Earlier today this blog had its 1-millionth visitor. While I'm grateful to God that I have had the ability to write this thing, I am saddened that the need for this blog, and so many others, exists. So much filth has been allowed to infest the One True Church that we must call attention to it so that we can work and pray for its purgation.
I started this blog for several reasons: 1) to inform DC-area Catholics of relevant news that the Catholic Standard and Catholic Review would refuse to publish, 2) to encourage faithful Catholics in the pews to fight for their Church via protests, boycotts, street activisim 3) to put them in touch with other excellent news sources. Just recently I have had occasion to point out the effect that faithful Catholics can have when we raise our voices and demonstrate to corrupt and cowardly Church bureaucrats that we are the Church Militant and not the "church mousy".
Along those lines, I will soon be commenting on the "sex summit sin-nod" that just ended in Rome. However, I would be remiss in not thanking God and my readers for this milestone.

Catholic Activists Save Theological College From Father Martin
Two months ago I posted that Jesuit heretic Father James Martin was scheduled to be the keynote speaker at a symposium being conducted by Washington Theological College. In that post, you'll see that commenter "kiwiinamerica" lamented that Martin would probably never be disinvited. At the time, his/her doubts were well-founded. He/she can now rejoice for now Martin is disinvited, thanks be to God.
Left-wing rags are wailing and bemoaning Martin's well-deserved comeuppance. Take a look at this whiny pout from the Not-At-All-Catholic Reporter. They interviewed Martin, who puts the blame on "far-right church websites such as Church Militant, LifeSiteNews and the blog run by Father Zuhlsdorf". Of course those sites also include many other blogs run by faithful Catholics - such as this one. I'll have more to say on this point later in the post.
Church Militant has some more details. Not only was Martin dumped from the Theological College event, but he was also axed as a speaker for a gala to be held by the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre. In that situation, their leadership faced backlash from outraged knights. Martin himself snivels and pouts about the cancellations on his facebook and twitter pages.
Despite the "poor widdle me" tripe that Martin exudes on his pages, the record tells the story of his attempt to normalize the mortal sin of sodomy. In this clip he actually calls for "reverence" of sinful situations. Note that his gay friend, who thinks he's "married" to his accomplice in sin, is the chair of the theology department at Fordham University. Both he and Martin, unless they repent and confess their sins, will be accountable for leading many young souls down a path to perdition. For clarification on that point, I now link to a piece by Msgr Charles Pope that summarizes Christ's teachings on homosexual conduct.
When I wrote my piece two months ago, I too didn't think there was much chance that Martin would be disinvited from the symposium, seeing how he enjoys the favor of both Pope Francis and Cardinal Wuerl. In retrospect I believe there were several factors, and some lessons we can learn in combating similar threats to Church integrity that will present themselves in the future. I'll list them in "bullet" format.

- Prayer for God's protection Nothing of this sort can happen without God's grace. We must continue to pray. Frequent the sacraments and pray the Rosary daily. Mention these threats by name when you pray.
- Social media Martin himself alluded to that as he blamed "far right sites" for stopping his appearances. Please watch not only the sites he mentioned but smaller sites as well. Often it is the smaller sites that will carry news pertaining to their localities; these also deserve the attention of faithful Catholics local to those areas. The mainstream media (including diocesan publications and faux-katholic liberal rags) are not reliable sources of information. Of course when you see topics such as these, pass them along your own social sites and email lists.
- Action It is critical that when we are notified of these situations, that we not only pray but we must act as well. Such action will include:
- Phone calls Martin specifically blamed phone calls to Theological College as a primary cause for his ejection from the symposium. If you called to protest his planned appearance, you share the credit just as much as any one of us bloggers.
- Boycotts I'd suspect that many callers to CU made plain that if Martin did appear, that they'd never contribute anymore to them. Sometimes money talks louder than Catholic duty, so let's not be reticent about using that language.
- Protests/pickets One of my facebook friends, when she learned of the cancellation, remarked that she now "had the day off". She was planning to protest the appearance. Even the possibility of a protest is a strong deterrent to misbehavior.
Make no mistake about this. The Theological College did not cancel Martin because they suddenly remembered that they were Catholics. Far from it. Take a look at their announcement below; they make plain why they earned the nickname "theological closet". They cancelled because we behaved like the Church Militant (not the site) that we are. Let's take heart from this and remember, for these situations will crop up again - although they might crop up with less frequency now.

Why We Blog - From The Remnant
Coming from the Remnant, this is good to know. It helps reassure us that we aren't speaking into a vacuum.
"Apparently, traditional Catholic bloggers have gotten under Francis’ thin skin. The underlying cause of the Pope’s angst is that the conservative Catholic bloggers and websites are making their voice heard by daring to promote the Catholic faith and exposing the papal plots and diabolical alliances."
I commend the entire article to your reading. If you feel called to join us with your own blog or other writing apostolate, please do so. There never will be too many of us. Thank you.

The Church Of Nice Is The Real Cesspool Of Hatred
We haven't had much from the #Rosicagate Department lately, but today Father Thomas Rosica has again made a fool of himself. First, check out this anthology of articles regarding Father Rosica and the animosity that he obviously harbors to those telling the truth regarding his progressive shenanigans. His vituperation inspired him to file lawsuit against Vox Cantoris, if you'll recall; the Vatican, embarrassed by his obvious tempter tantrum, ordered him to drop it and save what remained of his face.
Well, judging from this piece that appears on the Crud site, Rosica still has plenty of axes to grind against us Catholic bloggers. In his rather questionable judgment, we are "creating cesspools of hatred". Then he goes on to spout vitriolic descriptions of us being:
Well, judging from this piece that appears on the Crud site, Rosica still has plenty of axes to grind against us Catholic bloggers. In his rather questionable judgment, we are "creating cesspools of hatred". Then he goes on to spout vitriolic descriptions of us being:
- "obsessed, scrupulous"
- "disturbed, broken, angry individuals"
- "trolling pontiffs, holy executioners"
Coming from him, these choice descriptions are badges of honor! But seriously; he sputters like that, and then has the audacity to accuse us of creating "cesspools of hatred"? At best, I think we have a case of "pot calling kettle black". What's really happening is that we bloggers are not allowing him and his compatriots to have a monopoly on social media and we aren't allowing them to dictate the terms and conditions of public discourse. We can and will call out their dissidence, blasphemies and heresies. I highly suspect that motivated his tirade in Crud and possibly goaded him into trying to sue Vox Cantoris.
By the way - Rosica still occupies his position in the Vatican. I suspect his employment there does not so much continue in spite of his hatred for faithful Catholic media but because of it. Given what we've seen from the Vatican - and the pope - over these past few months, I think my suspicions have valid basis.
Another way to put this situation is that those of Rosica's ilk resent us combating their "church of nice" instead of following their lead like sheeple. Read what Michael Voris has to say about how the "church of nice" is the antithesis of true charity. Father Rosica inadvertently illustrates that fact with his screed in Crud. Did you notice, as you read Rosica's words, that he didn't offer one objective rebuttal to anything we've broached over the years? He cannot for his "church of nice" isn't at all interested in objective truth, and in the God reflected in that truth.
We must continue to pray for those seduced by the "church of nice". We will also continue to speak the truth.
We must continue to pray for those seduced by the "church of nice". We will also continue to speak the truth.

CRS Pouts After Its Well-Deserved Spankings
As announced a few days ago, Rick Estridge, the sodomite who occupied a high place at the Catholic Relief Services, has resigned. He apparently was given quite a "consolation prize" - all from your dollars, be it through governmental grants (your tax dollars at work!) or the in-pew collections.
Zenit has published a statement by Carolyn Woo, president of CRS, on the Estridge debacle. Read it. Nowhere does she accept responsibility for harboring someone guilty of flagrant immorality. Rather, she voices "strong objections" to Lepanto, Church Militant and us bloggers who merely expose their misdeeds.
Today's Vortex takes Woo to task. I'll also post a link to Church Militant, for today Voris confronted Woo in person; you'll see her scurry away to avoid him in the video on that post.
Donate not one more penny to them. That beast must be starved to death.

500 Faithful Priests In England Beg For Faithful Synod - Will Their Request Be Granted?
From Zenit we read the Holy Father's general audience as he made mention of the Ordinary Synod to occur next October. In one of the lines he is quoted as saying, "All -- Pope, Cardinals, Bishops, priests, men and women religious, lay faithful – we are all called to pray for the Synod. There is need of this, not of gossip!" No doubt serious prayer to God is needed for this meeting, but what is meant by "gossip"??
I'm not going to pull punches! I've reason to believe that by "gossip" he is referring to the watchful eye that many of us bloggers have had, and by the light of scrutiny that we shone on the proceedings there. No doubt we were of assistance to stalwarts such as Cardinal Burke, Muller, Pell and others as they tried to stem the onslaught of rank modernism and yes, heresy, that otherwise would have gushed forth from the sin-nod last October. I'm certain that Kasper, Marx, Baldaserri and others chafed and squinted at the light we were shining in their eyes. Gentlemen, it is precisely because we are praying that we will continue to broadcast whatever comes forth next October.
Speaking of prayer, I understand that approximately 500 Catholic priests of England and Wales have petitioned the synod to stand firm for the perennial teaching on marriage. While I applaud these priests and am grateful for their efforts, I am a bit saddened, too. Why? Very simple! Why, in the name of heaven, would these priests believe that they need to ask bishops and cardinals to adhere to Catholic teaching? Shouldn't it be understood that it's second nature to prelates to do so? Yes, it should be understood, but that is not the case and these poor priests realize that. Case in point - they were rebuked for standing for Church teaching by a local prelate, Cardinal Vincent Nichols. Please read Damian Thompson's analysis of this action.
I just noticed something on Facebook. Apparently Cardinal Nichols is sympathetic to sodomite relationships. While he upheld marriage per se, he did not denounce the mortal sin of sodomy. Might this have had something to do with his snit against the faithful priests?
So once again we have a prelate chastising faithful Catholics under his charge for speaking and acting like - faithful Catholics! The number of these incidents, including the one I mentioned in Tuesday's post, is reaching epidemic proportions! I don't think the end is in sight! Again, we bloggers will shine the spotlight on these misdeeds of the clerics.

From The #Rosicagate Department - The Underlying Madness
Note before we begin. Yes, we have both a new "department" and hashtag here. I will be using them and invite others to do the same as new developments will undoubtedly unfold.
The Lepanto post linked to an address given by, and an article by Fr. Rosica. They are fascinating for they reveal the true dissident mindset of this Vatican official.
First, let's look at an address that Rosica gave at Loyola University in Baltimore. The Catholic Review published a transcript of that. Please read it on their site. I'll highlight some rather revealing snippets from that. I'll do that "bullet style".

- Speaking of Pope Francis' election to the papacy he asks "How can we describe the sense of springtime that has come upon the church?" What??!!? This is rather revealing of his attitude towards Pope Benedict XVI and perhaps toward Pope St John Paul II. Further talk of "revolution of tenderness" underscores this point.
- He writes "He has declared that the church’s main mission would no longer be as a lead combatant in the culture wars." Let's clarify terms, shall we? By "culture wars" we are talking about the core spirituality and morality that define western civilization. Western civilization is being threatened with the acceptance of abortion, homosexual lifestyles, contraception, euthanasia. Additionally, western civilization is unraveling because of an abandonment, if not outright rejection, of its Christian heritage and history. Part and parcel of the Church's primary mission - to save souls - is to combat the moral rot that will lead to the damnation of souls. As the Church established by Jesus Christ Himself, it is only fitting that the Church retains and even expands its leadership role in the "culture wars".
- He asked and answered a question: "What is the most important achievement of Pope Francis? He has rebranded Catholicism and the papacy." Well, he certainly has done that to the latter; but why should that be considered an "accomplishment"? The papacy is 2000 years old, established by Jesus Christ Himself. What? Did Our Lord not do a good enough job of "branding the papacy"?
- In short, Rosica has shown his disdain for the history and traditions of the Church by portraying the Pope as some avant-garde person who will attempt to set the Church on a new course. While his portrayal of the pope's intents may well be correct, his enthusiasm over the de facto mutation of the papacy is nonetheless regrettable.
This next article he wrote on the occasion of Ted Kennedy's very public funeral. In it he excoriates those of us who protested the laudatory accolades afforded to someone who used his position to foment the murders of millions of tiny children in their mothers' wombs. I won't pick apart his numerous logical fallacies regarding the funeral per se, nor even of his disparagement of concerned pro-life blogs. I do want to point out some odd contrasts between what he wrote in this article and his actions against Vox Cantoris.
- He says the writings of pro-life bloggers reveal "a new form of self-righteousness, condemnation and gnosticism reveals authors who behave as little children bullying one another around in schoolyards- casting stones, calling names, and wreaking havoc in the Church today!" Speaking of "bullying" and "wreaking havoc", how may we characterize his legal threats against a Catholic blogger?
- He writes "What such people fail to realize is that their messages are ultimately screamed into a vacuum. No one but their own loud crowd is really listening." Well, that's not true and he knows it. Else, why is he attempting to sue Vox Cantoris into silence - and to intimidate the rest of us?
I refer you to the Lepanto post for more ironies and contradictions evident between Rosica's lofty words and his despicable actions towards Vox Cantoris. I publicly call upon the Vatican to rein in Father Rosica as his actions are besmirching their appearance before the eyes of the world.

Catholic Freedom Of The Press
Yesterday's Vortex speaks to several things. Voris addressed the "good old boy" network in the Catholic hierarchy as they try to undermine Holy Mother Church under a cloud of secrecy. He's also addressing the existence of those of us faithful Catholics who simply won't allow these progressive lemmings to get away with that status quo any longer. This blog was started for these very reasons as they exist in the Archdiocese of Washington. In his words, "the Catholic free press has finally arrived and is ready to get down to business."
That last truth is what causes the Catholic progressives to gnash their teeth. I've no doubt that the attack on Vox Cantoris by Father Rosica is part and parcel of a campaign to derail us. Of course they'd like that accomplished well before "Sin-Nod 2" next October. Father Rosica et al, that ain't happening!

Le Figaro Interviews Cardinal Burke
Lifesite News reported on an interview given by Cardinal Burke this week to Le Figaro (Rorate Caeli has the entire English translation). Among other things His Eminence said (quoting LSN), "it is amazing that those who have defended Catholic teaching and practice on withholding Communion from those in publicly irregular sexual situations, are being accused of being against the Holy Father, and of not being in harmony with the Church.”
His Eminence has suffered persecution in spades. His ouster from key Vatican positions happened in retaliation for his defense of the Teachings of the Church and of Jesus Christ against the progressive rot within the Vatican.
I and several of my fellow bloggers have experienced a microcosm of these accusations. For example, I've been told that I'm "down on the pope" and "mean", etc. Clearly we have a classic case of "if you don't like the message shoot the messenger". It won't work for the truth will come out.
By God's grace we will continue to defend Holy Mother Church in whatever way we can. We hope and pray more will join us.
May all my readers, with their families and friends, have blessed Christmas!
UPDATE! CASE IN POINT! The Catholic bishops of England and Wales are accusing faithful Catholics, and those who stood up to the Kasper bullying at the sin-nod, of being Donatists. They call their screed "Reflection Document for Clergy". LifeSite News has the full scoop on this document that gives thinly-disguised carte-blanche approval for "katholycs" thumbing their noses at the Church's teachings - with assistance from dissident clergy.
So I guess that makes me a neo-pelagian donatist, mean-spirited person, in the eyes of progressives and libs. Coming from them, that's a badge of honor.

Mainstream Catholic Media - Their Sinful Disregard For The Truth
Last year Greta Van Suserten interviewed Sarah Palin. Both agreed that the mainstream media had become partners of the Obamanistas by covering up their dangerous derelictions of duty. I'll post the video and below that, I have some words for the Catholic mainstream media.
What these ladies said goes double for the Catholic mainstream media. By that, I mean the Catholic News Service (arm of the USCCB), all the diocesan media outlets (our own Catholic Standard leads the pack in mediocrity). I regret that I must add EWTN to that group; were Mother Angelica of decent health, I'm sure EWTN would never have devolved into a "church of nice" brown-nosing outfit.
I started this blog because the Catholic Standard would not address real issues facing Catholics. Most notably at the time, they wouldn't address the terrible disobedience to Canon 915 that was demonstrated by Cardinal McCarrick, then Archbishop of Washington. Until that time, the Standard at least had a "letters to the editor" section. At that time, the section was permanently discontinued.
Then, of course, there was the incident two Lents ago, at my own Church, when a priest at my parish actually obeyed Canon 915 and was promptly thrown under the bus for it. Remember Father Marcel Guarnizo? The incident made international news. Not one peep was mentioned in the Standard, nor was it mentioned in Our Parish Times, published by the Catholic Businessmen's Network. That is nothing short of dishonesty by omission, and a complete disregard for standards of journalism.
So if the "lamestream media" (to coin Palin's term) won't do their job, it's up to us -the laity to do it for them. Hence the existence of this blog and many others (some on the right tool bar). That is one of the points made in yesterday's Vortex. We need to be talking about these matters. We need to shine the light on cockroaches and to do so relentlessly. We are the Church Militant, not the Church Mellow nor the Church Milquetoast nor the Church Meelymouth.
Ora et labora!

Cardinal Burke's Straight-Forward Interview In Vienna - And Why We Bloggers Write
He participated in a panel discussion in Vienna on November 4th, as he was presenting the book "Remaining In The Truth Of Christ". His Eminence stated that he and the other writers wrote it to rebut the "claims of Cardinal Kasper"; Cardinal Burke is far too restrained, but I'm not. Those "claims of Cardinal Kasper" are outright heresy. So who is cashiered from the Vatican and who retains his position of influence? The moral responsibility for that travesty lies squarely at the feet of Pope Francis, but I digress.
I will link to Gloria.tv's post, with video of the discussion. Note at 12:41 when he that "one of the profound sadnesses of the synod. at least in the first week of the synod, is the seeming forgetfulness of the Magisterium. It was as if the church for the first time, addressing the question of marriage and teaching about it.." At 29:04 he called the interim relatio "one of the saddest documents that I could ever imagine coming from the church.."
While it's a little over 40 minutes long, I'd suggest you listen to it. And by all means, if you haven't done so already, get your own copy of "Remaining In The Truth Of Christ".
Let me raise another point. If not for the efforts of Gloria.tv, Vortex, many good Catholic bloggers and yes, Yours Truly, you may not have heard half of what Cardinal Burke and other faithful Catholics had to say about the SinNod. Another blogger makes this point quite well. We humbly endeavor to highlight the truth that other mainstream Catholic media won't broach. We shine light on cockroaches, as it were. We will continue to do so.

Catholic Mainstream Media - Thoroughly Corrupt
I've known for some time now that the mainstream Catholic media is nothing more than mouthpieces for the US bishops. About 10 years ago, Cardinal McCarrick caused much rancor when he made plain his disdain for Canon 915. Hundreds of people wrote letters to the Catholic Standard (archdiocesan paper) to protest. At that time, the Standard abandoned its "letters to the editor" column. It was that decision (among other factors) that impelled me to start this blog's sister website and to start shining the light on nonsense occurring here and elsewhere.
There is another bi-monthly publication by the Catholic Business Network that focuses on parishes (and advertisements for its members). It's called Our Parish Times. The CBN has always had permission to distribute OPT in parishes and as bulletin inserts. In the beginning, they were definitely a grade or two above the Standard. They weren't afraid to tackle some of the real issues facing the church. However, once Bob McCarthy's column (the best one) disappeared from OPT, it because another milquetoast happy-clappy rag just like the Standard. I might point out that when Father Guarnizo was treated so shamefully by the Archdiocese of Washington two lents ago, neither the Standard nor OPT saw fit to utter a peep about it - although the incident made international news.
Below the jump break I post two Vortex videos that detail just how pervasive is the corruption of mainstream Catholic media - and why we bloggers are desperately needed.

Catholic Bloggers/Writers - Drop The Polite Silence And Speak Out
As most long-time readers of this blog know, I have broached problems with various actions and words that have issued forth from either the Vatican or from Pope Francis himself. I have found them to be at odds with revealed truth to varying degrees. Other Catholic bloggers have chosen to remain silent on these matters; until now I have not objected to their silence regarding foibles from the Vatican. However, I am more and more finding such silence to be indefensible.
The tipping point occurred Friday, with the Pope's bizarre statement that there should be "legitimate redistribution of economic benefit by the state". I will be blunt. In shilling for socialism, he is advocating that the entire world adopt a philosophy of economic chaos that has visited upon millions of people abject misery and even death.
My fellow Catholic bloggers, in the face of this statement that is beyond reckless, you can no longer afford to maintain facades of polite silence and undue deference. Your silence may well be interpreted as tacit approval of this serious error; do you want any resulting spiritual fallout laid to your charge? Your silence in this matter might be construed as an obligation to accept every utterance from the pope as though it had the weight of infallible dogma. Do you really want this "redistribution" nonsense to be ascribed as having the same weight as the teaching on the Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament? Realize what a disaster that would be since the previous pontiffs (during the past 130 years) have not spared any breath in denouncing socialism as the spiritual and moral evil that it is. Sensing the inherent evil of socialism, good Catholics may feel constrained to leave the Church - if we don't raise our voices to make plain that socialism is abhorrent to God and His Church and that the Pope is dead wrong on this most crucial matter.
There are a few others who are speaking out, and for these fellow bloggers I am most grateful. One of them is A Blog for Dallas Area Catholics. He put up a post a few days ago as he himself tried to understand why so many are playing "the three monkeys". Read what he has to say, particularly of ultramontanism. Related to that, he links to another article from the Blaze that also deserves consideration. This author mentions the cults of personality that have arisen around all the recent popes, including Francis. These cults seem comprised of people who do want to be good Catholics but who have lacked (often through no fault of their own) proper education in the most basic of Catholic truth. He points out that in the Church's 2000-year history, some of the popes have been very unsavory characters, and that we should not be surprised to find that any pontiff is not an angel in disguise.
Fellow bloggers/writers, no good will come from stifling the truth any longer. Please end your silence now.

Msgr Pope's Piece On Catholics Who Raise Their Voices
Msgr Charles Pope of Washington DC recently wrote on his blog (hosted by the Archdiocese of Washington) a piece called "Is Being A Bishop Like Herding Cats? It Shouldn't Be". I urge all to read it, along with the comments. In that piece, he laments what he calls a "dismissive attitude" towards the bishops, something that he calls "a common attitude among many theological and ecclesial conservatives as well." Unfortunately, Msgr speaks too much in generalities; without specific examples, it's difficult to discern the impetus behind his comments.
Note: this piece is a long read, so..

God Works Through "Curmudgeonly Bloggers" Again!
Last week I highlighted a Vortex episode that exposed a planned Qu'ran reading during Holy Mass in a Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC. Again, when light shines, the cockroaches flee! We just learned that the bishop of Charlotte, Peter Jugis, ordered that the planned debacle be canceled. We thank the good bishop that he protected his flock from this planned exercise in blasphemy and heresy. We thank God for His intervention, and we also thank Him for allowing us in some small way to be His instruments: both in enterprises such as the Vortex, Lifesite News, etc, the efforts of bloggers, and the efforts of all who alerted Bishop Jugis to malfeasance in his diocese.
The internet and our usage of this critical tool has proven in this case, and in the Notre Dame case (see previous post) to be pivotal in correcting serious error. We need to use this tool well. Please see the Vortex episode below for more explanation on how the laity can use the internet for good. Click here if you can't see embedded video.

Fellow Bloggers! We ARE Making A Difference!
Thanks to my friend at Throw the Bums Out for picking up on this.
Here's the acknowledgement right here. It does appear that the author doesn't particularly appreciate it, but at least he does acknowledge our role, something that the head-in-dirt bishops refuse to voice.
So to my fellow "Taliban Catholics": keep up the good work!

Who Says Blogging Has No Impact?
Sometimes the biggest indicators we have of the fruit of our labors are the snit-fits in which the liberal, progressive types engage because we dare call them what they are. Read this piece by Rachel Zoll of the Associated Press. According to her, we're on a mission to "purge dissenters". Well, not quite! We're simply callin a spade a spade, so that the truth can be made known.
The fact is that we cannot change the truth. It is given to us by Jesus Christ, who is Himself the Way, Truth and the Life. He mediates this truth and His grace through the Catholic Church. No one can change it or tweek it into something to his/her own liking. We simply seek to cut through the politcially-correct smoke and mirrors that humanists, progressives, socialists, etc use to delude as many as they can.
I'm glad to see a piece like this. There are only two real reactions to a proper presentation of the truth - accpetance or rejection. Neutrality is not an option. Some obviously don't like the truth. In that case, all we can do is pray - and keep proclaiming it.
