barred Father Swink from the school.

A petition has been started to get the archdiocese to reconsider their actions.  The archdiocese really needs to stop undermining the One True Faith, starting at the top, meaning Cardinal Gregory himself.  Please go to that link and sign it, and then alert others to do so.

One might ask why I'd be inclined to believe the narrative as stated on the petition page.  It's very simple.  What happened in La Plata is typical of what's been happening in the Archdiocese of Washington for years now.  As Cardinal Wuerl behaved towards Father Guarnizo, so does Cardinal Gregory behave towards Father Swink.

Gregory joins Cupich in claiming that the USCCB was incorrect to highlight Biden's pro-abortion stance.  Remember when Gregory waxed so indignant when President Trump visited the JPII Center?  Get a gander of this picture of him presiding at a Mass with Pelosi as lector; the Mass, by the way, was a public funeral for pro-abortion Cokie Roberts.  This is blatant episcopal hypocrisy.

The Downward Spiral Of The Archdiocese Of Washington Is Now Officially Declared

The long-dreaded announcement came this morning.  Sodomite-enabling Archbishop Wilton Gregory will leave the Archdiocese of Atlanta and will replace Cardinal Wuerl.  Several things are accomplished by this move:
  • This move makes plain that the Vatican pledges for reform have been nothing more than a joke, a sham.
  • The faith-wrecking legacy of Bernardin, Wuerl, McCarrick et al will continue to march on - unless we put up a fight.
  • Souls will continue to be led astray and into hell as the pro-sodomite juggernaut stomps through our schools and parishes.
  • This one may be a blessing in disguise.  Faithful Catholics who have hitherto been reticent about speaking out and taking action will be forced by dint of duty to oppose the onslaught of evil that will continue and probably increase.  Either that or there will be a reckoning at Judgment Day.
For now, I direct you to a petition started by LifeSiteNews and ask you to sign it and to tell your friends about it.  By the way - as I read the list of travesties committed by Gregory, I must admit that he has nothing on Wuerl or McCarrick.  However, his appointment is an unmistakable indication that the pope approves of these insults to the Faith.

Stay in touch with both this blog and the website of Catholic Laity for Orthodox Bishops and Reform.  Therein you will find news of activities in which we must participate.  For now, please act on that petition and be praying your Rosaries.

Sign Petition To Stop Assisted Suicide In Maryland

Two weeks ago I blogged about the assisted suicide measure that was before the Maryland House of Delegates.  Since then it has passed by a 74-36 vote.  It is now before the Senate.  We Marylanders must lobby our state senators to oppose it.  Should it pass, we must again lobby Governor Hogan to veto it.

For the rest of the country, please sign the petition started by LifeSiteNews to combat this measure.

Please pass this on to your other social pages and contacts.  Thanks.

Call For Faithful Catholics To Act - Please Thank Bishop Paprocki For Being A Real Bishop

Please see the previous post for details of Bishop Paprocki's actions - and the vitriol being hurled at him by progressives.  Of course they would be full of venom and spite for darkness hates the light and will always rail against it.

New Ways Monstrosity (my new pet name for it - UPDATE: let's make that New Ways Misery) has published an open letter to the Bishop in which they voice their resentment at the truth being spoken by the bishop.  I don't have time right now to pick this tome apart.  They urge their minions to communicate on their own to the bishop.  They give lip service to being civil, but we know what the reality will be.

I will say this much for the progressives, though.  Generally when they hear a tocsin for action, they will drop what they're doing and heed the call.  We faithful Catholics, on the other hand, tend to demure and content ourselves with watching from the sidelines and remain silent.  We no longer have the luxury of being passive - as if that was ever a valid option.  It's time we change that and we can start now.

The New Ways Monstrosity letter is helpful in one way: it conveniently provides the contact information for Bishop Paprocki.  Please use that to send your own message of support and thanks to the Bishop.  Given the hate and spite that the progressives are sending his way, our messages of support will be much appreciated.  If you feel tongue-tied and don't know quite what to say, LifeSiteNews has drafted a petition of thanksgiving to the Bishop.  Please click here if you would like to sign it.  Of course you can sign the petition and write your own message.

Please do not remain silent.  No one of us can afford to sit by while others do the "heavy lifting" as it were.  We, each one of us, are the Church Militant.  Let's stand up and act, and support those like Bishop Paprocki who take a leading stance.  Please pass this post to your contacts.

Corrupt Texas Attornies Indict David Daleiden - Please Sign Petition

As many of you know, David Daleiden and his Center For Medical Progress have investigated various Planned Parenthood centers and have caught many of their doctors and other officials red-handed in admitting to the selling of the bodies of babies whom they murdered.  Outrage against Planned Parenthood has increased, inspiring Congress to take serious measures to defund Planned Parenthood.  Of course the Messiah Most Miserable has vetoed all defunding efforts.  Still, that these bills have made it all the way to the White House is an historic achievement.

Comes now the word that Harris County, Texas has indicted for trafficking of babies' bodies not Planned Parenthood but David Daleiden.  They are letting Planned Parenthood off scott-free; or at least that seems to be their intent.  I learned of this through receiving an alert from LifeSiteNews asking all readers to petition Harris County to drop the charges and investigate the real culprit.

When I first heard the news, my immediate reaction was to think that someone in that DA's office must have ties to Planned Parenthood.  My gut instinct was correct, and Operation Rescue has pinned down the nature of the association.  It turns out that Lauren Reeder, an Assistant District Attorney for Harris County, sits on the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast.  This is an obvious and egregious conflict of interest.  They need an independent prosecutor to examine Planned Parenthood and Operation Rescue has called upon them for such an appointment.

Please sign the petition.  That the investigator is being charged with Planned Parenthood's crime is an absolute farce and gross miscarriage of justice.

Appeal To The Pope

A petition has been put online to beg the Holy Father to stand unambiguously for the Teaching of Jesus Christ in regards to marriage, family and sexuality.  It is the "Filial Appeal To His Holiness Pope Francis On The Future Of The Family".  Signatures are being collected in anticipation of the next Ordinary Synod On The Family.  So far over 55,000 haves signed.  Signers include:
  • Cardinal Raymond Burke
  • Bishop Athanasius Schneider
  • Joe and Ann Scheidler
  • Rick Santorum
I must say it is a very sad day when we must petition a Vicar of Christ to fulfill the mission that we should reasonably hope is already in the forefront of his mind.  Events of the past few months cause us to fear otherwise, the latest being the news that the Pope approved and ordered published the disgraceful interim report from last October's synod.  But it is what it is and we must speak out and yes, stand up to the progressive poison that pollutes the Vatican from the top on down.  In 1972 Venerable Fulton Sheen stated quite plainly that it is up to us, the laity, to save the church in spite of the clergy.

Please sign the petition and spread it to all your own contacts, asking them to do the same.

MCC Hammer At Another Baltimore Church

As mentioned yesterday, I'm reporting on an occurrence of the MCC screed in another Baltimore church.  A full-page insert of the MCC statement appeared in the bulletin of St Stephen Church in Kingsville, which I understand is in northern Baltimore County.  The man who relayed it is the son of a friend of mine.  He owns his own small business and is struggling to put his own children through college.  His youngest son finally was accepted into UMBC, after being on a waiting list.

The MCC claims that illegals would not displace citizens from seats at the community college level.  Be that as it may, can the same be said at the 4-year colleges?  Common sense would indicate in the negative.  Moreover, would the illegals have to register for Selective Service, as did this young man?

Can anyone blame this poor father for being indignant at the thought of his tax dollars being used to possibly block his own son from attending the school he wished to attend?  Such are the honest concerns of decent Catholics - concerns that deserve validation, not the ridicule that was heaped upon them in the MCC statement.

The Maryland Catholic Conference, in its widely-publicized statement, is making clear its expectation that good Catholics such as this father should behave like silent, submissive little cash cows by paying up and shutting up.  Moreover, the MCC states that any attempt to make their voices heard through legitimate political processes should be derided as "harsh".  In so doing, might the MCC itself be engaging in "harsh" behavior?

To the MCC - With all due respect, respect is due to those who don't hold to the opinion that Church social teaching is akin to socialism.  We see through this, and we won't be cowed.  The statement that you released this weekend is only one reason why many Catholics simply don't take you seriously - or more to the point, see such actvities as giving cover to socialistic elements in our society.

Petition to Drop Charges Against the Notre Dame 88

You'll recall from last May that Notre Dame University, a FORMERLY Catholic institution, sullied itself by inviting the Messiah Most Miserable to give the commencement address and to receive an "honorary" (using the term "honor" laughingly) degree.

Eighty-eight prolife activisits, at various times and locations during that period, were arrested for giving pro-life witness.  Most of the arrests occurred on campus, and were done with the approval, if not the actual mandate, of Father Jenkins, the University president.  While he now claims that he does not have the legal authority to have the charges dropped, common sense dictates that a request from him to do so would have great bearing on the matter and would most likely result in dismissal.  Reasonable people can conclude that the courts would rather not be bothered with a myriad of tresspass cases, and would most likely welcome the request for dismissals so they could move onto other matters.

The Thomas More Society, Human Life International and Lifesite News have drawn up an online petition to ask that Father Jenkins request dismissal of the charges.  We link to that petition here and ask that you sign it, and to please advise those whom you know to sign it as well.  Thank you.
