Today's Solemn Pontifical High Mass At The Basilica Of The National Shrine Of The Immaculate Conception

Here are some details of the traditional Latin Mass celebrated by Archbishop Alexander Sample, from Rorate Caeli.  Therein you'll find the various ministers, choirs, etc.  I attended that Mass.  A traffic accident on the beltway caused me to be late, but I did arrive just before the Gloria.

EWTN broadcast it live, and produced the recording below.  I'm impressed that they got it uploaded to youtube so quickly.  The Archbishop's sermon begins at the 54:28 mark; it's definitely worth several repetitions.

  1. Thank you so much for posting this! The magnificent schola cantorum is The Lyceum from South Euclid, Ohio. The school is outstanding! All students of the school sing in the son, years ago, said that he didn't think he'd be able to sing beside someone singing a different part (i.e., alto vs. tenor). After 2 weeks, he was harmonizing with his sister around our home! Going to school at The Lyceum was a sacrifice well worth it...we lived nearly an hour from the school. They are taught using the socratic method, and the true liberal arts curriculum. My son and daughter graduated in 2011, and both are forever grateful for The Lyceum, Dean Langley (founder and directing the choir), Headmaster Macik, and all of the Tutors and families who made up their most memorable high school education. If you want great men (like Langley and Macik--I used to call them the "dream team") teaching your sons and daughters the depths of the Faith and how to learn to think, consider sending your children to this school. Again, thank you so very much...I can't wait to watch it.

  2. I must respectfully disagree with the Archbishop that the TLM and the Novus Ordo can coexist. The former is Catholic, the latter is Protestant.
