Archbishop Gregory Kissing Up To Biden

 Well, that didn't take long, did it?  There isn't yet certainty as to the outcome to the election, but Archbishop Gregory has already started bowing and scraping before Bumblin Biden.  Reuters reports that Gregory wants to seek "common ground" with Biden.  That shouldn't be too hard to find for they actually have quite a bit.  Gregory claims that they differ on abortion (by how much is anyone's guess) but judging from Gregory's already cozy associations with LGTB elements, he and Biden may well see eye to eye on those issues.  

Note in that video how Gregory aspires to be a "bridge-builder".  Now doesn't that term sound familiar?  The archbishop is in Rome at present, awaiting the bestowal of the cardinal's red hat that will be bestowed on him this coming Saturday.  While there, he openly stated that he plans to give Biden Holy Communion.  That is, he plans to violate Canon 915 and to formally and materially cooperate with Biden's mortal sin of receiving Holy Communion sacrilegiously.  That cooperation, of course, is its own mortal sin.

I know the Archdiocese of Washington keeps its beady little eyes on this blog, who would the designated silent troll please pass the message in the following video to your bosses?  Pray that it will do some good.  Thank you.

Important Calls To Action

Below is a Vortex from a few days ago.  I'm going to focus on one aspect of it only.  Voris talked about how Jesus required labor from the servants to perform His first miracle at Cana.  He was granting Our Lady's request, but required human effort.  When I say "required", I don't mean He needed the servants per se.  Rather, He commanded it because He chooses to work through us, not in lieu of us or in spite of us.  Here is the video, and below that I will have more commentary.

I see on many social media pages discussions of various evils, such as the one being perpetrated against Father James Altman - the subject of my two previous blog posts.  Many people voice their anger and disappointment.  Some will suggest prayer.  All too seldom do I see suggestions for practical actions.  It is the last that is sorely lacking.  From what we can glean from the vortex, it is that through which Our Lord might wish to work.

One thing I will say for the left is that when they hear calls to action from their leaders, they respond with much determination and alacrity.  For the most part, I do not see that same sense of purpose in play amongst our numbers.  We are serving Our Lord.  Does He not deserve our best?  In addition to contacting the La Crosse diocese directly, please sign this petition on the LifeSiteNews page.

In addition to the matter of Father Altman, another call to action has been issued that deserves our attention.  We hear from Church Militant that a lay Catholic group has called upon DC Archbishop Gregory to denounce the anti-Catholic bigotry in the Democratic Party, a trait that the dems no longer bother to conceal.  Join your voices with their's; here is the contact information for the Archdiocese.

Archbishop Gregory's Freudian Slip, Tobin Allowing LGTB Mass

LifeSiteNews alerts us that when Archbishop Gregory tried to link the pro-life movement with the BLM version of "racial justice", that he uttered a major blooper. He opined that a person's human dignity begins at birth.  To his dubious credit, he at least allows that, as opposed to VA governor Northam, who favors allowing born babies to die if they survive abortion attempts.  However, from bishops, we'd expect that they would acknowledge that our personhood and dignity starts the moment that our father's sprem fertilized our mother's ovum.

Archbishop Gregory's like-minded colleague, Cardinal Joseph "nighty-night-baby" Tobin again allowed Our Lady of Grace Church in Hoboken NJ to conduct a sacrilegious "LGTB pride mass".  I have blogged quite a bit on Tobin's aiding and abetting the gay-perverted lifestyle, along with his own keeping of a gay male "actor" in his rectory.

Like pesky flies these scandals just don't stop bombarding us.  I and others reiterate these to keep in mind that these events are not how the Church is to be led.  They are serious aberations, not to be accepted but to be denounced and protested.

Caught In A Lie?

On Tuesday, Archbishop Gregory stated that he found it "baffling and reprehensible" that President Trump was keeping his commitment to visit the JP II shrine.  He was shocked - just shocked! - you see?

Well, now comes the revelation that several days prior to the visit, the White House invited the Archbishop to join the president at the shrine.  Gregory declined, stating that he had prior commitments.  The CNA link quotes other sources as stating that Gregory didn't learn of the visit until the prior evening.

So how is it that Gregory declined an invitation to an event, but then claimed to be baffled that the event occurred?  Inquiring minds would like to know!

Absp Gregory To Force Priests To Protest Trump Tomorrow

When I posted my previous piece about the "prayer service", I did not have complete information.  Church Militant has inside sources that DC Archbishop Gregory is ordering his priests to join in a protest of our president under the guise of a "prayer service"..  CM has obtained copies of the communications, both to the priests and to the local Knights of Columbus.  This is beyond reprehensible.

Can anyone go for a counter-protest tomorrow?  It starts at 11:00 am at Lafayette Park.  I frankly hope that many priests won't show.  What Gregory is doing to them is a crime.

In case you haven't seen this on other sources, see this LifeSiteNews piece containing an open letter to President Trump from Archbishop Vigano.  I hope that Archbishop Vigano is right in supposing that good people are in the majority in this country.  In any event, they have got to wake up and slough off their apathy to events beyond their narrow worlds.

Archbishop Gregory Praying For The Soul Of America?

A commenter on my open letter to Archbishop Gregory informs us all that he plans to hold a prayer service in Lafayette Park tomorow (Mon June 8) to "pray for George Floyd's soul and the soul of America".  I hope this doesn't turn into a de facto canonization of George Floyd.  As unjust his death was, Floyd by no means lived a virtuous life, so prayers for his repose would be very much needed.

But other people were murdered too over this past week.  In addition to the people mentioned in my open letter, there was also an elderly couple, Paul and Lidia Marino, who were ambushed while visiting their son's grave.  Also murdered in an ambush was Santa Cruz Deputy Damon Guttzwiller as he and another deputy were investigating a van with guns and bomb-making materials.

There are also the wounded.  NYPD officer Jean Pierre was stabbed in the neck by looters; fortunately thy missed a major artery or else he'd be dead.  The FBI is investigating this as terrorism. Perhaps its worth noting that Pierre and other victims of the rioting are blacks.  Do their black lives matter?

Other blacks have found their lives work ruined.  Korboi Balla, a Minneapolis firefigher, saved to build a bar burned to the ground.  In the north part of the city, Trevon Ellis watched his barber shop burn down.  Lucy Hosley in Manhattan had her deli looted and ransacked.  In Detroit, Roderick Reynolds saw his family's home and his work truck go on in flames.  Archbishop Gregory, do their black lives matter?

Praying for the soul of America is well and good.  However, our priests and bishops need to drive out from its midst the filth of pandering to gay agendas and the coddling of pro-abortion personalities.  They need to foreswear socialism in all its thin disguises; that means chucking the "social justice gospel" into the dung heap.  If Archbishop Gregory wants to yap and yammer about "white privilege", how in hades does he explain his own position as Archbishop of the Nation's Capital?

An Open Letter To Archbishop Gregory

Archbishop Gregory, since you claim to be about eliminating racism and attacks on minorities, I am sure you would like to say some words on these deaths.  There are the murders of Patrick Underwood and of David Dorn.  Both of these victims were black gentlemen killed in the course of the riots.  Oh, wait!  They were both police officers murdered by the BLM hooligans, so perhaps that doesn't quite fit your narrative!

In Las Vegas, a 29-yr-old Greek American police officer was shot in the head.  He is on life support at the moment.  Does he register a blip on your radar screen, Your Excellency?   Probably not because he's a white cop.  I suspect you'd also hold in disdain the 50 Secret Service officers who were injured this past weekend as "peaceful" thugs marauded near the White House, not too far from your own residence.  Mind you, I'd be delighted to be proven wrong; you can do that if you'd like.

George Floyd wasn't the only black man abused by rogue cops.  In Jackson MS a few weeks ago, a police officer pinned a young black man to a car with hands around his throat.  Bystanders implored the cop to let him go as he was having trouble breathing.  Except for local media, this has not received any attention as did the Floyd situation.  Do you care about that, Your Excellency?  But there's teensy little difference, isn't there?  In Jackson, the brute police officer is black.  It appears, Your Excellency, that you and too many of your brother bishops are only concerned about violence if it's white-on-black.  If the violence is black-on-white or black-on-black, I think you couldn't care less.

This blog joins many other voices in condemning your criticism of the President as he was in the process of protecting our religious freedoms during a time of great mayhem.  Fox News has made note of that (even if other mainstream media turn a blind eye).  The blogger One Mad Mom finds it "reprehensible" that you are our bishop (to use your own language).  Archbishop Vigano opines that your reckless posturing and criticism of the President shows you to be a "false shepherd".  To be frank, you are behaving like one.

I will end my letter, Your Excellency, with an article that suggests what might have been more appropriate to come from you, given both the President's role and your own as Archbishop of the Nations's Capital: a condemnation of the riots, a call to repentance and return to the One True Church, preaching against sins against the Sixth Commandment and abortion.

To my other readers: embedded in that last link is a petition to ask Archbishop Gregory to apologize to President Trump and the Knights of Columbus. Please sign it and spread it around.  Uphold these men in prayer.  But until our bishops start acting like men of God, withhold all financial contributions.

Archbishop Gregory's Disgraceful Hissy-Snit-Fit Today

Yesterday President Trump went to historic St John's church in DC, just a short walk from the White House.  He went a day after rioters tried to set it ablaze.  All sorts of religious (?) leaders were appalled - not at the wanton attempt to destroy a church with historical significance, but that President Trump actually visited the church.  In fact, "bishop" Mariann Budde was shocked - shocked! - that police used tear gas and rubber bullets to clear away the peaceful little arsonists from the church.  She sniffed that Trump didn't give her the "courtesy" of advance notice.  Did she utter the same complaint at those who set fire to the church?

An open note to Ms Budde - Honey, all pretenses aside, you ain't no bishop!  Perhaps it doesn't occur to you that all that nasty tear gas is why St John's is still standing?  But if you really are concerned about the poor little thugs, why not invite them to wreak havoc at the National Cathedral?  I'd bet they would have a blast - in more ways than one!

But onto today's scandalous behavior by Archbishop Wilton Gregory.  A visit by President Trump to the Saint John Paul II National Shrine today had been schedule a while ago as a prelude to his signing of an executive order regarding religious freedom.  The president adhered to that schedule, giving Gregory a lame excuse to launch into a display of faux-indignation.  In it he decries the dispersal of the thugs from St John, implying that the late John Paul II would condone the destruction wreaked by the rioters.  Nowhere in Gregory's tirade did I detect one word of rebuke for the thugs who brought about much destruction and yes, murder, in these past few days.  In fact, we hear little from the bishops in terms of denouncing these events - aside from their politically correct pabulum about racism.  George Neumayr has a piece on this matter that deserves reading.

By the way - if there is any silver lining to the cloud of the rioting it is that they have made plain to all the world that the covid-19 shutdown and "social distancing" was just a cheap sham.  Did you see or hear any governmental nannies reproach those mobs for "failing to social-distance"?  Neither did I.

Murder Of George Floyd

Last week, on Memorial Day in Minneapolis, four police officers used excessive force on Goerge Floyd, causing his death.  Floyd was on the ground.  At one point, three officers had their knees on him.  Derek Chauvin had his knee on Floyd's neck.  This lasted for almost 10 minutes.  The police relented only when paramedics showed up.  Floyd was later pronounced dead.

There is much video on the internet.  Given the reckless attitude evinced by Chauvin, as he stares into one of the cell phone cameras, hands in pockets while kneeling on Floyd's neck, no one can doubt that he knew what he was doing.  The four oficers were fired and Chauvin was arrested on charges of manslaughter and third-degree murder.  I do not know if Minnesota recognizes depraved-heart murder as second or third degree murder.

There is some talk of Floyd and Chauvin working for the same club last year, so it's quite possible that they knew each other.  Both Chauvin and Tou Thao (one of the other officers) have both been subjects of internal investigations through the years.   Right away we know now that while racism may have been a factor in this murder, that has not been definitively proven.  In the facts just stated, including the possibility of Chauvin and Floyd being acquainted from previous employment, we can surmise other motives as well.

However, the politically correct knee-jerk reaction is to cry "RACISM!" before there has been one hearing on this matter.  Sadly, but predictably, the USCCB, the Archdiocese of Washington and the Archdiocese of Baltimore have hopped on the politically correct bandwagon.  Here's another one from the USCCB.  Notice how both say they are distressed to see another video of a black man being killed?  Why did they feel it necessary to specify a black man?  Would they have been less distressed if the victim were white?  Here's a "case-in-point".  The meme is incorrect; the woman's name is Justine Damond.  She too was murdered by a Minneapolis cop.  I did not learn of her until I saw the picture on Facebook.  Why didn't I hear of her before?  Where was the public outcry for her?  When did the nation's bishops wax mournful over her?  For that matter, are the bishops going to pay this gentleman any attention?

Mayhem is happening all over the country, and not as spontaneously as some might like to pretend.  One rioter in fact is asking questions - such as, why are pallets of bricks mysteriously appearing at protest locations?  They do come in quite handy when looking for something to hurl through a shop or car window!  Might it be these folks?  One of their flyers was found in the streets during an outbreak in Baltimore.

If some of the rioters go to trial, they will need lawyers.  They need never fear, for two liberally-trained lawyers were operating right beside them, supplying the rioters with molotov cocktails and other explosives.  These lawyers are in custody now; whether or not they'll serve jail time remains to be seen.  They should at least be disbarred - however, there are the Clintons and Obamas so, oh never mind!

Tucker Carlson has stated that the mainstream meda are fanning the flames of this mob violence.  I regret that for the most part, so are the US bishops.  If you read that article about this "friends of democracy" bunch, you'll see talk of "friendly law enforcement" and other covert allies.  Many police departments are standing down; might they (or at least high officials) be in cahoots with the thugs?  President Trump said he would deploy troops and National Guards to do what local police can't (or won't) do, utilizing the Insurrection Act.

Reflections On The Treason Against Holy Mass And Civil Liberties

A few, no, many words are in order for us to understand the seizmic significance of what has spewed forth from our chanceries over the past few days. And it is a huge deal, what is going down.

I and many others are old enough to recall a quaint document, regarded as obsolete by progressives, known as the United States Constitution.  I'll now link to the First Amendment to the Constitution.  We tend to think of this amendment solely in terms of free speech, but the amendment protects more rights in addition, namely freedom of religion and freedom of assembly.  Yesterday, at a press conference, Governor Hogan of Maryland enacted a ban of all gatherings, including religious, at all locations.  Ladies and gentlemen, to be blunt, in that speech he trampled upon the First Amendment.. That scenario was repeated several times throughout the United States.

"But it's for public safety!", you say?  Well, listen to the wise words of one of our Founding Father, Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safey and will lose both".  Today the excuse for discarding the Constitution is the covid-19 virus.  Well, months from now, what will be the excuse when governmental officials wax a little too Orwellian for their britches?  More importantly, how will we protect our rights, given that so many of us are now willing to excuse the ever-encroaching camel's nose under the tent?

As disappointed as I am in Governor Hogan, I am even more profoundly disgusted at the wide-spread acquiesence and even approval that this governmental overreach is garnering from American citizens.  Have we forgotten who we are as a people?  Have we no knowledge of our history, or of our founding documents?  Perhaps it's because so many of us are morally weakened by de facto atheism and sensuality (especially regarding sexual matters) that our intellects are now stunted and calcified.  Collectively we have become not people, but sheeple, being willing to be led by our noses, provided that we have sufficient creature comforts, entertainment, anything else that might facilitate perpetual childhood.  Shame on us!

More importantly, shame on the Church!  With a few notable exceptions (thank you, Archbishop Sample and Bishop Strickland), the bishops have gone right along with the suppression of our Faith and even surpassed civic leaders in perfidy.  That is precisely what Archbishop Gregory did yesterday; he surpassed Hogan via his draconian measures.  Reading his press release again, Gregory claimed to be "following public safety directives made by Governor Hogan".  However, Hogan's ban on public gatherings only applies to gatherings in excess of 250 people, not all gatherings.  Why did Gregory cancel all Masses?  We probably heard that Archbishop Lori limited Mass attendance to 250 people while dispensing the Sunday obligation.  I'll leave debate of that for another possible post.  At least in Baltimore Masses are still happening.  Moreover, during weekday Masses the attendance is nowhere close to 250.  Yet Gregory canceled every public Mass.  I must also point out that Gregory canceled Masses in Washington DC, clearly outside of Hogan's jurisdiction.  If the DC government issued a similar injunction, I find no record of that. This action of Gregory's, whatever the motive, is an abysmal disgrace.  In a crisis such as this, more Masses are needed, not less.

Thankfully a few prelates understand that they are bishops and most see to the eternal salvation of their flock.  Archbishop Sample of Portland OR reiterated the right of the faithful to receive Holy Communion on the tongue.  There is no blather of Masses curtailed in his archdiocese.   Bishop Strickland of Tyler TX has called for Eucharistic processions for repentance and to beg for healing.  The Polish Bishops' Conference stated that it's unconscionable to close churches and that more Masses are needed.

Mindful of these events and the fast-approaching St. Patrick's feast day, I post the video below.  It seems quite appropriate, given that many of us will either have to travel far and wide for Mass or even do without it.

BREAKING! Archdiocese Of Washington Suspends Masses Until Further Notice!!!

This from the Catholic Standard.  Archbishop Gregory has SUSPENDED ALL PUBLIC MASSES "UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE", whatever the hell "further notice" means!   Ostensibly he is complying with Governor Hogan's order to cancel public gatherings. 

Remember the First Amendment?  That's not only about free speech.  It also guarantees freedom of religion and freedom of assembly.  So does the United States Constitution now get trampled in the name of so-called "public safety"?  What excuse will it be the next time some public official gets a little too Orwellian in his/her brain?  If we gave Hogan the benefit of doubt, perhaps he only meant to curtail gatherings in public arenas.

But Church buildings are not public arenas.  While open to the public, they are under private ownership - ownership of the Church.  I am not sure Hogan meant to encompass religious services, for then the directive wouldn't have come from Gregory.

But the directive is coming from Gregory?  Why?  If anything else, a sane bishop would realize that in this time of trial and possibly chastisement, we need more Masses, not less.  Speaking of "Gregory", I wrote a bit about another "Gregory" and his excellent response to a similar situation.  Yes, our local ordinary is acting a bit too ordinary.

Satan would like nothing more than to see the obliteration of Holy Mass and too many prelates, from the pope on down, are unwittingly following his lead.  At least I hope, for their sake, that they are doing so unwittingly.

Of course, we are "dispensed", but I will be driving out of area to another Mass, praying that surrounding bishops have more sense.

DC Diocese Shake-Down Preempts ALL Homilies This Past Weekend

On Sunday I asked whether or not the ADW parishes were ordered to scuttle the homily for that day's Mass to make way for the Annual Appeal sales pitch.  I asked several DC area friends what happened in their churches.  So far I received six replies from different parishes.  They all report that the sales pitch replaced the homily in its entirety. 

I was prepared to give the chancery the benefit of any doubt, to surmise that perhaps they merely gave permission to scuttle the homily.  However, according to one report, the priest announced that the homily would be replaced, and did so with noticeable displeasure.  The evidence points to an order from the chancery dictating that the homily be completely scuttled in favor of the sales pitch.

Sunday's post linked to the GIRM's stipulations regarding a homily at Sunday Mass.  Clearly the rubrics were shredded this past Sunday, apparently by the direction of the chancery and the Archbishop.

Consider the irony of this archdiocesan blunder, if you will.  Recall how they went into "damage control mode".  Whoever wrote that flyer pretended that our only concern regards the McCarrick abuse scandals.  Horrific as that is, that is not our only concern.  We want to see the DC chancery actually proclaim the faith, to recall that its primary mission is to save souls, not to be "social justice warriors".  We demand that dignity and reverence and adherene to sacramental norms be implemented and enforced.  Clearly that did not happen this past weekend, when the homily was completely jettisoned for a glib sales pitch.  Either some people in the chancery are completely tone deaf, or (more likely) they really don't give a flying fig about our concerns, let alone fidelity to the Church's real mission.

While such a state of affairs lasts, we will have no choice but to pass up this collection.

Archbishop Gregory Honors Gay-Enabling Religious

Before we look at the main problem here, let's start with a general examination of the December 19th issue of the Catholic Sub-Standard.

In addition to the deficiencies observed by my blogging colleague A Washington DC
Catholic, others caught my eye.  On page 4 of the paper edition appears an article written by Msgr John Enzler entitled "Rejoicing in Jesus' Humble Birth"  In it the usual canards are to be found, particularly the one about Him being homeless.  Note to Msgr Enzler, the pope, etc: the Holy Family was not , repeat NOT, homeless.  They traveled to Bethlehem to register for tax purposes.  In fact, much of the population was traveling for the same reason.  That is why there was no room in the inns, for the rooms were occupied by fellow travelers.  So much for that politically-correct codswallop.

The other one, one that the progressives seem to think is obligatory to trot out, is that they were refugees.  Of course they are doing so to justify those crashing through our borders in disregard for legitiate immigration laws.  While they were indeed fleeing Herod at the direction of an angel, in no way did they flout immigration law.  Moreover, after a short while, they returned to their native place.

Another gaffe can be found on page 19 in the short blurbs of saints on the calendar for January.  I cannot find this on an online version.  Anyway, regarding St Raymond of Penafort, the Standard erroneously states that he was the second master general after St Dominic.  In fact, the second master general was Blessed Jordan of Saxony.  St Raymond was the third master general.  Might the ordinary lay person know that?  Most likely not.  However, one should be able to expect that the authors and editors of a Catholic publication would check these facts before publishing these kinds of bloopers.

But now for the real point of this post.  On page 20 of the paper edition, and here from the online edition, we read that Sr Mary Berchmans Hannan, former head of Georgetown Visitation, has been honored with a campus building named after her.  Archbishop Gregory attended the dedication and there was a big photo-op of the two of them.  The bloviation in her honor included snippets such as claiming that "everything she has done has been directed to honor God".  Oh really?   Let me jog some memories of events of this past May!   In brief, Sister announced that the alumni magazine would be polluted by the announcement of same-sex shack-ups.  Whatever the reasons, by praise of perversion she has embroiled the entire Visitation institution in mortal sin.  Some alumni did publish an open letter to protest Sister's horrendous decision.  However, one doesn't detect a peep of that mortal sin in the Standard's overly-glowy accolades for Berchmans.  She should have been tossed out on her ear after that stunt.  But of course our current prelate, friend of Fortunate Families, probably finds in her a kindred spirit - and it's not the Holy Spirit.

Rossi To Be Investigated And Absp Gregory Botches Theology On Tap

As many know, Catholic journalist George Neumayr has been unearthing scandalous details regarding Msgr Walter Rossi's perverted misdeeds.  Now comes the announcement from the Diocese of Scranton (Rossi's diocese) that both Bishop Bambera and Archbishop Wilton Gregory will conduct a joint "forensic investigation" into the allegations regarding Rossi.

Archbishop Gregory had to have known that we would never let the Rossi matter fade from the memories of Catholics.  Not only was there my 5-second reminder to him this past Saturday, but at yesterday's "Theology on Tap" session, the first question from the audience was in regard to the Rossi matter.  You'll find that at the 17-minute marker.



One other teensy little news item might have served as impetus for at least putting up a facade of an investigation (if that is what it is).  Church Militant has published the news that James Grein, the man whom McCarrick savaged for years is now filing a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the Vatican and the Archdiocese of New York for doing absolutely nothing about the abuse that he suffered.  Perhaps that is not a factor behind Gregory's present decision to do something about Rossi, but often money is a key motivating factor for our errant shepherds.  My blogging colleague, A Washington DC Catholic, has additional questions regarding this matter.

Before we all entertain wild hopes that some changes might be coming to the Archdiocese, please be advised that the rest of that video will snap you back to reality.  The camera is always facing the archbishop, so we can't see those posing the questions and I find the questions somewhat inaudible.  Gregory's responses, though, are rather distressing. At the 20-minute mark, in reply to someone from St Matthew's about those engaged in perversions (not his terms), Gregory rehashes his deplorable track record in Atlanta and sings the praises of dissident priest Fr James Martin and a sodomite-enabling bunch called Fortunate Families.  One glance at that web page will leave no doubt as to the spiritual poison to be found therein.

At the 30-minute mark, we hear from someone who identifies him/herself as a "transgender Catholic".  Again, the camera faces Gregory and the acoustics are poor, so I've no way of telling if that person was male or female.  At least I have a reasonable excuse.  Anyway, he/she asks "what place do I have in the church?".  To that  Gregory responds "right in the heart of the Church".  He added that Jesus "engaged such people".  Well, not as equals, Your Excellency!  He always called sinners to repentance, not "accompaniment".   Of course all the liberals clapped and whistled over that nonsense.  It's nonsense because the bishop of the local Church failed to preach repentance from the mortal sins of perversion as a necessary step to eternal life.

In Washington DC, the swamp will be fetid for quite some time.

ADW! Boycott CCHD THIS WEEK END

This evening I did something that I hardly ever do; I went to a Saturday evening Mass.  Normally I go on Sunday because that day is the Lord's Day.  However, I went because Archbishop Gregory was going to celebrate that Mass.  And he did - more on that later.

As I was going into Mass, I saw the CCHD collection envelopes in a bin for usage.  I grabbed one and had time to jot a note to explain why I won't give to "Catholic Cash Helping Demons".  I signed my note, put it in the envelope and dropped it in the second collection basket.  Read this little compendium for more reasons why not one penny should be forked over to that bunch.

There was a respectable number of people at that Mass, but it was by no means crowded.  After Mass I greeted him and said that I was looking forward to having some of the current mess cleaned up.  He replied "I'll try" then turned away. Clearly I brought up an unpleasant topic, but it was necessary.  I believe that he will be showing up at many archdiocesan parishes.  I hope many others join me in letting him know that we will not rest until the rot is cleaned out of the chancery.  This excellent article by Christopher Manion will explain why I'm not optimistic that Gregory will join us but rather will have some 'splainin' of his own to do.

Archbishop Gregory Opens Mouth And Inserts Both Feet

Archbishop Gregory made one of his first public addresses a day or so ago.  He took the occasion to lob a pot-shot at President Trump for accurately stating that parts of Baltimore are filled with both trash and violent crimes.  He spun the president's remarks to insinuate that Trump aimed derogatory remarks at the Baltimore citizens themselves.  Quite frankly, both Gregory's and Lori's remarks are themselves dishonest and nonsensical.

Both Lori and Gregory are part of the liberal Church establishment.  They get lots of favors by doing the bidding of their Democrat task-masters.  They are coming to the defense of those task-masters because it's the Democrats that have been in charge of Baltimore for over 50 years.  Baltimore has not seen a Republican mayor since Theodore McKelden left that office in 1967.  Democrats have been at the helm since then - and two of those Demorats were the father and brother of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.  But that's just a coincidence, I'm sure (ahem)!  There are many questions as to how Baltimore handled Federal grants throughout the years; where did that money go??

By the way - Washington DC has gone down the tubes as well.  DC's mayors have all been Democrats for the past 45 years.  Lori and Gregory should take a walk on their respective cities' wild sides and see for themselves how their cities have fared under their Democrat buddies.  One left-wing reporter from Fox 45 Baltimore did that in a run-down Baltimore neighborhood.  As she sniffed that Trump should "take a look at things for himself", a rat photobombed her video.  Take a look.

If Lori and Gregory can't give honest appraisals of the situations of their dioceses, maybe they should stick to their God-given jobs - you know, like, making sure the Faith is taught properly in their parishes, cleaning perversion from their parishes (like St Matthew's, Abhp Lori!), disciplining pro-abortion Catholic pols in their Churches by obeying Canon 915, you get the picture!

Until these things happen, I'd suggest complete boycotts of any archdiocesan collections in both DC and Baltimore.

Queen Of The Nile

According to sources in Atlanta, Archbishop Gregory's former see, his nickname is "Queen of the Nile".  I understand such nicknames are quite common in, uh, "certain circles".  We've had "Donna" and "Blanche".  If history is any predictor, we in the Washington archdiocese are in for a bumpy ride.

By the way - we are being asked to pay for that ride via the "Annual Appeal".  Notice how they won't call it the "Archbishop's Appeal"?  They know very well that "Archbishop's" anything would go over like a lead balloon.  How stupid do they think we are?  Here's the email that I and many others received today.

Let's make sure this little balloon goes down with a thud, too.  Just give directly to worthwhile charities without going through these "middlemen" and risking your dollars being diverted to anti-Catholic entities.

Gay-Pandering In The Catholic Church

Almost three years ago I wrote this post regarding gay-pandering David Haas.  Today it is still quite relevant, if not more so now than then.  LifeSiteNews captured a screen shot of his facebook page, in which he announced, and I quote, "For Pride Month, last night I composed a Taize’-like (ostinato) refrain, based on Psalm 139, 13-14".  In other words, he twisted Sacred Scripture to celebrate the mortal sin of sodomy.  It seems like the distortion of Scripture is quite the fad these days in progressive circles, but I digress.

That post has been deleted (I wonder why!), but there remains this gem from Fr James Martin that he shared to his wall.  Unfortunately he is not the only one who slobbers over James Martin.  On Good Friday of 2017, Wuerl invited Martin to preach on Good Friday at St Matthew's Cathedral.  Later he was invited to lecture at the Theological College at Catholic University; faithful Catholics were successful in putting the kibosh on that debacle; read here.  Under Archbishop Gregory, we have indications that we can only expect more gay-pandering, as he did in the Archdiocese of Atlanta.  I wonder if we can expect gay propaganda now in the Catholic Standard.  If so, they will hear from us.

For now, I'd suggest that faithful music directors expunge David Haas from their repertoires.  If that doesn't happen, faithful Catholics should simply refuse to sing his dribble. 

Washington Post Gnashes Its Teeth Over A Local Priest Upholding Catholic Teaching

See here.  They are joined by other progressives in the area.  Unfortunately in Montgomery County there are quite a few of them.  When I say "unfortunate", I mean that they are placing themselves in danger of damnation, owing to their applauding of mortal sin.

Recall how Georgetown Visitation, thanks to Sister Mary Berchams Hannan, soiled itself by its open embrace of lesbian perversion.  A nearby pastor knew he could not remain silent.  Msgr Filari, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes in Bethesda MD, issued an open letter to Sister.  It appeared in the bulletin. (By the way, should this bulletin "mysteriously" disappear, please be advised that many of us have downloaded it and we can make it reappear!)  Msgr tells the truth regarding the support of perversion.that it will endanger souls.  The screed issued by the Post is both typical and expected.

The real question is whether or not newly-minted Archbishop Wilton Gregory will himself uphold Catholic moral teaching.  Will he?  Will he act as a real shepherd of souls?  Or will he follow the despicable precedent set by his now-disgraced predecessor in office, Cardinal Wuerl, when the latter threw Father Marcel Guarnizo under the bus for withholding Holy Communion from a flaming lesbian?  All eyes will be upon him - including ours.

ADW's Next Bumpy Ride Gets Underway

As of today, our archdiocese is now under the spiritual care (or lack thereof) of Archbishop Wilton Gregory.  His installation Mass and ceremony today was a mere harbinger of things to come.  From Catholic News Agency we see some snippets of insipidity.  To wit: "I want to be a welcoming shepherd who laughs with you whenever we can, who cries with you whenever we must, and who honestly confesses his faults and failings before you when I commit them, not when they are revealed"

No, no, NO!  Forget all this talk of "laughing" and "crying", Your Excellency!  You are our designated leader and shepherd!  Where are the promises to uphold the Sacred Deposit of the Faith?  Where are the promises to call dissidents to repentance and to discipline them when necessary?  Where are the promises to expunge the poisons of abortion advocacy and gay-coddling from the clergy and church structures? 

Enough of this talk of giggling and blubbering!  That is silly, effeminate, touchy-feely fairy-talk!  Such a squishy screed confirms our misgivings that the dissidence-coddling of your Atlanta days  simply changed locations.  For us in the Archdiocese of Washington, it portends at best that our episcopal leadership will be lack-luster at best.  I hope to be proved incorrect.

But alas, two other harbingers of continued mediocrity were at that Mass.  Those "signs" are now-disgraced Cardinal Wuerl and now-disgraced Cardinal Mahony.  Yes, they were right up there.  I wouldn't be a bit surprised if McCarrick was also in attendance.  Of course in his laicized state he would have had to be in the congregation.  But I digress.

Given the way that both Wuerl and Mahony have disgraced their own collars and robes, a normal person might have presumed that they would stay away.  But they didn't.  Were they defiantly sending a message that their vision for the Church in the US was being advanced by Gregory's placement as Archbishop of Washington?  I wouldn't be surprised for unfortunately they may be correct.  That is all the more reason to pray that our clergy return to the One True Faith.
