From The Niggers Of The New Age Department - Two Katholyc Lap-Dog Groups For Hillary

Last week we learned from WikiLeaks that John Podesta helped establish two faux-Catholic groups to usher what he called a "Catholic spring".  Those two outfits are Catholics United and Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good.  We've known for a long time that these two groups are inimical to the One True Faith.

Church Militant dug out an expose they did six years ago on these two outfits and others.  I agree that the material therein needs to be reviewed.  Just bear in mind that this video was made while Benedict XVI still occupied the papal throne.  I'm linking to my six-year old post as it has other relevant links.  At the time I wrote it, the expose hadn't been put in youtube format; since then it has, allowing me to post it below.

From The Francis-Effect Department: John Gehring Carries On At NCR

"NCR" in my title stands for Not-At-All Catholic Reporter.  In his latest plop in the online edition of that rag, John Gehring had the hypocritical gall to call a pro-life governor a "cafeteria Catholic".  There are so many errors here one scarcely knows where to begin - but I'll give it my heroic effort.

Before I begin, have you ever noticed something odd about Gehring and other progressive "katholyc" authors?  They often chide Catholics who champion pro-life causes for not adhering to the (discredited) seamless-garment ideology.  Never have I ever read of them rebuking pro-abortion politicians for anything, let alone their shilling for baby-murder.  I find that to be rather telling regarding their own convictions about the lives of the unborn.  And get a load of Gehring's Twitter page!  But I digress!

The backdrop for Gehring's dribble is the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast.  Right in the second paragraph is one whopper.  He claims that capital punishment, war and "other moral issues" clash with traditional Catholic teaching.  No, they don't.  There are conditions that must be met before capital punishment or war are engaged, but they are not the intrinsic evils that abortion and contraception are.  I'll link now to a very pertinent article written by Father C. John McCloskey, showing the place capital punishment has in the realm of Catholic moral theology.  And there is this, from the Catechism of Pope St Pius X: "It is lawful to kill when fighting in a just war; when carrying out by order of the Supreme Authority a sentence of death in punishment of a crime; and, finally, in cases of necessary and lawful defense of one’s own life against an unjust aggressor.”

Further down Gehring whines, "But when a national Catholic event that attracts leading Republican politicians and Catholic bishops consistently sends a message that being pro-life or pro-family can be reduced to a narrow agenda that aligns with one political party, that is a problem."  If he believes that is a "problem", did he bother to ask how that "problem" came into being?  Which of the two main political parties has abortion rights and "gay" rights ensconced within its official party platform?  It's simply fact that the pro-life position is more closely aligned with the GOP platform - but that's only because the Democrats formally reject all things having to do with protecting innocent babies in their wombs!  Why does Gehring ignore that?  I believe there is a deliberated reason for that!

At the bottom of the article we read that Gehring is Catholic Program Director at Faith in Public Life.  My Catholic Media Coalition colleage Stephanie Block did several exposes of FPL (see here and here) several years ago, exposing its rather squalid alliances with dissident organizations such as Dignity and Call to Action and their own nefarious activities.

Three years ago The Blaze ran an article that revealed the funding that FPL received from George Soros.  It also detailed a "behind the scenes" media campaign that Gehring undertook to undermine the bishops' efforts to combat the Obamacare contraception mandate.  A prior position Gehring held was Communications Director for Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good.  I've written about them and their undermining of Catholic teaching and the funding they've received from (guess!) George Soros!  Are we sensing a pattern here?

At the Not-At-All Catholic Reporter, John Gehring is quite at home, for many (if not most) there, when it comes to matters Catholic, don't know apple butter from cow pie.

Obama-Appointed Former Vatican Ambassador Implicated In Sexual Harrassment

Miguel Diaz, theology professor at University of Dayton, will be transferring to Loyola University of Chicago.  This move comes on the heels of an investigation that he sexually harassed a married couple who also work at the University of Dayton.  No, that is not a typo.  He allegedly harassed the couple - both husband and wife.  If there's such a thing as an "equal opportunity harasser", Diaz might be the prototype.

The investigation results are that it is "likely" that the harassment occurred.  But should this be any surprise?  Let's look a bit more into Diaz's history.  This Catholic News Agency article sums it up.  He has been a member of the Soros-funded "Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good".  He has contributed to Obama's election (and rewarded with the Vatican appointment).  While claiming to be "pro-life", he signed a statement supporting the nomination of Kathleen Sebelius as HHS Secretary.

So what's the connection between his dubious associations and this current allegation of misconduct?  How about "lex orandi, lex credendi, lex vivendi"?  If one is going to associate with progressives and in fact be a progressive himself, it's far more likely that he/she will adopt liberal and libertine morals.  Deviate from the Magisterium in one or few respects, and if you don't repent, the moral contagion will corrode the rest of your life.  Miguel Diaz may be just the latest piece of evidence for that truism.

Another Progressive Tentacle Curling Around Catholic Donations

This one is none other than Alexia Kelley, who recently assumed the presidency of FADICA, Foundations and Donors Interested in Catholic Activities.  This organization seems to have influence regarding the donations of some Catholic donors to Catholic causes - or causes that claim to be Catholic (as the case may be).

Kelley's resume includes the following:

• senior official for President Barack Obama’s Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships – two at the Health and Human Services department’s center as its director, and the last as senior policy advisor at the White House office (from the NCR article)".  Given the HHS mandate that has spewed forth from Kathleen Sebelius's brain, I daresay that Kelley's influence there has been, at best, a dud.  If she did have any "influence" at HHS, I shudder (for her sake) to think what that may have been.
• a ten-year stint with the national CCHD.  This blog and many other outlets have been detailing the mischief wrought by the national CCHD in funneling our donation dollars to inimical organizations.  If she had any voice in such direction, one can just imagine the direction she might give to FADICA donors.
• a "religious advisor" for John Kerry's presidential campaign. Like Drinan advised the Kennedys?
• co-founder of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good.  I've written many times on this Soros-funded CINO group.  Read my previous blog posts and be reminded of all the squalid undertakings of CACG over the years - remembering that Kelley is a founder of that bunch.

I would advise any Catholic who is serious about the usage of their donation dollars to stay clear of FADICA while Alexia Kelley is at its helm.

Former ADW Official Affiliated With Catholics In Alliance For The Common Good

I wrote two years ago that Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good might have been scrapped by its money sources - George Soros being the chief among them.  Well, either I was wrong or it's simply been resurrected for the present presidential campaign.  Do read that post and the links therein for important information regarding CACG and its rather nefarious origins and associations.

As I was looking into their site to work on another post, I came across their Board of Advisers and one name immediately caught my eye - Mary McGinnity.  She was the Executive Director for Social Concerns at the Archdiocese of Washington until two years ago (and now heads the Ignatian Volunteer Corps).  I have no way of knowing if there was time overlap between her appointment to the CACG Board of Advisers and her employment at the Archdiocese of Washington.

I could opine that McGinnity was merely exercising abysmally poor judgment when she affixed her name to their Advisers' roster, but I'm not so naive.  How could she not know that CACG was founded by faux-katholycs who worked on election campaigns for John Kerry and Kathleen Sebelius?  For further reading, I refer you to this Pewsitter article.  Of course, as revealed yesterday, two of CACG's directors are members of "Catholics for Obama".

Consider that McGinnity led the "social concerns" office of the Archdiocese of Washington for several years.  Now consider the mindset of one who aligns his/herself with such an outfit as is Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good.  She had to be approving of its goals (at least in good part) to be affiliated with them.  Such a mindset helped set the tone for some of the nonsense coming from that office: Climate Change Covenant, promotion of Just Faith and yes, next to nothing from the pro-life office (for which I do not fault those individuals).

Quite a bit of the chancery still remains infected with progressive rot (with a few heroic souls trying to stay afloat).  Pray for our poor church and let's continue to shine the light of truth where it so sorely lacks.

CUA Faculty Affiliated With Catholics For Obama

My colleague, "An Archdiocese of Washington DC Catholic" pointed out that Mark Tuohey, a CUA faculty member, is affiliated with Catholics for Obama.  Well, so is fellow CUA professor Stephen Schneck.  Both, by the way, are also on the Board of Directors for Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good,

Look in the middle of the page - Sister Jamie T. Phelps.  Sister??  Here's a brief biography - she too has been affiliated with CUA.  Will her Dominican superiors speak truth to her?  Don't hold your breath!

Also notice that John Sweeney, buddy of Cardinal McCarrick, has voiced his support for a pro-baby-murder candidate.  I'm not surprised.

It looks like we might have to boycott the second collection for CUA - until its leadership finds the will to rein in (or maybe fire) its pro-abortion faculty.

More On Soros's Stranglehood On Mainstream Media

In May I linked to reports that detail how much of the mainstream-lamebrain media is heavily influenced, if not controlled, by George Soros.  A few days ago, the Media Research Center also published a report to which I now link.  There may well be overlap between the two, but please read both and follow the links therein.  The latter contains names of prominent media personnel who occupy positions in Soros-controlled or Soros-funded entities.  It's quite eye-opening.

The tentacles of the Soros squid can be found everywhere - even within organizations that bear the name "Catholic".  Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good is one such group that comes to mind, having received $200k from the Soros-controlled Open Society Institute.  Another organization, established by the USCCB is Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC).  Please read this from America's Survival, Inc. as it further emphasizes what has been previously reported on this blog - the ties that Soros has to the USCCB itself.

Sweeney Gets Dressed Down At CUA Symposium

In late April, I advised you of a "symposium" on Rerum Novarum to be held at Catholic University of America on May 2-3.  I opined that it would be nothing more than a progressive brain-washing session.  It turns out that is precisely what it was, and the speakers didn't bother to conceal their agendas.

Accuracy in Media has a report on what transpired.  (By the way - I forgot to mention in that April post that prior to his taking over the AFL-CIO, Sweeney was CEO of the SEIU).  Sweeney went into a tirade about the governor of Wisconsin reining in the runaway unions there, going so far as to insinuate (incorrectly) that Scott Walker was out of step with Jesus Christ Himself (Of course the "separation of church and state" crowd has uttered not a peep - surprised?  But I digress).  Behaving like the typical arrogant progressive wonk, he then proceeded to badmouth the Catholic University itself, calling them "union-busters".  Watch that video on the AIM site, as well as the others.  For those who can't see embedded video, click here for the Sweeney clip.

But apparently Sweeney got his comeuppance right then and there.  CUA officials read a statement that accused Sweeney of lying, leaving Sweeney stunned into silence.  Oh, to have been a fly on the wall at that meeting!   Now here's some more delicious irony.  That statement was read by Stephen Schenk, chair of the department that sponsored the symposium.  He apparently was ordered to read that, and he must have done so reluctantly.  Bear in mind that Schenk sits on the board of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good - a group that draws significant funding from George Soros.  Moreover, he was one of the lead writers in the letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner that accused him of being out of step with Church teaching. 

I'm sensing a common theme here.  Various progressive wonks with ties to progressive atheist billionare George Soros accuse conservative officials of "not following Catholic teaching" because they don't throw money at unions and governmental bureaucracies.  Georgy-boy seems to have lots of fingers in lots of pies, doesn't he?

Getting back to the rebuke that Sweeney received, I haven't learned yet of where a full text of that can be reviewed.  I'd love to see it.  My hat's off to the CUA officials who caused that to be read to Sweeney's face.  I only hope that Cardinal Emeritus McCarrick doesn't see fit to assuage Sweeney's ego with some "honor", as he did when twice we picketed Sweeney in past years.

If that doesn't happen, there's hope!  Perhaps Sweeney can pop over to the "church of earthaluia" and do some duets with Bertha Lewis (see preceding post).  That might be a nice career move for him!

Catholic Bloggers! Contest Time!!!

First, I'll provide some background for this proposed contest.

Remember the post about Catholics In Allliance For The Common Good?  Well, it turns out that Chris Korzen, formerly affiliated with CACG and current director of Catholics United, announced that the CU group is launching its own news organization.  Catholic News Agency has the full story.

Notice that he would not reveal how it will be financed; wanna bet that Soros will be helping in that regard?  He did say that one purpose of this organization will be "reporting on the activities of CNA and EWTN."  Sheesh!  Why bother with a whole new organization?  Why not just put up a one-page site that has the URLs to both CNA and ETWN?  I suppose they want to put their own special leftist flavor to it.  Such is their First Amendment right.   When asked about whether or not this organization will be used to elect Democrats in November, Korzen was rather cagey.  So what?  We already know the answer to that question now, don't we?

Of course, they'll have much news from the progressive catholycs to report, as things over in that sector are so vibrant, so relevant.  Behold!



On second thought, maybe they had better just stick with the Democrat politicking and the snooping!

The news of this watchfulness, however, leaves me feeling, well, INSULTED!!  Aren't we Catholic bloggers  troublesome enough to Korzen that they aren't snooping on us, and "reporting on our actvities"?  Golly-gee-whiz!!!  Doesn't that just hurt my poor widdle feel-bads?  Boo-hoo!  Sniffle!  Whine! Sob!  Waah!

Now that I've dried my tears, it's time to do something about that dismal state of affairs - hence, the contest to which I alluded at the beginning of this post.  Bloggers!  Let's see who will be the first amongst us to cause angst and consternation with Korzen and cabal.  We know how we can determine that now, don't we?  I haven't figured out a prize yet, but we can work on that later.  Have fun!

Catholics In Alliance For The Common Good - Defunct?

I sure hope so, and according to this Lifenews article, it seems that CACG simply outlived its usefulness in the eyes of its chief sugar-daddy, George Soros.  Tom McClusky of Family Research Council opines that the main intention of CACG was to divide the Catholic vote to get Obama elected.  After that happened, CACG defended Obama's appearance at Notre Dame in May 2009 and tried to go to bat for the CCHD after we shed much needed light on that corrupt cabal.

Various members of CACG have gone onto other mischief, as stated in the above links.  We need to keep shedding the light on this corrupt network.  To Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, I say "goodbye and good riddance"!

Catholic Investigative Agency - Part 2

A few months ago, I published a link to a special series done by Real Catholic TV, called "Catholic Investigative Agency".  A new installment is now available.  Since it's too long for youtube, it needs to be viewd on their site at this link.  It is approximately 90 minutes long, but well worth the time investment.

In this segment, Michael Voris explores the deliberate attempts of the progressive types to further infiltrate the Catholic Church for the express purpose of compromising and watering down her teachings on morals.  Note carefully a few things:

• Voris points out that Catholic moral teaching, as found in all Papal documents from Leo XIII onward, makes clear that the focus is on the individual and not some "collective".  I'll elaborate more on that later - but let's note the fact that we're now in the Independence Day weekend.  The two are related.
• He delves a bit into the backgrounds of the founders of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good (CACG).  I've blogged a bit on this problematic outfit.  Despite their claims of "non-partisanship", they are very "partisan", as in the "Party of Death" (Archbishop Burke's very accurate term for the Democrats).
• He delves into the writings of CACG's chairman, Alfred M. Rotondaro.  I went to the newsmeat website and found his campaign contributions.  See for yourself here.  Recipients include Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Patrick Leahy, Bob Casey Jr., Mary Landrieu, John Edwards - the usual cabal.  Here is a link pertaining to the article about which Voris spoke, and here's the link to the orginal Huffington Post article.
• A founder of CACG is Tom Periello, a pro-abort congressperson from Virginia (oh, I forgot!  Rotondaro contributed to him, too).  Guess how he voted on the Obama Hell Bill?
• Another board member is Tom Chabolla.  Does that name sound familiar?  Reminder - he's high up in the SEIU.  That's the union that supplied many of the thugs that trampled all over the private property of the Bank of America official, terrorizing the minor child.  I guess that's their version of "the common good".
• A major funder is (surprise!) George Soros.  He funded a lot of the legal push, if you recall, to further the legalized murder of Terri Schiavo.  He wrote a book called The Age of Fallibility, in which he said, "the main obstacle to a stable and just world order is the United States".  I suppose we could get the book, but really - he shouldn't get any more royalties from that crap.
• As I said in the first bullet, we celebrate this weekend the signing of the Declaration of Independence.  This document, along with the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights, focus on the rights of the individual person as being bestowed upon him/her by God.  We see in this current administration, headed by the Messiah Most Miserable, a push towards subsuming the individual into a "collective".  I'd recommend a book that delves much into that, along with the psychologicial anomalies that warp common sense into a "progressive" mentality.  The book is: The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness by Lyle H Rossiter, Jr, M.D.  I got mine from Worldnet Daily, but I'm sure it can be acquired elsewhere.

"Right-Wing Bloggers" Attack Poor Little CCHD!

Doesn't that just make you want to grab a hanky and sob your eyes out? Such mean-spirited (another liberal buzz-word right out of Alinskyan text books) slobs we are, for telling the truth about the CCHD. Now from whom does this snivvel-drivvel originate? For this we can thank "Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good" - or so they call themselves. Here's their desperate plea for assistance against our truth-telling.

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has funded thousands of projects that have lifted people out of poverty and given our struggling neighbors the opportunity to live in dignity. For nearly 40 years, CCHD has empowered communities through grassroots organizing and economic development. The campaign has been on the frontlines of community development, neighborhood change, and social justice longer than any other church-sponsored domestic program.
Now CCHD is under attack and needs our support!
In recent months, the campaign has been attacked by right-wing bloggers and partisan ideologues. While they have successfully pressured CCHD to de-fund groups that have taken some positions opposed to church teaching, these critics have also launched a concerted effort to exploit the ACORN scandal to get CCHD to stop ALL funding for community organizing efforts. At least five dioceses have cancelled this year's collection. Several bishops have threatened to raise the issue next month at the U.S. bishops' annual meeting in Baltimore ...

The campaign embodies the Catholic call to have a "preferential option for the poor." Stand up against the extreme voices, and stand in solidarity with those fighting for justice, compassion and the common good.

The most precursory glance at the CACG website makes very plain that they are in bed with the most rabid liberals in Congress who want to shove Obamacare, with abortion and death care panels, down our throats. They're even touting a "40 Days for Health Reform" - an obvious copycat effort of the (genuinely) prolife 40 Days for Life effort. The CACG has even had the stupidity to chide the American Life League for its "Bury Obamacare with Kennedy" poster. They are appalled that ALL would "dishonor the legacy of the late Senator Edward Kennedy." In actuality, Senator Kennedy's legacy is 1) millions of murdered babies throughout the years and 2) dopey, arrogant children who dare to chide the Church for being true to its mission.

Let's look at some of the key players at CACG. Throughout the board, speakers' bureau and staff, we see lots of Pax Christi. Now on their staff, we have their Program Development Manager, James Kralovec. Among his credentials is an internship for the rabidly pro-abortion Congressman from Maryland, Steny Hoyer (now the Majority Whip). Notice some of the affiliations on the Advisory Council. AFL/CIO? SEIU? ACORN buddies all.

Let's look at the board chair - Alfred Rotondaro. He's also a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress in DC. Take a gander at that webpage to see what's on their little minds. On the right of the page is "The Progessive Pulse". (Important aside - the word "progressive" usually indicates socialist and/or atheist tendencies). Read what they consider a hand-wringer: "Will Abortion Derail Health Care Reform?" Of course they basically try to take Bart Stupak to the woodshed for championing the Hyde Amendment. Click on the "issues" tab and you'll see the mindset of the chair of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good!

Another board member, Dr. Joseph Fahey of New York is on the State Committee of the Working Families Party. Well, go to that website. That word "progressive" is festooned all over the place there. Now from where did this WFP originate? Here it is from their site:"formed by a grassroots coalition of community organizations, neighborhood activists, and labor unions". That's somewhat nebulous, but wikipedia gives a bit more detail. Yes, indeed, ACORN is one of the founders. Of course, WFP endorsed the Messiah Most Miserable for President.

I think that's enough to bring to light the questionable alliances of "Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good." They obviously are in alliance with ACORN, union thugs and pro-abortion politicians and organizations. Their protests on behalf of CCHD renders all the more important our efforts to effect not only the defunding of the CCHD, but indeed its permanent dismantling.
